A little sketch of everyone's favorite Borderlands milf, Moxxi <3
I was tempted to draw her BL2 design because that's the first game I played and it holds a VERY special place in my heart, but DAMN I love her BL3 design hehee

I love Test Tube and her cute, nerdy scientist character who tries to be serious but ends up being dragged into random stuff thanks to usually Fan or Lightbulb, and how Ep. 14 showed her bada*s side and how much she was willing to rescue one of her best friends, even if they didn't end on a happy note last time, (which probably makes it sadder,) and to rescue the egg they were raising, but I HATE how the fandom usually either portrays her as a cold, sadistic scientist who doesn't give a sh*t about her friends, including FAN, or as this girlboss baddie bada*s scientist who is good at everything and is on her way to rescue her UwU weak femboy malewife Fan from everything (literally f*cking Millie and Moxxie) and did I mention she has no flaws she is just so cool? Like, can we BALANCE her dorky side and her bada*s side and keep the evil side to Wattpad AUs? Let her be a girlboss AND girlfailure!
(Also, since Test Tube had her bada*s moments, can Fan have some too? Let my dorky fanboy stand up for himself and tell someone off! Maybe that moment where he rejected Steve Cobs in Theft and Battery and how he immediately leapt in to protect the egg counted, but I wanna see more, like, he just has enough and throws hands at someone over, like, Bot, or something, like, Mama Bear style, PLEASE do not let him become another MOXXIE!)

I love all the hype surrounding the episode, but can we talk about Moxxie not even getting his own fight scene, not even in his own liberation? Like I get it, Millie is a girlboss gaslight gatekeep badass whatever, and I genuinely have no hatred for her. But you cannot drop a scene like this
Tumblr media
With a cool and suspenseful 3D movement, and a line that went so hard it made my heart drop. AND THEN NOT FOLLOW THROUGH??
I hate to be the one to say it, but it feels like they pushed the girlboss agenda for Millie over Moxxie's own character development, and took away his birthright to beat the shit out of his dad, his dad's goons that watched him suffer over the years, and Chaz, just to insert the line "WHAT THE FUCK, SHE'S A DAME, SHE'S A BROAD, KILL HER." That I STG, has already been used in the show eight times too much.
It's truly wonderful to see a show didn't fall for the "Damsel in Distress" troupe, but that show is not Helluva Boss.
I won't lie and say that this episode wasn't by far one of my favorites, but that's only because I relate to it personally. And seeing the oppressed and abused character had his chance to stand up to his horrible homophobic father just stripped away from him? Yeah, wow, that did very little to comfort me.

ROUND 1 MATCH 5: LUSAMINE/MOHN VS MILLIE/MOXXIE
Tumblr media Tumblr media
if you know the ship name for either of these please tell me
Lusamine/Mohn Propaganda: "OKAY SO Lusamine and Mohn are super important to the events of their games' story, and their kids are even friends of the pov character, but during the events of the player's journey, only one of them has active involvement in the plot and you never even see them together. Lusamine is the president of the Aether Foundation, a pokemon conservation organization, and Mohn runs the Poke Pelago, an archipelago located outside the game's map where you can send the pokemon you aren't using on your journey to play and do various tasks like farm berries and hunt for treasure. So, what happened between them? Messy divorce? Nope. The catalyst of the plot that you only find out about in background lore is that the Aether Foundation was doing research on Ultra Wormholes, portals to other worlds that have the funny occasional side effect of erasing the memories of those who pass through them. And Mohn just so happened to get sucked into one. After that, Lusamine became more abusive towards her children and developed an obsession with Ultra Beasts (pokemon from other worlds on the other side of the Ultra Wormholes), particularly a specific kind called Nihilego. It's heavily implied from scattered lore sources that all of that is partly because a Nihilego infected her with a neurotoxin at the same time as Mohn's disappearance. Her obsession with Ultra Beasts and Ultra Wormholes drove both of her children away one after the other, both rescuing a rare pokemon being mistreated by the Foundation to further Lusamine's goals. By the time the player meets her, she can maintain a pleasant facade but is very deeply unhinged underneath, which is made clear when we finally encounter her in the same room as her children. She's openly verbally abusive and completely denounces them as her children at all. She opens a bunch of Ultra Wormholes and fucks off to live in the Nihilego's world before the climactic confrontation that ends with her being taken back home in an alien-brain-poison-induced coma. And like, during all that, Mohn is just hanging out and providing a helpful service in a tropical paradise with no memory of his former life. I don't know if that necessarily constitutes malewifeness, but it definitely constitutes *something* along that line. (ultra sun and ultra moon have a similar yet different plot that still hits all the necessary girlboss/malewife points for the sake of this argument (and i guess you could argue lusamine has a marginally girlbossier characterization there), but i do not like it as much which is why i didn't mention its events.)"
Millie/Moxxie Propaganda: It's very very very cute and I love how supportive their relationship is!!

finished the Handsome Jackpot, thoughts below!
-by far one of the most lovingly piece of borderlands content i've seen from the devs since tftbl. from the story to the characters to the dialogue, it's all so wonderfully woven together that I couldn't help but hope it never ended! which is saying a lot considering how the main campaign went!!!
-to start, all the characters are so wonderfully written and feel so real. Ember stood out to me as not another femme fatale or Girlboss(TM), but a real woman who's fighting for better things, for her friends, and for freedom. She has a cute quirk with fire and frankly her whole personality is amazing. Freddie, my god, he was so funny and cheeky. I knew he was going to betray us by the pretty boy's one line but i really hoped he wouldn't! he was written with so much personality and quirks, i actually felt for his robots :(. pretty boy is a funny type with sick intentions that only got worse as time went on and the mayor of Trashapolis (???) was SO COOL. i loved his design, just wish we got a name! Getting to FINALLY interact with Moxxi on a more personal level... ugh i love her so much. she's so human and funny and her revenge is justified, you go girl! I missed her proximity to the main campaign so it was nice to get level with her :(( Everyone in this dlc is a victim in one way or another and I think that's what makes everyone's dynamics work so well together.
-onto timothy, since that's one of the main points you guys are probably looking for LOL, his dynamic with all these characters is truly what makes him so... alive? the way he talks about his regret with Ember, his "im not as weird as Freddie" process, and his overall pining crush on Moxxi is just. so good. He feels 3D and isn't just a "sad, pathetic meow meow" as fandom portrays him to be. He's crass and rude and frankly selfish at points, but then he has moments where he is so, so sad and you realize that behind the mask (sorry), there's another victim of Handsome Jack's that you get to help. Just like Moxxi. Seeing him juggle between himself and jack is also so unique to him and frankly, it tugs at the heart :(
-Man. the story. this DLC is exactly what BL3 was missing all along. A sense of fucking connection. This whole story you're jumping from one character to another but they're all connected in such intricate ways. You hear Moxxi talk about her trauma from Jack and you feel sympathy, you find out Timothy thinks about her still and then you meet Ember, who despite being burned (sorry again) by Timothy, comes through to help him. Freddie, albeit a "new" addition, is just as much a victim to everyone else. The scene where they're all standing at the table coming up with a plan felt so, so good. I felt like we actually played a purpose in the story and getting to see everyone together like that? it was a genuine connection between the player and the story. It felt like we were back in Sanctuary standing beside Roland, Lilith, Brick and Mordecai. The characters made the story for sure, but being able to see everyone gathered like that? brought together for a good cause and better loot? that's what borderlands is fucking about. When you spend the entire main campaign forgetting the point of a mission, running from one place to another, never actually being together, it just... feels empty. and this DLC rectifies that so, so well. There's no more "talk to lilith on the bridge".
-the narrated plan scene has got to be one of the best scenes i've ever played. i laughed and it was still action packed and it was just, so, so good. instead of idly sitting back watching a character make a dumb decision, or being mocked, the player is IN on the game, invited to join and actually feel like a part of the plan!
-The UI deserves a praise for the dumb mission names, the silly names of the parts of the map, freaking casa de Timothy made me laugh. It's the silly humor that kinda tied a nice little wrap on a good story and great characters.
-The bosses, oh my god, that was SO FUN!!!! the claptrap revenge/zombie thing literally threw me back to COD zombies days, the JACKBOT was SUCH a cool multi-level boss- even Freddie was great! Just like Krieg's DLC, there was a lot of fun with these levels.
-The design of the Jackpot frankly felt like we were back in BL2 Pandora, which was such a nice refresher sorry! I really enjoyed running through what felt like opportunity again :,). all the jack stuff was CREEPY! I didnt realize the jack tower moved and then it did and i was like OH.
-bugs of course put a tamper on the fun, had to restart twice 'cause the audio bugged and then Timothy just... didn't show up to hack the forcefield LOL . Not exactly the DLCs fault.
-the ending music was the bow on the masterpiece, sorry!
Overall, this DLC nearly makes up for the awfulness that was the main campaign. there was heart to be found in every corner, love crafted in every piece of dialogue, and genuine FUN in each mission. I almost wished i didn't play 'cause now im longing for another GOOD BL thing to play. open to talking about it as always hehe <3
surprising from me, a peak 10/10

You like Borderlands👀👀👀👀👀 I don't know what you ship but any will doooo
Yesss I've yet to play Tales and only played a little of 3 but!! Hello, Mordecai, Axton and Timothy main here, I'm stupid for the weird Mad Max space world ~
Anyway since it's free game here's a few off the top of my head!
Max Caster x MJF
Tumblr media
Questionable ethics of Caster's aggressive flirting aside this is... oddly lovely? I hope they don't abandon it, though it seems like they currently are which I think is why they'redoing us a dirty? It tickles my itch of one-sided pining!
Timothy Lawrence x Mad Moxxi
Tumblr media
So fun fact this one is quite literally one of 3 whole ships I would confidently say are my OTPs? Across all my fandoms?
I don't know how. I don't know why. Maybe it's the initial one-sided pining - my kryptonite! Maybe it's that delicious girlboss/malewife vibe. Maybe it's 'oh wow she's even cuter without the makeup' - or the 'I didn't even you fool you a little?' 'Not once' - almost like the masks and characters others see them as doesn't matter to them and they could have the opportunity to be themselves around each other if they ever allowed it - HNNNGHH
In honor of certain mutuals (you know who you are) - Hook x Danhausen
Tumblr media
I'll be honest, I never got to see much of them? I started watching AEW again at the buildup to DoN 2022, at the tail end of their fued/friendship. But I would LIKE to see more of it. I also admire the dedication and creativity that the little community surrounding this pair seem to have, and have some fics on a watch later. I can dig it with some coercion.
And for the wild card... Christian x Diamond Dallas Page (They had a program for like 5 minutes in 2002 and I'm... a lil obsessed atm)
Tumblr media
They are HILLARIOUS to me. There's only like, 3 ever segments of them! But their dynamic was gold! Therapist tries to save his doucebag client from going off the deep end, with the power of positivity, smiling, and yoga? They could've kept this going for way longer! There is a single fic of them, and it's one I can't even read?
Well not for long, mark my words

New Helluva Boss episode is wonderfully animated as always. I liked it. I loved the flashback to how Moxxie and Blitzo met and to what fucked up family dynamic made Moxxie, well, Moxxie. His mother dying was... heartbreaking and fuck that father! But it also made me feel... where is the emotional connection to Millie? To the whole story. She is the great gal that sits at the sidelines and just nods and goes along with it, while Blitzo burns everything down around them by being the traumatised wreck he is. Which is not bad, per sé, but it makes me as the viewer feel pretty distanced to our girlboss.
I mean the emotional focus of the whole story is the fuck-up that Blitzo is, yeah. But his connections to others and how that forms the whole group kinda is the show. Moxxie had a few episodes now that showed an character arc and also Moxxie and Blitzo getting a deeper connection. But Millie, well, she is along for the ride, but she is never affected by anything. Not really. Moxxie is kindnapped? Hell, she hurts, but then goes to hunt him down. The episode that should have been focussed on her and her backstory, the one where they visit her family, is about Moxxie learning to stand up to her family and... Blitzo's ego and internal selfhate being massively tempted by Striker.
Millie is a confident, self-loving woman from what is shown in the show. And that is a wonderful change of pace to the *points at the rest of the crew* and *points at typical damsel in distress-tropes or worse *shudders* Sakura*. But she is so unaffected by everything. Today's episode has shown that her husband lived a horrible live under his father and while she has shown anger, she is pretty forgiving about Moxxie not reaching out to her. She goes along with staying there and goes along with them having different rooms and such. And that feels a bit like a downfall for her character for me. Especially since the show focusses on the emotional pitfalls of the main casts souls, it feels weird that she is so unaffected. Since I get to see how Blitzo wishes for real connection, but how his own vulnerability is hidden under all his false ego and how that makes him choose people who will reject him, how Moxxie's insecurities build him up to be a doormat to Blitzo that he slowly grows out of, it should feel like a whiff of fresh air that Millie just likes to be herself. But I cannot tell even that, because I get no insight into her. It irks me that I get so much insight in the clusterfucks her surrounding cast members are, but with her I get "girlboss kicks arse and loves hubby".
I love that Millie can handle herself. I love that she kicks arse and tells Moxxie outright: "Tell me next time your dad is a psychopath." and also that she is being understanding that Moxxie has problems opening up. But then again, is she understanding or is she just unaffected? Is she even interested in things beyond "Husband is at my side and I have my job"? Does she even like Blitzo? She laughs along with his shenanigens that make Moxxie curse, she has a civil relationship with Loona, who is normally rabid spit bubbling at nearly everyone, but I see no emotional connection to anyone, not even Moxxie really. We don't even know how Moxxie and Millie met or Millie and Blitzo. We know she is the brawns of the group, but not how she got into it. And that feels weird. By now, we know so much intimate details of every character, but Millie.
I love that in more and more niche shows the female character is not the constant damsel in distress or the one who keeps everyone around her happy and who does her very best to keep everyone together. But it feels like a downgrade, when the new role just disconnects the character from the rest of the group and the story. Millie gets time to shine in awesome fight scenes, but that's about it. And that is sad.
Here to the hope that we get a Millie-focussed episode soon!

So what's your favorite thing about Tyreen annd Moxxi?
i can give u the short answer or the literal essay answer? fuck it both
well i could say mmmm woman and bve sone w it but honestly i love their characters, and the way they present themselves, i love to see a girlboss winning
ok essay time
Moxxi:
moxxi is instantly a stand out character from the rest of the game, seeing as my first bl game i played was bl3, seeing her for ther first time was verry 'oh wow' she was a breath of air from the more gritty and combat oriented designs. She rly stood out immidatly essentally. And yes, she is designed with fan servise in mind, that much is clear, but it dosen't feel out of place or disjointed from the game. she still has elements of her design, such as the gun and bullets on a belt that have function and use in the enviroment. So i don't feel her design is pushing oversexualised elements, like yes she is sexualised, but it works? like never once is she presented in a 'derogatory' manour. And honestly i love that so much.
its very rare in video games, especially with a 'the boys' heavy playerbase, to see well written and diverse female characters. Moxxi is a mother, shes intellegent, she knows her way around mechines WELL, shes got her own buisniss, shes got trauma, shes got DEPTH. i can tell that the writers really did care about her character when making her, shes so much more than the 'fan servise character', becasue shes got key involvement in storylines. For me, i feel she embodies female sexuality and the choice to not be descrere about it due to prersonal preference. Moxxi is the way she is mostly beacause she feels most comfortable this way. With borderlands having a HUGE focus on self expression, doing things because u want to and individuality, i feel Moxxi is such a nice show of this.
Tyreen:
i am such a sucker for female villians, like give me an evil woman and i will love her indefinalty (see ladt dimitrescu lmao). But ty literally instantly screamed 'fave character' for me because omfg shes so fun. Shes cringey, overly playful and eccentric, omg i was in love. tyreen writing wise is... shallow, very one dimentionl but has literally so many foundations to be such an amazingly written character. And honestly i love that, theres so much for me, or the audience to unpack and interperate for ourselves. Shes got all this backstory just sitting there doing nothing, so it's so easy for me to make it ewhaterver i want, for me to put ocs in that story, or hell to even self project. I kin tyreen, shich essentially means i heavily realte to the chartacter, and this is mostly through this untapped potential in her writng. Theres other reasons as wellt ho, like the family issues, the fear of falure and more darker themes of her character i can relate to that hell i find comfort in.
Ty is a huge comfort character to me because ive been able to make her so presonal to me becuase of the way i see her backstory. Her character from what we got is so unbelivably over the top, like honey ur 5'3 and ur wearing a cape which is literally your height, shes goofy as all hell and probably knows it. her character as a concept, although exicuted fairly poorly, was fun as hell, 'evil twitch streamers' is such a fun concept and i love how well she plays that role and is just as probalmatic as humanly possible and just goes with it. god i love her
