I hope you start feeling better soon! I'm so sorry to hear that your ear is still blocked / painful 😭 I wish I knew how to help! Ear pain / issues are something else in terms of absolute misery and I am so sorry that you're still going through it. HOWEVER, I am so happy that you enjoyed the final chapter of The Christmas Fic! I'm very happy to have finally finished it, better late than never I guess, even though I am also very sad since I love that version of Fictional!Matty and Fictional!George so much - I'm going to miss them :(

In terms of Talk Shop Tuesday (!!! thank you for indulging me in this one I am determined to make it a thing!) hmm head canons for Fictional!George in this one:

When given the option of picking where they are going to eat, Fictional!George will always pick a Thai restaurant (idk if anyone noticed but that's where they were planning on going the day Ava was born in the A&E Fic, and that's also where they had the conversation about going to Belgium for Christmas in The Christmas Fic)

Fictional!George is also the on that drives them everywhere - Fictional!Matty is NOT a good driver and it's just better for everyone if he drives

Fictional!George moved into Fictional!Matty's house when they got back together, because Fictional!Matty was always the one hung up on where they lived, he just wanted to be where ever Fictional!Matty was

During the ~post bad times~ ~anger times~ where there was a lot of fighting and tension between Fictional!George and Fictional!Matty, Fictional!George was really trying to work through a lot of his own feelings and his own guilt regarding the whole ~situation~ he wasn't necessarily *mad* at Fictional!Matty nor did he *hate* him like Fictional!Matty thought, but rather he was frustrated with himself and the situation

Fictional!George has had the ring hidden in the back of his underwear drawer since 2013 - the two intertwining strands of black titanium where supposed to represent both him and Fictional!Matty, together forever. He chose black titanium and black diamonds because during that time period IRL Matty, so by default Fictional!Matty described their personal style as "black and expensive"

Fictional!George ends up putting a *lot* of pressure on Christmas moving forward, wanting to make the holidays special for Fictional!Matty after the mess that was this year, and also wants to make sure little Ava always has THE BEST Christmas and knows how much she is loved due to the trauma from his own relationship with his family. Fictional!Matty lets him do his thing but really he and Ava are just happy to spend time with their little family all together

I wasn't planning on writing a part two-I never really do--but I have some ideas for more angst and a little bit of fluff in that universe. I feel so bad for fictional!Matty and fictional!George in The Big Light, so I feel a little like I owe them a little bit of fluff and happiness. To be fair, using that logic, I owe just about every version of fictional!Matty and fictional!George I've ever written some fluff and happiness.

Hey! Only just saw your response to the ask I sent yesterday (the one about thinking of rereading all ur fics). You mentioned wondering which was my favourite and it might have just been a throwaway comment but I am DYING to talk about it so I’m sending this ask anyway. It’s going to be a long one I apologise.

I feel like my favourite atm has to be All the Kings Horses just because it feels so REAL and I have formed an attachment to the characters already. I adore how they’re all portrayed. But also it’s so clear that you know the world so well it’s so easy to be drawn into it.

Also on that note- do you ever think you’d write something to like publish? Not like a fanfic just something you’ve created ig? I mean it’s clear you definitely could if you wanted. (Also I mean twilight wouldn’t exist without a Gerad Way fanfic writer haha)

But back to your fics I feel like I also have an attachment to a lot of the stories in the infection verse. The first story of yours that I read was the one where he scratches his eye so I guess that one always has to be partially my favourite, the ear infection one that followed too.

BUT I also really love ducklings and it’s sooo good at the moment so that might be my second favourite maybe ??

Who knows. Anyway that’s all I was going to say, I apologise for the long ask if you made it this far :)

Thank you so much for sending this my way, it was 100% not a throw away comment, I love hearing which of my fics are resonating with people, it's a great way for me to see what's working and what's not working in my writing since I strive to improve with each project / chapter! I also LOVE talking about fic, whether it's my fic or someone else's fic, so the opportunity to do so is always welcome!! Also never apologize for sending a long ask! Literally makes my entire day!! I'm SO HAPPY to hear that you're enjoying All the King's Horses!! Currently, that is my absolute favorite fic that I'm working on and I know it's a very specific, niche AU so the fact that people are giving it a chance (and enjoying it!!) makes me so happy and so extremely grateful. I love that version of the gang so much - because it is an AU where they are not a band, I feel like I've really gotten to play around with how everyone fits together and knows one another which has been so fun! I'm excited to introduce a few more figures from IRL into the All the King's Horses universe! I also just... love horses and equestrian sports so much that it's like combining my two majors obsessions / interests and it makes my heart SO HAPPY.

In terms of actually traditionally publishing some kind of original fiction some day... that would be an absolute dream. I do have a collection of original projects that I've been working on in addition to my fanfiction, but nothing that I feel is "good enough" or that I'm ready to try and share with the world in that way. I'm seriously so flattered that you think my writing is good enough to even consider pursing traditional publishing with original work 🩵 maybe one day! For now I will be continuing to make Fictional!Matty suffer in various ways 😂

AHHH I'm so happy to hear that the Eye Infection Fic is the one that pulled you in!! I also have a huge soft spot for the Infection verse (which is why we keep revisiting that version of Fictional!Matty and Fictional!George) and I have had so much fun piecing together their world and also trying to make sure there aren't any major continuity errors since it was just supposed to be a stand alone one shot when I started haha

I'm also glad you are enjoying Ducklings!! I know that's another niche trope that people either LOVE or actively avoid so thank you for giving that one a chance as well! It's kind snowballed into a monster but I think I have some direction with it now, and I'm excited for all of Fictional!Matty's secrets to be revealed!

also!!! as the self-proclaimed #1 fan of YKWTCI I was very excited for this update and it did not disappoint (tuesdays have quickly become my most anticipated day of the week thanks to u and ur fics)).

Poor fictional!taylor and fictional!matty are clearly going through it & you portray their struggles so well. I am especially loving how you portray fictional!matty & his struggles with his new found fame as taylor’s boyfriend ((also the fact that the money from fictional!taylors drawer went ‘missing???’… hmmm wonder who took that - such a good detail!!!)

also fictional!george makes an appearance?????!!! YAY. I love me some fictional!george and cannot wait for a fictional!tay & george interaction — i feel that the angst & jealousy may just be unmatched.

last thing and i’ll shut up!! — the equestrian fic??!!!? do i know anything about horses?? no. do i know that i am absolutely going to devour this fic? yes. the enemies to lovers vibes are so strong and this version of fictional!matty seems so soft & i am in love with him already. i am VERY excited to see where this goes!!

Thank you so much for following along on the January OTP Prompt Journey! It was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be, but I had a lot of fun with it, and am super proud that I was actually able to finish them all! (And also so grateful for everyone that read them- thank you so much for being so wonderful and encouraging!) I'm smiling so hard at the idea that Tuesdays are becoming a favorite day because of the updates! Thank you so much for following along and the continued support of this fanfic endeavor! I am *also* a huge YKWTCI fan, and am so happy that people are still willing to give it a chance after all of the May drama with these two IRL. I was really excited about this update and am so happy it didn't disappoint!

Oh my gosh thank you so much 🥺 Fictional!Taylor and Fictional!Matty are both very sad and fucked up in their own ways in this fic, (I've been calling them my fictional bisexual disaster duo lol) and I have really enjoyed writing them and developing their characters and motivations. Getting to explore Fictional!Matty's relationship with his essentially "over night" fame in this fic is also a lot of fun- I can't imagine a universe where the character I've created with all of his issues would handle it well, and that it wouldn't have an impact on his self worth only being "desired" because of who his parents, and then later his "girlfriend" are. I was also way too excited about the missing money bit 😂 and was so very much hoping that someone would comment on it so a HUGE thank you for that😂 (this is like when I was very eagerly waiting for someone to comment on Fictional!Matty doing coke in Fictional!Taylor's bathroom and her totally missing it- and then being SO EXCITED when someone commented about it, I'm like yes, excellent, my hints are obvious enough lol)

We still have another chapter before Fictional!Taylor and Fictional!George meet (the meeting will be going down in lucky Chapter 13!) but I am SO EXCITED about their pissing match as they essentially both try and mark Fictional!Matty as theirs meanwhile Fictional!Matty has no idea what's going on and is just trying to make it through the day 😬 I was really excited about this chapter though and getting a little introduction to Fictional!George since he hadn't physically appeared yet.

AHHH Thank you for checking out the Equestrian AU as well! As very much a horse girl, that fic is so much fun for me to write and I am very much my own target audience (then again, I am pretty much always my own niche target audience lol) If I ever am just... assuming that people know too many things about horses let me know and i can try and clarify more. Horse things are just such a part of my day to day life (and the day to day life of the people I am surrounded by) that I sometimes forget that not everyone like, knows what a martingale is. One sided enemies to lovers is one of my FAVORITE things and I am having SO MUCH FUN writing it! Fictional!George hates poor Fictional!Matty so much and Fictional!Matty just wants them to be friends 🥺 I can't wait to get into this version of Fictional!Matty's past- if you think he's soft now just WAIT you are going to want to give him the biggest hug (I know I do!) I also really enjoy writing bitchy Fictional!George and it's been a lot of fun to explore a different dynamic with him!

Anyway, I apologize that I have written you the longest response ever. I was just VERY excited to see your ask! I thought of you when I posted the YKWTCI chapter and am so happy that you liked it! Ha! I love it! I'm hoping I'll have it finished early next week! I'm flying back to the East Coast Thursday night to visit my parents- but alas they both have to work which means there will hopefully be plenty of fic writing time for me!

If fictional!Matty thought his eye infection was miserable- just wait until he realizes he has to get on multiple airplanes with an ear infection that he is in denial about having. (I have it set in the same universe as the eye infection fic and that version of fictional!Matty has had enough trips to the European version of Urgent Care in the last few weeks to last him a lifetime- unfortunately once George realizes whats up he has to disagree.)

I'm so glad that y'all are enjoying fictional!Matty's suffering as much as I am enjoying writing it! There is just something about him that makes his misery hurt so good!

Hmmm that's a good question, and I hope this explanation makes sense! I guess in my head, even though they all have the same name, they are all SO DIFFERENT to me that like, they don't even feel like the same character (and I say character even though this is RPF because in my mind, my fictional versions of the boys are also their own stand alone beings? like they share similar characteristics to the boys but they are my own creations in my mind) so it's less of trying to differentiate each version from one another, and more so just like... creating a character that fits into that fics world if that makes sense?

Like yes they all have the same public figure as their inspiration, but they are at least in my mind their own separate characters. BUT similarities do arise because I tend to use the same archetype for each of the boys regardless of the fic. Sometimes I do find different versions personalities seeping into the wrong fic lol for example On a Friday!Fictional!Matty is kind of a bitch and so is You Know Where the City Is!Fictional!Matty - BUT All the King's Horses!Matty and Make Way for Ducklings Fictional!Matty are very much not a bitch, so sometimes I need to remind myself that and reign them in.

For me, the confusion comes less in the form of personalities/characteristics overlapping and more so me going ummm in which Fictional Universe did XYZ happen in because remembering the plot is hard sometimes 😂

Which Matty is the youngest in your AU? which Matty is the oldest? And which version of fictional!Matty you've written is your favorite?

Ahh good question!! Fictional!Matty is both the youngest and the oldest in the A&E Fic, this is because that fic starts with him at 16 and ends with him at 39.

In terms of like fics that don't span twenty three years...

Fictional!Matty is the youngest in You Know Where the City Is at 25 (it also takes place in 2014/2015).

and the oldest in On a Friday at 34-getting-ready-to-turn-35 (takes place during present day - but in this little universe the Still... At their Very Best tour didn't happen they finished At Their Very Best / Festival season and then started working on their sixth album).

He's 27/28 in Make Way for Ducklings and also 27/28 in the All the King's Horses... I am in that 27/28 years old range and apparently love to make Fictional!Matty revisit that age as well lol

In terms of which version of Fictional!Matty is my favorite... I'm absolutely obsessed with the All the King's Horses Fictional!Matty he's so sad and has such a tragic backstory but is trying so hard... he also just really loves horses 🥹 that fic is currently my favorite that I'm working on as well. I also have a HUGE soft spot for Infection Verse Fictional!Matty (which is why we keep revisiting him lol) he's also been through so much but is really trying to get his happy ending, that Fictional!George is one of my favorites as well because he is just as flawed as fictional!Matty but at the end of the day they love each other and want what's best for one another.

First off, thank you so much for giving it a chance and for reading! Since you're sending me this lovely ask I am going to go out on a limb and assume that means you enjoyed it lol

Secondly, I cannot believe that I manage to get it together and post an Infection Verse update in the form of a new Christmas Fic chapter AND THEN BOTH MATTY AND GEORGE appear to have developed eye issues (again)!

Thank you so much again for reading the Eye Infection Fic, that thing was a collaborative labor of love inspired by a very lovely anon who sent me an ask this spring / summer when IRL Matty had his whole eye issue and then it spawned an entire little fictional Ally universe. That fic is always going to be so special to me as well, since it was the first fic in the Infection Verse (and also inspired the name lol) and that version of Fictional!Matty and Fictional!George might just be my favorite that I've written!

random question: do you see your matty and george fics are a part of the same universe? or do you see them each as their own little world and timeline?

Thank you for the ask! I love talking about stuff =) This got a little long winded (it's been theorized that I like to hear myself talk, or write, in this case) so there's a little summary at the end.

I don't necessarily situate fics in the same timeline or universe generally, mostly because I've written many fics about the same thing and will continue to write fics about the same thing, but I'm not saying that things can't be in the same timeline or universe. I think that the Valentine's Day fic could be read as a continuation of just about anything. One could situate "I know, I Know, I Know" before a lot of things I've written and similarly, "Queer" and "Somewhere" could be read as following plenty, too. I'm not saying that's how you should read things, but I'm also not saying you shouldn't. I think fic is very much open to interpretation and if you want to read something in a particular way, go for it, I'm mostly just excited people are reading what I write. =)

I will say, though, that I don't really like to be beholden to a particular characterization over multiple fics. There are certainly continuities, but there are also roles I need a character to fill or traits I need them to have for narrative purposes that I'm not going to incorporate in other fics. The version of fictional!Matty in a fic like "What I Didn't Know Before" is very self assured and forward in things and I think runs to fictional!George in all things because the narrative wouldn't work if he wasn't and I don't think it would be as true to the inspiration if he wasn't. Fictional!Matty in a fic like "The Big Light" is the opposite; he's almost timid, retreats in on himself, and runs from fictional!George for much of the fic. The same is true with other characters. For instance, fictional!Ross in "I Know, I Know, I Know" is very much unlike fictional!Ross in "Roadkill" because I needed his character to do different things.

TL;DR- You're more than welcome to read things as being in the same universe or timeline if you want, but I don't necessarily think of things that way because I want to maintain flexibility and freedom in characterization.

since you have so many fics on the go at the same time, i wanted to ask if you have a particular method to keep it all organized

Hello Sweet Anon!

Thank you so much for this ask and for reading! I'm so happy to hear that you enjoyed the new chapter of You Know Where the City Is! Fictional!Matty and Fictional!Taylor are my favorite bisexual disaster duo and I have been having SO MUCH FUN writing them- especially in that 2014/2015 time period - they were both hella messy 😂 Fictional!George will be making his appearance in the New Year 👀 as per the current outline, it looks like he will be arriving very soon... in Chapter 13 which feels almost too perfect!

In terms of keeping everything organized: I have a note book for each chaptered fic / universe (all of the Infection 'Verse fics are in one note book) and within my notebook I have an overall summary, chapter outlines, as well as random but important plot notes / continuity notes / some character background for that particular fic. Because I am old school these are all physical notebooks I got at Target and write in with a black Sharpie pen.

I also have a Google Sheets document with all of the prompt requests I have in my inbox. If they are from a particular list the spreadsheet links to the post with that list. I also have a little print out calendar where I make a note of what fic was updated on what day / if I posted a prompt fill. Is it very extra? Yes, however I love office supplies and organization so all these little organizational / planning side quests are half the fun for me! Not to say that I don't make mistakes sometimes and get X version of Fictional!Matty confused with Y version of Fictional!Matty. BUT all my little lists seem to help at least keep everyone mostly in the right universe!

hi! over the past few days i read the infection verse series (if that's not what it's called...hope you get what i meant😭) it was so. good. you're writing is absolutley amazing

Oh my gosh hello dearest 💟 Anon! It is so lovely to hear from you again! Yes, it is very much called in the Infection Verse Series and here is the silly overly complicated backstory as to why 😂 (I am so sorry if you have heard this story before but it amuses me so I am sharing it again)

Basically the OG fic, I Would Go Blind, was based on a tumblr ask where a lovely anon was like "You should write a fic about Matty's eye infection" it was then dubbed "The Eye Infection Fic." I had so much fun working on it I was like.. what part of fictional!Matty can we infect next?! And thus the Ear Infection Fic (formally known as I Know the Sound) was born. From there ANOTHER super lovely anon was like "remember this paragraph in the eye infection fic talking about all the times Fictional!Matty went to the hospital? you should write a fic about it" and from that Rid Me of the Blues (also known as the A&E fic) came to be. By this point i had an entire whole lil series going, and had been jokingly calling it the infection 'verse and decided what the hell let's make it official and thus the Infection 'Verse series came to officially be known as such in the AllyliketheCat Cinematic Universe.

ANYWAY now that I have given you a super rambling answer to a question you did not ask... THANK YOU SO MUCH OH MY GOSH. heyyy i LOVE your writings, think i’ve read everything you uploaded on ao3 so far… the way you write george’s and matty’s dynamics is so adorable and now i finally follow you here on tumblr!!! the kiss prompts are so cute some of them made me tear up :(((

Hi! Thank you so much oh my gosh! I'm so glad that you're enjoying everything I've posted on AO3, and I hope you continue to enjoy things I post in the future! I'm always writing something and hopefully will have something ready for the world soon! I have a lot of fun writing Matty and George - they have so much history together and the way they talk about each other IRL is so sweet - it's a lot of fun to turn them into fictionalized versions and flesh out a "what if" that could have existed in another universe!

I'm so glad that you're enjoying the Kiss Prompts and I hope they made you tear up in a good way. I have a few more left to post and am excited to start moving them over to AO3 for safe keeping!
