my cousin came home with a henna tattoo today and it just gave me this really cute idea.
Imagine if Dick learned how to do henna from his mum, and as a way of connecting with both her and his younger siblings, he likes to practice doing henna on them. Or like doing henna on them for special occasions and stuff. I just think it would be really cute, for him to share something from his childhood, something really meaningful to him, with his siblings.
I'm imagining Jason reading one of his favourite books out loud, maybe something he used to read before Bruce adopted him, while Dick is practicing a new henna design on him that he saw and wanted to try. And they're both sharing something close to their hearts, something hold close from their early childhoods. It's a rare occasion, most times they're fighting or trying to kill each other, but it's moments like these that remind them they're brothers.
Tim has a date planned and he's really excited, and he's telling Dick all about this boy and everything he likes about him and how nervous he is about screwing things up. And Dick may be giving him some questionable advice, knowing him, but he's creating intricate designs over Tim's palms almost in the same way a person might get henna done for their wedding because he wants Tim to be happy, and this boy makes his little brother so so happy that he can't help but hope they end up married one day. Tim doesn't know a thing about henna, so he probably doesn't understand the gesture, but that doesn't matter to Dick. Both boys are just happy to be spending time together.
Stephanie loves being Dick's practice doll. She thinks it's so pretty and she likes showing it off to everyone. Sure she's not exactly Dick's sibling, but she hangs around enough to be basically family. The two of them definitely gossip a lot while he's practicing. Henna aren't the only things that are shared when they're spending time together. They also share beauty tips and hair care routines, they do each other's nails and have spa days with face masks and stuff. Sometimes Cass and Babs join them too.
Dick has done henna for Barbara too, mostly when they were together. But sometimes he'll do small little designs on her too.
He's currently teaching Cassandra how to do henna. It's a perfect way for them to bond, it's helped her come more out of her shell and she really trusts Dick. She practices henna on Dick whenever they get the chance and of course she's getting really good at it. She feels more connected to the family in sharing something like this. She's even started practicing on Steph sometimes too. In turn she teachers Dick ballet and her favourite fighting skills, and how she encouperates her dancing with her fighting.
I think about how Kori would teach Dick all about her culture on Tamaran, share language and all sorts of things, and Dick would ask questions wanting to learn more. In turn he would teach her his language and what he can remember of his parents culture, and of course that includes his mother's henna tattoos.
He'd do henna for the kids too if they ever asked. It'd just be a fun little thing, Dick is always happy to share. It helps him feel close to his mother even though it's getting harder and harder to remember her face, and everytime he uses henna it makes him feel closer to her, helps him connect with what he used to have. He's so happy to share, and to learn.

what if ariana starts running around as spoiler now that steph's batgirl again
OKAY. OKAY WAIT. I was just going through tabs I had open and found this from the other day i had half an answer written for sgfdhgf okay so. time to plot out a story that'll never happen and i'm probably never gonna fully write:
I don't think I'd want to see her try to use the Spoiler name specifically (especially because Steph is also still kinda using it alongside Batgirl), but-
So in Robin #1 it's established that Ari designs and makes clothes herself, wanting to be a designer
(Robin (1993) #1)
Considering she's in Gotham of all places, she has probably doodled her fair share of Superhero outfit designs just for fun, inspired by the various vigilantes in the city.
Anyways we fast forward to now, current continuity, treat her as existing again. Maybe during all this Fear State chaos, something happens where Uncle Vari and Aunt Natty's Deli was like... basically destroyed by Peacekeepers damaging the place while hunting Batman.
In order to get money to rebuild the place Vari accidentally gets involved in some like... bad gang stuff in Gotham. People who seemed legit up front when they gave him loans, but extort him into letting them use the deli for illegal meetings or money laundering or some just combination of bad things. Vari agrees only to try to keep Natty and Ari safe, especially because of how Ari's parents had been killed after not cooperating with gang-types:
(Robin III: Cry of the Huntress #1)
(Robin III: Cry of the Huntress #2)
And he does not want that sort of thing to happen. Eventually Ari catches on to what's happening despite Vari trying to keep it from her and Natty, and is angry.
She doesn't want her family getting used like this, not after what they went through before. So she takes it upon herself, inspired by the various teenage vigilantes that keep popping up in Gotham, to throw together a hero suit from one of her old designs and begin investigating on her own- trying to find some piece of evidence she can pass on that'll make these guys face justice and get away from her family. Along the way she'd probably find out about much bigger shit happening that extends beyond stuff using their deli, and once she has information about something big they're planning, she reaches out to some bats.
It'd be Steph & Cass she actually gets in touch with first, Cass is weary because she can tell Ari is inexperienced and doesn't really know what she's doing... but Steph remembers being a lot like her and first putting on a mask to try to set things right because it was personal. They agree to pass information on to Oracle, so that they can approach this smart, but insist on handling it themselves.
Chaos ensues as Ari tries to help anyways which at first goes terribly wrong (probably getting Natty and Vari kidnapped or smthn), somewhere along the line Tim gets involved and there's conflict there because they recognize each other and there's a Lot To Unpack, but eventually Ari is able to get in some big impressive feat during a fight against the gang guys (mostly out of luck and adrenaline), save the day, and finally her family and their business is safe.
It ends with a shot of her, Tim, Cass, and Steph all eating batburger on a rooftop and Tim being like "You are putting the suit away after this though, right?" and leaving it open ended about if she'd continue or not.
Anyways thank u for coming to my TED talk here's a quick suit concept design taking elements from various preexisting vigilantes. I don鈥檛 know what to use for a name though i鈥檇 need to think on that more
