tag game, stranger things edition!
i was tagged by @thatgirlwithasquid and @intothedysphoria, thanks y’all, I really appreciate it! 💕
1. ride or die ship/otp : Hellcheergroveton! every combination in this ship is adorable and it has all my favs too ☺️
2. most annoying ship : m*leven. I am beyond tired of watching a young disabled girl be taken advantage of and have it be treated as romantic. El deserves to live partner free, and M*ke deserves to go in the whole garbage can.
3. second favorite ship : Hollogrove. Since it’s not part of the core hellcheergroveton relationship, I’ll branch out a little and bring in my girl Heather. I love her and Billy I’m a relationship and can totally see them spending the rest of their lives together ♥️
4. favorite platonic dynamic : Billy and Max, or Dustin and Steve. Or Steve and Gareth. Cause I headcanon Gareth as becoming Steve’s caregiver after the events of the show leave him with cognitive and physical disabilities
5. underrated ship : Hollogrove, Cunningway, Pompompineapple, Stonathan, Cheerscoops, Calicheer, Rockie, Stargyle, Cammy, Kegboys, Steather, Argilly, and so many more but I’ll stop there.
6. overrated ship : Any of the fruity four (it makes me wanna gag just typing it) ships. I haven’t looked in the fandom tags for a year because it’s oversaturated with passionless, factory produced, carbon-copy fanworks that look like Harringrove fics put through ai to be rewritten as St*ddie, or Buckleway into r*nance. I’m sick of it. It’s boring. I’ll come up with my own steddie content, thanks.
7. one thing to change in canon : Everything. Not even joking. I’m going blorbo shopping and bringing all my favs back to my dollie house to play fix-it.
8. something canon did right : Um. I guess letting actors put in feedback and details of their own. Like Millie choosing for El to touch Billy’s cheek, Dacre giving us backstory on Billy’s mom and also on Billy’s disability (BPD), both he and Joe Keery refusing the original scripts, Joe Quinn improvising Eddie’s crush on Chrissy, and so on. All of the actor choices are the only good things about the show at this point.
9. a thing I’m proud of creating for the fandom : @disabledbillyandsteveweek! There's more information about the event over on the blog, but basically it’s an event starting in about two weeks meant to highlight Billy and Steve as disabled characters, through all kinds of fan works and different ships!
10. a character who is perfect to me : Christine Renée-Beth Cunningham. Nobody compares to my cheer girl.
11. the most relatable character and why : Also Chrissy. She reminds me a lot of myself, especially how I was when I was still in highschool, being timid and struggling a lot with my mental health. I wish she could have grown and gotten help and felt better since I’m on my journey to doing so right now, but I’m forever grateful to have seen a character with an eating disorder and an abusive family on screen, portrayed in a heartfelt and generous way- all thanks to miss Grace Van Dien
12. character I hate most and why : Neil, Karen (actually just the Wheelers in general except little Holly), Brenner, Owens, the lady that shot Benny, literally so many of them. Anyone who intentionally and unabashedly hurts other characters without remorse.
13. something I’ve learned from the fandom : To be patient, because even when things seem tough or impossible, we can make it. Together, with friends who understand us, and who share our pain, we can fight and keep going! Especially because this community will always have folks who understand and have our backs, we just have to find them ❤️❤️
14. three tags I seek out on ao3 : I actually don’t read fic on ao3. The extreme amounts of severely triggering content hosted on that site is just too much for me and I can never seem to avoid it. I only post to ao3 because I know people find it easily accessible, but I had one too many mix-ups that led to me being in a terrible state of mind, so I discontinued using the site.
15. a song I strongly associate with otp and/or favorite character : I’ll never shut up about “Time in a Bottle” by Jim Croce. Conveniently off the same record as Hop has on Vinyl and Cassette, it’s my favorite song ever because it’s so tender and loving and even though it’s old people music yall should give it a listen. It applies to any ship, but especially packs a punch with Harringrove. Also “Magic” by Olivia Newton-John.
I’ll tag: @eddie-munsons-guitar86 @honey-tongued-devil @martianclown @hephaestn @jaylikesrainbowtigers @denkiddo1 @enchanted-day-dreams @stranger-themes-blog @ratbastardbilly @thinger-strang But there’s no pressure to do it! You absolutely don’t have to if you already have or if you just don’t feel like it! <3

1. Who has been the biggest supporter(s) of your writing? How have they supported you?
That I know outside of writing, my best friend. Even before I was sharing things, she encouraged me. Since I opened up to her about writing, we’ve actually bounced some ideas off each other, and she’s beta edited some of my work.
In the writing community, fiercefray. She’s been an absolute angel with everything and she deal with me when I have massive crises of confidence.
I’d also have to say my parents. They might not realise the impact they had on me, but they were the ones who instilled a love of reading in me, and they constantly put up with me when I get lost in writing times, as well as the frustration of writing raises its ugly head.
2. If you’ve written multiple pieces or worked on multiple projects, what are some common elements you find in several of them?
Curious characters who end up in bad situations because they couldn’t let something go. So many of my characters kind of accidentally fall into situations because they wouldn’t let things slide.
3. What are your go-to sources for writing advice/references/tips?
I don’t really actively seek out writing advice/references/tips, I just kind of write and hope for the best. But, I have found some pretty inspirational things around Tumblr.
4. What are your favorite tropes to read and write?
I’m awful with tropes in general, but probably friends becoming family, and good versus evil.
5. If you were going to be known for a single great book, in what genre would you most want it to be in?
Probably young adult fiction. It’s where I do most of my writing, so for one of them to be the single great book, that would be awesome.
6. Fans of what currently published books (or other works of fiction) would most enjoy your WIP?
I write a really eclectic mix of things, I think. But, if you liked The Maze Runner, I think you might like my Dystopian Story.
7. Honesty hour: Have you given pretend interviews in your head about your wildly successful novels? What topics did you talk about most in your “interview”?
Nope, I’ve never pretended to have interviews about my wildly successful novels, but mostly because I think I’d hate to do interviews about things. Like, I can’t even talk about them when I get people to beta them.
I think if I did, though, I’d try to focus on the characters, because they’ve always been massive driving forces in the stories for me.
8. If your WIP were going to be adapted into another form of media (TV, film, audio drama, comic, videogame, stage play, etc.) which do you think would fit it best? Which would you most like to see happen?
I think I’d love to see my Dystopian Story as a TV show the most.
But, an honourable mention would be my Haunted Maze Story as a choice based video game. Letting people decide the fate of those characters could be an interesting take on it all.
9. How well do your tastes in reading align with your tastes in writing?
I read a pretty eclectic mix of books, and write a lot of different things too, so I guess my taste is pretty well aligned for both. That being said, I do read some books that I don’t think I’d ever delve into writing properly, for example non-fiction and romantic books.
10. Do you read or write fanfiction? If so, for what fandoms, and how do you think this has influenced your writing?
I do both, but this blog focuses on original stories.
I do, however, think that fanfiction influences writing because you already have a basic plotline to follow, and things that fans will recognise. I think fanfiction is such a useful tool to help writers understand their own characters – because you can focus more on them when the situations are already plotted out. Also, it helps with trying to bring things to life because you have something to base things on, instead of doing all the heavy lifting initially, if that makes sense.
11. Asking who your favorite OC is is like asking about someone’s favorite child. But come on, you know you have favorites. Who are they?
I think it’s pretty obvious that my favourite OC is Fox. She’s the one that started off everything in the biggest way. Yes, I have OCs that are older than her in their initial creation, but her book got finished properly first, and it’s the first one I ever really tried anything with.

GG 2x04 Rewatch
Not gonna lie, this is probably going to be the only episode I rewatch. The rest has been kinda tainted by 2x13 and s3.
Generally, my opinions tend not to line up with the majority of the fandom - sorry, not sorry.
Tumblr media
1. What was your favourite scene of the episode? Tell us why!
It’s a tie between the bathroom break and the vette smash. Bathroom break - for obvious reasons - I’m a hoe and I live for that shit. The vette smash - I just vibe with Rio’s petty energy and the way you could see how much he was enjoying himself, Dean being metaphorically castrated by the guy who just fucked his wife... chef’s kiss.
2. Was there any scene that missed the mark for you? And if so, how?
I WISH beth would’ve bit back when Dean brought up the shooting. It irks me so much that she contnually rolls over for him. She spitefully gets payback, but rarely puts him in his place (if it were up to me, his place would be by boomer-jeff’s side in the dumpster)
3. This episode starts with each of the girls trying to make amends in their own way – Beth through her family, Ruby through charity and Annie through Marion. What do you think this tells us about each of them?
I feel like Beth and Ruby’s attempts at making amends always feel incredibly shallow and I can never tell if it’s down to shitty writing or if its because they genuinely don’t feel guilty. If’it’s the former - I’m not surprised. If it’s the latter - I hope the girls own their lack of remorse, in future.
Annie strikes me as the one who feels genuine guilt over a lot of this, and it’s been pretty consistent - even when Lucy died in S3. I think it makes sense for her to be the most cut up about it because she always struck me as someone who’s ruled by her emotions - she doesn’t exactly think before she acts, and is typically pretty impulsive.
4. Rio offers Beth the keys to the kingdom! This scene is always hotly debated in the fandom! What do you think he meant in the moment of it? Do you think he ever actually saw or even wanted Beth as a partner?
Straying from the general consensus, as usual - I don’t think he was playing her and I don’t think he planned to take a cut of whatever Beth came up with.
Personally, I don’t think it makes much sense. He’s already learnt that he gets further with Beth through praise and reward, as opposed to intimidation - more flies with honey, yada yada yada.
If the whole thing was just a manipulation it would have made more sense for him to convince her that he had faith in her and offer her a 25% cut of any cash washing operation she could come up with. She would’ve bit his hand off at the opportunity.
I think he was telling the truth when he said that he was done, I think he was genuinely flipping his game from cash to pills. At this point, Turner was looking closely and so it would make sense for Rio to want to distance himself from the counterfeit operation. He literally explained back in season one that it’s how he avoids being caught, he flips his game before the feds get too close.
I get the feeling that he probably didn’t intend to have much contact with Beth going forward and was going to leave her to do whatever she wanted with the rest of the money. It’s not that I think he wouldn’t manipulate her, he absolutely would. I just don’t really think it makes sense in this context.
5. Do you think Marion had any idea that Boomer was taking advantage of her?
I think it was probably similar to the situation with Beth, regarding Dean’s cheating: the thought was there, but she never really confronted the idea and lived in a comfy little denial bubble.
6. Dean’s attachment to the corvette is played in many different ways in s2! How do you interpret this?
I think it’s the perfect display of his narcissism and toxic masculinity. The car is as grandiose as his ego and he thinks it’s going to save the dealership, much like he thinks he’s going to be the one to save his family from ruin.
7. Why do you think Beth kept the money from Ruby and Annie?
I think she’s hugely manipulative and likes to be the be the one holding the cards. She only wanted to rob the store when she had her own problems to worry about and then convinced the girls to go along with it, she went to Rio to ask for more work back in season 1, she asked him to up their drops, the list goes on.
She tends to call the shots and drag them along for the ride, so it seems consistent with her personality that she’d keep the money to herself until she needed it, and then inform the girls.
8. The birth of the cars for cash business! Is this Beth’s best idea? Her worst? How do you rank it, both in general and among the girls’ other schemes? And do you think it could’ve worked longterm if Turner wasn’t so fixated on Beth?
Probably the best idea she came up with tbh. The others were pretty poorly thought through, as far as long term strategising goes. It could’ve worked really well if they had an accountant keeping the books looking kosher.
9. The Beth and Dean arc this episode is perhaps one of their most frustrating (in spite of the extremely cathartic resolution, haha). Do you think Dean’s belittling of Beth and his feelings of Beth emasculating him are new to their relationship or have been around for a long time? How do you think they really see each other?
I think they lived in a state of blissful ignorance and their initial interaction (love you, tunafish) was really indicative of that. Him belittling her was probably prevalent in the beginning of the relationship, but I think she probably just placated him and got on with her life. Now she’s clearly growing tired of his shit, just not. fast. enough.
I don’t think they’re in love though. I think Dean’s feelings for her are fuelled by narcissim. She’s obviously good looking and from the outside, he has it all. The house in the burbs, kids, hot wife, family business etc. That’s what he cares about - the image. I don’t think Beth is too dissimilar. I think she probably looked up to Judith as a teenager and idiolised that life, which Dean could provide. I don’t think she ever had deep, romantic, feelings for him. But she probaly does care for him, to an extent.
10. The Annie and Beth arc is also pretty telling of the characters’ history. It’s also one of the few times we’ve deliberately seen Beth seek out Annie for comfort (often it’s incidental that Annie’s there). What do you think this tells us about their relationship, both historically, and where they are at this point in the series?
I think it’s one of the few moments that their sibling bond is believable. It’s pretty accurate that, as Annie is maturing, she becomes less of a fuckup baby sister who needs everyone to clean up after her and grows into someone that beth can turn to for comfort/advice. Makes sense that this happens later in life, considering the significant age gap.
11. Ruby’s scene at the Quick Cash with JT is really significant – both in terms of it being a generally delightful scene, but also as a touchstone demonstration of Ruby’s increasing unwillingness to swallow her pride. Do you think Ruby prior to the series commencing would’ve reacted to JT’s goading in this way? And how do you think this scene compliments the scene earlier in the episode with Stan admitting he’s taken another loan too?
I thinks she would’ve wanted to, but literally couldn’t afford to. She had the means and opportunity to give him a dose of karma. But it’s always been in her nature to talk shit - diner dickweed in season 1. She refused to swallow her pride and apologise.
That, along with Stan taking another loan, seems to fit in well with the Hill’s entire arc of trying to be good people and being consistently shit on for it.
12. THE. BATHROOM. BREAK. That’s it. That’s the question. Please elaborate on your thoughts and feelings.
Am i supposed to be able to form thoughts or sentences that adequately express my feelings?
Petty king is also king of consent, he let beth take the lead - love it.
Judging from the papertowel dispenser, stroke game was strong.
Penis levitation is now a part of my vocab, thank you for your service, Rio.
10/10 - would definitely recommend being railed in a bathroom by this man.
13. Greg and Annie have what’s their last break-up in this episode (at least up until now). Why do you think this particular one stuck? And do you see any sort of future for them?
I feel like the key difference was Annie putting her foot down and saying “no”. Idk if I can see them getting back together, becasue I don’t think she’d have another affair when there’s a child in the mix and he’s too much of a pussy to divorce Nancy unless he has a guaranteed backup plan aka Annie. Still kinda ship it though.
14. Annnnd lastly, what do you make of the final scene at Boland Motors? What do you think Rio thought following both the bathroom break and this moment?
I think that Rio was genuinely flipping his game and moving away from cash and, in turn, Beth. But the bathroom break changed his mind, so he got curious and wanted to know what she came up with for the money, only to find out that she gave it to Dean. Given how possessive Rio is of his money, in combination with the feelings for Beth which had just been stirred up, I think his jealous side came out and he took back the money.
Up until this point, the entire Brio dynamic was him holding the power and exerting it whenever he saw fit. The second he followed her into that bathroom, he gave up whatever semblance of control or power he had left. The man is a very obvious control freak and so I don’t think he does well or feels secure in those situations. Him smashing up the car was basically an attempt to re-establish dominance and convince himself (and Beth) that he was still in control; with the added bonus of emasculating dean and making money.
And daaaayyyyyyyuuuuuuummmmm if I don’t enjoy watching that scene. The emasculation of Dean, Rio being petty, Beth malfunctioning at the possibility of Dean finding out she got dicked down in the bathroom, while he sat outside trying (and failing) to get the waiter’s attention. I DIE

11 Questions
tagged by @buttsonthebeach. thanks so much!! ^_^
1. What image or images do you come back to over and over again in your writing?
Birds, orchards, night sky.
2. Which character’s point of view do you most enjoy writing? (OC or canon)
Not sure? I have really grown fond of writing men. I like writing the male POV. I think it’s an interesting study and use of empathy.
3. What is the first piece of inspiration that led to the project you are working on now?
For that he may hold me by the hand, which is my BRAND new project--I have always liked the Arthur/Albert ship. I’ve always liked the bisexual Arthur headcanon. Rockstar has written a bisexual male protagonist before, so this headcanon is very arguable. Arthur, as a character, seems very emotionally unavailable throughout most of the game. I feel like all the times he comes closest to *actually* flirting with any character in-game, the times he seems most open and easy-going, most confident and in-control of his own domain, are spent with Albert. With Albert, Arthur comes alive a little bit, like he’s got some blood flowing through his veins. I guess I wanted to explore that further, and of course it’s mostly planned out, and it is looking like probably the most straight-up romantic love story I’ve ever written. I mean, Arthur offers to protect Albert multiple times. He uses those literal words: “I’ll protect you.” Albert flails. He calls Arthur a gentleman. “You, sir, are a gentleman,” he says. “You don’t know me very well,” says Arthur. “Well, you’re a gentleman to me,” says Albert. Arthur legit is blushing. Arthur carries his bag for him. ???? Arthur worries about him. Albert is genuinely in awe of Arthur’s relationship to and knowledge of nature. To me, Arthur feels genuinely under-appreciated by nearly every member of the gang. There are really no other characters who fawn over and admire Arthur the way Albert does. I think...I think Arthur could get into that.
4. What is one fic you have always wanted to write but haven’t gotten a chance to yet?
My Arlathan AU! I always talked about going back and writing the story of my Arlathan and the Great War--Solas and Mythal’s love story, what happened with Solas’s mother Leanathy, the love triangle with Solas, Ghilan’nain, and Mythal, Ghil’s betrayal, Solas smoking elfroot in the kitchens with Abelas and flirting with the servant girls, etc. etc. I want to write it! But I don’t! Think! I ever will! Wah.
5. What project has been the toughest for you to work on?
Probably my art! Ugh. With the new baby, it’s really fallen away. I still draw, but definitely not every day. With drawing, I really have to like, focus and try so hard. It’s not easy, and I get very fixated and it’s hard for me to move in and out of the space at a moment’s notice, which I sort of need to be able to do right now. But writing for me is easy. I can be writing while doing anything. I can be writing one minute and then tending to my kids in the next, and vice versa. It’s just an experience thing. So I’ve just been writing a lot. That’s been my main creative outlet, which is okay. It’s normal for me. But I miss drawing!! Of course starting another chapter fic probably isn’t going to help with that much lmfao.
6. Do you have any routines or habits for writing?
Probably just my new need to have my phone drafts. I so rarely just sit down to an empty page without prepared material anymore. I write so many scenes on my phone before I start typing in word. It’s like the lynchpin of my writing process lately.
7. How do you get to know more about each of your characters? Do their personalities and backstories tend to come to you immediately, or do you have to “spend some time” with them to figure that out?
Hmm. I think I need to spend some time with them. There are certain things that come to me immediately, and a lot of the time, it’s because those things just fit my aesthetic tendencies. So like, Arthur being able to count cards and cheat at blackjack, and his ability to do sleight of hand at the poker table--these things came to me immediately, just like they did with Solas (who also does sleight of hand and magic tricks and is very good at cards). That stuff all just comes from my husband, who is a good mathematician and super good at games like poker and blackjack. So like, most of my male characters are...that way lol.
Other things, like backstory-wise, it’s usually a mixture of spur of the moment and then well-thought-out stories. So for Mary Beth, she just seems like she’d be from Kansas. So, she’s from Kansas. Then I go searching for a good town for her to be from in like the 1870s when she would have been born. And I find a good town, and then that leads to something else about the backstory of the entire gang, etc. With Sene Lavellan, it took me a long time to invent her whole backstory and to realize she was a rich Dalish elf, and that this was central to her identity. BUT, I knew she was a loner and a hothead right away. So. Yeah. It’s a mix.
8. If you could only write one for the rest of your life - smut, angst, or fluff - what would you choose?
Probably fluff? I need joy.
9. What trope do you love to include in your writing?
I like characters who are protective of each other (it’s not a gendered thing--I like protective women as well as protective men). I like hurt/comfort a LOT. I like touch-starved characters easing themselves back into the throes of intimacy with partners who are patient. I like secret relationships. Fake relationships. Sorry this is multiple tropes I just realized the question didn’t include the plural lmfao
10. Do you write original works in additional to fandom works?
Yes? Theoretically? Lol. I have original stories that I work on from time to time. It used to be all I wrote. I wrote and published original stories before I got here. I miss it sometimes, but to be honest, the transition from fanfiction to original work is not simple. It’s very complicated. That’s not because fanfiction is easier. It’s because it’s a different genre. It’s an entirely different rhetorical situation. The conventions do not match up. Despite the common purpose of “storytelling,” the way you get there is another animal and it takes time and focus to make the change. If I make the change it will most likely be a longterm change.
11. What author’s style do you admire the most?
Probably Hemingway. I love a lot of different styles, but his particular brand of minimalism is, I think, the most taut and the most stylistically interesting to me.
I’ll tag @morgan-arthur @pikapeppa @a-shakespearean-in-paris @ellstersmash @idrelle-miocovani @thevikingwoman @bearly-tolerable @gentle-outlaw @goldenentertainment @jarbaje and @nyoom-bum. Your questions are under the cut <3
What is your favorite character from a video game and why?
When you look back at your middle/junior high school years, what is the first album, band, or musical act that comes to mind?
What makes you nostalgic?
What is your biggest pet peeve when it comes to tumblr, fandom, and/or publishing at AO3?
Describe the place where you are from in three sentences.
Which fandom(s) are you most active in right now? What is your current favorite ship from that fandom?
Where/to whom do you turn when you seek wisdom?
Do you like sports? If you do, what’s your favorite sport to watch and/or play?
Have you ever been to Las Vegas?
What is your guilty pleasure TV show and why?
Do you believe in ghosts?

ask response: fic questions
This was fun! Thank you, @goldensillydragon, for submitting the ask and for giving me the opportunity to take sweet trip down memory lane. I was able to answer them quicker than I anticipated. If anyone else would like my rambles about any fic I’ve written, just submit an ask/message with a fic title. I’ll answer some or all of the 15 questions. :D
goldensillydragon: Thank you, and don’t worry, take all the time you need. The fic is “Remembrance Of Things Past”, because it owns my heart and it’s a thing of beauty (and, frankly, to me it has become the standard I compare all Blackfrost fics to!).
Feel free to add anything you may want about it, just reading your thoughts on it will be a pleasure, you cannot imagine how much I love that fic!
Fic Links: Here on AO3 or here on FF.net
1: What inspired you to write the fic this way?
I am a fandom old. I first started writing fic in 2001. I wrote steadily from 2001 to early 2007, and then I stopped for 5 years, largely due to work. Buffy the Vampire Slayer was the first fandom I ever wrote for, I loved it and Firefly to bits, so I was super excited at Joss Whedon directing a big budget movie (oh how time changes perspective). I’d never read an Avengers comic before seeing the movie (I was an X-Men gal growing up). I can’t even remember at this point if I’d seen any of the Marvel movies prior to Avengers. I just know I came out of my first viewing of it in 2012 with a restored fannish heart. I needed it too. That year was hell for me personally, and writing Avengers fic was an escape.
I’d come out of Avengers, like many, impressed by Tom Hiddleston’s Loki. I was especially intrigued by his scenes with Natasha, how both of them played around with perception (Loki with his illusions, Natasha with people’s conceptions of herself), so the first Avengers fic I wrote was a short one-shot called “The Animal Inside” in which Loki visits Natasha to talk with her about the animal/beast inside and redemption:
Loki holds her gaze and says, “My sentencing happens today. Odin will…render his judgment against me. I believe even your society grants last requests to the condemned.”
Natasha holds her breath, unsettled at the confession.
“How did you do it?” he asks. “How did you stop being who you were and become who you are? Barton told me about your past. The red in your ledger. How did you…stop?”
I continued it in a slightly longer one-shot called “The Dog Days are Over” in which Loki has somehow found his way to Earth, rather than having been executed by Odin for his crimes, and Natasha encounters him on a mission. She tracks him down to understand why.
“Why aren’t you dead?”
He smirks. “Because Odin loves sadism almost more than his missing eye.”
And then came the beast. “Remembrance of Things Past.” In its current and unfortunately permanent incomplete form, it clocks in at over 200,000 words in nearly 50 chapters. I worked on it for close to 2 years. From what I remember, I wanted to challenge myself to find a way to write a Loki-Natasha romance that seemed plausible, that especially didn’t compromise her character in significant ways. What I settled on was Loki crossing Dr. Doom (a villain who, in the comics, was powerful enough to go toe-to-toe with him), and Odin directly asking Natasha to help Loki as he knows about the conversation they have in “The Dog Days are Over” through Heimdall. To save Loki, Natasha would have to delve back into her past, as he would have to deal with his past sins to try to atone.
Hence the title: “Remembrance of Things Past”
2: What scene did you first put down?
Probably the first scenes, bridging the time from “Dog Days” to Odin asking Natasha for help. I likely planned a good chunk of the first set of chapters in advance, but I would have started at the start.
3: What’s your favorite line of narration?
It’s been so long since I’ve worked on this, and so long since I’ve read it, that it’s hard to choose a favorite with any certainty. Here are some that I liked enough to highlight when posting and that stick out to me now making this:
In one of the rooms, she forgets which they are so numerous, Natasha finds Loki regarding the carved and painted ceiling. The reflected light shines golden on the room and on him. She wonders how he ever successfully lied or deceived, his eyes convey so much. His gaze now is elegiac, a smooth sky covering a seething sea of rage and regret.
*
On the smooth expanse of his life in Asgard, Loki had always felt the scratch, the spot that mars, the place where the pieces of himself should come together and fit, but instead they grated, they set his teeth on edge, and he lived in Paradise as a man tormented by a shadow from the corner of his eye, glimpsed only but never seen.
*
Odin looks once more at Loki and Thor, then he turns and finds Frigga. As they regard one another, a goodbye too inadequate for millennia together, the body of Odin Allfather begins to rupture, the energy within pouring forth, burning, burning, burning his body to ash. He looks up at the stars beginning to shine in the night sky, and Loki may not be able to stop him, he may not be able to save him, but he can do this. He closes his eyes and pictures the view from the end of the world in Asgard, the deep ebony of space, the graceful curve of the distant worlds, the stars as they flare and beam golden light upon the realm, and he projects the image for his father to see. He sees Odin smile as he gazes upon the vista, then the energy takes hold and his body disperses, disappearing amongst the stars.
4: What’s your favorite line of dialogue?
“Isn’t it funny the way the worlds turn and the fates fall?”
I ended up liking it so much it became the summary/tag line for the fic overall.
5: What part was hardest to write?
The last major sequence, an epic fight on the Helicarrier that spanned 5 chapters- collectively known as “Blow Up the Outside World.” There were SO MANY different threads to interweave, SO MANY characters to keep track of and get into position for the final outcome to happen. In the first chapter alone, Loki, Maria Hill, Natasha, Bruce, and Sif all have point of view sections. The next chapter, Thor, Frigga, and Darcy on top of a few repeats. Jane, Tony, Clint, Steve in the next few.
SO. MANY. CHARACTERS.
But I made it work. It was hard. I remember having charts planning out what was happening where on the Helicarrier so events could sync up correctly. It was brutal and satisfying when it all came together.
6: What makes this fic special or different from all your other fics?
It got me writing again, and in a serious way. It will always have a special place in my heart for that reason alone.
7: Where did the title come from?
It’s a riff off of the Proust novel Remembrance of Things Past, which is one of the few huge epics I haven’t read.
8: Did any real people or events inspire any part of it?
Not that I can remember.
9: Were there any alternate versions of this fic?
Not of the fic overall, but of individual scenes and plotlines. I can’t remember any specifics. I’m fairly sure I didn’t intend to write Steve-Sif as a romantic pairing until story events necessitated them interacting and then I fell in love with their interactions.
10: Why did you choose this pairing for this particular story?
See the response to #1. :)
11: What do you like best about this fic?
I think I did a great job with the action sequences. I think I developed Natasha and Loki’s relationship in an interesting way, in a way that respected both characters and felt plausible. I like a lot of the narration and weaving the various plot threads together, especially in the last big action sequence.
12: What do you like least about this fic?
It’s unfinished. Unfortunately that’s how it will have to stay. My fic writing interests have strayed from Marvel, and I’m currently trying to finish another epic fic beast.
13: What music did you listen to, if any, to get in the mood for writing this story?
So many songs. I don’t have my Blackfrost mixes on my iTunes anymore, but I know I listened to a lot of Olafur Arnalds. “Heart’s a Mess” by Gotye. “The Difference Between Us” by The Dead Weather. “Cosmic Love” by Florence + the Machine.
14: Is there anything you wanted readers to learn from reading this fic?
Not really. I hope they enjoyed reading it!
15: What did you learn from writing this fic?
To not indulge in EVERYTHING I want to write in a story. I doomed myself when I let the POV of the story expand from Natasha to Loki and then to other characters. Don’t get me wrong. I love, love, love so much of what I wrote, but the story grew to something I couldn’t sustain, especially when Cap 2 came out and my brain was all Bucky, Bucky, Bucky. So with “That Which You Seek” and “And the Wounded Sing,” my two big Bucky-Darcy stories, I kept the POVs focused solely on them- Darcy in the first, Bucky in the second. The same with my Yuri on Ice story “Sixty Impossible Things.” There are times I’d love to delve into Viktor’s or Yuri’s POV, but I keep the focus on Yuuri. This has helped. I finished the two Bucky-Darcy stories, and I’ve gotten back to writing “Sixty Impossible Things.”

20 Question Tag Game
Please tag @the-everlasting-dream in all your posts!!
Thanks, @the-everlasting-dream, @theroyalweisme, and @hellomynameisdeviblaire for tagging me.
1. When/what age did you start writing? I started writing around 14 or 15, mostly reviews and interviews for the school newspaper and then doing some fanfiction at 16.
2. What inspired you to start? I liked how it made me feel.  Writing, for the most part, felt good, even when I sucked.  The fanfiction was a way to deal with my crushes since I didn’t have someone who could tolerate talking about them at the rate I thought about them.
3. Where and when does inspiration usually strike you? Like the Shakira English-language crossover hit, “Whenever, Wherever.”
4. Where and when do you usually to write? Morning? Late at night? On the bus? In bed? Whenever I get the chance, wish is not as often right now.  I think I do my best work late at night.  That’s is usually when the idea to solve a block I have with a WIP comes to me.  Sometimes I would write on the train or during a break at work on my iPhone in GoogleDocs, but I don’t like to do that often.  My thumbs cannot handle that kind of demand.
5. Do you listen to music while writing? If so what genre/playlist? Sometimes.  If the music is really helping to establish a mood or an aesthetic, then I would listen to that song on repeat while I write that part.  Other times if I need to focus or drown out other thoughts I would listen to some lo-fi hip-hop beats.  I have been liking Fushou. lately, especially the track “burgundy.”
6. Which category do you like best? Angst? Fluff? NSFW? Other? I like a little bit of everything.  Each category brings something different to the table.
7. Which category do you find most challenging to write? The part of me that lives to self-flagellate would say all of them.  To narrow it down I would have to say action and NSFW.  Action because you have to write it so that the reader can see it and that can be rough.  NSFW is mostly because I have to a.) admit that I am interested in the sex I am writing, and b.) push it further and not hold back.  I am working on it.
8. If you had to pick your favourite Choices book, which one would it be and why? The Royal Romance.  It was my first book and I fell in love quickly.  See, I got the Choices app because I have been seeing the ads, I was bored and I was down for some mess of the baby daddy variety.  I saw the title and was like “oh you can get two European niggas to get to boxing over you like Darcy and Hugh Grant in Bridget Jones’ Diary? Sign me the fuck up.”  Then there was no mess and I got hooked.
9. If your Choices LIs were real, which one (and only one!) would you personally want to be with? I would say Ben from LoveHacks.  While Liam is like the romantic hero that my middle-aged heart would long for, Ben is the one I have a chance of actually finding.  Also, if I marry Ben, I could have a wedding where I don’t get kidnapped.  A fine-ass man that could support himself with his creative gig, has his own place in San Francisco, will not take your shit and love you down?  I would like that very much.
10. Do you share any physical characteristics with your Choices MCs?  Pics/selfies optional :) I don’t think I have too many that I look like.  Especially since I tend to mix it up with my MCs and more often than not go for darker skinned MCs even though I am light skinned.  Maybe the light-skinned MC in BloodBound?
11. Which MC do you share the most personality traits with? I think all of the MCs have some aspects of me.  Halle (TRR) is Auntie Tippy.  She has the parts of me that are basically guiding me to my Auntie glory.  Aminah (BloodBound) has more of my dedication to seek out satisfaction and pleasure first, even if it's detrimental and counter-productive.  Asha (The Freshman, et al) is Needy Tippy...etc.
12. Which Choices character do you feel you have the best grasp of in terms of personality? Liam. I like writing his thoughts since he can be very cerebral and I feel like I am like that a lot of the time.  Writing for Kiara has been interesting as well since I relate to her desires to set her emotions aside to do the job even, if not especially, when it’s difficult.
13. What’s your favourite choices pairing to write for? Liam x MC obviously.  Almost too much to the point that other pairings and other projects outside of them really suffer.  For every one idea I would have for a fic that isn’t about Halle and Liam, I would have 10 fics that center them.
14. What is a pairing/s you hope to start writing for? I am writing more about Aminah in BloodBound for my TRR x BloodBound crossover series, In the Dark.  I would like to spend more time with her and also Zahra and Hayden for Perfect Match.  I have a series outline for Perfect Match but I have not been dedicating a lot of time to it because Halle and Liam kind of dominate my imagination.  Also, I have that Zahra is Nigerian and my Yoruba is shite and Zahra does speak it.
15. What do you hope to improve in your writing? Lots of things.  A better grasp of conversational foreign languages would be nice.  Also, I think I could use more diverse words.  Sometimes I repeat the same word for stylistic reasons, but I could opt out of that more often.
16. Any pet peeves related to writing? As a reader, poor formatting is a huge turn-off.  Especially when it comes to dialogue.  Not breaking up the dialogue when you have two characters talking to each other is a huge pet peeve of mine.  Not breaking up paragraphs is also a great way to not have me read your fic.  As a writer, my crippling insecurities keep me busy.  Also, the pronoun versus proper noun thing could be better.
17. Are you inspired by any IRL experiences when you write? Care to share? All of the time.  All of my MCs are Black Women and race/gender play a role in their lives, some more than others.  For the Home series, I drew a lot from the current climate and just American history to influence Halle, her character, and experiences.  I also thought a lot about Meghan Markle and how she was treated by the British media and the conversation about her.
18. Is there any particular piece of work you consider to be your ultimate writing goal? Something so amazing you hope one day you’ll be able to be up to that standard? I am inspired by a lot of writers on here.  Like blown away by the writing and fic concepts.  So much so that I cannot name just one work or one writer.  @madaraism has this series, Himeros, that makes me weep openly at my desk.  I have recommended it before, will do it again.  @i-dream-so-i-write can really do an AU scenario that is developed, nuanced and interesting, but still works within canon.  That is hard.  Especially for a reader like me that isn’t that big into AUs, but I am into hers.  This is why I am so lucky that she wanted to do In the Dark with me.
19. Did/do you write for any other fandoms? If so which ones? I did write for Radio Free Roscoe back in the day.
20. In your spare time (when you’re not writing) what other hobbies do you pursue? I listen to a metric ton of podcasts.  They usually fall into three camps: ratchetry with social commentary, social commentary, and true crime.  I have tons of recommendations.  Feel free to ask.  I also do a lot of reading and I have been trying to get back into watching TV series and Netflix.  When I am not doing those things, I am indulging my hair product obsession.
So I am not going to tag a bunch of people since a lot of the people I have tagged have done this already
I am tagging: @i-dream-so-i-write  @lizzybeth1986  @mrswalkerwrites  @kingliamthirst   @umccall71
