#thats my honest reaction 😐 #to be fair ive only seen 20 minutes of the s1 finale bc my parents are watching it but. mmmmm kinda mid #like. the casting is definitely an improvement since the last time they tried a live action but it feels like the writing falls flat #or maybe im being harsh bc ive only heard negative criticism on it beforehand. but fr anytime u bring up the original its already #good and not just because its the original. so much fucking detail went into it to the point of someone noticing azula wielding mai's knive #to how well thought out irohs character is used as a way of uniting the cast especially as zukos foil #i heard that sokkas sexism was toned down and i have to agree that feels like a cheap move. like i get WHY they think it would be better #but its not about how that reflects on real world its about how it affects the story. sokka starts out as a misogynistic asshole because #it makes it that much more impactful when he changes. toning that down makes it flatter and makes his character development weak #and someone pointed out they didnt even make him wear the kyoshi warrior uniform and i know it feels like such a small detail but #come on man. they did that in the original because not only does it help him really walk in their shoes - wearing 'feminine' clothing and #makeup and having suki explain its significance but it also ties in with the shows theme of harmony and intersectionality #i was also disappointed when they had the fire sages explain how the water tribe draws power from the moon because in the original it was #IROH who explained it to aang and everyone else BECAUSE we as the audience is under the impression hes with the 'bad guys' #and it builds up to how he learned from the other nations which reconciles his past as a war general and his character overall #AND its an excellent starting point for the cast and audience to understand how the nations arent as closed off as you would think #plus you would think its only fire nation doing propaganda but they expanded on that with earth kingdom censorship and it WORKS #a lot of things in the live action also feel arbitrary like. they gave momo a near death experience for 5 minutes for no reason #im firmly on the stance of bringing back filler moments instead of putting major events right after each other so that u give your #audience a sense of time passing and to really absorb the story. but i think thats more like shock value than filler and yeah its a small #thing to gripe about but those things build up and its really annoying. the thing abt avatar filler moments is that however small #its at least meaningful. hell even the beach episode emphasizes how isolated zuko and his friends are as child soldiers #i also swore to never watch the first live action since it was that bad but i really liked the stylized tattoos they used for aang #anyway. those arejust my thoughts. im not gonna watch the rest because im a ride or die for the original aftr growing up and #rewatching it at least 20 times as a kid. but theres definitely room for improvement and i wish ppl wouldnt take it as 'better' just cuz #netflix is adapting it. i wouldve killed for them to just reanimate the entire avatar series and touch NOTHING ELSE no redub #no changes to the story. just reanimate the thing and leave the rest alone and youd make easy money just the same #ALSO its very jarring not hearing jack desena and dante basco voicing sokka and zuko cause their voices were the most recognizable to me #i get that its because its live action but im allowed to feel a little sad abt that. and uncle irohs accent was really soothing #yapping

Sometimes I give serious thought to wondering if losing Autobot Megatron would be worth having a MTMTE/LL that wasn't derailed by his presence. Because like as a writer I feel like JRO shouldn't have derailed his own story just to get to write his pet character, but on the other hand, mmm, then Megatron probably would've just gotten a lame ass "and then he was executed/in jail forever" ending in the hands of any other writer.

Do I think that Gray’s arc could have been handled way better? Yes. Do I think there were better options than brainwashing him? Yes. Do I like the brainwashing storyline? YES I DOOOO MMMMM

See cuz its so interesting!!! It’s got a lot of potential!! Carmen didn’t seem to know VILE could tap into the minds of people. I think it wouldve been so interesting if she made more of a point to look into this- to figure out how VILE was doing this and why. What if VILE mindwipes them into sleeper agents? Do they have complete control over the minds? Could ANYONE she run into be mindless sleeper agents for VILE?  and what about her old friendship with gray? Does it hurt that he doesnt remember her, even though they were definitively enemies after the train in paris? Does morals of honesty and being true to yourself matter to her in this instance, like it does for gray later on?

Grian: (maybe demi?) gay/bi? He went out with bigb in highschool and besides that has no other significant relationships other than with mumscarian. Hes had crushes on women before though

Mumbo: bi, with a heavy preference towards men. He tends to fall in love with his best friends no matter the gender.

Etho: spent many years thinking he was completely aro and ace. Then he met bdubs. (Demi)

Bdubs: pan, but finds it easier to hook up with men so thats his practical preference.

Doc: mmmmm…. Bi, with no preference for any gender. He’s in an open relationship with ren because while he loves the guy, they both like experiencing new things

Thank you for not taking that badly! It’s hard for me to express my opinions online because people reads tone differently than how you’d intend for them to read it. On Twitter… people are split. People either really loveeeee it or people really hateeeeee it. There’s barely any in between. Some people are saying that Harlow likes to fuck dead bodies (don’t even ask), some people are saying they think it’s more generic than 7 (I very much disagree with that point. Even if you dislike 3D, you have to admit that production and vocal wise, it’s a lot less simple than 7), and some others are dickriding hard and saying there’s no flaws in anything that JK does, that JK is extremely sexy in this one (I mean… I don’t disagree), etc. The usual twitter stuff.

I listened to both the alternate and the original and my ONE WISH for 3D is that after Harlow’s second verse in the original, the last few verses from the Alternate version starting from 1 minute 49 seconds was added to the OG song. I wish JK ended the song, that would truly tie it together for me.

What detail in situation overload (do it for baltimore) are you really proud of? the fact that every single game is accurate to real life? lol im only half joking, i am really proud of that. also though you pointed this one out but i am pretty proud of the link between alex quoting shakespeare/"shall i compare thee to a summer's day" in that one scene and then in the later scene having jack compare alex to a summer's day. i think that was a clever little moment. also, any time i get to make anyone quote shakespeare it's a good day for me.

5. What do you wish someone would ask you about situation overload (do it for baltimore)? Answer it now! this is a hard question because i don't wait for people to ask me about my fics, i just talk about them unsolicited. i wish someone would ask me "hey bella, how were you able to include such specific details about the games?" to which i would reply WELL, you see, i used this website baseball-reference.com and i had links to the play-by-plays for each game that occurred during the fics. for example here is the first game of the season, the one they watch in the first section. it has the score, the start time, and the duration at the top, and when you scroll down you get to the play-by-play of the game itself. so this line in the fic:

corresponds to this (highlighted) part of the play-by-play on the site:

and for every single time that i wanted to make reference to what was happening in the game, i would first have to check this handy website to figure out what exactly was happening in the game, more or less at that moment. there you go.

6. What’s one fact about the universe of you seem so damn familiar that you didn’t get a chance to mention in the fic itself? oh!!!! i have a real answer for this!!!!! okay so the fic starts just as the it's still nothing personal tour ("""tour""", it was three shows) was supposed to start, meaning that zack and rian would have been in LA with jack and alex. but when alex says that he wants to talk to zack and rian, jack tells him that they live in hawaii and nashville respectively (true), which begs the question...why aren't they in LA? wouldnt they have been there for the tour?? and the answer is that they were there for a bit, but when the tour was cancelled, they went home, because they had no reason to stay in LA. this was actually unfortunate for me because i kind of thought it would be nice to have the two of them see and speak to alex in person in real life, but i could not justify making them stay in LA that long for absolutely no reason. like realistically they wouldve just gone home. so that's why they're home when alex wants to talk to them. there are actually a fair amount of unspoken facts about sdf 'verse, but that's one.

21. If you wrote a “missing scene” in you seem so damn familiar, what would it be? mmmmm that's a good question. honestly i think it would be some angst. something involving alex waking up in the middle of the night and for a split second he's so disoriented he can't remember anything and is having trouble figuring out what's real and what's the present vs the past and then after a minute at most he sort of collects himself and reality kicks in but it leaves him really shaken because like...it would be terrifying to lose your grasp on reality like that. i imagine that jack would also be awake for this in whatever capacity because angst is always better when there's a second person. i thought about including a scene like this when i was writing the fic but i couldnt find a good moment for it so it never happened.

9. How do you find new fic to read? every single day i open the jack barakat/alex gaskarth ao3 tag and every single day there is never anything new. aside from that, i usually find it from the self promo channel or from what people post on tumblr. i wouldnt say i read a TON of fic lately so im not gonna waste my precious time reading fic written by people that arent my ~friends~

15. What’s your favorite AU that you’ve written? amnesia AU is up there for sure!!! only because it was such a delicate balance between making it true to science and also making it compelling as a narrative, and memory is already a FASCINATING topic for me, so altogether it was just really fun and cool to write. im a big fan of every college AU ive written because they all have that dash of realism from my actual life injected in them and that's fun. and then also i really enjoyed writing these days you've been stuck in my brain, the rilex soulmates telepathy AU. it's a very creative idea and a fun twist on a soulmate AU and it's always fun to get to write a classic AU in a new way. like soulmate AUs will never be tired because there are so many different ways to do them and i like that the telepathy one is different. and cool. anddddd, ummmmmmmm, the post-apocalyptic AU in ashes to ashes. one day i will write that god damn post-apocalyptic fic ive dreamt about. One Day.

Link a fic that made you think, “Wow, I want to write like that.” GLADLY, please enjoy Cardiac Attack In The Cradle Of The Summer by my second-best frenemy, orphan_account. this is one of the few fics that i can reread over and over and over without getting tired of it. it is so good. and it has this line:

Story Time: Mirthe and Summer go see Tangram, part 2

here we are again five months after part 1, one day before part 3

i had basically accepted that i wouldn’t see tgm again during my year in china

but!!! the amazing @91percentchaoze did it once again and got me to see our boys

and this time was even more magical than last time

so we went to the 酷狗show idk what it’s called 

so first i want to mention TangramSubs翻译组 made these kickass focus banners and these cute af keychains that everyone wanted

so at first Summer and I were just sitting at a cafe having a drink

and she told everyone who wanted a banner to come find the foreigner with the pink hair (aka me)

but nobody found us so we went back and the banners were gone like immediately just in case y’all didn’t believe me abt how amazing the banners were

and so we stayed at the entrance of the venue, collecting more banners waiting to go in

but like… for the venue we had to go upstairs, but we were waiting downstairs and next to the stairs was an entrance to the parking lot

and summer was like doing something on her phone 

when suddenly i looked behind her and saw a wild jingzuo appear

and i subtly told summer tO LOOK UP BC TGM IS LITERALLY EBHIND HER

they just walked by to go inside, and everyone was so chill just staring at them taking pics, saying hi 

meanwhile the bodyguard or whatever was pretending we were jumping them holding us back for no reason it was kind of funny

and summer swears honglin recognized me i refuse to believe that but i also want to believe that

so then after a while (and more people asking summer for banners) we went inside

and got front row bitchachos

so the rest u can all see in the livestream but i’m still gonna tell u everything live with it

so we sat there, front row with summer’s way too bright 超 sign

and when they came up, after radiant chaoze saw us and waved at us and honglin smiled at us and i made direct eye contact with the demon lrt for a solid 20 seconds

so they had to fill in that thingie, chaoze asked the audience to sing for him it was so cute 

the mc also asked people to touch qzx’s chest which i think should’ve been summer but the mc did it himself in the end, that man living the dream

and yeah they were overall the funniest cutest boys the entire time

i’m still mad abt how great jingzuo’s make up was????

they asked fans to go on stage and play games with them several times

and of course summer was like U HAVE TO GO MIRTHE!!!!

the first game I wouldve been able to do I guess but it wouldve been awkward probs bc they wouldve expected me to know the western songs but lol no

and teh second game was guessing a chinese word so ha no and the words were really difficult so

but chaoze always kinda went mmmmm foreigner? no this game is in chinese

so!!!! then they needed 2 people to come on stage again 

and summer of course was pointing at me like crazy again

but as i hadnt been paying attention i didn’t know what was going on

so when chaoze first looked at me like ‘you want to?’ i was like wait summer what’s going on

but nobody wanted to and chaoze kept asking me jkjadkgjk so i went on stage

and they wanted to learn us the dance to 陪在你身边 (quite problematic because i cannot dance!!)

and csjkgjdf chaoze was the cutest boy ever he kept looking back like “GOT IT? :DDDDD” no but i can’t tell u that to ur face bc ur too cute

and uwu honglin came to my side of the stage to translate for me and the entire time he kept smiling at me and i legit could cry he really shouldnt have i’m even more in love with him now help me

and at this one point he asked me if i was ok when i looked at him a bit lost and i swear i died right there and then ripping my heart out giving it to him

chaoze was just so excited to teach us and it was so hard jfdkgd but it was so much fun and even tho we sucked he looked so proud of us lmao 

and just he kept smiling at us excitedly and i just wanted to smooch his cute face right there he’s such a baby 

and then we did it on music and honglin told me ‘it’s a little bit faster’ and i gave him the side eye like binch it probably is a lot faster and i already forgot the steps but thank u for translating/telling me i love u sm (i’m vc i swear)

and i was right it was a lot faster and i forgot half the steps but they still told me i did good and i looked at everyone like mm binch and honglin just smILED more and i’m so angry stop smiling at me i’m sO WEAK 

this is a mess but it took me forever to be able to write this and summer please add everything I forgot bc i think it’s pretty clear that this time I’m the mess and you’re the one who kept things together

fp and billy definitely share a lot of similarities, but the biggest difference between them is.... fps not an asshole lmao i mean, he has his moments but he’s not an outright bully. i totally believe fred and fp have gotten into physical fights in their youth (and as adults), but they were never near the extent billy and steves altercation was. that would primarily be because fred and fp started out as friends. so ultimately, fps goal would never be to hurt fred to such a severe degree

fred i could see taking the steve route of just trying to ignore the guy in hopes he backs off. freds not a fighter unless he’s backed into a corner, and he absolutely would fight back if he was protecting someone else, like steve was with the kids. thats a big fred move

and while we have yet to see how harringrove will develop over time, if they ever become more than foes, a common theme in fics is steve mellowing billy out, being a calming presence, a good influence. and thats definitely what fred is for fp. i mean... we’ve seen that in canon. FP WOULDVE BEEN SOBER TODAY IF THEY JUST KEPT THAT FUCKING DELETED SCENE IN SO!! YA KNOW!! 

i do gotta say tho.... if anyone ever wanted to write a lil au that had fred and fp start out with billy and steves dynamic.... just fp constantly poking at fred, pulling his pigtails, trying to get a reaction, lashing out after some violent encounter with his dad.... mmmmm. that gets my dick hard i wont lie
