#i'm very high and i'm thinking VERY hard abt the canon ships
Note
ngl ur last post abt mike and sol kinda makes me ship them
I wouldn't say I ship them, but I think they have the potential for a very interesting dynamic that I'm looking forward to being expanded upon in later chapters. I suppose this is as good a chance as any to summarize what I've gleaned from both games so far- I think y'all know by now just how much I like talking about Mikey.
Fair warning, there will be spoilers up ahead, for both the third season of the OG game and the first season of Nightbringer. I'll remain as vague as I can while still getting the point across, but they're rather large spoilers.
Solomon and Michael's Relationship
(The Impromptu Essay)
In Nightbringer, it seems like Michael has a similar relationship to Solomon that Nightbringer does- in terms of being a high-status being much more powerful than Solomon himself, who grants Solomon certain favors and protections and watching over him in a way.
For one, he gave Solomon the Ring of Wisdom, which as essentially the twin to the Ring of Light is likely very important to Michael. A few lines of dialogue in the OG game also imply that Michael cleaning up after Solomon's messes is a rather regular occurrence.
Speaking of those lines of dialogue... I think one of the most telling scenes about their relationship was the brief, one-sided conversation Michael had with MC in the OG game, after fixing a little (big) magic fiasco related to Solomon's cooking. Now, disclaimer, this scene is technically ambiguous, but "???" on a blinding light background seems pretty safe to assume as Michael considering the other times we've had this.
"He's a truly decent human with a good head on his shoulders, but sometimes he can be more troublesome than the demons."
The first thing Michael (or, who we can assume to be Michael) says here is essentially defending Solomon's character. This is clearly someone he knows personally, and to some degree trusts if he's willing to give him benefit of the doubt like this. That said, he's clearly exasperated. A real "god damnit, Solomon" moment.
"He acts as though he understands his own power, but he doesn't. Which is why his strange fascination with cooking of all things causes me no end of..."
This is the line I was talking about, that implied that Michael cleaning up after Solomon is a semi-regular occurrence. It definitely seems like this isn't the first time Michael has dealt with something like this from Solomon. And if it's affecting him personally like this, it's clearly something he feels some level of responsibility over.
Solomon and his antics clearly aren't insignificant to him. And from the looks of things, they haven't been for a long time- just a little while prior to this scene, a pre-fall Lucifer states that Michael has taken an interest in "a human sorcerer", implying this dynamic between the two of them started before Lucifer fell.
All in all... Solomon is someone that Michael on some level respects and trusts, but also a royal pain in the ass to look after. Which was the basis of that original post.
Now, with the groundwork of their canon relationship and the cold hard evidence out of the way, this is where I'm going to start getting into speculative (and semicoherent rambling) territory.
I think Michael and Solomon create an interesting mix of personalities. While Michael appears to be "the responsible one" of the relationship, he's constantly cleaning up after Solomon after all, I wouldn't exactly say he's a responsible person in his own right. At the end of the first season of Nightbringer, we see he has a tendency to deflect any conversation he doesn't like and literally run away from his problems. We also see throughout Nightbringer that Michael likes playing some major mind games to get what he wants, often with clear disregard for other people. He seems to be most comfortable playing 4d chess with people from a distance to avoid having to confront his feelings directly. He's manipulative and mischievous in order to cover up deep-seated feelings of loneliness- something Solomon can very much relate to.
I feel like Solomon would be one of the few who has the patience for Michael's mind games. Solomon isn't above these kinds of games himself, after all- it takes one to know one. Puzzles are something that fascinate Solomon, and let's face it he needs the intellectual stimulation. He's just as bored and lonely as Michael is. Enough that he just might toy with him right back.
Solomon is also quick-witted and observant enough to be able to tell when Michael is trying to deflect things or pull a fast one, and call him out on it- which, honestly, might be for Michael's own good at this point. Somebody needs to tell this man no, and somehow I don't think any of the angels underneath him are going to do it. Speaking of which...
Solomon also seems to have a unique take on authority when compared to basically any other character. While most characters- angels especially, including former angels like Lucifer- view things very hierarchically, Solomon doesn't seem to see things this way. He has no problem sassing Nightbringer and calling him out on things, despite Nightbringer having a clear position of power over him and it essentially being biting the hand that feeds you. Solomon could very well be the one person with the nerve to treat Michael as an equal. Which creates a very interesting dynamic.
All in all, I'm very excited to see where Solomon and Michael's relationship goes. I mean, I'm excited to see more of Michael at all, but I think these two especially are a real point of interest.

well. obligatory normscary ask. but as a back up if youve already gotten one of those - figayda beloveds
Hihihihi Travvy hope you're having a wonderful day!!! 🧡🧡🧡Now. OBLIGATORY NORMSCARY ANSWER. And also a Figayda answer bc I love them also!
Normscary: Ship It (💙💜) / Don't Ship It
What made you ship it?
Um. Blinks at you. Points at you. Ssdbghsbfkbsbhbs at first I didn't ship it at all bc I was so very into Oakworthy and whatever Scary/Erica/Margarita have going on in my brain, respectively, but your insistence paid off and also multishipping is beautiful forever <333 And then this all happened to coincide with certain events in canon and I was like. Okay yeah. Yeah I get it now.
What are your favorite things about the ship?
Speaking of canon events! I really, really, really like how these two have grown to foil and parallel each other in SO many interesting ways. Which personally adds more fuel to the shipping fire for me! Very two-sides-of-the-same-coin meets opposites-attract imo. Like I said with Cheerkicks, they both have a lot more in common than I think they're really aware of, if that makes sense!
Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
I don't think so! I just think they should kiss. I also really enjoy them as being part of a polywagon situation or as Marloakworthy <333
Figayda: Ship It (❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥) / Don't Ship It
What made you ship it?
This feels like too easy of an answer, but Sophomore Year! I remember scrolling through Fantasy High fics on ao3 after finishing Freshman Year and being like ??? Oh there's someone related to Aguefort??? And they're popularly shipped with Fig, of all people??? Huh. Guess it must be a SY thing. Smash cut to me giggling and kicking my feet upon getting introduced to Ayda and being absolutely overjoyed bc the only thing I could think about was "oh this ship is going to be so cute isn't it I'm going to be feeling like this abt them constantly???" And I was right!!!
What are your favorite things about the ship?
Truly just the. Unlikeliness of it all. Cloistered wizard pirate harpy lady falling hard for the rock n roll wild child tiefling bard with a heart of gold,,, and then said bard being such a bisexual mess about her own feelings in response. The panicked "I kiss her and then I skateboard away!!!" lives Rent Fucking Free in my brain at all times. Also Emily and Brennan portray their relationship so beautifully??? Like truly they had me tearing up at multiple points. I think Fig and Ayda both work very hard to understand each other and communicate properly and that earnest aspect of it combined with all the giddy fluffy high school romance stuff is like kryptonite to me. Congrats you two that's almost the best anyone has ever done it!!!
Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
Honestly??? I don't think I've poked around in the d20/Fantasy High fandoms enough to know what is and isn't a popular opinion about them. So I'm gonna echo what I said for Normscary: I just want them to kiss!!! And cuddle. And be cute. Forever <333
Bonus: some live reaction screenshots of me reacting to figayda. That you have already seen. Bc I was talking to you afvashvfhksvfs. But I felt that they should also be immortalized here bc I have not been Visibly Insane abt them much online (yet) (if something bad happens to them in Junior Year I will never recover) <3

i hate times up me and all my homies hate times up
also gonna throw the janitor always mops twice in here cuz i wanna hear u talk abt it. disappointment central right there
Oh boy. Disagree. I like BOTH those episodes. Sorry, I know you wanted hate but I can only give love.
I will explain myself.
Times Up: I actually in my drafts have a huge essay about Times Up half finished that I hope to finish some day soon because I have so many thoughts about it but for this post I will try and keep it brief. Key word being TRY as I could talk for days about Times Up haha.
I get a lot of people hate it for shipping reasons but if you take a step back from that it's a really good episode about sexual assault imo. (tw for discussions about fictional sexual assault and how the episode comments on real assault ahead)
The fact that the episode takes place in a sexual assault seminar about workplace sexual harassment highlights the fact that the gang are all coworkers, reminding the audience that that adds a specific dynamic to the ways the gang treat one another, even as lifelong friends. Now, I will talk about the shipping more in that essay I'm writing, but for now I want to talk about the episode outside of that. Each character represents a different version of sexual harassment/assault.
Mac is careless, doing things like lifting Dee into the air by her crotch or trying to kiss Dennis not because he wants to harm either of them, but because he does things without thinking a lot of the time and is very impulsive (which is very in character for him imo!). But regardless of his motivation, those two things are still both sexual harassment.
Charlie thinks he stalked (is it actually canon that he stopped stalking her after they slept together or does he still do it? that was always unclear to me) The Waitress as a sign of love, as a lot of stalkers do. Again, something that's been very consistent with his character. But just like with Mac, his motivation doesn't matter, his actions do.
Frank is of course our stereotypical Quid Pro Quo case, more obviously in your face about the way he harmed women who worked under him at his old company. I get why some wouldn't find the way they use that for comic relief funny, but I personally like the way they handle it--there's never a doubt in anyone's mind that Frank hurt those women, and the joke is always on Frank finally feeling the heat he deserves for what he did to them and not on the victims. It doesn't matter that that was "what the times were like back that", Frank deserves to at the very least feel shitty for what he did. His part also highlights exactly why some states want to get rid of statute of limitation laws--which yeah! They should get rid of them! Because of the exact reason the episode shows--just because it happened years ago doesn't mean it didn't happen.
Dee spends the whole episode on her high horse because she sees the issue as a women vs men issue (as a lot of people do!) and doesn't think that she could ever possibly be persecuted since she's a woman. But that doesn't matter--she's still canonically assaulted multiple men! And I know some people don't like that they had it be that she raped Charlie specifically but I think it was a good writing decision. Here me out. The vast majority of rape is perpetrated by family members or close friends, because those are most often the people who are close enough to us to cause that kind of harm and manipulate victims into staying quiet. The reveal that Dee raped Charlie is another hard hitting point the episode is making about SA--that you can be friends with someone, even have romantic chemistry with them, but that doesn't excuse raping them. Even if, as in Dee's case, she didn't really think about what she was doing or conceptualize it as rape until it was pointed out to her. The point is that none of the characters THINK they are perpetrators, that they all have reasons and excuses that justify the things they do (just like real life perpetrators always have some sort of internal reason justifying their actions), but that doesn't change the facts of what they did. If the fact that all the characters are perpetrators to some degree makes you comfortable--good! It should! It's trying to challenge perceptions about assault, challenge the idea of what a victim looks like, what a perpetrator looks like, how the same person can be both a victim and a perpetrator, and to show how normalized assault is in the gang's lives and in society in general.
Now, savvy readers may have noticed I haven't mentioned Dennis yet. And that's because I think a lot of people misunderstand the way Dennis is being used in this episode, so I wanted to lay the groundwork for his section first. A lot of people dislike that Dennis is the one to point out the flaws of the others and the fact that Dennis is the one who set up the seminar when he's the worst of them all but--that's kind of the point. Dennis commits serial sexual assault and is able to get away with it because he cloaks himself in the progressive language of the MeToo movement and falsifies evidence. Dennis is the most dangerous of all because unlike the others, he DOES understand consent, he is FULLY AWARE that what he's doing is assault and therefor knows exactly what he needs to do to legally hide it. Dennis is NOT supposed to be in the right here. Like the audience surrogates (the people hired to teach the seminar), we are supposed to think Dennis is an idiot and kind of terrifying, not agree with everything he says just because he knows which words to use.
A lot of people call this episode "wildly out of character" but I don't understand that at all--it follows up on things which have been previously established with each character. The whole point is that the world is changing, they can't keep treating people and each other the way they do and keep expecting to get away with it. Even for someone like Dennis who has a whole system of manipulation and all these practiced ways not to get caught Time. Is. UP! The point is that, while Dennis may be better at getting away with shit than the others, that doesn't mean he's safe and that's a good thing. It feels very hopeful to me. And yeah I think it's funny. I know that's very subjective so I don't really know how to explain beyond "it makes me hahaha".
Mops Twice: I'm not sure why this episode would be considered "disappointing" (I'd love to know why you describe it that way!) because I think it's super fun. I love the references to the way old films were edited and shot, I love the whole grey-scale with red thing the episode has going on--it gives it a very unique flavor. I love the costumes, I love the way Charlie's narration is written like he's a detective in an old serial. I love the twist that The Waitress is running things and poisoning people It's so girlboss of her and one of the most fun things they've done with her character imo. I know people don't like that The Waitress is flirty with Charlie, but that's because the episode is from Charlie's perspective, it's how he interprets their probably not at all actually flirty interactions. Plus this episode is just really funny to me. My wife and I quote "bleach, the universal poison antidote" at each other all the time. I love Charlie focused episodes and this is no exception. And I love when they do new and more out there things like this too. I think it's part of what gives the series it's personality and I love it.

On ep6 of Alchemy of Souls and one thing is making me laugh is the way other charas are like:" ah yes. Jang Uk and his maid who follows him everywhere, they're inseparable. if u know what I mean ;]"
I swear everybody (except Seo Yul somewhat bc he is suspicious abt Naksu and hs noticed Jang Uk improvement and shaneaningans is related to her) (also danggu who thinks somehow Yul and Mudeok have been romancing), everybody except those two above thinks Mudeok is Uk lover.
I men they're trying to marry off Jang Uk to Jin Choyeon(?) (did I wrote that right?) and everybody is like. Oh, what is going to be of poor Mudeok, surely she would/wouldn't follow him into the marriage. The implication being that she's either so close that is unimaginable she's gonna be left behind or so close she surely wouldn't be in the sme house as Uk official spouse.
I'm hollering bc I think Naksu knows this and is playing along when it suits her, see; her combo with the crown prince. Also, Jang Uk wishes he could be that secure in being Naksu's, his jealousy is very funny which is a new one for me. Usually I detest when people use jealousy in the rom plot but as he does nothing but nag at Naksu "please let it be clear I'm your one and only student and like, don't let other guys close enough to your eyes, for security of course" is almost sad.
When has someone last had such high expectations of him?? And said the ugly things to his face but also didn't think he was lesser bc he was a bastard or incorregible?? I mean valid criticism (although Naksu does go hard on him lol) to make him improve, not just demoralize him. Of course he's afraid she'll go with Seo Yul who seems to have some kind of history with her and is powerful and respected, etc. So like. It makes sense why Jang Uk is clingy and gets jealous easy.
I get more annoyed by the way he can be so so avoidant of what he doesn't like, which leads him to be an asshole to Naksu after all the trouble he went to make her his master. (but also flawed charas, yay! and then naksu goes, oh this how you're gonna be?? what if it's live or death then, you idiot? gonna go do what you were avoiding and want to secretly do now, eh? she knows how to push his buttons so well XD)
Also love how when he flirts or is saying nonsense and Naksu will just. Not take it seriously and tease him about how nonserious it is lol XD She has no time for all those convoluted side romances you silly guy. Their most rom moments are also the more serious, less outwardly romantic, just, the way their goals align and they take risk for each other, or they have serious conversations for once.
I almost though for a bit in ep1 and 2 that Seo Yul would be the ML, and Jang Uk the one with the more developed non rom relationship everyone shipped more with Naksu, lol. I was almost fine with it??? Bc I care about character building a lot, and him and Naksu were so interesting from the start for me that I went, ah the old boring romance VS complicated platonic/rom not canon ship which the writers are too cowards to canonized.
Then I noticed our protag was a woman this time!!! (the above scenario is usually a boring het vs fanon slash ship lol) Watched ep3!!! And noticed too, that Jang Uk is the one with the heavy plot and narrative sharing with Naksu (to the point she's feeling a bit shadowed by his King Star deal thing. but generally I like how they're juggling the two protags style!!) who gets into problems for her and bc of her and viceversa, while Seo Yul is a tsuntsun who can't deal lol
Anyways I'm enjoying a lot Alchemy of Souls, although the plot and the worldbuilding are not anything extraordinary and fall a bit into "meh" for me sometimes, bc I love the charas and dynamics of our two protags!!
Can't wait for ep7 tonight.

002 for Alucard x Pico? 👀
What makes me happy about them: The development the relationship can get when done right, and just the idea of the domestic side of things (nonsexual massages, one seeing the other make breakfast for them, showers together, cheesy stuff like that)
My thoughts: Done no wrongs ever, absolutely zip, perfect and flawless. Alucard/Pico will always be an OG this blog was built upon, without them this blog would likely not exist or be very boring 💀
When I started shipping them: I knew abt PS for a while n never got into it until Tyrone started their blog n I saw FNF. Me n Ty drabbled w the idea n it had a high during COVID bc of the time inside (I think) and idk, just became a ship that could never go wrong. And then you and your little gay pico came along and now he's dating two picos, both are picos he (and I) love very very much :)
Things done in fanfic that annoys me: While yes I was guilty of this in my early stages of this blog, it still annoys me. It's the thing where you want growth in the ship but you give it the bear fucking minimum that it just seems bland and dry. Like, oh, you hate this person with your entire being? Okay then, I'm gonna make you have feelings for them and not at all heal and cope with your trauma despite them being a large tie into it, good luck! I rlly regret that moment of my blog, bc while yeah it was fun it was also just lazy development and I could've done better lol
Things I look for in fanfic: Our RP's n me n Ty's silent ass communication bc we were both scared to talk to each other r good examples of this when I say I love seein growth in their relationship. I like the bitter moments bc it's reasonable and while it's definitely hard for the characters to go through, they eventually have a clear mind where they come to terms with whatever patch they're goin thru rn and idk, it's just nice seein the rough patches in their relationships from time to time. But there's also little to no fics on them either so yippie!! /sarc
What makes me sad about them: Many things make me sad abt them, from the fact seeing Pico after a school nightmare can possibly make him worse, to the fact Alucard had many failed children and breakdowns when making Axel (Triggcrhappy), they're just such a nice ship for when yer feelin soft n when you're feeling angsty, personal favorite ship ever
My wishlist: idk man... dogs r pretty cute... especially for two lil gays with little to no experience in relationships /hj
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: If we're talkin canon (both wotgp n picos school) I wouldn't rlly care if they weren't canon bc I've accepted that it's very much impossible n it wouldn't work out in their sources. I would kill n maim for Pico to canonically be dating Darnell and for Cy, Alucard, n Hanzou to be in a poly. Beggin rn bro ☹️
My happily ever after for them: I just rlly look forward for the moment where they look at each other n just get so happy seein the other. I yearn for the morning where Pico or Alucard will turn to the side all groggy like and once they see their boyfriend just being there n sleepin, everything is okay, that early morning anger is just gone bc they have the other there for them, they're in love n they're adorable 😭😭

Is it bad that I really enjoyed reading the kinda fandom history/fanw*nk history posts abt j*nsa? XD Tbf I'm also a bit addicted to fanlore articles. XD Anyway I think in the tags of one post you mentioned j*imexs*nsa starting as an antijb thing? Would you mind elaborating on that? Sounds like an interesting, albeit bonkers, story, too.
dw I don't think it's bad I mean... we all enjoy catching up on wank we weren't part of (and my friends the things I could tell you abt spn fandom or when I was around at the sidelines for the worst rpf fic ever..) but anyway *deep breath* SURE THING LET'S SAY IT I mean....... it's not like it hasn't been years and I can talk abt it so whatevs, under the cut because reasons, also I'm saying now that a lot of this was what I deduced from circumstances and you've got to take my word for it unless someone who was around then remembers it and can confirm my impressions bc it was a lot less obvious than the j*nsa stuff
but going from the premises again:
I got a tumblr in like may 2011, read asoiaf june-july of that year, started being active on the tags around august-september 2011 so it was before S2 aired and 95% of the people that were bnfs/around then aren't on tumblr anymore/are here rarely these days so you've gotta take me at face value
in the main asoiaf bnf group there was this one jc shipper who like... I mean she's still active on twt and blocks everyone shipping jb on sight but good bc let's just say she's a piece of work not to mention that she spent months/years writing meta abt how jb was like fanfic stuff and had no book basis and how if you liked j but not c you were a misogynists which was wildly popular
I would like to add that person is basically... let's say everyone in jb fandom who ever got harassed knows exactly who I'm talking about and I'll leave it at that and was not for ship and let ship let's put it like that
so basically this person was on my dash bc I followed ppl who followed her and I saw a lot of jaimes*nsa stuff from her
in the sense that like... she was doing with it what I did with jonc/brynden back in the day when I was wanting to convince the world they were the crackship that was promised as in posting abt it/spamming it/discussing how it made canon sense/more canon sense than jb anyway and the likes, and like there was a fairly numerous amount of stuff for that ship back in the day - like before S2-3 aired jaimes*nsa had pretty high fic numbers/fanwork numbers considering that in canon they haven't interacted once
and that went hand in hand with keeping on trying to burn ground around jb before S2 aired/before they met in canon with that meta
and like... it's not like it started as an antijb thing in itself bc I'm sure that there must have been someone into it before the show aired same as there were ppl who as I was reminded lately wrote brienne/loras hatesex and so on, but the explosion which was during S1-3 (then it lost a bit of traction I think mostly bc jb exploded and sansa/tyrion happened on the show and the ppl involved kind of went more on twitter and didn't produce that much content anymore tho it still has numbers™) was also continuously fanned by person above + her followers who most likely were like... genuinely into it but again the antijb meta was around quite enough at the same time, so
also like... let's just say that back in the day I was the main t*robb ship contributor and I also wrote jb though less but jb was smaller as a fandom so I did post when the ao3 tag was at like... 30 fics or smth so I separately had my foot in both ponds and like until S3-S4 any t*robb fic where jb was the sideship would get tangentially less views/reviews than ones where they were not which in itself wouldn't be a problem bc obviously maybe ppl wouldn't ship one of them, but then there was this uuuh specific case
where someone who followed me for the t*robb who also followed her at some point asked me in private if a 22k t*robb fic that was the sequel to... my most famous/popular jb one let's put like that had a lot of jb in it because they were die hard jc people and it was triggering to them (which... I mean fair enough but in retrospective using that term instead of 'you know I really don't vibe with jb and I'd rather not read it' felt a bit like they were trying to guilt trip me ngl), I said that they showed up together in two scenes and were in the background and at most it was 1k worth of fic and the answer was that it was way too much so they were going to have to skip and like again their prerogative but idk that conversation kind of left me like is this some kind of roundabout way to say that it'd be better if I didn't sideship them? idk but until S3-4 I had the distinct feeling that at least for my own stuff having both ships together meant less readers and ngl I didn't update the infamous t*robb wip fic for a year because I was planning to make jb fairly prominent as a sideship there and I was there like 'oh god what if I get wank over it' and I didn't but again I would like to state it wasn't just because of one person, it was... the general atmosphere that seemed unfriendly unless you stayed on the jb tag/kept both separate
and I would like to add that the moment S3 happened and it sailed anyway bc it was going to was when the targeted harassing of anyone who was active on the tag started ssssso :|
basically like... I have a lot less evidence to go on re ^^^^ than the j*nsa stuff because that is well-documented the rest is my very humble opinion about the background of when j*aimesansa started getting popular but like it also was v. prominent in between jc people (same with the jcsansa threesomes) who were also following that person - I would like to also add that a bunch of ppl who shipped both were absolutely lovely and nice to interact with in other situations and not harassing anyone about it and again nothing against ppl into it as a thing but the moment of its peak was in conjuncture to the burning ground around jb moment driven by that specific person so *shrug*

If we're still theorising about when Bill could have potentially had other kids, i'm not sure there's reason to assume he was the same age as the other parents. I always assumed he was at least in his 50s if not older during season one given that he was retired (plus i doubt Bill would settle down young)
I cannot stress enough that I'm Always still thinking and theorizing about Bill Seacaster. Anyway, I think this is a fair possibility, though I personally don't agree, if only because I have an Image in my head of what 50 looks like (especially on a black man) and Bill's official art just looks So Young.
Also, in my head (and I cannot stress enough that I think about the seacaster parents a Lot), bill was very poor, maybe on leviathan or maybe elsewhere, it doesn't really matter (he says he built himself from the ground up, that it was hard work and it made him tough or smth like that in s1 when he fights fabian) so i think it makes sense to think that his life could've been: stowaway/bottom of the ladder worker on a ship at a very young age -> joins real pirate crew and begins working way up -> gets own ship or, more probably, kills the old captain of a ship and just takes it -> sails the seas being a terror until he meets hallariel, falls in love, and has fabian. After fabian is born, I'm fairly certain bill canonically continued to be a pirate (brennan mentioned smth abt cathilda singing to soothe fabian's nerves when his dad was away Doing Pirating if my memory serves) and he only beaches the original hangman when it's time for fabian to go to high school, so i think its Possible that bill accured massive amounts of wealth from murder and plundering in ~20 years, especially considering that pirates aren't exactly known for having long lives. Still! Interesting take and older Bill absolutely would make a hypothetical gaggle of siblings fit

Okay, so after the war, when Prythian has been restored to peace and EVERYONE lives ( I'm trying not to think of any other alternative ) - I'd like to think that Lucien attempts to court Elain and was wondering about your thoughts concerning what they would do first date wise ? Also would you prefer it if lucien became high lord of spring ( as is the most popular theory going around ) or high lord of autumn, assuming Beron dies and Lucien is the next heir ( as a lot of people think also ) Tysm
alright so conveniently i’ve written basically this exact fic (short answer, a ride and picnic, long answer, the context and timing of their first Real Meeting is way more crucial than their choice of first date and also likely to be somewhat out of their control. I HAVE SO MUCH ELUCIEN ACOWAR ANXIETY, YOU GUYS.)
But, ok, let me talk about The Fate of Lucien. I think in canon, based on my conjecture about how SJM tends to operate, he’s going to end up the high lord of the fall court. Which I’m not against at all, but it is not my preferred outcome. My preferred and wildly unlikely outcome is that Beron kicks it, Lucien’s mom declares herself autonomously-ruling high lady of the fall court, and Elain is the autonomously-ruling high lady of spring with Lucien as her consort.
I adore high lord!Lucien, but like, babe deserves to take a break and do nothing but nap and have sex with Elain for a couple hundred years. The series kind of treats high lord/lady-ship as a Fun And Fancy Title (sorry, but does Rhys do any actual governing? Does Tamlin?) but it’s, realistically, a very demanding political position. This is all my HC, but I don’t think Lucien wants to be high lord of anything. It’s fucking hard. He’s basically been running the spring court anyway since Tamlin #lost it and he’s been having a terrible time. “Being crushed under the weight of ur trauma and having no real friends” does not put you into a “yeah i think i could rule a country” mindset.
(Of course, that probably won’t matter, in canon; it’ll be an arc of dealing with a position he didn’t ask for in a court he hasn’t lived in for hundreds of years. Which is interesting, story-wise, but I want my babies to be MAXIMUMLY HAPPY so it’s not what I want.)
But beyond what I want for Lucien, I LOOOOOVE the idea of Tatiana (that’s lucien’s mom’s name, in my mind) being emboldened by Feyre’s appointment as High Lady and raising hell to get the power/respect she fucking deserves after having to put up with Beron for xhundred years. And it also JUST MAKES SENSE; who would know the court/ how to rule it better than her? And she can remarry some hot young fae stud and have some heirs who aren’t evil or Lucien. It’s a good deal, and, in my mind, somewhat redemptive of how fucking nasty this series is in laying on the misogyny-for-drama. @ SJM LET WOMEN BE BADASSES WITHOUT NEEDING MEN TO ENABLE IT.
Also in that vein the thought of Elain just falling head over heels in love with the spring court and coming into her own there because that’s how much she adores it and its people makes me want to cry. My baby would be SO GOOD at politics, and could have such a great arc abt learning to be more badass and assertive without ever losing that sweetness and compassion. And think of Lucien teaching her all about the court and being sort of in awe of how passionate she is about it and how earnestly she tackles these things he’s come to be really bitter about??? And everyone in the spring court being skeptical of her because of her age and how she used to be a human, until they meet here and EVERYONE FALLS IN LOVE INSTANTLY bc it’s Elain, you can’t not. And Elain working really really hard to maintain the tradition and the weirdness and the wildness of the court while modernizing it? And Elain always being barefoot with flowers growing in her hair??? And Elain falling asleep on top of books and paperwork and Lucien has to scoop her up and put her to bed????? #elainforhighlady
