Broken Brothers (and How to Fix Them)

Part 3 💜 | Part 1 <- 🧡 | Part 2 <- 💙

Note: This story is based on @cupcakeslushie 's Empyrean Weeping au. These characters are not my own, and this story is in no way canon to the main story. I wrote this as my love letter to the story and the characters. Especially April :)

Summary: April was able to figure out her first brother easily. Now, she gets three more, with a couple more issues to worry about.

One brother was already a lot. He was sweet, if a little violent. April was content with one brother.

Then she found out he had two more. Lost in their youth, taken away, never to be seen again. Suddenly, one wasn't enough. April wanted three brothers.

So she got them. One by one, she welcomed her new brothers into their home. She helped them feel safe and welcomed. And, in turn, they helped her learn her place as a big sister.

Now, four? Four whole brothers? That was pushing it.

Donnie was a wild card. Some days, he'd bounce around madly, blabbering about whatever “improvements” he'd made in the lair (always putting Splinter on edge, yet he could never find any problems with whatever Donnie did, probably because his brothers did damage control before he could catch it). Other days, he'd literally hiss at April until she left. Not just left the lair; left the sewers.

This day was supposed to be one of those days. Donnie was visibly shaking with all the pent up energy in him. The brothers had apparently had an “intervention” with Donnie after the previous night, when he had almost broken a major support beam in the lair just so he could collapse it on April. Now, he wasn't allowed to show violence to April in any form for a whole week. In exchange, he'd be allowed to take a single blood sample from each of his brothers, which was the weirdest trade April had ever heard. But Donnie really wanted it.

And boy, was it hard for him.

“Did you see that?! Did you see? I totally landed that one!” Mikey yelped, shaking on his skateboard.

“Good job, big man.” Raph stepped up beside him, lightly touching Mikey's shoulder and making his eyes widen as he tried to maintain his balance.

Mikey had been wanting to practice his skate tricks, and Raph wanted to make sure he did it in a safe environment. The skate ramp in the lair was perfect. Even if they were just practicing kickflips at the bottom, it was safe and contributed to good vibes.

While Raph and Mikey stood at the bottom, April, Leo, and Donnie sat at the top with their legs dangling beneath them. Well, April and Leo's legs were dangling. Donnie was perched up like a frog, knees thrown out to the sides and his hands curled on the edge of the ramp. Leo, of course, was between him and his self proclaimed mortal enemy, absorbing as much murderous intent as he could. It was a lot, to put it nicely.

“Do you think he'll ever actually get to use the ramp?” Leo asked, enjoying the spectacle of his youngest brother getting properly babied by his oldest.

“Four is definitely tough enough to survive a fall from this height,” Donnie responded cheerily. “His shell is the best of all of us. A human, on the other hand, would likely get severely injured if they were to be shoved off the edge.” His face grew the slightest grin at the imaginary violence.

“Watch the language.” Leo raised a brow to Donnie. “And it's Mikey, remember? Not Four.”

“R-right!” Donnie stammered, patting his hands on the side of the ramp. “Four is Mikey.”

“No, Mikey is Mikey. His name isn't Four, and it never was. Just like my name isn't Two, Raph's name isn't One, and your name isn't Three. You're our brother. Donatello.”

Leo was getting slightly agitated, and Donnie- or maybe Three- was starting to fidget and rock back and forth. It was clear that Leo wanted Donnie to just give up all this number talk and act like their childhoods hadn't happened. But that was just an impossible task. April could tell that this situation would be quick to spiral.

“Hey, uh, Leo?” April asked, getting his attention.

“Yes?”

“Betcha can't do an ollie.”

Leo turned fully to face April. “A what?”

“I-it's a skateboard trick…” Donnie said, causing Leo's attention to whip around again. “F- Mikey showed me a couple days ago.”

“Oh.” Leo's brow ridges tightened as he whipped back to face April. “You think I can't pull some stupid skate trick? You are so on.” Leo slid down the ramp, using his carapace like a sled. “Mikey! Give me your board!”

Donnie watched him slide down with wide eyes. “Has he… ever skated before?” He asked, mildly concerned.

“Nope. Never even touched a board.” April smirked. “He's gonna be stuck down there for at least an hour.” She looked over at Donnie, who was gazing down at his brothers with a lost glaze over his eyes.

“You wanna go join them, Donnie?”

The softshell's neck popped as he snapped to glare at April. The murderous intent that had been building suddenly channeled into his face, and he growled before standing up and stomping away swiftly toward his recently decorated room.

April glanced down at the three brothers having fun, then pushed herself up to follow the one who wasn't.

“Wait, Donnie! What's wrong? I-”

“Stop.” The turtle hissed, not turning around to face her.

“Stop? Donnie, what did I-”

“I SAID STOP IT! STOP CALLING ME THAT!” He pressed the heels of his hands into the sides of his head.

“What do you mean? Just tell me what's-”

The turtle turned on his heel in the doorframe. “JUST LEAVE ME ALONE! I don't know how to put it in a way your STUPID HUMAN BRAIN WILL UNDERSTAND!” His face morphed into a manic grin. “Goodbye! So long! Sayonara! Toodaloo! GET OUT OF MY FACE!”

The door slammed shut, and April was left breathless.

April came back the next day to a much quieter lair. The boys were keeping space from each other, whether consciously or not. Raph was wandering around, trying to act like everything was okay. Leo was training in the dojo. Mikey was spending more time around Splinter than he usually did.

The final brother was still locked in his room.

April decided to join Mikey to bring him his second meal of the day. The first one, a small plate of rice, was still outside the door, now cold and dry.

Mikey knocked lightly, barely tapping the door with his knuckles. “Donnie?” He whispered. “I've got more food for you. It's your favorite- flavorless mush! I tested it myself, no taste at all. I promise!”

The offer was met with silence.

Mikey sighed and let his shoulders slump, backing away from the door. “I just don't get it,” he muttered pathetically. “He hasn't even come out to pee, April. Do you think he's just peeing in a cup? Or a corner? Does Donnie have a pee corner that we don't know about?”

“Mikey, it's okay.” April grabbed his shoulder. “First of all, yes, he probably does, and that just means we get to bond over cleaning his room when this is over. Second, you shouldn't have to worry about this.”

“I'm so sorry, April.” Mikey looked down to his feet. “I don't know why he hates you so much. Maybe if we hadn't-”

“Don't apologize,” April interrupted. “If anyone needs to apologize, it's me.”

Mikey looked back up at his big sister with wide eyes. “Why?”

She sighed. “Because I did something wrong.” April took the food from Mikey's hands. “I'll get him to eat. I'll text you if things go super wrong, but otherwise, ignore any loud noises. I have a feeling this might get… violent.”

Mikey puffed his chest. “Roger, roger!” He saluted and rushed down the hall, supposedly to find Raph and warn him of April's plan before he could start panicking.

April stood next to the door. “Hey, bud,” she started. “It's April. I've got your food, and I'm not gonna leave until you let me in to give it to you.”

After about two minutes of just standing there and getting no response, April sat down. She would say something every few minutes, just to remind him she was still there.

48 minutes later, the lock clicked.

April opened the door slowly. Glancing around the room, she could see the state of disarray it was in. Clothes carpeted the floor, as well as abandoned scrap projects. The turtle was cloaked beneath blankets on his bed, only his bright eyes glaring out at the invader.

She left the door open and stood to the side, getting just close enough. She didn't want him to feel threatened or trapped. She placed the (well cold by now) food next to the growling blanket pile and backed away. Waiting a second, just until he proved he would actually start eating, she spoke.

“Why don't you want me to call you Donnie?”

The pile shifted. “You just… you just can't.”

“Why not?”

“...because Splinter gave me that name. It's my name as his son. As Raph, Leo, and Mikey's brother. Not yours.”

April was about to pose a question, but the softshell suddenly sat up and started showing his anger. In the action, he also revealed the red marks growing on his arms from squeezing them.

“Because I don't care how much time you spend around us. I don't care how much One likes you, or how much Four draws you, or how much stupid stuff you watch with Two! You aren't related to me. It's scientifically impossible. We don't share any genetic material. You aren't my brother!”

With frazzled eyes, he turned and grabbed April's collar, bringing the two face to face.

“And you are most definitely not my sister.”

He shoved April away and sulked back in his den. The girl decided to take the violent outburst as an invitation to get closer, and sat on the edge of the bed.

“...that's okay.”

She only got a sniff in response.

“I don't need to be your sister. Or your brother. All I want is to be your friend. And if that means I call you something else, that's okay. Just tell me what you want me to call you, and I'll do it. Maybe I can call you Purple like Splints has been. Or I'll call you Three, if you really want me to.”

The turtle, Donnie to some, showed his face, keeping the blankets wrapped around his shoulders. His fingers were digging into his upper arms.

“And I know you might not like me, but I'm not going anywhere. Your brothers like me, and they'll be upset if I go away.” When she saw the softshell's grip tighten, she quickly added, “And I know that if they had to choose, they'd pick you. But they don't have to. They don't want to.”

The turtle stared aimlessly in front of him. “...I don't… I…”

“I can just not call you anything if you can't decide. Y'know, just call you ‘dude’ and stuff.”

His shoulders lifted higher, touching the sides of his chin. “That… that works…”

April smiled wide. “Great.”

The two sat there, just accepting each other's company. Donnie's tight posture slowly loosened, and April focused on making sure his breathing was even.

This poor boy had never known true family. He had never known learning to trust people and taking them in. He had never been taken in. This concept, choosing family, was so foreign. Because to him, family wasn't something you could choose.

April would never allow that. Never again.

“...sooo, do you have a pee corner?”

“What?!”

April held her hands up defensively. “Mikey said you haven't come out to pee! I just wanted to know if you had a pee corner!”

“No?! Why would you automatically assume I have a pee corner?”

“Because you haven't come out of your room to pee! What, do you have a pee cup instead?!”

“No!”

“Then what have you been doing?!”

Donnie pointed to a spot in the room, and April looked over to see a very D.I.Y. toilet, made of scrap metal welded together. (She could recall that Donnie's welding materials had been taken from him weeks ago.) “I hooked it up to go straight into the tunnels,” Donnie boasted proudly. “I even dug the holes myself! Digged? Dug.”

“...yeeeah, we're getting rid of that,” April grimaced.

“WHAT?! WHY?!”

“YOU KNOW VERY WELL WHY.”

[In time, Donnie would let April call him by his name. And, in time, he would learn that his name was his, and his alone.]

And that's it! Totally! April has started on her long journey to fixing all of her broken brothers! She has NO OTHER BROTHERS THAT HAVE ISSUES, why would you ever think that 🟥🐢

This part gave me quite a few problems. Knowing that the "Maps" comic is probably going to explore April and Donnie's relationship, I was a little scared about making assumptions. Also, you don't realize how difficult it is to write someone who isn't all there until you're actually trying to do it. Eventually I just said "screw it, if he's out of character, its fine". So now we're here :)

ALso, no one tells you how motivating and powerful the high you get when someone you look up to praises your work is, I thought this would take me WAY LONGER to finish 🤡

aanyway, congrats to all the tmnt au comp winners, again. Can't wait to see who moves on from here :D

A RANT:

THE NEON LEON

(I) A rise to leadership

Pun intended bc Leo would love it

Has this been done yet? Of course, but i love ranting about my favorite characters and boy, rise tmnt has so much to rant about (well, the whole tmnt franchise has enough material to speak for HOURS buttt rise lives forever in my heart so yeah i'm biased). Might talk about mutant mayhem in the future idk.

Leonardo Hamato/Splinterson has always been the leader, the one that carries the weight of carrying the team and following splinter's steps as the next "head" of the family (as said by splinter in the 2012 tmnt). And yeah in much of the versions of the turtles, this is a very important aspect of his personality, it's his literal purpose; it's the catalyst for a lot of the narratives and storylines seen across the tmnt universe: His fights with Raph, his anxiety, his inferiority complex, his constant wish to be better, how he sometimes neglects (or simply goes against?)his brother's feelings in order to keep them and the team itself safe.

Being the leader is both the weight and medal that comes with being Leonardo, that sisyphean task that we will always see try to accomplish over and over again.

So if we want to explore why he is a great leader... shouldn't we take that weight off his shoulders?

And that my people, it's what rise does perfectly. The best way to prove that Leo is a great leader? To show us how he can handle the team from the shadows, let us see how well he knows his team's strengths and shortcomings.

But don't just make him want to be the leader, no no, show us why we should all trust him to.

First of all: Leo panicking at the face of danger, might be useful sometimes.

Honest to god: i think the rise writers and animators are amazing. They're so GOOD at showing us important pieces of the characters even without directly saying it.

First of all, he doesn't have a fight or flight response because he straight up waves his ōdachi directly at anything that attacks him and his brothers (bro has kill om sight sense, he literally sliced warren one time, remember?). He will always have the advantage, even when surprised. Also the way he lightens up the situation with his witty banter and one liners when stress is too much? Extra points for keeping team morale up👍

Or in a different case, leo's panic when the mad dogs get in trouble upon a stronger rival. Why is it great? Because even though he's losing his absolute shit, he's able to act and take the next conscious step; even when it's used for laughs: He calls for his father when his family is in danger. It may sometimes be a funny gag ; like in "Flushed but never forgotten" or soul fucking wrenching like when they're attacked by shredder and RAPH IS PROTECTING DONNIE AND LEO SCREAMS AND I- *ehem*. But he knows splinter it's capable of defending them, he trained them after all (this may be arguable when talking about season 1 splint but well, he still recognizes his father as a ninja and his master).

And thus, the next marvel of Leo:

B) He's completely aware of the team's abilities

He's a middle child, he has seen everything, and the most perfect example of it: Many unhappy returns.

BOY IF THAT'S NOT THE MOST AMAZING DEMONSTRATION OF LEO'S LEADERSHIP AND STRATEGY IDK WHAT ELSE YOU'RE LOOKING FOR

He trusts his siblings completely, sure he looks out for them and supports them when needed (while being sarcastic about it), but he knows they're amazing at the hero thing.

I wouldn't doubt it if Splinter; being with Leo most of the episode saw just how in control he was of the situation and went: "dude...why are you not the one leading the team? You're...actually so smart wtf????"

C)He knows how to dial down his brother's enthusiasm and calls out his father's faults (and sometimes hypocrisy)

Remember the paper thieves episode?

That's peak leader Leo

The whole team was full on trying to get killed for the lols, and what does he do? Pulls them to the side and explains why they should start with something more simple and gives a speech on why focusing on the "easier task" it's still a good hero job (look out for the small/weaker ones, right?)

Not only that, but he's the one that constantly calls out his dad's mess ups, remaining by his brother's side and defending them (THIS IS NOT A SPLINTER SLANDER, I'M SAD DAD SUPPORTER AND I WILL TALK ABOUT IT LATER) seen as one of the YouTube shorts or when splints nags then about keeping secrets from him: he stands for his team, "you are not supposed to do that/you do the same thing you yell at us for"

He both inspires and defends his team, and hey; a leader is not the one that orders, but the one that motivates and supports you.

D) He's their personal hype man

Cue back to point B, he is amazed by his siblings abilities, even if he dies hide it sometimes. Remember when mikey wanted to go on a solo mission? He's fully on board and never doubts mikey is in control of the situation (sure he does go to "save him" with the others later on but come on, you all heard the call and saw Raph panicking. He trusts him but he's still his little brother y'know?)

He knows Donnie is an absolutely genious and is completely aware of Raph's dedication to the hero gig and responsability.

April and Splints? He knows they're completely capable of holding their own and willingly helps them when the situation calls for it.

And this is it please be free to add anything you might like and tell me if i'm making sense??? Idk i just love him a lot😞

HECK EVEN CASEY, A LITERAL BOY HE JUST MET. He is aware of casey's passion and abilities; i mean, if his own future self trusts him as the only one capable to fix everything, why shouldn't he?

Conclusion: Leo quite literally grew to deserve the role of the leader.

I like think Raph even though everyone knows he’s a good fighter he still compares himself to his brothers. He just feels he isn’t as good as them. Mainly because no one told him he was. There’s so much angst there. He feels like the weak link even if it’s not true.

Oh yeah I think you’re right. Based on his reaction to Leo calling him “ninja dropout” (I think it was the first ep? They were training and it was revenge for calling Leo “teachers pet”) and the entire Battle Nexus situation, or the Pipe Incident for that matter… yeah overall I’d say he’s insecure about it, and the others definitely don’t realize it.

I think that’s also part of why him and Donny get along so well. They all tease each other sometimes, but we never see Don give Raph a hard time about his ninjitsu specifically. And think about how differently Raph reacts. Like if Mikey insults him he hits back. When Leo goes after him the way his face changes is heartbreaking tbh. But when Donny makes fun of him (rare but it does happen, ie “Raph everything ticks you off”) Raph is like lol yeah I’m like that :3

Idk I think they are all very verbally gentle with Donatello, probably because he is with them, but the difference is especially evident with Raph

Also also! I don’t think I ever said? But I am working on a Raph-centric Weak Link follow up 👀 :3

What's your favorite version of the turtle boys? (I'm sorry, bestie. I don't really know a lot about that show and there seem to be so many different versions. I'm not sure how to refer to them collectively. So . . . the turtle boys, it is)

my all-time favorite version of the boys will ALWAYS be the 2012 nickelodeon cartoon version:

i think the reason i love this version so much is just... their characters are SO well done??????

like Leo is so nerdy, but also so desperate to live up to his father's expectations and protect his brothers, Raph is the hothead who would quite honestly let himself die if it meant his brothers would live, Donnie can be the smartest in the room but he's also so goofy and sweet, and Mikey is a goofball who just thinks about things a little differently (seriously, there's a whole episode where Donnie learns that Mikey's way of fighting is better because he doesn't have to think, he just has to do)

(look at these dorks. they're a family, and they're REALISTIC SIBLINGS)

also, this is the version I grew up with. My older brother and I watched this as soon as it first came out in 2012, so this version has a special place in my heart.

also 2012 Raph is just like me fr, he's one of those media characters that i connect with so closely, and if my many, many posts defending him from new members of the fandom who call him "abusive" aren't obvious, i love 2012 raph with my entire heart and soul.

other than the 2012 version, i'm also in the minority group of people who enjoy the Michael Bay Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movies!

i love them your honor

they're similar to the 2012 version, which i think is why i love the movies so much? but idk, their characters are perfect, their interactions are amazing, i did a whole liveblog where i just gushed about Bayverse Raph because his character is SO amazing in the movies

Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is also good!

the animation is so fun, and i don't think i've ever laughed harder than i did during the RotTMNT movie on Netflix!! I absolutely recommend if you prefer quick, short episodes (i think the show has about two "stories" per episode?)

and even though it hasn't even been released yet, and there's only been one trailer, i am so so stupidly excited for Mutant Mayhem

there is not a thought behind mikey's eyes and i would die for him and his brothers in a heartbeat

SIDE 2B: ROUND 1: Leonardo Hamato (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles)/Yuichi Usagi (Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles) VS Megaman (Megaman)/Pit (Kid Icarus)

Propaganda for Leonardo Hamato/Yuichi Usagi:

The ship mostly started because in older reiterations of TMNT there were crossovers with Miyamoto Usagi (ancestor of Yuichi Usagi), in these Miyamoto had a closer relationship with Leonardo than the other turtles so people began to ship them but since Rise of the TMNT never had a crossover episode the fandom started a ship between Leonardo and Yuichi Usagi since they were closer in age Either way it's one of my favorite ships in the fandom 😺

Despite being from unique works largely uninvolved, they've been a crossover ship for ages now and Usagi often finds himself getting the odd episode in TMNT titles to this day. Leo and Usagi in the 2003 series actually do interact in three episodes and are quite soft, before Usagi finally goes home. They are fellow warriors, one ninja and one samurai, who have faced hardship and show great respect to each other. Rise!Leo and modern Usagi are more popular now and haven't met at all, yet the fandom defaults to having Usagi as Leo's partner anyway. This Leo is much more brash and flamboyant, and Yuichi is quite naive in his own ways and prone to fucking up. They're disasters. It's pretty fun. Leosagi(2003) and Leosagi(Rise) are very different flavours so you will have to pick which one! Either is good tho.

Oh my god. This one came immediately to mind. Idk how big the ship is now, but I remember like seeing it everywhere back when Super Smash Bros Ultimate was like popular on Tumblr/Twitter. I think it was originally a crackship cause both of them were in Captain N (a cartoon), but it’s like a serious thing now. Literally all it took was one interaction between them (there’s like dialogue you can get if you do some combination when you play as Pit) which is just Pit gushing about Mega Man. It’s cute. And honestly kind of iconic

(mutant mayhem spoilers)

OHMIGOSH so i saw mutant mayhem two days ago, on its official opening here in the US

it was really really good and i loved it so much and ugh i could rant about it for ages. so here's a nearly 2000 word rant about it. sorry for any spelling and grammar errors

(more under the cut)

so first of all, lemme talk about the characters real quick. my favorite character continues to be donnie but all of them were really likeable in this one, and the dynamic the turtles had is amazing.

mm!leo was a very very good version of leo, staying relatively close to older versions of leo but having some of the more fun traits that leo has had recently in tmnt media (for example, he was willing to do some things with his brothers, even if they went against splinter. even if he felt bad about it.) he was funny and cool, really bringing it all together. nicolas cantu (that how you spell his name? idk) did a great job as his voice as well, he pretty much perfectly illustrated all the emotions he needed to for leo throughout the whole movie. the only thing i didn't like about leo was the fact that he had a crush on april, but that's mostly a me thing because i've never been a fan of the turtle x april ships, they're just uncomfortable for me. they played it off pretty well though.

mm!mikey was really enjoyable for a character who is generally a little bit hit-or-miss for his moments. it was really a hit for all of the times he was on screen or talked which i'm very glad about. i a little wish that the movie focused even more on mikey, but maybe the series/sequel will. he was funny and not nearly as gross as some previous iterations were (ahem 2012) and it was just a really fun time with him. he was pretty much the best parts of all of my favorite versions of mikey all put in one. shamon brown jr also did an amazing job with him!!!!! he's a really good voice actor and he was pretty much perfect for mikey. and yeah, one thing i think they could've done better is just giving him more screen time and focus i think?

mm!raph was really great. you could tell that he was definitely raph but he wasn't super aggressive or hard to talk to. he was funny and there were plenty of moments that made me laugh with him. even though the movie didn't go terribly far into all the characters, you could tell that he definitely has a soft spot for his brothers and for splinter as well. seeing him as a turtle tot was amazing as well by the way, he looked like a cinderblock. and yeah, you bet i gotta bring up brady noon, who was amazing for raph. (really, casting all teenagers for the teenage mutant ninja turtles was a great casting choice on all levels.) even though he was this kinda aggressive guy, you can tell that he has dreams and he has people he cares about. it was really great to see for raph.

and of course i gotta talk about my favorite little guy. mm!donnie was SOO GOOd and like my favorite from the whole movie, he was really fussing great. his design is so good just because they really incorporated the tech stuff into his design, and the stickers on his bō were a nice touch. one thing i wish they would've shown more of is stuff that donnie made himself, y'know? donnie's original tech is usually kinda pushed to the front in tmnt which is great, i love seeing donnie tech. but the main thing donnie did in this movie is fight with his regular bō and use his phone and drive a car or something? i hope we get to see his tech in the future. also, micah abbey did such an amazing job at him@!!1 i mean i really enjoyed how he had a higher voice which is NORMAL for teenage boys, like people's voices change at different rates. he sounded great!! i am sad we didn't get to see more scooter action with him though

april i sure have thoughts about. i mean the thoughts are all positive. she was such a good april and an amazing addition to the cast. first of all, i am strong supporter in her design. sure am a big fan of the non-white aprils. a lot of fans didn't like her design for whatever reason?? some of them didn't like that she's not white and others had issues with her body shape, which is stupid. she's a teenage human, there's no reason to give her the "perfect" adult woman's body (in their eyes anyway) when she's meant to just kinda be this a little average but nonetheless badass ally to the turtles. her personality was great, she felt like a real teenager. her arc of getting (mostly) over her camera sensitivity was really nice, and i appreciate that she wasn't totally over it by the end. ayo edebiri was a really great cast for her as well. (also, i'm glad that even though she agreed to go to prom with leo, it seems like she still sees him purely platonically. i will NOT stand for another 2012 donnie and april situation.)

anyway, splinter, amiright? it's interesting how they went with the route that he was originally a rat. he was a really good character and one of my favorite versions of splinter now. he really was just trying to be a good father to these turtles in this weird little family situation, and i can't blame him for being so overprotective of them when he was made to be a monster in times square by mrbeast. jackie chan was a great choice to play him. (i don't support what jackie chan did to his daughter though btw.) the fact that he learned martial arts through old tapes, new movies and fussing youtube (a video of a channel i watch was in it by the way????) is amazing.

okay now all the other characters were really cool too. all the mutants that baxter stockman created were really interesting and it's great how they brought back so many existing characters while adding new ones. bebop and rocksteady were actually funny which i don't really expect from bebop and rocksteady most of the time to be honest. superfly was actually really scary for being this kids movie villain, which i guess isn't very surprising for tmnt. he got away with kinda a surprising amount of swearing for it though, a whole lot of instances of "damn" and stuff. mondo gecko was very fun and i was actually a bit scared when mikey found his tail. cynthia utrom didn't play as big a part in this movie as i expected her to but she will definitely be a bigger part in the future, especially considering that she's obviously meant to be an utrom. (and oh my god that end scene??? but i'll get into that later) i sure was a big fan of superfly's family turning on him for the benefit of humanity (and the chance of living with the turtles and splinter.) the voice cast was great for all the side characters. i think it's really cool that the main cast (as in the turtles and april) were all voiced by younger, less well-known actors while the side cast and villains were all played by the much better-known actors.

anyway onto the art, IT WAS AMAZING AAAAHHH as an artist this was on fussing spider-verse levels of art and animation. it looked like teenagers helped design it, which is what they were going for. the movement looked great and SOO natural, aahh!! the fight choreo was amazing too, there was that one scene where they were trying to find info about superfly was so well put together. there really were a few stand-out moments but all of it was so good. i love it when the ninja turtles actually use their weapons as they should be, which has happened in the past but it was so clear that they did their research here. also i'm glad that jeff rowe and seth rogen said that they ensured that the animators weren't being mistreated or overworked.

anywho, the music amiright? the soundtrack being based on NYC-based rap and hip hop was a really great choice. that one song that goes "can i kick it, yes you can" was a great choice for the main title-y thing of that movie. it hit all the places it needed to.

some other notes i wanna bring up:

the stakes were real my guys. at multiple points, i felt such genuine fear for these fictional mutant turtles in my heart i thought i would have a stroke or something. for example, when cynthia just kept shocking them??? are they not aware of the damage that like father like son did to ninja turtles fans???? also when superfly just had them in his hands and you could HEAR their shells crunching a little bit. UGH that hurt me fr. it felt so so real and it was so so good.

the fact that the cardboard cutouts that splinter acquired were chris hemsworth, chris pine and chris pratt lmao

are any of the characters autistic? i was thinking about this and to be honest i think yes, some of them probably are autistic. but it's not as clear as it is in rise, especially with donnie, y'know?

about the pop culture references and memes that they used didn't actually feel dated or cringe to me. i've heard others complaining about that but it didn't bother me much, it felt how teenagers actually talk. (i'm a teenager btw, i'm pretty used to how we talk.)

making leo have a crush on a girl after rise!leo lmao

but speaking of leo having a crush on april, there is more i wanna say. so i do not ship them, i've never shipped any of the turtles with april. it just don't sit right with me. but i think they still have the opportunity to play it off with elegance and grace, by having april straight up refuse him when he's honest with her about how he feels. hoping that will happen at some point. i've been asked to dances and stuff by friends, i hope that's why april said yes to him asking her to prom at the end. i will find seth rogen if they put leo and april together in the end. (for legal reasons this is a joke.) but yeah.

and the end scene???? oh god what do you guys gonna think shredder's gonna be like in mm???? because as much as i like the pretty goofy side of shredder that we've seen in the past (like '87 shredder was so silly compared to 2012 or god forbid rise shredder), i would love to see a really just horrifying version of shredder that they would actually maybe kill off in the end? and then there's another sequel where leo has to grapple with his own conflicted feelings about killing shredder or something. that would be so real lmao

i'm really looking forward to the future of mutant mayhem, even though i still want more rise!! and also we must keep showing support for the wga/sag-aftra strike, even though it's gonna delay production on the next parts of the series.

it was a great movie though and a great use of one hour and thirty nine minutes.

Valkyrie: Mika's cool, I don't really like Shu so far :( the uniforms are soo cool though

Eden: Hiyori looks cool I guess 👍 I don't know the others' names sksjdjsj Nagisa, Jun(?) and maybe something beginning with I? Ibara? I keep thinking Isara, but I know he's the guy from Trickstar, anyway, I don't know a lot about Eden, I like their uniforms

2wink: my silly little guys, I love em <3 they are so joyous and fun, and also I randomly got a 5 star Hinata card the other day so I might be biased shskdjsj (also why are they called 2wink????? 😭😭😭)

Akatsuki: Keito and Kiryu are cool, Souma is so blorbo <3 I like their uniforms but it unnerves me how there's no sleeves

ROTTMNT SPOILERS AHEAD

Ok so something I noticed

Future Mikey doesn't have his mask.

And he's not referred to as a ninja anymore (and neither is Donnie when Casey talks about their future selves) which leads me to think that perhaps he and Donnie left behind the way of the ninja to better pursue what they're good at. For mikey it'd be his mystic abilities and becoming the greatest mystic warrior, and for Donnie it'd be focusing on his inventive skills and his tech (basically becoming Iron Man) and inventing better weapons to fight the kraang.

Because the time that the kraang take over the world is the same in both timelines, which means that for the rest of their teenage and adult lives, these boys have had to fight the kraang tooth and nail to survive. So being a ninja would have to be shelved in order for them to focus on doing everything they can and really tapping into their natural talents to help not just themselves but humanity as a whole. Donnie's tech is beyond anything anyone else can create, he can build weapons of mass destruction (hell, nukes even) which could boost the resistance tenfold if he doubled down on it (and I'm convinced he did). Mikey on the other hand is exactly what leo said. A badass mystic warrior. Dude can open time gateways, throw entire buildings, fire lazers, teleport, etc. He focused on training his mystic abilities so he could better be that wizard type on the team not only for fighting purposes but also healing (when Casey asks him to heal leo), escapes, defense, etc.

Leo obviously stays with what he knows, being a ninja and taking on the role of the Hamato clan and being the resistance leader. He keeps everyone unified and supports them, allowing them to use their abilities like a well-oiled machine to better their chances of survival. Obviously it wasn't enough, but it allowed them to at least make it to 2044.

Idk about Raph because he's never mentioned in the future other than that we know he and Donnie died at some point (and Raph definitely died first because Donnie models Leo’s robo arm after their fallen brother). I'm thinking maybe he died shortly after the Kraang's first arrival to earth, sacrificing himself for his team and family so they could go on and live to fight another day, much like how he did in the movie (and we see parallels with the boys' death moments in the movie too, so I think that moment he got stabbed in the shell was a parallel to how he died saving his brothers).

Raph said that since he’s the oldest, it all falls on him, and if he falls it’s up to Leo to be the next leader. And I think that his sacrifice is what got through to Leo to become the leader his team needed him to be.

Character Analysis: 2012 Season 5: April

There LOTS of different options about 2012 April.

I don’t hate her. I just think she could have been better. Good idea, bad execution.

There 2 major difference this April and others.

1 she’s a teenager and has a weird romantic plot with Donnie and Casey

2 she’s half Kraang. AKA half alien half human.

Thoese 2 idea could have been so cool to explore. It could have been a weird coming of age with supernatural elements type of thing. While the story forces on the turtles, it does try to have April play a important plot. If this was written better, it could have done different idea for her. Have April find out from the beginning she’s a alien, see her panic and have mixed feelings about her parents and the Kraang. Have her find out about her powers pre-turtles and having to his it from her dad or not. Have her love space and be obsessed with it but not knowing why. Have her being into cryptic and see her being an outcast at school. LITERALLY anything else then what canon gave us!

Like, when April found out she was Kraang, what if she had a human design and when she found out her origins she has a “kraang” form with tentacles and pink skin and yellow eyes! Have her slip into kraang tongue.

I think the reason why people hate April is because she has so many ideas, but they didn’t work out. She’s half alien, she was physic ability, she’s a female ninja! Like all those things can work by themselves. Or have it be 2 things, not all three. Because trying to do all of them, it end up underdeveloped her powers and her kraang heritage. Like oh! April is literally a alien. And the alien race she’s from is trying to take over the world! Oh! She has powers. And while they have moments of her being a alien, and her trying to find her mom, it never really developed. Even though that was the literally plot of the first 2 seasons. Like the Kraanh wanted to use April for her mind powers. But then the Kraang were defeated without April being there.

Apparently on the fandom wiki April’s powers are:

Danger Sense

Immunity to Mutagen

Tracking Telepathy

Telepathy

Telekinesis

Extrasensory Perception

Enchanted strength

Longevity

She can also make sound waves/energy waves? I think that’s part of her telekinesis but idk.

With her being a femal ninja, while it make scene, she’s a teenager girl living in New York and aliens are after her, she needs self defense. The Kraang and powers reveal should have made April question if she wanted to keep being a ninja. If she has powers to keep her safe, why train? Is it because she likes Splinter and the boys? Have her developed her relationship with them! Like the only 2 turtle that she interacted more then once is Donnie and Leo.

Why is April only seen having out with 2 of the turtles? Both on the fandom wiki, and canon April thinks of the turtles as her brothers and Splinter as a father figure. Which giving the fact that she misses Donnie and keeping giving him odd signs…..Not good.

From the fandom wikis, April is described as smart, shy, and a tomboy. She’s determined, stubborn, judgemental and resourceful. From these descriptions, how can April be closer to the boys? She didn’t have any scenes with Mikey, and while from the description it seems like she could get along with Raph, the two don’t interact much. With Leo, she help him talk about Karai in a cute gossip way. The when she was having a physic link with the bird monster and could see, and Leo with his hurt knee, the two work together. Besides that, and April having a cute each phone contact for Leo, the two don’t interact.

With Donnie. It’s all over the place. I the first two season, she was creepy out by Donnie flirting/crush. But she didn’t directly talk to him about it. In season 2 she leaves the turtles and meets Casey Jones. These two had a immediate connection and it actually seem like they were dating. In season 3, that were April’s relationship with Donnie change. Donnie realized his actions are creepy, try to apologizing but then April kissed him. After that she gives him little kisses and hugs. It’s very mixed signals. Personality I think April did this because she doesn’t have any friends, and the thought of Donnie, her “best friend” not being around her, paying attention to her, it seem to make her upset. With Casey though, while Casey was a bit pushy with April, think all their outing were dates. He never really seem to do anything bad to her, but he maybe have cool her a weird nicknames (can’t remember). But in the later seasons, it seem like all romantic subplot with the three just….ends? Without any closer.

physical? This girl is good! She’s a average healthy teenager. Mentally this girl is a wreck. She’s been kidnapped, seen her dad mutated twice, her mom is dead, she found out that she’s a alien with powers. She been kidnapped and had her brain be use against her will/consent by said aliens. Watch the world gets suck into a black hole/watch her dad die. Had to fights bad guys, watch her mentor die TWICE, one directly in front of her. Got possession…..Yeah, it’s a lot. Not wonder in season 5, the crystal made her have a addiction and have her be unstable. She definitely has trauma.

With the crystal and her murdering Donnie. I have a bit of mixed feelings. On once hand, she’s physic why didn’t she realize that there a magical being trying to kill the world? Or did she corrupt the crystal and angel? On the other hand, what with everything that happen to her, it’s no wonder she got possessed. I think April, unaware or not, agree with the angel to whip out the bad stuff from the world. She hurting and been through a lot. As for killing Donnie, I think it was her emotions that did it. While she thinks Donnie as her friends, probably deep down inside her, she didn’t like that Donnie was so obsessed with her, she these feeling came up when she was possessed and yeah. But the thing is, she was more or less awake when she killed Donnie. She even said sorry before it happen. So who know what the writers were trying to do with that whole scene?

Do I like April? She’s ok. Don’t hate her, but I don’t think she’s the best April. Neutral. She’s has a really cool plot, but the fact she wasn’t use right, was in the background from most of the time that wasn’t Kraang related, has powers and is a ninja. It’s a lot. I wish the writers just did her better?

Thinking about the Don Suave scene and what it means in terms of LGBTQ+ representation because my brain does nothing if not torment me with random topics to ramble about on the regular.

Anyway, I just wanted to ramble about why I like the scene but to get it out of the way - the scene can very easily be interpreted in so many different ways, and all of them are valid. I personally see it as Leo having at least some attraction to a man. And the following is an explanation of my own interpretation and thoughts on it and what it means especially for Leo’s portrayal in the grand scheme of things.

Long-winded interpretation under the cut!

Now, to start with, it’s important to me that in the scene Leo looks at Don Suave in the very beginning and then for the entirety of the rest of the time the man is on screen, Leo’s eyes are closed. Yet, in the end, he is still visibly enamored with Don Suave, happily cuddling up to him as he’s being carried away.

You can very easily interpret this as Leo being spellbound and that’s honestly super valid and I believe he likely was at least somewhat in the beginning, but considering how fast he looked away and how he never looked again, I personally think it makes more sense to read it as Leo just finding the man attractive, at least somewhat. (For the record, I personally headcanon Rise Leo as bisexual with a heavy preference for men, but I want to be blunt when I say that any interpretation is valid. Literally any. Ace, pan, gay, bi, none of the above or a mixture of something new literally all of it is more than okay and fair. Hell you could even interpret this entire scene as more romantic attraction than physical and it would still work. Anything goes!! Don’t bother people, guys, really.)

The main reason I take this scene to be at the very least LGBTQ+ adjacent isn’t just because of how it’s portrayed, but because of who Leonardo is. Not in terms of Rise of the TMNT, but in terms of the entire Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles™️ franchise.

Leo’s a character who, while changing with each iteration, has still at his core been around for decades upon decades as “the blue one”. One fourth of the team. He’s the one most are going to look at as the Leader, and oftentimes he is the one closest to having the title of Main Character. Not to say the others aren’t just as important, but Leo’s presence in the A plots of basically all TMNT media is often something very main character-esque.

And that’s very, very important to note. Here we have a Main Character of a prolific and decades long-running franchise distributed by a children’s television network. You can play around with his and his brothers’ characters all you like, but there is always going to be challenges to dodge around, especially since this was still in 2018-2019.

For example, you can play around with their designs so long as they’re color coded turtles, but their sexualities? Now that’s tricky.

“But what about Hypno and Warren?” Not main characters and also they’re Rise originals. They have a lot more room to play around with than a character like Leo does. But even talking about main characters in the franchise, you could arguably have an easier time playing around with Donnie or Mikey’s sexualities than Leo or even Raph, as (unfortunately) the former two tend to get more B plots, so they’d likely have had a little more leeway (still not a lot though.)

So, where does this leave us?

It leaves us in a place where outright stating and/or showing undeniable proof of Leo’s attraction to men is very, very difficult. So, workarounds!

Workarounds like the entire Don Suave situation.

To be honest, as left up to interpretation and lowkey and deniable as it is, this whole scene means a lot to me because of who Leo is as a character. It’s just nice when we get so see even the bare bones of representation with characters that have been such a large part of pop culture for decades, y’know? Even if more would be so much nicer, this is better than I thought we’d ever get for these boys.

And, again, literally nothing I’ve said is the only way to interpret it, I’m more than happy when people interpret media on their own honestly, it’s just something I’ve been thinking of lately and I was wondering if others felt the same way.

Whatever you think when you interpret this scene or Rise Leo as a whole, I just thought this would be interesting to think about, even if it was ramble-y, haha.

HEY SHARK!! thoughts on the Rottmnt trailer? :0

Hoo boy... okay I'm gonna put my thoughts under the cut cause there's ALOT

I screamed bascially the whole time watching the trailer, so there's that to start off

But I'm really, so INCREDIBLY EXCITED!!! I want to see my boys so bad I want them to be badass and kick some alien ass

I'm liking the future stuff, sorta has me thinking a but about what that would entail. It doesn't seem to me the turtles are super-duper close in Casey's future, Mikey seems to be a kinda... mage? Magic dude? Mystic hermit man, idk, but Leo's really gone ham with the leader thing, which I think is very interesting. Because of the whole... arm thing, I'm like... 80% sure Raph is dead... so um.... I have THOUGHTS.

Raph has always been the most self-sacrificing of the turtles, mostly cause he's bigger and stranger than his bros and can afford to take a hit before the can, but he's not INVINCIBLE. (We have all seen the Shredder Fight, we adore you Raph for protecting Donnie but also DONT FUCKING DIE IN THE PROCESS PLEASE) If anything, I think that's what would have caused his demise, which might of caused the other ninjas to drift apart, especially if he died protecting one of them.

And Donnie wasn't shown in the trailer, I think he probably went full-tech cyborg surrounded himself with robots type beat. He would defo close himself off after Raph died, cause that's just him.

Or maybe Raph doesn't die. That's the good end.

Anyway, more on the movie, I'm excited to see Leo as Leader, as much as I love my boy Raph. I have my own thoughts on why I think Splinter made Raph step down as leader (that I'll hopefully make a fic of soon) But I really want to go into how everyone interacts with him now that Leo is leader, especially how Leo and Raph interact togther.

Also, I do hope some of the less... alien and more mutant villans show up. Like Hypno and Warren from the trailer, but I want them all!!! Ghost Bear, Repo, Meatsweats, EVERYONE. I want them to help defend earth, only cause they live on earth and don't want to be killed by aliens.

Also Draxum. I want him to interact with the turtles and help defeat aliens SO BAD... also Draxum and Splinter interactions for the soul.

I am pretty interested in Casey Jones, especially in regards to Cass. This whole "Leo is my master from the future" has some real interest to me, especially if he's one of Cass's decendants or smth.

Anyway, I just hope no one dies. Those are my main hopes.

TMNT au is inspired by both 2012 and Rise iterations of the turtles. It’s 96 line focused and I tried my best to match them with which turtle/role suits them best 🥺 I think for now it’s more of a SVT as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles hcs lol

• Woozi — Leonardo. I think out of the four he most fits this position bc he’s the foundation of svt anyways 😂 he has his moments but I think his calm personality fits 2012!Leo’s perfectly. Also the burden of leading the team and insecurities 👁️👁️ ALSO HE’S SUCH A DORK 😭 that 6 he anime live lives in my mind like how 12!Leo loves his star trek inspired show to bits

• Hoshi — Raphael. He leans more onto Rise!Raph bc I can’t see Hoshi being a total sarcastic person. Tbh I had him pinned for Rise!Leo but after giving it more thought I think his spirit fits Raph more especially during Don’t Lie 😭 he’s leader material but the type to lean more onto fun

• Wonu — Donnie. GAMER BY DAY KPOP IDOL BY NIGHT!

• Jun — Mikey. ☺️☺️☺️

In the turtle forever movie at one point 87 Mike called 03 Raph a hard case and 03 Mikey is like boy do I got stories to tell what did he mean by that

I think that his brothers are all "hard cases," as in hard to get close to, hardener warriors, etc. And I think Mikey is kinda exaggerating, showing off for guests. But it is true that the 03 turtles can come across a bit standoffish, unless you're April or Angel (it took Casey and Renet both a bit to get on their good sides, lol).

As for the stories--idk if he'd tell about Raph getting put in solitary confinement in the Triceraton prison, Donnie ripping off Honeycutt's head to save his life, the two of them confronting a terrorist group and dealing with the bomb, Leo fighting the Ultimate Ninja, or those foot soldiers all on his own, the entire Zog situation--or if he was just gonna share about a really funny joke he told that none of them laughed at. Could go either way with Mikey. Based on the context though (Donny used his bo as a lever and took out a bunch of foot soldiers with a large boulder, Raph yelled at him for not letting him punch them), I think it's more likely stories that are at once bragging about how cool his brothers are and venting about how they can be crazy reckless thrill seekers (remember how he was the only one who didn't want to go underground and find out about the crystals, or go back later?).

Anyway, I think it's funny to him that his brothers can come across so--gritty? is that the word?--because he knows how gentle and caring and warm they are. Also Mikey himself is the one who set that grenade to go off in the Triceraton's hand, and his brothers immediately knew the explosion was his work, so it's not like he's the oddball here. He's just maybe the most aware/concerned about how their family is perceived by these new turtles (he does seem to like them more than his brothers do).

tbh I think all of the characters were kind of out of character in Turtles Forever, though the 03 turtles are much closer to themselves than the 87 turtles. I also have only seen it once and it's been some months, so take my opinion with a grain of salt 😆

heyy! i saw what you wrote about aro/ace people and it means so much to me that you acknowledge us honeslty:) i wanted to make a request if you feel like writing it. i love romantic fics for valentines but i was wondering if you could write something where reg and leo spend the day together in valentines (bc i think of reg as aro-ace and i feel like frienship is just as important as romantic relationships and i think leo probably thinks that too). like leo tells the boys that he wants to spend the day with reg bc they're really good friends and of course finnlo has no problem with that. and leo can be with his boys later like a dinner or smt (and maybe they spent the entire day planning a surprise for leo bc he wasn't there)

Regulus lined up his shot and tossed it—the peanut sailed through the air, bounced off the edge of the woman’s handbag, and fell inside without her so much as blinking.

Leo sighed heavily. “Shit.”

“How many is that for me, now?” Ten.

Leo checked the notes app on his phone. “Ten, not that anyone’s counting. My turn.”

Regulus looked around the busy street and swung his legs; the café stools were tall enough that both his and Leo’s feet were off the ground. “See the lady with the hat? Throw three at the brim, and if she checks for rain, I’ll buy you chocolate.”

“Yes.” Leo grinned as he picked three peanuts out of their bowl and aimed. The first one caught the brim’s edge; the second hit her shoulder and both boys averted their eyes, acting casual when she glanced around. The final peanut landed properly on her hat and Regulus held his breath as she frowned, then looked up at the sky with her hand out.

“Nice,” he whispered, fist-bumping Leo.

“So that’s ten boxes of Sweethearts for you and…” He quickly counted the tallies on his phone. “Three boxes of chocolate for me. I still don’t know how you eat chalk and say it’s good.”

“It’s not chalk!” Regulus defended, throwing a peanut at him. Leo, being an infuriatingly talented goalie, caught it and popped it in his mouth. “It’s sugar, and it’s delicious.”

Leo shook his head as they stood up and headed for the door, leaving a tip under their empty mugs. “You confuse me on so many levels.”

The snow had stopped the day before, but it was still cold enough that their breath steamed and small snowdrifts lined the sidewalk; Leo kicked them every few steps, lighting up with delight at the quiet poof each time. A few frantic men with roses and chocolate tapped their feet in the checkout lines when they entered the store and Regulus rolled his eyes.

“Hey, there’s one for each of you,” Regulus pointed out as Leo carefully chose three heart-shaped boxes of chocolate off the endless shelves.

Leo snorted. “Yeah, they’re not getting any of this.”

“Tremzy’s going to fight you for some.”

“I’ll put it on the highest shelf and watch him jump.”

Regulus gave him an appraising look. “Alright, Knut, alright. That’s cold.”

“Do you think Dumo’s got extra space for when they kick me out for not sharing?” he asked, tossing ten boxes of Sweethearts into their basket.

“I’m not sharing a room with you, that’s for damn sure.”

Leo shrugged. “At least you won’t steal my chocolate.”

They headed to the self-checkout after grabbing a few more necessities—Leo picked up small teddy bears for his boys, each with a cheesy love pun stitched into the belly, while Regulus grabbed a box of kids’ cardboard valentines to sign and stuff into Sirius’ mailbox later that evening. If he had extra, he could decorate the front window as well.

“Thanks for hanging out with me today,” he said, sparing Leo a quick glance.

His eyebrows pitched in confusion. “Well, yeah, we’ve been planning this for ages.”

“Still. It’s Valentine’s Day and your boys are at home—”

“—probably doing something ridiculous to surprise me. Thank you for saving me from shenanigans.” Leo nudged his shoulder, and despite his joking tone, his face was earnest.

Regulus cracked a smile. “And the chocolate.”

“Especially the chocolate.” Leo threw one of the Sweetheart boxes at him and he nearly fumbled it. “You would be the worst goalie, Jesus Christ. Come on, I wanna get home before it starts snowing again.”

“Will you help me sign all these?” Regulus asked, holding the Ninja Turtle valentines up as they walked out of the store. “There are 60 of them and I’ll need some extra height to stick them to Sirius’ window.”

Leo’s grin was downright devilish. “Abso-fucking-lutely.”

Among Us: Mansion Edition

Aight because I’m feeling stupid--I’m talking absolutely Willy Wonka--in this Chili’s tonight, I think it’s time I inundated you all in random crack ass Among Us Headcanons for the mansion. In no particular order:

-Y’all see this post? This right here is Leo and MC. Don’t even @ me. He’s such a bastard and she glares at him the whole time while he just fucking dies laughing in their room. When Theo finds out? He howls with laughter too, later high fives Leo

-Dazai, Sebas, and Comte are the MOST sus players on earth. Like these mofos will handle accusations so calmly and dismantle them so quickly nobody fucking knows what they're actually doing??? The others always skip until there’s hard evidence, but because of that they will often survive by the time the tasks are done

-Every single time Arthur has even the slightest bit of suspicion directed at him for being the imposter, everyone just immediately votes him off. Half the time he isn’t the imposter, and every single time people can hear Theo cackling from wherever he is

-One of the easiest ways to narrow down Theo as the imposter is to see how long Vincent survives HAHAHA (Vincent takes 13 yrs to do tasks)

-Since Vincent struggles with tasks a lot, Theo will often do buddy system (MC will often tag along too--but Theo will just straight up kill her when he’s imposter and tell Vincent she’s busy with another task LMFAO Vincent always scolds him after)

-Isaac hates being imposter. With every. Fiber. Of. His being. HE HATES IT!!! He vents, they see him immediately, they boot him. FML. Also gives himself away because he will usually kill Dazai and Arthur first, and stutters like a maniac trying to defend himself--has no good alibi in a pinch LMAO

-Isaac groans every single time he gets a task in the electrical room. His palms start sweating because he just knows someone is going to sneak in and snap his neck while frantically trying to connect wires. Arthur most often kills him that way just because he finds it hilarious to hear Isaac curse

-Leo, Arthur, and Shakespeare are the ones most known to sabotage while they’re imposters. Leo just loves being a headache of a person, Arthur finds it most efficient to murder in the course of the chaos (after there’s a kind of false sense of security, he picks them off), while Shakes just love watching everyone scatter desperately like mice.

-Shakespeare is 100% that imposter that like stays beside Vincent the whole time while he’s doing tasks, playing buddy system, and then the second the game is about to end just straight up murders him in cold blood out of nowhere

-Comte will almost always enact petty revenge if someone kills MC early in the game--or at all. Catch this mofo finishing his tasks lightening speed and sitting at the security monitors, slamming the emergency button the second he’s deduced who the culprit is. He’s usually the fastest to figure it out; how quickly he responds is another matter lol

-Jeanne gets caught in milliseconds because he won’t even care about the mechanics of the game, and finds sneaking boring/stupid/too much effort (also just bad with technology, it takes him forever to learn the controls). Will at least attempt to kill in isolation, but otherwise doesn’t much care about being stealthy--and so is often caught fast (always kills Comte first much to the man’s dismay)

-Mozart is...surprisingly good at the game? Not quite as skilled as the trio mentioned earlier, but he’s very good at coming up with air-tight alibis and employs a slow, methodical approach. Will have 5 or 6 of them dead before anyone suspects it’s him, kills randomized targets, and will frequent the security room while people are trying to figure out who it is. Will do buddy system with Jeanne, and will usually find the imposter to avenge his good friendo--otherwise just does tasks and chills if he ain’t imposter

-Leo just plays to have fun! He’s good at it but doesn’t really go hard enough to evade suspicion for very long if he’s imposter, mostly kills people he thinks will be most frustrated with being killed/least suspecting. People are usually yelling at him to complete his tasks bc he often zones out when he becomes a ghost LMFAO

-Leo and Comte sometimes do the buddy system, but honestly? They just devolve into murdering each other so fucking fast it’s pointless AHHAHAHAHHAHAH they’re just constantly squinting at each other; they don’t trust the other as far he can throw him (Idk if y’all have seen any of Vanoss’ streams on yt but I just keep seeing that clip of him in MedBay getting scanned and going “nogla you gonna kill me? just fucking kill me you fucking french bastard” when nogla lingers a little next to him and I start wheezing because all I see is literally Leo and Comte)

-Napoleon rarely gets imposter, so he’s usually spearheading the crewmate effort. Gets his tasks done very quickly (if he doesn’t get murdered; though he often has Isaac for buddy system) and camps outside the security room after making a few rounds. Usually figures out who it is fairly quickly--though his accuracy is spotty

-If Napoleon is imposter he tends to have a hard time killing people, so he’ll literally just pretend to do tasks and vibe until the time runs out. It’s the inactivity and aimlessness that tends to give him away

-MC tries to be stealthy, but she usually times her kills poorly or gets walked in on. Sometimes she manages to conceal the body or her boo looks the other way to let her indulge in the fun, but otherwise she gets found as imposter fast

-There are a few legendary rounds where MC manages to fool most of the house into thinking she’s a crewmate because they’re so busy pointing fingers at each other she just skates by easy, but she always feels horrible after for betraying their trust (the men all silently agree it was uproarious)

-Vincent as imposter is fucking hilarious because he’ll just turn himself in???? Like he won’t even try. Everyone will tell him it’s okay if he gets a little stabby--it’s part of the game--but he just has no heart for it. Theo will often switch devices with him to relieve him of the stress. These rounds are always so chaotic because it usually takes the residents a second to deduce the switcheroo

-You know how I said Shakespeare plays buddy and then kills Vincent in cold blood? The hilarious inversion of this is that Dazai will often try to follow Isaac to protect him but Isaac will run away, so they will often be chasing each other all over the map LMFAOOOO Dazai will do this regardless of whether he is imposter or not, so there’s really no way to tell if he’s just messing with Isaac or has a lurking killer intent

-If Theo is imposter? Pandemonium. He will kill people off one by one in isolation and vent so fast nobody can figure out who did what, always paying close attention to the tasks that need doing so he has a solid alibi. Because Vincent tends to believe him and verifies easily, it can take a little longer for people to figure out it’s Theodorus. Arthur and Dazai tend to be the ones that are the first to suspect it’s him

-Sebastian will often be doing his tasks, just chillin. One can usually see him buddy system with Napo and/or MC. He loves to watch the other men be imposter and notes down their go-to tactics and reactions to killing and being killed in the game; especially if it’s uncharacteristic of them. All well and good right?

-Sebastian as imposter? The funniest shit in the world. He’s similar to Isaac in that he hates it, mutters apologies and grimaces every time he has to kill people (note: he does not include Arthur and Dazai among people, sometimes smiles a little if he takes them out;;;;). Will lie convincingly only because his voice/writing does not waver--his stoicism serves him well. When he has to kill Napoleon, though? Forget it. He apologizes a million times after, but honestly Napo just finds it hilarious--will just be like “well-played, Sebas, as expected of our resourceful butler.” Sebas still. Feels guilty. Like you can literally look at the chat history and see Napo as ghost like “AAHAHAHHA oh he killed my ass, nice” while MC’s like “lolol” and Jeanne like “he got me good too, never saw him coming in nav”

-Person who gets killed the least? Vincent (I mean come on, it’s Vincent.) MC is runner-up. They don’t like killing her, but there are a lot of idiots in the mansion that do it just to get a rise out of her (cough Leonardo/Dazai) or just because she’s an easy target in the moment

-Person who gets killed the most? Usually Arthur, runner-up Isaac (Arthur because everyone seeks to get back at him for his shenanigans irl, Isaac because he tends to get indecisive/nervous)

-Also this happens to Dazai once as imposter (Isaac plans it out of sheer spite) and the entire mansion was wheezing about it for weeks
