Background paintings in Ikevamp and why they matter

...even if you are not familiar with art.

Warnings: minor spoilers for all routes, though I tried to keep it as vague as possible

Time to talk about background paintings in Ikemen vampire because…why not?

First, let me warn you that the following is nothing but a theory based on some visual resemblance. While it may occur that Ikemen designers wanted to hide a few Easter eggs, it's also fair to mention that sometimes the sky is blue just because it's Sunday morning, and that’s all.

Nevertheless, one detail may hint at the former statement being true. And this is because there’s a significant difference in how different paintings are shown in the game.

Some of them are blurry, overdark or too bright. While we can distinguish some unclear silhouettes, the rest is on our imagination.

For example, it seems that the first picture is the natural landscape (probably, sunset in the forest) as well as the second one with the Ionic style columns being placed in the center of a garden. Still, we’re not sure.

But the thing is it doesn’t matter. The amount of details the viewer is given is too small for us to make any art-historical assumptions. Based on these mere images we can figure out neither the artist who painted them nor the narrative. Therefore, these paintings have only a secondary function of background decorations and proof of demonstration of their owner’s wealth.

On the contrary, there are paintings that we can easily detach because their creators are too famous to be unfamiliar with. But even within this scope of paintings there is a slight differentiation due to the way they are incorporated in the game design.

Some of them have been revived by the hands of geniuses who once created them. This is the case of Leonardo’s Study of a woman’s head and Study of Hands

or Vincent’s Sunflower and the Olive trees

While it’s easy to reduce the meaning behind this design decision to simple hype, I think that it also serves as a visual representation of the suitors' character traits. What is the point of redrawing the painting that was already brought to life a long time ago? For Vincent it means years, for Leonardo - centuries. My guess is that for artists like them it's never enough. Life is too beautiful to be captured once and forever. A woman’s face is never a mystery solved. While for many people it’s okay to achieve a goal and forget about it the exact minute they are done, for geniuses like Leonardo and Vincent it’s always different. You must improve. You have to work further. There is always something new an artist’s eye can capture. That’s why they painted it again, again and again.

Let's move to another group of paintings. Spotting The Starry Night in Theo’s room is not a surprise because we know that, first of all, they’re brothers with Vincent, and, secondly, Theo is an art dealer.

What deserves to be brought into focus is that this work is regarded as the elder Van Gogh’s magnum opus. Sure, you can argue that the real Theo and Vincent thought little of this painting, calling it “a failure”. To which I reply that, again, this is a game for numerous people across the world, including those who are not familiar with art history. For many of us The Starry Night is viewed as one of the most popular art works, a special work, a valuable one. Therefore, by omitting historical accuracy Ikemen writers and designers try to achieve something more contributing to the plot - they try to evoke certain emotions. Putting the art of such great significance in the room of one of the brothers should be a clear indicator of the amount of respect and love the two of them share. Describing the emotional bond between them is mainly the prerogative of writers. But sometimes game design plays no less if not more meaningful role in the process of us as readers getting familiar with characters. The painting here becomes a subtle part of the plot as it highlights certain prerequisites of their relationship and prepares us for what is going to come next.

The latter is especially relevant to Vlad's route. The female portrait in the pureblood’s room is what takes background paintings in Ikevamp on a fundamentally new level - the level of plot-forming core.

Unlike those paintings I mentioned at the beginning, these ones are no longer a substitute for the room decor. Instead, they serve as a device that pushes the plot forward. It accumulates three major points that are relevant to the plot:

It adds the mystery element for triggering our curiosity. The portrait is ‘faceless’, and even though we all see the resemblance in features, there is this ‘if’ element. What if they decided to go with a classical Dracula plot? Eternal vampire loses his lover and waits for her to be reborn? Is this MC? Why can’t he remember her face?

The portrait itself allows us to get for a second into Vlad’s head and understand his feelings towards the mysterious woman. Vlad drawing her portrait is caused by the act of kindness she showed him. His entire motivation is connected to the single painting. She was the one who he wanted to be with. In order to do so, he had to become strong, to accept his tragic loss and move forward. The portrait serves as a silent reminder about what was his goal and why he chose the path he chose.

It circulates the narrative. At the beginning, MC faces the challenge of being the third one in the relationship with Vlad and his unknown lover. She questions the identity of that unknown counterpart of hers and secretly wants to learn more about her. By revealing the truth of Vlad’s past and their connection, MC figures out who was the woman in the painting which in some way pushes her to find enough strength for making a certain groundbreaking decision.

Finally, there is the third group of paintings that possess what I call ‘potential meaning’. These paintings maintain the main features of the two previous groups, namely, vague silhouettes combined with a rather clear narrative that somehow increases the possibility of them being more than a decorative object.

Take a look at the two paintings in Vincent’s room. In comparison to all other paintings these ones differ not only in terms of shape but also in terms of color. The lines seem to be more fluid, and the color palette is dominated by ochreous, blue and black which is typical for East Asian classical ink art. By taking a closer look, you can actually see the vague outlines of the sea and shrouded in mist mountains in the background. Personally to me such landscapes together with a specific composition angle remind of Hokusai’s Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji which can be a great allusion to Van Gogh’s obsession with Japanese prints and their role in his artistic career.

The huge painting in Comte’s living room has been haunting me for years, I shall admit. It portrays a marine landscape with a single boat chasing the wild waters in the dark or right before the sunrise. When talking about marine art, the first person that comes to my mind is Ivan Aivazovsky. Yet, it is evident that Aivazovsky’s style was pure romanticism with heavy realistic elements, whereas this painting looks like it's more about light and colores rather than clear and precise lines. And also this sun, this strange orange sun..that can be spotted only in Claude Monet's Impression. Sunrise.

The mansion’s copy is a darker mirrow image of the original work. Nobody knows why Comte chose this painting for the mansion, but isn’t it a bit of irony that the painting that praises France, the country that suffered from the war with Prussia and was on its way to revitalisation, is located in the house that is about to face the battle between the lesser vampires and their haunters or rather the figurative war of two different morals (we are yet to know about it, though)?

Another version is that the painting serves as a metaphoric description of the character. In various routes MC mentions how Comte reminds her of the sun that made manifest, and everything supports this claim to be true, from his golden eyes and hair, to the brightness of the room and..paintings that symbolize the master of the mansion.

Finally, I wouldn't forget about the massive backlash Impressionists had to face at the early stage of the movement’s existence. It was only until the 5th Impressionist exhibition in 1880 that the artists finally got praised by critics. Just a bit more than 10 years before the MC’s appearance. However, we know that the creation of the mansion had taken place before this event. So, my point is that probably Monet’s painting was purchased by the greater vampire during the times when Impressionists were still harshly criticized by the Salon. And if so, the display of the painting that represents the les misérables of the art world speaks so much volume about Comte’s character and devotion to fulfill what he perceives as his noblesse oblige - to support those in need, to help them reveal their talent no matter what social class they belong to.

The game room’s central painting is another amusing detail as it’s completely out of mood. Playing cards, watching chess games or taking any other light leisure activity with a glass of brandy in your hand, you rarely expect to raze your gaze from the table only to stare at the image of ruins. Yet, this is what we get here - a typical capriccio painting like those of Alessandro Salucci and Leonardo Coccorante.

Capriccio artists dared to do something new in the history of art - they put real archeological signs into fantasy surroundings, sometimes from the same time period that the artists lived in. To an extent, they brought the ancient past and allowed it to live in the future, which is not a bad allusion to the original purpose of the mansion’s creation.

And here is what we can spot in Shakespeare’s room. At first, I didn't think much about this painting in Will’s bedroom but something felt odd. And then I understood.

You see, there’s this famous Vincent’s work named Cafe Terrace at Night. The painting is created from the north eastern corner that allows us to see the starry night without facing an obstacle in the form of the cafe's roof.

But this is how the modern cafe looks from a different perspective. Yellow elongated building with two wide niches that serve both as windows and entrance.

Do you see it, right? RIGHT?

I headcanon that Vincent was so eager to spoil his new friend with a present that he decided to redraw his favorite work and give it to the bard. But being an empathetic and observant one, Vincent immediately figured out Will’s admiration of everything unique and rare, so he decided to create a completely new version of his own painting instead of just redrawing it from the same angle as he did with sunflowers.

Aaand this is what we get in the living room. Random at first sight, the composition of various unrelated pictures actually makes sense. The most evident one is, of course, the image of theater curtains. What else should we expect to see in the manor of the great Bard of Avon? The same curtains, by the way, appear in almost every scene where MC and her suitor are invited to Shakespeare’s play.

Just a small detail, but I think this is one of those rare occasions when we can actually name the place Ikemen writers took inspiration from (apart from, of course, Louvre and the University of Paris). What helps us here is the curtains over which we spot golden metal lambrequin with a cartouche that imitates the image of the sun.

Such a prolonged lambrequin with the sun image (in honor of Louis XIV, the Sun King and also the father of the Paris Opera) in the center actually exists only in one Parisian theater - Opera Garnier, where in 1888 Shakespeare’s Roméo et Juliette was staged.

Just to make sure, look at the curtains in some of the most popular theaters that existed during the historical period in Ikevamp - Théâtre du Châtelet or the Opéra-Comique. You won't find a similar one.

Two last possible Easter eggs may be related to the two historical objects that existed during Shakespear’s era. The first one is still connected to the curtains for as you see, there were rumors (modern archeological findings prove them to be true) that the first venue of Shakespeare’s plays was called ‘the Curtain Theatre’.

And the second thing I want to point at is two images of the chair. Honestly, I highly doubt that a person like Will who has an almost narcissistic obsession with expensive staff would put a painting of such low value in his private apartment. But I can understand it, if this is not an image of some random piece of furniture but the well-known Shakespeare’s Courting Chair, wherein, according to William Henry, ‘the bard was used to sit, during his courtship, with his Anne upon his knee’.

We all know cybird is awful when it comes to running ikevamp but RN I have a whole thing about the demi-vampire and the dhampires

Demi-vampire does in fact mean half and half

And so does Dhampire

But they are different kinds

Slight spoilers

Dhampires are fully human on a new moon and are fully vampire (basically pureblood) in a full moon. Blood lust goes crazy and all. And for the rest of the month they are somewhere in-between.. they still need food, but I think they can be sensed by a pureblood as if they are a lesser (not 100% but that's what it seems)

But as far as I am aware.. we get no explanation on Napoleon being a demi in his sequel.

And I feel like demis were supposed to have a bigger impact, but then they had the idea of the racism in vampires and realized they needed to make it a bit more dramatic and made dhampires.

Bc Napoleon didn't need blood at all until the very end. Man was basically just human.

I wish they could go back and change Napoleons route and be like "yeah no.. he's a Dhampire" bc if we aren't getting any demi answers then he might as well be.

I also feel like it was a bad thing to have Napoleon as the first route if they wanted him to be a demi. They weren't 100% sure where the game was going yet, and maybe having a bit more lore premade into the game would have meant that we would have had time for answers.

They wanted to go hard with their first routes but it ended up creating a lot of plot holes and things not adding up.

Like I feel like if Leonardo was a later route it would be SOOOO much better, I don't think it's bad.. but it could have been even better. Or maybe they could have made another demi.. idk. But they wanted Galileo and Drake to have a story behind being half and half and with Napoleon being a demi, things wouldn't have added up so they needed a whole other breed of vampires

Even tho demi literally means half and half in this case

Ikevamp Suitors Help You Get Dressed

So! A while ago, I reblogged this gif set from a Russian TV mini series about Anna Karenina, depicting I'm assuming the leading lady and (likely, I don't know the exact details) her lover, Alexei Vronsky, helping her to get dressed. It's a detail not often depicted in media, a husband or lover helping their loved one get dressed, and that gif set, even though I know nothing about the show or about Anna Karenina, just thought it was incredibly sexy of seeing this kind of intimacy shown. It stuck in my head for a bit until I finally decided to apply the idea to the suitors.

And I did try to stay in the realm of a gender-neutral reader (as clothing does not have a gender, masculine-leaning or non-binary friends can wear corsets and skirts too if they want), but there are likely things that slip past my radar and I'm sorry if I didn't catch them before posting.

Also, a mention of a minor spoiler for Sebastian's entry where I mention he has a sister. She's mentioned in his bday stories, but not in a great amount of detail (as of yet, according to spoilers I've seen. She'll be mentioned more when his route comes out) so there's that.

Napoleon

If you manage to wake him at a decent time (preferably before noon), Napoleon will gladly help you lace into your corset, for a small fee of a good morning kiss. It doesn't take him long to pull on your strings and he can get them sitting right in minutes. He finishes off the tying with a little bow and a second morning kiss because he thinks you look cuter that way, especially the freshly kissed part.

Mozart

Mozart prefers to be quick and efficient most days, so when he helps you dress, he's likely the fastest of the suitors. Though there are times he pulls you a little tighter than he usually does, you're sure to hear your little gasp as the garment is pulled taut. He will loosen it and apologize with a small kiss if you complain though. When he ties you off, he prefers the knot (multiple ones at that) not only for their swift nature, but it's also harder to undo, so some hooligan pulling on your skirts will have a harder time undressing you and sabotaging your dignity.

Leonardo

As many an event can attest, Leonardo prefers to help you 'out' of the corset rather than into it, but he takes pleasure in lacing his cara up most mornings. With a cigarillo between his lips, he goes down your back pulling and settling the laces so they lay flat, giving you the most beautiful figure in the process, you'd think you had stepped out of a painting. He ties you off with a little bow.

Arthur

Another that muchly prefers helping you out of your corset rather than into it, Arthur still finds his pleasures with helping you lace up in the morning. He can never resist running his hands down your sides, the silk gliding across his fingers, a kiss and a whispered tease into your shoulder, maybe an ear nibble if he's feeling especially frisky. He ties you a loose bow, a promise for the two of you later on in the day to continue what that whispered tease suggested.

Vincent

Vincent is excited when you asked him for help lacing up your corset. He sits on his stool partially dressed in only his brown slacks, more eager to help you dress than to fully dress himself. He pulls on the laces gently but firmly, making sure every line of ribbon was resting comfortably on you. He finishes you off with a simple knot, tucking the extra ribbon length in the gap next to your hip, giving your shoulder a light peck and a small compliment about how beautiful you look.

Theo

Another that prefers efficiency in the morning because Mr. Art Dealer Extraordinaire has things to do in the morning, wake up, Hondje! He's likely up before you, pulling your sleepy self out of bed. Before he fully dresses himself, he's pulling up your stockings, slipping your feet into shoes, and wrapping a silky corset around your middle. He'll chuckle quietly and poke your side if you dare to yawn as he's pulling, messing up his rhythm. All in good fun though as he thinks your sleepy face is adorable, especially after he kisses your pout away.

Isaac

Usually one that's good with his hands, you would think that Isaac would be a pro at lacing your ribbons down your back. But, dear reader, let's also not forget how easily flustered he can get, the pink on his cheeks as vibrant as his hair as he stares at your various curves and grooves, or when he feels the warmth of your skin beneath the silky layers. Still, he tries his best to hold everything together, taking his time to make sure the laces lay flat and even, tying you off with a knot. Nice bows are a little complex for him at present, but he'll keep trying until you can get the best bow you deserve.

Jean

Jean is honored when you asked for help lacing up your corset, thinking it something akin to a squire putting armor on their knight. Though he is a little concerned his love has to go out in armor and wasn't taking a weapon with them (sword might be too heavy, perhaps a good sized dagger could fit under their skirts? A weighted baton, perhaps? He could show them some self-defense tactics at the very least) he still tries his best to be your best squire, lacing up as best he can, tying you off with a knot (or multiple ones for the same reason as Mozart, for your protection.)

Dazai

"Oh, Toshiko-san? Do you need some help?" Dazai sees your trouble one morning, laces uneven and you can't reach to tighten them better. Well, he couldn't leave you alone in such a state, certainly not, so he offers his services with your corset. You thank him and the two of you make light conversation, like where you were going so dressed up, what your plans were for the day. It was a far more pleasant start to the day rather than being tangled in seemingly endless ribbons. The only downside was your mini heart-attack when he sat on your window sill when he left, falling backwards and gracefully grabbing and climbing to his next destination.

Shakespeare

He's had his fair share of helping others change clothes, so his experience in theatre is vital in helping his love dress in the morning. His hair loosely tied up, he helps pull up your socks and slip on your shoes in quick time. With your corset, he manages just as easily as his costumed actors, though with slight more difficulty as there are more layers and different materials to contend with here. At least at home, he can take his time lacing up his favorite star performer rather than dealing with a rushed presentation and abject misery of time robbed to satisfy an imaginary standard neither of you wanted to abide by. For his own ease, however, he ties the corset lace off with a bow, so later on his time would be better spent with you quickly being able to undress rather than fussing with being perfect for others.

Comte

Given his penchant to buy you entire wardrobes full of the clothes, it's not really surprising he would sneak in some back-lacing corsets, because his chérie deserves the full turn of the century dressing experience, if they so desire to, of course. When you ask him to help you put one on, he's delighted, hoping you would ask him at some point. He takes his time, making sure the laces were nice and even, tying you off in a simple knot and giving a neck kiss for good luck.

Sebastian

Growing up with a sister, he's had his fair share of helping them get dressed up if there was a fancy party going on. So, it was no surprise at how quick and efficient he is with helping you dress, as he is with all matters concerning the vampire household. He makes light conversation, telling you what he knew of the history of corsetry, and that he had some strong words for the perpetrators of extreme tight-lacing rumors and the horrible after-effects it's had on the garment's reputation in the later centuries. When he finishes lacing you up, you'll have the most stunning figure and be the most comfortable you've felt wearing fancy clothes. Sebas would be proud, bowing to show his thanks for your compliments.

Vlad

One that isn't that great at getting up in the morning, Vlad's more likely to send you to Charles to help you dress, but today his floricică was insistent. With a yawn, he sat up in bed, his deep red eyes still full of sleep. He moves to the edge, having you stand between his legs as he methodically moves down your back, straightening and pulling where needed. When he ties you off, he pulls you close and falls back onto the bed, refusing to release you despite the squirming. It was your punishment for waking him so early.

Faust

The other one that would sooner send you to Charles to help you dress, he fairs better than Vlad, standing up while putting on his glasses. He makes minor complaints about beauty standards being inherently foolish, especially when it makes dressing one's self overly complicated. Your bone structure and muscle to fat ratios were fine in his eyes, so he really saw no need for the corset and petticoats. He even briefly considered offering to use his scalpel on you, but humans don't heal as quickly for his liking as vampires do, if they did recover at all, and like he said, he likes your proportions where they were. The matter was left alone with a kiss and a promise of strong coffee.

Charles

The usual early riser that helps the other residents wake up, Charles is ecstatic with the idea of helping you get dressed in the morning. Sometimes a little too eager with the first few times tying you just a tad too tight. He'll immediately apologize and loosen the laces, giving your neck a little kiss to show he's sorry. He ties you off with a bow because he likes you to look cute.

Horrible brain torment puzzle for the Ikevamp fans. Spoilers for Dazai and Sebastian's route. Saying a specific route is the canon one is pointless and shit-stirring, for dating sims. We know this. However....

...reading Sebastian's and Dazai's routes makes the back of my neck prickle. Do these men like...straight up die if MC doesn't stop their nonsense?

Like, if MC is off smooching, idk, Leonardo, say. Does Comte change his mind and step in when Sebastian tries to slink off to his death bed? I think it's reasonable to assume that, without MC, Dazai wouldn't meet Charles, and therefore would remain ignorant of Vlad's door. Would MC and the other mansion residents figure out his plan, and stop him from going to Japan in 1909?

Am I supposed to assume these men figured their shit out and survived? Assuming they die is hella depressing. What do you think happened? There are no answers or resolution here.

hey sweetheart!!

on the topic of unrequited love: i was wondering who you think it would be in ikevamp and ikepri. Mind you the lists are in order of who I have read, currently on Comte’s ending, starting Faust tomorrow (I think) and on Ikeprince I’m currently on Jin Chapter 7 so I don’t know really have an explanation for certain pairings. Also, there might be a few spoilers especially on Ikemen Prince (if you haven’t gone through certain routes). You can do Ikemen Revolution (only if you want); I completely forgot to do those characters but it’s nearly 1am right now and I need to wake up early today so my sleep is in schedule for tomorrow.

for ikevamp - if we ignore that Vlad kinda likes her in all routes (just not mentioned in most) because of her talking to his younger self. I also want to say the people in bold, I kinda just mix and matched because I have no idea what the two characters are like together because I haven’t done either of their routes.

(Main Character/Unrequited):

- Dazai: Arthur. I feel like these two are the ones who pick on Newt so they’d probably pick on the mc or even try to outflirt each other using the mc. They’re both incredibly smart and probably figure out the other’s feelings towards mc. Dazai going into his ‘I want to die’ stages where he doesn’t want her to love him back because she’s get hurt so he pushes her onto Arthur.

- Vlad: Faust. I mean they are obviously in the same mansion. I expect there to a be a scenario of Faust, Vlad and the mc having strawberries and they both offer theirs to her.

- Vincent: Shakespeare. This happens in his route.

- Arthur: Theodorus. These two are always around each other, hanging out at bars and being bros. If Arthur was continuously bringing the mc around himself like he does in his route, I believe Theo could fall in love with her.

- Charles: Vlad. I know this is alluded to happening in Charles but I also say it because Charles adores Vlad and if Charles was aware of Vlad’s feelings for her, I feel like he wouldn’t know what to do.

- Saint-Germain: Sebastian. I was going to put Leonardo, but I feel like Comte would pretend he doesn’t like mc like he does in his route using the excuse that he is a something vampire (I forgot what it’s called 😭) and she’s a human. I bet she’d get sad and Sebastian would cheer her up as they spend a lot of time together. Comte would be watching and probably thinking ‘she deserves to live a life with another human like her’.

- Faust: Charles. I feel like this man is Charles’ older brother and he’d properly hurt the mc’s feelings so they don’t pursue a relationship for Charles’ sake. This is another pair that have a threesome in one of the events.

- Isaac: Dazai. Again, teasing Newt activities. I believe that mc and Dazai intrude on Newt because he’s always in his room. Mc would probably go inside alone too. She might find him sleeping at his desk and put a blanket on him and talk about her confusing feelings towards him *cue Dazai watching from behind the slightly ajar door*

- Napoleon: Jean.

- Jean: Mozart.

- Shakespeare: Leonardo.

- Mozart: Isaac.

- Leonardo: Comte. I’m not sure if this is mentioned but I’ve heard that in his actual route this does happen. I might actually start this route next 😏 Also, there is a event story where there is a threesome with these two I- ;)

- Sebastian: Napoleon (this man is obsessed with him as far I am aware and I don’t know much about him because I haven’t done either of these two’s routes. But similar to Theo, I believe he’d feel like he wouldn’t be able to give the mc what Napoleon could.

- Theodorus: Vincent (this is where he starts questioning if he could give his hondje to his older brother) and is like I’m not sure I want to let go of her or hurt him.

Ikemen Prince (ignoring Rio’s love):

- Chevalier: Leon. I mean they’re from different factions. But like the same position. Not that Chev feels threatened but considering Belle’s position in the palace, I think that she would probably focus on interviewing these two the most. Clavis would definitely create a situation where they probably have to compete for her or well to find her. Imagine her getting trapped in his traps and having to be rescued by one of the two (because Clavis would sneakily reveal it only to them).

- Rio: Silvio. I mean Silvio doesn’t show up until the end of this route but he would follow his route’s storyline and end up hogging her time from Rio. Rio feeling jealous and ‘rescuing’ her from the jangler.

- Licht: Nokto. I mean at the end of Licht’s route, Nokto makes a joke about stealing her from his brother and Licht gets jealous. I feel like Licht would only ever get jealous if mc were to hang around his twin brother. I imagine Nokto liking her because he keeps an eye on her because he doesn’t want his brother to be in pain, which she will inevitably bring to him. But then he slowly starts falling for her.

- Yves: Licht. Yves loves Licht. These two are my best boys. But we see how insecure Yves really is in his route, I imagine him conceding to Licht because he believes Licht deserves some good in his life and that a half Obsidian like him cannot be with the mc. But she likes him back so…

- Clavis: Chevalier. Inferiority complex. Imagine interviewing King Highness and the jokester following you around. Clavis sulking when you start becoming friends with Chev (kinda like in his route). Getting jealous over the book bribing. Ha! Imagine him trying to get her a book she wouldn’t have so she’d come to thank him.

- Silvio: Rio. That’s it.

- Luke: Sariel. This decision was made because in Luke’s route, Sariel is content that Belle is bringing his attention onto doing his duties. I imagine him asking her to ask Luke to do certain things and Sariel rewarding her for it. Sariel would let it go because Belle has a good impact on Luke and he wouldn’t want to interfere with that.

- Jin: Luke. This comes from guilt as well. I feel like Jin being the kind guy he is gets ‘these kids’ to bond over their lessons. Luke gets protective over mc like in his route. Jin falls in love with Belle but obviously he doesn’t want to because of the situation with the King and his mum; the former Belle (which I learnt from Luke’s route). I think he’d feel guilty over Luke’s sister and because he is literally waiting for Luke to kill him; he’d probably know of Luke’s feelings and try and get mc to fall for Luke even if it hurts him because he feels like he deserves it for the past.

- Nokto: Yves. This one was the last one I decided. I don’t really have a say in this. I think considering the mc is ‘pure’ in comparison to Nokto and Jin, she’s probably in the same boat as Yves. I imagine her watching them fight and those two making sexual references (like in Jin’s route) and Yves getting all red in the face.

- Leon: Jin. Again, I don’t know about this duo as much. But I have learnt that these two are really close. And I know Leon’s backstory because it got spoiled in this fic I read (I acc love spoilers tho because I hate not knowing what is going to happen).

- Sariel: Clavis. Okay, my reasoning for this is the hellcat is Sariel’s biggest problem child to deal with. I feel like Clavis would start dragging mc along with his shenanigans (similar to how he does in his route) and Sariel checking up on her especially when she forces herself to eat the weird-looking ‘food’ Clavis makes. I don’t know Sariel’s character only from what I’ve learnt from Clavis’ route and a little from Luke’s.

- (Gilbert): This guy wouldn’t let anyone near mc after he realises he needs her. Or even when he starts seeing her a real friend. I feel like the most obvious choices would be Chev or Silvio. Silvio definitely flirting (more like aggressively suggesting how much money she wants) as revenge (for everything Gilbert causes to happen in his main route). It’d probably end up the same as his route, where he starts proving to her money is everything. I believe Gilbert would probably start being a menace towards his dear friend Silvio. Chev and Gilbert are actually really similar in their meticulous tendencies and planning. I don’t see Chev falling in love with the mc but he’d probably think of her as a friend (as much as the man can).

- (Keith): Is it weird to say that it would be himself? Like normal Keith and then Alter!Keith. They’d be jealous of each other. Maybe Yves and Licht at the tea parties.

Sorry it took so long to get back to your ask, but those are all super good viewpoints on who potential is and isn't.

I've managed all the routes in IkePri up to Rio & Sariel, so I know the bare minimum for those two. Keith's will be out for EN soon as you saw, but Gilbert's route is something I can't confirm nor deny as I'm in the absolute dark about him and only know the vague nesscities of his character via events, some of the routes, and what folks were willing to share without going too heavy into spoilery details. But I know know for certain he's a deeper rooted character in the sense theres more to him that EN players themselves don't know that JP players do.

I'm sure they've got all the answers for you about Gilbert's standpoint and placement with potential love rivals than I can give 😂

IkeRev I've pretty much got all the available routes done for sans Sequels, however I've been dragging my feet immensely with Dalim's, so I can't even begin to give a coherent potential answer on that.

The I believe Act 1 for IkeVamp didn't have much implications on the potentiality of love rivals (it's been a minute and I am going through all the routes twice, right now it is Theo's and then it'll be Vincent's again) but I think it was more implied with Act 2 after being fully introduced to Vlad, forgive me if I'm wrong on that matter... Vlad, Faust, and Charles did get introduced during the time I was MIA from IkeVamp for about 2 years.

But I can see a lot of those, especially if you look deeper and in-between the lines for some of them.

Though like you pointed out, some are a little more obvious in the mark, like Charles to Faust and Vlad to pretty much everyone in Act 2's routes, though as a minor little spoiler for Dazai, it could be seen as Charles (as it's painfully obvious with the choices Charles makes in Dazai's route) since he does go the extra miles to try and make MC happy.

It's for sure one of those, looking at it from multiple viewpoints and lens as well as another person's opinion on the matter of who could be whose, which is really neat.

Lore AbeAsa part 1

Sedikit banyak mengandung spoiler dari hampir semua rute suitor karena lore-nya Asaka sistemnya tambal-sulam, ga masuk main route-nya Abel secara spesifik.

Beda sama Asaka di universe IkeSeries lainnya, Asaka IkeVamp tuh MC, meski ketemunya sama Abel bukan di Louvre, tapi di Fushimi Inari (Asaka umur 25). Asaka ke situ tuh dalam rangka jalan-jalan abis putus dari tunangannya. Jadi Fushimi Inari itu ada kuil kecil bener-bener di puncak hutan yg bisa dicapai 2 jam ngedaki tangga dari main shrine di bawah (landai sih, ya makanya 2 jam karena jalannya diputer ga yg pendakian terjal banget). Asaka tuh naik sampe ke puncak, karena pernah ada janji sama mantannya mau naik ke sana, dan ga jadi karena keburu putus.

Di sanalah Asaka ketemu Abel. Ngeliat dandanan Abel yg... Comte lah gimana, sama Asaka ditanya pake bahasa Inggris apa dia turis atau bukan. Terus Abel jawab pake aksen Prancis. Asaka tuh kan half Prancis (ibu) Jepang (bapak), jadi lanjut diajak ngobrol pake bahasa Prancis dan nyambung. Ga ngobrol banyak sih, intinya Asaka ngejelasin tentang Fushimi Inari, terus Kyoto secara keseluruhan gimana. Abel dengerin dengan serius, sampe akhirnya mereka berdua mutusin buat turun.

Pas di tengah jalan, Abel ngeh Asaka lecet (dari wangi lukanya) dan Abel akhirnya nawarin (setengah maksa) Asaka buat naik ke pundaknya. Abel becanda bilang, "Nanti pas udah sampai bawah, kalau saya ga nurunin kamu, tolong teriak aja biar saya ditangkap pihak berwajib, ya?" Orang berani bilang gini berarti emang bener ga ada niat macem-macem, akhirnya Asaka percaya dan naik ke punggungnya Abel sampe balik ke main shrine.

Sampe ke main shrine, sama Abel tuh Asaka diturunin dan dituntun ke infirmary buat ngobatin lukanya. Nah pasti di situlah aslinya Abel pamit, bilang makasih karena udah ditemenin Asaka jalan, dan wishing happiness lah buat Asaka. Asaka juga tipe yang ga ngejar ga apa, jadi pas Abel pamit ya udah Asaka juga ga ada yang ngerasa canggung apa gimana (karena Asaka suka baito sebagai guide juga makanya biasa banget sama turis begini). Nah beres Asaka diobatin inilah, pas mau keluar dari bangunan infirmary-nya, dari koridor yang berlawanan sama pintu masuk, Asaka nyium wangi cologne-nya Abel dan ngerasa ngeliat jubahnya Abel belok di sudut koridor. Asaka cemas ngiranya Abel nyasar, makanya dikejarlah sama Asaka ke ruang lain. Dan di ruangan itulah Asaka nemu pintunya Abel. Dibuka, dan HALOOOO PARIS ABAD 19.

Adegan berikutnya adalah adegan standar ketika MC di-pinning Napoleon di balik gorden. Bedanya, saat itu Napoleon langsung jadi korban tamparannya Asaka. Asaka tuh kan baru putus sama tunangannya, aslinya dia lagi masa2 PTSD yang nyebabin Asaka ga bisa sembarangan dipegang cowok lain. Sama Abel bisa, karena basically Abel izin dulu waktu mau gendong dan nuntun Asaka. Napoleon tau dari reaksi gemeternya Asaka, makanya pas dibawa jalan ke ruang makan, Napoleon sengaja jalan agak berjarak dari Asaka (sekalian ngode juga ke Arthur supaya Arthur ga pegang Asaka).

Asaka pas diajak makan malam juga sama canggungnya kayak MC. Dan pas malam pun sempat mimpi yg sama tentang digigit vampir. Ke dapurlah ambil minum dan bertemulah Asaka sama Sebastian, yang sama juga berusaha jelasin true nature-nya mansion itu, berujung kedatangan Arth0t yang dengan gamblangnya nunjukin kerah baju dia yang ada cipratan darah. Asaka panik, abis pamit ke Sebastian dan Arthur refleks kabur dari mansion. Nyampe gang di kota, Asaka nyaris dimangsa laki-laki di kota tapi untung ditolong sama William disusul kedatangan pria-pria mansion ke TKP untuk bawa Asaka pulang (based on rute William). Sampai di mansion, Leonardo bilang, "Kalau kamu ngerasa segitunya ga aman, oke aku bobo nih depan pintu kamar kamu." And he did it 🥹🥹🥹 (based on rute Leonardo).

Tambahan. Arthur kena omelan semalam suntuk dari Abel perkara udah bikin Asaka takut dan kabur dari mansion. 🤣🤣🤣

Hi Lyn! Thank you so much for answering my IkeVamp ask a few days ago, I appreciate you! I’ve had fun playing the last few days, drew a very handsome Napoleon card, and a 5* Mozart which, while not my fav, definitely helps when battling :)

What routes do you think I should read after Napoleon’s? What are some of your favorite cards and events? I want to learn more about what you think of the game :) (I’m drawn to Isaac, Vincent, and Theo’s routes after Napo right now!)

The one thing about IkeVamp rn is that it feels slower than IkePri, but that’s likely because I’ve played the latter for longer and I’m just starting out in Vamp.

Hmm. Depends. If you don’t mind getting spoilers, do whichever you feel like it xD. But Shakespeare, Comte, Dazai and Sebastian were the latest routes. When I started playing ikevamp, Napoleon, Leonardo, Arthur, and Vincent were the routes available at that time.

If you’re looking for soft boys, you’ll probably like Isaac, Vincent, Comte. Some people think Vincent’s route is kinda boring and I understand them because compared to other routes there was not much going on. But as I like Vincent, I had a great time reading it. Vincent is one of the few routes I already did both ends. I prefer the romantic one for him.

I think the pace of Theo’s route is the opposite of Vincent’s due to their personality. I read Theo before Vincent, which was not the right order. Imo, it didn’t make a difference. But I think it’s important to play both brothers' routes if you want to get all details about their past lifes.

If you wanna get to know some tsunderes, then definitely Mozart and Theo. Mozart’s route is very underrated if you ask me. Mozart is my type of tsundere.

If you like slow burn romances, Jean and Sebastian are my favorite routes. But there is also Dazai, which is a very intriguing character. I also did Sebastian twice. I prefer the romantic route for him. But his dramatic is very interesting as well because you get more info about his past.

There are only 2 routes in ikevamp that I don’t wanna read again cuz I didn’t like: Theo and Comte’s. I will not explain why I didn’t like them cuz Idk if I can do it without giving spoilers lol. But that's just a matter of preferences. I know people who loved those routes.

I’m not that good in remembering the name of the events hahah, but without a doubt, ‘your wish is my command’ is my favorite story event. I also like the revival that's an AU where MC reincarnated and the boys are trying to find her again.

Favorite cards? Hmmm… There are so many pretty cards. And I didn’t get most of them lol. But the favorites I got so far are these:

Spoilers ahead for IkemenVampire!!! Beware!

Someone tell me if I’m crazy or not, but is it just me or do the rules for the door change per route?

For example:

Leonardo’s route: he was warned that he could be trapped forever.

Vincent’s route: He was told he could go through the door with risk of not making it, but that he would no longer be a vampire.

Edit: In Vincent’s route he was told that a pure blood would be fine, which meant that Leonardo could also go through the door without a problem in this route, maybe???

Theo’s romantic route: He went though the door with (once again) the risk of not being able to make it with her. However, he was still a vampire.

hello! i hope you don't mind me asking you this but what is your ideal mc? i'm genuinely curious especially since you seem to despise ikevamp mc so much, so if you were to change/add something to her personality, what would it be? usually, when we write fics, we tend to change the mc's personality. Damn. I've never been more happy that I'm nowhere near Japan if that's the case.

I just wish MC wasn't a giggle little teenager when it came to relationship things. She's a mess when holding hands, or kissing him..EVEN IN EVENTS WHERE THEY HAVE BEEN TOGETHER FOR A WHILE.

And I don't mean a cute mess bc she's so in love. I mean a blushing embarrassed mess.

Bc I'm reading Fausts route I've noticed a few things, don't worry no spoilers

But he's trying to get her to eat and she yells "I hate you!" And mixed with the context of it it's like ??? Those are your choice of words???

I get it's translated, and it's never going to be perfect, but some of the words they use for translation isnt great...sometimes she's more of a stereotypical white blonde girl

Personally I think she has too much hope in the world, but I'm also a depressed bitch so that could just be a me thing but girlie you're from Japan where how much SA happens??? Are you blind to this

Mozart: I hate you. You're a nuisance, and no one wants you here

Mc: I'm going to make him say thank you to me before I leave!

Look I was SOOOO excited for this event. Only to find out MC is an undercover cop who acts like they have had 0 training and is outed in the first 5 minutes and can't use a gun

ITS AN AU EVENT.

All in all I wish she would be a little more mature with relationships. Ik being dumb and getting kidnapped is for plot...it's not good plot.. but I get it...plus it's not meant to be historically accurate...but girlie nearly gets assaulted her first night in Leonardo's route (and another one I believe) bc she ran out of the mansion...THEN STILL DECIDES ITS A GOOD IDEA TO BE OUT BY HERSELF WHEN SHE JUST PROVED SHE DOESNT KNOW HOW TO ACT IM HIS TIME PERIOD/COUNTRY

Girl.. you're a travel blogger....you should know some basics...

I hope that sorta answered it. I went a lil off track. Handle relationships better and be a lil more self-aware. I don't think that's much to ask for considering all her faults
