oh it would be very ironic for huntsman to be named after a species of spider that can be very big but also being the shortest out of all the spider demons. that's a bit funny

am i truly like. the only one who really liked that ending and thought it was a logical and satisfying end to what they've been building up to so far...?

#bucchigiri?!#bucchigiri #i basically guessed most of the stuff that happened. and even predicted some more things when i did my little rewatch beforehand #feel very compelled to make a full series breakdown. because a lot of people only seem to be mad because this show isnt what they expected #tedpost #tedtalks #yeah sure some of the stuff right at the end was very tacked on. but thats how endings tend to go for most animes.#you get a little slideshow at the end! because it saves time for the big showdown #WHICH WAS SO GOOD LIKE CMON PEOPLE #and im gonna be honest. i felt more satisfied by this ending than i did by braverns ending. WHICH WAS FINE BTW.#but with how ending tend to go for originals. i liked this one more.

thinking about Adventure Time and how special it is

to be more specific, how special it is to me and my family. the show was one of my mother's favorite shows, she identified with Marceline's story the most and she even had gotten a prop axe guitar SIGNED BY OLIVIA OLSON!!!

my mom has been gone for some time now, she never even got to watch the show past Stakes. I think she would have loved the finale, Distant Lands and Fionna and Cake.

I wish we still had all her AT merch, I wish we still had the axe guitar especially. on the guitar was the lyrics to Fries, but with my mom's name instead, written by Olivia Olson herself. it was one of her favorite songs

now me and my dad bond over watching the show, both out of our own enjoyment, cause god is it funny and tragic. has made us both coughing and wheezing, and tearing up and choking up. and from the reminder the show has of my mother.

my mom would sometimes sing Everything Stays to calm me and my siblings, when she was mentally stable anyways. whenever I'm sad now I sing the song to myself. it reminds me of though my mom was not a great person (story for another day), she still cared about me.

Adventure Time is such a special and beautiful show, and I am so lucky to have grown up with it.

hi how's your summer going? read any good books? had delicious ice cream? some craft project you're working on? have you sat round a campfire with friends? do you have any juicy gossip or a new celebrity you're obsessed with?

#i've read good books. the runners by olga tokarzcuk and the castle by kafka were phenomenal. now im rereading the witcher series so i can #eloquently point out to my brother everything i hate about the netflix show. even if they're not gonna follow the story to a tee they could #at least match the vibe. the atmosphere the philosophies presented. at the very! least! the traits in the characters and their relationship #that actually endears us to them but they had to be some stupid game of thrones meets marvel with every line a chewpid quip filled w as muc #cussing as possible whether it makes sense for the character or not #uhm sorry didn't mean to rant #i've also been knitting and am in fact not yet watching the og star trek as i'm rewatching the most memorable episodes of ds9 and writing #reviews for them in a little notebook. stuff i get up to with the time gained not being on tumblr

i feel like if nat did recover and drag the other girls into recovery we just... wouldn't really have an adult storyline anymore? so i don't think her dying was the Worst choice, but i also just don't... see how it's supposed to feel narratively satisfying or narratively tragic. they could've absolutely made it feel that way with the writing this season but rn i'm just not seeing it.

#yellowjackets tag #yj spoilers #i also do understand the sentiments of seeing a character fighting to live for all her life finally getting better only to die #and im not sure how to feel about that #i dont rly think this is the show For that sort of positive development - at least not this soon into it #maybe? i mean we saw shauna making some progress about callie but... if the show is about trauma #they need to keep spiraling i guess for 3 more seasons idk :/#it's just. im devastated but if they'd made it feel more narratively tragic i would be on board #not just 'oh shes trying so hard to recover then boop she dies </3' cheap tragic just... idk im not making the connections here #they couldve juxtaposed her will to live with her death in a way that's... more impactful i guess #which is so weird to say bc she died the way she wishes she did for javi all those years ago but i still didnt. feel it.#but i wouldve been alright with that probably - not happy obvs but if it served the story better i'd be less weird feeling rn #they just....... really wasted nat for so much of this season it didn't feel earned #idk. gonna hopefully do a rewatch so i can see what mightve been leading up that i missed the first time #im just... not feeling a lot of this

things i would like to have written at the end of this rewatch but idk if i'll get around to it and am writing here for Public Accountability Hopefully Making Me Commit: - timeless children watch: lines or moments that gain significance with the TTC reveal, or are otherwise re-contextualized in interesting ways (have a couple of s1 ones but forgot to keep doing it for s2, may need to go back to compile them) - favorite characters of the day ranking: just highlight some cool characters and storyline that get forgotten with time. - doctor who and colonialism: again something i keep writing little notes / takes about in each episode but maybe would be nice to have more cohesive thing at the end

newsflash asshole! there have been running plotlines thru every sunny season that not only ties the seasons themselves together but connects the whole show as one cohesive narrative the entire goddamn time!!!!
