"The Desert Flower" is a uniquely beautiful home, inspired by earth ship homes, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. 5bds, 7ba, $3.754M + $41mo. HOA fee. (You can't even escape the HOA in the desert.)

This home is an amazing example of how beautifully adobe, stucco, stone and wood can be sculpted when you know what you're doing. Look at the glass roof above the beamed ceiling.

Look at this sunny, cozy little space to sit. That must be a light fixture above the table.

Lovely indoor patio is also a conservatory.

The kitchen cabinetry is built with various types of wood, perhaps salvaged. Wonder what they made the counters out of, they look so smooth. And, check out the kitchen sinks. There's even an exhaust hood fashioned from stucco.

This den has a built-in corner desk, a shelf inset in the wall, and some cool shaped windows.

This is a very large home and one of 7 baths has a large shower, a shelf, and a round bowl sink in a vanity that fits in perfectly with the style of the house. I like the shape of the door, too. It would fit my hips.

The primary bedroom is large, has lovely double doors to the garden, plus a lighted niche, small fireplace in the wall, and a cabinet. The scalloped ceiling is also interesting and ties in with the door.

Beautiful en-suite has a nice big vanity.

The cozy family room has a unique long triangular fireplace, a skylight, (this house gets a lot of natural light from the many skylights), plus a cool lofted area. Not the side table in the corner is built into the wall, plus there's a little shelf on the fireplace wall. There are also some built-ins on the left.

This is the entrance to steam room and sauna, with shower. What an interesting doors and look at the storm cloud window in the door. This is so cool.

Another lovely sitting area with a great fireplace and doors to the patio are in a secondary bedroom.

This secondary bedrooms is spacious and has doors to the garden.

I love the wall and how the pebble design on fireplace mirrors the pattern.

Isn't this beautiful? A natural looking tub & shower with a fireplace. This would be my favorite bathroom.

Check out the shower. It has a built-in seat and a little shelf.

Outdoors is a lovely private pool.

Beautiful wildflowers grow in the yard. The home has 11 acres of land.

baseball is (almost) back!

so here's a bunch of random stuff about the jays! (i'm presenting this to my friends tomorrow loll)

let's start with the jays theme song thingy (?) there is also a dance that i learned in school - you can catch a lot of the players doing it while they play the song. i believe in the 7th inning they play it and all the fans dance too!

i know non Toronto Sports Fans don't know about this, don't think about the batflip as anything other than a pretty picture or whatever, but it was So important. the jays 2015 playoff run was before the raptors championship, before marner debuted or matthews was even drafted, and for nearly twenty years before then every single goddamn major team in this godforsaken city was terrible. they'd make the playoffs and lose in the first round, if they were lucky, but usually they'd miss the playoffs. finish in the basement.

and jose bautista changed that. did you know that he's one of only two players to be on five different mlb teams in a season? rule 5 drafted, claimed off waivers, bought, traded, traded again. he eventually landed as a bench guy, a spare third baseman, on the toronto blue jays, and only slipped his way into playing when injuries opened a spot.

and then he got better. in 2010, he hit 54 home runs, the blue jays' single season record. the jays' single season HR record and the maple leafs' single season goals record was the same number for eleven years. the blue jays finished fourth, out of five, in the al east division.

for a long time, you see, the blue jays were terrible.

and then in 2015 something changed. they started winning. all of a sudden, the players they'd gotten -- donaldson, martin, estrada -- started working, and the team shot up the standings. their opponent? the texas rangers. sure. whoever.

the first round of the mlb playoffs was a best of five. this one took all five games. the jays had lost the first two, at home, and won the second two on the road, and came back not sure what to expect.

at the top of the seventh inning, the game was tied, with a texas ranger on third. the catcher, russell martin, threw a ball back to his pitcher marcus stroman and did it wrong, striking the batter's bat on the way back. without realizing it, the ball had turned live. the runner scored and the jays were losing. fans were angry. players were angry. it took eighteen minutes to sort out what was going on before they could end the top of the inning.

enter adrian beltre. he was the rangers' 3B then, I don't know what he is up to now, and he was very good. but he made a fielding error, right there. and there was a hit that went over his head, and he made another fielding error, and another hit and the game was tied, with two men on base and jose bautista up to bat.

and jose bautista hits it practically out of the building.

he never made the world series, retiring a few years after 2015 and finding something else to do with his baseball knowledge. he probably isn't going to the hall of fame, but he will live on in toronto forever. so thank you joey bats. welcome to the level of excellence

Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero (2023) Carlos López Estrada & Zac Manuel -- (3.5/5)

There are far worse ways than this to spend 90 minutes. Long Live Montero is a surprisingly upbeat look at the ins and outs of Lil Nas X's (aka Montero Lamar Hill) first tour in 2022. I don't remember them ever giving the present year, and jumping around in time both on the tour itself and back to 2016 and 2019 with the releases of his first single and the eventual album make things a bit convoluted. No explicit mention of what happened in March 2020, so it's a bit off-putting to suddenly see occasional masked audience members when the time comes, but it ultimately helps the documentary keep its upbeat tone and message provided by the grounded lead and his loving fans that are individually involved.

Giants Edge Twins 4-3.

The Minnesota Twins haven’t been hitting consistenly in the month of May. They have either scored ten runs or three or less and have been in a slump lately. The bats were hot early as Donovan Solano lined a one-out single to right to ignite a rally in the first. Later in the inning, Byron Buxton drilled an Alex Cobb splitter out to left for a two-run home run. The Twins had a two-run lead after an inning of play. Michael Taylor added a run in the fifth when he belted an Alex Cobb splitter out to left for a solo shot. Minnesota had a three-run lead and Sonny Gray ran with it through five shutout innings. He ran into some trouble in the sixth as JD Davis walked and Michael Conforto doubled. Mitch Haniger walked to load the bases and Gray was out of the game. Jovani Moran got the first two outs fine then Patrick Bailey and Brett Wisley drew bases load walks. This pulled the Giants within a run after six frames. San Francisco got back to work in the seventh as Thairo Estrada led-off with a double to center. Two batters later, Michael Conforto knocked a Jorge Lopez curveball out to left for a two-run homer. The Giants had a 4-3 lead and Alex Cobb finished off seven solid innings. Scott Alexander had a 1-2-3 eighth and Camilo Doval struck out the side in the ninth as the Giants took the series from the Twins tonight. 

-Final Thoughts- Sonny Gray pitched a good game, but left with a bad taste. He had thrown five shutout innings and couldn’t get an out in the sixth. He gave up two runs on six hits with two walks and six strikeouts. Jovani Moran got two big outs and Brock Stewart got out of the sixth. Jorge Lopez gave up the game-winning homer to Michael Conforto. Griffin Jax had his second straight good outing when he struck out the side in the eighth. Emilio Pagan had a 1-2-3 ninth. Byron Buxton led the team with two hits on the night. The team hit 0-for-1 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. Carlos Correa was a late scratch with a heal injury. Tomorrow, Joe Ryan faces his childhood team against Anthony DeSclafani in the series finale.
