The Very Useful Watermark Feature

Whenever I bring up subject matter that involves procedures whereby the location of the feature has moved from one version of the software to another, you should know where it is situated from Version to Version of the software.

The Watermark is a very important feature that should be used to protect against wholesale copying.

Let's take a quick look at the Watermark.

If we choose to implement a watermark in MS Word, we make a decision whether we use a generic watermark such as "Confidential" "Client Copy" etc. or we can use a picture or logo type picture and finally we can use a "Custom Watermark" whereby we type in our own text such as our company name, website etc.

Note: Your Watermark will not print if you do not have the selection “Print Drawings Created In MS Word” checked. You can find this setting under File, Options, Display, Printing Options.

If we print out the file, the watermark will be visible on your hard copy. If we send the file in MS Word to someone and the file is not password protected, then someone can simply remove it. Finally, if we save the file as a PDF, then the watermark will be present in the PDF on its own layer. Again, it can be accessed and removed if you don't password protect the PDF file from editing. In Adobe Professional, this can be done under Tools, Advanced Editing Functions and choose -Touch-Up Object Tool. And one should remember the many programs that break the passwords set on both MS Word and Adobe PDF.

Keep in mind that the watermark can be implemented from the Adobe file since Adobe Professional and Nuance allow one to create a watermark in the newly created PDF.

In MS Word 2010, we find the watermark under the Page Layout Tab.

In MS Word 2013 and above, here is how to get to the watermark feature:

Click the Design tab.

In the Page Background group, click the Watermark button. A menu plops down with a host of predefined watermarks that you can safely place behind the text on your document's pages.

Choose a watermark from the long, long list or customize your own.

Note: To "flatten" the watermark so that it can not be removed! Using Adobe Professional or Nuance, In Nuance, look for the Advanced Processing Tab and select "Flatten".

In Adobe Pro, Click the Layers button, and select "Flatten Layers" from the options menu.

Travelling in Korea need not be costly. How? First of all, you've got the option of riding the inexpensive subway system that takes you anywhere you want to go with its several route lines. 1. Cheonggyecheon (Cheonggye Stream)

Once an ignored overpass back in the 70s, this long stream stretching across the city now bursts with inviting charm from the serene sound of water and colorful lights at night. The stream was restored in October 2005 by then-Seoul mayor and now President Lee Myung-Bak. Nothing compares to spending your day here at the stream, cozily playing with water and admiring pieces of art surrounding the place. Namdaemun means "Great South Gate" and Dongdaemun, "Great East Gate". For sure, experiencing these places will engage all of your five senses. See the sights, smell and taste the food, hear the trade and feel the people. Namdaemun offers you items on wholesale and retail with its more than a thousand shops, stores and vendors. Along the streets and alleys of Namdaemun are souvenir shops where you can buy Korean dolls, keychains, fans, masks and other traditional items. Also, street foods like odeng and tteokpokki are available. This place closes every Sunday.

How to go there: Get off at Hoehyeon Station of Line 4.

Another must-see place is Dongdaemun, where shopping never ends. You can also get stuff on wholesale or retail here. There are around 26 shopping malls in this area, two of the most known as Migliore and Doosan Tower. This Day in History: The Tea Act of 1773

On this day in 1773, Parliament passes the Tea Act. The decision was the catalyst for a memorable pre-Revolutionary War event: the Boston Tea Party. The Tea Act wasn’t quite what many modern Americans imagine. Many Americans likely believe that the Tea Act leveraged a massive tax hike on the colonies. Colonists received it badly not only because they had no representation in Parliament, but also because the Tea Act was going to cost them so much money. Such modern perceptions are inaccurate, to say the least. For starters, the Tea Act didn’t raise taxes on tea. Americans had been paying taxes on tea since 1767, when the infamous Townshend Acts were enacted. Instead, the Tea Act of 1773 had a surprising effect: It made the tea delivered to the American colonies cheaper. By the terms of the Act, Parliament effectively gave the East India Company a monopoly on sales of tea to America. The company would “appoint its own licensees to sell tea directly to consumers and bypass wholesalers and retailers,” explains historian Harlow Giles Unger. “By eliminating ‘middle men,’ a handful of East India Company licensees would be able to sell tea at prices below even the cheapest smuggled tea. . . .” But the colonists weren’t focused on inexpensive tea. Instead, Parliament’s decision resurrected the old discontent: The colonists did not think that the taxes on tea were legitimate in the first place.
