I wanna post some health and appearance tips because I seen someone else on my tumblr do it.

These are actually mind blowing tips that I’ve tried and tested, actually have science behind them, and make the overall process much easier, i may not have alot of followed and it’s pretty long but please read because these are actually some revolutionary tips like the type of tips that people gatekeep. But that’s not me

Some of these products might be expensive/out if the way I’m sorry, I’m 19 and live alone have been working full time since I was young. I don’t have tips for hiding anything though since I live alone and when I was at home my family never really cared anyways these are mainly tips on how to upkeep your looks while restricting so that way you can look healthy while getting skinny, but I do have some prouducts that will raise less suspicion for anyone who lives at home still.

✨ Tried and tested ✨

Hair~

Hair breaks when you’ve been restricting for a long time but these products have really helped and now I don’t have split ends. Their fine hair friendly as well, just remember shampoo your roots and only condition and oil your ends

Olaplex conditioner and the Olaplex hair oil

shea moisture Manuka honey and manfura oil intensive conditioner

Amika soulfood deep conditioner

Any shampoo with rosemary (makes your hair thicker and has been proven to be as effective as rogaine)

Tessa peays (you can find her on tiktok and YouTube) hair oil recipe and hair oil routine

Body care~

Skin gets really dry sooo

Olay body washes (literally any kind will work their so hydrating, they have a niacinimide one which works to brighten up your skin)

Any lotion with Vaseline in it (Vaseline will lock all moisture in and is the most effective humectant on the market. I don’t recommend using straight Vaseline Vaseline though because that will get all stick, just use a Vaseline brand lotion)

Body scrub once a week

Skincare~

Moisturizer. When your restricting you need to invest in a moisturizer, keep your skin hydrated

Sheet masks 1x a week. I like to use ones that are specifically food themed cuz in my head it’s giving my skin the nutrients I don’t wanna give to myself

My favorite kinds are: the tony Molly “I am-“ ones. Mediheal placenta sheet mask (my skin litterally glows after the placenta one) innisfree honey sleeping mask

I don’t recommend doing diy skincare but the only thing I will ever recommend along the lines of diy skincare is a honey and avacado face mask, makes my skin so hydrated and plump

Foods~

(Some of these might be a fear food for alot and can be a little calorie dense but they help with your appearance)

Berries: especially blueberries and strawberries (have highest antioxidants, which help your apperance)

Cherry and pomegranate juice (antioxidant thing I mentioned above)

Avacados and chia seeds (kinda high in calories I know! But they have lots of omegas and healthy fats and chia seeds are full of omegas and proteins, these will keep your skin dewy and keep your hair nice, chia seeds will also keep you feeling fuller for longer and are a natural laxative)

Eggs: protien+good for your hair

Health in general+ weight~

Quit nicotine. I know that nicotine is like a staple in our community and I myself and on my journey of trying to quitting smoking but after years it catches up to you, and it causes acne. If your not eating your body isn’t going to put that nutrients to upkeeping your face, I already have faint smokers lines around my lips. plus it makes working out easier

(If ur a girl/have female parts) you need to get a probiotic in and get regularly tested for bv and ye⭐️ast infections. You will be prone to bv and yeast “imbalances” while starving and they can cause a lot of problems from stomach bloating to lack of desire and pain and a lot of times are asymptomatic. This happened to me and caused alot of mental anguish because the pain made me question my gender identity and the bloating made the mental aspect of my e d worse and I didn’t even have any symptoms

Don’t use miralax, it’s really bad for you. Drink senna tea, it’s less suspicious and actually works faster and better than laxatives. Plus it doesn’t destroy your organs like miralax

Don’t use trendy diet pills. If your going to take anything get “Garcinia Cambodia” supplement and take it with an apple cider vinegar supplement. Get the acv pills instead of drinking actual acv becsuse it’s better on your teeth (have to be taken together, a study was done on this combination plus it’s been really helping me)

Fast instead of ⭐️ve: I’m not going to get too deep into the science of it all because I’m bad with my words and explaining but basically when your restricting I t’s actually more harmful to your metabolism, makes you crave more food and makes your hungrier making everything harder because that’s what actually puts your body into starvation mode is a constant input of extremely few calories. When your fasting your body goes into “modes” that are actually benifical to your body,metabolism, cravings and feelings of hunger. When you focus more on not eating anything for a long period of time (fasting) vs “I can only have x calories today so I’m gonna eat x and x and x” -(restricting), you’ll find it makes you not only loose weight faster but also make it feel easier

Which is why I see a lot of ppl on here say things like “I can fast so easily but restricting is so hard” well that’s because there’s literally a science to it. And a little secret, after you do general fasting a few days (not for days straight but more so one meal a day like 24 hour fasts and 16+odd hour fasts) it gets easy. It is litterallt so much easier than plain restricting

Take collegen supplements if it’s something your not afraid of because their very good for supple skin and also for hair as well recent studies and random experiments I’ve seen on YouTube have shown

Take biotin~ for your hair

Drink “sparkling ice” drinks. They 5 Cals and have vitamin B’s which are good for your metabolism

So I was talking with @mejomonster about skincare the other evening/day and I thought I would share some of the skincare that I use. Now, my skin is pretty oily and sensitive and this is what I found works best for me (might not work for everyone, but it works for me) (you will also find that majority of my skincare is Korean and again, that’s just because Korean skincare works best for me)

So for cleanser, I use this:

White Seed Exfoliating Cleansing Foam

I like it, it’s really gentle on my skin. I normally use it in the morning with a Clarisonic brush and I find that it gets my skin really clean

When removing my makeup (if I decide to do a full face):

Rice Water Bright Light Cleansing Oil

Again, really gentle, really gets the makeup off. And I normally double cleanse whenever I wear makeup, so I use this first and then I’ll wash my face with my face wash

As for my actual skin care, I usually don’t do it in the summer as again, oily skin and because I don’t hardly ever leave my house other than to buy groceries or to run errands. But anyways.

So, I use the Pomegranate & Collagen line from The Face Shop and this is their toner and emulsion, which is what you use before you put on moisturizer. I also use The Ordinary Glyoclic Acid 7% Toning Solution but this I use more for my dry scalp (which I learned from an instagram post) whenever it gets pretty bad.

As for moisturizer, I interchange between the Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil Face Butter and the KEYS Soulcare Skin Transformation Creme. They’re both really moisturizing and hydrating so it’s great for the winter whenever my face gets really dry (and winter is normally the only time I actually do my skincare because my skin HATES the cold)

Finally, I use either the innisfree Daily UV Defense Sunscreen (SPF 36) or the Ph. Hubby 1g Sun Cream (SPF 50). Both really great sunscreen and they don’t leave a white cast (for people with darker skin, I don’t know how true that is but on me they don’t leave a white cast). They’re both also super lightweight so it doesn’t feel like you’re wearing sunscreen at all (which I like because I hate the feeling of sunscreen on my skin)

Anyways, this is my skincare that I use (whenever I actually fucking remember to do it/use it)

1. Innisfree Jeju Pomegranate Revitalizing Serum (50ml / 1.69oz) source: Innisfree Melbourne thoughts: I really liked the scent of this and this was moisturizing. However, this was a bit too oily for my face, hence I used it on my body instead. rating: **

2. Crest 3D White Brilliance Blast Toothpaste (90ml) source: n/a thoughts: I can’t recall how this went, but I believe this was my first time trying this line of toothpaste. From what I can remember I didn’t find that it whitened my teeth, compared to the David’s toothpaste. I see more results when I am using my David’s toothpaste. This toothpaste lasted me a little over 3 months. rating: ~

3. Sulwhasoo Bloomstay Vitalizing Water (150ml / 5.07oz) source: Sephora thoughts: This was a nice product and my skin felt hydrated. However, the fragrance in this was a bit strong for me compared to some of their other products. I finished this in 65 days and I was using this day and night about 2-3 splashes each time. rating: **

4. The Face Shop Herb Day Cleansing Wipes (70 wipes) source: Nature Collection thoughts: These have just been my go-to since a long long time. I just like the scent and the quality of these. rating: *HOLY GRAIL*

5. Unicharm Silcot Velvety Touch Cotton Pad (82 pcs) source: n/a thoughts: These are really nice and soft. However, these are on the expensive side but you usually get two boxes for the price you pay. rating: ***

6. Some By Mi Clear Spot Patch (18 patches) source: YesStyle thoughts: I have tried many different kinds of pimple/ spot patches. These are another good option, just like the G9 Skin and Tosowoong. This pack comes with 18 patches, 9 patches at the size of 10mm and 9 patches at the size of 12mm. These ones are a little more pricey if you consider the amount of patches you get for the price, however I feel like these absorb a little better than the other 2 brands. G9 Skin and Tosowoong are still my favourite for the price and quantity you get, but these are very good as well if you need something to quickly reduce in size and redness. This is my first time trying this brand out and I have heard a lot of things about this brand, but I think I haven’t gotten to it because most of their products do contain some form of hyaluronic acid which does not go well with my skin. rating: ***

7. dear, klairs Daily Skin Softening Water (500ml / 16.9oz) source: Wishtrend thoughts: “Daily Skin Softening Water works comfortably on your skin even fir daily use. Cucumber Water helps hydrate dry skin and the various exfoliating ingredients make your skin smooth and healthy.” I really liked this one more-so than the ‘Hydrating Water’. This makes my face feel hydrated and refreshed. Plus this does last a long time, a bottle lasts about a third of the year to half a year. I got this during Wishtrend’s Black Friday sale back in 2019 for about $22 CAD. This lasted me 207 days and I used it day and night. rating: ****

8. Adagio Teas: Snow White (15 tea bags) thoughts: “An apple tea blend to help Snow White ward off the wicked Queen’s poisonous spell and awake with the gentle kiss from her handsome Prince.” I’ve got this a few years back as a Christmas gift with 2 others. This was part of the Fairy Tale set by Adagio Teas. This tea contains : green rooibos, apples, hibiscus, cocoa nibs, cherries, cherry and apple flavors, coconut. Not my favourite one out of the three, since I’m not a fan of cherry flavoured stuff unless it’s the actual fruit. But these teas have a very cute concept and they match well with the flavours based on the fairytale. rating: **

9. Meito Royal Milk Tea (240g) thoughts: I have tried so many royal milk tea powders, that I have lost track of which ones were really good and which ones were on the sweeter side, etc. But I do like this one and I found it to be the right amount of sweetness and tea flavour. Typically these run about $10-15CAD a bag. rating: ***

10. Whisk Organic Hojicha Powder (100g) thoughts: I’ve actually have had this in my stash for a long time. I wasn’t a fan of hojicha until recently, because I just found the perfect/proper way to prepare it. At first, I found hojicha to be very bitter and too roasted for my liking, but after adding the right amount of sugar as well as a better way to prepare it I have found a new found love. I really enjoyed it and I can’t wait to continue preparing it the way I have, and I also can’t wait for the warmer months to prepare it in iced format. rating: ***

Cutie Reviews: NMNL August 19

So.... in the end, I decided to send those pictures after all. I’m not sure if they will do anything about it, but they usually do, I just need to wait for a response. Their usual is to send a replacement of the missing/broken item, but if they no longer have it or can access it, they will lower the price of another box usually.

“Can you believe its August already? We hope you enjoyed the summer essentials from last month’s box. Now hat you’re ready for summer we want to give your skin a natural glow. That’s why we’ve included skin care but also other exciting products like lip care products and of course makeup!“

Contest

This month, those who entered the mini-contest could look forward to products from Innisfree, including Jeju Cherry Blossom Lotion and Moisturizer, while runner-ups could obtain one of the various no-sebum mineral powder, featuring a cute bunny design on the lid.

Glam Gift

Meanwhile, the Glam Gift featured various skin products to enhance and protect its natural beauty from the brands 16Brand and Aritaum.

For August, this months horoscope was “must try face masks“. I couldn’t include a pic this time, so I’ll just write them down:

Aries: Collagen mask - for improving skin elasticity.

Taurus: Snail - for firming and protecting the skin.

Gemini: Manuka Honey - for rich nutrition and moisturization.

Cancer: Pearl - for brightening your skin.

Leo: Tea Tree - for clearing and moisturization.

Virgo: Ceramide - for strengthening and moisturization.

Libra: Hyaluronic Acid - for deep hydration

Scorpio: Green Tea - for calming and refreshing your skin.

Sagittarius: Damask Rose - for brightening and moisturization.

Capricorn: Lemon- for fresh moisturization and vitality.

Aquarius: Pomegranate - for vitality and firming your skin.

Pisces: Aloe - for calming and refreshing your skin.

Awapeccino Foaming tool + cleansing powder set

First up is this fun little tool that brings to mind a drink (the name is based on Cappuccino, a drink, and awa awa, which I think is the “noise” to describe foaming up), but you don’t use it for food, you use it to lather/foam up skin products. It includes 2 sets of powders that you mix with a small amount of water depending on the consistency you’re in search of. Now, I didn’t think to get a picture of them - but the powders are an item we had before. A few months back we got a set of them, and believe it or not I still have one remaining that I didn’t use up yet. They have a lovely peach scent~

They suggest upon using them up, you can replace them with things like body soap and other cleansers, such as another product we also got in this months box.

On one hand, you could say this isn’t a necessity product, but it’s really fun and kind of cute to look at. It also saves you from combining the product in your hands (which is how they suggested doing it before) or in food containers if you didn’t have something else, and in general it’s really easy to use and clean up.

What I found really nice was that you can leave your left-over in the container and it’ll be good later. It does thin down but you can easily re-foam it. Now, this specific product gained a yeast-ish smell by the 3rd day so I discarded the little amount left, but I’m not sure if the same would happen to the other items.

Snail Essential Cream & Deve Foaming Facial Cleanser

Our next item is an essential cream by eyeNlip, a korean cosmetics brand. This cream is made from snail secretion (this must be a new trending ingredient, I’ve been seeing it a lot more recently) and contains 10 different seed extracts and several other fun things. It’s spout pouch makes it easy to use and bring around, and it not only improves elasticity, but it reduces fine lines.

I’ve been using this after using the facial foam products and I love how it feels. It has a bit of a cooling effect while applying it, and I found a little goes a long way with this, so although its small and doesn’t seem to have much product, it will last you a good while depending on how often you use it. It’s not sticky and the skin absorbs it quickly, and it makes it feel smooth. It also smells really good.

This item is the one the pamphlet recommends using once you use up all your powders for the awapeccino. The Deve foaming facial cleansers come in 4 varieties (Honey, deeply moisturizing, rose, charcoal) and uses all natural products.

I normally don’t like honey very much, but when it comes to beauty products you can either get items that smell like honey (a very... pungent smell <_<) or it will smell like a flowery-sweet honey or hair product. In most cases we get the second option, and this fit the bill in terms of scent. The product is thick and foams up very well, it feels very nice on the skin and I think it’s been doing pretty well. The bottle is also very full with product! It’s perfect!

Choosy Moist Lip Pack

Choosy lips are a fun product that is not foreign to this blog, I’m pretty sure we had this one before too. In this months box they were available in either mint chocolate or chocolate banana, both made with the intention to moisten the lips and keep them feeling smooth after 5-30 minutes of wear.

It smells very yummy, like typical mint chocolate anything. But I love mint chocolate ♥ It makes me want to eat it~

However... in saying that, it might just be me but it seems like whenever use these (for the full 30 minutes) the effect never lasts very long, maybe a few hours if that. They’re really fun and always smell good, but I’m not really sure if there’s a way to improve that or if is just me.

Choco Mint Face Mask

Choco Mint is very popular and trendy in Japan as both a food item and sheet mask. This specific one was part of dessert mask set, which we did have before. It came about a year ago or so with another dessert ask, but this one is made with cacao, which moisturizes the skin, while the mint lightens and refreshes it.

I think I still remember using this previously. It has a very strong mint chocolate scent -again it makes me want to eat it- but if I recall the mask quality itself wasn’t that impressive or the effects didn’t last too long, there was something about it I didn’t like.

Lovely Cookie Blush

Now I know what you’re thinking, “they gave them 2 of those?“ but if you’re a reader of the blog you might remember me mentioning this blush :3 the one not being held is my original one. I’ve had it for a couple years now and its still good, it’s one of the very few blushers I own and use. The one I originally owned is #2 Strawberry Choux, and the new one is PK002 Grapefruit Jelly. Due to the numbers, I’m not sure if they got rid of mine or if this one is a modified/renamed version. The other color available in the box was PK004 Peach Choux Wafer.

I was very excited to get another one; but as you can see (or not, the picture didn’t come out as well as I was aiming for) there are a couple of differences between them:

The original one has an Etude House logo, while the newer one has a logo for the Cookie Blusher.

The ribbon on the puff is different in shape between them.

I noticed the colored part of the container on my original seems to have a very faint pearly finish, while the new ones are plain plastic.

Besides those things I didn’t notice any other differences other than the color itself, which surprised me to see that the new one is a lot more noticeable in comparison to how pale my original one was. But I still really like it in both quality and cuteness factor ♥

Petit Bunny Gloss Bar & Aurora Eye and Lip Topper

To say I was excited is an understatement when it comes to this next product! I’ve been wanting to buy the Petit Bunny Gloss Bars from Tony Moly when I first spotted them a few years ago- but I put it off and I heavily regret it now because before they had a full set and now I can’t seem to find it anymore.

These are ultra-kawaii moisturizing lip gloss bars with a sheer color and glossy finish; they come in a variety of colors, each with a bunny that has a different facial expression. These can be used on top of matte lipstick, or on their own, and they’re also available in perfume sticks, which I also wanted and never bought <.<

On Japan Haul and in the box these were available in Strawberry (which is the one I would have chosen), apple, cherry, peach, and orange. But if you go on Amazon you can find a few more flavors/colors. They are also scented and it smells very good.

The product is extremely shiny (not glittery like the pic would have you believe), and it is moisturizing. It makes the lips very smooth and even though it is orange, it looks pretty natural on the lips and isn’t obnoxious looking at all. I always worry orange won’t look good on me, but I don’t have a problem wearing this.

Our final item of the box (see the first pic in this section) is a little container of Crayon Touch-Me Aurora Eye & Lip Topper, a product meant to be worn over other products or on its own. It was available in silver, purple, or pink.

I like it :3 it feels very light weight on the eyes and lips, and it’s extremely glittery and leaves no bumpy, crusty texture from the glitter in the product. There’s a lot you can do with a product like this.

♥ Cutie Ranking ♥

Content - 5 out of 5. I loved all the products! I had no complaints (unless you count the face mask remark I made, but I’ve had worse) and I feel like my skin has been very pampered and rejuvenated... even though it’s now late-fall/autumn. But it’s very face oriented, which on one hand is a little boring.

Theme: 5 out of 5. I can see how these items would be pretty nice to have during summer and for the “glow“ vibe they fit very well. But they also strongly remind me of products we’d expect to see in winter themed boxes too, or any time of the year honestly.

Total Rank: 10 out of 10. I’m not sure this feels like a summer box to me, only because of how widespread I can see these items being- but I really like them and I think this would be a really good one to recommend if you like facial products. I found the face orientation a little boring because I prefer a nice mix of products, but that doesn’t change how much I like them.

can you rec some cheap sheet masks? for spotty skin?

i like sephora’s own brand masks and also innisfree’s; i think sephora discontinued their honey line but i love honey as an ingredient in masks for acne prone skin for its antibiotic and hydrating properties. tea tree oil is also a good ingredient to look for. from sephora i’ve also used their pomegranate, pearl, green tea, and lotus masks, i don’t think they specifically target blemishes but they improved my skin without breaking me out; of course, what breaks you out might be subject to personal sensitivities or the specific skin issues you have. iirc tonymoly sheet masks also gave me good results, i think i tried the algae one.

Guerlain Abeille Royale Cleansing Oil Anti-Pollution

What you need to know: This month, Guerlain has released its very first makeup remover in its renowned Abeille Royale range. The oil formula transforms into a lightweight milk upon contact with water to soften and hydrate the skin whilst removing impurities. Suitable for use on the face, eyes and lips, the new product effectively removes pollution particles whilst protecting the skin’s pH level.

GOOPGENES All-In-One Nourishing Face Cream

What you need to know: Gwyneth Paltrow has released a new face cream under her Goop brand which has been clinically proven to keep skin moisturized for 48 hours. The whipped formula contains plant-based ceramides and botanicals that work to hydrate, firm and even skin tone. Plus, the formula also helps to improve skin discolouration whilst also brightening the skin.

Tom Ford Black Orchid Parfum

What you need to know: Tom Ford first introduced the Black Orchid fragrance in 2006. Now, almost 15 years later, the designer has reimagined the signature unisex fragrance to bring out the olfactive impact of the black orchid, ylang-ylang and black plum like never before. The new iteration is housed in an eye-catching gold bottle, which will look as good on your countertop as it smells to wear.

What you need to know: Dior is releasing its Dreamskin Care & Perfect formula in a new 75ml size this month. Made with shea butter and vitamin- and mineral-packed water from the Alps, the product works to reduce the appearance of spots, whilst transforming skin to be tighter and brighter.

Weleda Awakening Oil

What you need to know: Beauty editor-loved brand Weleda has released its newest sure-to-be cult product: the Awakening Oil. The oil harnesses the power of pomegranate seed oil (as well as eight other plant oils) to boost moisture and nourish the skin. It can be used alone, or mixed in with your favourite moisturizer – or if you’re a face tool fan, pop a little on your skin to help ease any friction before using your jade roller. Celebrity makeup artist Pati Dubroff uses the oil over makeup to add a little dewy goodness to her look, all whilst hydrating her skin. Skincare + glow-up? Yes please.

Tatcha Rice Wash

What you need to know: Cult skincare brand Tatcha has released its newest product this week in the form of The Rice Wash. The product was inspired by the centuries-old tradition of using leftover rice water, which is rich in skin-friendly vitamins, as a form of skincare. The brand describes its newest addition as “a purifying daily cleanser that transforms into a gentle foam to wash away impurities without stripping skin.” It’s made with Japanese Rice Powder which works to boost luminosity, as well as Okinawa Red Algae, Japanese Brown Algae and Hyaluronic Acid for hydration.

Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Multi-Recovery Complex

What you need to know: The new Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Multi-Recovery Complex is Estée Lauder’s biggest launch of the fall, thanks to a new discovery from the brand in the field of Epigenetics. The new formula contains a patent-pending micro signaling molecule activator which “helps skin increase its natural renewal of fresh new cells and production of collagen for firmer skin” for the first time, according to a release. The result of this breakthrough for the customer is brighter, more radiant skin with increased antioxidant protection, a strengthened skin barrier, a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and pores and a more even skin tone overall.

Charlotte Tilbury Jewel Lips & Jewel Pots

What you need to know: Charlotte Tilbury’s newest collection was inspired by “the light-reflecting, universally-flattering, red carpet glamour of jewels” and contains both a lip shine and a cream shadow. Both products are available in two of the makeup mogul’s best-selling shades: Pillow Talk and Walk of No Shame (there’s also an exclusive-to-Sephora shade of Jewel Lips called Pillow Talk Rose Jewel). Both of the lightweight, limited edition formulas are made with hyaluronic acid and vitamin E for hydration and moisture, as well as diamond powder for a high-shine finish.

Available in four fragrances – Noir (a fresh citrus scent), Blanc (a soft floral scent), Vert (a fresh rose scent) and Brun (a heavier scent made using amber and oud) – each have been made with amino acids and hydrating ingredients to treat your locks as well as making them smell so good.

Indeed Labs Nanobronze Bronzing Drops

What you need to know: The newest product in the Indeed Labs lineup allows you to get a sunkissed glow, without having to set foot in the sun. The brand uses a botanical pea extract (officially called Heliostatine ISR) which has been clinically proven to deliver a tan enhancement effect to the skin. The blurring formula also contains a blend of actives for blue light protection, as well as hyaluronic acid and a giant kelp extract to protect skin against environmental aggressors.

What you need to know: Ever wanted to try microblading but put if off because you’re nervous about the commitment? Well, Benefit’s new Microfilling Pen has been made just for you. Using a three-prong tip, the pen allows users to create fine controlled strokes that fill in gaps to give the illusion of thicker-looking brows. Plus, the water-, smudge- and transfer-proof formula (which is available in four shades) will stay in place for 24 hours.

Dermalogica Hydro Masque Exfoliant

What you need to know: Dermalogica is launching its newest masque this month which promises to exfoliate and hydrate in a single step. The formula includes snow mushroom which holds 450 times its weight in water to deliver instant hydration, as well as bamboo to help prep skin to receive the hydration boost. Simply massage the product into you face, let it activate for three to five minutes before washing off and finishing with your favourite moisturizer.

EauMG’s July 2018 Empties

July was a very busy month for us. We moved (and most of my perfumes are still in boxes) and then immediately went to visit in-laws in Ohio for a week. It’s August and I still don’t have furniture. Fun!

Because I’ve recently been confronted with everything that I own, I have tried to take it easy on the purchases. My goal is to get through the stuff that I already own (and like) before buying more. That’s always easier said than done. An outlet mall outside of Cincinnati had great deals on YSL makeup, so I bought a few tubes of lipstick at a ridiculously low price. When I traveled, I ran out of lotion so I ended up buying a Moringa one from The Body Shop. And finally, I bought the BH Cosmetics Zodiac palette despite not needing another palette. A friend had it and it’s so gorgeous that I couldn’t resist.

Here’s what I emptied in July:

SKINCARE

I didn’t empty too much skincare because I started full-size bottles.

The Ordinary Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% – This is the Vitamin C I prefer from The Ordinary because it’s cheap, doesn’t irritate my face and the formula isn’t gritty/gross. It brightens my complexion and fades post-acne marks.

Repurchase? Yes. And I’m tempted to try some of their more expensive Vitamin C in liquid form.

La Roche-Posay Anthelios Dry Touch Sunscreen SPF 60 – This stuff gets high reviews from Consumer Reports because it works. But, gosh, it is not my daily driver because it leaves such an awful white cast even when you are being careful. It also dries my skin out. But, it works! Review here.

Repurchase? Despite its flaws, I will. It’s my beach/desert sunscreen.

Innisfree Nourishing Mist with Canola Honey – I love the floral-y honey scent of this line and tbh, that’s the reason I bought the spray. I like the dewy finish the spray leaves. It’s a little sticky but that’s a look I’m going for.

Repurchase? Probably. I can’t stay out of Innisfree.

Henné Organics Rose Diamond Lip Exfoilator * – It’s basically cocoa butter, sugar and smells like rose bonbons. Review.

Purchase? I love it but I have found that I have been using physical lip scrubs a lot less these days.

Valmont Hydra3 Regenetic Cream (travel size/mini) – This is a lightweight gel that is like a Gatorade for dehydrated skin. It feels weightless; yet, it leaves skin looking plump and hydrated.

Purchase?

Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Rescue Mask (mini) – This smells like cucumbers and has flakes of seaweed in it. It’s a nice mask for skin that’s like “wth am I supposed to do with this dry, rough but also cystic acne skin?”. It doesn’t do much for me but it does leave my skin feeling nice and like I tried to fix my problems.

Purchase? No because of cost and because I like other masks from the brand better.

Valmont Prime Lip Repair (deluxe sample) – No clue what this is actually for or what it does that an eye cream with a lip balm couldn’t do. But, I like it. It does smooth the area and make applying lipstick easier the next day.

Purchase? No. It’s a non-essential product.

Valmont Prime Renewing Pack (deluxe sample) – My absolute favorite wash-off mask.

Purchase? I will one of these days that I run out of samples.

Skinfood Fresh Apple Sparkling Pore Emulsion – I don’t even remember using this.

Purchase? Yawn. What? Oh, no.

The Sheet Masks:

TonyMoly I’m Real Red Wine – Tonymoly masks are so basic but out of their “I’m Real” line, the Red Wine one is one that I like. It’s fresh, cooling and smells like tart pomegranate.

Repurchase? Maybe if it is a good deal.

3W Clinic Fresh Green Tea – These are super cheap and usually decent (for like 50 cents) but the cut/fit of this one was comically bad for me.

Repurchase? No.

Leaders Amino AC-Free Mask – Leaders is my favorite brand of masks and this is one of my favorite varieties. It’s for oily skin and actually has exfoliating ingredients.

Repurchase? I still have a huge box of these left.

Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels – My allergies have been awful. I used this one morning when my eyes were puffy and felt so bad. These really felt great! It took down some of my puffiness too.

Purchase? I’m really tempted…because I always have allergies.

FRAGRANCE

If you look at my Instagram Stories, you’ll see that I mostly wore Chanel Venise in July. I put a dent in it but didn’t empty much else. My perfumes were packed up, etc.

Malie Organics Linen & Room Spray in Plumeria – It’s a humid, slightly fruity plumeria soliflore. It smells like the real-deal, almost like gardenias meet fresh grapes.

Repurchase? Maybe.

Samples I’d purchase or at least consider:

Montale Sweet Peony – Review. Well, I’ve been wearing a lot of different perfumes for a long time and my spouse did say this one was “wow, sexy”, so there’s that.

Diptyque Oyédo – Review. I’ve been obsessed with this stuff in July.

Samples I wouldn’t purchase:

Tom Ford Neroli Portofino – Review. tbh I remember liking this a lot more than I did this time. This sample smelled really synthetic and was heavy on the white musk. Reformulated? Most definitely.

Mugler Les Exceptions Hot Cologne – Review. I wore this during it a thunderstorm and the coffee note was much more present.

Ramon Monegal Impossible Iris * – Review

BATH/BODY

If there was a theme in this section, it was “summer gourmands”.

Korres Vanilla Guava Shower Gel – I forgot how much I love Korres body products. This smells just like vanilla extract – rich, sweet and boozy with a twist. It does have a faint undertone of overripe guava.

Repurchase? Yes. It’s one of the few gourmand shower gels that I can tolerate. It’s oddly sophisticated for what it is.

Malie Organics Coconut Vanilla Body Cream – It’s a sweet, toasted coconut gourmand. Don’t let the packaging fool you. This really is a thick body cream so a little goes far. I thought I liked the pump until I got to the end. There’s still some in there that I can’t get out 🙁

Repurchase? No.

Sally’s Box Friendly Cherry Blossom Hand Mask – These plastic cow udder looking gloves filled with essence are so weird but they do make me sit down and marinate my dry hands and cuticles. This one smells like cucumbers and cherry blossoms. It did a great job of making my hands look less corpse-y.

Repurchase? Maybe if I see it around.

Sabon Passion Fruit Carambola Bar Soap (not pictured) – Honestly, I could barely smell this. I could tell that it was probably fruity.

Repurchase? No.

Kneipp Body Wash in Soft Skin Almond Blossom (sample) – I was disappointed that this didn’t smell as funky as the bath oil. It’s still nice though.

Purchase? No. I like others from the brand better.

Bliss Grapefruit & Aloe Body Butter (sample) – Has a grapefruit meets licorice smell. Leaves a nice moisturized sheen but then I realized that’s just coconut oil so it’s probably never going to “penetrate” my skin.

Purchase? Mixed feelings. I liked the sheen and the smell but unsure about moisture levels with just this sample.

HAIR

For me, this is a lot of hair empties and I feel really proud of myself, lol.

Pantene Expert Collection Age-Defy Conditioner – This stuff really does smooth my hair and make it less frizzy and more shiny. I know it’s prone to build-up but dang, sometimes that is what my hair needs so that it will stay put.

Repurchase? I would if I could find it. I think it’s been discontinued.

Roux Anti-Aging Color Protect Shampoo * – It’s a decent shampoo with a strong “soapy” aroma. It worked well with the Pantene above.

Purchase? Nah.

ion Color Defense Detangling Shine Mist – A duo-phase product that does exactly what it says it will -detangle and shine. My hair loves this stuff, makes it a lot more manageable and sleek looking.

Repurchase? Yes.

The Original Mane ‘n Tail Shampoo (huge size) – I absolutely despise this stuff to its core. I bought it because an aunt had used it on us as a kids. But, omg as an adult it literally breaks my hair and makes it fall out like I’ve never seen before. I lost so much hair using this. So, I demoted it to brush cleanser. It sucks at that too. It doesn’t clean and it even made my brushes shed like crazy. WTF?

Repurchase? NO! I can’t believe I have a huge bottle of it too.

Gloss Moderne Clean Luxury Masque (sample, 1 packet) – Smells tropical like cocoa butter and coconut. Does a good job of moisturizing and makes the hair feel soft. Is it HG? No, but it is good.

Purchase? I like it but it is very expensive so that’s probably a no.

Aveeno Pure Renewal Shampoo & Conditioner (samples) – Very <meh> and has a strong soap-y unpure fragrance.

Purchase? Nope.

Marajó Nourishing Cleansing Cream & Deep Treatment Butter (samples) – Really liked how both of these worked but need to try in a environment that doesn’t have sulfur well water!

Purchase? Will try again with the water that I have at home.

Wella EIMI Perfect Me Lightweight Beauty Balm Lotion (sample) – It’s true that it is lightweight. My hair needed more moisture or to use this with something else.

Purchase? No.

MAKEUP

I didn’t do too bad with makeup in July either. I think this was because I didn’t have all my options out and stuck to a few things.

Essence Colour Correcting Stick in Peach – It does a good job of disguising dark spots. I like the convenience of the stick. There’s a faint orange aroma. Only thing I didn’t like was that the cap broke and I worried it would make a mess in my makeup bag.

Repurchase? Maybe. I like it and it’s cheap but right now I’m trying to use something up from MAC.

Maybelline The Colossal Big Shot Tinted Primer – I am so surprised to see negative reviews of this! I had great results and no flaky or irritation. It’s black so you can wear it alone for a very natural look or layer it under stuff for more drama.

Repurchase? Yes.

IT Cosmetics Superhero Mascara (travel size) – This stuff provided very dramatic length for me. Paired with the primer, I could get volume. No issues with this either.

Purchase? Probably not but I liked it. I’m just super cheap with mascara.

Benefit The POREfessional Face Primer (mini) – I’m not one to use primers because I think they are pointless. However, this one does exactly what it claims to do. Pores are temporarily less visible and the skin is more matte.

Purchase? No but that’s because I don’t need something like this.

Total: 40. 19 full-size. 6 deluxe samples/travel. 14 samples.

I really didn’t think I’d empty this much in July. I really don’t remember emptying this much, but then again, I don’t remember much from July! It was a blur.
