I'm really enjoying watching my partner play, partly because it actually makes me feel like I'm kinda good at this game.
You might wonder how he accomplished dying to the first bunch of bandits in the first ruin with a druid and Shadowheart in the party, but it was honestly really inspired: he bottlenecked his party into the doorway, and let the bandits pelt them without any attempt to enter the room, or target anything but the sole barbarian that actually came up to them.
And then he triggered all the traps in the dank crypt.
I genuinely feel like I'm watching some sort of a tpk speedrun, and I'm entertained, though slightly horrified

i woke up this morning and almost immediately went back to bed because pain and in my second sleep, i dreamt that i was with a time-traveling scientist, visiting various points in history to collect water samples to test the bacteria in them. he could also do this cool thing where he opened his coat and it was full of trophies he'd earned for his research. also he looked like the most stereotypical vampire you've ever seen.

Being in a writing workshop with non writers is so interesting because it’s like…truly so many writing teachers’ advice boils down to: you’ll know by the vibes whether something works. Which is, like, not how people who don’t write all day everyday conceptualize things? It’s like when archaeologists tell you to just, like, lick stuff to tell if it’s bone?
And I just, honestly, wish I had @woodswit’s writing info sheets to hand out because they are actually practical? And actually provide an eagles eye view of how to construct a narrative because that is…a super overwhelming mandate actually.

I just bought pads, ibuprofen and chocolate with a male clerk that didn't blink twice. I had no idea that was possible. This was a great experience.

thinking about when I was reading tone indicator discourse for fun and I found one person saying “I prefer emojis to tone indicators, they’re easier for me to interpret” and I found an entirely different unrelated person saying “I can’t BELIEVE anyone would suggest EMOJIS as tone indicators??? they’re FACES everyone knows we (autistic people) can’t read FACES”

Oh yeah so if you've been around here for any length of time you might know I am obsessed with the Halifax Explosion. I got obsessed with that event after reading the Dear Canada book No Safe Harbour: the Halifax Explosion Diary of Charlotte Blackburn anywhere from 8 to 10 years old I was always a history nut as a kid and I found the Dear Canada series in the library and NSH was the first book I read from it and it is still my favourite of all of them (I remember the title and who it's the diary of all the girls are fictional) and I now own it after wanting a copy of it for years. My mom found a listing on marketplace and got them for me also came with Orphan at My Door the homechild diary another favourite and even the Titanic diary which guess what the bodies from the Titanic were brought to Halifax which only 5 years later got levelled besides where the rich people lived(guess which community got decimated the most) in the biggest man made explosion before nukes were a thing (if you guessed the black community you are correct they lived closest to the docks)

EDIT: CHECK MY LATEST ADDITION BEFORE YOU START SHIT IN THE NOTES, THANKS.
warning for discord users
If you're on the app, immediately go to your dms and then "add friends". After the latest update they allow your contacts to find you and have that option turned on by default, so make sure it's unchecked!
This is very obviously not great for a multitude of reasons, but especially for people in vulnerable positions who do not want people in their contacts to see who they are on discord and/or know they have discord in the first place. I've also tried finding out if this is a thing on desktop but haven't been able to find any mention of it, so either it's not a "feature" (yet) or they've hidden it. Either way, stay safe, and turn off finding friends via contacts!

[ID: three screenshots from the discord app with circles around the buttons to press to get to this "feature". 1: the messages/DM button, 2: the "add friends button", 3: in the add friends page, the "allow contacts to add me" checkbox. /END ID]

You know, it's kinda funny how much of high fantasy centers around kings and nobility and courtly intrigue considering that the archetypal high fantasy, Lord of the Rings, had the rather explicit moral of "saving the world is up to this backwater hick and his gardener because no politician, least of all inherited nobility, would have the ability to see past their own ambition and throw away a weapon". Oh sure, Aragorn is a great king and all, but there's a reason he's over there running a distraction ring while the hobbits do the real work. Sauron loses because he gets distracted by kings and armies and great battles (i.e. typical high fantasy stuff) letting Frodo and Sam sneak through his back door and blow it all to hell.
Just saying, maybe old Jirt knew what he was saying when he said that the small folk doing their best and holding to each other was more powerful than a dozen alliances and superweapons and we should respect him for it.
