forgiving yourself and others
this is less of a loa post and more of a personal one. for the sake of this post I will refer to soras life as "i". this is not a cohesive post at all
since things that are happening right now in my family life and personal life that reminded me of some things i said or did in the past i decided to do shadow work
to be honest growing up i was taught to stifle my real personality and go along with what society wants from me because my mother had a mentality that others need to know we are all okay and good in the public eye. This led me to be a perfectionist who can't handle mistakes and wants to please everyone even if it went against what I believed in. Reading back old texts I realised how ashamed I am of who I was back then. I was so stuck in this victim mentality of wanting others to like me that I never asked myself whether I like myself.
I've always wanted to be seen and heard by people. As a desi living in Greece, the most affected minority is us because we are privy to the most migrant attacks. Although I've stopped experiencing racism now due to the law I feel that the "past" me even up to last year was bitter that the desi community wasn't receiving any help by the global media. I always put myself down and that manifested in an outer expression of passive aggression.
To be honest, the past few months have been so transformative for me. I feel completely new and honest. I have a huge time with my own mistakes but have forgiven everyone else in my life and I think that's unfair to me.
Realising that it's okay to make mistakes, it's okay to fuck up, it's okay
I mean even writing this i hate it because I want to ruminate over my mistakes for a lifetime but I've grown so much and I've learned how to be better not only to myself but to others as well.
All I've ever wanted is to make people happy. I'm not saying this because I want to establish a positive image of myself, I genuinely mean it. I have no enemies and all I ever want is to grow as a person and understand different world views and how people operate. My entire life my main goal was to help people because it was never fair how one person could have the world and the other person didn't have a bed to sleep in. All I wanted was for people to be safe and happy. Spending countless nights crying because i felt I couldn't help the world and then I found loa and everything changed. Yet, when I had to stop volunteering and helping refugees from multiple places because of university, I felt like the worst person on earth. If I want to help others, I must first help myself.
Now, I am the most honest I have ever been in my life. LOA helped me a lot because this is exactly what I wanted, to be free. I still have BPD episodes and depressive episodes from time to time but I feel more stable than ever.
Forgive yourself and learn to grow, it's okay. Even though I don't fully believe this yet, I don't feel I deserve this happiness, we are in this journey together. I forgave everyone now it's time to forgive myself.

"Karam": KSHMR's Latest Album is the Best Project in Desi Hip Hop
When global EDM, Trap & Bass pioneer KSHMR, born Niles Hollowell-Dhar, announced his the most anticipated debut Desi hip hop album ‘Karam’, which he took almost 2 years to complete and it breathed fresh air into India’s thriving Hip-Hop scene. While millions of KSHMR’s avid listeners see his album as the biggest rap album of the year in India, for many artists and record producers, ‘Karam’ is the much-needed cultural push which might go down as one of the best Hip-Hop albums in history.
In ever-growing Indian Desi Hip-Hop scene, where every beat tells a story and every rhyme narrates an experience, KSHMR dropped his the most anticipated Desi Hip-Hop album "Karam" on November 3rd, 2023. And I have to say this is not just a musical creation; it's a testament to the enduring power of hip-hop when one SuperProducer wielded with the artists in the scene along with some new and upcoming thriving talented faces for a story to tell.
KSHMR collaborated with many artists those who are the OG faces of DHH like Ikka, Raftaar and Krsna alongwith some new and fresh heavyweight talents brewing up in today's scene like a morning Coffee as such Rawal, HanumanKind and only recurring artist from this album Yashraj who has 3 features in album.
This album is not just a collection of beats; it's a sonic odyssey that navigates like a classic Bollywood crime drama movie from the 90s. Let's embark on a detailed review and breakdown of this masterpiece.
The Prelude: Setting the Movie Tone for an album
"Karam" isn't an album you merely listen to; it's an experience that begins with the very first beat. The album opens a portal into KSHMR's creative movie, where each track is a distinct scene. The tone is set, and the listener is invited into a sonic movie journey that begins with some deep philosophy.
The cover art: The Infinite Ouroboros
Tumblr media
"Karam" album Cover Art
The album cover art of "Karam" is simplistic but it hits the mark. It is perfecty alleigned with name, theme and plot of an album. The whole album talks about the law of karma. In simple words, "The deeds(Karam) you do will turn around and come back to you". This cover art is inspired by one ancient Symbol called "Ouroboros", a circular symbol that depicts a snake or dragon devouring its own tail and that is used especially to represent the eternal cycle of destruction and rebirth.
Tumblr media
The Ouroboros
Tumblr media
The Infinite Ouroboros
Here In this art too, you can see a raging snake like figure eating its own tail in anger and hunger, but here making an infinity symbol instead of a circular representing "The Infinite Ouroboros". Which explains that Karma is an infinite loop. If I'd have to explain this with an example then you can suppose if someone did something bad and hurtful to you, you'll do the same to them, by that, they will do even worse to you and you'll do even worse to them, and this cycle will go on and on and will create an infinite loop of Karma. Remember this example because this same thing happened in the album twice on two different occasions. Colour scheme used in the cover is dark and hauntingly red which also support the plot of the album that you will be experienced, and it also represents that your Karma will always Haunt you no matter what.
This Album is spans for more than 50 minutes. It has totally 24 tracks, 10 Interludes and 14 songs. Now let's dive deep into the album and explore every songs and Interludes with the story of an album itself.
1. The Beginning - Interlude
Album opens with our protagonist as a kid who has an alcoholic and abusive father physically abusing his mother. When he tries to confront him, his father forced to get him out of his home along with his mother. Now that he's homeless, one thing he does that to start aspiring and dreaming for getting out this poor circumstances. Where, the first song of this album "dream"comes into play.
2. Dream (feat. Ikka & Karra)
This is the perfect opening track for the album. It's an upbeat and inspiring song about the power of dreams. The lyrics are simple but effective, and the beat is catchy and uplifting.
In this song, the protagonist is wandering in streets of Mumbai having one dream in his eye that he wants to own this city no matter what situations he has to go through.
Ikka penned his very strong, highly aspiring and gangster vibe giving two verses with impeccable flows, witty rhyme schemes and some awesome references. He talked about being self motivated and driven by dream so blindy that he's not seeing whatever he's doing it's good or bad.
3. The plan - interlude
Our protagonist seems frustrated and exhausted from his low life and decided to do something big, so he planned a robbery with his brother in arms and setting a stage for upcoming song "Bhussi".
4. Bhussi (feat. Seedhe Maut & Karan Kanchan)
This track is a bit darker and more atmospheric. It's about the struggles of everyday life, and the lyrics are raw and honest. The beat is also dark and menacing, but it's also strangely hypnotic.
In this track, Protagonist robs a bank because he was tired of not having money in his life. That's where he first stepped in in a crime and underworld scene of Mumbai.
5. The money - Interlude
The Robbery was successful and now the protagonist has so much money in his hands that he's going to buy that club where his friend was refused to enter before. This interlude a subtle callback to Ikka's one bar "I'll buy that land where I'm not supposed to put my feet".
6. Zero after Zero (feat. KR$NA & Talay Riley)
One of the standout tracks on the album is "Zero After Zero" featuring Krsna and Talay Riley. This song perfectly blends Indian influenced elements, creating a unique and captivating sound. Krsna's powerful and dynamic vocals combined with Talay Riley's smooth and soulful voice add depth and emotion to the track. The production quality of this song is top-notch, with KSHMR's signature attention to detail evident in every aspect of the music.
The only con of this song is also standing out of the plot of an album, because in this track, KR$NA was more talking about his own things and deeds. So this song has zero to next progress in storyline.
7. Upar Hi Upar (feat. Yashraj & Rawal)
It features Yashraj and Rawal, two of the most popular upcoming rappers in India. The song starts with a catchy melodious 808s that is reminiscent of versatile capabilities of KSHMR. The beat then drops, and Yashraj and Rawal start rapping. Their lyrics are about the importance of staying true to your roots and celebrating your culture. They also rap about the power of community and how it can help you achieve your dreams.
In the progress of the storyline, the protagonist is going up and up on his own way achieving everything he had dreamt of one by one.
8. Godfather (feat. Nazzz)
This song is one of a kind when nobody expected to see Nazz feature in KSHMR's album. And where Nazz is and there are no punchlines, it cannot be happened. So this song is so Nazz being Nazz, full of punchlines and hardcore Desi gangta vibe giving.
In this song, the protagonist now at top of his game ruling the underworld of city and becomes a Godfather now.
9. Bhasad - interlude
This interlude makes an appearance of the antagonist of an album, His name is "Raja bhai".
And Raja bhai is not happy with our Protagonist because, he is doing business in territory of Raja bhai. So the antagonist warns him saying that his actions will cost him one day.
10. All fall down (feat. Yashraj, Raja Kumari & Riar Saab)
This very song can be labelled as "Certified Banger". KSHMR went out of realm with his bombarding beat. Raja Kumari dropped the Sickest Hook of the entire Album. So big Props to Raja Kumari for this. Yashraj and Riar Saab dropped their energetic verses talking about everyday normal life of a gangster and then went back and forth at the outro verse. The hook is played 4 times in this song and also main Highlight of this track, because it happens very rare when the chorus outshined the actual verses and that's exactly what happened here.
In progression of storyline, Protagonist's gang has some little feuds and shootings with Raja Bhai's gang, where protagonist lost his few gang members. So protagonist felt like his new empire is falling down.
11. B.I.G. (feat. Harjas & PUNA)
This is a calming and sit-back giving vibe track that showcases the rapper's raw talent and lyrical prowess. The song opens with a catchy low beat that immediately grabs the listener's attention, and Harjas's confident delivery adds to the song's intensity.
The lyrics of "B.I.G." are introspective and thought-provoking, as Harjas raps about his struggles and aspirations. He speaks about overcoming adversity, having maturity and achieving success, and his words are both relatable and inspiring. This song has mixed reviews, low retention value and maybe not favourite song of anyone from this album. Some things just didn't work out in this song. But still, it's a really good song.
Our protagonist seems to have some maturity and realisation about his crime life.
12. La vida (feat. Dabzee & Vedan)
This is the song where KSHMR went into "Despasito" mode and threw a really vibey song with having two south indian rappers which I never heard of them before, rapping in 2 distinct South Indian languages. As I'm not familiar with any south indian languages, i haven't understood anything in this song, and yet I was vibing with it all the way long. This is one those songs where you don't need to worry about lyrics and just vibe with the song.
13. The Girl - interlude
As I said before, this is not just an album, it's a Bollywood movie. And movie is not complete without having a heroine. So here comes a female lead in our story, where the protagonist saw one girl on pathway at night looking for taxi and finds her very attractive.
14. Hath Varthi (feat. MC Stan)
Now that a Girl arrived in the scene, now it's time to hit the club and play a "Club Anthem" of this album which is Harth Varthi. The Best beat production by KSHMR in Karam. And it features MC Stan so you couldn't care less about lyrics. But still he delivered his funky verses where he talked about a girl he's hitting on and about his fame and everything. Overall it's really good song just made for playing in parties.
After seeing that girl, maybe our protagonist hits the club and partied all night.
15. Nasheeli Raat - interlude
That girl he saw at that night now is distracting the protagonist so bad that he can't be seeing anything but her face. He realised that he's in love with her. And what time is it? It's time for a "love song".
16. Mere bina (feat. PropheC & Talha Anjum)
This track is a love song about the importance of staying true to yourself. The lyrics are heartfelt and romantic, and the beat is soft and melodic. Anjum's verse was short but yet so effective. Showing that the protagonist is really serious about this one.
17. The Argument - interlude
In this one, we can see that our protagonist is with that girl and showing her a beach-side luxurious villa which he just bought for her. But the Girl is in concern about his gangster life. She doesn't want to live in a luxury bungalow which is made by rivering bloods. So they both have some arguments about it. In the end the girl asks him to quit his gangster life and said "your gun will take my life one day"
18. Maula (feat. Munawar)
In here, we are seeing a Standup Comedian is rapping about deep and serious things about life. This is an introspective track that showcases Munawar's unique storytelling ability and his raw talent. The song opens with a haunting melody that sets the tone for the track, and Munawar's heartfelt delivery adds to the song's emotional depth.
The lyrics of "Maula" are deeply personal and relatable, as Munawar raps about his struggles with faith, doubt, and the search for meaning in life. He speaks about his struggles with self-acceptance and his search for a higher power, and his words are both honest and vulnerable.
Our protagonist is now thinking about what consequences he will might face in the future if he quit his life now and starts living peacefully with his love interest, he's scared of his past and his karma if ever might hurt her too. So he was praying to God and asking for some help to show him right way.
19. The Call - interlude
Our protagonist was spending happy times with the girl when he gets a call from his sidekick friend who went to have some deal in Raja Bhai's area without even telling our protagonist. The deal Turned out as a trap of Raja Bhai where he shot dead the Protagonist's friend and he died on call. We can see the protagonist crying and screaming in pain on the other side.
20. Khoya sab (feat. Yungsta & Lisa Mishra)
Now that our protagonist lost his friend and second in command of his gang, he's feeling like he lost everything and everything is falling apart around him. It's perfect time for a sad song.
This is really powerful track filled with full of emotions that showcases Yungsta and Lisa Mishra's unique talents. Opening with a haunting beat and captivating lyrics, the song immediately draws the listener into its world of introspection and self-discovery. Yungsta's verses are filled with raw emotion and honesty, while Lisa Mishra's soothing voice provides a counterbalance, adding depth, resonance and melancholy to the song.
The lyrics of 'Khoya Sab' explore themes of loss, regret, and the search for meaning in life, with Yungsta and Lisa Mishra sharing their personal experiences and struggles. The song's title translates to 'Lost Everything', reflecting the feeling of being adrift and searching for a sense of purpose.
Considering the best track from this album, it's many people's the most favourite song. Overall, this is very impacting and moving song that will leave a lasting impression on the listener. It's a must-listen for fans of hip-hop and anyone who has experienced the depths of loss and the search for meaning in life.
21. The Revenge - interlude
Now our protagonist is all set to take revenge of his friend's death from Raja Bhai. He's well prepared for going on to full pledged gang war.
22. Enemies (feat. HanumanKind & Yashraj)
This is a "Gym Song" energetic track that showcases the raw talent and lyrical prowess of HanumanKind and Yashraj. The song opens with a hard-hitting beat that immediately grabs the listener's attention, and the confident delivery of HanumanKind and Yashraj adds to the song's intensity.
HanumanKind and Yashraj deliver their lyrics with a confidence that is both impressive and captivating. They command the listener's attention and make their words resonate.
This song gives you a feeling of action packed fight scenes from movie playing BGM exactly like this.
In the long outro, our protagonist seems like winning the war but he's injured, filled with bullet holes and slowly dying.
23. Legacy (feat. Raftaar)
Now that our protagonist is dead, it's time to talk to the legacy he sets. This is a tribute giving and motivational track that serves as a fitting finale to KSHMR's album "Karam". The song opens with a soaring melody that immediately sets the tone for Raftaar's inspiring lyrics. The song's production is top-notch, with a blend of drill elements that perfectly complement Raftaar's confident delivery.
Raftaar's lyrics in "Legacy" are both personal and universal, as he reflects on his own experiences and aspirations while also offering words of encouragement to others. He speaks about the importance of hard work and dedication, the power of dreams, and the legacy that one can leave behind. His words are both relatable and inspiring, and they are sure to resonate with listeners who are striving to achieve their own goals.
The production of "Legacy" is equally impressive, with a beat that is both driving and uplifting. The song's overall sound is polished and professional, and it perfectly complements Raftaar's message of perseverance and success.
Overall, "Legacy" is a perfect finale closing album track on "Karam". It is sure to made to inspire listeners to chase their dreams and leave their own mark on the world.
24. The end - interlude
The narrator voice says "in this life full of ups and downs, you finally get to your end, and nothing else comes with you except your Karam"
Conclusion
Overall, "Karam" is a must-listen album for fans of both electronic music and hip hop. It is a well-produced album with a star-studded lineup of artists and a variety of different styles. The album is also a celebration of Indian culture and the power of dreams. KSHMR really have done something never like before in Desi Hip-Hop scene. Undeniablly, the best project of 2023.
So, if you're looking for an album that is both upbeat and inspiring, then I highly recommend checking out "Karam" by KSHMR. It's an album that will stay with you long, maybe for entire lifetime after you've finished listening to it.
Peace out, and see you next time!

can i say that i really don't understand why everyone is so vehemently intent to criticize the fact that kim calls elders by their name? i understand it's not really a thing but isn't the entire point that kim has grown largely removed from any kind of pakistani community, so she's adopted the practices of those around her instead? it's incredibly common for americans here to refer to adults by name once they're adults themselves. and even then if it still isn't believable i think it's absolutely ridiculous people are eager to write off the whole drama merely bc kim is unconventional when it comes to a few things. we're so obsessed with maintaining this "ideal" diaspora image that we can't even invest in a drama for more than two episodes to see what it has to say. not to mention diaspora pakistanis are hardly a monolith. i'm not an ideal diaspora pakistani myself. i'm not a pti supporter, i don't really hold a lot of nationalist sentiment, i talk freely with and openly challenge my parents. if i wrote a story about myself would that be unrealistic too? people have got to start questioning the things that make them stop watching dramas and the things that don't. they're more willing to field abuse narratives bc at the least it's "realistic" and familiar than they are willing to field anything out of the ordinary simply bc it doesn't speak to their direct experiences. what a load of nonsense
gaah i wish i had better technical knowledge to name the right terms and not just the concept which would give my answer brevity but alas, i am forever cursed to type in long winded paragraphs so pls bear with me here T_T
i just feel that the Pakistani desi audience, diaspora and non, have a very..strenuous relationship with identity. we don't HAVE an identity. in the larger global political landscape, Pakistan doesn't really stand apart. not our food, not our clothing, not the cultures of our country; there's nothing that can be credited to being solely originated from here. the food we take pride in on the global level is attributed to India. same goes for our clothing. when we try to own something as our own, there's someone else standing up to take claim ke jee actuallyyyyy this is originated from our land so please back off. there's a reason why Ertrugrul, a Turkish dizi about a historical figure of the Ottomon Empire's time, became a rage in Pakistan to the point of being promoted by our then-PM because Pakistan, a country that supposedly got its freedom on the basis of the religion Islam, doesn't even have one single "perfect" Muslim figure that they can own. we are constitutionally an Islamic country but the state of the religion and its interpretation in the country is pathetic to say the least.
hum kaun hain? humein nahin pata. we are something else in our heads and completely something different in reality. and the two versions don't match. this conflict becomes most apparent when interpreting the stories of our dramas. the good, perfect, ideal mashriqi character satisfy the perfect version in our heads. the modern, flawed character is seen as an attack on our "values" and hence banned. ironically BOTH these kind of characters are defended as "aise log hote hain dunya mein! Maine khud dekhe hain!" so what's the reality here?
and because we don't even HAVE an identity to speak of so we have yet to ACCEPT the fact that yes, people are different. and because people are different, CHARACTERS will be different too. just because these characters don't look and sound like ME doesn't mean they are a bad representation or unrealistic characters. they are not my mirror, doesn't mean they don't reflect anyone. have you noticed how in Pakistani media we don't really get characters that are defined by their background? like their cities are almost always deliberately kept ambiguous? at most you'll get the Karachi vs Lahore vs Islamabad debate and the characters hailing from only these particular backgrounds will have any kind of obviously noticed traits. but what about countless other areas of the country?
In Indian media you'll see characters being known by their cities and immediately all of their idiosyncrasies are accepted ke haan, they are from this particular area toh they gonna be different. yes, this gives rise to stereotypes BUT there's also an acceptance of the characters as they are hence, allowing them to be explored as individuals and not just a perfect representation of whatever place they hail from. in Pakistani media you don't have that. because our media, in dramas specifically, EMPHASIZES on the entire culture and identity of our country as BEING homogeneous. and anyone who is even remotely related to this identity HAS to act in accordance of the rules and mores of this society or be rejected.
which brings us to Kim. Kim hasn't been accepted by the audience because of her father's Pakistani origins. Kim herself is a true American, she never set foot in Pakistan before the start of the drama. in fact if not for her mother's upbringing, Kim wouldn't even have learned her parents' mother tongue. the tragedy with Kim is that the writer couldn't give her either accurate American traits not accurate Pakistani traits so she's stuck in between. Pakistani audience cannot accept her as their own, the diaspora audience cannot accept her as their own. everything else becomes secondary because Kim DARES to have an IDENTITY that cannot be neatly boxed. She's just Kaneez "Kim" Fatima.
the failure to understand that for the story of Yunhi to work, Kim HAD to have selective traits from the liberal west and the conservative east is really most because Kim serves as a reminder of our own lack of solid identity. the fact that if she tried to she could fit in either of these opposing societies is what baffles people. how could she? you are either east or west. you cannot be separated from either of these like Kim.
on one hand social media is exposing us to inter-racial relationships or transnational relationships (yes, even amongst Muslims) making us aware of how people can choose to make their own world that combines the two worlds from which they belong. on the other hand we as a society are still having generational fights over "ji hamare yahan toh yeh ritual aisa hota hai hum aapke tareeqe ko nahin maante". the little bit of sense of identity that we do have, we cling to it desperately and want to defend it from inauthentic people like Kim in media that challenge our notions of identity. Kim can say a 10000 right things but because one of the most prominent feature of our society is that we always address all elders with a title of respect, Kim not doing that makes her an outsider. but she's worse than an outsider, she's a traitor to her Pakistani identity. which...she never claimed to be in the first place??
I can bet if Maya had perfected the New York accent and that reflected even in her Urdu dialogues, the criticism about her calling the elders by the name wouldn't have been that much. it'd have been "cute" then kyunke identity toh hamari hai nahin, complexes toh MaShaAllah bohat zyada hai. angrezi ke talway chaatna toh hum lagta hai Ammi ke pait se seekh ke aate hain. khair. Kim doesn't attach respect to titles but to people. sure, she calls her MiL by her first name but has she ever disrespected her. I thought that was one of the POINTS™ the show was making that just being ADDRESSED with a title of respect is not enough when our individual identity is denied and disrespected on every chance. is it really that deep jo samajh mein nahin araha hai ab tak?
urrgh this is running long and I think i lost the thread of sense long ago but just one last thing! it's been 30 episodes now, right? and until now Kim hasn't CHANGED in appearance. and the desi diaspora is OBSESSED with appearances. sahi dikho, sahi bolo; dil bhale jaisa bhi ho. be politically correct, be diplomatic. make your intentions as crude as possible but never let your language reflect that. cuz that is all we have to offer. the Pakistani diaspora, in all these years, hasn't produced much of progressive mindsets or done anything to own their identity. toh sabko chupa lo carpet ke neeche..keep your head down, say the right things, and just hope we'll be ignored. apni dunya mein mast raho bass.

Hi TT, hope you are well. I want to share something personal and ask you for your thoughts about it. I grew up in a lower middle class family where money was always short and our family life revolted around it. Now, I cannot bring myself to have kids and subject them to the same kind of life that I had. Although I am employed, but I am certain that I will not be able to bring up a child, forcing myself or my child to compromise on everything due to money. My parents do not understand my views
(Continued): They feel children should learn to adjust from their childhood to grow up to become model adults. I regard their thoughts with respect, but times have changed. So has inflation, society, peer pressure and find it very unfair to children who have no control over who they are born to. In a country like India, where children still live with parents( at least in the small town that I hail from), I cannot imagine slogging away my life for kids. This may make me sound self centered (Continued 2): but I value my current life, which is free from child related drama. I have a million other problems to handle day in and day out. Bring emotionally pressurised everyday is doing more harm than good. How do you suggest I navigate through this situation as talking out openly has been a gateway to tears and arguments. Not solutions. Would love to know your thoughts. TIA.
Dearest anon,
First of all, biggggggg hugs. I completely understand and empathize with you. Although my own parents have always been accepting of my decision to be childfree, the societal pressure to procreate is so fucking insane, especially in our desi circles. Like, I just went to do my dad's shraadh a few days ago, and the priest spent a good 5 min talking about how you NEED TO and absolutely MUST be blessed with kids to do this ceremony for you once you pass, and I was just like......... "Welppppp guess imma be haunting bitches up in here forever then........" 🥴🥴🥴
No but jokes aside, good on you for reflecting on your past, being aware of what you want in the future, and coming to this decision. First of all, even if you did make the decision in a "selfish" manner, I don't think there's a single thing wrong with it. You have the right to build an adult life as you see best for yourself. If you don't see children contributing any value to your life, then you shouldn't have them. It's absolutely ridiculous how we have to live until 18 as our parents say (down to being pushed into fields of study and careers that we don't want), and then spend even more of our adult lives catering to the arbitrary whims of these elders as well. At what point in this never-ending cycle do we get to live the life WE want for ourselves? So yeah, go ahead and BE CONFIDENT IN YOUR SELFISHNESS. You made it this far in life based on your self preservation instincts, and you'll be fine in the future as well. If protecting your boundaries is called being "selfish", then so be it. In the immortal words of Bhai....
Secondly, it's not self centered AT ALL - you sound very conscious of the meaning of a quality life, and what it means in the current global circumstances; you are not willing to risk dooming a potential life to an uncertain future, and that in itself is very considerate. So is the fact that you're not just having kids as an "insurance policy" for being taken care of in your later years.
The analogy I always use to make reasonable people who are willing to have a good faith discussion is that it's very much like insisting someone adopt an unwieldy pet like... A HORSE, or a fucking LEOPARD, or something. Like sure, there are people who do it, and they're happy to be living that life, good for them. But can you blame someone for not wanting something that is such a huge emotional and financial and time investment in the middle of their daily lives while just trying to survive in whatever clusterfuck existence??? You need a lot of special skills and commitment to ensure they live their best lives (and isn't that the reason to do this in the first place? To give it a good life?) and not everyone wants to do it. And that's a perfectly reasonable opinion to have. One could argue that such neglect would hurt human children much more than they would animals, and isn't that all the more reason to ensure that you don't birth them until you are 100% you are willing to put in the work?
But I suspect your parents aren't really willing to listen to your logic, and are reacting from an extremely emotional place instead. There's no real point talking to someone who isn't receptive to what you're saying. It's like pouring water onto a glass that's turned bottom up; all your time and effort is just for naught. My best advice to you would be to just stay absolutely steadfast on your decision. If they insist on discussing this, tell them this is between you and your future life partner to decide. Just say that and shut down the conversation and refuse to entertain it any further. And make sure if/when you do decide to make a long-term commitment to a partner, that they are on the exact same page about this matter. Tell them this is one of your non-negotiables, and that you'll commit to the relationship only if this is agreed upon. Once you and your partner have joined forces, there's nothing anyone else can really do about it. Eventually, they'll just have to make their peace with it and move on.
I know this current period of strife is stressful to you, but hang in there, love. It will eventually get better. I'm sending you lots and lots of love and support, and am always here to cheer you on. 🤗🤗🤗

I grew up in the 2000s consuming the desi pop culture, and now ever since the globalization has truly affected me I always feel so clueless 🤣😭
I don't know what Grease is, or which character he dressed up as I had no clue who Dorothy was and there are many more things I don't know about. I feel so out of place lmao
But it's funny as well, like sir I have never watched Wizards of Oz, or Bambi or other movies you keep talking about, I only know and care about retro Bollywood.
Marilyn Monroe? With all due respect sorry, I only know about Madhubala. Julia Roberts? Sorry, I prefer Sridevi or Madhuri. Elton John? Who? I only care about Lucky Ali. The Notebook? Sorry for me it's all about Veer Zara? Shania Twain? Sorry, I only know about Alka Yagnik 🥲🤣
P.S- I love knowing more about different cultures ❤️ you all clearly had a very different childhood
hun i think it's more that you're a whole different generation than a regional thing. like most ppl born in the 00s have zero to very little knowledge of some cult classics from when i was growing up. cuz trust me growing up in post communist europe made western things very difficultly accessible for us
it's not too late to pick up on the cult classics, even though you said you preferred autochthonous media, i feel like most of the "western" stuff is truly meritorious

★ Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan, Salman Khan's Tiger, Hrithik Roshan's Kabir: YRF spy-verse and the burden of superstardom!
January 28, 2023
To establish a multiverse of super-spies, YRF’s big challenge would be to rid the films in question of starry image trap.
Salman Khan as Tiger practically drops from the sky to bail out Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan during a spectacular action set-piece, and fans can’t get enough. The highlight scene in SRK’s new starrer Pathaanends with a disclosure from Tiger that literally brings the house down: He’ll be back in some time for a major mission, Tiger tells Pathaan, and he’ll need Pathaan’s help then. The obvious reference is to Salman Khan’s yet-untitled upcoming Tiger 3, and the promise of SRK’s character Pathaan featuring in that film is exciting enough for fans of both superstars.
There’s more in SRK’s new film that suggests Yash Raj Films are clearly opening up the scope for a Bollywood multiverse of spy thrillers. There is mention more than once of Hrithik Roshan’s agent Kabir from the banner’s 2019 blockbuster War. Ashutosh Rana, who played the RAW handler Colonel Luthra in War, returns to reprise his desi Nick Fury avatar in Pathaan. Katrina Kaif’s Zoya from the Tiger series crops up in a conversation, too.
A spy-verse’ flaunting the Bollywood cream — with space to add many more characters and, in turn, more saleable stars — would seem like a lucrative idea for YRF, and in sync with the global fad of combining two or more films or film franchises to form a fictional cinematic universe. A common ‘Thanos’ for all these Bollywood superheroes in a pop patriotic setup would invariably be the subject of terrorism, which always provides reason to engage in VFX-rich action gala and never fails to heighten fan frenzy if marketed the right way. The box office run of these films has so far been good for YRF. Salman Khan’s first Tiger adventure Ek Tha Tiger, released in 2012, collected over Rs 334 crore globally according to the trade website Bollywood Hungama, and ended up biggest Hindi hit of the year. The film’s sequel Tiger Zinda Hai raked in over Rs 564 crore worldwide in 2017. The Hrithik Roshan-starrer War was the biggest Bollywood film of 2019 with a global intake of Rs 475.5 crore. Pathaan, after opening with a haul of over Rs 50 crore on a non-festive, mid-week day one, is predicted to touch the Rs 200crore-mark in its opening weekend, at the time of writing.
That’s well-begun for YRF’s spy-verse, but the real challenge would start now. In Bollywood, where screen image towers over all, it could become difficult sustaining a cutting-edge spy thriller multiverse starring male superstars whose priorities will always be sticking to the safety zone of what sells. Every one of our top stars tends to play out the same tricks film after film, year after year for decades, invariably falling into the trap of repeating what worked once.
Amusingly, therefore, an actor’s body of work, seen in retrospect over a period of time, starts appearing like a franchise in itself, of similar roles. One could argue Shah Rukh Khan has radically moved over to a mass-oriented turf with Pathaan, an over-the-top extravaganza loaded with played-to-gallery violence and drama. Look closely, though, and the actor is only essaying an amped-up version of his signature screen persona as Pathaan. Most of the popular antics and expressions that made him a superstar have cleverly been written into the film. Given the film’s phenomenal opening figures, it seems to be working in his first mass market espionage adventure. Can such a departure from set image work for the superstar every time?
The truth is Bollywood’s deshbhakt secret agents— whether it is Pathaan, Tiger or Kabir — has to be written in a way they fit the respective superstar’s style and image. Salman Khan’s Tiger, for example, is wholly created to accommodate the actor’s trademark deadpan screen disposition just as Hrithik’s superspy Kabir has to be a dashing machoman who can dance, like almost all his other roles. Writers at YRF might well run out inspiration for fresh ideas after the first few films of the spy-verse.
Then there’s the problem of content, too. Screenplays for spy sagas in Bollywood are almost invariably centred on a couple of themes —cross-border terror infiltrating from Pakistan and a sinister plot to wreak havoc on our country. While these themes never fail to interest fans, they don’t work anymore unless given an original twist. Pathaan actually banks on both these themes, to weave a threadbare storyline that stays predictable despite the narrative’s rapid pace. The fact is the film has garnered hype not because of a clever story but because SRK makes a comeback in a lavish action package.
The fact is our spy flicks have started looking the same, too. In the case of Pathaan, the obvious reason could be it is directed by War helmer Siddharth Anand. But then, War, too, looked like sundry Hollywood espionage thrillers. The treatment an average Bollywood spy film gets is an overdose of elements bearing influence of Mission: Impossible and the James Bond films, with Jason Bourne basics thrown in.
For YRF, the plus point is Bollywood fans have been opening up to the multiverse concept over the years ever since the Hollywood comic-verse, particularly MCU, found mass market here in dubbed languages. The spy-verse as a box office experimentation would appear to be well-timed for as of now fans are primed for such crossover franchising. Over the past years we have had Rohit Shetty setting the tone with his cop-verse hits. Ajay Devgn’s Singham films were followed by Ranveer Singh in and as Simmba, and the two actors played out their roles as cameos in the Akshay Kumar-starrer Sooryavanshi. Shetty has indicated such cross-franchising will be a regular feature for his cop hero films. Last year’s biggest news in Bollywood was the launch of Karan Johar’s‘ Astraverse’ with Brahmastra. Elsewhere, Dinesh Vijan initiated a horror-comedy franchising effort after Stree, with Roohi and Bhediya. While Rohit Shetty has struck gold each time so far, the box office outcome for the others has been mixed. If YRF are to establish their spy-verse, their stakes would seem much higher given the massive hype their superstar secret agents command.

Exploring the Global Appeal of Indian Gastronomy
Still searching for a veg Indian restaurant near me on your browser? Well, the relevance and significance of Indian eateries has grown significantly as more and more Indians have begun relocating to different regions of the world for jobs or education. The authentic and desi eateries allow people to maintain ties to their ethnicity and native country while making them feel closer to home, even if they may be thousands of miles away. Sangam Chettinad Indian Cuisine & Bar is a hit spot in Austin for Indian food lovers, drawing in locals and expats alike.
Why Get Your Desi Taste Buds Started Overseas?
Relocating or traveling abroad is a big undertaking, particularly if you are from a multicultural nation like India. Every Indian state has a signature dish, and even the cities have varying preferences. Therefore, Indian cuisine is quite varied, and it becomes extremely hard for Indians to relocate outside without access to these cuisines, spices, and herbs. However, why should someone eat Indian food overseas rather than local cuisine when visiting a new place?
Here are some reasons to taste Indian food at restaurants even while traveling:
Savour a Unique Selection of Ingredients
Everyone enjoys consuming food when it suits their tastes and preferences. Indians love their meals to be quite spicy and herbaceous, and cheese and baked bread just do not cut it sometimes. So, an Indian restaurant always considers the ingredients carefully before preparing a dish because even basic components like onion and garlic might cause problems for desi food enthusiasts.
Best Alternatives for Vegetarians and Vegans
You might have fewer vegetarian options when visiting overseas, unlike meat lovers. But cheese and bread do not always cut the cravings. So, finding a vegetarian Indian restaurant abroad that serves delicious vegetarian food that is not just salad could be your best call. Indian restaurants excel at satisfying vegan and vegetarian tastes with delicious dishes, like the tasty South Indian dosa.
Make a Healthier Choice!
Most tourists have noticed over time that eating Indian food has health advantages due to the simple yet flavourful cooking techniques employed by the chefs. Indian meals, such as a classic plate of Upma, are full of healthful herbs and spices that offer the food a great taste and make it far more nutrient-dense, vitamin-and mineral-rich, and healthier.
The Touch of Traditional Spices
Every Indian chef is familiar with authentic spices. A dish's flavor varies greatly depending on the spices and cooking methods. The improvised recipes passed down from generation to generation are periodically improved, making every meal different and delicious. As much as Indians enjoy eating other cuisines, like Chinese and Thai, nothing compares to the flavor of perfectly cooked Indian food prepared with love and a tonne of delectable spices. So, why not savor it in a veg Indian restaurant near you?
Make Your Mouth Water With the Best Flavors Today!
Indian food is the pinnacle of taste and culture. Eating traditionally prepared meals with the finest ingredients allows one to experience India the best. As an Indian restaurant in Austin, Sangam Chettinad Indian Cuisine & Bar offers visitors sampling Indian food overseas in the best setting and cuisine possible. We help you expand your food palate and enhance it by indulging in a range of our delectable South Indian meals made with only the finest ingredients and genuine spices. Ready to savor? Indian Foot Prints in Digital Applications || NeoDrafts
Indian Foot Prints in Digital Application. The Government of India’s decision of banning applications based in China does not come as a surprising news. The growing anti-China sentiment and Prime Minister of India’s call towards self-sustainability of India as a nation maybe the reasons behind this step. And it cannot come at a more right time, what with the India-China border dispute at the forefront.
The Government of India has taken its stand. So, how we, the people of the nation can support the cause of a self-sufficient nation. Here we discuss the best Indian alternatives to the existing apps irrespective of their origin.
Indian applications have always been overshadowed by apps from other countries for the lack of global outreach. But Desi apps, as we refer to them, are not in lag in quality nor in user experience;
1.ShareChat: The Indian app that gives the same glee as Tik-tok but in no way is a copycat, Sharechat is much more. A no-english app which is available in more than 10 Indian languages, we can share jokes, GIF, audio, quotes and videos. With the risk of data security associated with tik-tok, Sharechat is the best alternative.
2.Epicweb Browser: With UC Browser accused of data privacy issues and now the ban, epic web browser can be seen as best internet browser of indian origin. An in built virus protection gives this browser a cutting edge over other browsers.
3.ShareAll: Inappropriate content and concerns over data privacy have always been a matter of extreme sensitivity with the Shareit app. Like its alternative Shareit, ShareAll supports transfer of any files even without internet access or cables.
4.JioMeet and Say Namaste: Zoom, the chines group calling or meeting app gained extensive popularity during the times of the corona crisis, but has been accused of slack in data privacy. Re-routing call through a china based server added an authenticity to this accusation. To protect ourselves from this breach of security, Jio has come up with Jiomeet. And Say Namaste has all the requirement to hold important conferences.
5.Hike: This is a messenger app, similar to whatsapp with the better feature of permitting communication even through SMS. A great concept that is slowly catering to the cultural and class diversity in India.
The above are but some apps that are already gaining popularity with the millennials. As we have ascertained, the made in India applications have more connect culturally to the people of India. All they lack is the global unification and understandably so, since their aim has been to cater Indian audience. With the concerns in data privacy and security over the market dominated by Chinese applications, the potential of “Desi apps” have to be realized and embraced by the society.
Employment, advancement as well as increase in GDP can be achieved all at once with this one step. Instead of being swept up in the tide of mass acknowledgment of apps made popular by sheer advertisement and numbers, let’s check out the more authentic and democratic apps that are susceptible to questioning at any breach of privacy and security.

Hi, not a request, just popping in to like...vent? I guess. I'm not a Desi atiny so my opinion isn't really important here in the grand scheme but I am feeling bad because the situation is so sucky. I feel for our Desi friends because, as a black person, this situation has happened countless times. Desi atinys deserve several apologies and it's up to them whether those suffice or not.
But at the same time, I'm so tired, you know? Like sick and tired of being sick and tired? I just want to like a group and be able to stan them no problems but, inevitably, that becomes impossible and then I end up feeling guilty for liking them, or being upset, or even not wanting to be upset because I'm just tired of it all.
I guess I just wanted to know how you were feeling.
Of course, feel free not to answer this if you don't feel like it.
Have a good day.
Friend, Idk how I didn't see this ask, but dw!
And yes, they deserve apologies! I hate that this happened, it's legitimately one of the worst feelings in the world when something like this happens, especially from a supposed to be safe space for, and I hope they get the apology, and corrected behavior, that they deserve! And songs like that should be banned anyway, cause literally what the hell possessed the creator to make it in the first place 🤨?
I know how you feel though. I have been in that place where you feel guilty for liking a group, and being tired of the consistent disappointment somewhere. It was one reason I fell out of some groups, because it's like, you don't feel safe, valued, nor seen, and it's like when does it stop, yk? Like, certain groups I interact with from a distance, because I don't hate them, I just didn't feel like I was welcome.
As for how I feel, I was, and am, very disappointed. It hasn't affected me as badly as it would have though, because I think I kind of detach very easily, and tend to only interact with certain content for my own mental health; like, I know they're Ateez, and are known for being less/unproblematic, but I also constantly remind myself that they, and others, probably didn't always harbor the more open ideals and attitudes that they show us, and won't be unproblematic forever.
I try to think of it like "would they be so open if they were just normal people living in Korea" or would they be less ashamed of/feel the need to apologize if they weren't in the limelight, etc. That's not to say they aren't open minded and willing to learn in their daily/personal lives, (and they SHOULD be, seeing as they have a global fan base and know that other cultures exist around the world), but I try and make myself remember that they WILL mess up at some point so I'm not as hurt by their actions, (not that they're right, nor am I excusing the behavior), but especially with being taught that it's okay all your life and living in a homogeneous country with no one of a different ethnicity actively saying "that's not right, this is disrespectful" etc.
But not researching or thinking about how it might affect the people that watch you, look up to you, and support you is definitely something they shouldn't have done. Whether in the public eye or not, they should learn (especially now), apologize, and grow from their mistakes; and I also really hope that they do the right thing and give Desi Atiny the apology they deserve!
(I hope this ramble made sense, it's late and I need to sleep)

Desi Toys Founder
Desi Toys is a brand that specializes in ancient and classical toys. Founded in 2018 by Swapna Wagh, the company seeks to bring back traditional toys that have been lost in the age of technology.
Swapna's passion for these toys began during her childhood in India, where she grew up playing with handmade toys made from natural materials. In this article, we will explore the story behind Desi Toys and its founder, as well as the products they offer, their mission, and their impact on society.
The Early Life of Swapna Wagh
Swapna Wagh was born and raised in Pune, India. Growing up, she was always fascinated by traditional toys that were handmade by local artisans. She would spend hours playing with wooden tops, clay figurines, and paper windmills.
These toys were not only fun to play with, but they were also eco-friendly and sustainable. Swapna's love for these toys continued into adulthood, and she began collecting them from different parts of India.
The Inspiration Behind Desi Toys
In 2018, Swapna Wagh had the idea to start Desi Toys Shark Tank. She saw how technology was taking over children's playtime and wanted to provide an alternative. She realized that the traditional toys she grew up playing with were disappearing from the market and wanted to revive them.
Swapna saw an opportunity to not only bring back these toys but also to create a brand that would support local artisans and promote sustainable practices.
One of the unique aspects of Desi Toys is that they are not only making traditional toys available to children but also to adults.
Their products are not just for kids but for anyone who appreciates the beauty and craftsmanship of these ancient and classical toys. These toys not only have sentimental value but are also aesthetically pleasing and can be used as decorative pieces in homes.
Another noteworthy feature of Desi Toys is its commitment to sustainability. The toys are made from natural materials like wood, clay, and paper, which are renewable and biodegradable. The company also uses eco-friendly packaging and shipping materials to minimize waste. By promoting sustainable practices, Desi Toys is contributing to a cleaner and greener planet.
Desi Toys has also been recognized for their efforts in promoting traditional toys and sustainable practices. The company has won several awards and accolades, including the Best Social Enterprise Award at the Global Youth Awards 2020 and the Best Eco-Friendly Toy Brand Award at the World Toy Awards 2021.
These awards not only recognize the company's achievements but also encourage them to continue its mission of promoting traditional and sustainable toys.
Looking ahead, Desi Toys plans to continue expanding its product line and reach more customers globally. The company aims to collaborate with more local artisans and introduce new traditional toys to its collection.
Desi Toys' Product Line
Desi Toys offers a wide range of ancient and classical toys, including wooden tops, clay figurines, paper windmills, spinning tops, and much more. Each toy is made by skilled artisans using natural materials like wood, clay, and paper.
The toys are designed to promote creativity, imagination, and problem-solving skills in children. They are also eco-friendly and sustainable, which aligns with Desi Toys' mission of promoting a more sustainable future.
Another challenge that Desi Toys faced was the lack of awareness and availability of traditional toys in the market. To overcome this, the company has used social media and e-commerce platforms to reach a wider audience and make its products accessible to customers around the world.
They have also partnered with local stores and museums to showcase their products and raise awareness about traditional toys.
Desi Toys has also faced competition from larger toy manufacturers who have entered the sustainable toy market. However, the company believes that its focus on preserving traditional crafts and supporting local artisans gives them a unique advantage over its competitors.
They continue to innovate and introduce new products that showcase the beauty and versatility of traditional toys.
The COVID-19 pandemic posed a new set of challenges for Desi Toys, as it disrupted supply chains and forced many businesses to shut down. However, the company adapted quickly by launching new products and expanding its e-commerce platform.
They also continued to support their local artisans by providing them with steady work and financial assistance during difficult times.
Despite the challenges, Desi Toys has remained committed to its mission of promoting traditional toys and sustainable practices. The company's success has not only benefited its customers and local artisans but also the wider community.
By promoting sustainable practices and preserving traditional crafts, Desi Toys is contributing to the cultural and environmental well-being of society.
Desi Toys' Mission
Desi Toys' mission is to promote traditional and sustainable toys that are not only fun to play with but also have a positive impact on society. The company aims to provide an alternative to the mass-produced, plastic toys that dominate the market. By supporting local artisans and promoting sustainable practices, Desi Toys hopes to create a more sustainable future for generations to come.
The company also aims to educate people about the importance of traditional toys and their role in promoting creativity, imagination, and problem-solving skills.
Desi Toys' Impact on Society
Desi Toys has had a positive impact on society in several ways. First, the company supports local artisans by providing them with a platform to showcase their skills and sell their products. This helps to preserve traditional crafts that have been passed down through generations.
Second, the company promotes sustainable practices by using natural materials and minimizing waste.
This helps to reduce the environmental impact of toy production. Finally, Desi Toys promotes creativity, imagination, and problem-solving skills in children, which are essential for their development.
The Future of Desi Toys
Desi Toys has a bright future ahead. As more people become aware of the negative impact of plastic toys and the benefits of traditional toys, the demand for Desi Toys' products will continue to grow. The company plans to expand its product line and reach more customers both in India and around the world.
By promoting sustainable practices and supporting local artisans, Desi Toys is making a positive impact on society and creating a more sustainable future.
They also plan to increase their presence in the international market and promote traditional Indian toys worldwide. As the demand for sustainable and traditional toys grows, Desi Toys is well-positioned to lead the way and make a positive impact on society.
One of the challenges that Desi Toys faced in its early days was the perception that traditional toys were outdated and inferior to modern, mass-produced toys. To address this, the company has focused on promoting the benefits of traditional toys and educating customers about their cultural and historical significance.
They have also emphasized the value of sustainable practices and the importance of supporting local artisans and businesses.
Conclusion
Desi Toys is a brand that is making a positive impact on society by promoting traditional toys and sustainable practices. The company's founder, Swapna Wagh, has a passion for these toys that began during her childhood in India. By creating a brand that supports local artisans and promotes sustainable practices,
Desi Toys is not only providing an alternative to the mass-produced, plastic toys that dominate the market, but it is also helping to preserve traditional crafts that have been passed down through generations. Additionally, by promoting creativity, imagination, and problem-solving skills in children, Desi Toys is contributing to their development and shaping the future generation.

An insight into popular Indian desserts that feature ghee
Indian desserts are now popular globally, for their rich yet innovative flavors. Many of these amazing desserts and sweet treats feature ghee. Ghee is a type of clarified butter. It is rich in both taste and texture, and has a nutty flavor. You can easily buy pure ghee in Australia now, and whip up the most popular Indian desserts like gajar ka halwa.  This rich and creamy is made from grated carrots that are cooked in milk, Ghee, and sugar. To enjoy its perfect taste, you must lace it with cardamom and garnish it with roasted nuts. People who don’t usually eat carrots also can’t help but fall in love with dessert.
If you have any festival or special event coming up in the near future, then you can always opt to buy Ghee in Australia and try to prepare laddus at your home. After all, it is one of the biggest highlights of many Indian festivities. Laddus usually feature a good amount of ghee, and has quite a rich taste. The core ingredients for the laddu, however, would entirely depend on you and your preferences. Some people like besan laddus, while others are fond of laddus made of bundi. You may even research multiple recipes online to identify the one that is the most feasible for you.  On the web, you will find details of many more desserts that can be made with Desi ghee, starting from Mysore Pak to Badusha.
