Chapter 1: Concert
“What’s that bright light coming from the park?” Chat Noir asked, perching himself on the edge of the roof and observed the scene below, “I know there are street lights down there, but they’re not usually that bright.”
Ladybug moved next to him. “Well, I did see some workers setting up for a wedding earlier today.”
“A wedding? How do you know?”
“My fam…uh,” she cleared her throat, “I mean, my favorite bakery is catering the event this weekend.”
“Oh.”
“But the workers finished hours ago, and I don’t see any people down there right now. I know that they put one of those temporary chain-link fences around the venue, but we should probably go check it out anyway. I doubt it’s an Akuma, but maybe they accidentally left something running?”
“Sounds good, my lady. Lead the way.”
The duo leaped off of the rooftop and landed gracefully inside the fenced-off area. Ladybug dove behind a bush and gestured for him to come. Chat quickly joined her behind the foliage and peered over the leaves. After a few minutes of observation, they both came to the conclusion that they were alone in the park.
“I think everything is safe, my lady,” he declared, “We should get going. I know you’re probably itching to get our patrol started.”
“Wow.” To his surprise, Ladybug ignored his statement, grabbed his hand, and pulled him into the decorated space. “They did an amazing job. It’s so beautiful.”
Everything within the boundaries of the fence was tastefully adorned with an explosion of pink and white. Chairs made of slatted wood-lined both sides of a shimmery aisle runner while large pots containing rose bushes in full bloom were scattered throughout the grounds.
A white gazebo that had been fashioned into an altar was the source of the park’s illumination. Light poured through translucent white curtains that swayed gently in the breeze. A cascading garland of pink and white roses adorned the entranceway.
“It’s like walking through a dream,” Ladybug whispered, reaching out to touch the delicate petals on the make-shift archway.
Chat stood next to her under the flowered veil. “Do you like roses?”
She nodded. “Yeah, the pink ones are my favorite.”
“I’ll make sure to remember that.”
“Thinking of getting me flowers?”
“Purr-haps.”
Ladybug flicked his bell. “I thought this little kitty was smitten with someone else. At least that’s what he told me that last time I checked.”
He turned his head away. “Um...no. Things didn’t exactly work out with her. We were...um...too alike.”
“I’m sorry to hear that, Chaton.”
“Thank you, my lady.”
A dull ache resonated throughout his body. Every fiber of his being yearned to be with Ladybug. A lot had changed between them, but she was still his everything. Several months ago, he’d tried so hard to move on from his crush on her, but looking for love somewhere else only made him realize that he’d never stop being in love with her.
After Ladybug became the Guardian, Chat began to spend time with his partner after patrols. He knew that she needed his unwavering support, and he was more than willing to provide it.
At first, their conversations centered around plans to find and defeat Hawkmoth, but they eventually started talking to each other about their everyday lives. Without revealing their identities, they got to know each other on a more personal level.
Soon, Ladybug was no longer just the beautiful enigma who’d stolen his heart. He’d come to discover that beneath her serious exterior was an ordinary girl who led an extraordinary life. She had hopes and dreams like everyone else. She wasn’t perfect, but she was real. Chat always knew that his lady was brave, creative, and intelligent, but he was pleasantly surprised to learn that she was also quirky, kind, and selfless. While he still didn’t know her name, it was almost as if she was someone he knew in his civilian life.
It didn’t take long for them to become each other’s best friends. Once this happened, he knew things would never work out with Kagami. His heart would forever belong to his lady, and loving anyone other than his partner proved to be an impossible task.
So, with a heavy heart, he told Kagami that he was in love with another girl. Initially, she’d been upset, but they eventually came to a mutual understanding. In the end, he was happy that he and Kagami were able to remain friends.
Chat didn’t tell Ladybug about the overwhelming love he still felt for her because he was afraid that she didn’t want to know about it. His lady had mentioned going on a few dates with someone, but she said that she decided to stay friends with the mystery boy. He knew that she wasn’t dating anyone at the moment, but he’d become terrified of rejection. His heart wasn’t ready to hurt again.
Being in Ladybug’s presence made him feel broken and whole at the same time. However, after seeing the wonderment in her expression tonight, he was on the verge of shattering into a million pieces. As he continued to watch her gush over the decorations, a surge of emotion pressed against the fissures in his soul.
When tears started to brim in the corners of his eyes, he turned his head away from his lady and did his best to focus on something else. His gaze eventually landed on a white baby grand piano in the middle of the gazebo.
He sniffled, hastily wiped the wetness from his cheeks, and took a seat on the bench. After lifting the lid, he gently ran his fingers across the keys. He took a deep breath and began to play.
At first, the notes came slowly. As he continued to play, his song started to evolve into a tune that reflected his deepest desires. It was the song that his soul sang every day. He closed his eyes and escaped into the music.
Her voice cut into his reverie and pulled him back to earth. “That’s beautiful, Chaton.”
“Thank you, my lady.” His fingers still danced across the keys while he spoke.
“I’ve never heard that song before. Is it from something?”
“I wrote it. The melody took over every thought and wrote itself on my heart.”
“It’s incredible.” She walked over and sat down next to him. “What inspired you to write it?”
Chat’s fingers went still. “You were my inspiration.”
He heard her breath hitch. “What?”
“I wrote it for you.” He met her gaze.
“Please don’t stop.” Ladybug’s voice was barely a whisper.
“Anything for you, my lady.” Chat looked back down at the keys and started again from the beginning.
He once again lost himself in the melody. Every passing note screamed a hidden declaration of love. As if it was the last thing he’d ever do, he poured every ounce of himself into his playing. He couldn’t find the courage to voice the “I love you” that pounded against his chest, so his song spoke for him instead. Tonight, the piano sang the song of his soul, and he really hoped that his lady was listening.
When the song ended, he became painfully aware of Ladybug’s presence. Chat turned his head only to find his lady looking at her lap. Her bangs obscured her face, making it impossible for him to gauge her reaction.
“Thank you for playing that for me, Chat,” she said softly, “I have to go home now, but I’ll see you soon.”
He reached out as she got up and walked away from the piano. “Wait! We didn’t finish our patrol.”
“It’s a school night, and I have to finish some homework before tomorrow. Paris will be okay for tonight.”
He felt his entire body droop. “You hated it.”
Within seconds, her hands slipped into his own and she pulled him to his feet. “Oh, no, Chaton. That’s not it at all. I loved it. I loved it with all my heart.”
“Then why are you leaving?”
“The schoolwork thing isn’t a lie. I really do need to finish my Physics homework; however, I have a feeling that it’s going to take a little longer tonight because I suddenly have a lot on my mind.”
“But what does…”
Before he could finish his question, Ladybug slipped away and stood in the gazebo’s entranceway.
“I’ll see you soon, kitty.” She gave him a little wave and swung off into the night.
Chat felt the beginnings of a smile tug at the corners of his mouth. “Goodnight, my lady.”
***
Marinette sighed and stared at the ceiling. She’d been in bed for six hours, and, to her utter despair, she was still awake. Nothing felt right. Nothing felt comfortable. Her usually soft bed had betrayed her.
With a huff, she sat up, fluffed her pillow, and flopped back down onto the bed. She then scooped up one of her throw pillows and screamed into it.
“What’s wrong, Marinette?” Tikki mumbled groggily from her nest of blankets.
“Why is it always the blond ones?” She turned onto her back and stared at the ceiling. “Why couldn’t I have just fallen for the cute one with the black and blue hair! It would have been so much easier!”
“Sorry. I’m not quite following you.”
“Do you remember when Luka played me that song when I was trying to get over my crush on Adrien?”
“Yes.”
“Well, when he played that song, it felt like the giant gaping hole in my chest had been refilled. It wasn’t the same, but I felt whole again. It would have been easy to fall in love with him.”
“Okay, but what does that have to do with blond boys?”
Marinette squeezed the throw pillow against her chest. “When Chat played me that song tonight, it made me feel more than just whole. I felt complete. Like I gained something that I didn’t have before...something I didn’t even know that I needed. Does that make sense?”
Tikki giggled. “That makes all the sense in the world!”
“What do you mean?”
“I want you to think for a moment, Marinette. How do you really feel about Chat Noir?”
“He’s my best friend. My partner. We’ve never been closer, and I trust him with my life.”
“No, really think. How do you feel about Chat?”
Marinette laid her head on her pillow, closed her eyes, and took a deep breath. She let her consciousness wander back to the park and the glowing lights of the gazebo. Chat’s melody rang through her mind like the gentlest lullaby. It quieted her thoughts and soothed her soul.
Moments before falling asleep, everything suddenly made sense.
“I love him, Tikki,” she whispered before drifting into a blissful slumber.
That night, Marinette dreamt of spots, flashes of black, and soaring over the rooftops of Paris. It was as if her mind was finally catching up to her heart.
She awoke the next morning with cheeks that were sore from smiling. It’d been so long since she’d felt this way. The heartbreak of walking away from Adrien had crushed her, but for the first time in months, she was walking on air.
Even though she’d only gotten two hours of sleep, she felt wonderful. Her brain was a little fuzzy, but she decided that it was okay. Marinette knew she would spend the whole day dreaming about the next time she would see Chat.
She hummed while she got ready, and she kept humming while she walked to school. When Marinette took her seat, she continued to hum. After taking out her textbook, she rested her head in her arms and stared wistfully into the distance. Her entire world was a blissful blur.
“Girl!” A foreign entity screamed. “ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING TO ME?”
Marinette blinked twice and looked up. Alya stood before her with her arms crossed over her chest and a smug grin painted on her lips.
“Yeah, what’s up?” Marinette did her best to focus on her best friend.
“Where is your head today? I’ve been calling your name for a full minute. You didn’t even move when I poked you.”
“I...uhh…” She sighed. “Sorry, Alya. I didn’t get much sleep last night. I think my brain is still dreaming.”
Alya laughed. “Girl, you are a mess!”
“I know.”
“It’s okay. I’ll let you copy my notes if you fall asleep in class.”
“Thank you so much! You are a lifesaver!”
“I know. But if I do this for you, then you’ll have to tell me the real reason behind that lovesick grin on your face.” Alya nudged her arm.
Marinette began to panic. “W-what do you mean? My face is perfectly normal, thank you very much!”
“Mmmmhmmm. Don’t lie to me. I haven’t seen an expression like that on you in months. Spill. Who’s the guy? Did you finally say yes to Luka?”
“No.”
Alya leaned in and dropped her voice to a whisper. “It’s not Adrien, is it? I heard he’s not dating Kagami anymore.”
“NO!” Marinette shouted before clearing her throat and adjusting her volume, “No, it’s...wait, when did he break up with Kagami?”
“A few weeks ago. Nino told me.”
“Oh, wow, but um...no. It’s not Adrien.” A pang shot through her heart, and she quickly brushed away the sensation. “You don’t know him.”
Alya squinted. “You’re lying.”
“No, I’m not!”
“Fine, keep your secrets. But you will owe me a whole box of pastries when you finally start dating Adrien. I’m telling you, girl, you and he are meant to be! It’s like the whole universe is working to get you two together.”
“Alya, it’s not like that. Adrien and I are just friends.”
“Sure! Go ahead, and keep telling yourself that. Just know that I’d like a mix of eclairs and chocolate croissants.”
“Hey, babe,” Nino called from across the room, causing both girls to whip their heads towards the door, “What’s up? You two look like you’re having a pretty deep convo.”
Alya looked back at her. “Marinette was just telling me about someone who caught her eye.”
“I was not,” she responded through gritted teeth.
Adrien walked into the room and took his seat. “Good morning! How is everyone today?”
“We’re all doing great,” Alya beamed, “Thanks for asking. How’s your day going, sunshine?”
“I’m...um...okay.” He took a deep breath. “I have a lot on my mind today.”
Before Marinette could react to his statement, Miss Bustier sauntered into the room. “Good morning, class. Let’s get started right away. Please open your books to page three-hundred and ninety-four.”
Marinette’s eyes may have stayed open during the lesson, but her consciousness was somewhere else. By the time class had ended, Chat’s melody had once again surfaced in her mind. Even though she couldn’t hear the notes with her ears, she allowed herself to become lost in her memory of them.
Eventually, she began to hum.
A gentle hand touched her forearm and snapped her back into reality. Within seconds, she became painfully aware of two shining green eyes looking into her own. Marinette could have sworn that there was admiration behind Adrien’s softened gaze. It was the kind of look that she had only dreamed of seeing him cast in her direction.
She found it strange how the love she felt for Chat seamlessly transitioned into a resurgence of feelings for her former crush; nonetheless, she allowed herself to revel in his closeness. In doing so, she was transported to a place she never thought she’d have the chance to revisit. Yet, here was the boy of her dreams, looking at her like she was the center of his universe.
It felt familiar.
It felt safe.
It felt right.
“Adrien,” she said breathlessly.
He swallowed before speaking. “Where did you hear that song?”
Marinette’s heart pounded against her chest as she struggled to find an answer.

She Was Incredible
MARICHAT MAY 2020
Day 6: Hold My Baton
A/N: This one gave me a LOT of trouble. I originally finished this a few days ago, but then last night I opened it to double check it for today, an IT WAS HALF WAY EMPTY. I guess I forgot to save, but still pissed me off. That's why this one is relatively shorter than some of the others. I stayed up late to finish it off, so I hope you like it :)
✧・゚: *✧・゚:* ✧*:・゚✧
Marinette was having a bad day.
Another water-based akuma had tormented Paris all this morning, aiming powerful bursts of freezing cold water at whoever dared walked by. Luckily, Chat Noir had gotten wind of the danger and arrived the scene shortly.
Unluckily, Marinette had not.
Yet again, the noirette had woken up disastrously late for school and ended up leaving Tikki behind. By the time she realized the small kwami's absence, she was standing in front of school, hair half tied and a half-eaten croissant in her mouth.
Marinette debated running back home, but her thoughts were cut short when she suddenly was soaked head to toe in biting cold water. The akuma laughed manically overhead, flying away and shooting water and more bystanders. She aimed her hands at a nearby water tower; bursts of water shot out, toppling the structure over. Waves of water crashed down the street, wrecking cars and stalls in its path. Bystanders rushed in to nearby crossroads and stores.
Instantly, Marinette rushed up a nearby building along with a few other students. The owner inside signaled to follow him as he ran up the stairs; on the rooftop, Marinette watched over the remaining civilians stuck on the street.
"Water-Burst! You should really calm down, you're acting quite shallow!"
Chat Noir landed besides Marinette, grinning mockingly at the floating akuma. Water-Burst turned around and glared at the leather-clad hero and raised her arms threateningly towards him, "Chat Noir! How great of you to join me, now hand over your miraculous before I wash you away!"
Chat sprung to the side narrowly avoiding another blast of water, he shot himself to the right, deflecting the water with his baton. Water-Burst grunted as Chat deflected yet another burst, and moved her focus to the remaining civilians.
Three teenagers climbed up a fire escape ladder, helping up a father-daughter duo behind them. The father clambered up, reaching a hand out for his daughter behind him, but the ice-cold akuma shot another blast knocking the girl over into the rushing water.
Marinette watched in horror as the young girl's body crashed into nearby debris, her eyes closing as she sunk further and further down.
"Chat! Save her!" He turned to her with a panicked expression, eyes moving back and forth between Marinette and the drowning girl.
Finally, he moved away. Then with a running start, Chat dived into the water, "Hold my baton!" Marinette stared as the silver rod went flying towards her.
If she wasn't secretly Ladybug, she doubted she would have been able to catch it in time. Thankfully, she was. With lightning-fast reflexes she grabbed the baton, stumbling only slightly backwards.
She watched Chat's silhouette slowly grew smaller, and smaller, and smaller until it was a mere blob rippled by the water. Beside her, classmates gathered around the edge of the rooftop to stare at the crisis below. Chat had been under for a while now, why wasn't he swimming up? What was he doing? Gripping the baton became much more of a challenge as her hands clammed up at the stress of it all. If only she was Ladybug, she could have gotten her out with her yoyo!
"I don't think he's coming back up..."
"He has too, he's Chat Noir!"
"I don't think even Chat Noir could swim through those currents,"
Marinette had to do something. Even if she couldn't help as Ladybug, she couldn't just stand by as Marinette! She was her classes 'Everyday-Ladybug', so what was she doing just standing here on this roof? She had to act fast, what could she do?
Think, Marinette think! Where were those spotty indicators when you needed them? Her eyes scanned over the building, moving from broken flower pots to a crying Mylene, finally resting on the baton in her hands. Marinette pressed the pawprint and fell back as the baton extended off the roof.
That's it! Marinette had an idea, but without the protection of her suit, she had no idea if it would even work. Breathing in a gulp of fresh ar, Marinette gripped the baton, then jumped off the edge.
"Marinette!"
Instantly, Marinette's eyes burst open as the ice-cold water rushed past her. The instinct to swim up for air fought in the back of her mind, but she knew she had to stay focused. Marinette pushed herself fourth down, each action pushing more of the icy water into her clothes.
Finally, Marinette caught sight of Chat. He cradled the young girl in his grasp, but without both arms, he struggled to move far. Ignoring the searing pain freezing her every joint, Marinette struggled towards them. Chat's eyes widened at the sight of her, but Marinette simply wrapped her arm around his neck. With the remaining energy she had left, she pointed the baton down and extended it.
The three of them shot out the water, bursting into the air like a rocket. Together, they fell forward onto a nearby rooftop. They crashed down, Chat bearing most of the damage as he held the young girl above him. Marinette rolled over, coughing and spluttering water out onto the roof.
After releasing every last drop of water from inside of her, Marinette fell onto her back. Her vision blurred, a familiar black clump appeared above her, slowly moving back and forth, back and forth, back... and... forth...
"Marinette! Are you alright?" Marinette's sight finally focused, Chat's concerned face came into view as he stared down at her, "You, you saved the little girl! And me!"
Water dripped down her back, even lying down Marinette could feel her pigtails lie unceremoniously flat against her back, staining her shirt. Chat's hair bounced frustratingly dry, mimicking the weak excuse for bangs across her forehead, "You've saved me a bunch of times; let's just call it even."
"But I have powers, you don't," a small smile grew on Chat's face, "You really are our Everyday Ladybug,"
If only you knew.
"You don't have to say that. Now go; her father is probably freaking out right now and you have an akuma to fight," they turned back to the little girl now breathing peacefully to the side, then to her father wiping his tears as the teens comforted him.
Chat picked up the girl and cradled her in his arms, taking position at the roof's edge. He extended his baton and spared a final glance back, "Trust me, Mari. You're amazing."
With that, Chat took off, leaving Marinette alone on the rooftop.
"MARINETTE!"
Tikki flew up to Marinette, hovering just in front of her face, "Tikki? How did you get here?"
"You left me in your room, so I had to sneak out to find you! You need to be more responsible next time."
Marinette knew Tikki was only looking out for her, but hearing the disappointment in her voice still hurt, "I'm sorry, Tikki. I'll make it up to you, but now we've got an akuma to fight!"
✧✬✧
Ladybug swung into action, gracefully landing next to Chat Noir as he deflected another blast of water, "Hey, Kitty. Sorry I'm late, did you miss me?"
Chat grinned at the spotty heroine, leaping up next to Water-Burst, "You'd be surprised. I had some help before you arrived,"
"Oh yeah?" Ladybug pulled herself into the air, twirling around the akuma, "How'd they do?"
Instant;y, Ladybug nodded at Chat Noir. They launched into action, simultaneously charging Water-Burst in a vicious attack. Ladybug aimed her yoyo at Water-Bursts arms, pulling them tighter and tighter together. Chat swung his baton, knocking a light blue pair of glasses of her face. He fell back, landing next to Ladybug, "She was incredible."
Ladybug swung into action before Chat could notice her blush.

Pittsburgh Penguins 2018/19: Explained
Since we're about to kick off with the playoffs, I figured I'd do an updated silly explanation of the Penguins. So here goes...
Players
Kris "Tanger" Letang - a fashion icon who loves to tweet about how much he loves his team. Incredible two way defenseman. Loves to yell at the refs. It's not Tanger if he's not arguing.
Evgeni "Geno" Malkin - fashion disaster. NHL101. One of the best, if not the best, players in the league but constantly overlooked. Shouldn't be able to skate as gracefully as he does on such long legs. Has the softest hands. Would kill a man for Sidney Crosby.
Sidney "Sid the kid" Crosby - Captain Dad. Takes on rookies like it's his job and ninety percent of the comments from players about him is that he's great at making newbies feel welcome. Has adopted so many sons. Really likes candy. Is already a legend and isn't slowing down. Will probably take over the world at some point. Loves his teammates, especially the rest of the core. Has specially commissioned paintings of him and the boys hanging in his house. President of the Evgeni Malkin fan club.
Jake "Guentz" Guentzel - young but mighty. Really put all his heart into playing and came out from under Sid's wing like a champ. Won't stop scoring. Likes golf. Wrote a book report on Sid once.
Justin "Jultz" Schultz - Also known as Jeff. Amazing defenseman, literally don't know what we'd do without him. Missed a bunch of this season with a broken leg but thank God he came back. Has a fake tooth he just carries around with him for interviews. Best friends with Olli Maatta.
Olli Maatta - for a long time we all thought he was super quiet and shy and then at the 2016/17 cup parade we turned out to be very very wrong. Boy went buckwild and passed out on his own balcony. Soft and fluffy. We love him. Best friends with Justin Schultz.
Brian "Dumo" Dumoulin - looks like your typical frat boy but actually doubles as one of the best/most underrated defensemen in the league and the Ultimate Wine Connoisseur. Loves his wife and his dog more than anything. Team DJ but doesn't know what indie music is.
Matt "Cully" Cullen - (A.K.A Dad) Was with us for a few years, left us for a season and was meant to retire in Minnesota but then came back for 18/19 because he Missed Us Too Much. Not convinced he'll ever stop playing tbh. Has the funniest kids and loves his family.
Phil 'The Thrill' Kessel - ...Is a Stanley Cup Champion. Shy boy who doesn't like cameras. Plays like a God. Really loves his dog, Stella. Super Supportive Brother of Amanda Kessel. We are so blessed to have this man on our team.
Patric "Horny" Hornqvist - resident Swedish Viking. Was part of the iconic duo of Horny and Hags but this season stole that from us. Very shouty and very happy. A net-pest who upsets most goalies in the league. Allergic to wearing clothes.
Bryan "Rusty" Rust - soft boy. Great at breakaways and his job in general. Went through a period of time where empty nets just really weren't working for him to the point it became a team meme. Works really hard and deserves nice things.
Matt "Muzz" Murray - elite!!! Crazy good at his job and is going to be a complete legend one day. Has two giant Newfoundlands who are adorable. Was a mentee to Flower and It Shows. Works with charity a lot and is so humble. We love this boy.
Tristan Jarry - eyebrows!!! Also very good at his job. Sully once had to tell him to be LESS calm because he's so chill. He doesn't even break a sweat making insane saves. Fantastic dude.
Zach Aston-Reese - "ZAR" - looks like he should be in the wilderness chopping wood. Looks AMAZING when he gets into fights. Soft and lovely, works really hard for this team and deserves his place here. Poor boy won't stop getting injured though. Half of the iconic nose & eyebrows squad.
Garrett "Willy" Wilson - other half of the nose and eyebrows squad. Has freckles for days. Captain of WBS and it shows. BIG, looks like he could Kill, but is actually very soft spoken and has a little bit of a lisp. Loves kids and loves Pittsburgh. Deserves only the best.
Dominik "Domino" Simon - people can personally fight me about Dom, I love him. Had a bit of an up and down season but he'll be okay!!! Underrated two way player and trusted by Sully. Looks like a chick that just hatched for Easter.
Chad "Roo" Ruhwedel - used to play roller hockey a lot! We don't see him much but he's a good guy. Works hard and gets along with Sid a lot.
Jack Johnson, A.K.A. "JJ" - was Sid's roommate in school. Has a lot of stories about him he either can't or won't share about him. Had a questionable start but has been really really helpful to the whole team as of late. So big.
Theodore "Teddy" Blueger - somebody please let this boy get some rest. Looks like he has a cold 90% of the time but definitely doesn't play like it. He's going to have an amazing career. Jesus Christ.
Marcus "The Dragon" Pettersson - acquired him from the Ducks this season and it was definitely worth it. He's tall, young and has a play similar to Dumo's. Who knows, maybe in a few years he'll be just as unstoppable as him?
Jared "Canner" McCann - along with Bjuggy, Canner experienced maybe the most stressful move from his old team to the Penguins. Left Florida and showed up for their first game two minutes before the anthem started. Looks a bit like Guentz when he has his helmet on. Insanely good addition to this team, could not be more grateful for him.
Nick "Bjuggy" Bjugstad - like Canner, has been an incredible acquisition. You will hear his name pop up about 100 times a game because he never stops working for it. Just wow.
Erik Gudbranson - Large Man. He can really steamroll them. He's too new for me to know That Much about him but boy can he send opposing players flying.
Zach Trotman - called up from WBS recently. Looks a bit lost sometimes like he's not 100% sure where he is or what he's doing but he's a good guy.
Head & Assistant Coaches
Mike "Sully" Sullivan - Head Coach. Angry Bird. Loves his team, expresses his pride in the guys constantly, but is not afraid to yell. Has a good relationship with his players and makes good decisions most of the time. Unless it's an empty net. He really likes them. The fans wish he didn't.
Mark "Rex" Recchi - Assistant Coach. A kind guy who works hard and backs Sully most of the time. Looks after his players. Top notch dude.
Sergei "Gonch" Gonchar - Assistant Coach. Basically a second father to Geno, housed him when he first came to Pittsburgh. Played with him and Sid for a little while. Is permanently done with the whole team. Absolutely beloved.
Jacques Martin - Assistant Coach. Responsible for 'Jacques Squad' which was an incredible penalty team group the last few seasons.

Let’s Get Out of Here
Request: ... I saw your bias from Day6 is Jae .. soo, can I possibly request someone from Day6?? Thank you :)
Member: Day6′s Jae x Y/N x (ft. Day6′s Brian)
Type: Fluff
“How much does it cost?” Jae sighed, struggling to keep up with Brian’s excited pace.
“I think you just have to buy a drink,” Brian nodded. He didn’t even have to look back to know how unenthusiastic Jae was about the situation.
Then again, it took a lot for Jae to get actually enthused when it came to Brian’s ideas.
“But like...is there a price range for the drink?” Jae questioned. “Or can I survive off of cheap beer for most of the night? I hear they have Pabst for a dollar a glass-”
“Jae, I think you’re hipster is showing. Does anyone actually drink that anymore?” Brian chuckled, turning the corner at top speed.
“No, my broke is showing,” Jae grumbled. “But that didn’t stop you from making me get out of bed.”
“It was seven in the evening!” Brian gasped. “I wasn’t sure if you were going to bed really early or waking up really late.”
“Plot twist,” Jae sighed. “Both, I was doing both.”
“Well, I’m happy to see you were so happy to join me,” Brian muttered.
“Can I live tweet this nightmare?” Jae grumbled. “Hashtag someone please save me from the kang.”
“I knew I should have taken Wonpil,” Brian sighed, shaking his head.
Jae gasped and immediately halted his steps. He reached up and dramatically grasped his t-shirt above his chest. “You take that back. You take that back right now Brian Kang.”
Brian paused as well and spun around to look at his older member. He rolled his eyes and grabbed at Jae’s wrist. “I’m sorry, now come on, we’re going to be late.”
“Are you going to introduce yourself to people as Brian?” Jae asked, dragging his feet. “Or Younghyun? Or Young K? Oh please tell me you’re introducing yourself as Young K.”
“Why did I do this? Why did I do this to myself?” Brian whispered. “Invite Jae, you said. It would be fun, you said.”
“I am the wingman of your dreams, Young K,” Jae snickered. “I was made for this moment.”
“You know you can’t be a wingman when we’re speed dating,” Brian grumbled. “We’re going to be on our own.”
“Whoa, whoa, whoa,” Jae said, furrowing his brows as he paused again. “So you’re telling me...we can’t be a tag team duo?”
“This isn’t wrestling,” Brian groaned. “I assumed you knew what speed dating was.”
“I mean...I’ve never actually done it,” Jae hummed. His eyes were wide as he searched Brian’s face. “I don’t have enough dad jokes for this.”
“Time to unlock the emergency vault,” Brian nodded. “Cause we’re here.”
You readjusted in the uncomfortable bar stool and cringed. A solitary bead of sweat was cascading down the back of your knee. It caused you to shiver, and you let a light groan escape your lips. It was a sure sign that you were nervous.
You would be lying if you said you hadn’t been at least a little bit curious when your friend had brought up the idea of speed dating. You had both been single since before you came to Seoul, so in theory, it made sense. You still hadn’t expected for her to sign you both up for the nearest speed dating event she could find once your discussion had ended.
You had always planned on living intentionally. You would never find love if you didn’t get out there and actually open yourself to it, so here you sat, a nervous mess at a night club in the middle of Gangnam.
“Hello and how are you!” the speed dating organizer called over the hum of conversation buzzing around the room.
You looked up nervously from the cocktail you were prodding at and toward your friend who had quite literally drug you here. She was smiling brightly as she tossed her perfectly styled hair over her shoulder. If she wasn’t your friend, you would have hated her. She looked like she had her life completely together without a single nerve in sight. She caught your eye as you analyzed her and winked, shimmying her shoulders as a signal for you to calm down.
“Ladies and gentleman, welcome to our Seoul singles event!”
The crowd that had gathered around cheered and began to clap. The organizer grinned as she looked around the room and nodded. “Yes! I know we’re all very excited. Let me lay down how this works! Each of you have been given a sheet of paper. Write down who you are meeting with, circle the names of the people you feel you connected with the most! At the end of the experience, we’ll take your papers and match you up accordingly. You will only be given each other’s contact information if it was a mutual match! You’ll be emailed your matches within the next few days, and it will be your chance to contact each other then!”
The group of daters cheered again to signal their understanding. You, however, couldn’t make a sound. You looked down to your name tag, firmly placed on your right chest pocket. You made sure to adjust it, even though it was already perfectly visible. You took a deep breath and nodded to yourself. It was healthy to step out of your comfort zone...wasn’t it?
“You have five minutes with each date!” the organizer continued. “At the end of the five minutes, I will hit the buzzer and you will move on to the next date! You will have ten dates in total, understood?”
Just shy of an hour talking to strangers. Just what you wanted to do on a Saturday night.
“And...begin!”
“You look like a reasonable person,” the next man sighed as he placed his beer glass down on the small table separating the two of you. You looked up to his name tag, albeit upside down. You were careful to scrawl his name on the appropriate line of your date sheet. Jae. You only had one more line beneath his at this point and could finally relax. You could see the light.
“Um...thanks?” you hummed, tilting your head. This was a strange opener.
You had been sitting for longer than your butt would appreciate and began to fidget in your chair. You had heard just about every opening line or pick up in the book at this point and were exasperated with the thought of having to sit through ten more minutes of this.
“Frankly, this beer tastes really bad,” he continued. “And five minutes is not the ideal amount of time to get to know someone.”
“Agreed,” you nodded, stirring at what was left of your own drink.
“Do you like pizza?” Jae asked, focusing intently on your face.
You blinked in surprise and slowly began to nod. “I’ve been known to.”
“What about puppies? Do you like puppies?” he asked.
“Who doesn’t like puppies?” you whispered, furrowing your brows.
“Satan probably,” Jae nodded. “So I came here with my friend Brian, you know, the guy who sat down before me?”
“Right,” you confirmed, still not quite following his line of thought.
“I also see that you did not circle his name,” he nodded. “Now, if I could be so bold, what do you say we blow this popsickle stand?”
“...go on,” you hummed, looking casually over your shoulder. You eyed the organizer walking around with her buzzer. You then looked toward your oncoming date at the table over and sighed.
You readjusted your gaze to look back at Jae. A grin began to tug at the corner of his mouth before he bit his bottom lip. He scooted closer to the table and by extension, closer to you. He looked you in the eyes as he dropped his voice. “So there’s a pet shop a couple blocks down from here. We can pet all the puppies we want until they close. And right next door is this little Italian joint that has subpar pizza. I want to take you there.”
Your eyes grew wide as you stared at him, unsure if he was extremely confident or batshit crazy.
But he was pretty gorgeous. Your eyes gazed over his lightly colored hair, gracefully disheveled as it fell over his forehead. His dark eyes were covered by large frames, but they made his face even more interesting. His cheekbones and jawline would probably slice you open if you touched them, and his smile was absolutely to die for.
Was it wrong to trust him just because he had a pretty face?
“I get it,” Jae nodded. “I can see in your eyes. Why go with this guy? He could be a serial killer. Granted, his hands are entirely too feminine and soft for any sort of homicide, but I still don’t know his life. He offers me puppies and food and the next thing you know, he’ll be luring me into his passenger van, never to be seen again...
...but then again, if we both bounce now, I can save you from the special kind of terrible homeboy next to me offers. I’ve heard him tell a story about how he saved some orphans from a fire about seven times now, and I’m pretty sure that shit is made up. So help me, help you.”
You grew anxious as you looked up again, narrowing your eyes to see that there was only a little over a minute left of your conversation. You looked back down to Jae’s face when he wiggled his brows, patiently waiting for an answer.
“Have you shopped this idea around to the other girls you’ve sat with?” you asked, finally finding your voice.
“They already had their questions lined up,” he sighed. “It would have been rude of me to interrupt...
Plus none of them had eyes as incredible as yours.”
“Do you think hitting on me will seal the deal?” you chuckled.
“At the very least I thought it would maybe speed up the process,” Jae grinned. “As we have about fifty seconds left. So what do you say? Ready to get banned from any more speed dating events?”
“I...well...” you hummed. You looked toward your friend, looking pretty intimate with Jae’s friend Brian. You were amazed at how close she could manage to get with someone in a manner of five minutes, but he looked entranced. You looked to Jae and bit your lip, slowly allowing yourself to nod.
“Let’s get out of here.”
