First up, a Winter Sharena concept!

The last panel would have been Sharena begging to "steal Alfonse's body warmth" while Alfonse subtly/sarcastically teases her about it, Moe trailing behind them (I lost steam/focus though 🥲)

This was The Year Of Bruno as well, and I was testing out/playing with the scenario presented (From the Tempest Trials and from what Winter Bruno says, it seems Alfonse and Sharena spent the holiday together while the Summoner was spending it with Bruno the Envoy)

(funny aspect of this is I don't even really enjoy "why does so and so call you babygirl" jokes anymore LMFAOOO like. Nothing wrong w em and was a decent set up here, but Moe would Not Fucking Say That skskksk) (also you can Tell this is Early On in Moe's development bc its fangs aren't even piercings 😔)

This year I Did revisit Winter Concepts, espp wanting to redo my Idea of a winter Moe who's helping out Bruno with Envoy Duty

All it needed was to become more of a furry and some loose BDSM gear inspo 👍 I was also thinking about a few different things! Like how Bruno's fit is literally just his regular outfit with some Santa suit on top LMFAO. But I was also thinking about how Moe is probably not meant to be recognized here? If it is hanging out with Bruno? Who is actively avoiding being seen by Alfonse and Sharena? So Moe keeps the shoes/tights, but little else!

Final version would have most closely resembled this one!

Once again I'm parsing how okay well how are they interacting with each other. What's the vibe here?

I wanted to draw a bigger piece of them hanging out, maybe spending the night together by the fire with hot cocoa after a hard day's work (again thinking about how it's implied the summoner spent the holiday separately from Alfonse/Sharena). I may revisit the concept again, I feel like there's a lot of potential story-focused comic wise here.... and a lot of set up for some funny conflict later.

honestly feeling stressed that feh wants askr to be a perfect paradise which keeps getting attacked by all these rotten jealous neighbouring nations who are just jealous of askrs cool summoner and perfect lives but then also orphanages are a universal constant?????? askrs wars are nearly exclusively fought by fire emblem characters isekai'd for that sole purpose but there's still enough orphaned kids that the state is practicing institutionalisation??????? and then filling those orphanages with adult fe characters who were raised in them makes them feel like a zoo exhibit like oh it's enrichment for the heroes to go take care of forgotten unloved children just like they were. that's kind of sick. that's twisted

Making awakening fanfics has been an experience for me because it really made me notice how...fast? The plot happens 😭

Whenever I have an event take place in the normal awakening timeline and it really doesn't connect with anything in the game, I find that I have to use like...the brief peace time period to use it because it's *so* hard to fit my ideas anywhere else.

YEAH they really speed through things askdjd it can make it hard to place things.

I think part of that effect comes down to the chapters just cutting past a lot of the travel time that an army would realistically have between destinations. Idk how big Archanea and Valm are, but they ARE each called continents so presumably they're pretty big. Carting people and supplies the kinds of distances that would realistically stretch between major plot points would take a while. There's definitely a lot more room between major events than it can feel like, and plenty room to place random events there for fic purposes. Thats the premise a lot of the support convos rely on, tbh.

My issue tbh is more one of like... where do I place things so I hit the emotional beats I want without also giving the villains of the story an opportunity to immediately derail everything?

My basic premise is "drop the good timeline crew and RKC into a petri dish and see what they do". I _really_ like the flavour of interpersonal conflict that comes out of having mid-story good timeline crew in that mix; but since future!Grima is still around at that point, we have a hard time playing out that conflict because an evil dragon can make RKC act according to their will at any moment and Ruin Everything. I could solve that by making it a post-game story, sure; but that ends up being a very different story because the good guys already won so there's no doubt to needle at, and it isnt a bad story but idk if its my preferred direction to take this thing.

Maybe if we give powered down Grima a range limit on puppeteering that could work... Bleh.
