And they are finished!!! I LOVE how this turned out, nice change to just draw Moon (and the naptime corner) in my usual colors rather then a challenge palette!

Went a lil ham on some of the details and outfit changes to make them look different from how i usually draw JDCAU Moon (Especially cause the eyes) But I think they look different enough! (and very pretty....)

And lil note added later here, They are now apart of my branching Au J-TOL! (trans fem Moon, they/them)

...I may end up stealing some elements to their design to update Moony's design...(its been awhile since i updated them and Sunny's designs Ignoring the eyelashes which are recent)

And I did take some inspiration for the waist piece of their outfit from @chimkin-samich 's version of Moon and his outfit in their designs! They make some really cool comics of Sun and Moon!! (Warning for it being more romance based and sometimes angsty!!!)

TOL Rewatch Week One

Just rewatched episode one with beloved mutual @magicaldreamfox1 and AAAAAAAA this show really does so many things to me

I have like a million and one thoughts but two main ones-

I am still so fucking pissed about Khai being made into a genuine asshole for drama reasons in the show instead of just being a dumb slut (affectionate) who thought his feelings for Third were Extra Special Friendship Feelings as if all friends dream about building a life with their bestie and get anxiety over the idea of said bestie not being by their side always.... yeah Khai is so much gayer in the novel y'all don't understand I will never shut up about this particular change. Never ever. HE SHOULD'VE BEEN A SIMP FROM THE GET GO. I get that the drama was important to fill up eps but like they did Khai a grave injustice by erasing so many of the scenes that showed his good side, his scared side, his confused side, his deeply in love with Third side. I will never forgive them for making the show Third biased when the story is supposed to be about Khai's journey.

What would've happened if Two had never intervened. Like I've already written a fic about Third giving up on Khai after overhearing him in That Scene but even then he'd at least tried and like his crush had been acknowledged by people other than him. But what if Two had never found him that night he decided to give up. What if neither Two nor Bone had tried to intervene during that time and Third had pulled away from Khai???? WHY AM I MAKING MYSELF SAD THEY'RE MY FAVOURITE SHIP But like imagine KhaiThird having a friendship break-up imagine Khai losing his fucking mind bc Third was his everything and he just didn't realise it until he'd already lost him imagine them remeeting a few years after they've graduated and Khai desperately trying to get back in Third's good books and Third being his meanest self trying to hide how much he still loves Khai AAAAAAAAA someone write the fic pls i am on my knees begging

Other notable thoughts I had while watching the episode

We should talk more about the fact that Khai went and got his ass beat defending Milk's honour AFTER he found out she was messing with him. Like he just did that huh. And he had no reason to think it would help him get her back or anything he just did it bc he felt like it. My poor lil meow meow my favourite puppy boy I love him.

And Bone absolutely Knew when Third walked away while they were teasing Khai about Milk. He literally frowned at Third walking off and then turned pensively to Khai. Maybe this is when he decided to confront Khai about Third's crush?

Fake Protagonist is still undefeated as best bl ost I said what I said.

Two and Bone are the best friends ever. This friend group is perfection like no other BL has executed a friend group this well, where everyone gets appropriate screentime and no one exists just for comic relief or to further the plot, they all have their story arcs, their own motivations and flaws and endearments, and they don't go off on their own after the show ends. And they ALL actually get along well. Not Me could've had this if the writers weren't Black antis.

It will be so fucking hard to watch one episode of tol per week literally itching to go watch more as I type AAAAAAAAA

Thinking about how pop really thought jay was a troubled kid who got bullied and got into fights at school who he could help become a more safe teenager through love and care, only to listen in horror after months of thinking this that Jay hasn't gotten into a single fight at school, he was getting his ass kicked by his literal caretakers and hiding out in the city in the mornings and after school because he was afraid of what would happen to him if he made any small mistake while he was at home. And that that whole time, that cute little brother he talked about excitedly, the 11 year old? He'd been in that same house, under that same abuse, but without a break. Imagine the fucking horror knowing that all this has going on under your nose, that the kids had had to wait this long to tell him because they were so afraid. lol

Damn my aunts straight up n awful shitty person.. a few months ago she tried to get my mom to like breakdown or smthn by telling her that shes an alcoholic and that no one likes her (even tho my aunt also has a p obvious drinking problem) and my mom made amends and the first thing she does when coming over today is start looking on apps for a liquor place to order wine from and trying to get my mom to drink again.. she had done that b4 but weird to see her doing that shit again literally immediately. She also always calls one of the dogs a rat and says how ugly she is and said to my sister " she has such a big ugly nose.. is she jewish?" And both my siblings were like ??? ummm. "tol" is like the equivalent of "dude" as in a way of calling your friend

lovely & darlin would probably call vincent & sam their asawang (gets niyo ba asawa + aswang)

asawa means spouse or wife or husband

aswang is a ph mythological creature. different sources tell different things but what is mostly agreed upon is that (1) they're nocturnal (2) they usually pretend to be humans in the day time if not (3) they hide in the woods (4) they prey on children, pregnant women (specifically for their unborn child), and maybe new borns. they often get lumped with vampires though i'm not too sure how accurate that is.

aspins have a very special place in darlin's heart. sam's cabin in the woods usually have attract lots of them and they never had the heart to turn them away. in a way too, they know what it's like to being wild, dirty, street dog.

aspin - a dog breed in the ph that is sort of a mix of other breeds. they often get a bad rep for being street dogs and not having a particular breed.

vincent n his cars get featured a lot in those carspotting around manila tiktoks. whenever lovely finds em they make sure to send those to vincent lol

Looking up some stuff led me to the Wikipedia page on Annwn, which made me go “hey that sounds like Henneth Annûn, i.e. Window on the West —> annûn = west = Valinor”, but Wikipedia’s already got it covered:

Was Tuor granted immortality when he went to Valinor? I thought it was just some of Luthien’s descendants who got to choose. Yet they say Tuor was counted amongst the Noldor in Valinor? Was that just a way of saying that he was so close to them that they thought of him as one of them? Not really granted immortality? Sorry for the lore type question but I’m genuinely undecided as to what happened to him in canon.

Don't apologize! this finally gave me the impetus to crack open Arda Reconstructed which I'd checked out from the library.

Anyway, my interpretation of the Silm had always been that Tuor was granted immortality. Which I didn't think made sense when I was 11 and still doesn't make sense now, but that's what it sounds like to me:

But in after days it was sung that Tuor alone of mortal Men was numbered among the elder race, and was joined with the Noldor, whom he loved; and his fate is sundered from the fate of Men.

That last part, "his fate is sundered from the fate of Men," is what makes it sound like he was given immortality, and was not merely sort of adopted into the Noldor.

Arda Reconstructed pointed me towards The Quenta II in the Shaping of Middle-Earth for where this comes from. And, yeah, it's pretty similar:

But Tuor alone of mortal Men was numbered among the elder race, and joined with the Noldoli whom he loved, and in after time dwelt still, or so it hath been said, ever upon his ship voyaging the seas of the Elven-lands, or resting a while in the harbours of the Gnomes of Tol Eressëa; and his fate is sundered from the fate of Men.

I think the gist here is the same, and the 'sundered from the fate of Men' also still implies he's become immortal.

What's different here is it seems that Tuor cannot actually set foot in Valinor, maybe not even on Tol Eressëa. He's in a fairy-tale like situation of perpetually sailing the enchanted seas of Aman.

As the end of legend, it's good. Very mythic, he's forever sailing with Idril, suitable for the forefather of Númenoreans. But considered in the light of Tolkien's more metaphysical musings, especially about the sundered fates of Elves and Men, it doesn't fit imo. I really go back and forth and whether I like for things to fit the mythic sweep or the metaphysical details, but in this case, I tend to go with Tuor dying, having never set foot on Valinor, which isn't explictly in any version (in the BoLT era story, I think he's lost forever, but that's a bit different).

Anyway, I'll leave you with a very short rec (600-ish words) that explains exactly why I, a lover of Tuor, prefer him to have died at sea:
