I'm bored and sleep deprived again so I got some headcanons about the silly cartoon cat that is Ortensia and her relationship with her father and Ozzie I wanna share. First off her father's and likewise her full name is canonized in the modern age with their appearance in a comic where her father is named "J.P. Whiskers" as seen on the mailbox.

This would make Ortensia's name obviously Ortensia Whiskers, however because I find it funny I'd like to imagine she also has her father's middle name as her middle name. Now with J.P.s middle initial being P his middle name could be anything, yet considering they're cats I just headcanon the P standing for "puss" as that's a term used affectionately for cats. This would make J.P.'s name J. Puss Whiskers and likewise Ortensia's name Ortensia Puss Whiskers which I feel like is a name stupid enough to be believable for a cartoon character.

Next up because of the comic and the original cartoon we also know that J.P. does NOT approve of Ortensia and Oswald's relationship and actively hates him. We can see this in Ortensia's first ever appearance in "The Banker's Daughter" where he is said banker and Ortensia being the said daughter. This cartoon is sadly lost to time but Some storyboards exist with this being the big one:

The plot is also listed on the Disney Wikipedia so we thankfully know what the cartoon would entail.

From this we learn about Ortensia's (who was at the time named Sadie) father is rich and owns a bank where his wealth presumably comes from. Ortensia coming from wealth is also cemented in the aforementioned comic where the entire plot is J.P. Whiskers having a Christmas dinner for the wealthy and he wants to keep the poor (aka Oswald and his best friend) out. Now Ortensia coming from wealth is interesting as I remember watching the Disney Fandaze parade thing and in Ortensia's song there's this line demonstrating her and Oswald's lack of funds.

With this lyric I personally head canon J.P. cutting Ortensia off and not supporting her financially after marrying Oswald. He shows a clear distaste for Ozzie and I feel like he only lets Ortensia see him in the first place is because of the little rabbit's heroism although still ultimately hates him. This makes Oswald's and Ortensia's relationship even sweeter with the idea that Ortensia knowingly decided she didn't need money to be happy, all she needed was Ozzie and she's content with that. It also makes Oswald even sweeter as I imagine him doing his best in order to impress the in-laws because he wants to prove he can be a great husband to Ortensia.

Overall I think it's really sweet the bond these two have and despite everything they only need each other to be happy. Also I don't think Ortensia and her dad have a bad relationship either. I feel like J.P.'s dislike for Oswald comes from over protectiveness and he thinks Oswald is just trying to marry into the family for the money. I feel like his feelings would shift over time and after the two give him grandchildren he'd realize the love Oswald has isn't shallow. I don't think J.P. would ever like Ozzie yet after seeing Oswald willingly be a dad to 420 kids he'd see the obvious and know Oswald has no ulterior motive other than wanting to be a great husband and dad.

They’re mostly actors in the Tooniverse, so I’ve also written out what their personalities are like off-screen under the cut :)

Jazzy Pickles “J.P.” Whiskers - Jazzy was always pretty stoic and uptight- one of the reasons he started going by J.P. since he thought both his first and middle names were silly sounding. He’s stubborn and has a hard time letting go of things, which is something he’s trying to fix about himself. He was extremely disapproving of Oswald when he and Ortensia first began to date for a lot of reasons, one of which being that he didn’t believe acting was a real job, and he was convinced that Ortensia was just in a rebellious phase, despite her being in her twenties at the time. She ended up cutting contact with him for several decades (Toons can live upwards of like 290 years), but recently he’s reconnected with her and Oswald and is attempting to make amends for the past, because he didn’t want to die estranged from his family.

Homer Whiskers - Ortensia’s little brother. Mischievous and a bit of a trouble maker, the one on the sheet is him as a grown adult. He’s the spitting image of his dad! Inspired by his big sister Orsie (as he calls her), he became a voice actor and a podcast host. He’s a prankster and likes to lovingly torment Oswald. When Ortensia cut contact with J.P., she remained in touch with Homer, much to his relief.

Ortensia Whiskers - The Queen Herself! I decided to put her in green because I think it matches Oswald nicely, and also it’s different than Minnie and Daisy. Ortensia’s a bit shy, but very sweet and kind once you’re able to get past that. She’s no pushover, though- she isn’t afraid to tell people what she thinks, and she’s inherited her fathers’ stubbornness- if she doesn’t like you, you’re gonna have to try really hard to change that. She’d always wanted to be an actress and a mother, and now she’s chasing after both of those dreams. Oswald thinks every atom in her body is a blessing to the planet.

Pinky Whiskers - Ortensia’s mom! She’s an OC, and I don’t know a whole lot about her. I think she probably had a very similar personality to Ortensia before she unfortunately passed away when Homer was born, due to complications with childbirth. J.P. misses her dearly.

im both a digital and traditional artist! im really bad at finishing art though (i start a drawing a move on oops) so posts are few and far between sorry LMAO sometimes i also write fics but those are even further apart HELP sometimes i do textposts when im feeling silly and goofy

My Aus!

im working on some toon aus. one surrounding toby bear n where he and some other toons (julius the cat, oscar the cat, j.p. whiskers, homer whiskers, fanny cottontail, flip the frog) went after the thinner disaster in epic mickey. im thinking about naming it the alice island au since it takes place on the unused alice in wonderland island in epic mickey but im still on the fence about it (will update later if i change it)

and then another one about oswald and bendy and other random toons going missing and losing their memory due to not having any or many fans (this one is a lot more under developed than the other). you might've seen an account with an idea like that in the past (called ozzynbends or something like that) that was mine and an ex friend of mines. ive had that idea for awhile and we gave up on that account but im revamping the au somewhat. its still unnamed. but im always willing to answer questions about it or the other au!!! :))) my asks are always open

Well.. she doesn’t officially have a last name (tho if she did, it would probably be Rabbit since she’s married to Oswald, after all) but her dad’s name is J.P. Whiskers and so I assume Whiskers is their family name. Even though, officially, her name is just plain Ortensia and her little brother is, officially, known as Homer the Cat.

I just like to use Whiskers as her and Homer’s last name, since most of the characters have official last names....why don’t they?

Oswald was trying to get "lucky on a Friday night" as they say and unfortunately things didn't go as planned when he ran into his ex boyfriend down at the train station.

This is partially traced with Ortensia's legs and the speakers although that's about all I remember tracing and I attempted to just reference the original sprites whilst trying to stylize Ortensia, Felix, and Oswald in the poses. I created an entire AU around this idea because well the premise of BF and GF dating without GF's parents' approval reminded me of J.P. whiskers' own hate for Oswald. Also getting funky on a Friday night, getting lucky on a Friday night, it was the perfect play on words.

I did some design sheets for the non-OC toon characters + their OC family members in the Tooniverse and decided to post them :) a few liberties are taken (ie most characters not wearing gloves or shoes because i hate drawing them) but their designs are generally adapted from canon appearances! They’re mostly actors in the Tooniverse, so I’ve also written out what their personalities are like off-screen under the cut :)

Here’s Mortimer, Pete, and Fanny! Fanny’s here because I didn’t know what other characters to stick her with, no other reason.

Mortimer Slicker - Took his last name from the “Mr. Slicker” character in the old old Mickey comics, who was likely Mortimer’s predecessor in terms of character design. Didn’t want him to have the same last name as Mickey and Minnie. Mortimer is still kind of smarmy, but he’s not the sexist sleezeball he is in the shorts he appears in. If you look at his appearance in the “Maybe I’m a Maze” Mickey Mouse Funhouse episode, you can actually get a pretty good idea of how he acts off screen in the Tooniverse. He’s actually Mickey’s brother in law (his sister married Mickey’s sister) and that’s how they met in the first place- Mickey then offered him the spot on the upcoming “Mickey’s Rival” short they were gonna be filming. In the Tooniverse he’s actually a horse-mouse hybrid to explain his long nose and ears, since rat toons don’t exist.

Peter Percival Jr. - Peter Percival Sr. is actually the “Pete” that would appear in Oswald’s old shorts, his father. Yoinked “Percival” from the comics. Like his dad, he was born without his left foot, but that’s never stopped him. Toon tech is advanced enough he could probably get a more realistic prosthetic, but he likes his peg. Off camera he behaves a lot like Buford from Phineas and Ferb- weird and still maybe kind of aggressive, but not an out right jackass. Him and Mortimer are best friends, (And later they get together as a couple) and they’re both inspired by their appearance in the modern Mickey Mouse shorts.

Francine “Fanny” Cottontail - Oswald’s former love interest on his show- not his ex. She was simply an actor trying to get into the industry so she could be a director. I didn’t want to entirely erase her, but I like my Ostensias and didn’t want to mess with that in any way, so this seemed like a good solution! She’s actually the one that encouraged Ortensia to replace her on the show, and then she took up the role of director when the one they had threw a hissy fit about the idea of Oswald suddenly switching love interests. Sassy, kind of crude, honest, but loyal, she’s one of Oswald and Ortensia’s closest friends, having helped them sneak around the unapproving J.P. Whiskers many a time. She’s still a director over at Disney now, and usually works on House of Mouse (which runs for much longer in the Tooniverse) and the modern Mickey shorts. She loves to play match maker.
