The duality of Daybreak will never cease to amaze me. I mean, on one hand, the whole show is basically just a giant shit post. But on the other hand, it touches on some really deep and personal topics. The kind of show that has you crying laughing, if you will.

They'll have this scene with Josh where he's like

I GOTTA CUT OFF MY FINGER MAN I DONT WANNA BE A ZOMBIE

And then Angelica walks in and is like

WHAT THE FUCK MAN THIS ISNT THE WALKING DEAD, THE ZOMBIE BITES DO NOTHING

And Josh is just staring at his severed finger like man oh man.

And one of the best parts is that, yes, they do fuck up. A character makes a decision and maybe it was the wrong one. Maybe actions do have consequences. Sometimes they learn from those mistakes. Sometimes they don't. I like this. It makes it feel like an accurate depiction of a human being.

They show everyone as fucking idiots, but every episode has a different character's backstory, narrated by themselves. It makes you realize that even if you think someone's a dick, sometimes there are things going on in their lives that you just can't know about.

Josh- Josh vs. the Apocalypse Part 1, Schmuck Bait!, Post Mates

One of the things most apparent from Josh's perspective, is that he loves Samaira Dean. All we ever see are good things about her. But as the plot drags on, it starts to become apparent that maybe Josh's narration is unreliable, warped.

Angelica- The Slime Queenpin of Glendale, CA

Angelica's story is a bit funny, bordering on concerning. It's clear however, that she didn't have the best childhood and all she really wants is a friend, or someone who won't leave her behind.

Wesley- Homecoming Redux or My So Called Stunt Double Life

I could go on forever about Wesley's episode, but the main dilemma is that Wesley needs to pick between two people he loves. Sam advises him to ignore both options- to pick himself instead. It really makes you think that he did too. But in the end, he made a decision and now has to live with the guilt of what he did. Present-day, he's faced with a similar situation once again, and he doesn't know how to make the right decision.

Ms. Crumble- Canta Tu Vida

Ms. Crumble was a tragic character. Her backstory reflected that as well. She had so much character growth as the series went on and I was in tears during the finale.

I honestly have no idea what I was originally going for here but at this point it's pretty much just a Daybreak themed mess. Bon appetit.

I wanna know how Turbo became the leader because in the flashbacks it seemed like Hoyles was in charge. Like the hierarchy seemed like Hoyles, Wes, and then Turbo. I know Burr got Hoyles arrested, but like how arrested? Because idk if we see him playing the homecoming game, but the night of the game Wes goes to Turbo’s house and tells him that he takes to Hoyles about Turbo’s dad. He could have gone to the jail to talk to him but nobody except Burr talks about the fact that Hoyles was arrested. And like he’s still alive, so what happened? In the flashbacks without Hoyles, Wes and Turbo are talkin it up, but with Hoyles Turbo says like 2 words?

Before Jaden Hoyles, he never would have done this. If that little prick hadn’t taken things so far--if the bribe hadn’t come up, if Isis hadn’t come up, if the arrest hadn’t happened--Michael never would’ve ended up in this situation. The pep rally was flagging; their fullback had been expelled. School spirit was at an all time low, homecoming was right around the corner, there were budgetary requests to be made and parents to be appeased and teachers to be conferenced and a mountain of other tasks stacked to the point of toppling on Michael’s proverbial plate, but here he was, pep rally and all the rest be damned, briskly walking into Anna’s room. Heart in his throat. She probably says something when he enters, and smiles, like she normally does, but he’s--he’s trying something. Something not altogether like him. He marches up to her and slides one hand behind her head and pulls in her in close and--kisses her. Not tenderly and shy, like his first kiss, not a blushing peck on the lips, but something...an awful lot dirtier. Something nobody here would’ve thought him capable of: no longer the sexless school principal but a man at home with demanding what he wants. She gasps, says something in the moment of breath he stops to take before deepening the kiss, free hand flying to her waist to pull her closer.

And it feels GOOD. It feels NORMAL and RIGHT and like maybe he’s FINALLY GETTING WHAT HE’S DUE.And all thanks to Jaden fucking Hoyles.

“I thought you said you wanted to keep things strictly professional,” she said softly, a small smile on her face. He leaned in a little closer and kissed her again--and again--and one last time--panting now, dizzy with his own power and a little out of breath, before answering her.

“Things change,” he said candidly, pulling back to look at her eyes. Honestly, sometimes it felt like she could see him, they were so focused. He swallowed and wondered if she could. “A lot of things are about to change, actually. And I wanted this one to be the first.”

In my opinion, Sam Dean had so much potential to just be so incredibly annoying with the whole everyone loves her thing. It still does have that potential for s2, but it s1 it wasn’t overused and was funny, like when the two groups were about to kill each other and some jock was like “oh my god!!! Hi Sam!!!! Whatever you say!!” That was FUNNY.

And the everybody loves her, but nobody knows her storyline could be really good in s2. She’s the leader of the jocks, and while it would be kinda tired for yet another one of their leaders to turn out bad, it’d interesting to see her turn out bad instead of the “you don’t know me!!” thing and then she proceeds to just be a nice girl like everyone thinks she is. Also there’s some things she did that could point to her not being this sweet, angelic girl. Like how she fucked Hoyles (that doesn’t make her bad or a slut or anything but he’s very much a not so secretly bad guy), she wasn’t scared of Turbo (which is a bit of a stretch), she enlisted Baron Triumph a child eater to help them, the scene they showed of her being scared of said child eater seemed kinda fake to me, and she just...100% trusted Triumph? Just ate the slime without making him eat it first? That’s a very, very dumb move and from what we’ve seen she’s not dumb.

I could very well be looking too far into this, as I tend to do, but Sam Dean has so much potential. And if they do do this, I think they need to start s2 with a time jump because I think Sam would slowly build up to being more cruel and stuff. If she immediately just acted like Turbo or Triumph it’d be weird.
