This video documents the disappearing languages of the Eastern Maroons of Moore Town, Jamaica. The languages are (i) Kromanti, a language variety related to the Akan language cluster of West Africa, and (ii) Uol Taim Patwa or 'Maroon Spirit Language', a very archaic form of English-lexicon Creole, similar in many ways to the Creole languages of Suriname. The language is presented through Mr Isaac Bernard, one the last culture bearers of the community, with a good command of these languages. The video is part of the Caribbean Indigenous and Endangered Languages website, which is co-sponsored by the Jamaican Language Unit/Unit for Caribbean Language Research, the University of the West Indies, Mona, and UNESCO. http://www.caribbeanlanguages.org.jm
Rude boy is a subculture that originated from 1960s Jamaican street culture.[1] In the late 1970s, there was a revival in England of the terms rude boy and rude girl, among other variations like rudeboy and rudebwoy, being used to describe fans of two-tone and ska. This revival of the subculture and term was partially the result of Jamaican immigration to the UK and the so-called ”Windrush” generation. The use of these terms moved into the more contemporary ska punk movement as well. In the UK and especially Jamaica, the terms rude boy and rude girl are used in a way similar to gangsta, yardie, or badman.[2] - Wikipedia.
Jamaicans, are we ok? Tivoli people uno alright? 👀
This is the SECOND time God is revealing to me something about Tivoli 👀
Stay safe my loves 🇯🇲
PS. I love Elephant Man (nick name Elly🥰) and he’s the only public figure I know from there 👀 He’s always repping his city. Tivoli is dear to this heart.
Also I’ve been seeing a ton of elephants lately. Could this be why? Elephants are highly intelligent and are FAMILY animals. They are super protective of the people they love and will not hesitate to trample on anyone 👀😅🐘
PPS. I forgot the Lord showed me the Jamaican flag flying probably in the air just like he showed me the flag for Greece.
