I was watching back to back spooky like, Appalachian folk tales on youtube and scared tf out of myself so I turned on Jessa's pregnancy Q&A as a palette cleanser. Here are the things I found interesting (cw miscarriage mentions):

- she found out she lost the last baby on Dec 22 and that's also this new baby's due date. She says she gets a lot of comfort from that.

- she's planning another hospital birth (thank GOD) and doubles down on her love for epidurals. She says she even inquired about getting one for post partum cramps

- she says she toyed with the idea of having a gender reveal this time but decided her tradition of waiting to tell people was better (I agree)

- she says Ben had told her he's not concerned with having more kids as much as he is with her health and mental well being as a stay at home mom to lots of them.

- Jessa adds to that and says while she still believes kids are a blessing, she doesn't believe that "accumulating" a "maximum quantity" of blessings should trump giving the kids you have a good quality of life. She believes the Bible communicates that as well so that is her primary intention. She also doesn't believe it's a sin to "manage" your blessings (aka pregnancies I'm assuming) and says that's something she's considered for the future (pleasantly surprised by all of it).

- She says she sometimes struggles with the fear that she "has all these kids" and they won't grow up to follow The Lord, but that she doesn't let that particular fear keep her from having them (she said all that good stuff before and then lost me again).

- She says the number of kids she and Ben have envisioned having has gotten smaller and smaller as the years go on. She doesn't want to make a definitive decision while she's pregnant and uncomfy, but she said her idea of a "big family" has gone from like 8 kids to maybe 5 max.

Semantic games serve only to obscure the truth. There is no ethical concern with doing a D&C following fetal demise, because there is no life to save except the mother’s. The child, tragically, has already died. Removing their body — and the rest of the associated products of conception — from the womb is no more ethically fraught than having to remove uterine fibroids or a too-attached placenta following a delivery.

A D&C procedure, in and of itself, is morally neutral. It becomes problematic only when it is used as a tool of violent destruction. Elective abortion involves the intentional snuffing out of a unique human life. A D&C used to kill a preborn human is very different from a D&C used to remove an already dead body.

good for jessa honestly! she has 4 kids rn + the new pregnancy, right? im happy for her kids, especially her girls to grow up with more parental attention and lack of sister mommings

Agreed! I really hope she's being genuine. As a mom to so many young kids I'm sure she's realized just how much attention and energy each one needs to thrive, and maybe that's made her reevaluate her parents philosophy on family planning lol. I know as a newlywed she was very much a "as many kids as The Lord gives us!" kind of person.

There's a part of that video where she's talking about having kids and being afraid they won't end up Christian that almost canceled out all the good stuff she said for me, though. In my opinion, part of a child's quality of life includes having an unconditional support system, and the way she was talking about it sounded very conditional, like very JB and Michelle-esque. I could totally be wrong but it does suck to think that she would have all these kids and be completely intolerant if they decided to follow a different spiritual path in any kind of way. Or even cut them off completely just like her parents have done.

But she has grown a little bit in the spirituality area over the years, hopefully that trend continues for the sake of her family.

Breaking News: Baby Seewald is here

On December 19th of 2023 Jessa welcomed her 5th child, another boy. He weighted almost 10 pounds. His name is George Augustine Seewald. He joins momma Jessa Lauren, Dad Benjamin Michael, brothers Spurgeon Elliott, Henry Wilberforce, sisters Ivy Jane and Fern Elliana.
