Okay so I cosplayed Johnny D’Ville for Halloween (as one does when they just want to be a feral space pirate and can’t pull off the absolute god tier hair of Gunpowder Tim) and none of my friends are Mechanisms fans and the #1 question I got was why the face lightning and I realized……I don’t know? I just said that I believed it was a side effect of the Mechanizing process Dr Camilla put them through as Tim also has some and a each Mechanism’s appearance did slightly change but…most of their appearances changed surrounding their Mechanism?

Like…..

Johnny (heart): Exposed mechanical heart in some costumes

Tim (eyes): Mechanical looking lines from his eyes, occasionally glasses on

Ashes (lungs): Nothing visible usually (occasionally eye lines as well but as those aren’t as constant I’m not considering them)

Brian (everything except heart): Full plating etc, occasionally visible heart

Ivy (brain): not seen but position reflects it?

Raphaella (wings): …self explanatory

Marius (arm): visible arm

Soooooo is Johnny canonically just putting on eye makeup every day because he’s angsty like that and thinks it will better terrify his victims? Or, if its a permanent part of him, why? Why is he the only one? Did I miss a show that explained this or something?
