Who are they?

The year is 5016U and you are a dying planet. Time is not your friend. Not while you continue to rot from the core, not while your people remain silent and indifferent to the invasion. ALRIGHT DRAMATICS OUT THE WAY HIIIII, i really like this campaign ok.. i can't do it any justice but. the worldbuilding is heart wrenching and within it, is our team. we're the final stand of a dying planet, and honestly? truthfully? we're the worst fucking lancers to be forced on a team, let alone save a whole planet. we all got grouped in together following the introduction of Helios, an extremist group who follows the orders of the Oracle. one of which is. well. destroying this entire planet bit by bit. an entire city is wiped off the face of Bo because of them, and we're in the middle of it. by what seems by sheer circumstances, a Union mission that strictly involved using Lancers to keep the peace at a charity event, becomes a tie to the baronies that exist there, and the horrible force they've managed to keep under wraps. helios is hellbent on wreaking havoc on this world, and we've been tasked to keep it under control - to find out what the threat is, and get rid of it before it's too late. or we'll be here. again. forever. the group includes Yves, an unusually charming old man with sinister intentions and an even fucking meaner spirit, Tellius, an unlucky, exasperated fighter with a streak of vengeance for the people who wronged him, Kass, an aloof and frankly disinterested mechanic who takes it easy on every account, Jeurgen, an enigmatic someone. an amnesiac with nothing but a mech to his name - at least that's what it seemed like at first, until recent campaign events. the final person is Kurushii, the newest addition! we don't know him very well, besides that he kind of just. appeared on the battlefield. a cold whistling tune and a mad dash, and suddenly, he's there. this is all they know... together? team's a mess. barely functions out of battle, barely works as a group. yves hates all of them, telly and yves DONT get along, neither does kass and yves, and jeurgen thinks everyone and everything is meaningless and sucks....... sigh....... every other second we're not in battle, we're arguing... but yeah :) they are sillay!!!!! i hope you like them as much as i do.

Who are they?

The town of Anchor Bay lives in fear of a gang who cause nothing but trouble around town. At least, that's what the other townsfolk think. In reality, this so-called gang is just a group of friends who like to hang out and often end up causing chaos in the small bay town. Oh, and they all have cool nicknames, given to them by their "leader", Sharky, who really enjoys playing into the whole gang thing. No special, fantastical gimmicks; just a bunch of adults being goofy, roughly 8 years from now.

he's around 30 give or take (nobody knows for sure since he was artificially made) and he has 6 fingers, 4 eyes, point ears, and a few other features :3 he's a cis bi guy and yeah. stoner and stupid. very prone to saying dumbass shit & completely missing social norms because he's so used to literally being in a lab. but he's trying cooper's overall a really sweet dude and he's very affectionate - i think of him as a big lazy dog. he's not quick at all to anger or anything but he's defensive when need be but tends to just Hang About. hes my baba and i love him ok. he's kind of a piece of shit stoner and all that but who's counting. he's friendly enough and very sillay to me

to me that depends like. when they get together. as ive said before, i mostly ship them post-canon and i have my silly au with their getting together scene written out, when theyre both seniors in high school (i know people havent read that LOL so to summarize - scary realizes that she has a really bad crush on normal and does her absolute best to ignore it. one night theyre hanging out along because lincoln&taylor are on a date and normals complaining about how hes never going to find love, and then he turns it on her, poking her about how come she isnt dating anyone. she basically confesses but due to normal being oblivious, he thinks she has a crush on taylor, and shes so stunned by that that she just kisses normal to get her point across. theyre SILLAY)

but thats boring, ive already done it (joke i still love it), so i wanna talk about if they got together closer to canon. like at the end of this season, starting around where we are now (hopefully with minimal spoilers LOL)!! to start - i always like scary crushing on normal first. it just makes me happy. but ive always written scary confessing to normal, so i think it would be fun to reverse that

like scary gets this crush on normal, probably around the time he comforts her in the Meat Room (😂); hes always so sweet to her despite everything, he always goes out of his way for her, and she cant help but fall for it. she buries those feelings because they feel so inappropriate- theyre trying to save dood, and on a more personal level, her step-dad just died, she cant think about it, theres too much going on. but shes sitting on those feelings and normal just keeps being nice to her and its getting to her. and in turn, normal realizes he has a crush on her in return when she tries to hug him when he goes back to the mascot costume. like scary, hes way too overwhelmed with everything to even really think about it, and hes a little convinced that she doesnt really even like him as a friend, that the hug was just pity, but the crush is still there. normal has never been good at denying his feelings, he knows its there, and its killing him too

and so they have that super like, YA novel romance subplot where theres tension building between them, and theyre utterly unaware that the other person likes them back, and they have so much going on that pursuing anything would be stupid. but theyre teens and theyre hormonal so they cant just ignore it, and they keep having these awkward moments of getting flustered and everyone around them is like "😐... what are they doing."

and it eventually comes out in the climax of everything. normal is completely set on sacrificing himself, because thats who he is, he wants to martyr himself so fucking badly all the time bgjdbfghbhfbdhj and scary is fed up trying to talk him down and she ends up hitting him with something like, "i thought you wanted to get together with hermie or whatever, youre just throwing that away now?" "i kind of got over that awhile ago, scary." "then why have you still been acting like such a loser lately?!" [pause] "because i wanted to get together with you instead." and scary is just STUNNED and he takes that chance to run off and try and enact his plan. and inevitably he survives because like i said. YA novel romance subplot ghjbfdghbfdhj and scary runs to his side and theyre basically just yelling at each other about everything, scary is relieved and also furious, normal is mortified that he dropped a confession and bailed but also so thankful hes alive, and then at some point in their yelling they end up kissing instead--

media that promises high sexual content (in this context nukige) attempting serious, high stakes plots will all predictably suffer from the same issue of not knowing how to cohesively develop the story aspect and the sex aspect. even a good writer that can integrate sex into plot progression will struggle with transitioning character building moments (casual interaction, isolated contemplation, monologues, etc) and the introduction of plot elements into sex scenes in a way that doesn't break one's immersion in the former two. it's a difficult issue to work around because conventional eroge will have sex scenes as a reward for story progression while with nukige, the upfront sex is the selling point. a character drama mediated by sex will be super easy to work with, but what about a globe spanning cataclysmic chuuni plot that weaves politics, religion, philosophy and multiple factions with competing nonsexual interests into its ever expanding stakes? a strange thing to want to see realized in The Sex Game Genre. it ultimately leaves titles that adopt this approach to storytelling 2 options: having a character go "this huge existential crisis can be solved with my peanus (and you have to take me seriously)", or having a family guy styled cutaway to random people having sex.

the game that the person in that review was writing about was mostly the second, so you would have the writer dumping paragraphs worth of text about eros and agape, the nature of suffering and survival before hitting you with a "Meanwhile..." and cutting to some messy thing. there were actually 2 characters who existed for sex scenes alone, simply so the main cast could continue with the plot (not that the main cast was above being subject to the family guy cutaway treatment, either). the game deeply wants you to acknowledge its story, the trailer for it emphasizes the atmosphere and gritty tone above all else; yet, I can't go "if only there was a realta nua type release where the sexual content was better balanced" because even in all it's larger than lifeness, the story still kind of only survives off of it's smaller character moments. the protagonists relationship in the true route was sweet, the raw feeling of struggle and hopelessness in the last arc are well conveyed, the fight scenes and body horror were actually cool and I was vested in the dilemmas of the side characters. at the same time, the philosophical elements meander meaninglessly quite a bit, the political commentary is trite at best, some characters werent as fleshed out as they should have been and I still am left with questions about major story elements that were just kind of left hanging. the game's thesis re: love is transparently lifted from madoka alongside many, many other elements (who could have seen that coming...), which is less a criticism and more an observation. the only reason I know of this game is because of how hard they amped up and marketed the nonsexual elements (not deceptively though lol it's quite obvious what you were getting into), so I feel bamboozled coming out of it underwhelmed. especially since a lot of it's content isn't stuff I would normally seek out -_-

TBH I was a bit anxious sending the ask; due to the nature of online discourse and its lack of verbal/tonal/nonverbal cues, sometimes it's hard to immediately differentiate between a good-faith suggestion from a bad-faith tear-down, and I was worried about getting roasted, even as an anon, for being perceived as the second. Aw, of course. :) I've received bad faith asks on this topic, and I find you can tell them apart (they're usually pretty inflammatory and accusatory) but even if I'd taken your ask badly, I would've just deleted it. It's just not that helpful to yell at a random person on the internet. I've never been a fan of people answering "bad faith" posts by clowning on them, it just feels like irony-poisoned low hanging fruit attention grabbing, not to mention if someone IS spewing bullshit, why would you ever share it around? Just to be sillay? You can be sillay without answering hate asks that contain misinformation or bigotry.

yohamaru. other people had their gay awakenings to nozoeli but nooo i was an aqours fan i had to latch onto these weirdos when i was in 8th grade. anyway they have it ALL and it astonishes me that they’re not more popular. the childhood friends reunited. the jokey banter. the fact that hanamaru is DEFINITELY also a little weird but people don’t notice. the fact that their voices sound so good together and we deserve a duo song...is it really possible for a choir girl and a twitch streamer to be in a relationship... i truly believe that even if hanamaru teases yoshiko sometimes she truly believes that she’s the coolest person EVER. hanamaru sees that her old best friend is going through a warriors phase and demanding to be called ‘ravenstar’ and just goes god she’s still so awesome. they watch horror movies together and yoshiko cowers behind hanamaru the whole time while hanamaru considers the artistic merit of the plot. i think they are nonbinary lesbianisms together.

kanamaridia. similar to chikayouriko in that people constantly leave dia out even though she’s so important to the dynamic.. i think they all got ‘married’ as kids and none of them have really let it go and they really can’t imagine the real deal happening in any other way. it’s always been the three of them.

honokotoumi. very similar in backstory to kanamaridia but they’re a lot stupider about it. i think kotoumi are a lot more obvious but honoka is the glue that holds them together. they all complement each other very well.

youruby: i think this could be cute. they have personalities that mesh well together and i think they’d have a lot of fun just hanging out.

rubyleah. it’s fun! i feel like they have a lot of parallels and differences that work out in a nice way, but also i feel like leah didn’t have enough screen time to get me invested in this. i also hc ruby as arospec so i think it’d take more time than they got for her to develop feelings for anyone.

rikomaki. red hair pianists. it’s cute. this is the only cross-group relationship i’ll even consider just because it’s fun.

yohariko. i actually really dislike this romantically for some reason, but by GOD their friendship is SO fucking fun. the two people you wouldn’t ever really think could be besties just end up clicking. i mean EVERYONE in aqours is friends but they usually stay within their ‘years’ yknow? it’s nice to see. i think they’re supportive forces in each other’s lives and help each other stay grounded and live a little respectively. people probably assume they’re dating bc of how close they become, but they aren’t. if anyone asks riko probably just starts laughing, which yoshiko acts very offended about.

rubymaru. this is?? kind of pushed as much as yohamaru is but i just don’t see it as anything but platonic. i think it’s also kinda boring and does a disservice to both of their characters. i like them as friends a lot but i feel like they’re more interesting when there’s other characters to interact with. i like maru being the kind of friend that encourages ruby to be more confident. emotional support hanamaru that helps her just. order a drink. ruby calls hanamaru at like 12 at night to ask for ideas for costumes and hanamaru always picks up.

nicomaki. I KNOWWWW they push it so hard in everything they put them in but the age gap bothers me. i think a lot of people look past it because maki is very mature and collected and nico is. nico. and the dynamic could be cute. but. idk  a lot of people gloss over the fact that maki is 15 and nico is 17. they’re still really good as friends.

every other relationship i haven’t mentioned. they’re all best friends to me.

very funny one sided:

ruby having a one-sided crush on kanan would be SO funny. the ‘older sister’s cool boyfriend’ effect. ruby admires her strength and carefree attitude a lot, but i think she gets over it pretty quickly and comes to see her as a friend that she just looks up to.

for masa there was actually a big reason! i forgot most of it, but what i DO remember is i took her original name (alavistora or something), minced it up and slapped some nice-sounding names to it (with random gibberish) and thus masarath was born!

for qeum'e it was just sorta something that popped into my head while i was thinking of the void language i was tryna make (i've since abandoned it but w/e) it was mostly just "what kind of name is totally unpronouncable" and then i made. that. i like how there's 70 different ways of pronouncing it. sillay

zismith is...... uh. mostly random letters but also smith hehe bc q used to be arson snail. yay!

w/ zismith it's sorta weird. like obviously they have a sibling relationship and they're best friends but around the start of humaliens their relationship starts falling in and out of Being. near the end of humaliens they'll definitely be friends again but before that it's a really rocky road. she doesnt like his friends and he wishes she would get out more type deal

q doesn't have many thoughts on her other than "zis's cool younger sister" and masa feels aaabout the same tbh. they stream together sometimes but outside of streaming they aren't super duper close

there's a currently unnamed and underdeveloped oc i have who was masa's coworker before masa became a magical girl and they have. tons of thoughts on her. "a hard worker, a good friend, funny and sweet and also really really really shy. needs to get out of her shell more, should hang out with me more. i think she an i should hang out more-" yeah her coworker is fuckign gay.

describe their canon dynamic - their dynamic is like "just a cringefail pathetic guy who cares a lot abt the kid he's taking care of as she came from not having a good family. both of them bicker at times but still care abt each other along w/ the kid he cares abt, he also cares abt his ai eyeball too as both of them have a deeper bond together"

ideal/headcanon version of dynamic - my ideal ver of their dynamic is just them hanging out as family together along w/ doing sillay activities as one and always looking out to each other! it's mostly kinda the same as the canon ver but a bit different as half of it is just * me rewriting aini's issues on how they've handled those charas so bad by just making them hate on date for no reason all the time and no genuine fun moments between them along w/ date's characterization being so Messed up by it *

what do i like abt the dynamic - what i rlly love abt their dynamic is both of the charas in the dynamic caring abt each other as they've genuinely do tried their best to look out for each other. w/ date and mizuki's dynamic, i rlly enjoy abt date doing the best he can to provide as much love and care to mizuki as mizuki came from a family that doesn't care abt her at all and date doing everything he can to give her a life that's filled w/ happiness. w/ date and aiba's dynamic, aiba always looks out to him during their journey together on the case helping him out and provides care for him when both dealing at a difficult time in the case

individual characters + what does the dynamic mean to them - what the dynamic means to date when it comes to mizuki and aiba are people that he does care abt a lot, as he sees those two as one of the important people to him he wants to protect. it makes their dynamic rlly unique for me to enjoy abt as i enjoy everything abt the dynamic of these charas + what do they view their dynamic with each other as by showcasing that view, showing their thoughts together on what the people in it means a lot to them

favorite interaction in canon - when they were praying at the shrine together at the end of mizuki route as one of my fav interactions! for mizuki + date; every single moment of the hospital scene + date's somnium AND also "welcome home date" line. got me crying so bad abt those two they're FAMBILY !!!!!! for date + aiba; the "i hate you aiba and i never want to see you again" scene o(-( also got me crying a lot abt those two and also "im home" "welcome back" scene too at the credits WAAAAAA

favorite interaction they have in my head/situation i'll put them in - my fav interactions w/ them in my head are funny moments where aiba and mizuki make fun of date's cringefail moments messing around w/ him! the situation i'll put them in is a scenario of them hanging out as family together w/ genuine care moments and just sillay goofy family stuff

I'm Six. Ex-pokemon trainer who works in the slateport city pokemon contest hall. i dont battle much anymore and am just tried. quit after getting all 8 honen badges i just wasn't enjoying it anymore. my pokemon and I are adjusting to not being on the move constantly.

Galexy: Shiny Espeon, i got her as an eevee in a trade. shes my service pokemon and I have papers so she can always be at my side even when I have six other pokemon. shes sillay

Salex: A female Fraxure. She requries a lot of extra work since we aren't always working off her engery battling. Her tusk is cracked so we have to be very careful in general.

Miva: Female Mismagius. She perfers to stay at home thankfully. I love her but her species is known for their curses lol

Koi: Male Seabass. He hangs out in his tank when I'm home. Otherwise he's in his pokeball or out on the beach with me. Not opposed to being carried around but he prefers the water. (duh.)

Duke: Male Aggron. Big guy who loves to be pet. Makes a great spot for Galexy to sleep on.

actually. more destiny au because im feeling silly and also i just found the google doc i wrote on this and im feeling shrimp emotions.

i made tommy a human hunter who was just a city kid who wilbur basically adopted and constantly snuck into the tower to annoy wilbur n hang out in the hanger. and then he fuckfgn DIES during the red war and is resurrected shortly before the events of forsaken augfhu. HIS GHOST'S NAME IS CLEMENTINE IM ENDING IT ALL

(the answer is commit so many crimes). i also think tommy makes fun of ranboo and tubbo for using void since he is an arcstrider hunter lol. tubbo uses the stag btw. purely for aesthetic reasons btw im a warlock main i know the stag sucks ass LMAO. also i made ranboo interested and knowledgeable in hive magic bc we stay sillay. and tubbo met ranboo through this way because he was trying to research hive magic to see if he could revive tommy augh. AND TUBBO GOT HIS BURN SCARS TRYING TO SAVE TOMMY WHILE HIS GHOST WAS DISCONNECTED FROM THE LIGHT AND SPENT THE REST OF THE RED WAR AT THE FARM TRYING TO HEAL SHFJASDHBJ OWOWOW

philzer and techno <33 two old geezers who have been around forever and don't care for the politics of the city but work to protect it anyways. they work as a duo and try to fight the darkness head on as they both have a distaste for the prospect of cowering behind walls. but phil fell in love with a human mechanic/pilot (kristin <3) in the tower and now techno bullies him for being old and in love <3 they are each others best friends in the whole universe and they fight very well together, very synchronized and always watching each others back. i like to think they have a move where they are able to swap each other's super weapons, i mean how terrifying would it be to see a hunter with burning maul and a titan with a golden gun lol

ert ert ert ert my baby my darling my awoken warlock who doesn't remember being apart of awoken court but feels a draw to the reef and the dreaming city anyways. she is always lead by her intuition and while she tries to stay logical her pull towards awoken inhabited lands is something she just can't ignore. being a well known guardian though everyone sees her leave and go on these longer and longer missions to the reef and after forsaken, the dreaming city and they feel as though she is abandoning the city in it's time in need. including her best friend who feels she is personally abandoning him in his time of need after the death of tommy. wilbur is also manipulated by the witness into believing he can bring tommy back because he disappears for a while and doesn't see tommy resurrected as a guardian (but tommy has no memories anyways and it would hurt worse to see him like that)

anyways stick your hand through the bars of my cage please i want to add more characters and flesh out this au more (maybe even tweak/chnage a couple things)

revving up the Preemptive Hopes To Be Disappointed like maybe we're getting a shot for once in our lives of winston Reacting to whatever drama meeting taylor & rian are having to establish a later scene where rian talks with winston one on one for moral support / sharing of info, even seeking of input who knows, b/c they are enough of Friends For Real for that kind of thing

a) we can't assume at any given time a serious character will treat winston as they would another serious character, though it does happen, if even only for Part of any given scene, but the real "this can't happen" is b) that so far it seems to basically be a rule that anything that hinges on / centers on winston Cannot Have Solid Payoff That Also Involves Him, unless it only involves him peripherally providing plot devicely setup for someone else's shit that then branches away from him entirely

however, shoutout to a real hot streak of winston kind of almost having friendships, most solidly kicked off back in 6x07 there, where we can only surmise that there was some point where rian & winston wearily hung up after fielding whatever calls, look at each other, and take their co coffee break there where they commiserate until winston helpfully provides a heads up that taylor's coming (haha rian's heard that from him before) and then they both manage [sell taylor on helping them out with this, for real] together better than either could alone, and then also they go to the soiree and spontaneously toast each other =] then even in next ep w/winston's nominal presence, rian just w/o filter immediately looks to him for moral support and they both get humored at a fairly small amount of their own [getting sillay] energy, then they're both elsewhere / unsupervised for an episode, then rian knows of & gets sucked into winston's media analysis obsession b/c he's like "fun fact: tfw we're all cursed & in hell, right? right" like yeah winston Would relate b/c he Is kind of cursed in his own universe here, then the two of them are hanging out outside work about it and having discussions / figuring it out together? even with no payoff b/c this is dropped like a rock for shit with, appropriately, little to no certain setup for rian, Extraordinary Stuff. then last episode where winston's morally supporting tuk and going off with him and who knows how much further mutual moral support occurred in the course of casual efforts to casually get laid. likewise remarkable, and i'm remarking as hell

anyways that's to say it'd be cool if we got a proper scene that's a one on one between rian and winston operating on the premise that they're really genuinely friends, because also i have no clue what tf them being very much established as a duo is supposed to be about, except that they're lively together and rian will pwn him sometimes, but anyone could and will do that, so idk why she has any especial reason for it, if she does at all and it's not just "oh she's just around him a lot to even say these things in the first place, but anybody would" like idk but enough is enough, the problem is that anyone could dunk on winston but rian is in a prime position to be his friend and not everyone else is certainly, like how nobody else is anywhere near as close to being rian's friend as winston is, and what the hell of it? i have no idea what the hell was of making sure we know that winston has had, or just had, a crush, except to pwn him and me personally i guess, since the joke is [before 5x05 i specifically said a romantic arc could be a rewarding opportunity for writing that sympathizes with winston / treats him seriously but that i figured the writers would just make it a joke at his expense so i'd rather they not bother if so; that when 5x05 through 07 happened, i thought against all odds it Was treating winston seriously; and now gradually realizing it might just have been a joke at his expense b/c i guess it's inherently funny if he doesn't realize he's too much of an (autistic) nerd to have feelings he thinks are just as real and serious as everyone else's, which everyone else knows is wrong] or whatever. but if that's going nowhere anyways, which is more likely than not especially if we complete Another season w/no further indication it wasn't a joke about winston being so ridiculous that he thinks he's allowed to have a crush, why then have it be that the quants have Some connection, but winston's not even like, able to have an actual friend, i would like to think winston can have that without it being a huge joke if he thinks it's possible he's not just Sometimes tolerated, but like [all precedent involving him] and that i would've also thought he could have a crush without the fact apparently there should've been a laugh track over all of it

anyways perfect conclusion coz it's like "it's not gonna happen but Oh to have a scene in the season finale that's an exclusive rian & winston convo where you have to understand they're genuinely friends, thus firmly establishing that context for (some) past & future material," this series if

just finished putting the boys in their new cage! patrick is losing his silly little mind & running absolute everywhere. is there a rat equivalent of the guinea pig popcorn or the rabbit binky (both are a happy little twist/jump thing they do when gettin sillay)? bc he does that. david has been feeling a lot better, eating more & being a lot more active over the past 3 days since starting meds, but as predicted he is a little more apprehensive about exploring. he took a look around but now he's hanging out on the first floor in the same orb from the old cage. he is generally more reserved, & it makes sense when confronted with such a big space to be overwhelmed & want to be somewhere small. they have both stepped on the wheel & moved it a little but haven't figured it out yet. maybe they will maybe they won't; it's fine bc it's big enough to last them into adulthood, & there's plenty of room for it to stay in the cage even if they don't use it. patrick seems to be liking the crinkly ferret tunnel, the hammock, & the whole 4th/top floor in general. i put in the litterbox & used a different bedding from the rest of the cage but he already threw it all out. 😂 i'll post more photos & videos later.
