Team 7 prepares to leave on a escorting mission to the Land of the Waves. Something easy and safe... or is it?
Prev / Next
Background Info:
So Iruka didn’t actually adopt Naruto (he’s barely over 20) but since they were always together and Naruto would more often than not spend the night at his place, at some point they just started living together.
And I have two ideas to how this went down... Either Iruka prepared the extra bedroom for Naruto in secret around the time he entered in the academy as a present or celebration or... Iruka finally got tired of sleeping in the sofa everytime Sasuke and Sakura came over and took over his bed. (Because team 7 has sleepovers at each others’ places like weekly)
Itachi is here, yeah! I have some future plans for the rest of the Akatsuki and some Uchihas, but for now basically there was no Uchiha massacre. Many of them died in the previous war fighting for the village which gave them a pretty good reputation.
Also the clan is not so big that they need a whole neighborhood just for them, though they all still live pretty close together, and Sasuke’s parents still died around that same time, leaving just the two brothers.

Rock Tunnel Face-Off
Words: 2,668
Pokemon AU- Evolution (Lol)
Characters: Hatake Kakashi, Uchiha Obito (Minor Rin and Gai. Mentioned Asuma and Kurenai)
@alumort (I'm so sorry T.T) @abyssaldespair
Stealing Pokemon was the lowest someone could go. To think that they had the right to snatch away another trainer’s partner and try to make them their own. It was despicable.
Kakashi had always known that Root was full of the worst type of people, but he’d never realized they were willing to stoop to stealing until Obito had called him up asking for help to track down two of Root's operatives who had stolen his Charmander.
His partner Pokemon. The one he’d caught himself in Professor Senju’s lab before beginning his Pokemon journey.
Kakashi didn’t waste a second in catching the next train back to Lavender town where Obito told him to meet up, and he’d made sure to call in some backup on the way just in case they needed it.
Turns out, they had definitely needed it. As soon as they headed into the Rock Tunnel where Obito said he’d seen the Root Operatives run off to, they were greeted by more than just the two that had battled Obito and promptly snatched away his Charmander.
There were at least twelve Root Operatives littering the Tunnel, and every single one of them came running when Tatsuma saw his opponents coming and called for backup.
“Give him back!” Obito screamed while Gai and Asuma tried to keep him from running straight at Tatsuma who was standing directly between him and his Charmander while some other operatives restrained the tiny fire Pokemon.
“I told you, we’ll be needing him,” Tatsuma dismissed Obito’s demand with a shrug. “We have a duty to protect Kanto and to do that we need as many Pokemon as we can get our hands on.”
“Protect Kanto?” Kakashi hissed. “There’s not a single thing you morons have ever done to protect the region, and even if that was your goal why would we leave it up to you?”
“Trusting you lot with Kanto’s safety would be the worst idea,” Asuma agreed as he held his arm around Obito’s waist and dug his heels into the ground. “Besides, stealing a trainer’s Pokemon is the exact opposite of ‘protecting’”
“Sometimes sacrifices have to be made for the greater good,” Tatsuma bit back. “Now why don’t you children run along? There are adult matters that I need to deal with.”
“We’re not leaving without Charmander,” Kakashi insisted.
“In that case, I guess we’ll have to force you to leave,” lifting his left hand, he signaled to the other operatives to spread out and quickly followed those orders. In just a second every single one of them moved from their position behind Tatsuma and created a circle around the kids, blocking them in.
“Well, this could be a problem,” Rin glanced Kakashi's way. “What do we do now?”
“Why are you asking me?”
“You’re the leader in this operation.”
“I thought Obito was the leader!?” He argued, not wanting the responsibility of getting his friends out of this placed onto his shoulders even though he knew he’d already accepted that responsibility when they called them in to help.
“Kakashi!” turning his attention to Obito, he cringed when he saw him staring at him with a stern, desperate expression in his eyes. “What do we do?”
Every single one of his friends was now staring at him, waiting for him to decide what they were going to do next. Whether he wanted to be or not, they’d selected him as the team leader and it was his responsibility to get them all out of this unscathed.
He only hoped he could manage it.
“Fine,” examining the situation, he put together and quick plan and pointed at Asuma. “You and Kurenai together against the four morons closest to you. Rin and Obito, you’ll take the four near the wall. Gai,”
“Yosh!” Pumping a fist up into the air, Gai smiled at his Hitmonlee. “Are you ready to win?”
“Hit!”
“Good,” Kakashi turned to Tatsuma and the three operatives standing around him. They were the ones that they needed to get through in order to get to Charmander. “This should be easy for us.”
“Easy?” Grabbing a Pokeball off of his hip, Tatsuma chucked it into the air. Out sprang a Sandslash that immediately squared up when Jolteon jumped out in front of Kakashi. “I’m about to teach you a lesson in manners, brat.”
“Oh sorry,” Beside him Gai snickered, far too used to Kakashi’s terrible arrogance to not know what was about to be said. “I only take lessons from talented trainers, not losers who have to steal other people’s Pokemon to buff up their own team.”
“Why, you- Sandslash use crush claw!”
Winning had been, as expected, easy.
Kakashi and Gai barely broke a sweat taking care of their opponents Pokemon and their friends seemed to be having an equally easy time in their own battles. Before long every single Root operative found themselves out of usable Pokemon.
Twelve adults versus six kids, and they’d been thoroughly defeated.
Kakashi would feel sorry for them, but they’d brought it on themselves. If they had simply given Charmander back without a fight they would have been able to keep their dignity intact.
“Now,” Jolteon returned to his side, her bright yellow fur dirty but not a single scratch on her. “Give Charmander back.”
Gripping his last Pokeball in his hand, Tatsuma growled. “You think you’re so good,” he hissed, signaling to one of the operatives standing behind him. “You win a few Pokemon battles and suddenly you’re on top of the world. Is that it?”
Feet pounded against the ground as every single operative except Tatsuma began to run, all of them heading to the south, in the direction of Lavender Town.
“Guys,” a terrible feeling settled into Kakashi’s gut. Something bad was about to happen and if they didn’t get out of there soon they were going to be trapped in it. “Get out.”
“But Kakashi-” Asuma stepped forward to argue.
“Get out, now!” He screamed, and without a second thought, every single one of them turned to run as Tatsuma chucked his Pokeball into the air.
“Voltorb!” he called out, his voice growing distant as Kakashi waved his way past rocks in a desperate attempt to make it to the exit. “Self Destruct!”
The entire cave rocked with the explosion, sending everyone crashing to the ground as pieces of the cave roof started to fall all around them. “A cave-in,” he whispered, scanning the area for his friends.
Asuma and Kurenai were safe, already helping each other up and on their way toward Rin. Beside him, Gai was halfway up with Hitmonlee’s help and Jolteon was already on her feet ready to go. The only one left was Obito.
No matter where he looked, Kakashi couldn’t find him.
He wasn’t at Rin’s side, which was where he should have been since they had fought together, and he wasn’t lying somewhere nearby recovering from his fall.
He was nowhere in sight.
“Charmander!” Rin called out, panic etched into her facial features when everyone looked her way. “Obito must have gone back for Charmander! He’s still back there!”
He’s still back there.
Looking back where they had come from, Kakashi felt his stomach drop. Tatsuma had set off a huge explosion that was causing the cave to collapse around them and Obito was still back there, surrounded by enemy trainer’s with no backup.
They’d left him behind.
“Go!” He ordered, waving his friends off as he clambered to his feet “Get out of here!”
“But, Kakashi!”
“Go!” he didn’t turn back to look at them, too afraid that he’d waste precious time that couldn’t be sacrificed. “We’ll be out! I’ll get him!”
I have to get him.
The group hadn’t gotten far before the explosion went off, but with all of the falling rubble, Kakashi felt like he was fighting to get back to another city. Every step he took was blocked off by more rubble, and even though he would have been able to see Obito from his original position before the explosion, there was too much in the way now. Beside him he could see Jolteon running, keeping pace with every step he took and effortlessly dodging the rocks that fell from the ceiling.
“Charmander!” Hearing his friend call out to his Pokemon, Kakashi weaved around a large piece of rock that had fallen in the explosion and squinted. There was dust everywhere impeding his view, but as it began to settle he finally caught sight of Obito. There, not too far in front of him, his friend sat kneeling on the ground beside a large wall of rocks. A wall that seemed to perfectly block them off from the other side of the cave. “Charmander! Just hold on I- I’ll find a way!”
Making his way toward his friend, Kakashi cringed when he saw the scene in front of him. What he had thought was a wall separating Obito from his precious Pokemon, was instead something that could only be described as a grave.
Under the rubble, there were two visible bodies, or at least what was left of their bodies.
Charmander's arm, which was clasped in Obito’s hand, and a bright red metal piece which had been crushed under the wall. If he had to take a guess, he’d say it was the Voltorb that had been instructed to cause all of this havoc.
A Pokemon who’d simply followed its trainer's orders and paid for it with its own life.
“Obito…” coming to a stop behind his friend, he cringed. The sight was worse than he could ever have imagined, and he knew without a doubt that it would be a hard thing to forget.
“I’m coming, I just have to get Charmander out,” Obito insisted, though his hands never moved to try and push the rocks away or dig out the Pokemon. “I need to save him. I promised.”
Even as the words fell from his lips, Obito continued to sit there holding Charmander's paw in his hands. His brain told him to do one thing, but his body refused to budge even as the cave continued to collapse around them.
“Obito, he-”
“He’s here,” his friend insisted, his voice cracking. “He’s right here, I just have to get him out.” If Kakashi looked at his face he was sure he’d see tears spilling down his cheeks, and for once he wouldn’t roll his eyes and tell Obito to stop being such a crybaby.
For once, Obito had every right to cry.
“Obito, we need to get out of here,” he insisted, grunting when a small rock bounced off of his shoulder. “The cave isn’t going to hold up much longer. If we don’t go now-”
“No!” Obito screamed. “No, I can’t leave him! I can’t let him-”
“He’s already gone!'' Gripping his friend's shoulder, Kakashi tried to pull him back but was instead forced to watch as Obito turned around and tackled him to the ground. His back hit the floor hard, knocking the wind right out of him as Obito sat himself down on his waist.
Jolteon jumped into action, grabbing a mouth full of the back of Obito’s shirt and tugging on it to try and get him off of Kakashi. He didn’t budge, though. He simply sat there staring down at Kakashi with angry red eyes.
“We were supposed to save him!” Obito yelled, grabbing a fist full of Kakashi’s jacket. “We came here to save him, not to…we can’t just leave him!”
Sucking in a harsh breath, Kakashi stared up at the ceiling and tried to ignore the way his throat burned. Just above Obito’s head he saw a chunk of rock breaking free from the ceiling and crashing down toward them. Without a moment’s thought or even a second to get some actual wind into his lungs, he grabbed hold of Obito’s jacket and rolled.
The crash of that large piece of rock echoed throughout the cave while Kakashi and Obito stared at the spot they had just been occupying, the fear of what could have happened to them if Kakashi hadn’t reacted twisting in their stomachs making them nauseous.
“Obito…”
“I failed,.” his friend whispered, his voice heavy with regret. “I promised Charmander I’d save him. I swore I’d get him back, but…” his eyes closed and more tears began to spill down his face. “He was my partner.”
“I know…” Kakashi didn’t want to imagine what he would do if it had been Jolteon under that rock. Some people might think they were ridiculous to care so much about their Pokemon, childish even, but Kakashi knew the bond that Obito had with his Charmander.
It was the same bond that he had with Jolteon, and Gai had with Hitmonlee. A bond of friendship that couldn’t be broken, and would never be replaced.
“Jol!” Glancing to his side, Kakashi cringed when he saw his own Partner standing there holding her left front paw up, a large scratch across the skin. He hadn’t seen what happened to her when the rock came crashing down toward them, but he knew she’d still been holding onto Obito when he began to roll away.
In trying to save all of them, he’d gone and injured Jolteon.
“We don’t have much time,” he whispered, the sound of the cave falling apart around them filling his ears. “Obito, I know it hurts. I’m sorry that we couldn’t do anything, but Charmander wouldn’t want you to stay here. He would want you to get out.”
“He would want to be here!” Obito screamed, barely moving when a Pokeball-sized rock came crashing down just a few inches beside his head. “He would want to escape with us!”
“I know,” releasing his grip on Obito’s shirt, he sat up and looked back over at where Charmander and Voltorb were now buried. Even if they wanted to there was no possibility of moving the rocks, and it wouldn’t matter anyways
There was no way either of the Pokemon had survived being crushed under all of those rocks. Most likely, and what Kakashi hoped would happen, they had died instantly. At least then they wouldn’t have had to suffer at all.
“I’m sorry, Obito,” he whispered, turning back to his friend. “But I will knock you out if I have to. We’re leaving, now!”
Not waiting for a response, he got to his feet and grabbed hold of Obito’s right arm, dragging him up with him. Once they were standing, he began to move. “Jolteon!” His partner ran up to his side, a low, pained whimper escaping its mouth as it attempted to walk on its wounded paw.
He expected resistance, but instead, there was nothing.
Obito didn’t fight, or scream, or even argue.
For the first time in their lives, Obito simply followed Kakashi without complaint.
Dodging between falling rocks, Kakashi pulled Obito along behind him and listened to Jolteon’s whimpers, never stopping for even a second until finally they passed the threshold and stepped outside.
“Kakashi!” Gai cheered, rushing forward and wrapping his arms around Kakashi’s neck for a hug. Releasing his hold on Obito’s arm, Kakashi simply lowered his head and buried his face into Gai’s shoulder without a word. “Kakashi? Are you alright?”
“What about you?” Rin asked, rushing past them and straight to Obito while Asuma and Kurenai followed close behind. “Are you injured? Did you get hit? Where is Charmander?”
A hundred questions a second, and she didn’t receive a single answer. Obito simply stood there staring at the ground, his eyes puffy and red from all the crying. Neither he nor Kakashi said a thing, and after a few moments of silence and the realization that Charmander was not with them, the crushing sadness that had already enveloped Obito and Kakashi began to spread to the others.
They’d won the fight.
Beaton the bad guys
But at the end of the day, none of them felt like a winner at all.

po. pokemon au. team minato pokemon au.
its set in unova cuz thats the best region C:
rin started off on her journey to become CHAMPION of unova because. because. because uhhhhhh dont ask her she does NOT know!! she got her stupid starter snivy towards which she feels NOTHING and she breezes through gyms and whenever someone goes "wow i can just feel the love you and your pokemon feel towards each other" rin just goes :| because she has no passion no drive no nothing. she catches pokemon when they show up and pays no mind to utility OR sentiment. the mimiku is there because shes Super Duper Normal and not hiding behind a mask it is NOT sybolism i repeat it is NOT symbolism. shes actually pretty good at the whole pokemon training gig and ends up defeating the reigning champion (sakumo) and then she feels sort of bad since lots of people like. actually want this. but shes the one who got it and she doesnt care. and shes just :| the whole time.
obito is a guy who REALLY REALLY wants to be champion but hes not very good at battling. he's got a shiny escavalier and a sickly deerling and an egg that has not hatched in the year + that hes been carting it around and he is making LITTLE TO NO PROGRESS!!! hes a guy from a small town with nothing to lose and everything to gain but hes. hes not gaining it.
kakashi is the son of a champion and he is expected to also be a super-duper awesome trainer. he leaves on his journey about a year before rin wanders in to beat up sakumo and he's. hm. he's doing what he's supposed to. he's a very, very good trainer- if he challenged rin for the seat of champion, he'd definitely win. it's just that running around the country side with no responsibilities other than "hang out with your pokemon" is the happiest he's ever been in his entire life and he doesn't want to give that up.
he runs into obito, and the two of them start a rivalry, except kakashi outclasses obito so badly its not. not really a rivalry. obito decides that he'll never make it to champion hood, probably, and encourages kakashi to take the seat for him! kakahsi is reluctant, but decides that he's dawdled long enough. in the middle of kakashi's fight with rin, obito's egg FINALLY decides to hatch, and its. its a mew. it turns out that it got lost, and it needs to be like. taken to (insert location here) and obito happened to stumble upon it. the battle is dropped and the three of them decide that 1, no one can know for the mew's safety, and 2, the three of them will have to take the mew there together because there is no way obito could manage it on his own. that's the rough plot i have in my head, anyways.

Chapter 2 for Nights in Cartagena
Excerpt:
I sat up suddenly and breathed heavily while scrambling to pull up on my mask. After looking around the room… The hotel room... Not the room in the middle east. Not that prison. I’m ok. I’m ok.
“Nightmare?” I turned my head to see a groggy Kakashi waking up. I just nodded my head as I breathed in through my nose and out through my mouth. Just like the therapist taught me. Military people really should go to therapy more… I’m glad my mom took me when I was young so I was used to it already… “You want to talk about it?” I shot him a bewildered look and he chuckled. “Fair enough… What can I do?”
“Nothing… I just need a minute.” I stood up out of the bed and went out onto the balcony. There was a chill in the air as the early morning hit. Felt like maybe 4AM… The city seemed quiet… Peaceful almost, and it was growing dark as the nightlife died down. I heard Kakashi come out onto the balcony as he stood beside me leaning his arms onto the balcony railing.
“You’re really amazing… You know that?” He spoke gently. I looked at him with my head tilted to the side.
“You’re the army ranger here…” I raised my eyebrow, so confused as to why he thought I was the amazing one.
“Yes but, I’m trained for those things. You… You were just a field surgeon… You were never meant to get mixed into something like that… The way you managed to escape…” He trailed off while looking down at the city below. Wait… How... I escaped? His file only contained summaries… How does he know how I escaped…?
“What do you mean how I escaped…?” I questioned wearily. His mouth dropped open and he looked like he just had his hand caught in the cookie jar as the little color there drained from his face.
“I-I…” He looked down to the street below and rubbed his neck. He read my file. He used his privileges and connections to get my file so he could read every last detail… He knew everything. What they did… What I did… What they did to me… I shook my head while gripping tightly at the railing.
“You bastard.” I hissed before walking back into the room.
Warning: This is an EXTREMELY self-indulgent fic.
Imagine an AU where Kakashi (and maybe eventually others) were originally in the army in a modern day setting where COVID does not exist. Only now Kakashi was medically discharged because of his eye injury. Instead, he now works for the CIA gathering intelligence and is set to go on a mission with the female OC. The female OC is ex-army herself, though they had never met before seeing each other at the airport for the first time. What's the first mission? The first mission is to pose as a couple on their honeymoon traveling to Colombia. There they will infiltrate and convince someone high up in the rankings of a drug cartel to spy for them. They spend their nights taking in the wild latin nightlife, dancing away and enjoying themselves and each other in more ways than one. She knows it's part of the mission, but she swears there's something there... Is there?
Also features Colombian American Tobirama and Hashirama. Tobirama Is CEO and CSO of a biotech company, while Hashirama is mayor of San Diego.

I don't like Naruto modern AU's but also I have a frighteningly clear image of what modern-au Obito would be like and it's forced me to at least THINK about everyone else in context to him. Bipoalr Taylor Swift stan male femenist (read: wife guy) gamer conspiracy theorist that reads WAY too much Lovecraftian horror (but slightly less Nictze then you'd think given his Everything). Anti-Thiest-New-Athiest loser that gets a god complex from Kinning anime villains like Light and Shigiraki and Dio and dyes his hair white during a manic episode then cries for three hours when Rin mistakes him for Kakashi. Eats swedish fish flavoured oreos and whines when Rin won't kiss him until he brushes his teeth. Rin was his only friend since forever, so he was on at least friendly terms with all of her friends by neccesity even if none of them really liked him. They started talking to Kakahsi when they all joined a club together in middle school where Obito and Kakahsi were rivals and then Rin dated Kakashi in highschool and Obito hated him- out of an equal mix of jealosy and protectiveness- but tolerated him because he made Rin happy, then they broke up when Kakashi realized he was gay but by then the three of them were actually pretty close so they didn't stop talking and now they're lowkey codependant? Like Obito is 100% codependant (and married) with Rin and Rin likes to pretend she isn't because she had friends but she TOTALLY is, and Kakashi is slightly more convincing when he pretends that he isn't because he has at least one boyfriend (Gai) but probably two (Tenzo) but also still lives with them DESPITE having (a) boyfriend(s) and if he goes more then like 12 hours without talking to either of them he has a panic attack. Obito buys Kakashi a (dubiously legal) miku-binder when Kakahsi comes out as trans when they're like 11 and Kakashi cries. He has chronic pain and scars from an avalanche that happened on a school field trip where he, Rin, and Kakashi ditched the group to explore, and is only not addicted to painkillers and/or weed because Rin monitors him relegiously. Him and Rin have a cat named Kamui and a turtle named Isobu. And on top of all of that he still somehow has his life together enough to be the head of finances at a small leftist company trying to do good run by Nagato and Konan (Konan was Rin's college roommate) and keep it running smoothly despite it's shoestring budget. But whenever he tells people this they think he's lying and Rin has to convince him not to pay a 12 year old to vandalize the person's house/car with leftist catchphrases. Do you understand me I have a vision It Is There. But also I irrationally HATE modern AU's. So you see my problem.

ok i’ve had this vague idea brewing of a gravity falls and omega mart mix type au, where basically obito moves away from home to this new town that’s super unpopulated and pretty old, because he j wants to live a quieter life bc the uchiha are a riot to live with.
the town is weird, plain and simple. like it starts off fine, a little quirky, but then immediately tumbles into
Tumblr media
kakashi owns/is a cashier at the only store in town, a dinky little thing. he’s obito’s guide throughout the town and it’s dangers, but he’s uhhh def got his own things going on (“shit wtf is that?? hey kakashi where’d you go”)
rin comes in later. it’s revealed that she’s been working as a govt agent or whatever, trying to stop the spread of the town’s “weirdness” (its smth tangible—like source from omega mart. if u drink it or whatever, weird stuff starts happening)
which tangent to source or whatever i’m calling it here, but if crops r given it they can have some wild mutations and sometimes said mutations make their way into kakahsi’s shop. there’s no way to tell what’s mutated and what’s not until somebody inspects an orange to buy, sets it down, and dies three days later.
anyway! rin is also trying to find out what happened to sakumo, because he disappeared without a trace when kakashi was like 11 and they’ve been looking for him ever since. rin suspects that it’s got something to do with the higher-ups (danzō, hiruzen) but as it stands she doesn’t have any evidence
and that’s ab as far as i got LMAO i’m mostly into it for the weirdcore stuff

Dear author, for the DVD commentary - would you be willing to share some thoughts on Sakura's genin team in light of the following passage?? "Kakashi sits near the window, staring out. Brooding, angry. He looks at her, dark eyes unfocused before sharpening harshly when they make contact. The vice grip on her heart constricts because Naruto, because Sasuke, because Sakumo-sensei—Breathe. In and out. In and out. In and out. Good. Keep it up." Either way (1 of 2)
Tumblr media
HI BIRK!!!!! i have been itching to talk about ATIWYDWSN!!! let's dive into it
okay so! as we've established, the entire fic is a role/gen swap, switching Team Minato and Team 7 because the parallels are so interesting (and because i like to make sakura suffer in the best ways).
meaning that sakumo became hokage in this AU and died, which then implies that kakashi has taken naruto's "place" on this new team. so kakashi hasn't had the most fun during his short twelve years of age LMFAO
Kakashi sits near the window, staring out. Brooding, angry.
he's angry, sour, and entirely vicious because of the way he's had to raise himself. unlike naruto, kakashi doesn't want people to love him, he wants people to leave him alone. so he's cold, he's mean, he's seething at the world itself. (which sakura can understand wholly.)
He looks at her, dark eyes unfocused before sharpening harshly when they make contact.
as of right now, all kakashi wants to do is become powerful and then fade into the shadows of ANBU. he's been planning this ever since he's first seen his guards and smelt the blood, the violence, on them. he's a kid, but he's also absurdly smart.
he knows exactly who sakura is (the bloodied blossom, the copynin, the tiger queen, the jade demon, etc, etc, etc) and what she can do (flee on sight, since she was fifteen with grief and rage coursing under her skin, 1000 different ways to kill someone, how to sink into the shadows so soundlessly) and he wants to use her for her own advantage. kakashi wants to use her skill, her power, and make himself into something untouchable and simply slink into the shadows like he belongs there. (he doesn't.)
The vice grip on her heart constricts because Naruto, because Sasuke, because Sakumo-sensei—
and while kakahsi has been scheming and planning and waiting, sakura's simply trying to survive this encounter. we don't really see it in this first chapter, but sakura's haunted by ghosts in the worst ways possible. she can't stand the color orange, can't look at tomatoes the same, the smell of lightning makes her nauseous.
so seeing kakashi who looks so much like sakumo, seeing obito who's just like naruto but looks like shisui (like itachi, like sasuke), and then rin who is like a mirror of the girl she once was? she's on the verge of a breakdown.
Breathe. In and out. In and out. In and out. Good. Keep it up.
her inner dialogue becomes much more focused during this scene before she's panicking and more in her mind than the entire chapter. sakura's sanity and mental wellbeing is held together by a single, carefully tangled thread that if becomes unraveled... well... lets just say it won't be good for anyone involved.
she's trying to keep her cool and she does enough that the kids don't sense how much she's crumbling on the inside luckily LOL. but yeah, we get a lil peek at exactly how much this affects her and how even though teaching these kids is like driving a knife into an open wound, she's still going to do it.
for her team, for her guilty conscious, and for the future plans for the leaf. she's been waiting for this moment to scoop obito and kakashi into her claws (rin is a bonus, one that she will not let go to waste) and she won't let anything happen to them. that's her promise and though sakura is a killer and a liar and a horrible, rotten person, she keeps her promises (until she can't.)
thank you so much for comin over and asking birk!!!!! any chance i get to talk about my writing i JUMP at it LOL

Scarves and Kids
Tumblr media
title: Scarves and Kids
author: clarkjoekent
pairing: Kakashi/Gai
word count: 57,126 (so far)
rating: mature
genre: mystery, romance
warnings: mentions of Sakumo’s death
status: ongoing, updated regularly
summary: Kakashi is sick and tired of being a mindless drone to the Hokage. Gai is sick and tired of seeing Kakahsi act as if his life doesn't matter. It takes a while but Gai realizes what must be done in order to get his Kakashi back.
Or!
The Sakumo didn't kill himself and all the kids get the love they deserve AU
impressions:
The romance in this is slow burn, and it’s worth every single second of it. Kakashi and Gai’s relationship is so fleshed out. The conspiracy mystery surrounding Sakumo’s "suicide” will keep you on the edge of your seat, spearheaded by an amazingly written Shikaku. It’s a fantastic read, every new chapter is great.

Pokemon Au Masterlist- Headcannons/Story
Kakashi is the son of Sakumo Hatake, the current Champion of Kanto when Kakashi starts his pokemon Journey. He is also the grandson of Tobirama Senju, the Pokemon Professor of the Kanto region. As such, Kakashi is put under a lot of pressure to meet a lot of expectations and even before his pokemon journey begins he is followed by reporters and others who want to know all about him.
When Kakashi arrives at Tobirama’s lab to be given his first official pokemon and start his journey, he meets Maito Gai. The others who start their journey at the same time are Obito and Rin. (Genma, Ebisu, Asuma and Kurenai all start a few years before them since they are older. Iruka, Tenzo, shisui and Itachi all start a few years after them)
When it comes to choosing pokemon, Rin took squirtle, Kakashi took Venasaur and both Obito and Gai took Charmander. Obito is the only one who still has/uses his charizard for battles.
Gai notices that Kakashi is uncomfortable with the reporters that seem to be already following him, so he attaches himself to the other kids side and make sure to get between him and the camera’s whenever they try to focus on him, taking all the focus onto himself. Kakashi appreciates this and they decide to head to the first gym together.
Kakashi almost always does his gym battle after Gai so that he can get a feel for how the gym leader fights. Because of this, Kakashi is able to come up with a plan of attack by the time that he fights and is usually able to obtain the badge in one try. The only exceptions are Minato and Danzo. Minato he had to fight 3 times before he gets his badge, Danzo he gets it on the second try. Gry sometimes has to try gyms multiple times, but Kakashi is in no rush and thinks it’s fun to watch Gai train with his pokemon so he always waits for him.
In Lavander town, Kakashi and Gai meet a young kid still waiting a few years before he can start his own pokemon journey. Tenzo lives in a home with his adopted father, who is often away because he is also a gym leader, leaving Tenzo under the care of baby sitters. While they’re visiting, Kakahsi’s ivysor bonds with Tenzo so much that when they’re getting ready to leave Kakashi notices that Ivysor is sad to be saying goodbye to Tenzo. Because Tenzo doesn’t really have anyone else stable around with him, Kakashi decides to leave Ivysaur with him so that he has a friend.
Kakashi is one of very few trainers who is able to beat Fugaku in one try, and he is absolutely ruthless in the battle after hearing Fugaku bad mouth Gai’s training technique and bond with his pokemon, telling him he should focus on getting strong pokemon rather than working with weak pokemon. This is the first battle which Gai see’s Kakashi aim to absolutely destroy his competition, and the only battle in which Fugaku’s pokemon fail to faint even one of the challengers pokemon.
After his battle with Fugaku, Kakashi is presented his badge by a young Itachi. When Kakashi see’s Itachi looking at his Jolteon, he tells him he is welcome to pet Jolteon and that his pokemon won’t bite. Itachi has a lot of questions for Kakashi, but Fugaku rushes him and Gai out of the gym before storming into the back utterly annoyed that Kakashi defeats him completely.
The day after Kakashi’s gym victory and Gai’s lose, Itachi goes to the local pokemon center to see if Nurse Tsunade needs any help with the pokemon. There, he see’s Kakashi and Gai with their pokemon. Gai is in the back field training with his pokemon for his rematch while Kakashi is sitting on the sidelines with a small growleth in his lap and his Jolteon by his side. Itachi remembers the team that Kakashi brought with him, even though he only used Jolteon. Kakashi had released all 3 of the pokemon he planned to use so Fugaku could see them. They had all been Electric pokemon, leading Itachi to believe that Kakashi was an electric trainer, only to see him with a fire pokemon in his lap.
The next day, Gai and Kakashi show up so that Gai can redo his gym challenge. While Gai is doing his battle against Fugaku, Itachi slides up beside Kakashi in the bleachers and watches as he brushes Growlithes  fur. While sitting there, he finds himself blurting out a question. ‘I thought you only used Electric pokemon?’ Kakashi laughs and explains that while he does only use electric pokemon, he has a certain fondness for dogs and likes to collect dog pokemon. He doesn’t use those pokemon in battle though, even though he does train them, because he wants to show people how amazing Electric pokemon are. He more likes to have Dog pokemon as companions that often play with and train with all of his electric pokemon. This is the first time Itachi has heard of anyone besides his mother keeping a pokemon as a companion and not a battling pokemon.
After Gai win’s his gym badge from Fugaku, Kakashi and Gai get ready to set off onto the next part of the journey. Before leaving though, Gai goes up to Itachi and lays a pokeball in his hand, telling him it’s from Kakashi before he runs off to join his friend. When Itachi releases the pokemon to see what it is, he finds himself faced with a beautiful Eeevee that Kakashi had caught on the way to Fugaku’s gym because he found it stealing food from his bag and decided someone had to take care of it.
Kakashi and Gai go on to face the Elite four together after getting all 8 badges and doing a lot of training. On victory road Shizune joins them until they run into Tsunade at the end. Tsunade challenges them to make sure they’re ready to take on the elite four, and when they prove themselves she gladly sends them on their way. Shizun chooses to stick around with Tsunade and learn from her, since she’s not only an amazing pokemon trainer but also a Pokemon Doctor.
Kakashi and Gai beat the elite four, but both of them lost to Sakumo. Of course, as soon as Gai see’s who the champion is he understands Kakashi’s aversion to reporters and cameras. He always knew Kakashi was the son of the champion since day one, but he never realized that Kakashi was the spitting image of his father.
After facing Sakumo, the pair decide to continue exploring Kanto to train up their pokemon and become stronger, going over to Johto about a year later to find new pokemon and try the league there. This is where they meet Professor Shikaku, who is more interested in getting the pair to help him with research projects than he is with helping them with their gym challenge. Of course, Kakashi gets a cute Chikoreta out of the deal (that he later also gives to Tenzo) so he’s not complaining too much.
A few years later, Shisui and Tenzo start off on their journey. Unlike Kakashi and Gai they decide to do their journey alone like most kids, though they do run into each other a lot on the way and have battles to see where they’re standing in terms of skill. Shisui chooses Charmander as his starter, and finds that he likes to collect a variety of pokemon. Tenzo, on the other hand, has a real love for grass type pokemon and has the Ivysaur that Kakashi gave him to start off his journey with.
Shisui first meets Kakashi and Gai in Celadon city. The pair is there to relax after getting back from the Johto region, and there’s a bit huff around the city about two top trainers being there. Shisui decides to check it out and ends up challenging Gai to a one on one battle thinking neither of these two look all that great. He is...pleasantly surprised.
Gai absolutely destroys him in battle with his Hitmonlee, and Shisui decides then and there that he’s going to train until he can beat this weird pair of ass kicking trainers.
When he has 8 badges, Tenzo heads to victory road where he finds Kakashi and Gai chilling outside. Kakashi smiles when he see’s him, having gotten word that Tenzo had finally gotten his last badge. As a reward, Kakashi lays a pokeball in Tenzo’s hand. It’s the Chikareta that Shikaku had given him a few years ago, and thankfully this time Tenzo has a pokemon to give Kakashi in return. The only electric pokemon that Kakashi had been unable to catch as of yet, because it’s a stubborn shit that keeps eluding him. Electobuzz.
Shisui and Tenzo both end up losing to Sakumo as well, though Sakumo is impressed by how many pokemon they manage to get through. Only Kakashi and Gai have managed to actually get close to beating him before.
When Itachi begins his pokemon journey, It’s Kakashi and Gai’s first year as Gym Leaders. Gai is the 7th Gym leader and a fighting type leader, while Kakashi is the 8th gym leader and the Electric type leader.
Kakashi quickly gets a reputation for being a ruthless gym leader. Not in the same way as Fugaku, who is known to insult challengers' training methods and skills. But rather because he doesn’t go easy on his gym challengers. If they want to win a badge from him, they have to earn it in every way possible.
The only person who gets a gym badge from Kakashi ever, Is Itachi. It gets Kakashi into quiet a lot of trouble with the league for not letting others have a chance at facing the elite four, but Sakumo is damn proud of his son and knows that Itachi facing him means this kid is damn strong.
Itachi doesn’t beat Sakumo the first time, but he does get Sakumo down to one pokemon which is terrifying.
Ultimately, both Kakashi and Itachi beat Sakumo. The difference is Kakashi beats his dad in a silly battle at his gym that’s not legal in any way and he’s happy with that. He never wanted his victory publicized. Itachi beats Sakumo on live TV for everyone to see and becomes the new official champion.
This happens 3 years after Itachi started his journey, and it’s huge because for years Sakumo was undefeated.
As the new Champion, Itachi gets to choose the elite four that will be working with him. He chooses Kakashi, Gai, Shisui and Rin. All absolute power houses in their own way will test a trainer's skill in brute strength, intelligence, quick reactions and adjustments and training style before they even get to Itachi.
To get past all four of them is damn impressive, but because it’s so hard it’s actually rare to see Itachi out as the champion, and thus not many people know what the champion actually looks like.

You’ve Got Kudos
Written for Day 1 of the Kakashi Lounge Discord Server's September Event. Prompts: Fanfic Writer!Kakashi | Social Disaster | Modern AU | Roommates/Neighbors
[Read on AO3] Pairing: Kakashi x Rei (OC)  Rating: Teen and Up @the-kakashi-lounge-blog
Kakashi has a dirty little secret and it's in the form of an AO3 account. No one is allowed to know that he writes Icha Icha fanfiction--especially not his library tech neighbor Rei. (Standalone companion piece to The Scarecrow and the Bell, Modern/College AU)
Kakashi kicked off his shoes at the front door and slumped into his favorite chair. Tutoring wasn’t necessarily his favorite thing in the world but it looked good on resumes and put a little extra cash in his pockets, so he supposed he could tolerate it for a little while longer. If only his students hadn’t been quite so insufferable, that is.
If anything, tutoring reminded Kakashi how much he hated underclassmen. His three protegees were all naïve freshman whose energy stores had yet to drain. Naruto was enthusiastic but slow on the uptake and it was hard to get him to properly focus. Sakura had potential but she was far too engrossed in her Instagram rivalry with fellow student Ino Yamanaka to make any real progress. And Sasuke was constantly brooding, there not by choice but rather because his professor threatened to flunk him if he didn’t seek outside help.
Perhaps it would’ve been smarter to book them each separate appointments but with the way everyone’s schedules worked out, it was easier to just create one big study group. It was more efficient that way, anyway. Kakashi much preferred to kill three birds with one stone than chip away at his sanity little by little. And so every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon, Kakashi trudged to the library to pore over used textbooks and incomprehensible scribbles in an attempt to explain simple concepts to brains that could not understand. This was fine. He didn’t need a social life anyway.
Kakashi rubbed his tired eyes and checked the time. It was 5:30pm. He had no idea what he was going to do for dinner, nor did he really care. Sighing, he reached for his laptop and went straight to his email. At the very top of his inbox was a notification from Archive of Our Own: Comment on Icha Icha Bloodline. Kakashi’s heart jolted. In the solace of his apartment, this was his one saving grace: fanfiction.
He admittedly felt a little ridiculous about the whole thing. What college guy not only wrote fanfiction, but for romance novels at that? He knew exactly how his taste in literature appeared. So few people truly understood the nuance and artistry of the Icha Icha books, writing it off as just cheap porn. Those books, however, gave Kakashi exactly the reprieve he needed. Within their pages, he could disappear from the stress of everyday life to instead revel in the throes of a dramatic fictional romance. His love for this series knew no bounds. His heart ached to share it with someone but if college had taught Kakahsi anything, it was that people never really change and are more than willing to judge you the minute you express any personal interests. High School: The Sequel, if you will. And so Kakashi had come to learn that there were only ever two places where he was safe to unapologetically indulge in his favorite series: within the comfort of his own home and on the internet.
Fanfiction was never his original intention. Rather, it was the end result of a long string of unfortunate circumstances. The latest book had ended with the heroine caught between two very tempting suitors, a cliffhanger of epic proportions which left Kakashi itching for a resolution. A few months after publication, the author, Jiraiya, passed away, taking his secrets for the series’ finale with him.
Kakashi had tried so hard not to think about it but the lack of closure ate away at him. He needed a valuable outlet through which to ramble, a way to confide in someone as invested in the series as he was. For a moment, he had considered joining a book club but all of his attempts failed. The only clubs that ever focused on books like these were run by sexually frustrated middle-aged women who sneered at the mere thought of letting a man into their circle. On recommendation from a friend, he turned to the campus library community for help but was met with nothing short of disaster, which thus introduced the second point of contention: Rei.
The library check-in desk was notoriously run by volunteers, most of which were majoring in library science themselves. One such volunteer was Rei Natsuki, a junior with fiery hair and a chronic resting bitch face. It wasn’t that Kakashi didn’t like her, necessarily. Actually, every time he saw her he got this horrifying fuzzy feeling in the pit of his stomach that insisted he was about to throw up. He felt as if her eyes were on him constantly, studying his every move. This fact only furthered his gratitude for lumping together all of his tutoring appointments. The less time he spent in the library, the less often he would have to see her.
Not that she was necessarily easy to avoid. Just his luck, she lived three doors down from him in the same off-campus apartment complex. At least if he timed things just right, he could avoid running into her in the hallway. Their mutual existence was like a very carefully choreographed dance on perilous terrain. They were constantly at risk of colliding with one another, a harrowing and horrifying fate.
Their first encounter was in the fall of his freshman year when he snuck into the erotic fiction section searching for the Icha Icha books. As he skimmed the titles, he felt a pair of mossy eyes burning holes into his back like a cryptid whose domain has been intruded upon. When Kakashi turned around, he caught her peering around the edge of the bookshelf. Her expression was one of harsh focus and concern. “Looking for something?” she asked. For someone so small—she was roughly a foot shorter than he was—she was certainly terrifying.
Kakashi’s face turned beet red, rubbing the back of his neck nervously. “No, not particularly!” he exclaimed. “Just looking around!”
“Hrmph” Rei huffed, unconvinced. “Well, if you need anything, I’ll be right over there” she pointed to the help desk at the front of the library. An older woman, one of the librarians, winked at her across the room and Rei’s face turned bright red. Without another word, she scurried off back to her station, grumbling under her breath. Once gone, Kakashi sighed and leaned back against the shelf. All of the books directly behind him tumbled to the ground with a loud thud. Rei immediately whipped around to glare at him but by then, he had already dove into the nearest study room. Frustrated, Rei stomped over to assess the damage and begin reorganizing the shelves. Kakashi apologized to the group he interrupted before booking it out of the building. It was in that moment that he officially decided: from that point onward, Icha Icha would remain his dirty little secret. Literally.
And thus came along the internet. At least there, hiding behind his computer screen, he could retain some sense of anonymity. He could disguise himself with a pen name much like wearing a mask. No one needed to know who he was. He pored over various forums, reading but never interacting. As refreshing as it was to find a sense of community amid other Icha Icha fans, his joy quickly faded when he realized one fatal flaw: no one knew what they were talking about. They all misinterpreted the characters, the relationships, the actions the heroine took to get to this point. Perhaps Jiraiya’s novels were too nuanced. Perhaps there was no hope for him after all. It was then, deep into a Reddit thread, that it dawned on him: the horrifying promise of writing fanfiction.
At first, Kakashi refused. He would not stoop so low. The harder he resisted, however, the more appealing the idea slowly became. At least in this way, he could help people to better understand these stories in a way that he was familiar with. Not that he was an avid writer himself but he hoped he was familiar enough with the conventions of fiction to understand how it was done. As if running on autopilot, he ventured to Archive of Our Own and created an account under the pseud “CopyNin.”
His fanfiction, Icha Icha Bloodline, introduced dramatic new themes and conflicts to the story he loved, expanding on the love triangle with a depth and sincerity that he hoped would make Jiraiya proud. It hadn’t gotten many hits yet, but that just made every kudos and comment feel that much heavier. As his cursor hovered over his inbox now, he almost questioned whether he even wanted to know. Every shared thought had the capacity to make or break his motivation. But if he didn’t look, he wouldn’t be able to contain himself. He needed to know. He pulled up the latest comment and his heart leapt into his throat. It was from LittleBell.
LittleBell was, for lack of a better word, iconic amid the Icha Icha fandom. They were one of the first writers Kakashi had encountered when he first considered fanfiction as a possibility. Their name appeared in dozens of forum posts, attached to both praise and criticism alike. By the time Kakashi looked into them himself, they had already written 100,000 words worth of fic with the longest piece nearing 100 chapters. It was clear why they were so popular. The cadence of their sentences, their detailed characterization, and their dynamic plot points all made Kakashi’s heart sing. He could only hope to one day be as great a writer as they were.
Kakashi had lurked through fifteen chapters before, in a fit of sleep-drunken gumption, he had decided to leave LittleBell a comment. It was short and sweet and afterward, Kakashi groaned into his pillow second-guessing every sentence, but he awoke to an encouraging response that firmly cemented the allure of writing a fic himself. And now here he was, faced with a comment from them on his own work. How could he ever prepare himself for something so huge? He instinctually expected scathing criticism. Your characterization sucks. You’re writing them all too flat. Her suitors would never say XYZ or do ABC. Have you even read the books? This is trash. Kakashi’s hands shook as he tried to shove those negative thoughts out of his mind. LittleBell had been so kind before so, realistically, why would their response be any different? Kakashi scratched the back of his head, knowing that the longer he waited, the more maddening this was going to become. Without another moment’s hesitation, he forced himself to view the comment.
This was so great! I love the way you write these characters—I can tell you have a really deep understanding of the heroine, especially. It’s so refreshing to read a fic that not only retains the romance of the originals but also emphasizes it in a way that’s super meaningful rather than cheesy. My favorite part was the scene where she’s fixing his watch. “It’s really an exquisite watch. Such a shame that it’s stopped working.” “I guess that just means that we’ll have to stay in this moment forever” “What will everyone else say? They’ll get tired of waiting.” “Let them wait. I’m always late to everything anyway. What’s another eternity?” My heart! You can really tell just how much he loves her, and it makes that love triangle all the more tense and heartbreaking! You’re really just doing an incredible job with this and I can’t wait to read more!”
Kakashi’s cheeks burned as he buried his face in his hands. It was all he could do to hide the grin on his face. Not that anyone was there to tease him for it. Pakkun was fast asleep on the couch and likely wouldn’t have cared anyway. Alone in his apartment, Kakashi was exploding. To think that someone so talented and renowned within the fandom not only noticed his work but enjoyed it was mind-blowing. This was a high he would surely be riding for the rest of the week, if not the rest of the semester. Nothing could be better than this.
Once the debilitating excitement wore down a bit, Kakashi was then stuck with the battle of writing a response. He knew there were some in the community who considered responding a controversial topic—something about trying to increase your comment count—but Kakashi enjoyed replying to every single person who took the time to say something nice. And this was certainly something very nice. How could he possibly put into words his overwhelming gratitude? He had no clue. Kakashi stewed over the prospect for a solid ten minutes before his growling stomach urged him to hurry up. He had completely forgotten he was hungry but now his body was not going to let him forget. He considered stepping away and replying later, after he had time to chew it over, but then quickly shoved away the thought. He couldn’t afford to put this on the backburner at the risk of forgetting about it entirely. No, he needed to do this now.
Kakashi typed, paused, considered, then backspaced and typed again. When he was finally at least mildly pleased with his response, he sucked in a deep breath and pressed Comment.
Huffing in relief, Kakashi stretched out and leaned his head back against his chair. All that was left to do now was wait. Would they even respond back? He didn’t know. Sometimes a comment began a whole conversation, other times it was a singular instance like a comet in the night sky.
But for now, he was going to try not to dwell on it. He received LittleBell’s praise, and if they were to respond back then so be it. It was all up to fate now. Kakashi slipped on his shoes, shoved his phone, wallet, and keys into his pocket, and headed out. As he locked his apartment, he heard without listening as a door down the hall creaked open. The sound reached his ears but his brain did not register what it was until it was too late. Turning around, he abruptly bumped into her.
A gasp fell from Rei’s lips as she collided with Kakashi’s chest. Her half-open backpack swung on her shoulder, spilling its contents onto the floor. “S-sorry about that!” he croaked, clearing his throat. Kakashi’s hands shook as he leaned down to help gather her belongings, all the while fearing her wrath. Among the used textbooks and stuffed notebooks was a green paperback with a big prohibition sign on the cover. The little bell charm attached to Rei’s keychain jingled and automatically Kakashi was punched in the gut with a realization of Pavlovian proportions. Little Bell.
“I-I’m sorry…what was that…?” Rei stammered and suddenly Kakashi realized he had, in fact, spoken aloud. Her voice, in response, was so much quieter than he had ever thought she was capable of—filled with the striking fear of being vulnerably and intrinsically known. Unmasked.
Kakashi’s eyes widened as he shuffled to gather as many of her books as he could manage. “I-I didn’t know you liked the Icha Icha books” he murmured. He could hardly make eye contact as he handed her back her things.
“Yeah…” she said, slowly accepting them, “They’re, uh…they’re my favorite.”
Rubbing the back of his neck, Kakashi chuckled nervously and replied, “Mine, too.”
She wasn’t sure what it was about him but in that moment, a sickening feeling filled her chest, a nauseating suspicion that she couldn’t shake. There was really only way to confirm whether or not those suspicions were correct. At the risk of looking like an idiot, she cleared her throat then and said, “You know, that’s a really exquisite watch.” Kakashi froze, his eyes gently skating down to his wrist. He wasn’t wearing a watch. His heart pounded in his chest. Rei bit her lip, dropped her eyes to the floor. “It’s, uh, it’s a shame it’s stopped working.”
Kakashi’s mind was reeling. None of this felt real. Suddenly Rei was a completely different person to him now. He saw her not as the terrifying, impatient, and indirect girl from the library but the extremely talented, encouraging, yet perhaps unfortunately shy writer that he had spent so much time idolizing. If only he had known of the bond they secretly shared over the past few months. He could hardly fight the grin on his face as he murmured back, “Then I guess we’ll just have to stay in this moment forever.”
Rei’s cheeks burned as she hugged her books to her chest. She could feel the laughter rising up in the back of her throat—this was so ridiculous, and yet at the same time this was everything she had ever wanted. If only Kakashi had truly known how much she had suppressed over the years, since they first met in the library. The way the old librarian encouraged her to speak to him when she caught him perusing her favorite books. The way she’d hide out in her apartment whenever he left for class, watching from the window too scared to approach. The way she channeled all of her unrequited love and inner turmoil into the very story she now knew he idolized. She felt so strange and vulnerable but also for the first time truly seen. It was the most bizarre and lovely sensation.
She had no idea how long they actually stood there in the hallway like that, reveling in this newfound connection, but all too soon reality suddenly hit her. “D-do you have somewhere you’re supposed to be? I don’t want you to be late!” she exclaimed.
Kakashi, however, still entranced, shook his head and replied, “Let them wait. I’m always late to everything anyway.” Rei brushed the long bangs back out of her face, completely incapable of stifling her laughter. Kakashi joined her—the breadth of his smile, the bravado of his voice, the way his eyes squinted when he laughed, all were enough to make her weak in the knees. “Are you hungry?” he then asked. “I was just about to get something to eat. You should come with me.”
Sliding her books back into her backpack, Rei smiled and replied, “I would love that.” Swinging her bag back over her shoulder, she walked alongside him down the hallway. Their fingers itched to interlock, their hearts pounding out of their chests. He opened the door for her and together they stepped out into the autumn air. Nothing else mattered. In that moment, all that existed was them: CopyNin and LittleBell.

Pokemon Au
Kakashi uses his electric pokemon for battling, and his dog pokemon for competitions.
There’s some cross over if course. He uses Boltund and Jolteon as battlers and contest pokemon, but Kakashi is dedicated to making a statement with competitions
That Dog pokemon reign supream.
He trains all of his dogs carefully to use their moves in brilliant, show stopping ways.
And while Kakashi and Gai may be formidable competition rivals, if it ever comes to a double competition, you know for a fact that they’re teaming up.
Which is bad news for everyone else because these two work together flawlessly

Hokage Sakumo Au
Sakumo becomes Hokage when Kakashi is still academy age, resulting in the worst case of 'inflated pride' he has ever seen.
Kakashi goes from being slightly arrogant to being very arrogant. The kid is still nice to his friends of course, but there's this air of 'I'm better than you' that lingers around him at all times.
Sakumo hates it. He loathes how cocky his son has gotten but he also understands because everyone around Kakashi is treating him differently. They're being even nicer than usual because he's the Hokage's son and that (to them) means something.
the kid already got favourable treatment and now he's getting more of it and it is terrible for his ego. Sakumo can see that much right away when Kakashi starts looking down on some of his classmates.
So, Sakumo sits his son down and tries to talk to him. to get him to see that nothing has really changed and he's still a shinobi in training.
this works for exactly two days before the overwhelming praise for his skills and kindness for who his father is really getting to Kakashi's head. It does not help at all that Kakashi legit can kick a lot of ass, so those who do have something bad to say or don't view him in a completely pure light usually get a swift kick to the face.
Sakumo is at his wits end with his son when the best sort of lesson hits Kakashi in the face.
Maito Dai.
Gai and Kakashi are a budding friendship. Close but Kakashi's still struggling with arrogance and the friendship a little. Sakumo's not pushing it.
But then he gets to see Kakashi experience firsthand how others get treated for 'not being as good'. How Dai is looked down on, ridiculed, and hated for just...not being as good as others.
And somehow this is a wake-up call for Kakashi. Don't ask Sakumo how, he doesn't understand, but his kid respects Dai and seeing people insult him does not sit well with him.
At first he settles for beating people up over it (espeshally if they're bullying gai) but then he realizes that isn't changing anything and changes his attitude.
he starts hanging out with Gai and Dai in public. He demands a certain amount of respect not just for himself, but for Gai and Dai, and that earns him some hateful comments.
Kakahsi learns, through his friendship with Gai, that people's feelings of respect and admiration are fleeting and conditional, and he's not ok with that.
Sakumo has tried everything to get through to his son but none of it worked. What does work, in the end, is Kakashi seeing firsthand how easily people will look down on him for just being nice. For being respectful to someone that they have deemed undeserving of that respect.
And from that point, Kakashi's arrogance tampers out a bit. He's still an arrogant shit who knows when he's smarter and stronger, but he doesn't let it show as much. He doesn't allow praise to go to his head and fill him with unearned pride.
Because of Dai.

Ohhh wait no…
Iwa Gai au where Kakashi starts writing little stories during his down time (where he may be. He carries a notebook with him) that are targeted to Gai
Stories of love and adventure and ridiculous challenges
Stories he has no intention of sharing with anyone but Gai, but which end up falling into Jiraiya’s hands one day when Kakashi forgets his notebook, and Jiraiya is nice enough to return it!
After giving it to his publisher and doing the editing process for Kakashi.
He gives Kakahsi back the notebook and the newly printed first edition copy of the book.
A book Kakashi hasn’t even had the chance to give Gai yet, who it was MEANT FOR

Paper Star
Au: Iwa Gai Au
Words: 1,053
Pairing: Kakagai
Characters: Gai
A paper star.
Such a tiny thing tucked away in the front pocket of his bag. Small enough that he may never have noticed it if he hadn’t been looking for a fruit bar to munch on, and that was probably the point. After all, Kakashi was a smart man. He knew how to hide things so that they would only be found by the person he’d left it for.
It was folded into a beautiful little star, about half the size of Gai’s palm. Upholding it almost felt like a crime, but he knew it was what Kakashi would want him to do.
Kakashi was a romantic, after all, and he never did anything without a purpose.
So, sitting down in his spot, Gai ripped open his fruit bar and took a bite out of it before focusing his full attention on the little gift Kakashi had left for him. Opening it up proved more difficult than he had first imagined, but with careful breaths and a cautious hand he was successful and he’d only made one tiny tear in the paper.
“Next time,” he whispered to himself as he flattened the paper between his palms. “I’ll make sure I don’t rip it next time, Rival.”
Kakashi wasn’t there to hear his promise, but he knew that it would reach him. Somehow his words always seemed to reach Kakahsi, even the words he never intended for him to hear. It was as if Kakashi had access to his very thoughts, though the other man assured him that was not the case when he sometimes joked about his ability to read his mind.
Once the paper was sufficiently flat, with none of the creases impeding his ability to read it, Gai settled back into his spot, took another bite of his bar, and began to read.
Turtle,
One night is beginning to feel like too little. I know it’s more than we could ask for, but there’s a part of me that wants to be greedy with my time. A piece of my heart which begs for me to stay in bed and watch you as you sleep.
Do you know how handsome you are? Has anyone ever told you that you snore in your sleep, or that sometimes you’ll grab your pillow and wrap yourself around it while muttering to yourself?
I wish I could watch you forever.
I wish that the world would stop spinning and time would stand still for just a few precious hours. It’s time I would be with you.
Time in which we could simply exist. Not as enemies or rivals, but as us.
Two hearts calling from far away wishing to be with each other.
Perhaps it’s cheesy. I could understand why you would laugh at my words and call me ridiculous, but I can’t help but feel as though I have to say it. There aren't words I can give you in my own voice, but maybe if I write them down you’ll understand just how much I love you.
I couldn’t sleep last night and for the first time in years I was alright with that because I was with you. I didn’t have to close my eyes and dream of being at your side, because for one precious night I was actually there.
I could touch your skin.
I could watch you sleep.
I could enjoy a few peaceful moments when the rest of the world didn’t matter, and there was only you.
I don’t know how long it will be until I can see you again. Life is complicated and our villages need us, but I hope…
It’s silly, but I hope that I can listen to those beautiful snores and lose myself in your scent again. If not tomorrow, then one day. Some precious day in the future where we can steal away some time again, and our villages can survive without us for one precious night.
Yours,
Scarecrow
P.S. Destroy this when you’ve finished reading it. I wouldn’t want anyone to find it and use it against you.
Gai re-read the note once, and then twice, and a third time. With each re-read he took another bite out of his bar, promising himself that he would get up and continue on his way once the snack was finished.
Before long there was nothing but an empty wrapper left sitting in his hand, and still he didn’t move. No matter how hard he tried he couldn’t drag his eyes away from the paper.
‘I have to commit it to memory’ he told himself as his eyes scanned over it again. ‘I I do that, then I won’t forget’
He could keep it. If he hid it well enough no one would ever find it, and then it would be his little secret. The note that he could pull out and read whenever he needed something to pull him through a tough day. A precious memory from the lover whom he couldn’t see.
That would be going against Kakashi’s wishes though, and no matter how much he wanted Gai would never do that. He knew that Kakashi’s concerns were genuine. If the wrong person were to get their hands on the note they could use it as blackmail, or present it to the Tsuchikage. Kakashi’s name may not have been in the note, but there was enough information to get him into a ton of trouble, and Onoki-Sama was not a man known for his patience or kindness.
‘Just once more,’ he promised as his eyes returned to the beginning of the little note and read over that stupid nickname Kakashi had given him when they were still teenagers. Back when neither of them would admit how important they were to each other. ‘Once more.’
He read it again, and again, and again. Never stopping to think about who might question him when he arrived back at the village later than he should have, or the risk he was putting himself under sitting in one spot for so long. None of that mattered. Not when he had a note from Kakashi sitting in his hands, the tender words of his lover’s heart written out just for him.
“Once more,” his fingers curled into the delicate paper, crumpling it. “Just once more.”

Once again thinking of a Rogue Au where Kakahsi and Gai leave the village, dragging Yamato behind them.
But they literally just set up camp outside a nice village and do work for them, which annoys konoha cuz that’s work that’s not going to Konoha shinobi anymore
But the three of them arn’t technically doing anything wrong
They’re just living
