If the crusaders played Pokémon, I just know that Kakyoin builds his team somewhat strategically, keeping type matchups in mind and teaching good moves to Pokémon he likes so he can use his favorites. He loves to collect and breed different Pokémon, and probably has several shiny Pokémon. Pokédex entries fascinate him.

Jotaro is the player who just uses whatever, and his Pokémon are just so high level that he gets by using brute force and doesn’t pay that much attention to types. Steamrolls through matches even when he has the type disadvantage. He catches a lot of water type Pokémon that he thinks look cool or remind him of his faves in real life.

Polnareff tries to just use whichever Pokémon he likes but gets into trouble at times when he doesn’t have diverse enough types. Please catch some more friends for your team, Pol. I promise your Escavalier (nicknamed Chariot) will be happy to have friends. He’s great at contests, though! (Even if he does burn a lot of poffins.)

Avdol has a fondness for fire types. If he plays any Gen 3 games, he always picks Torchic and nicknames it Magicians. Great strategic player but lowkey about it. Loves move combinations that work together (things like defense curl and rollout, sunny day and solar beam, rain dance and thunder) and would probably be amazing at competitive play.

Joseph gets frustrated when there’s routes you can’t access yet until you unlock more story aspects, but he finds the animation style and the music fun. He does know different pokemon, but he likes to butcher the names or call them all Pikachu to piss off Jotaro. He definitely shouts his typical “OH MY GOD” when his Pokémon evolve unexpectedly.

I actually struggle with dermatillomania myself and I think this is a cool concept because BFRBs (body focused repetitive behaviors) aren't talked about enough in general, let alone in headcanons or fics. I hope you're doing great, and I hope this brings some comfort!

Headcanons for Kakyoin helping a reader who picks their skin/has dermatillomania:

As we know, Kakyoin is familiar with feeling singled out for being "different." If he finds out that you struggle with something, especially if you've felt alone or misunderstood as a result of it, he's going to have your back.

If you ever have scratches or scrapes or even are bleeding because you were picking, he might ask just to make sure you're not hurt. In all honesty, his first thought is just to make sure it wasn't the work of an enemy stand user. When you then explain to him that you pick your skin compulsively, he nods in understanding, then apologizes if he made you feel uncomfortable or embarrassed.

Otherwise, if you simply choose to tell him yourself in your own time, he thanks you for opening up to him about it and listens attentively while you explain.

He'll never let anyone give you a hard time about your picking habits, number one. While you express to him that it's frustrating and you'd like to get better at handling your derm, he knows that shaming or pressuring you about it won't help you at all.

Kakyoin is nothing if not loyal, and he's just as dedicated in his romantic relationships. Once he gets past any initial hesitation about expressing his feelings? He always makes sure to let you know that you're important to him and he cares about you, whether it's by outright telling you he loves you, or through small gestures and words.

Pls. Ballet is how Kak keeps his figure. It’s how Pol is so graceful and quick. Avdol finds the breathing extremely relaxing. Jotaro thinks it’s a good way to keep active that’s not obnoxious like other sports. Joseph might be there to be a bit of a perv, but he won’t tell anyone that, and he finds himself getting real into it.

Kakyoin’s lean muscle and long limbs give him an excellent build to be a dancer. He always gets compliments on his form, and he’s very graceful. He has great rehearsal outfits, including some leg warmers that have cherries on them.

Polnareff loves the beauty of the movements— if they’d still have stands in a dance au, Pol is quick to remind anyone who might scoff at him doing ballet that “the word for a male ballet dancer is a cavalier! A knight! Courtly and gallant! Like me and like my Silver Chariot!”

Avdol finds the breathing and the stretches almost meditative. He enjoys the feeling of barre exercises, feeling the stretch deep in his muscles. He probably has some great leg warmers, too. He’s always early for any rehearsals so he can warm up.

Jotaro likes that ballet is challenging and intense without a lot of the loud crowds and everything that come with other sports. He probably couldn’t have gotten out of being a dancer since the old man was one and wanted him to continue the family tradition, but he enjoys it. You’ll often find him working alone in the studio when he wants time to think.

The studio has been passed down through the Joestar family, with Jonathan originally inheriting it from his instructor, William Zeppeli. Joseph definitely used ballet as an excuse to flirt with the pretty ballerinas when he was younger, and he’ll often brag that that’s how he met Suzi! Have you ever given a lot of thought to the fix Araki made for himself when Kakyoin’s first name was presented incorrectly in the manga? The idea that Noriaki was childhood nickname, as young people would often do this with the alternate reading of the kanji.

It always leads me to the idea that he purposely used the nickname as a way to maintain the distance he felt in a defiant way. An almost “since you can understand me, you don’t even get my real name” sort of deal. You get Noriaki because there’s little chance you will understand Tenmei.

But imagine being the one person who he determines sees and hears him so thoroughly and completely, your allowed to know his actual name.

I love this interpretation of it so much… a name can be a very intimate thing, having certain things only some people call you, names reserved only for the people closest to you, things of that nature. The idea that he starts only going by the nickname out of defiance is amazing, but then the idea of being the one person he trusts so thoroughly, the one person who knows him so well that he’d tell you his real name and let you use it… that has me breathless in the best way.

After so many years of stubbornly going by Noriaki, there’s something that melts in Kakyoin at the way you say “Tenmei,” the sound of your voice and the way your mouth shapes the syllables. It’s sweeter when you say it, not only because of how he feels about you, but because he knows you understand how important this is to him, and you know him better than anyone ever has before. He feels seen with you, and more at home than he’s ever felt.
