The Bridgerton manor is quiet to all but Anthony this time of night. Exhaustion weighs heavy on his bones as he treads silently through the darkened halls. Call it superstition, or perhaps paranoia, but he’s never gone to bed without completing his nightly ritual.

Benedict’s room is first at the end of the hall. Anthony pauses for a second and slows his breathing. Beyond the brightly painted door, he can sense Benedict’s heartbeat. It’s erratic from what was probably another late cup of coffee, but strong. Beside him, Eloise’s pulse thrummed at a slightly slower rate. So the two were up late, again. Anthony had once caught them still up at dawn synthesizing a new compound for Benedict’s paintings, dark smudges beneath their eyes and matching grins splitting their faces before they registered Anthony’s presence. Anthony smiles at the memory. They are lucky he isn’t in the mood to spoil their fun today.

Colin’s room is empty as he is still on his Grand Tour, so Anthony keeps moving. Daphne’s room is next. His favorite sister is quietly asleep, her heartbeat slow and steady. Something in his blood calls to her, her powers briefly brushing his own. Even in her sleep, she is a formidable Heartrender, second only to him. Anthony lingers for a second longer. He wouldn’t be able to check in on her like this for much longer, given her impending marriage to Simon.

He pulls himself away with a soft sigh and moves on. Francesca is away as well, but Hyacinth and Gregory are sleeping peacefully in their shared room, tired out by the picnic they’d had by the lake earlier. They’d driven their nanny almost to insanity with their combined energy. Anthony listens for another moment, then continues on to the last bedroom.

Violet Bridgerton sleeps alone, as she has for the last fifteen years. Anthony’s powers weren’t developed enough before his father had died, so her solitary heartbeat is the only one he has ever known. He wonders how it could still be this strong when in the days after Edmund’s death, it was so quiet he thought his powers were broken. He could never do that to someone else, to leave them behind a shell of themself. His hands clench involuntarily.

Violet is strong. She’ll manage. He sends her good dreams, then forces himself to leave.

Edwina’s pretty face breaks into a smile as she is ushered to the front of the room. Her dark hair had been pulled into an artful updo and silk flowers had been haphazardly pinned to the spill of curls. She wore a pale dress covered with sparkling beads that clicked together with every movement. There is a certain girlish charm to her that Anthony supposes is appealing, but he is hardly enraptured like half the men in the room.

At some unknown cue, the lights in the room are extinguished. A hush falls over the shadowed crowd.

Then, there is light.

Spidery sunlight pools in Edwina’s palms and catches on the beads of her dress, scattering light across the room. Her face is alight with joy as she spreads her arms wider and the light grows.

The crowd oohs and aahs at the display of power, but Anthony’s attention is elsewhere. Half-hidden in Edwina’s shadow is another woman, closer to his age than Edwina. She has the same eyes and nose as Edwina, and the light manages to catch her regal profile and render her a study in shadows. But the thing that catches his attention is that even in a room full of people, her heart seems to beat the loudest. He takes a step towards her.

Their eyes meet.

“What are you doing here?” Anthony demands, his traitorous heart leaping at seeing Kate. She’s wearing a smart blue dress today, matching silk gloves covering her arms from the bright sun. Mud-stained riding boots peek out from beneath the hem. Clearly, she intends to spend a day with the horses, which is why Anthony is so bewildered by her presence at the training grounds.

Kate surveys the area with a critical eye, her head tilted at that aggravating angle that made it look like she was looking down at him despite the several inches he had on her. Anthony’s blood boils as she opens her mouth. “I wanted to see what the big fuss was about.”

“It’s dangerous for you here,” Anthony growls. It would only take a second of distraction from any of the Grisha dotting the course, and Kate could be hurt. The thought causes his skin to itch. “If you want to observe, do it from the house.”

“Oh please,” Kate says dismissively. “How can you expect me to be frightened when I saw Mr. Levington there fall off his horse last week because she spooked at a rabbit?”

Anthony looks at where Kate’s gaze is directed, and sure enough, Levington is trying to levitate water out of the lake with little success. The front of his shirt is already soaked, and wet hair is plastered to his forehead. What an imbecile.

When he turns back to Kate, she’s still staring at Levington, a small smirk playing on her lips. Anthony scowls and steps in front of her to block her view. “Leave,” he ordered.

Kate tilts her head to the side. “Do you always expect people to jump at every order you give?”

“Yes.”

The two stare at each other, having reached a clear impasse. Anthony can’t help noticing the way the sun turns her eyes into warm honey, dark lashes blinking slowly as she glowered at him. Her heartbeat thumps steady in his ears, both a reassurance and an annoyance.

“Watch out!” a voice cries from the distance.

Anthony sees it a split second after the warning. A stream of bright fire hurtles toward them from behind Kate, too fast to be avoided. His pulse roars as he grabs her shoulders and shoves her roughly to the ground, his shoulders curved around her body. The air is unbearably hot. He squeezes his eyes shut and waits.

One breath.

Kate’s heartbeat slowing until it was silent.

Two.

Kate’s last breath leaving her body in a final gasp.

“My lord.”

Kate’s body still in his arms–

“Anthony!”

His eyes fly open. Blood rushes in his ears, everything is tinted red. Kate peers up at him from the ground, her brows furrowed in concern. Her cheeks are flushed and her eyes bright.

“Breathe,” she says as if calming a spooked animal. “Breathe.”

“You are unharmed?” he chokes out. His hands fumble at her shoulders, her arms. He cannot breathe. “Kate, are you–”

“I am fine.” Kate grabs his hand and holds it to the bare skin over her heart. Her skin is burning to the touch. “Breathe, my lord. Listen.”

Anthony forces a breath through his lungs and the fog dissipates just enough that he can remember how to use his power. Kate’s heart races, her lungs fill with air. Alive. He clings to the rhythm of her breaths like a lifeline.

“I am unharmed,” Kate repeats, more softly this time. Her other hand presses his free hand to his own heart so he can feel his own heartbeat. Warmth seeps through the thin silk of her glove.

He focuses on the brown of her eyes and slows his breaths. This close, he can count her eyelashes, each one ebony black and perfectly curved. Her heart beats on.

One.

Two.

He leans in closer. She smells like lilies, the sharp scent of char cutting through. Her breath fans across his lips as her head tilts toward him and–

“Are you both alright?”

They spring apart. Anthony scrubs the back of his hand against the lower half of his face as Kate jumps to her feet. Her dress is hopelessly stained and wrinkled, but he can’t see any other damage. She still stares at him, her eyes wide.

“I must– I will go,” Kate says firmly before turning on her heel and striding purposefully back towards the house. Anthony watches her go, still a little dazed.

“Bridgerton!” Lord Lumley panted as he finally reached Anthony’s side. His jacket was charred at the cuffs and soot was smeared across his face. “Are you alright? I lost control of the fire for a second there.”

Anthony stares uncomprehendingly at the ground. The manicured grass is singed and blackened in a perfect circle around where the both of them had been laying on the ground. Had there been a squaller around who saw and aided them?

“Bridgerton?”

“I’m fine,” he responds curtly. “Stay off the training grounds if you’re not experienced enough.”

“Of course, my lord,” he says with a low bow. “My apologies, again.”

Anthony stares at the grass and wonders.

“You’ve been lying to everyone.”

Kate laughs, throwing her head back and letting her curls tumble down her back. Anthony doesn’t think it’s a laughing matter, but he stares all the same.

“I’ve never lied, my lord. People see what they want to, and I’m under no obligation to correct them.” Her heart beats steady and strong, a sure sign she was telling the truth. But Anthony has no idea how he’s been so blind, how he couldn’t have seen what now is so obvious. Kate Sharma is flame and ash, burning everything in her path. Fire burns beneath her skin and in the curve of her smile and he suddenly wants nothing more than to touch her, to feel the heat of her skin against his.

His heart is racing and there’s nothing he can do to slow it despite his powers. He takes a step closer, relishing the warmth radiating from her. His fingers brush the side of her face. “Show me,” he says, his voice almost a whisper.

“You and your orders.” But still, she cups her hands together and a small flame appears, white hot and blinding in the dark. Anthony stares until the shape of it is imprinted into his retinas. It twines around her fingers like a ribbon before she clasps her hands together and it snuffs out. The library is plunged into darkness, but Anthony doesn’t need light to hear the thrumming of her pulse, the air in her lungs. Even with the hundreds of souls currently under the Bridgerton roof, all he can feel is Kate.

He lets his hand cup the side of her jaw, keeps it there as he matches her breathing and stares. Kate traps her hand there with her own, her palms calloused and feverishly hot. Her dark eyes are alight with the small use of her power, splinters of moonlight reflecting in their depths. He feels as if he’s drowning.

“How long has it been since you told someone?” At this point, he knows he’s only grasping at straws to keep his sanity in check. He desperately tries to focus on the rhythm of her heartbeat and not her full lips as she parts them to answer him.

“Years. Longer since someone has asked.”

Daphne gestures exasperatedly at him. “You taught me yourself, brother. I am not mistaken. Love is when your eyes meet and your heart begins to beat faster–”

Daphne’s features shift between expressions for a moment before they settle on displeased. “Deny it all you want. But feelings like these have a way of surfacing, sooner or later.”

Anthony poured himself another generous drink. He could feel an oncoming headache. “If I wanted your advice, I would have asked. Don’t you have a wedding to plan?”

Daphne scowls and Anthony’s chest suddenly feels like it is being squeezed by a giant.

“Don’t be childish,” he rebukes, slightly out of breath. Her scowl deepens, but the pressure on his chest disappears. He sucks in a deep breath.

“I only want for you to be happy. And if that is a future with Miss Sharma, then so be it.”

Anthony slams the decanter back onto the table with a little more force than necessary. His heartbeat is deafening.

“There is no future with Miss Sharma, Daphne. Do not bring it up again.”

If he thought she looked angry before, she is downright furious now. Her brows slant downwards and her hands clench into fists. He is just beginning to seriously worry for his life when she finally nods.

“Fine. As you wish, brother.”

“It is my fault,” Anthony mumbles as he pressed the heels of his hands into his eyes. Starbursts of light erupt across his vision. “It is all my fault.”

He can feel his mother’s hand on his arm, but he feels detached from his body as if he might float away at any moment. Everything is too loud. The pounding of rain on the window pane. The creaking of floorboards from the story above. His own heartbeat, two for every one of Violet’s.

“Oh, Anthony,” Violet sighs. Her hand pats his shoulder and he slumps into her side like he is still a child. This far from the Danbury residence, he can no longer hear Kate’s heartbeat, but the slow rhythm of it is ingrained in his mind like the ticking of a clock. He wants to cry, to scream, but all he feels is a dull ache in his chest and a lightness in his head that makes it difficult to focus on anything at all.

“Cure me,” he implores. Violet had healed all his scrapes and bruises as a child, magicked it away with a warm hand and a kiss to his forehead. What is this if not another gaping wound? He puts a hand to his chest. “Cut away the part that hurts.”

“My sweet boy,” Violet says gently. She hugs him to her side.  “There is no cure for love.”

Anthony Bridgerton is an early riser, but that is something he is willing to sacrifice for the sake of his wife. He runs a hand through Kate’s curls as she dozes on his chest, her skin warm against his. There’s a furrow in her brow that does not disappear even in sleep and he can’t help pressing a kiss to it.

She shifts and mumbles something unintelligible, but soon settles back against him. Anthony has never felt so content.

Their hearts beat in synchronization, strong and steady and true.

Being a woc fan of Bridgerton can be a struggle, especially when it comes to liking the poc characters on the show, especially the woc. Like I remember when s1 came out and the blatant microaggressions and just plain racism coming from this fandom was atrocious. You had people spewing very hateful things about Charlotte, Marina, and Simon and undermining the latter two's pain and trauma at the hands of the white characters---Marina was treated terribly by the Featheringtons and, whether you like Penelope or not, you cannot deny that she also played a part by releasing that letter to the Ton and Simon was violated Daphne no matter how people try to spin the story to offer her some form of sympathy (it still blows my mind that people would want to though).

S2 is just as bad (not even including how they changed the Sharma family's storyline than how it was in the books when that wasn't necessary) and the racist undertones many of the fans have towards Mary and Edwina (as well as Kate but for her it's carries more brown woman needing to be saved by a white man when Anthony is involved because a lot of you all in the fandom are quick to use this trope such as "oh, he's the only one who truly knows her"). The lack of screen time for this family really ends up hurting them to but even with that, whether you like Mary and Edwina or not, it would be a lie to deny the racism a lot in the fandom hold towards them (and how that falls onto the actresses because it was very apparent how many in the fandom couldn't let two Desi women shine without having to bring down the other and Netflix played into that too for drama) and paints every small thing they do as being terrible crimes but in the same breath will not have the same smoke for the Bridgertons, who have their own set of problems (but because they are also the main family, among other things, they are provided more grace without consequences).

I had no idea Simone Ashley faced mistreatment from production could you link some posts talking about it please?

i don’t think there is like one masterpost (if anyone knows of one please let me know!!!!) but what they meant by that is basically how simone (and to a certain degree jonny as well) was basically boycotted by the bton production team. she had little in the way of interviews/mag covers, they didn’t have many interviews together (i think they had like two?? that i remember off the top of my head), they seemed to prefer to send her with either nicola or charithra or both instead of on her own like phoebe did for s1 which people interpreted as netflix not believing in simone’s star power and/or being racist towards her. it was almost like she was a side character or one of the mains and not THE main character (along with jonny obv) of the season. i think this is true, it’s clear to me that simone and phoebe were treated differently and i would bet it’s racism tbh, but i don’t throw out the possibility something else might have happened with the production team. regé also seems to have had a bad experience with the team in general, so much so he doesn’t even wanna hear a peep about bridgerton, and unfortunately i don’t think it’s a coincidence that the two non white leads of both seasons seem to have had negative experiences w them

That bridgerton sneak peak had some good chemistry they might make me tune in idk, I usually agree with you on most things ship related but I have a problem with this specific ship, Colin is the least interesting of the siblings so far but that's okay I didn't care for anthony either before his season, my bigger problem is Penelope, I think they tried to go for the drama and the twists too much and made her seem kind of awful? They're trying to pretend racism doesn't exist in that era but the way she outed Marina in s1 ( who was not doing a good thing at all but I don't she had much of a choice given her other option was abject poverty) and the way she talks about her friends in her column and outs everyone's shit, things that have really serious consequences on people's lives. The writers literally called her a villain which???? They're doing something I feel a lot of shows have a problem with lately, trying to girlboss women doing shitty things, same with their brand of white feminism for Eloise who spends all her scenes lamenting her fate and being "quirky" with no actual depth or confronting her privilege or trying to help other women or really anything at all, all she does is talk like a "not like other girls" girlie circa Tumblr 2012 and they're thinking omg we're being such feminists right now 🤣😅🤣

Girllll you better tune in anyway so we can get more seasons and other ships you might like better! PRESERVE OUR LIMITED ROMANCE GENRE.

In all seriousness, I totally get where you’re coming from! I personally love polin and I’m very excited for them, but I don’t think the writing has always been the best. Obviously a lot of polin fans don’t agree with me, but I still think this season not being Benedict’s is so strange and a mistake. The general audience adores him and I think both Colin and Penelope could’ve done with another season of personal growth (and slow burn) to help them win over the rest of the audience more. I like Colin and I think he’s actually really funny when they give him a chance, but he’s done nothing to scream leading man like Benedict has yet. I guess S3 will tell us how much is on the writing so far vs Luke Newton. I want him to be so amazing, but I get the doubts because I still have some nerves about it too. I think the sneak peek looked great and is a great start so I’m gonna go in with optimism and positive thoughts!

Gotta defend Eloise because I think her thinking she’s ranting and valid but actually being more out of touch than she realizes is mostly purposeful! I like that as a character flaw and I think it’s realistic for someone in her position. Or maybe I just love Eloise lol. Penelope is a bit of a more… complex case. I see why people hate her, although I personally mostly like her even though I think she sucks for what she did to the Bridgertons. She’s just treated so polarizing one way or the other by the fandom and the producers are obsessed with her and I think that’s part of the problem.

I have doubts any of the Bridgerton ships will beat kathony for me but overall this fandom is so weird! I don’t get the ship wars amongst the ships because they are all canon and they’re all meant to have their spotlight and be enjoyed. I don’t mean you anon when I say this btw, I mean more the hardcore Bridgerton fandom. It’s why I don’t engage with them a lot lol. I just want to enjoy a cute ship every season.

In the show do you think Polin's son will be the Featherington heir? I feel like there's very little chance it won't go that way, but also I really want them to keep Agatha 🥺 I love that bond between Lady D and Pen and I'm kind of afraid it won't happen, because they kind of gave it to Kate.

We already had Saphne's first child changed to a boy and I can't see Kathony not having Edmund.

while i love agatha in concept, given that it's very unlikely we're gonna see pen and danbury have a similar relationship from book to show, i really don't think show polin would name their daughter agatha anyway. in the show, lady danbury is an older black woman and having her fulfill the magical older woman matchmaker trope is... something. and you're right, they did emphasize kate/danbury in s2 so i doubt they'll repeat it since they've already shown they don't want to repeat tropes/roles even if it does in the books. (me, being bitter: except with daphne playing the matchmaking role for kathony instead of colin)

(i do think we might pen/qc bonding in some way though... maybe their daughter's name will be charlotte?? which oof poor kathony baby... unless they rename her to be chandra - as they should anyway. chandra & madhav supremacy over here)

idk what the show is gonna do with polin children bc... frankly, they're so young on the show in comparison to the books (my biggest issue with s3 polin but i digress) that i hope we don't mention kids until s4 maybe. but yeah, i do think we'd get thomas - if not first, maybe twins or something, to establish that yeah, colin and penelope inherit the featherington estate.

I'm not a polin Stan in the least. Collin is boring and pen is a literal villain. I've seen her compared to Perez Hilton and Dan Humphrey. Which I think are accurate comparisons.

And I started watching bridgerton for kathony. So my petty gremlin brain lives for the fact within the bridgerton universe Penelope will always be outranked by her sister-in-laws. She's just the wife of the 3rd son.

Sorry I'm just laughing at your '3rd son' comment because now I'm just remembering when I saw some Polin stan on Twitter call Colin: "Lord Featherington" which is just SOOOO funny on so many levels:

Women in that time took their husband's last names so he'd still just be 'Mister Bridgerton'

Even if men did take their women's last name he wouldn't be Lord b/c Penelope isn't even the oldest sibling

Portia already stated that the Lordship would pass to the first son any of her daughter's have so even if they had a kid first he'd never be a Lord

Also I think it's even more funny that the show made Colin look like Pen's father for his S3 'glow up':

Colin will never be 'important' compared to Anthony or even Benedict, who ends up with his paintings hanging in a National Gallery. What does Colin ever accomplish in his sad and pathetic life other than being Pen's lap dog?

But yeah, it is pretty funny that Pen will be outranked by two (and eventually three b/c Francesca eventually becomes a countess so...) of her sister in laws.

Not to mention that even Sophie is loved by all of Ben's family so much so that Violet threatens to blackmail her stepmother for embezzling Sophie's dowry.

Pen won't be loved by any of the Bridgerton's compared to others.

Totally agree with you on s1 Anthony! I watched it before i read the first couple of books and kept wondering, why is this character getting so much screentime and even fastforwarding his scenes 😆 flash forward to s2 where i'm fastforwarding all the scenes where he or Kate are not present 😉

licherally had to be dragged by my hair into watching s2 bc i hated the end of s1 SO MUCH (for daphne reasons) lol but i'm so gld i did because everything about anthony makes so much more sense when you have the larger picture. like for example, the duel clownery with simon? because he thinks he's gonna die anyway! and that's just a small example. season two is so immediately better than season one honestly. that flashback of edmund dying? when they tell anthony that he has to decide whether to save his mother or his unborn brother because HE is now lord bridgerton and violet is like "he's just a child!" 😭 and the slowburn of kathony is 100000% hotter than the thousand unearned sex scenes of s1 🤭 (that said i literally hope s3 starts with kate and anthony raw dogging it lol)

Idk if and when you'll start answering benophie asks again but I cant help but notice how all the 🌼 that shit on aofag by saying its classist and elitist are also the same people who don't want to see that story played out on screen. It's such textbook virtue signaling and I'm tired of it. Just a lot of shit happened on this blog and then when you sent this in I was trying to keep my blog ‘neutral’ because some people took offence to my post calling you-know-whos after a old timey disease and decided that we wouldn’t be impartial with our poll results which btw I apologise to everyone who is still waiting for it - I’ve been depressed (I’m fine don’t worry it just be like that sometimes) and my friends all have started school/work so life has happened we’re going to try to compile everything starting this weekend hopefully! Sophie saved their book!! And also we have Luke T to thank for making Ben even more likeable! Ben has his charming moments in the books but we all - even those of us who love him - gotta admit he was so creepy at times being so pushy. I think its good for us Benophines to accept that part of him in Book Canon and engage critically with that aspect of him. 

However that being said, you’re absolutely right about the way other subfandom fans can be so annoying about our ships by acting all high and mighty about their ship both being virgins. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that inherently and it can be romantic - but to act like that somehow makes their racist faves a morally better couple??? Do they realise they sound super puritan and like Church Pastors and Nuns who scared us former Christian kids into not having sex cos it was supposedly a sin?? 

It’s funny when you realise now most of them are trying to their couple out to be Kathony 2.0 in order to generate the hype for S3 its pretty sad that they don’t even believe in their own ship to let them be their own people.

To end this ask off I do wanna reiterate two very poignant points you made in your ask:

Actually I’m a little be afraid because every time a listen or watch or read an interview of Simone, I’m so excited about season 3, she makes a lots of speculation and of course you think that she knows something so maybe it’s not just her wishes but somenthing that she kwen, also because she knows at least how much time she will have, so maybe she always put in her wishes a lots of things. And you think “okay, so she knows that she will be on screen enough time for exploring all that” and then I read or listen or watch Johnny interview and he is so “yeah I will be in the background, yeah luke Luke, yessssss I’m just will pass on the screen for like 1 minute to support Luke” and I’m suddenly become very pessimist

Jonny is a team player, always has and always will be. So if you expect him to actually say: yeah, i'm going to have a decent amount of screentime, when they ask him about passing the baton to other actors (and they rarely ask him about his actual storyline in s3 btw, so there's that too), then you're going to be severely disappointed. That doesn't mean anything about his actual screentime, he could be the secondary's character with the most screentime and still be like: Luke is awesome, and all of that.

Also just a little bit of advice, but if you're going to overthink every answer they give, you're going to be pretty miserable until s3 is going to be released, because expecially now that they have recieved the scripts, they are probably going to reveal as little as possible.

P.S: this is also the last answer i'm going to give to these type of asks, because they almost turn out always the same? lol Like you worry after every interview, i'm going to reassure you, more or less, and so on. You all know my stance about this by now, I think Kathony is going to have a subplot, but until s3 is going to be released nobody will know for sure. We just all need to accept that, and just hope for the best.

Sorry, this is the last one, I promise. When I say "them" I mean the people, not the actors, which is still misunderstood. I agree that maybe the kathonys don't want to accept that they aren't besties because it would put an end to that "illusion" but I don't think they do anything wrong, really. I also think that people idealize their favs too much (including myself) and that is dangerous especially with white men. I agree with you. As for the homophobic anons I remember because then I was still mutual with the blog who got them. Listen people have called me homophobic regarding JB. I didn’t send those anons cause I’m not. My best friends are gay man, the people who know absolutely everything about me. My blog before Kanthony was about gay ships. I know It sounds corny and fake but it’s true. Not liking someone has nothing to do with their sexuality. I never even talked about it because why the hell would I? His fans throw a temper tantrum because they can’t handle someone not liking their fave and the first thing they can think of is call you homophobic. Yesterday I saw someone say they wish JB was liked universally but that doesn’t happen because he is gay. That’s psycho behaviour to think a person has to be liked only because they are gay. basically it's the latest in a long list of shondaland snubbing simone.

so, two days back netflix made this post linking to an article by tudum promoting season 3.

in talking about the s3 cast the article made mention of every single minor character that has made an appearance in the show.

guess who never got an honorary mention in spite of being the leading lady of the most successful bridgerton season?

and of course people tried to come up with excuses about how maybe kate won't be around this season, even though she has talked in interviews about kate's role as a supporting character in s3 (not to mention that even if she were to make just a fleeting cameo, imagine bending over backwards to justify characters like cressida or brimsley or the mondrichs being mentioned but not the main draw of the previous season).

the only mention of kate was as anthony's "love interest". i guess penelope gets to be the star of the entire show (that's supposed to be about the bridgerton family but has turned into the lady whistledown show) but kate can't even be seen on equal terms with anthony when it comes to her own season.

coincidentally the writer of the article is the same woman who messed up kate's name in an article about the families of the bridgerton universe about two months ago.

and this disrespect towards simone and her character isn't a recent development.

simone was the only cast member to be excluded from the promotional video for season 3 (where they just so happened to use the kathony finger trick that was an easter egg for their love story and number of children they would have)

also, when shondaland published an article about season 3 less than two months after kate and anthony's season premiered, they made sure to mention NC by name as the star of the show. meanwhile the leading lady of the season they'd just released, which had become a huge success surpassing that of s1, was an unnamed "South Asian woman".

that's on top of the atrocious treatment of simone during season 2, where she was reduced to a side character in an ensemble show, where the production was more concerned with selling NC as the next female lead (from the solo poster and EW photoshoot to her face as the fucking thumbnail of the teaser for kate and anthony's season) and to a lesser degree the upcoming QC spin-off.

I’m not too worried about them ruining Kathony because that would mean giving them screentime and considering how much they sidelined them in their own season, there’s no way they’ll allow them to shine in s3. Especially when everyone in production is obsessed with Polin. I don’t think they’d want viewers caring more about Kate’s story than Pen’s. We will anyway, ofc, but they’re not gonna want us to. 😆 I mean, that’s how I’m comforting myself. They’ll just be in the show for like, 8 minutes of shared screentime and if it keeps bridgerton from fucking around with my girl, I’ll be happy.
