I have had this ask in my box for about a year. If you're still around, anon, these pencil doodles are for you!
I had so much trouble with Stinkie and I straight up gave up with Snivel lmao

I live in the Midwest, ok. So I'm well aware of the "they sky turns green before a tornado" thing.
I've grew up with Casper's Haunted Christmas, which mean I grew up knowing who Kibosh is.
He is a green ghost associated with storms and tornados.
and I've known all of of these facts for all my life.
aND ONLY TODAY! HAVE I CONNECTED THE FACT, THAT HE'S LIKELY GREEN BECAUSE OF THE FACT THAT THE SKY TURNS GREEN DURING TORNADOS!
I'M SO DUMB!

I think he's making friends with the neighbors tech priests! These were todays creations, and that is *not* the usual symbol he stamps on things! He carved the skull one last week, but the more complicated gear and skull and bits one is from yesterday!

It's good to see him really settling in here! :D

i’d like to thank whoever on the veronica mars team realized that logan’s hair needed to be dyed before he and veronica got together. they knew what we all know to be true. that veronica would simply never kiss a man with frosted tips.

Good lord, The Hands of the Emperor needs to come with a warning label for people who have a praise kink. This book is, in print, something like 940 pages long, and the entire last third of it consists of the previously self-effacing, underappreciated protagonist giving righteous monologues and receiving accolades.
Chapter 51: Two years have passed. Here’s a committee meeting.
Chapters 59-76: Here are twelve hours between coffee and after-dinner drinks, during which time Kip’s entire adult life is reviewed, dissected, and praised by everyone he has ever met, and numerous people who are meeting him for the first time gradually realize that he is a stealth badass who runs their entire world.

We have moved past the need to celebrate or indeed discuss conventionally feminine women's political wardrobes. Oh you're a cis woman in the Senate and we're devoting a page in the NYT style section to your choices? Please. Society has grown beyond this.
Listen I love fashion, I love the silent language of dressing and what it means for our communication and how we perceive others and ourselves, but this shit in politics specifically is lipstick on a pig. I know what Kyrsten Sinema's dopey little outfits are supposed to communicate, or Nancy Pelosi's pink cocoon coat. I don't need coverage of them, or for us to pretend that this kind of conversation is politically meaningful outside of how these individuals imagine themselves. They're not celebrities, who are paid to dress, or even politicians’ partners, who are honestly just image boosters, regardless of gender. These people are public servants, and my half baked hot take is that they should be in something like a school uniform.

I was reading your tags on that reblogging and good lord the complex discussion of Dhimmi (or related statuses) in the Islamic world gets so simplified on this site for god knows what reason—in that post I was writing about the Jews of Ibb I was going to mention how it was common place particularly in North Yemen for specific tribes to adopt pacts with the local Jews as “neighbors” and hence intimate members of the community who were protected by the local tribal law and consequently why Jews and Muslims had virtually the same dialects of Arabic in any given area; but that’s a complex matter I don’t think people would readily engage with because most of what’s said about Jews in Yemen is particular to urban Jewish communities who were directly in contact with as you mentioned, the ebb and flow of both anti-Semitic and pluralistic leaders at any given time. Like in specific the Zaydi Imamate always went back and forth on the matter within Sa‘dah, despite their control of neighboring tribal areas being hardly tangible at best and those local tribes (such as in Razih for instance) being rather tolerant of the local Jewish communities prior to the introduction of Saudi Wahhabism in the late 20th century.
It’s such a complex topic, and it’s so necessary to engage with. I just wanted to thank you for mentioning that really.
!! Yeah, there's a tendency to flatten it into one extreme or the other (and to act like the experiences of one group given Dhimmi status are the same as another group). Like, dhimmitude itself is a complex political concept because it's protected status, but it's nature as (to an extent, which at times was greater or lesser as you point out) a segregated status can lead into very harmful policies, which gets into Copts and cultural genocide (dhimmitude on its own, from my understanding, didn't have that impact, but when combined with other laws and cultural/religious/political forces, it can be very hard to read about policies that fell under Dhimmi related laws and not think about the broader impact had on our language and culture, and how conversion is used as a weapon against Coptic women in particular even today).
But situations were it doesn't, in fact, separate the community, tend to be ignored if not outright considered false. In some rural communities in Egypt there would be a very limited distinction between Copts and Muslims- in part, often because everyone there knew for a fact that the Muslim fellahin had been Coptic fellahin until a few generations back (a situation that gets generalized to all of Egypt and used as a rhetorical cudgel in really stupid ways against Copts on the assumption that genetics is the main or only factor in who is or is not Indigenous). This is also true in Judaism, for its own different can of worms about the way (in my experience) a certain type of white Jewish man will have anxiety regarding race mixing and project it onto the past and in situations where that makes no sense, and for political reasons to cast the diaspora as a unique site of misery.

one thing i was not at all prepared for about having to go without glasses for a week is how the navigating my environment itself isn't a huge barrier--i have to be really slow and careful and it's annoying, but it hasn't actually stopped me from doing things including in the 'god this is going to be a hassle, i don't even want to start' way--but the major loss/change in sensory input as well as Oh God the HUD is Wrong is apparently a huge depression trigger. replacements cannot happen soon enough
#moogletalks#second half reminds me of when i tried contacts for a few weeks as a teenager and Dear Reader I Hated It#the contact care part aside it felt so SO bad to walk around places that aren't my bed without glasses on my face#and it turns out that feeling is the same whether i can or can't see while i'm wearing them!#i started wearing glasses full-time when i was eight and they're part of my brain and body map now#it used to throw me for a loop a lot when people talk about only wearing theirs part of the time; just because Wait but Your HUD#i thought maybe it was just a 'well i guess they must not need them as [often/heavily] as i to for daily life'#'i wouldn't be so freaked out by the idea of going about my day without mine if i weren't worried about not having them when i need them'#and tbh i think this kinda puts the kibosh on that because my vision *is* shitawful and things *are* more difficult without correction#My Life Would Not Be Unaffected on a Logistical Level#but i feel *considerably* less visceral OH SHIT FUCK THIS DERAILS EVERYTHING about it than many many many other smaller things#it's just kinda oh. well. alright then let's go#in fact i wish i could take a lot more things in stride like this one emotionally lmao#but the lack of the glasses themselves feels exactly as horribly wrong as it did over a decade ago#glasses can come with all sorts of fucking annoying problems and hassles to deal with!#but given the choice of affordable; sturdy; well-fitted glasses with the right prescription etc#i would 100% choose that over unassisted vision#including the increased peripheral vision i'd get from not wearing frames#braintag#adventures in mental illness

It does amuse me how people think “Oh no hatewatching Velma gave it a Season 2!”, like the Season 2 wasn’t already greenlit because that’s how animated shows work today because you don’t have to raise the staff’s pay if you book a whole season in advance and release it in multiple parts (I MEAN...SEASONS. SEASONS ONE AND TWO. *AND* 3! 3 WHOLE SEASONS!!!), so...yeah.
Please get smarter, yinz. Don’t get baited.

was that just a universal constant between kids of being told one of ur parents friends was an aunt or uncle . whats up with that,
ITS SO WEIRD I HATE IT like. i know for children their parents often exist in this nebulous "not a person who does person activities" void but the aunt/uncle thing just leads to further confusion later down the line bc the bald friend of my dad did just look like an evil twin of my dad. for real.
