Vegas has such a radar for "guys my cousin wants to fuck." I'm guessing the choking-out in the conference room was a clue.

Pol interrupting Kinn almost clueing Porsche in to their kiss the night before. I can't really imagine that conversation would have gone great, anyway.

It's okay, Kinn. This faked me out the first time, too.

I promise to move past this scene eventually, but someone on here posted a poll at some point about Kinn's most badass moment, and now I can't watch this scene without thinking "put a cheese slice on hot noodles in a very charged environment." Lord, these two really mastered the art of the onscreen kiss, huh? Also, Porsche looks so blissed out throughout this scene, it really heightens how the angst in Ep. 5 is gonna hit. At the same time, it's much less stressful to rewatch knowing that they're going to handle the dubious consent of it all with a multiple-episode arc rather than brushing it under the rug; I'm glad I basically binged this and didn't have to wait a week to see if they'd deal with it well.

just a little unimportant sidefact: if you look closely at Kim's little stalker-conspiracy-theory-detective pinboard, you'll see that the man Kinn shot in the first scene of episode one is crossed out at the bottom. I don't know exactly what that means yet (especially since I can't read or speak Thai), but I think it's an insanely exciting detail.

Mirror Mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?

Mirrors are typically used for moments of reflection, both physically and emotionally. To privately reflect on ones actions or to see the true reflection of ones self. In KP we see mirrors has a use of reflection but also a use of a character to look deeper into themselves and show their dual nature or their true personality. 

With Kinn, we see a depiction of reflection both in episode 7 and episode 5. In ep 5, we see Kinn force himself to forget about Porsche and what he did and how Porsche made him feel. We see this as Kinn is getting down and dirty with is toy boy. Kinn takes one glance at his reflection in the window (could also be used as a mirror) and we see his instant regret and beginnings of acceptance of guilt and demises into the feelings and love his has for Porsche. 

We also see Kinn reflect on his actions again in episode 7, as he cages in Porsche into the mirror, turning Porsche to face himself and making him understand and accept this moment, we see Kinn realizes his own self and reflect on the previous anger and possessiveness he showed Porsche. Here again he apologizes but this time he is overwhelmed with lust and jealously and begins relations with Porsche, this time with Porsche’s consent. As they begin, we see Kinn see his own reflection in Porsche’s eyes, a reflection he prefers in lust but a reflection he neglects in truth of himself.  With the use of mirrors, we see how weak Kinn is emotionally. He might be the heir to the head of the main mafia family and be strong and possessive, but when it comes to acceptance of feelings and love, Kinn becomes lost and afraid. Not being able to trust anybody. His reflection showing his insecurities and weakness.

In episode 5, we also see mirrors used as a way for Porsche to reflect and release his own pain and anger out at being taken advantage of. We see Porsche struggle with his feelings towards what happened between himself and Kinn. Here the mirror Porsche stares at reflects back the pain, disgust, confusion of the previous night but it also shows a reflection of lust and attraction. Something Porsche has to come to terms with. The mirror in this scene reflects the truth of Porsche feelings both surface level and deeper. The mirror doesn’t lie, and Porsche will have to come to terms with that.

Also in KP we see the use of mirrors in another way. Vegas’s uses mirrors to show his true form. As a mirror is a reflection of your true self, Vegas’s uses the mirrors to outline his dual nature, his true intentions behind the mask he shows to everyone. The ending of episode 4, we see Vegas stand completely naked in front of a mirror. Here Vegas can be his true self, he doesn’t have to hide away or cover the truth of his beaning. 

The colour red floods the scene, as us the audience is drawn into the realization of Vega’s true person. The say the devil isn’t a little red man with horns and a tail, they say he can be beautiful cause he is a fallen angel and he used to be gods favorite. The devil wont show his true colours until he knows he has got you. The only way to see the devil is to look at the devil through a mirror, to see his true self.

Something about the way this scene immediately follows Porsche’s stumble into the bathroom, and knowing that Vegas - dressed in white, like a diamond - is about to kidnap him, makes me think he is being positioned here in allegory as the King of Night, especially considering how much sunlight follows Kinn and Porsche through the show. But of course, the whole premise of the necklace being fought over by Kinn and Vegas also positions Porsche as the ‘King of Night’. Something coveted, but also in a position of power.

this scene hits different when you focus on the fact that porsche just remembered it was kinn that he kissed. and that he just saw kinn about to have sex with another guy. when porsche asks "if he didn't give me back to you, would you ever think of taking me back?" with that kind of somber expression, he is checking that the kiss didn't mean much to kinn. and when kinn says "for me, all of our people are the same" - it only confirms it. porsche’s disappointed and conflicted expression at the end captures all this.

Guess who finally made it to episode 4 of Kinnporsche?

My notes so far, in no particular order: Yes, it’s Tankhun with the metal tray for the win! Said in the voice of a wrestling announcer.

Vegas/Bible has phenomenal cheekbones.

Thank goodness fanfic has told me the words for older and younger brothers or else this conversation about knowing that Kinn has a brother would be terribly annoying. Yes, of course he has a brother, you literally left him with the massage auntie. But because I know that nong=younger brother and/or just plain younger dude in general, I knew what was going on. That and I’ve read almost every kimchay fic I can get my hands on.

Now to the actual kimchay (also…I keep wanting to pronounce Chay’s name with a Chinese ch but I’m pretty sure it’s supposed to sound like “shay”). Jeff has a pretty face and I’ve had that opinion since I managed to catch glimmers of Chay tracking him down to serenade him. This was way before I knew who the heck Kinn and Porsche were by the way.

I’m ambivalent on Jeff’s music. He’s more skilled than I am but it so far hasn’t grabbed me by the throat. That and I currently like say, Jackson Wang’s newer stuff more than whatever musical stylings Wik is supposed to be peddling. I will admit that Jeff’s cover of How Far I’ll Go from Moana was very nice to listen to.

Anyway…Chay has just walked up to the MC dude for his tee-shirt and I’m hoping I don’t have to close my eyes because of cringe. It’s kinda hard to read subtitles with your eyes closed.
