Okay so, Kinn asking Porsche if he wants to call his brother is so important. It’s the evidence Porsche needs that things aren’t just going to go back to the way they were before. They’ve returned to the real world after their forest getaway and Porsche is clearly unsure where they stand now and is expecting things to return to how they were, hence him immediately being like ‘I should go’ once they’re alone together for the first time.

BUT THEN Kinn uses the ‘boss’ card to ask him to stay and Apo pulls off the TINEST most subtle of smiles and it’s SO CUTE. But it’s still not definitive, it’s still playing into their old roles as Kinn and His Bodyguard.

Even when they both look so damn disgustingly happy when Porsche blithely confirms he isn’t leaving, it’s still played off in the ‘do you really have to ask that when I’m lying here?’ way.

BUT! The moment Kinn asks him if he wants to call his brother, Porsche knows:

Kinn knows me and what my heart values now

Kinn is volunteering taking actions/willingly offering something based on that knowledge

That thing is something he was Explicitly not allowed prior to their woodsy adventure

Things. Are. Different. Now.

I think that’s why Porsche looks up at him with such surprise. It’s so clear Kinn is only offering this out of his concern for his happiness - “Maybe I like it when you are happy.” Kinn is reinforcing that those words weren’t just a one-off or a one time offer. They’re his new state of being. And *that’s* why, when Porsche says thank you, he feels open and brave enough to offer something of his own. To confirm to Kinn that yes, okay, things have changed. I’m with you in that change.

tl;dr: if Kinn hadn’t offered that phone call, there would have been no handholding or cuddling
