Going to copy paste some of my Hard Rock Consumer journey
Random thread: I went to New York for a vacation once. I went to the hard rock cafe, where Grandma called it a ”tourist trap," but like all of us Times Square is. Also at this hard rock cafe, there was a Halsey collab where they try to sell you shit. (At least Halsey likes Nin.) Anyways, there was a lot of memorabilia there to sell you "rock"-related stuff. One section intrigued me, though. The bathroom area was full of bands that started in the 90s and early 2000s. I dubbed this area “Toilet music." Also, both of these bathrooms smelled terrible. Apologies for the weird edit in the images. I had to edit them for identity protection stuff.
So anyways, so Disturbed, Linkin Park, and… Jonathan Davis (Korn) is all toilet music (these first images even have proof they’re toilet music).
Tumblr media
Don’t recognize the people on the far left. Anyways, Adam Levine (Kora’s Flowers/Maroon 5) is toilet music.
Tumblr media
Marilyn Manson is toilet music, obviously. Honesty wouldn’t be surprised if a toilet made a cameo in a music video, but I'm not going to bother looking.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Al Jourgensen (Ministry) is toilet music.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Courtney Love (Hole) is toilet music. And, a young Kurt Cobain. Okay I’m not sure if this place had a section for Nirvana. I’d like to think they would get more dignity than the others. Might've been in an area I didn’t see. Cause that is way too small for such a well known band.
Tumblr media
Finally, the one I found last, there. It’s my girl, Reznor. Yeah i guess this one makes make sense. Like Pinion was a toilet thing, and closer had a toilet cameo. Although theTrent image they used is bad.

KING OF WRATH: Dante and Vivian
This is a bit different from my persistant Romance Club posts, but King of Wrath by Ana Huang has me thinking of a fan spin-off if they were to have a kid.
Their daughter is the POLAR opposite of both her parents, named Tatum Russo. She inherits her mom's hair and eyes, but she resembles her dad in the face. She is more laid back in personality, and is very close with her Aunt Agnes and Uncle Luca. She doesn't have a relationship with Celia or Francis, as Vivian and Dante don't want them to use her as a pawn, and she is aware of what they put them through with their arranged marriage.
Dante allows his own parents to visit her and they develop a straight bond. Tatum doesn't want to take over The Russo Group or Lau Jewels, because owning a business isn't her passion: music is.
While Dante and Vivian grew up with classy music, Tatum loves anything and everything rock and metal. Her room is covered in Rob Zombie, Korn, and Van Halen posters. She doesn't like to dress classy, preferably in shirts with cut-out jeans, dresses with leggings, and heavy eyeliner and mascara.
She doesn't associate herself with her parents' wealth. She believes you don't have to be rich to be happy, and works for her money. She is also a true friend, preferring to hang out with people who she knows won't take advantage of her wealth, and is into the metal scene of headbaning, while also avoiding moshpits because they're too much for her.
She has a thing for horror, and loves things that can give you a good scare. Her room has a glass case filled with memorabilia, from George Romero zombie figurines to classic slashers like Jason Voorhees and Learherface. On family movie night, Dante goes into her room and picks a few DVDs from a shelf.
Tatum realizes he picked movies from her George Romero collection, stopping on Day Of The Dead. She warns him of the gruesome scenes, but Dante tells her he hasn't seen his movies in years. Tatum persuades them to watch the original Night Of The Living Dead since she doesn't want to give her family even more nightmares, and scare her mother from watching another movie ever again. The movie is tame to where Vivian is more intrigued than horrified.
She loves to write her own songs and is killer on the guitar. Although Dante and Vivian try to be accepting of Tatum's tastes, Dante can't help but be horrified at her choice of music and movies. Vivian always laughs, defending that their daughter is just experimenting.
Despite her persona, Tatum is a good kid. She is confident and unafraid to speak out. She loves her parents a lot, although Dante sometimes has to yank her headphones off her head when she is listening to loud rock music. For Christmas, her parents would gift her an original guitar signed by the members of Van Halen.
When she grows up, she becomes the lead singer of her own successful band. They are like Lacuna Coil, except more gutteral and heavy. Tatum can transform her growls into a melodic symphony of octaves, almost like a siren. It'd be enough to chart a couple of singles, but moreso on the album sales.

thank you so much for the tag @lonesomecipher !! ✨
1. What is the first song you remember hearing?
Definitely a classical music piece, most likely Prokofiev or Mozart cuz my mom would play loads of classical music for me to fall asleep to as a kid.
2. What is the first band you got into?
The Beatles, when I was 11. Back then I was super into 80s pop music, and then my interest started shifting to even older music.
3. Do you collect any physical music?
Yes! 99% of what I collect are albums in CD form, and just a couple vinyls, one of which was gifted to me, cuz I have nothing to play vinyl on. Even though I try not to indulge too often, I do love going to the record store and buying albums a few times a year.
4. What is your favourite piece of music memorabilia?
Probably this Metallica Ride the Lightning flag I've got hanging on the wall above my bed. One of my favourite albums of all-time. And it moves with the wind when I open my window :')
5. The favourite concert you've been to?
I've been to 3 concerts in my life and although seeing System of a Down live was incredible, Metallica was my favourite concert purely because of how ecstatic I was to see my favourite band ever live. And they were amazing, as well. Only made better by the fact that I was able to share this fabulous experience with my mom, as all the concerts I've been to were with her. <3
6. If you could see one artist who is no longer alive in concert, who would it be?
Tough question cuz I could give so many answers, so either Queen with Freddie Mercury or Black Sabbath with Ronnie James Dio.
7. Have you met any musicians?
No, those concerts were the closest I got :D
8. What's your go to album when you're feeling sad?
There's actually quite a few, but the first one that springs to mind is Morningrise by Opeth.
9. What's your go to album when you're feeling happy?
Nothing in particular- on the contrary, when I'm happy is when I'll listen to anything and everything cuz I'll just be in the mood for music in general.
10. One music documentary you love?
I could list all the Metallica documentaries. I don't have a specific favourite that comes to mind right now.
11. What is one concert DVD that you love?
Quebec Magnetic.
12. Do you prefer listening to playlists or albums?
Albums 100%. I never make playlists and don't have any. I usually either listen to my entire music library on shuffle, click on specific artists in my library or listen to specific albums.
13. Do you listen to albums in order or on shuffle?
When I listen to an album, it's always in order. It would feel wrong otherwise. Plus many artists think so carefully about the order of their songs and the way they flow into the next song in order to tell a story, so I have to listen in the right order.
14. What is your favourite deep cut song by your favourite artist?
I keep saying it but either Ever Be or Starting Over by Korn, both of which are on their very underrated Untitled album. Idk why fans of the band never gave this album a chance- perhaps because it's slightly different from their original style, but in my opinion it's a musically more mature and complex album than what they'd done previously, and those two songs are beautifully crafted.
15. What is your favourite CD/ cassette/ vinyl you own in terms of its packaging?
For this question I must include a picture of said album I own- an Opeth limited edition My Arms Your Hearse tin case that contains the album.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I got it second hand a few years back for a ridiculously low price cuz apparently its previous owner had sold it to the record store I often go to. I immediately jumped on it. It's beautiful, in good condition, and I love the embossed Opeth logo.

Tagged by @glistening-gore and finally, have a day off to do it!!
1. What’s the first song you remember hearing?
I have a playlist of childhood songs! I think the one that particularly sticks out to be vivid would be Hot Child In The City, for some reason that song sticks out to be the most. Maybe Toxic as a runner-up?
2. What’s the first band you got into?
Korn or Satyricon tbh. I was like 9/10 or something. Maybe Marilyn Manson.
3. Do you collect physical music?
Yes! I collect records and tapes! I have over 300 records!
4. What is your favorite piece of music memorabilia?
Mmm I have Vinny Mauro's drum stick! I also have a pick from Ryan, Ricky and Devin! I need to get my hands on a setlist from them one day. I also own a bootleg of Danzig's self-titled album.
5. What’s your favorite concert that you’ve been to?
This is a hard one. Probably FIDLAR because it was just such an insanely fun show. Iron Maiden always puts on an incredible show though and so did Kiss. Oh, maybe Dropkick Murphy's?? I was on stage for that one and that was fucking sick. OR SLIPKNOT. OR SLAYER. BOTH THOSE WERE REALLY GOOD TOO. I've been so many good ones it's so hard to pick.
6. If you could see any artist that’s no longer alive in concert, who would it be?
David Bowie and Type-O Negative. Also would have loved to see Static X with Wayne Static.
7. Have you met any musicians?
Yes! I've met quite a few! I've met Motionless In White I think four times now though.
8. What’s your go-to album when you’re feeling sad?
Literally any Brand New album sans Your Favorite Weapon
9. What’s your go-to album when you’re feeling happy?
I don't really have one, I just listen to whatever I'm in the mood for. It just tends to be more upbeat music.
10. What is one music documentary that you love?
The Decline Of Western Civilization series!
11. What is one concert DVD that you love?
Can't think of one tbh. I'm not a fan of watching (or listening) to live versions of things.
12. Do you prefer listening to playlists or albums?
Typically a playlist
13. Do you listen to albums in order or on shuffle?
In order for my first listen. If it's an album that requires it to be chronological I will continue to do so but if it doesn't then I won't. I tend to more often than not though just based solely on the fact you can't shuffle a record lmao.
14. What is your favorite deep cut song by your favorite artist?
Oh, this is hard. I've seen Brand New twice and each time I saw them I was crying when they played Degausser so probably that. Same Logic fuuucks me up though
15. What is your favorite CD/cassette/vinyl you own in terms of its packaging?
I love the packaging for Sgt. Pepper's and then I think the Creatures X: To The Grave is my favorite record in terms of the color.

21 Ways Neil Patrick Harris Is Still a Kid at Heart
Whether he’s escaping a room or his real life, the sitcom star and new quiz-show host loves a game—unless it’s Monopoly

AS PRENATURALLY SMART teen surgeon Doogie Howser, M.D., Neil Patrick Harris occasionally let himself believe he was the “young whippersnapper intellect” he portrayed on TV. He’s under no such delusions as the host of NBC’s “Genius Junior,” a new game show premiering this month that quizzes grade schoolers in categories including math, memory and spelling.
“When I interacted with the kids, I realized that [compared to them] I was really just a puppet reading writers’ lines,” the 44-year-old father of two said. “It doesn’t quite involve the same cerebral cortex.”
Following his 2014 Tony-winning role in Broadway’s “Hedwig and the Angry Inch”; the publishing of his children’s book “The Magic Misfits” last year; and the launching of his Netflix adaptation “A Series of Unfortunate Events,” Mr. Harris said he was inspired to take his turn behind the quiz-show dais by a childhood spent watching “Press Your Luck” and “Sale of the Century.” Another motivator: his love of puzzles and game theory, which recently led him to become an escape-room aficionado.
Though he said he normally takes the time to gauge the dynamic in group situations, Mr. Harris admits that he gets “pretty alpha” if the door is locked and the clock is ticking: “When your singular goal is to escape as quickly as possible, you just talk the loudest and fastest you can.”
Tumblr media
Clockwise from top left: ‘The Goonies’; Oculus Rift VR goggles; ‘Black Mirror’; his childhood computer; Stretch Armstrong.
My current obsession is: a smartphone app called “The Room.” As you swipe around and examine a box, you find a little switch that opens a panel to puzzles that unlock more and more of the box. It is extraordinarily well executed and a brilliant time suck.
My favorite toy as a child was: Stretch Armstrong, but I was really just interested in knowing what the liquid was inside that allowed him to stretch, so those got mutilated. I also had every “Star Wars” figure. When we made little short films, we would burn them because burning plastic is cool to watch.
My favorite toy now is: The Oculus Rift VR machine. I can’t stop. I will someday be one of those fallow, gaunt VR players who never see the light of day.
My favorite escape room is: New York’s Paradiso Escape. It’s fantastic. Incredibly cinematic, there are multiple rooms, and it’s fully realized. And we escaped, which is most important. The bomb did not go off.
The first piece of tech I remember getting is: an old school TRS-80 computer my parents bought. We were living in Tiny Town, New Mexico—not its real name—and I felt like we were very technological and impressive.
I’m serious about collecting: Disney theme-park memorabilia. I outbid some heavy hitters to get an original Haunted Mansion stretching portrait of a bearded man, which we display proudly and enormously in our living room. I paid too much, but I felt it was something that would never come around again.
When you visit Vancouver you should definitely: bike Stanley Park. That’s their big Central Park. It’s just exquisite. Nature here is just miraculous. When it’s not raining in the spring and summer everything is just in full bloom—and it’s beautiful.”
The best place for brunch in New York is: Balthazar. It’s a great scene. Fantastic brunch: waffles and oysters.
A podcast I download to get a bit smarter is: NPR’s “Hidden Brain.” Shankar Vedantam interviews all kinds of people on topics relating to the brain, the psyche and our common concerns and goals. It’s scientific, topical, really motivational.
A game I do not recommend: Monopoly with 7-year-olds. I think it teaches bad habits. The whole conceit of Monopoly is to destroy every other competitor and acquire so much wealth that you’re stomping on and bankrupting people left, right and center. But we’re very into Sorry!
A book that I re-read every year is: “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho. It is filled with life-changing ways of thinking. It’s the only book I’ve read where I had to just stop to think about a sentence I read, take some deep breaths, smile and then keep reading.
The best book for a first grader is:“The World’s Worst Children” by David Walliams. It’s stories about horrible children, similar to the worlds created by Roald Dahl. Hilarious and still palatable for kids.
A kids film that I love is: “The Goonies.” When it came out, I bought all the chewing gum packs of Goonies cards, read and acquired every Goonies thing I could and called myself a “Goonie looney.” I coined that phrase and thought it was very funny at the time.
The last show I binged is: Netflix’s “Black Mirror.” All the episodes are effective, chilling and awesome.
My favorite VR game is: “The Invisible Hours.” It’s a murder mystery, which is right up my alley. You’re able to wander this mansion and follow people to see what they are doing. It’s like immersive theater. It’s rad.
The last piece of technology I bought: If I’m being honest, is a second Oculus Rift system, because I missed it so much in New York, I wanted to play it here in Vancouver [where he’s currently shooting the third season of “A Series of Unfortunate Events”].
As a child I listened to: my parents’ records. The Kingston Trio, the Brothers Four. In high school I listened to Billy Joel and the Beach Boys—which was the first CD I ever bought.
If I weren’t an actor: I’d either be a puppeteer or an Imagineer—someone hired by Disney to sign a nondisclosure form, learn all the secrets of how the theme park rides work and use current and future technologies to design attractions for parks.
My favorite bathroom away from home is at: the NoMad Hotel in Los Angeles. It’s in an old bank and they saved the vault for the bathroom’s entrance downstairs. It’s super cool.
The best advice I ever received was: play a long game and not a short game, especially career-wise. Don’t hope that a singular thing—especially if it becomes a success—will define you. Strive for longevity and appreciate that where there are flows there are also ebbs.
The worst advice I’ve received: Fly out of Newark instead of JFK.
—Edited from an interview by Chris Kornelis

My favourite and only thing I know about Korn is the lead singer was this like super edgelord who used to collect serial killer memorabilia (cringe) but then he had kids and was like "actually this is fucked up" and got rid of it cause he didn't want to expose his kids to that.

#TheFamilyValuesTour 1999 This live document ain’t all bad. Devotees of excruciating noise can revel in [a]Limp Bizkit[/a]’s rifftastic schtick, and thrill to [a]Primus[/a] and the most rubbery bass-slapper in the history of bass-slapping. Adolescents who are that much deeper and neurotic will welcome Staind and their suicidal urges on ‘Mudshovel’, Korn and their near-death experiences on ‘Falling Away From Me’, and, best of all, Filter‘s morbid tribute to Kurt Cobain, ‘Hey Man, Nice Shot’. GRES
Tumblr media
- Cami: Relationship Of Command.
- Girl Band - Pears For Lunch Brutus - Fire Turnstile - Real Thing Birds in Row - You, Me & The Violence Gouge Away - Consider Vi som älskade varandra så mycket - Sioux City Loma Prieta - Worn Path Crash Of Rhinos - Stiltwalker 4 - Qual è il memorabilia musicale a cui non potresti mai rinunciare?
- Cami: Fight Club, scena finale della città che crolla su Where Is My Mind dei Pixies.
- Marci: Migliore visto, Tallest Man On Earth a Londra al Roundhouse. Quello che rimpiango, Crash Of Rhinos. Quello che non perderò, Kate Tempest.
