Ok Episode idea. Sonic goes missing and people get worried. Then he shows up a couple days later destroying the market, but it turns out to just be Morpho and nobody (besides Knuckles) bought his really bad acting. Especially when the real Sonic shows up and kicks his butt. Except that this Sonic is a bit off. He's rude, says mean things about his friends, convinces Sticks that Amy is actually a member of the secret Shadow government and that the tea parties are secret interrogation sessions, sabotages Tail's inventions to explode, tricks Knuckles into trying to dig to the other side of the planet, and disorganized Amy's chatchki collection. They quickly realize that this isn't the real Sonic. Sticks figures it out - He's an evil Sonic from another dimension who has come here to ruin this Sonic's world just for the fun of it! "Or Eggman built a second Morpho." They follow the fake Sonic to his hidden hideout and rescue the real Sonic after trying and failing to fight the evil one. His deception revealed Evil Sonic explains that he is an evil version of Sonic from another universe who vame over here just to have fun messing with people and ruining Sonic's life. Sticks is absolutely smug. Cue big fight and they manage to beat Evil Sonic and kick him back over to his own dimension. "I'm surprised that he wasn't a different color. Like green or something." "Come on, a green hedgehog? That would make zero sense."

this is a cool idea in theory but i'm not sure how i would be able to sidestep the little problem of the entire universe being destroyed if two sonics were to coexist. the implication that a green alternate sonic makes no sense while a green alternate eggman does is funny tho

I mean, the way I see that is that the Emperor’s Coven are basically cops and the other Head Witches are more like government officials, does that make sense? Graye had a squad assigned to him when he came to Hexside so they had to do as he ordered (er, as best they could, given how shitty his directions are). I do think that the head of the Emperor’s Coven would officially outrank the other Head Witches; Graye was able to overrule Hunter’s command because Hunter’s currently a runaway, not because he has a higher rank, I think? And I don’t recall any of the Head Witches successfully disregarding Kiki; Darius told her to F off but she didn’t listen and he doesn’t seem like the type that wouldn’t tell someone who outranked him to go away because she’s annoying.

I do think the EC can be used for the Draining Spell, actually. I imagine their sigil will suck their souls out just like everybody else’s.

Hello again! But yeah, that’s a really nice observation, I like that a lot. I’ve also been wondering if he’s distantly related to the Wittebanes, as he has a little baby forelock and a slightly Hunter-y nose.

The mega bot flood isn't something you did directly. Their current strategy is basically a "daisy chain" effect. They hit a person, then look at that person's list of who they follow and move along to all those blogs. Basically they're more likely to hit more popular blogs that way.

Hi there! Where would you recommend someone to start reading the high republic books/comics? Do you have any favorite characters or sotries from them?

Hi! I have found that chronological release order is almost always a good idea for any Star Wars media, because even if the in universe stories are out of order, the audience is very often meant to be familiar with the previous releases. Like, watching the OT before the PT is the best way to view the story because you're supposed to know how the OT goes, that way you get the references and homages and there aren't major spoilers for things you're meant to experience the first time in the OT/other media. It's the same with the the High Republic, you're meant to start with Light of the Jedi and the story unfolds chronologically from there. I mean, sure, in theory, you could start at any point, they explain what you need to know from context, but starting with Light of the Jedi sets the stage, introduces you to the characters and the world, and is still my favorite of all the High Republic stuff I've read to date! So my reading order list would be: - Light of the Jedi by Charles Soule - A Test of Courage by Justina Ireland - Into the Dark by Claudia Gray - The High Republic comic by Cavan Scott - The High Republic Adventures comic by Daniel Jose Older - The Monster of Temple Peak comic miniseries by Cavan Scott - The Rising Storm by Cavan Scott - Race to Crashpoint Tower by Daniel Jose Older - Out of the Shadows by Justina Ireland - Tempest Runner audiodrama by Cavan Scott - The Fallen Star by Claudia Gray - Midnight Horizon by Daniel Jose Older You can mix and match the comics especially, as they were coming out concurrently with the novels, so read like five issues of one, switch over to a book, or just do whatever feels natural along the way. This list is missing a few short stories or picture books, but honestly unless you're a 100% perfectionist, they can be skipped or read later, the above are the main thrust of the High Republic storyline. I'm about halfway through the above list and I think Light of the Jedi and The Rising Storm are probably the best of the whole thing for me so far, I enjoy the focus on the older characters like Avar Kriss, Stellan Gios, and Elzar Mann, so the books that give them the most screen time tend to be my favorites, but I also enjoy the main comic because Keeve Trennis is lovely in it. So, those would be my recommendations and starting places!

There is... a lot to process about that episode of Casualty. So while I organise my thoughts, I’ll start with this:

It looks like I was right about Max Cristie’s backstory! About halfway through his very first episode, I thought “he’s definitely gonna have a backstory where he either lost a kid, suffered childhood trauma, or both and that’s why he cares so much about children now”. And tonight seemingly confirmed at least the childhood trauma part. What the trauma exactly was still isn’t totally clear (a Holbyverse character hasn’t been this vague and incomprehensible about their backstory since John Gaskell), but from the stuff he said regarding the patient Ivy and how he “knows what it’s like”, it sounds like we can assume, at minimum, that he was a victim of child neglect and went down a dark path (possibly involving a gang or something??) trying to cope with it. Interesting.

Nigel Harman did say, if I’m remembering right, that someone from Max’s past will show up and provide insights into his character. So I’m assuming that’s where his backstory will be further explored - I imagine this is all we’re getting for now. (I’m not actually even all that interested in this character, funnily enough. I’m just fascinated to see where they go with his backstory, because they’re definitely setting up a tragic past for him.)

One thing I do know is that he is continuing to give me strong Greg Douglas vibes. Remember when Greg gave that teenaged patient his phone number so she could speak to him?? Yeah.

As for the Ivy storyline itself... eh, I struggled to focus or get invested due to Faith’s involvement. Why are they keeping that woman on this show?!?!?! Everything she’s done is just... beyond redemption. There’s no salvaging that awful abusive monster. Casualty producers, if you’re reading this, please write Faith out.

Her being outraged at Max for shouting at Ivy was especially ridiculous. Yeah, Max shouldn’t have shouted, but Faith has absolutely no right to get mad at someone for shouting at a teenager. Just a few months back, she literally physically assaulted Natalia’s boyfriend Tristan. Max shouting is nothing in comparison.

Speaking of which, I really, really despise how they seem to be setting up a Faith/Max/Dylan love triangle. Revisiting Faith/Dylan would be bad enough - pairing Dylan, an abuse survivor, with an abuser would be absolutely disgusting. (They could pull it off if they actually turned it into a deliberate abuse story and made it a story about revictimisation. But I don’t think they’d do that, because that would require acknowledging Faith is abusive.) But throwing a pointless love triangle in, where Faith’s other potential victim is also (from the sounds of it) an abuse survivor - yikes. And that’s not even getting into her future relationship with Iain... who wants to bet they’ll break up the moment she finds out about his depression? Faith does, after all, hate it when her men aren’t perfect and dare to be mentally ill and traumatised. ://

The Rash and Ashok storyline is still incredibly sad. I don’t have much to say because they didn’t have that many scenes in this episode, but it really is heartbreaking. And from the looks of the spoilers, it’s only gonna get sadder. :( Neet Mohan and Kriss Dosanjh are still as brilliant as ever.

The Stevie and Marcus storyline is... a lot. I really don’t know how to feel about any of this so I’ll just say, Elinor Lawless absolutely smashed it. What a wonderful actress - Casualty are very, very lucky to have her. Adam Sina has been great as Marcus too, although it’s harder to compliment his acting precisely because of the thing that makes it worthy of compliments: Marcus has been getting more and more repulsive to watch.

But I am kind of disappointed that they gave Eloise, Marcus’ previous victim, BPD - giving me hope for a properly represented BPD character in the Holbyverse, even if one who was just a guest role - and then... killed her off. Like, did they have to give her BPD for the story to work? I feel like it could’ve worked just as well if they’d said she had depression or something. Idk. I’m just tired. I guess I should be glad it wasn’t “BPD makes you evil” like John Gaskell (who was a textbook case of BPD, whether Holby intended him as such or not). But the only Holbyverse character I can think of with even potential BPD who survived their storyline (Jac fits a lot of traits too, but like John and Eloise, she didn’t survive) was Chloe Godard, and they retconned all her traits away! (And her mental health struggles in general, but I especially noticed them retconning the BPD traits away. And yes, I am still on the “Chloe has BPD” train after all these years.) Sorry for the rant. I just want some good BPD representation for once. :(

The Jacob and Stevie scenes were absolutely fantastic. I’m so glad the show tied Jacob’s own experiences of domestic abuse into Stevie’s storyline. Charles Venn was brilliant, too. I hope Jacob gets to be an ongoing support to Stevie throughout the aftermath of the Marcus storyline. They’d better not just isolate her into only interacting with Faith again.

Marcus is a monster. I mean, what more can I say about him? Everything he’s done to Stevie in the past and everything he did tonight... he’s just so awful. I despise him with all my heart. He feels like a very realistic abuser, so kudos to Casualty for that.

I’m also glad they made the choice to avoid going down the usual cliche route of Marcus physically hurting Stevie and that being his point-of-no-redemption. I feel like these storylines always spiral into something like that. And I’m not saying that’s not worth depicting, but it’s nice that they let the coercive control/emotional abuse stand on its own, without feeling the need to add physical abuse to make Marcus a “proper” abuser.

I could see some of Stevie’s actions while seeking evidence and revenge being called “unrealistic”, and that would probably be a reasonable argument, but personally I’m fine with it - it doesn’t cross the line into sensationalism for me, as it feels perfectly in character for Stevie (if it were anyone else, that would be another story).

Anyway, I hope Marcus suffers for his actions, or dies, or both. I don’t really know what else to say. May Stevie succeed in her revenge plan! I fully support her. <3

So, for Spare the storylines had different impacts. Arven got her to like humans more because of his willingness to take on great risks to help his pokemon heal. That and he started to help her understand cooking and food more as he came to understand that her reluctance to eat stuff is a result of fear and uncertainty. With Penny and Team Star, she learned not to judge a book by its cover, and since she wasn't dealing with any sort of actual evil team, no serious violence happened. She also empathized with Penny's desire to stop the bullies and oppose injustice, but the idea of unintentional consequences...also like Penny Spare isn't good with people, so they vibe on that. Nemona... was there. She was powerful and skilled and was a good fight...but ultimately it didn't matter, Spare was already a champion by that point and fulfilling one of her primary purposes.

Then we get to the whole robot professor who has highly limited free will and has to follow plans of its creator, even if it came to disagree with them and considered it a catastrophe. Even though it wanted to stop the time machine, it couldn't, and even though it asked Spare to stop it, the robot also acknowledged that it would be forced to try and stop her. This was the big existential crisis because it got Spare to question how much free will she actually has, or if she has her own "Paradise Protection Protocol" that could be switched on. She confessed her status as artificial and her fears about what that could mean to Penny as, out of all of her friends, she was the one Spare considered the best at working out the logic of it and how to test this sort of stuff. After a small freak out, Penny agrees to help Spare figure out just how human she really is (the answer is 100%, they just didn't know it yet).

the hard part is figuring out how to test for humanity -- is it genetic? behavioral? are they just trying to see if Spare can go directly against what Arceus wants? they're going to have a hard time figuring that all out at first 😔

though frankly there's nothing quite as human as going through an emo phase when you're 12-13. Middle school years are sufferingggggg

Oh my god this fucking gremlin- Alright, yeah, Becky is just like that. She thinks she is above people, not because she`s rich or powerful, but just because she refuses to be part of her age group. She wants to be mature, responsible, but she`s just a kid, she doesn`t know how much she`s missing out.

Martha cares a lot about her, and she really tried to make her understand that she doesn`t know everything, hell even adults don`t know everything, and that is important in maturing, understanding that there is always room to grow and improve yourself. Growing up is a journey without a finish line.

Yeah, I like that idea. I initially thought he was spurred to rebellion by Kiki cocooning Raine, but then he said in canon he was already suspicious, lol. Also him saying he thought he was the only one, when Eberwolf was right there for that fight, really cracks me up. I enjoy the thought that all three of them thought they were the only suspicious one.

I mean. The Collector has some spooky-ass influence on King now, hm. He could probably puppet him if he tried real hard. 🙃

Man, the whispers from the In Between Realm irrationally get on my nerves, mostly because even listening to them carefully separated out in YouTube videos I can’t really make out words. I’m having some kind of auditory processing Thing with them. There’s definitely what sounds kinda like Noceda a couple times? According to some people trying to transcribe in the comments, the voice also says “join us” and “stay here”, which would definitely fit with the Collector’s lonely trapped thing. idk I just feel like I can’t really answer “what do you think about what the voice is saying???” when I have no goddamn idea what the voice is saying. Sorry I’m not more fun on that one.

Yeah lol I remembered that she and Katya had met like 5 minutes after I made that post whoops. And thanks, and congratulations to yours as well!! Isn’t it neat? I’m just gobsmacked by the stuff she does.
