Heya my precious bunbun, how about some fluffy 3rd year Shouyou. Let's see.. he and reader have been kinda crushing on each other, with a lot of blushing and cute unintended-flirtyness and after he has been away at camp he comes back 10 cm taller and finally, maybe accidentally, confesses? Maybe something like, of course he'd only been waiting to see her, because he couldn't stop thinking about her all summer, stumbling over his own words with lots of kyaahhhh and gwaaaah, you know?

this was so cute to write, and just what I needed !!! Writing Hinata being soft it’s one of my favorite things in this world!! I hope you like it! Thanks for requesting my second baby!!!

Hinata was beyond nervous.

It had been busy summer for him. He had been invited amongst others to a kind of exclusive summer camp, and he had taken the opportunity without a second thought. He would be spending the whole summer break playing volleyball, sharping his abilities, and meeting new people with their own style and talent. It was all he could wish for—forty days of volleyball. There was one downside, however. And that was he would spend the whole summer without seeing ______.

His crush on ______ was known by his whole team, including Yachi, who had done and incredible job of bringing ______ whenever she could in order to give Hinata more time with her. He had made the big step of texting her constantly without an excuse. Usually, he held on onto everything to talk to her, but he being away for the summer left him with no excuse to talk to her without being plain obvious. He had pushed his nerves to a side, and texted her out of the blue. They had texted the whole time, each message of her caused him a fluttering sensation in his chest. He had gotten teased by everyone at camp. It had been impossible for him to hide his smile or his flushed cheeks when he saw a new message from ______.

Now it was different. After more than a month without seeing each other, he was finally going to see her face to face. It was the first day of school after the summer break, and he had discovered ______ was placed in another class. He had kept an attentive eye to the door, but she never walked into the classroom, and soon all seats were taken. He had been disappointed at first, but then he was nervous all over again. He had spent his day being restless. His leg bounced and he tapped his notebook with his pencil so constantly, the classmate sitting directly in front of him had glared at him over his shoulder after lunch break, clearly fed up with the sound. He had smiled apologetic to him, and tried to control himself. He hadn’t been able to have a look at ______, and the wait wasn’t helping to calm him down. He was just getting worse.

As the first day of school came to an end, Hinata made sure to leave the classroom first, standing on the hallway eager to caught ______. He turned just in time to catch her leaving her classroom. His lungs were twisted out of air at the same time his heart launched itself against his ribcage. His hand moved with its own will and waved at _____. Her eyes found him immediately, and he fell harder for her when she shyly smiled at him, quickening her pace. “Hey,” was all he managed to say once she was in front of him.

“Oh my god,” she said in a thin breath. “You’re taller,” she mentioned.

“Ah, you think?”

“I’m sure,” she insisted, getting on her tip toes and using her hand to calculate how much. “I would say good 10 centimeters, actually.”

Hinata chuckled, a hand moving to the back of his neck as he tried to swallow his bashfulness. ______ had gotten too close to him. “Now that you mentioned it, maybe I did.”

The hallway was constantly getting emptier, but neither of them was noticing the flow of people around them. In that moment, both were so caught up in each other, their surroundings were nonexistent. “How was the training camp?”

“Oh, it was amazing! I think my spike got much better. You’ll see it on our next match. I’m much sharper,” he explained with excitement, motioning a spike as he talked.

“I’m happy to hear the camp was great,” ______ expressed with mirth. To her eyes, the way Hinata explained things was very amusing, using his whole body to convey the whole experience. Hinata beamed at her joyful expression. “Must have been hard to leave the camp,” she continued.

“It is because I always make new friends, but I’m happy to be back home. I couldn’t stop thinking about you, and I just wanted to be back.” Hinata caught what he had said two seconds too late. He had been so hypnotized by her joyful face, he had spoken his mind without any filter. ______ emitted a small gasped at his words, and it was then when his face became an intense shade of pink, and before his own two shocked eyes, ______ was blushing with the same intensity as her eyes stood opened wide. He went into cardiac arrest. “I-I mean, well, we were t-talking so, so, so, so much, so I was thinking about you a lot. I mean! About answering to your text! I got busy quickly, s-so you know, it was so I wouldn’t forget to answer you, t-that’s why,” Hinata rambled with his hands flying everywhere. He couldn’t believe what he had done. ______ was still looking at him with her face just as red as a minute ago. He was mortified. “I’m sorry, ______. It slipped my mind, I don’t know-” he was caught short by ______, who had raised her hands at him. Her cheeks were still dusted with a soft pink but the tender expression in her eyes gave Hinata a spark of hope.

“It was the same for me,” she simply said in the tiniest of voices. The color of her face reignited, and she had to look at the floor.

“Same for you…?” Hinata asked absolutely dumbfounded.

She nodded. Her eyes drifted to the window on their side. “I-I couldn’t stop thinking about you either.”

They had been left alone in the hallway at one point, but they had barely notice as the silent set between them. It wasn’t no one had anything to say, but they were taken in what had just happened. The two had imagined that moment more than once—having the other reciprocating the feelings they had tried to hide so badly, and yet failed since the feelings they had for the other wasn’t a secret to anyone. Between them, ______ seemed to be the bravest, because she was the one who spoke again. “I do like you, Hinata. For a lil’ while now.”

His mind—which had stayed frozen—reacted to the confession. He had practically confessed first, but it hadn’t been as direct as what _____ had said. His whole body relaxed at once, and the bright smile so characteristic of him was back on his face. “You like me?” She nodded, still unavailable to lift her chin and face him. Hinata took a couple steps closer to her, and softly grabbed her by the side of her arms. He gave them a squeeze, and ______ dare to raise her head. What she found was what could only be described as pure gleefulness. “I-I like you, too.” Finally saying those words felt like taking a big weight off of his shoulders.

______ chuckled, a tad more confident. “Now what?” The two chuckled together. The tension was decreasing now that their feelings were revealed to be mutual, giving them space to breath and actually enjoy the moment. The hallways of the school had never felt so romantic.

Hinata slid off his hands from her shoulder, sending a brief shiver down her back. “I, uhm, I think that maybe we could go out. This weekend if you’re free.”

“I’m free.”

“I guess, it’s a date, right?”

Her hands flew to her back. They were holding each other, clutching hard to hide her own excitement. Her own heart was beating as fast as Hinata’s. “It is.” They stared at each other, once again lost for what to say or what to do. The truth was there was a lot they wanted to do, but it was new territory for the two of them. “We should leave, too,” she suggested.”

“Ah, yeah,” Hinata agreed, realizing it was starting to get late for the two of them. They began to walk down the first set of stairs, and Hinata stopped at the middle. ______ stopped, too, turning to see if there was something wrong. Hinata was thinking about everything, and he had realized something. Why wait? He had waited for so long to have his feelings known. “Actually, do you want to go out right now?”

“Right now?” she asked surprised.

“Volleyball training don’t start till tomorrow. We can go right now.”

Her face changed into a lighthearted grin. “Yes, let’s go.”

He chuckled again, and jumped down the stairs two by two till he was standing next to her again. They gave each other one last glance before they kept going down. Hinata proceeded to ask about her summer, and as she calmly explained what she had done in that month they hadn’t seen each other, their pinky fingers graze as their hands swung. They left the school grounds behind, and their fingers finally intertwined. Neither said anything, instead they kept the casual conversation flowing ignoring the two of them were blushing all over again.
