the idea of the winter kings world being a betty/marcy wish is cool and all but like it could be a koo (king of ooo) or even lemongrab wish too.
ok ok hear me out i know it sounds crazy but i have good points i swear. so maybe one of them wishes for bonnie to be more unfit to rule a proper kingdom so it makes the candy queen plus the add on of winter king taking her capability / sanity to rule a proper kingdom. "oh but she does still have citizens living there." yes but it isnt proper. but unfortunate for them she still stays in power of her really bad candy kingdom. as for their absence in the show they are either A: planning her downfall or B: it seems as though in og at show they are both relatively new candy folk made by bonnie ( yes possibly even koo you see him melt like candy in the stakes miniseries) that could be under 100 years old so when they made their wish , they ended up never being made
or ik could have wish for pb to like him and cq plus wk was made lol
also idk nutin bout ice marceline so uuuhhh you figure that out yourselfs

Adventure Time/Lemongrab-Princess Bubblegum Theory
Lemongrab was created to be everything Princess Bubblegum loved, believed in, wanted, preferred, feared, hated about herself and saw the world as. To be everything she was and still is.
The problem arose after he was "born" when PB found that he just wasn't those things—in the exact way she had desired him to be. This caused her great disappointment and led to her associating LG with disappointment and, on some level, insult to her person. She very likely sees/saw herself in LG, no matter how warped he gets/got, because of her reasons for creating him. He literally IS her. Just male and more extreme/dramatic. Like a living symbol of her pain, made real, and a constant reminder of what could have been.
Even his sourness could be seen as being somewhat based on who she is/her essence. Sure, she's closer to what we would consider regular, everyday candy than him; but let's compare her to the other candy people. Bubblegum in general is less sugary than other forms of candy and is more unstable and unpredictable, too. (Ever gotten gum stuck to your shoe?) She's not sour, but she's not very sweet either. Or edible, if we're being honest. (Even lemons/lemon candy are typically okay to eat.) This, along with her general personality, worldview and disposition, puts a large amount of separation between her—along with LG—and the candy people.
This also leads me to believe that this is why PB seems, on some level, stuck on/attached to LG. Despite everything. It's due to sensing those sorta-intentional similarities and wanting to preserve their existence. Maybe she's always thinking about what could potentially be, or she just refuses to let go of and forget about the happy memories and fantasies related/connected to that which will likely never change.
It should also be noted that the show doesn't shy away from the belief that what you are will definitely affect who you become. All candy people are on some level sweet and that sweetness partly or fully dictates how they think and act. This helps to explain why LG is always so disgruntled and in pain. He's candy and he knows it. He was made by the Queen/Goddess of Candy herself to be an heir or friend/family member of some sort. Yet, he often feels out of place and like a mistake due to that sourness, and how different it is from the other candy people's sweetness. Perhaps PB should have made and integrated more sour candy before or after LG was created, to make the kingdom more bitter-friendly and inclusive?
Anyway, that's my thoughts on that. Princess Bubblegum made Lemongrab to be like herself in many if not all regards. He just didn't turn out to be the right amount of "like herself" that she'd hoped for or would/could tolerate. That is, he was arguably too much like herself, as opposed to not enough.

I’ve had SO many ideas for AT character redesigns gonna post a lil abt them under the cut:
Pb- so full disclosure this is based on the shape shifters from star trek deep space nine. Basically, Pb came from the mother gum, which is a glooby sugary liquid creature, but she’s a humanoid for the most part. So I think it would be cool if Pb is also originally a gloopy gum creature but she started taking a humanoid form as a child to copy other survivors of the nuclear fallout, and continues to take that form. But when she loses concentration she starts to melt and drip all over the place and loses her shape, she does this when she falls asleep too. She wakes up in the morning and decides whether she’s gonna shapeshift a skeleton for herself that day.
Also I think it would be neat if she had some of the same features as Lemongrab to show that they are mother and child. So she, like Lemongrab, has slitted pupils like a reptile and has sharp teeth (though hers are candy cane patterned) and due to her malleable form she can, like Lemongrab, unhinge her jaw if she wants and turn her head 180 degrees, but she avoids doing this bc it freaks people out.
Plus the reptilian features makes sense to me from a biology pov. Candy people are made of candy so to stop themselves from melting in the sun they’d have to be cold blooded and have endothermic reactions happening in their bodies to stay cool, so she’s cold and kinda slimy to the touch.
Lemongrab -
General thoughts: so I think Lemongrab should be warm blooded unlike the rest of the candy kingdom. It’s established in the comics that pb made him by decreasing the sugar levels in candy, and I like the idea of him having plant like properties alongside being made of candy, so he’s resistant to high temperatures so he doesn;t need to keep cool. Skeleton wise Lemongrab has some bone structure like limb bones, a spine hip and ribcage but he has no skull. His head is a thick lemon rind exoskeleton. Bc of this his eye sockets work differently, as there’s no skull to hold the eyeballs in place. He has transparent eyelids like a desert snake that are fused directly to his eyeballs, which are fixed to his skin. So he can move his pupils around but they slide around under a film. After many many years his eyelids begin to gather scratches so Pb has to make new ones and surgically replace them, part of the reason he has such terrible reading comprehension is that she neglects doing this. So none of the Lemongrab’s blink or close their eyes to sleep. He just... stares. Probably wears an eye mask to sleep.
His skin is an exoskeleton that has different properties from his body, so around his joints it’s very soft, so he can bend his elbows and legs, but he has reduced mobility in his shoulders and can’t bend his arms backwards, though he can raise them up going forwards. The base of his neck is also a band of softer skin so he can rotate his head around. Most of his body has reduced sensitivity due to the exoskeleton, so his sensations of temperature and touch are reduced, but these softer areas are really sensitive so he likes having his neck rubbed. Also his finger joints and wrists are very sensitive so he squeezes his hands a lot as a self soothing thing.
Plant wise Lemongrab does photosynthesise, which is why lg1 and 2 were able to go so long without food in All your fault, but it’s not enough to sustain himself, he does still need to eat. (more on diet later) He does grow hair in the form of leaves and occasionally flowers that grow from his nub and on his arms/legs, but he prefers being bald bc it’s too much hassle and he doesn’t like the sensory feeling. Lemongrab is sensitive to plant diseases affecting lemon trees so he has to be VERY careful around fruit markets and around his own trees. But I imagine the symptoms of diseases affect him differently, so he ends up running a fever and vomiting alongside discolouration. Lemon trees also need to absorb a lot of water as well as various metals, so alongside eating candy Lemongrab has to hydrate a lot and swallow metal supplement tablets pb gives him (he hates this so he oftens skips it and then wonders why he’s so tired/annoyed all the time. take your vitamins weirdo.)
Diet wise Lemongrab works kind of... like a pet if that makes sense? like pets can have a lil bit of human food but too much will be bad for them, and they should mostly stick to pet food? Lemongrab is the same in that he can eat a little bit of regular food but it’s harder for him to digest, so he should mainly eat lemon candy. Lemongrab can have a lil salami.
Candy people have amazing regenerative properties, and so long as they consume enough candy they can grown back entire body parts and organs (which is why Lemongrab 1 deprived Lemongrab 2 of food after biting off their eye and legs). Irt cannibalism Lemongrab has multiple stomachs like a cow, so Lemongrab 2 wasn’t digested because they got stuck in the first, least acidic stomach.
Lg1- so. Lg1 was the first lemon person ever made and getting him to work fully was a trial and error thing, so there’s tons of fading scars on his stomach from when Pb had to do surgeries on him to get his organs to work when the sweet and sour in him would react badly before she got the balance right. Most of his life Lemongrab had a lot of internal pain bc of this which is part of the reason why he was screaming when first created - he had literally just been born with no frame of reference for anything, and was in intense agony!
On the subject of the sweet and sour thing, in the comics there’s a storyline about Lemongrab being the only one immune to a candy mind control monster thing bc of his lemon juice, and his physiology has an acidic effect on the creature. And thinking about this deeper if Lemongrab’s physiology is directly opposed to candy and can cause pain, then wouldn’t it be so sad if he couldn’t touch Pb’s bare skin without burning her? He’d be so sad :(
Already talked about his shitty eyesight. Bumps into things constantly.
I like the idea of Lemongrab being able to flick his jaw out like a baby damselfly. Also he has multiple rows of teeth like a shark.
Lemongrab 2 - Lg2 was made in a rush in a pantry so they’re not identical to their sibling. One of their eyes is lower than the other and their features are just. Ever so slightly off kilter. Lemongrab 1 finds them a bit disturbing to look at because of uncanny valley- they’re something trying to mimic him perfectly but they can’t quite get it right.
They’re also shorter than their brother! And they have irregular limb lengths, so they have to wear a thicker sole in one shoe to correct their height and stop themselves limping everywhere. Their fingers are different lengths to each other so their hands are asymmetrical. And they don’t have a second row of teeth, and are actually missing several teeth. They also don’t have any claws and can’t flick their jaw out or rotate their head 180 degrees. And their skin gets irritated easily so they have a lot of acne and easily develop rashes.
Lemongrab 1 isolated them from others as an abuse tactic so their skin is paler due to being bleached from a lack of sunlight. They have really good eyesight though.
Lemongrab 3 - He’s a reanimated corpse and it shows. I like giving him really noticeable red stitches (he paints over them w yellow makeup a lot though) but it’s not enough. He has a mixture of their teeth so he has part of a second row of teeth, but not a full set, and has some gaps. He has one eye from each predessecor so he has to wear a monocle. Like Lg2 he has to wear mismatched shoes and has irregular arm lengths.
He also has a lot of stretchmarks on his body from Lg1′s bodyparts.
Organ-wise he only has one stomach so he’s on a very restricted and controlled diet, which is why he only eats lemon candy and drinks water or lemonade. He really misses being able to eat other food.
His head exoskeleton was cracked and broken so it no longer works properly, and Pb eventually gave him a skull because he kept having headaches.
A lot of his skeleton was rebuilt and like lg1, it was a trial and error process to get him to work again. He can still do the jaw thing.
LSP - I think not enough fan content leans into LSP being an alien from another dimension. She has black eyes that are like a bug’s, and she has multiple hearts and circulatory systems. She has one for regular liquid blood and two that pump gases around her body that have similar properties to helium and allow her to fly. She can stop herself from flying (biologically stuff gets released into the bloodstream that neutralises the gas, but it happens automatically and really quickly). LSP can lose a lot of liquid blood and be okay but if the gas veins get hurt she’s in a lot of trouble - due to being a gas it’ll seep out of her body really quickly and her body doesn’t generate enough of it to replenish it without hospital equipment. For this reason her skin is really tough and rubbery, and she has no bones or fixed shape so it’s incredibly difficult for her to cut herself. Like she was unharmed in the scene where she gets mauled by wolves, as her body just moulded itself to the bite marks.
But stuff like needles and small blades, or tiny sharp points, can cut her.
Also she can see shrimp colours I just think it would be funny. She has wizard eyes but doesn’t make a big deal of it.
LSP has some minor shapeshifting properties as she and Jake’s species share a common evolutionary ancestor. She knew that Jake was an alien like... immediately but either a) thought “that’s his business” and said nothing, or b) assumed everyone already knew and decided to keep quiet about how she probably should have said something earlier when it turned that no one else knew this actually.

i'm losing my mind how are there STILL ACTIVE CATRA HATE BLOGS it's been FOUR YEARS how are you still this mad about a female abuse victim!!!!!! how do you STILL not get it!!!!!!!!!!
I have been in enough fandoms to understand that some of the people who stick around the longest are those who act the most scarred after watching the media. It's like stockholme syndrome. Or it's like hating the thing is what gives them drive in the world.
I have also been on the other side of this. I remained a Homestuck blog for a whole four years after the ending made me depressed about Terezi Pyrope, even lasting an additional year and a half after the dogshit epilogues released, through to the demise of Hiveswap and Homestuck^2, before I realised enough was enough and let Adventure Time give me sanctuary again.
But Homestuck had its Gamzee fans who hated the comic and fandom, Adventure Time had its Lemongrab fans who hated the show and fandom, and it seems She-ra has its fair share of antis.
The She-ra antis consist of the following groups, from my observation:
Former fans who got obsessed with some other show and have to bash She-ra because it ain't cool anymore. Usually Owl House fans but can be from anywhere. Their hate is universally connected to propping something else up, and is never done in isolation.
Hordak fans who hate Catra and maybe every other character and crew member and the show. There are a lot of the reverse, Catra fans who hate Hordak, which is part of why this group is so persistent, as a "counter" to this Hordak hate. However, the Catra fans who are Hordak antis MOSTLY do not hate the show (they are just... out of touch with it and generally have bad takes). I've seen one or two extreme cases of Catra apologists accusing Adora, Scorpia, and even Entrapta of abuse, but they were completely alone in their feelings. The Hordak fans who hate Catra tend to also hate Glimmer, Mermista, Adora, Bow, and say that the show is ableist or whatever, but they do not actually harbor much love for Entrapta. Her victimisation is an excuse for their behaviour and they have no understanding of her chaotic character. Do not interact.
Glimmadora fans (the ones who purely seem to exist to make 'Spop Is Abusive' posts). Why the fuck Glimmadora fans hate the show so much, I do not understand. But these are probably the most In-Your-Face of these three groups. While the Hordak fans mentioned above have a lot of similarity to Homestuck Gamzee fans or Adventure Time Lemongrab fans in the weird way they'll hate on the show for doing their blorbo wrong, Glimmadora fans don't have that evidence because they don't really care about Glimmer or Adora. They have absolutely nothing to say about the show, other than that it is Bad. My theory on these Glimmadora fans is that they really liked the Glimmer and Adora ship on a superficial level, and then the show decided to have its Deeper Themes and give Catra and Adora a messy, complicated relationship. There was a lot happening after season 3 where people went "CATRADORA IS REALLY ABUSIVE AND CATRA IS HORRIBLE AND YOU SHOULDNT SHIP HER WITH ANYONE". This period was SO fucking harmful to the fandom that it never recovered, so much work was lost and deleted from AO3. People would say "Glimmadora is a much better ship anyway". But then when season 4 rolled around and, uhh, Glimmer was acting like a little shit all season (for good reason but she really fucked things up with Adora), and Glimmadora crumbled into ash? Well the Glimmadora truthists felt like the show was working against them and that Season 5 was a grand conspiracy to make the Abusive ship Catradora canon!!! The funniest part of this is I sympathise a lot with these feelings. I used to be a Glimmadora truther myself when I watched the show in fall 2021. I was like, "wow, look how nice this ship is. And they go with catradora in the end?? Fucking HOW???". But then seasons 4 and 5 happened and.... yeah, I was disappointed with how Glimmer and Adora's friendship ended up, but I was ENAMORED by the messiness of Catra's character and how raw her and Adora felt about each other even in spite of all the bullshit. I never made excuses about the show being abuse apologising. I analysed it purely in how believable the relationships were and what the intentions of the characters are.
Of these groups, the ones responsible for the most actual SPOP Anti blogs are undoubtedly the Glimmadoras. The only time I've seen something similar, so many antis appearing, was because of Steven Universe ship wars. You have NO IDEA how petty people feel about Lapidot, Amedot, all the dots, all the amethysts. A crew member was chased off the internet over it, or left the internet over the show's own decisions, depending on whether you believe the """screenshots""" that were taken of Zuke's ""private blog""".

Ok watched the new episodes, my quick thoughts: (spoiler)
I thought cake dropped the f bomb when she said “puck him up!” In the first few minutes. Sort of disappointed she didn’t tho, that’d be really funny
Episode one overall was really cute! Gave me big bee and puppy cat vibes
I like the relationship Fiona has with both Gary and Marshal. ALSO PEPPERMINT BUTLER WAS SUCH A JUMPSCARE IDK WHY
Also surprising: Hunter?? (Genderswapped human huntress wizard). It’s a different design than the one we see in the trailers! I’m not sure how to think of it yet but I could immediately sense the sort of pairing they are going for obviously with Fiona.
Lsp was lsp
Also the human lemongrabs haha
Intro theme was a banger??? Especially episode 2
Ok episode two: essentially a Simon torture porn episode like oh my god I am not kidding
He’s such a looser (sad)
Like give my man a break
I bet you could easily make a 20 minute compilation of every time Simon gets whacked in the head or punched or something, by the end of the series.
Also Simon and Marcy flashback. Gonna throw up now my heart won’t take it
He is going insane. Like his girl how cute 💕💕💕💕
Betty shrine
Choose goose but EVIL!! yes! This was hinted at in the “wizard city” episode of distant lands, and now he is back but filled with dark magic I guess.
Nothing happens with that little Fiona fangirl
FINN!!! He is very big but thr same the whole time, I am happy to see him back
Jake is dead :’(
Finn hangs out with TV now, interesting. TV even has a little tamagotchi
This episode REALLY earned the tv-14 rating. Lots of blood, but satisfying in a way. A beat up monster actually has visible injuries!!
Well also Simon his arm gets jacked up. Because it’s mandatory I guess
I have no idea what’s gonna happen to finns weird scratch, maybe nothing
Finn makes like at least two jokes about his balls and it’s so good. He’d totally be the person to think balls are funny
Huntress wizard is also mentioned in this episode too!! Not any appearances though. Finn does say he regularly meets with her though, and at the end of the episode even goes to “hang out” with her
Rebecca sugar song!!! I think!!!
OH YEAH WE GOT A BIT OF BUBBALINEEE. Nothing too important, just them having a goofy time and being happy :3
next: Simon summons god /j
Well, he does something to connect with golb, or at least his intentions. But choose goose messes up the chant by saying something about Fiona and cake.
Ok so THEORY: this summoning/portal ritual caused a portal to appear from Simon to Fiona’s world, like the chant eventually said. The portal itself (in Fiona’s universe) was specifically tied to ice, since that’s a point of simons identity. Well, the portal cake wen through was right near human ice queen, so I thought it was because ice queen was the Simon of Fiona’s universe. But cake doesn’t enter her, but just the ice in her ice cream cart. Hmmm,,,, not sure.
Ok I think that’s it for now!!

"Princess Bubblegum was pure evil, as bad as the likes of Darth Vader or Orochimaru, who deliberately created all the Candy People to be dependent on her and orchestrated all the other kingdoms of Ooo to suit her whims and constantly manipulates everyone around her"
There is a LOT to unpack here. There are SO MANY assumptions and bad faith interpretations that do not line up either with the explicit text of the series or the details of PB's characterization OR her character arc. I could start with how PB didn't create the other kingdoms of Ooo or manipulate them, she didn't create the candy people or lemongrab to be the way they are (and in fact explicitly rejects the idea of 'fixing them', insisting that the Lemongrabs are fine the way they are and states on other ocassions that you have to accept people are the way they are in a way that feels like a rejection of the idea that neurodivergent people are Wrong) and also that PB might be willing to play the political game but she's not THAT manipulative and of course how she openly doesn't like being ruler but feels responsibiltiy to what she's created to do whatever she can for them
but also frankly you were never going to bother using your brain on this one and you're just taking superficial elements to come to incorrect conclusions to support your theory that PB was always bad despite the series taking a focus on moral ambiguity. I am willing all my psychic energy to bite you forever across the internet, BITE ATTACK BITE ATTACK BITE ATTACK

Too Young Review
“Too Young” finally follows up on the newly deaged Princess Bubblegum, something fans were dying to see after no glimpses of her in the past four episodes. This would have been a more thematically appropriate season premiere, but I do like the building anticipation for the followup. The question of how this new dynamic would alter the status quo of the series going forward hung over our heads. Turns out: not at all. At least not in an obvious way.
Even putting aside the romance aspect, it’s just great to see Finn finally hanging out with someone his own age, something we never get enough of. He’s always hanging out with his older brother, and his other best friends are hundreds of years older than him. As Finn says at the beginning, he can just be himself. I like Finn stepping out to get moral support from Jake. His encouragement of Finn’s pursuit of Bubblegum is finally appropriate! Finn is a little nervous, this is probably his first ever date. But, he is overall pretty comfortable, as there’s still a strong familiarity between Finn and PB. There’s also no pussyfooting around between the two, they are very upfront with their feelings. PB already knows how Finn feels, and she basically tells Finn that he’s hot after he drinks her serum. He admits to not bathing, so it’s a good thing that BMO gets Finn on a bathing schedule by “Holly Jolly Secrets Part 1.” It’s interesting that Finn first asks if she’s trying to make herself 18 again. Part of him thinks this is all too good to be true.
Not really sure how much I need to introduce him, but Lemongrab! He’s probably the tenth most prominent character in the series, and one of the most well known characters, period. He wasn’t given much of a personality in the outline. Tom Herpich and especially Jesse Monyihan, the storyboarders for this episode, really created Lemongrab. They succeeded in making such a distinct character, and with Justin Roiland bringing him to life with some of the best voice acting of the series so far, he was basically guaranteed to become a recurring character. (I know there’s a massive elephant in the room that I’m avoiding, but it’s just not pertinent to this review. It will be addressed when I get to “Prismo the Wishmaster” and morals will be condemned!) Lemongrab’s very screamy, but he does it in such an alien way that he’s not annoying. He’s introduced with his iconic “unacceptable” catchphrase, which is pretty great and has been memed to death. He was originally going to be PB’s uncle (I assume it would have straight up been Gumbald, albeit in a very different incarnation, since he was mentioned in “Susan Strong”). I’m very glad they didn’t go that direction. They were dangerously close to ruining much of the direction they’ll take PB’s character in.
Lemongrab is now technically the rightful ruler due to PB’s deaging. I assume Bubblegum created Lemongrab with the intention of wanting an heir, and that stuck in Candy Kingdom law. Similarly to my take on “Hot Diggity Doom”, I don’t think Princess Bubblegum actually cares about the legal technicality, especially since she started creating the kingdom when she was a kid. She just wanted to delay the inevitable. She might also have more respect for the rules as a less jaded thirteen year old.
The flashback establishes that she created Lemongrab. It’s the first hint that PB created all the candy people, but it could still just be assumed that Lemongrab was an exception. The implications of PB creating life aren’t explored here, but this establishes a trait for her that will be explored a ton. We don’t know exactly when she created him, but it’s implied that it happened a long time ago, possibly hundreds of years ago. My theory is it happened before the flashbacks seen in “The Vault”. PB was used to making candy people dumb on purpose, probably straight up using dum dum juice. It’d make sense to not want her heir to be incompetent, so she’d need a different formula, especially since she isn’t using parts of the mother gum like she did with Gumbald, Lolly, and Chicle. This caused the experiment to “go wrong”. The reason I think it’s before “The Vault”, is because we see a young Peppermint Butler in it, who I don’t think was created with dum dum juice. She must have perfected the formula by then. Pep wasn’t intended to be an heir, as she’s still trying in “Goliad”, but she’ll eventually realize he fits the bill. Calling Lemongrab her “first” experiment to go wrong, is a straight up continuity error due to the Uncle Gumbald backstory. It’s also hard to believe that she didn’t have any other experiments go wrong. I think my theory could recontextualize the line to mean it’s the first one of her experiments with her new formula to go wrong, but it’s a little handwavey. As if this flashback didn’t already have enough interesting implications, we see that PB still has her memories. This raises the question of if she still has the same experiences, is her relationship with Finn still problematic? I argue that it isn’t. She behaves like a child in her new state. Her brain, just like the rest of her body, has less candy biomass, and is the brain of a child. She’s seeing her memories through the lens of a kid.
Finn and Bonnie try to solve their problems like kids would for once, with pranks. Their relationship is so pure and adorable. Bonnie cuddling up to Finn on the castle roof is one of the most wholesome moments ever in Adventure Time and Finn looks so incredibly happy. It really captures the innocence of a young child’s first romance, and it stands apart from the awkwardness that defines his relationship with Flame Princess and the maturity that comes with his dynamic with Huntress Wizard. At the same time, Lemongrab gets more defined as he tries to laugh and have fun with the pranks after Peppermint Butler’s explanation. He wants to fit in with others, but he just doesn’t see the world in a neurotypical way, so it comes off as forced and awkward, like his bobbing head laughter.
Peppermint Butler tells Lemongrab that food comes from Mars. It’s a weird lore detail that isn’t ever explained, but is referenced again. It’d make sense for a world of talking animals and talking food to get food from an outside source, but there’s plenty of examples of them eating food from Ooo. I’ll assume that industrialized food comes from Mars, and this is considered more civilized. Lemongrab eating the spiced food is a great sequence, and causes him too much pain for him to just laugh off.
Princess Bubblegum finally decides it's time to stop delaying what she knows is inevitable: becoming 18 again. Finn’s upset, but has the ability to recognize the greater good enough to swallow those feelings. This whole experience was more of a well needed break for PB, than a true commitment to a new permanent identity, just like a later arc she’ll have. But unlike later, she doesn’t change the way she conducts her life through learning from this ordeal. Many fans don’t think this episode works with PB’s portrayal in the rest of the series, but I disagree. She sacrifices her happiness for her people, which will be explored as a character flaw later down the line that ends up backfiring for her kingdom anyway. She views having fun as something mainly for children, and work as something that must consume adults. There is no middle ground for her. The pain this causes PB just makes her double down on work as a distraction. Some of that analysis is based on future episodes, but a lot of it can be taken away from just “Too Young”. It’s great to finally get an episode that focuses on fleshing out Princess Bubblegum’s deeper feelings and motivations. It’s really the only episode in the first three seasons with that accomplishment.
Princess Bubblegum says she needs her lab equipment to engineer more candy flesh, an even bigger hint that she created the candy people. I love the scene of her citizens giving PB parts of themselves. They recognize how selfless Bubblegum is, and sacrifice pieces of themselves like she does for them. Finn uses the power of love to catalyze the re-aging process. He gets to return Princess Bubblegum’s favor in “Mortal Folly” with the like-like sweater! It’s cheesy but it’s such a perfect resolution. Princess Bubblegum’s goodbye to Finn is heartbreaking, and it’s really tragic, especially after seeing how happy they were together. They hug and Finn has his first kiss. It’s a really special moment, and it really should be his only kiss with Princess Bubblegum. Fuck you “Wizard Battle” for taking away a little bit of what makes this moment so special and tragic.
Bubblegum turns back and is pretty cold to Finn, but I love the contrast of her just saying “‘scuse me Finn” and how much taller she is than Finn. She’s also cold to Lemongrab, calling him a butt, which is even more problematic given the fact she’s responsible for him. The next moment is soooo important. Finn comes on to PB, which I can’t even condemn him for this time given the circumstances, and PB immediately shuts him down. She takes the crush slightly more seriously than just innocent puppy love. I love how awkward Finn asking if she wants to hug more is, really highlighting how this relationship does not work with this age difference. She responds by not humoring him finally, saying “that was like 5 years ago” and “you really gotta move on.” People have criticized Bubblegum for being too cold to Finn. I do understand calling those comments, and her joking about the situation, insensitive. It comes across to Finn like the relationship they had means nothing to her now. I really don’t think it meant nothing to her, as we’ll see by her subtle changes in behavior and a line she has in “Burning Low.”  But, I’m sure it was hurtful and confusing for Finn. I still can’t really blame PB for how she responded. She definitely could have been more sensitive about it, while still clearly turning him down. But, it’s an awkward situation. She was still trying to be kind about it, even if the joking manner came off as hurtful, and she’s very clear in her rejection which is good. She still doesn’t know the true extent of Finn’s feelings.
Season two’s cliffhanger being immediately reversed in one episode is a controversial decision. It’s the first example of one of the biggest criticisms leveled against the series, not committing to interesting status quo changes. Turning Bonnie back to 18 is a decision I 100% support. Yes, it’s sad how much of a more entertaining character young PB is compared to the regular state of her character so far. But, essentially replacing the most boring character of the main cast with an entirely different character would feel like such a lame solution to a problem the series has. Working on making her a more engaging character is the correct path. The path they take Bubblegum on is my favorite aspect of the series, so I’m glad this didn’t stick. It’s just unfortunate that it takes another season for that to happen. It makes reversing back to the status quo more questionable. Also, we can’t lose Hynden Walch! To be fair, restoring the status quo after only one episode is the aspect of this that’s more contentious. I wouldn’t have been opposed to seeing young PB in a few more episodes, but I don’t really see what more could have been done. I think “Too Young” fully explores everything interesting that can come out of this plotline: her relationship with Finn and how Princess Bubblegum acts differently at this age. This also isn’t entirely a reset. Not only does this episode color Princess Bubblegum’s character moving forward, it also sets a clear new dynamic for Finn and Bubblegum. She stops humoring his advancements (except for “Wizard Battle”, but again, fuck that episode). It’s the first of many times “everything stays, but it still changes” is applicable. We’ll see how long that ends up being a good excuse moving forward though.
Finn calls Jake and he gives Finn some pretty bad advice if you take it as him still telling Finn to keep pursuing PB! To be fair, he doesn’t yet know that Bubblegum is an adult again. But Finn tells him that he got dumped. You could also interpret Jake’s advice as being persistent in finding love in general, not necessarily referring to Bubblegum specifically. His speech was intended to be important and to foreshadow the rest of the series, but I’m not sure if this really panned out. He does defeat a demon lord (whether it refers to Hunson, Ke-Oth, The Lich, or evil in general). Finn definitely warps through several worlds (“Puhoy”, “Crossover”, “Beyond the Grotto”, etc). Walking up the wizard steps could foreshadow Huntress Wizard, even though it’s unclear if they ever get in a committed relationship. The magic key and water world don’t really come to pass, unless you wanna say “President Porpoise is Missing!” I’m probably taking it too literally. I think it’s true meaning is to just be persistent in finding love despite all the obstacles. I think that’s what Jake’s means, so I like the speech. The episode ends with Finn looking at Bubblegum up above. It seems like Finn takes it as advice to keep pursuing PB specifically, as we see in upcoming episodes. A lot of fans took it this way, thinking Finn will just have to wait until he becomes 18 to get with PB. With him aging throughout the series, that does seem like a plausible endgame. But there’s obviously problematic implications with that. The series ends up going in a different direction and doesn’t make romance a central part of Finn’s final arc, so this speech really doesn’t end up feeling as important as it was set out to be.
This is a really iconic episode with a super memorable story and introduction of a major character, and it’s one of my favorites so far. It’s essentially a what if scenario, the one time we see what Finn and PB could be like as a couple. The one time Finn gets to live out his greatest desire. I’m not a Fubblegum shipper, but I’m glad the shippers get this episode. Shipping them outside this episode is weird, but I’m fully on board with their relationship here. I guess I’ll end with some controversy. You can’t tell me Princess Bubblegum didn’t have real feelings for Finn in this one. I totally interpret her as bi just because of this episode.

kermit the frog voice So in the seminal 2010 cartoon series adventure time there are many examples of the battle between chaos and order. On the side of order we have abraham lincoln, a great unifier; grob-glob-god, the hint is in the name that he is a manifestation of the abrahamic god; and of course prismo, sweet precious prismo. On the side of chaos we have forces such as magic man, whose a really really nasty piece of work; and the lich, the ultimate manifestation of chaos. But the text is more complicated than this simple battle between order and chaos - there is this ongoing post modern obsession with figures of false order: the most obvious of course being the 'earl' of lemongrab, an abomination created by princess bubblegum who uses dungeons and his title to present as a figure of order but all he does is shriek unpleasantly. Who can forget marceline's father of course. A businessman and a father he must represent order but no! He is a demon and a vampire! Can you even imagine a more frightening combination. He even violates the sacred trust between father and daughter by eating her fries- sobbing sorry I'm just getting emotional it's such a powerful betrayal. There is also princess bubblegum herself, she's a princess but also a woman, and the realm's constant conflict is caused by this fundamental flaw. She cannot fully embody the masculine role of protector king which is why the land of ooo needs finn, the redeeming hero with the shining sword! You can see in the later seasons she becomes a sort of stalin-esque tyrant. She has her Banana guard, a clear reference to the KGB, maintain terror in the citizens. You know there are people on tumblr.com who believe that Stalin was a trans woman- don't laugh, its a very reasonable theory. How else could such an organized society be so chaotic. It's helen of troy! It's like the french saying goes "Cherchez la Femme", it means "when there's trouble, look for the woman". I learned that from fallout new vegas. It's the name of a perk that turns your character into a lesbian - or I suppose some kind of lesbian heterosexual if you also took "Black Widow" - I'm sure the LGBTs community has a name for that. Speaking of spiders it's also a voice line in overwatch uttered by the despicable 'widowmaker' a woman who murders her husband - the greatest possible manifestation of chaos! She murders the robot dalai llama too! Now these two texts are clearly in conversation with one another and it proves that not only is widowmaker this devouring wife who destroys men but she is also, beyond a shadow of a doubt, a lesbian. And all the rule 34 overwatch hentai made in source filmmaker of tracer and widowmaker I've seen is canon.

[ image 1: lemongrab 3 in his armor from Come Along With Me, with some embellishments.  he is wearing some grey simplified european armor, with his green lemon sash on his right side, hidden under a dark green cape with a rounded, puffy neck ruff around his neck. the armor has a vertical lemon on the left side of the chest, half black and half white. the red thread used to sew lemongrab back together is visible, and he is frowning, head tilted down as he looks up at the viewer with one eye open. he is drawing his sound sword from under his cape.
image 2: lumpy space princess is gushing over lemongrab 3 in his fancy armor outfit, clutching his hands as he leans away with a goofy smile and a blush on his face. she says, 'Oh my glob, babe, you look so cool and hot in your armor and junk, you're like, such a hunk! Aaa' with a little heart at the end. she is also blushing, with hearts for eyes. lemongrab 3 has three little hearts floating next to him as he looks away bashfully. ]
no context, really, i just like his armor and wanted to add a cape

Lemonpink and elemental powers.
So in the episode Goliad Pb creates an heir to the candy kingdom, and we see her use a baby tooth of hers to ensure that Goliad has her DNA and can therefore inherit the throne under pretense that she’s technically pb’s biological child.
Tumblr media
This establishes that in order to lay claim to the candy kingdom throne you need to be Pb’s biological relative. In Too Young Lemongrab calls himself “the next in line to the throne” which means he’s also Pb’s bio relative. And as he’s also her creation we can assume she similarly created him with a bit of her body.
But pb is the candy elemental, and the fact that lemongrab was made with parts of an elemental’s body in him means he could have his own elemental powers. But Lemongrab is sour and as one of the comics explores, Lemongrab’s sour body repels certain types of candy, which could mean his potential elemental powers were never activated and they remained latent.
Tumblr media
Lemonpink however isn’t sour. And he’s made from an intense uncontrollable burst of elemental magic, so it’s not unreasonable that the parts of pb’s flesh that were used to make him were also activated by Patience’s spell, giving him minor elemental powers.
And here’s what I think they are. Lemonpink seemingly has an endless supply of pink lemonade in his head and can just... squeeze it out endlessly. Regular Lemongrab is NOT like that. When his juice got squeezed out he was just completely deflated,
Tumblr media
and in the only other scene he does this it seems like he had to control how much he squeezed out
Tumblr media
as he only punches near his eyes so only the fluid at the top will be squeezed out, leaving most of his brain submerged. Lemonpink does not have this problem like... at all... he squeezes out enough liquid to be completely empty and deflated
Tumblr media
But he’s fine.
Back to Elementals. Pb’s main power is the ability to create candy out of nothing and she can do this even when not under the effects of Patience’s spell
Tumblr media
Following on from the logic that Lemonpink has newly awakened Elemental powers, he could also create candy from nothing. And this is how he’s able to squeeze out so much liquid. He just uses his powers to replenish his pink lemonade blood so his head is always full.

TOGETHER AGAIN SPOILERS
A thread of lore, Easter eggs, episode connections, and background details from Adventure Time: Distant Lands: Together Again! Let me know if I missed anything! This is adapted from my original Twitter thread.
Tumblr media
1. I was expecting them to perhaps do a classic style title sequence for this episode, but I wasn't expecting them to straight up use the original title sequence. The only difference is this final screen saying "Distant Lands".
Tumblr media
2. The background of the title cards is also the hill from the title sequence.
Tumblr media
3. The ice cream having "50 flavours" and having an image of an enlightened soul is an obvious reference to the 50th Dead World as we see it later in the episode.
Tumblr media
4. Continuing with the metaphor, the dirt in the ice cream could be a parallel to the fact that Jake's Nirvana actually wasn't perfect, because his inaction was allowing for injustice to perpetuate.
Tumblr media
5. This whole scene feels immediately slightly off. Finn has his Scarlet sword and is out on a classic Ice King adventure, but he speaks in his grown voice and all the slang feels much more forced than it did in the real season one. Turns out this was deliberate.
Tumblr media
6. The snow golem speaks with a baby voice like it did in the pilot episode, even though in canon it has a deeper voice. This further hints that something is not quite right.
Tumblr media
7. The first major break in continuity is these snow golems resembling Uncle Gumbald and Peace Master, who Finn didn't meet until later in his life.
Tumblr media
8. LSP sitting on Finn's head like this is reminiscent of Pen Ward's piece for the 2018 Ble crew zine.
Tumblr media
9. Finn being given the choice of helping somebody but ending up helping everybody reminds me of "Memories of Boom Boom Mountain". It's the kind of resolution that wouldn't happen so much in the late seasons of the show, which helps make this scene feel even further out of place.
Tumblr media
10. Jake is half frozen by Ice King in pretty much the exact same way as he was in "Prisoners of Love", and even has a very similar line.
Tumblr media
11. The Snail is seen here. The crew have said that the Snail has been deliberately left out of previous Distant Lands specials, so its placement here is another very deliberate hint that this whole sequence is "trying too hard" to be like the early seasons.
Tumblr media
12. The book "Mind Games" appears a couple of times, as seen in several previous episodes of Adventure Time. The first is as Finn is approaching the library in his dream. It also appears as one of the items in Finn's backpack later.
Tumblr media
13. Jake is hurt when Finn fist bumps him with his metal arm, revealing that this scene is not real. This is also a callback to the title sequences of "Islands" and "Elements".
Tumblr media
14. A whole bunch of familiar skeletons are seen in the bird's nest: Dirt Beer Guy, Abracadaniel, Me-Mow, Lemongrab, Mr. Pig, and the Snail again. This doesn't necessarily mean that all these characters are dead, since this scene is just a hallucination.
Tumblr media
15. Old Man Finn! He's still got the chest tattoo of Jake, and this time we know that Jake is dead, so the theory that Jake died before "Obsidian" seems pretty likely. He looks similar to his old man design from "Puhoy", with the same facial hair.
Tumblr media
16. There are several cameos of familiar characters who apparently died at the same time as Finn. The first is this duck, who previously appeared in "Ocarina".
Tumblr media
17. The second is Donny, from the episode... uh, "Donny".
Tumblr media
18. This goblin guy is an unnamed background character from “The Silent King”.
Tumblr media
19. This old lady first appeared in "The Enchiridion", way back in season one. Old ladies are a species in the Land of Ooo, so I guess she wasn't actually very old back then, given she just about outlived Finn.
Tumblr media
20. This is the cobbler who first appears in "His Hero". Amazing that he lived so long given all the trouble he got into in that episode.
Tumblr media
21. Land of the Dead! This place was first seen in season two's "Death in Bloom", and now we are finally learning its actual purpose. It's a sort of gateway and hub to all of the other dead worlds.
Tumblr media
22. There are some more minor cameos at the gates: a house person from "Donny", a soft person from "Gut Grinder", and a wood person from "When Wedding Bells Thaw". And, of course, the gate guardian himself from “Death in Bloom”.
Tumblr media
23. Finn completely ignores the gate guardian in the same way he did in Death in Bloom. This also has the convenient effect of not having to reveal how Finn died, leaving it up to the audience's imagination.
Tumblr media
24. Mr. Fox! We already knew he would die at some point because BMO had his skull in the finale.
Tumblr media
25. Finn has his design from the first Distant Lands poster in this scene. Turns out it's young Finn in old Finn's clothes. But they gave him a shirt in the poster so you wouldn't be able to see the tattoo.
Tumblr media
26. The clapping that Finn does while he's looking for Jake is a callback to "James Baxter the Horse", when Jake tells Finn to listen for that same rhythm if they are killed and need to find each other in the afterlife.
Tumblr media
27. Mr. Fox talks about a "past life quotient", suggesting that there might be some kind of limit to how many times somebody can reincarnate. Finn's reincarnations are also seen in this scene; a callback to "The Vault", and confirmation that reincarnations share the same soul.
Tumblr media
28. Boobafina, the goose who Mr. Fox was in love with in his debut episode “Storytelling”, apparently reincarnated into a tugboat. We've already seen that objects can have souls in the episode "Ghost Fly".
Tumblr media
29. Finn is initially assigned to the 37th Dead World, which is the same one that Jake went to when he died in "Sons of Mars". We can only guess at what the other numbers on the ticket mean ;)
Tumblr media
30. Tiffany! Despite several lucky escapes throughout his life, Tiffany has finally died. I like the use of this imagery to express Finn's conflicted feelings about him.
Tumblr media
31. The 50th Dead World has long been established as the "highest" dead world, and the one synonymous with Heaven within Adventure Time's universe. It was first mentioned in "Ghost Princess" back in season three.
Tumblr media
32. It's unclear what happens to souls which are destroyed within the dead worlds. It is a similar question to asking what happened to the ghosts that were killed in "Ghost Fly".
Tumblr media
33. Death doesn't speak at all in Together Again because his voice actor, Miguel Ferrer, passed away in 2017 long before production began.
Tumblr media
34. Finn phases through New Death when he tries to attack him, just like what happened way back in "Death in Bloom".
Tumblr media
35. The 30th Dead World contains Tree Trunks as well as many of her love interests; Mr. Pig, her alien husband from "High Strangeness", Danny and Randy who first appeared in "Apple Wedding", and several more who we don't recognise, including at least one who presents as a woman.
Tumblr media
36. Literally yelled when these two showed up. Joshua calls Finn a crybaby, which is a callback to "Dad's Dungeon".
Tumblr media
37. The wall of weapons in Joshua and Margaret's house includes the iconic Demon Blood Sword, which was broken in "Play Date", as well as Margaret's auto-loading crossbow from "Joshua & Margaret Investigations".
Tumblr media
38. Jermaine is sidelined a few times through the episode, in reference to his attitude in "Jermaine" where he feels that Finn and Jake were always their parents' favourites. I would have hoped things would be a bit better by now.
Tumblr media
39. Fern gets name dropped while Finn and Jake are reuniting. A shame he doesn't actually show up in the episode.
Tumblr media
40. In this scene, Finn says "What time is it?" This is a very subtle reference to the 2010 cartoon "Adventure Time".
Tumblr media
41. In a couple of shots during this fight scene it looks like Jake might have a tattoo. It seems like it only becomes visible when he stretches out his arm.
Tumblr media
42. New Death's amulet in this scene resembles parts of the Lich's cape, foreshadowing his influence on New Death.
Tumblr media
43. There are several more cameos in the 50th Dead World: Booshy from "High Strangeness", one of the Marshmallow Kids from "Scamps", and Ghost Princess and Clarence, who were seen ascending to the 50th Dead World in "Ghost Princess".
Tumblr media
44. Finn didn't interact with Booshy in "High Strangeness", but it seems they must have met at some point before they both died because Finn knows his name.
Tumblr media
45. It seems like people in the 1st Dead World are slowly melted away until they become part of the landscape. Nasty.
Tumblr media
46. Lots more cameos in this scene: a gnome from "Power Animal", a gnome from "The Enchiridion", a Bath Boy from "The Vault", Blagertha from "Love Games", Maja the Sky Witch, a troll from "Dungeon", Chocoberry, Choose Goose, Wyatt, a spiky person from "Gut Grinder", and possibly more.
Tumblr media
47. Tiffany's insults are consistently nonsensical and amazing, as they were in the original series.
Tumblr media
48. The Candy Kingdom looks extremely different. Peppermint Butler is wearing the crown so he might be in charge now, which is supported by the kingdom's very magical-looking augmentations. It’s not clear whether Finn and Jake were expecting to find Princess Bubblegum or Peppermint Butler, since both have the initials “PB” and both could be going by the title of “Princess”. Perhaps Peps and Bubblegum share the princess duties now that PB is living with Marceline more of the time.
Tumblr media
49. Peppermint Butler has a "Boss" mug, although it's not the same colour as the one from "Obsidian".
Tumblr media
50. Jake's ghost has the same design as he did when BMO killed him in "Ghost Fly". I also absolutely love Finn's ghost. This scene establishes that ghosts are just visitors to the mortal plane from the dead worlds.
Tumblr media
51. Life has only appeared in animated shorts before now. Namely, "The Gift That Reaps Giving" which establishes her relationship with Death, and "Frog Seasons: Winter". This episode gives her a concrete place within Adventure Time's pantheon: she is in charge of reincarnation.
Tumblr media
52. A translation of Life’s angry French dialogue by Shado: “After all I did for that boy. After all I did for him. No, it's not possible. It's not possible no, that... that makes me so mad but it's not possible.”
Tumblr media
53. We finally have in-universe confirmation that Shoko's tiger is a previous life of Jake. This was previously confirmed by one of the writers, but wasn't canon until now.
Tumblr media
54. I feel like Finn pulled off Shoko's look even better than Shoko did. I wonder whether Finn has gained the memories of his past lives now that he’s dead.
Tumblr media
55. No Easter egg here, just want to appreciate this image.
Tumblr media
56. There is an elemental symbol on the wall here, as seen in "Jelly Beans Have Power".
Tumblr media
57. Tiffany's dramatic internal monologue is a recurring gag, as is his habit of nearly dying from falling into holes.
Tumblr media
58. The Jake suit makes a cameo in the fight against New Death. It was last seen in the episode "Reboot”.
Tumblr media
59. Finn's backpack contains a few familiar items: the t-shirt with the pocket from "It Came from the Nightosphere", Finn's underwear from "Little Dude" and other episodes, and a copy of Mind Games as I've already mentioned.
Tumblr media
60. The Lich's Hand is present in the background of Death's... death scene. This is probably the unseen "friend" who New Death keeps talking about.
Tumblr media
61. The Lich's menacing monologues often begin with a single command. Previously they have included "Fall" and "Stop". This time, the command is "Burn".
Tumblr media
62. Jake uses the word "boingloings", which is a callback all the way to "Hitman" in the third season.
Tumblr media
63. Jake's blue shape-shifter form from "Abstract" appears very briefly during his fight with Finn.
Tumblr media
64. Finn's lumpy space person form also makes an appearance. This design was last seen all the way back in the second episode of the entire show, "Trouble in Lumpy Space".
Tumblr media
65. Jake steps on the Lich's hand in a very similar way to how he stepped on Ash in "Memory of a Memory", which is itself a Monty Python reference.
Tumblr media
66. The credits include a dedication to a few AT cast and crew who have passed away. Polly Lou Livingston was the voice of Tree Trunks. Miguel Ferrer was the voice of Death. Michel Lyman and Maureen Mlynarczyk were both sheet timers on the original series. Rest in peace.
Tumblr media
67. The message that Finn and Jake write out on the ouija board is "BUTT", which Peppermint Butler takes as a distress signal. This message is also used as a distress signal by the Hot Dog Knights in "The Limit".
Tumblr media
68. Peppermint Butler's reversed dialogue from the scene where he makes contact with Finn and Jake is "Kee-Oth Rama Pancake", the spell from “Dad's Dungeon” for banishing demons.
Tumblr media
69. That appears to be President Porpoise with all of Tree Trunks’ other lovers.
Tumblr media
70. In this scene, Life is humming part of "Lonely Bones", the song which Death tried to record for her in her debut short "The Gift That Reaps Giving". It's hard to notice because it's so brief.
Tumblr media
71. Finn and Jake's cover is blown while in the Land of the Dead because Jake loudly farts, which also happened in "Death in Bloom".
Tumblr media
72. The place where Mr. Fox explains the perception mechanics of the afterlife is the exact same location as the River of Forgetfulness from "Death in Bloom", which, as it turns out, was imaginary.
Tumblr media
These are sort of out of order at the end because I was adding stuff to the Twitter thread as it got discovered. That’s all for now!

What are you talking about when ATLA dropped on Netflix on May 15, the same day She Ra season 5 dropped, ATLA became the #1 show in the USA, leaving She Ra to its dust XD Plus in the ATLA fandom we all agree the disability rep is excellent while in She Ra I see that everyone agrees that it's ableist written by neurotypicals.
Yes, but ATLA didn't come out like this year, it came out way back in the 2000s and built a cult following over a long time.
(Having both shows come out on the same day seems like a DELIBERATE ATTEMPT to crush She-Ra's viewings, I'm not going to lie.)
The disability rep in ATLA is a blind person who isnt actually blind because she can see with her feet. And I can say with certainty Toph was not written by blind people. There is one other disabled character in the show, but he is a very minor character in one or two episodes.
The disability rep in She-Ra was, as misguided as it can sometimes be, written by at least some actually disabled people, for an actually disabled character, not a character who subverts their disability with some magical superpower.
(EDIT: Toph is actually disabled, and yeah, there are points where her blindness causes her a lot of issues, and these moments are well handled. However, I don’t think people can relate much to the whole seeing-the-area-with-magic thing, and nobody bothers to commit to a realistically disabled character who hasn’t got these exit routes.)
I’ll always appreciate that She-Ra took that risk by actually deliberately writing an autistic character, and telling everyone when the show ended that yes, she has always been written as autistic. It exposes them to a shit ton of criticism, especially because of some of the sloppier ways she was handled (mostly how other characters treated her). However, they had the balls to go through with what they started, and even write autism-specific stories.
This is, unfortunately a million light years ahead from when people write characters “inspired” by autistic people but backpedal enormously whenever anyone asks if the character is autistic, because the show writers had been treating their characteristics like a nuisance or a gag the entire time and didn’t want to face critique because of it.
Sheldon from Big Bang Theory was celebrated as an autistic character, until the creators “retconned” that out of him as soon as people noticed he was a pretty debasing character.  Sherlock Holmes in BBC is massively coded as autistic but in such a meanspirited way, and once again, BBC decided to Word of God him as Allistic.  Lemongrab in Adventure Time, and Peridot in Steven Universe, are two primary examples of characters who were inspired by autistic people, written to have specifically autistic characteristics, and then word-of-godded as “definitely not autistic, there’s something else wrong with them”.
