I love Raph and haven’t said that enough so to be more specific I love that Raph is a soft boy who loves bear plushies, a gross boy who eats an assortment of things that are definitely better left alone, a smart boy who is more than capable of taking down villains through planning and fortitude alike, a strong boy who is dedicated to training his muscles and fighting prowess, a teenage boy who loves his brothers but is more than happy to tease and roughhouse with them, an angry boy who sometimes lets his anger take a hold of him to cover the fear, a gentle boy who is generous with hugs and affirmations to those he loves, a capable boy who takes on more than should ever be expected of a teenager, a good boy who just wants to be a hero and slowly comes to realize the cost of that duty, a good boy who has no reservations about putting himself in the way of harm coming to his family, a good boy who’s a great brother and son and person and deserves only the best the world has to offer.

and just in general.. leave people comments. leave them asks about their projects. just go over and gush about their work. i know it sounds embarrassing but writers love nothing more than to hear that someone likes what they are doing. if you find a fic that hasnt been updated in forever, comment on it. it might just be the spark the author needs to continue. while kudos and likes are nice, and just as valuable to some, its definitely in the words the people leave for them that matter the most. im not saying this to put pressure on anyone, its just how it is, and i feel like unless people are writers themselves, and even then sometimes, thats just hard to grasp, especially if the writer is a smaller and less popular one who doesnt get a lot of traffic in the first place

i think thats all. just be nice and considered to everyone, reblog peoples works, this post with others add ons and so forth. and if i find anyone talking shit here or at other writers for something they share, you'll be blocked and im probably taking your kneecaps. be fucking nice. we are all struggling here and we need to stick together

Been writing quite a lot of WH fic in my spare time recently and I realised I've kinda accidentally created a consistent interpretation of how the neighbourhood would see Frank X Eddie (liking each other or being together but on the down-low):

To be clear these aren't my theories on what's going on in the ARG, it's like... just in the world of the WH show itself, without getting deep into the horror and mystery elements, and therefore excluding facts like that in canon there's probably going to be homophobia themes to the story iirc. This is how I imagine it'd unfold if it just happened normally without whatever scariness is going on in Home as a factor.

Also I like playing around with lots of different ideas and dynamics and interpretations; this is just a bit of fun.

Has no idea, because she's not paying attention to them.

Knows Eddie & Frank 'love each other' but is unclear on how this differs from how he loves all his neighbours.

Would be very happy for them if someone explained it to him.

(Extra: he wouldn't pick up on anything particularly special about them/their relationship, he just assumes that all his neighbours love each other because, in his opinion, what's not to love. He'd also likely be one of the first people either of them would feel comfortable telling.)

(Extra 2: also no-one would ever explain it to him properly. Eddie would get into embarrassed blethering and Frank wouldn't know what to say beyond that it's "just different," Barnaby would keep giving joke answers, Poppy and Howdy would just be like 🤷not my place, and Sally and Julie would keep telling him things that only made him more confused.)

Barnaby:

Would eventually pick up on it, and take great joy in teasing either of them.

Ultimately supportive, though.

(Extra: He'd greatly enjoy irritating Frank and making Eddie flustered in ways that meant nobody else but them knew what he was hinting at lol)

I can't be surprised, though, because back when astarion's kiss animation was bugged, I saw discussions that it was "suspicious" that his kiss animation wasn't bugged for the default guy body, but was bugged for the default gal body. you know, as if larian somehow fucked up their own game's code on purpose, specifically to slight women who want to romance a canonically bisexual man that has flirtatious dialogue with the lady companions regardless of your tav's interest in him. totally checks out.

the complaints about changing lae'zel are entirely valid and I agree that her personality should not be toned down to appeal to the delicate sensibilities of the heterosexual man. I'm fairly certain that lae'zel's change was actually the only one that intentionally altered a companion's dialogue to be less abrasive. the alleged change to shart was also a bug fix, not an attempt to alter her character, if I remember correctly.

but by all means, let's accuse the devs of "ruining the game" every time they improve it. even better, let's all campaign for the addition of another romance! solely so that we can have sex with a popular NPC! rather than, oh I don't know, putting more pressure on them to add more material to the stories of wyll & karlach!

I swear, some people really do NOT know what it feels like to play a game where the devs truly and honestly are not listening to the playerbase...or where it takes literal YEARS for them to respond to even a fraction of the players' reasonable concerns & feedback.

something something still writing my curse of strahd fic. having to find ways to make it more difficult since theyre coming in from being level 13 post game

#starting off with them all separated is a great start methinks #also might have it where being in strahds domain is temporarily inhibiting them a couple levels (that they get back if they defeat him) #like he subconsciously inhibits anyone to be more powerful than him past a certain level to keep them from usurping him #also for context i have a headcanon post game that they miss the telepathic connections the tadpole gave them post game #and they want a way to keep in contact if theyre far from each other or even on different planes #so they work to get a very powerful set of rings for all the origin characters that have rarys telepathic bond on them #that allow them to communicate telepathically no matter the distance or plane with anyone else wearing the ring #a little bit like the ward rings you can find in act 2 that let you ward with the other wearer no matter the distance #and so if theyre ever adventuring together and are separated they also use it to their advantage to communicate via telepathy on how to meet #depending on who's using the ring to communicate too they have a unique presence/feeling to whoever theyre reaching out to #for gale its electric because i can imagine the weave imbued in him and having a sort of sparky magical feel #for astarion every function seems to slow and they get a bit more chill because of him being undead #etc etc sort of thing #and its grate because the cos book literally specifies about spells that allow message or communication and strahd being able to listen in #so im going to use that as a really good point of fear after a certain scene i have planned #that way to deter them from using the rings so they can get nerfed again #im seriously really excited for this #i have so many post game astarion/soleil adventuring fics planned based off official campaigns and even some of my own #and im so excited for all of them #i promise the strahd fic is not the only one already in the works its just that this is the one im more actively writing currently and have #the most written for at the moment

I know that Disney not promoting Strange World pretty much at all is really frustrating. That it’s galling to feel like you’re always celebrating the barest scraps of representation. The people who are asking for more, for better, are not the real problem.

But also, several of the local elementary schools in my small hometown went to see this movie as a school field trip before Christmas break. (I use that term intentionally; this place is conservative/Christian enough that it is still very much “Christmas break,” and not “winter holidays.”)

I can’t even begin to imagine that happening when I was a kid. A movie with an openly gay protagonist being treated like a normal kids’ movie? That you just take a bunch of six-year-olds to see, and your biggest worry is whether the “danger” scenes might be too scary for them? That elementary schools would be willing to sign up for it without fearing mobs of angry parents at their doorsteps?

We can’t let the fact that we still have so far to go blind us to the progress that we have made. Keep pushing, keep fighting, but celebrate the victories, however small. They all pile up into something bigger.

#like im so so good with the kids and some of the adults but im so painfully awkward #at least to me #oh my god. i rly forgot that i have social anxiety like a bitch #like college i kinda was like ‘i’m reinventing myself whatever’ #but then after my mental health deterioration i became #painfully. PAINFULLY anxious about how i act around others and what i say and do #it literally keeps me up at night like my ocd wont let me sleep #my brain literally keeps me awake and replays things i said during the day #it’s so painful #im really worried about my ability to communicate with parents and bosses #like im becoming more aware of it as i come out of this fog of depression #and actually feeling things #i kinda. hate it honestly #ik it’s insane to say ive gotten comfortable with my depression but i have #i shouldnt be. it’s wreaking havoc on my life #also im so unorganized and i cant figure out how to get my life together #like my room i just cant do it but i want to so bad but even if i start small i dont do enough #idk hsnsnsjdsjhd ive had such a long day im so tired and ive been out of it since i hit the curb earlier #my balance is off i keep running into things mostly on my right #also going to work makes me nervous and i hate it

#it took me a solid 20 minutes to notice after posting it but the other day i wrote a starter where #markus disappeared & connor had been tried and convicted of his murder #and hadn't seen him in over a year and a half #and when someone told him markus had walked into the hospital's ER #connor thought: #My Boyfriend's Alive #i didn't even noooootice it was so off-the-cuff. no questions asked. #there was another one where ... markus was missing for 3 years and connor Did move out of their home #and in with hank (because living alone Isn't Healthy for him) #and even - yes - thought he was dead. i think after the two year mark it would have started ... #drifting a little. because he thought he was dead. #but a long-distance relationship where they have to make things work? #i do think long-distance relationships can be difficult and connor has had. like. in human verse recently he's #had to stop and say Let's Specifically Do Something Together because they've both almost died and have had to be working etc etc etc #and haven't had Time to do something together in a while and he misses just. Being There with him. #but that's the sort of thing that they *do*. they say 'i have noticed this isn't everything i need. let's try [xyz]' #they communicate. even if it did end up falling apart i can only see it being amicable and really ... #so long as they both keep wanting to be there. they'll keep being there. #anyway. the answer to this question is yes. if it needed to be that one of them was out of state or in another country #for several months or even a year #they would make it work. it might not be as close as it would be in person and it mightn't be how you'd expect #(though it also might be both of those things) #but they would find ways to check in with each other and see each other when they could and it #may well start with the impression 'we'll put this on hold until we can Be Together-be together' #but it would quickly shift from that because a relationship on hold is not sustainable. a relationship still there Is. #it would still be There. #thank you for asking!
