Prompt: "You, whose image the Dark Mirror did beckon forth... If your heart bids it, take the hand of the one reflected in the mirror."
Pairing: Dire Crowley and GN!Prefect/ Yuu/ MC
Genre: Yandere (platonic)
TW: Yandere Dire Crowley, crow man's delusional and literally does not give two fucks, just generally creepy vibes all around.
Tumblr media
AN: I am so, so, so sorry for what you are about to read now lol. If you get too confused in the middle, don't worry, I was just as confused writing this but my brain just wouldn't rest until I finished and posted this so here we are. The basic summary of this is that Yuu or the Prefect is trapped in an endless cycle because Crowley overblotted. You might have to read this twice or thrice to understand the how and why <3
Tumblr media
He knows.
From the moment he sees them, he remembers.
He remembers and he watches as they do it again.
And again.
And again.
A puppet, unaware of their being handled by someone else, someone kinder and gentler who just wants to keep them safe and sound.
Even if it means trapping them in an endless cycle.
Even if he is the only one who sees and notices and remembers.
Dire Crowley cuts an imposing figure as he stands in his office, facing an ornate mirror. Not the Dark Mirror, no. This particular mirror has its roots in mystical arcane magic, from the times of Jupiter and when the Titans roamed free. Dire has a faint memory of his mother, the Crowley Matriarch, telling him to be careful with it, to pass it down to his heir as she had, to him.
Crystal clear, it beckons to him to reveal himself. To bare himself, imperfections and flaws laid out in the privacy of his office for it to see.
A selfish, sadistic desire to pick apart every carefully constructed lie, each bejeweled facade to show the utter mess of a man that lies beneath it all arises in him; he finds himself indulging in it more often than he likes to admit.
The masked man removes his mask for what is not the first time, and most certainly would not be the last. Sharp golden eyes look on as black ink, once held within the confines of his mask, drips down his face. Times like these make him wonder and marvel at how he has not met his demise yet.
Fingers adorned with golden claws rise and touch the blot, marveling at how cold it feels as it stains his skin. Lesser mages would have been dead long ago, Crowley knows this. Slight dread rises in him at the thought, knowing that his magic reserves are long finished; he lives on borrowed time and magic.
But then again, who cares? As long as he can have them here, where they belong, safe and sound-
A knock resonates through the room, startling the headmage. He quickly puts the mask on his face again and clears his throat, saying, "Come in."
He watches as they walk in, no doubt to complain about something, or to talk about their financial situation. Perhaps he should increase their allowance? After all, it is their being, their magic that sustains him, and allows him to live through these lifetimes watching over the unassuming, now magicless human he had imprinted on and the students they had endeared themself to.
Crowley watches as they speak, unable to stop his lips from curling up into a smile. He hems and haws and lies through his teeth about not being able to find them a way back.
He sees the light in their eyes dim; it is a small change, one that doesn't stay for long. But the magicless human is precious to him, and so he observes them. He watches them leave his office silently, a stark contrast to when their impatience and indignance have them cursing his name to the skies. No outcome, no outburst of their emotions will be able to move his cold, frozen heart to thaw, however; they belong to Twisted Wonderland, as Twisted Wonderland belongs to them.
In their first lifetime, Crowley recalls with the fondness of a father thinking of his grown-up child, they did possess magic; far different in nature, but magic nonetheless. And powerful too, considering the aura of it radiated from their being even as something stopped them from being able to use it.
Crowley wonders if it was so that he could see how invaluable, how indispensable they were.
How the entirety of Twisted Wonderland was made for them.
He did try, the first time, to find them a way back home. Endless efforts were dedicated to researching the existence of universes and multiverses. Of course, such exhaustive research would take time, time which he saw them spend getting close to the students of Night Raven College and fighting overblots.
Seven overblots, in the span of one year.
A record untouched by any other being, mage or otherwise. A record they kept making each and every lifetime they spent in the loop. A record that became his new normal, so much so that he no longer gives more than a cursory glance to the overblots and their aftermath.
He knows how it all ends, after all.
In their first lifetime, his efforts had bore fruit. His studies revealed a way to connect the Dark Mirror to their plane of existence, through the use of the very mirror that was hidden behind his back. His blood had run cold at the revelation, and he spent the next few weeks? months? looking for alternatives. For other ways to be able to send them back.
Until one day, the Prefect found out.
As they angrily interrogated him for the reasons behind his silence, asking him why he would not send them back even though there was a way, he realized exactly why he was hesitant about sending them back.
Crowley had no spouse, no children. But the mirror, the mirror which had been in his family for generations, needed an heir. One who could gain control over it, rather than have it control them like it did with so many of his ancestors, including his mother.
Surely the one dubbed a beast-tamer could tame such a dangerously powerful magical artefact?
He desperately begged and bargained with them, trying to change their mind. Trying to entice them into staying forever in Twisted Wonderland, as his heir. He offered them gold and silver, riches beyond what one would expect a man like him to have. He offered them the immense honour and prestige that came with being a deity that the entirety of Twisted Wonderland bowed to.
But they... they refused to stay. The only thing that was in their mind was to go home. Why couldn't they get it through their head that Twisted Wonderland was meant to be their home?
The aftermath of that argument... Crowley's memories are hazy at best. He remembers waking up in a pool of blot, the sticky ink covering his hands and the top of his face, dripping constantly. He remembers the mirror glowing as he dragged himself to it like a mindless moth flies to the flame even with the risk of getting burned.
Words had slipped through his mouth like the prayers of the devout at the altar of their deity, the faint and familiar hum of magic accompanied by a slight crackle of dark miasma.
"Ah, my dear esteemed benefactor... My proud, beautiful flower of evil. You are truly the fairest one of all," he had spoken, not knowing exactly what spell he was casting. All he knew, was that he was succumbing to the mirror, the same way his mother had; the same way all of his ancestors had, giving into the madness that such unchecked power and magic could create.
"O magic mirror, thy wisdom I entreat... Reveal unto me the visage I seek.." A vision of them, standing on the other side of the mirror, had Crowley try to reach out to them. His hand grazed the solid glass, before passing through it. He watched as their eyes widened and they took a step back.
"You, whose image the Dark Mirror did beckon forth... If your heart bids it, take the hand of the one reflected in the mirror." A shiver of thrill ran up his spine as they gingerly placed their hand in his after giving his words some thought, even with all the doubt in their eyes. He curled his fingers around their warm hand, and pulled.
He later found out that, during his overblot, he had managed to trap a significant portion of their soul in the mirror that was his family heirloom. The mirror rejected their magic, foreign as it was, and somehow those powers transferred themselves over to Crowley.
The words Crowley spoke, was the way to invoke their soul and bring them back each time they left Twisted Wonderland. A reset button, if you will.
Every time they show the slightest hint of wanting to leave, the slightest glimpse of understanding that he is the one they need to defeat in order to go home, he resets. Memories get wiped and Twisted Wonderland moulds beneath his gold-plated fingertips to what it was before. They say time waits for no man, but then again, Dire Crowley is more monster than human now. And so it bends to his will, but not without taking away his memories as well.
But then he sees them.
And he remembers.

Assuming the farmer has social anxiety and they're really scared of approaching the towns people when they first moved in (except Lewis and Robin because it was practically forced interaction lol), how do you think the towns people approach the farmer or how long does it take for the farmer to approach them? Sorry if this sounds like a lot, you can write anything and any length 🥹🥹
Hey, dear anon 👋 Thanks for your ask ❤️
The question is quite interesting, by the way. I decided to write about all the residents of the Valley, so I apologise that the answer took so long. Anyway, enjoy!
How quickly the townspeople become friends with the shy Farmer:
Oh, the new farmer decided to visit the Saloon after all? Let them sit down, then. Gus noticed that the shy Farmer came here to meet new people, but they was still afraid even to address Gus himself and ordered dinner, sitting at the farthest table. He would be quite cautious and very polite to Farmer. However, you won't get a long conversation - other customers are waiting. So the Farmer will have to try their luck at friendship with Gus after hours. Considering his good-naturedness, it won't be difficult even for Farmer.
In Shane's case, a man who has no desire to get to know the new residents of this town (he hardly interacts with the locals either, except for his aunt and niece and maybe Sam) the time to get to know each other will be quite long. A year or more. It's going to be very slow, and most likely Farmer themself needs to make the first step towards friendship.
Clint didn't really care who it was that had come to their forgotten little town, which for some unknown reason he had also been brought to. The local blacksmith was hardly sociable, rather the opposite, a perpetually sullen and shy pessimist. Therefore, he will not actively seek acquaintance and friendship with Farmer. So the young grower of various crops needs to make the first step. It is better to start with amethysts, they are easier to get.
Given that Harvey is a rather good-natured and patient man, and also wants to maintain a good relationship with his patients, it doesn't matter who makes the first move - both Farmer and Harvey will quickly find common ground. A month, maybe a little less.
Grandma Evelyn will welcome Farmer with open arms. Having learned from Lewis that the new Farmer is very shy, she will be the first to start a dialogue and do everything she can to make her old friend's grandchild feel at home in the Valley. About from delicious baked goods sent in the mail, or simple greetings in the main square as she tends to the flowers. Even the shyest of people will want to make friends with her, such a sweet Granny!
Farmer doesn't have to worry about introducing themself to the strange man who lives in a high tower far from Pelican Town - Rasmodius is already the first to write a letter and the first to start a conversation when the youth crosses the threshold of his domain. Passionate more in the knowledge about the mystical 'Junimo', the Wizard pays no heed to Farmer's faint attempts to get to know him better. Maybe later, when he has some time free from magical research. He's not overly social, and he often speaks in riddles, but still quite a nice person. Albeit a bit odd, but in a year's time he can be called an unusual friend.
To be honest, in the Spring Year 1 Alex will first try to start a dialogue with the newcomer, but he will quickly lose interest and may not even remember the existence of Farmer at all. And if they do have a small dialogue, Alex is unlikely to remember it. The first step will be made by him, and taking into account that the young athlete will most often praise himself as a future sports star, the conversation will be... so-so. It will take a lot of time and Farmer's patience for Alex to reveal himself to be the real deal, not the boastful brat.
Like her regular dance partner at the Flower Festival, Haley doesn't seem to notice Farmer's presence at all, with only her sister constantly buzzing in her ear that someone has arrived in Pelican Town and settled on the old farm. Straightforward, sometimes tactless in her comments about the appearance of Farmer, and flippant - many who do not know Haley intimately will not have the best first impression. So it will take a lot of time (and self-control) to get to know her better.
Demetrius, preoccupied with his experiments, would not impose his acquaintance on the newcomer, only make polite introductions and inform them that his daughter also wanted to welcome Farmer. Stuck in his notes or constantly in the lab, Farmer will have to try a little harder to draw the scientist's attention to themself and make a friendly conversation. In principle, a few attempts during half a year - and they will quickly find a common language.
With Abigail, it would depend on her mood. Some days she will take a interest in the Farmer, ask questions and slowly become buddies. However, there are days when a fight with her parents or something else makes her mad, and the purple-haired girl can bark at Farmer in such a way that they have no desire to communicate further. But she is quite friendly, so friendship with her will start after a few months, and she will be the initiator.
Oh, Penny... Two very shy people who have exchanged greetings, and now stand in silence, absolute awkward silence... But interestingly, they will become friends pretty quickly, the key is to find a small interesting topic (Farmer will probably talk first) and the conversation will develop into another conversation, and another, and another. And *poof* - friendship!
Emily saw Farmer for the first time and was immediately like - instant mutuals. She feels Farmer's aura, the little sparks in their eyes, and realises they are going to be best friends! The girl will often invite Farmer to her house for tea, or to show her new outfits she has sewn. Maybe if they want to, she'll make something nice for them too? She is easy to get along with, and in a month Emily and Farmer will be besties!
Marlon is a man of few word, and not to say that he actively seeks friendship with the people of the Valley. He is a lone wolf by nature, and the only friend he can name is Gil, who, by the way, is also a man of few word. On the other hand, if Farmer feels uncomfortable with so many people in Pelican Town, Guild and two old adventurers will warmly welcome Farmer to their cosy base, treat them to campfire soup and share tales. So slowly but surely the friendship of the two older guild members with the youngest will form.
Grumpy, distrustful of new faces, a bit rude - George definitely wouldn't be called a conversation buddy. And he certainly wouldn't interrupt his favourite TV show to have a chat with the new Farmer. He's not trying to be rude on purpose, no. It's just that due to his advanced age he can be impatient, so the Farmer will have to be patient and make the first move to talk. Six or eight months is about enough time for George to trust them.
Jas and Vincent will behave completely opposite to each other: while Sam's younger brother needs only a few snails or a piece of pink cake to call the Farmer his best friend, Jas will be more wary, remembering that Aunt Marnie and Uncle Shane always said not to talk to strangers. However, if the shy farmer finds a common language with Marnie or Shane first, then Jas herself will take a step towards friendship. With Vincent it will be about a couple of months, for Jas longer, but they will soon understand that the Farmer is quite a good person and not boring adult.
Well, it's safe to say that it was Farmer who was the first to strike up a dialogue and friendship with Leo. The boy is very shy on his own, but parrot friends are his friends, so slowly but surely he and Farmer become friends. I would give it a year for Leo to fully trust Farmer.
Gunther is in the library most of the time, so the introduction only happened with Farmer when they brought an interesting artefact. Not to say that the museum keeper wants to be friends with them that much, but if they don't mind being pals - then Gunther won't say no. Or conversely, if the Farmer feels uncomfortable and too shy, he'll leave them alone. If Farmer is so interested, then let them visit Gunther more often, he has many interesting stories, and they'll become pals in no time.
Oh, a human? Here in the sewers? Please don't be frightened by Krobus, he's completely harmless, he'll even sell you interesting goods. Friendship? Oh, well, it can get very lonely in here. The Farmer's not going to harm Krobus, correct? Then, shall we be friends? Also polite and shy, Farmer and Krobus will quickly find common ground.
With her aerobics club, Caroline knows how difficult and scary it can be to get to know a new community. Some fit right in with their little group right away, some took a little more time. So Caroline will endeavour to make the atmosphere in her husband's shop as welcoming as possible for Farmer, just so they don't feel uncomfortable. 3-4 months of small conversations - and, well, a friendship began.
Caroline's husband, Pierre, on the other hand... Well, he'll be the first to engage in dialogue, that's for sure. Except that he sees Farmer first as a potential customer who needs to be wooed with tempting discounts on seeds and a friendly atmosphere so that they will definitely only buy from his shop. If Yoba has gifted the Farmer with universal patience, then they can try to bond with Pierre as buddies, at least, and not just as buyer/seller.
To Farmer's great regret, Morris is even worse than Pierre..... Social anxiety? No anxiety, because discounted merchandise at JojaMart will save the Farmer all the trouble! Marketing from Yoba, for crying out loud... If for some reason Farmer decided to give the chance to be friends with Morris, they'd have to try their best to talk to the perpetually busy manager of a huge company about something unrelated to that very company.
Willy is your man! Even if Farmer isn't too interested in fishing, the old sailor can still quickly become a good friend for a shy newcomer in Stardew Valley. Silently fishing, telling tales of his fishing adventures or just a little conversation - good-natured enough, he will become a good friend in as little as two or three months.
Heh, If a Farmer kid puts a free mug of cold beer next to Pam, she will already call them a friend! Ha ha! Eh, don't mind her, she's just kidding. But seriously, if you want Pam's favour, it would be a good idea to start with ale or beer, and then you can get to know her. If the poor shy Farmer is against alcohol, they could fill Pam up with a mountain of her favourite parsnips - and in one spring they'll be besties!
Sebastian is not what you would call an outgoing personality or conversation buddy, so Farmer needs to be the first to strike up a dialogue with the local emo. Sebby himself is also shy, and it takes quite a while for the first step towards friendship. Six to nine months, maybe a little sooner if Farmer and Sebby are in the company of Abby and Sam. You find friendship faster in a collective somehow.
Oh, there they are! The cause of much discussion and various rumours in Pelican Town over the last week! Oh, no no, nothing bad has been said. Elliott was just intrigued and eager to meet the new Farmer who had come from the big city to seek happiness in the Valley. He's only recently arrived too, you know. But the writer realises that moving to another place is tiring, and meeting a new community can be a bit scary. So when the Farmer is the first to give the sign, Elliott is happy to talk about his life and ask about the life of the new Farmer. Five months is enough time to build a strong friendship.
Although Leah lives alone in her cottage near the forest, the red-haired artist doesn't mind guests at all. So she is very welcoming to the new Farmer, who is trying to get over their nervousness and get to know all the residents. A big bonus if during their stay at Leah's house the Farmer decides to treat the her to some wild mushrooms or vegetables they've managed to grow on their farm. In a couple of months, the two neighbours will become real friends, constantly exchanging forest gifts and interesting stories.
If the Farmer loves animals, they already have Marnie as a friend. Always cheerful and optimistic - the new Farmer will quickly find common ground with her. Of course, she needs to get to know them better before selling her favourite animals, but she can already let the Farmer pet her favourite goats or cows if they are feeling stressed by their new acquaintances. Affectionate animals will immediately calm and cheer up the Farmer, + 10 point to building friendship with Marnie. Be an honest and decent person, don't forget to respect the animals, and then you'll become Marnie's friend in a few months.
Oh, Jodi had time to discuss with her friends all the rumours about the new Farmer who had arrived in the Valley. And the rumours were naturally different from reality, because Jodi hadn't expected them to be so shy. Oh well, everyone is different. She doesn't mind chatting to Farmer sometimes, but doesn't actively seek friendship, as she has so much to do around the house!
As for Kent... It's pretty complicated here. Tired and exhausted, he's trying to get away from all the horrors he's been through, and although he was the first to greet Farmer at the start of Year Two, he's not going to chase after Farmer and offer friendship. Kent is... trying to come round. So it may take Farmer more than a year to bond with him and let him remember that before he left Pelican Town, he had and has, in addition to a loving family, friends- old friends, and a new one too!
Oh, oh, oh! And Maru was just looking for the newly arrived Farmer to meet! New people in a small town are always interesting, so the young inventor doesn't miss the opportunity to introduce herself, not forgetting to recommend that they also introduce themselves to her parents and half-brother. Will gladly listen to the Farmer, or have no problem leaving them alone if they are still too shy and trying to get used to the local community. Three months is enough time for the two of them to hang out in the lab and discuss different topics like a nerds.
Please don't think that Linus is a rude and cold person, he is not. It's just that people's scepticism towards him and his chosen lifestyle has made Linus behave very cautiously around strangers. Though Stardew Valley villagers are more kind than in other places, caution never hurts. Farmer has to be patient to gain friendship with a wild man who happens to be very learned, kind and wise. But they will know this only when the Farmer gets to know Linus better, and that will take at least six months.
Oh, they moved in already? Sam heard that someone new is coming to the old farm. The musician doesn't mind new faces in the Valley at all, as this could be a potential friend to hang out with. Considering he's always chilling and a real soul of the company, it's easy to make a friendship with him right away. He has the personality of a golden retriever.
If Farmer isn't a spy of the Shadow People, then Dwarf doesn't mind getting to know each other at all. It's been a long time since he's talked to humans, and he has so many important questions that interest him so much (about milk, for example). Quite a bit surprised when the conversation makes the Farmer nervous and says they're shy. Well, they were the ones who broke through the rubble-filled passage to the cave with their pickaxe, so it's too late to be shy. And there's no arguing about it. As with the Clint, a mountain of amethysts is a guarantee of friendship with the Dwarf, so in four months he'll stop suspecting them of espionage. But it's not certain.
Wonderful! Robin and Lewis are pleased that, despite their shyness, the new Farmer has found common ground with some of the people of Stardew Valley already. Robin, by the way, thought she and the town mayor maybe had gone a little overboard by practically forcing their acquaintance on the poor Farmer, but she's glad it all ended well. And Lewis is just glad that their little community has been enriched with another resident.

the first thing I think of when Reader is portrayed as naive and innocent in an AU is how in the future they’re worse then all their hybrids combined, and I’m getting some major brainrot over the hybrid AU so just hear me out here ‼️‼️
Reader was of course innocent and naive, sheltered in every way, but that was before their father suddenly decided that playing the role of a doting father in public would boost his dying image more then keeping reader locked up
So Readers thrust into the life of an heir, forced to come to grips with the cold harsh reality that is the business world, and realize that they’re never going to have any true power or freedom as long as their father is still around
So they plan and scheme, analyzing their fathers greatest achievements and his worst failures, learning all about how to play the business world, and people in general, like a fine tuned instrument. Just patiently waiting till their fathers gradual cover ups over the years suddenly make their way into the public eye.
And when it’s revealed that Readers parent abandoned them and then picked them up again for his entertainment, forcing them to turn to mere hybrids for genuine human interaction?
Well, both those concerned for Reader, and those not, take note. Suddenly investigations are happening and their fathers tax fraud and million dollar bribes are revealed, and oh what’s that, he’s also involved in multiple different crime organizations? How horrible
Reader miraculously finds themself to be the CEO how every company that their father had, an owner of all of his properties, and immeasurably rich beyond belief when their father dies in jail under simply tragic circumstances.
Only this time, Reader won’t let the opportunity to take the world by storm pass by. After all, they have a rather beautiful collection of hybrids waiting at home for them, and you know how clingy beloved pets are when you make them wait.
You cant blame the poor darlings though, the public whispers behind lustful gazes and adoring stares, they just can’t get enough of their powerful owner
actually anon this ask (which has been fermenting in my ask for a year now) has been the inspiration in why there's been a whole heir sub plotline in my hybird works.
i like the idea of the hybrids subtly corrupting the innocent bird that's been in their cage for far too long, now able to spread their wings but just doesn't know how. they feed darling whispers about how their parent abandoned them, how they're the only family they have. and all of them are oh so eager to follow reader's convoluted schemes to bring down their father and the company's enemies.
i find that corrupting darling would have many benefits to the hybrids. one, well, corruption arc? it would be just so lovely to see your naivety crushed and broken, making you rely on them not as your protectors but also as your fellow sinners in this plan. two, since you're so influential, you'll be able to at least influence society's views on hybrids. you'll be in a high enough position to influence lawmakers to loosen their binds on hybrids, to make hybrids equal... idk, just a thought.
this only applies to zhongli, since he's bound by a contract to your father, but this could be the perfect opportunity to revenge. what better way to take revenge on the man who coerced you into a humiliating contract than watch his own flesh and blood (who he does love despite all his callousness) impeach him from his throne and throw him into jail. it's perfect. plus, he'll be able to spend freedom with you forever and ever <3

Oh, okay, I see! Umm. I have a couple things to throw out, that also have my own thoughts and I was also thinking of other possible Yuu ideas if you’re interested in them( just what their “!” Is for and personality, not who they’re matched with) and up to hearing about them. Uh. This ask though is for the creature post and-
Me, a person who loves mythology and folklore: My time has come-
Theatre kid!Yuu as a changeling(or some other shapeshifting creature, I know of the background surrounding changelings and can understand why one may be uncomfortable with changelings(I am also the ✨neurodivergent✨))
Harpy!Yuu as a Manananggal(I know that harpies are already mythical creatures, but think about it)
Maid!Yuu as a Brownie (yes, you read that right, though it can also be spelt “broonie” or “brùnaidh” and they are a type of fae, but ,ah)
Special Forces!Yuu as a Grim Reaper(I just think it’d be neat if their role was to guide and protect the dead on the way to the afterlife instead of being what people usually expect/think of reapers, and also because they themself are often depicted as scary and dangerous, and they are, but they more so just. Guide souls to the after)
Vet!Yuu OR Marine Biologist!Yuu as a Selkie(I want them to go on a rant of how selkies are NOT half seal half human, their lower body is NOT that of a seal!(this is my being frustrated by Selkie designs that aren’t actually selkies, but the art is still really good/nice))
Oookay, that’s all of them that I had prepared. Uh. And of course, these are just suggestions, you don’t have to add anything if you don’t want to or you can pick and choose which you’re interested, I hope this isn’t coming off as forced and I apologize if it does-
🎭Theater Kid!Yuu- Shapeshifter
The ultimate actor.
Can play any role and use any voice.
They spend time endlessly rehearsing.
Likes to play pranks by pretending to be an injured animal to have people take care of them.
Allergic to iron.
Will not use their powers responsibly
They don't consider any one form their true form. They simply are.
Agender icon.
"What's gender? Is it edible?"
🧹 Maid!Yuu- Brownie
Got inside after someone left a bowl of cream out
They set up shop and began cleaning at night.
During the day they hide out in the form of a dormouse.
They have a fuzzy tail
They fix up broken items. You might find an extra mismatched button on your shirts.
Don't leave a mess on purpose. It's impolite.
If they feel taken advantage of they with make a mess and leave.
Leave out a treat for them and they will reward you in kind.
You'll never lose an item again. It will appear just where you remember it. Unfortunately, that always the last place you look.
🔫Special Forces!Yuu-Reaper
It's hard work and the coworkers are the worst.
One of the many reapers tasked with dealing with the recently deceased.
Really prickly due to being constantly tasked with the most stubborn ghosts.
"Shut up before I kill you again!"
Believes Sam was a Reaper (is he? Possibly)
Their skin has white skeleton tattoos. But when they are working their skin turns translucent and reveals their actual skeleton.
Enjoys their job when they actually get to do it without problems.
Believes in the myth they tell all reapers about that guy sisyphus.
Their favorite job is chasing down wondering souls that are on the run.
💉Nurse!Yuu - Caladrius
They have white wings.
Gets confused for a angel but they are firm that they are not.
Their job is to take sickness and transfer it into their body. Then they fly away with it as they disperse it, healing themselves.
Gives away feathers to ward off danger and illness.
Hates that Savanaclaw students use them as a cat toy.
A long suffering birdy who is losing too many feathers.
🩺 Vet!Yuu- Werewolf
Not the same as beastmen and is firm about that.
They look human most of the time but the whole transformation thing gets in the way.
Is still a vet but if now they are liable to snap their jaws at patients.
They love a good nap in the sun but must resist.
Jack knows to keep his head down if he doesn't want to get along. That just how wolves do. Make nice in the pack or be pushed out.
They don't imprint. If you say that they will rip out your throat.
They don't have soulmates. They have normal relationships like normal people. They just believe in loyalty to make relationships last. They can change partners but they usually don't.
🌊Marine Biologist!Yuu- Selkie
Not a mer just a cute rolly polly seal.
Such a friendly face, but they have sharp teeth.
Keeps their seal skin hidden away.
These days if someone does take their skin they are trained to attack them. Watch out they go for the fingers first.
The seal skin is unique to every selkie so it can't be replaced.
They will always choose the ocean if it came between it and love. But Yuu is a strange Selkie.
They know the tale of Ursilla, a human who loved a male selkie. This is part of why they believe they are destined to be with Azul so that history repeats itself.
Selkies lure their human partners into the sea and most tales say they never return. Yuu attempted with Azul not knowing he was a mer. Very embarrassing.

okay but imagine the Ministry of Magic discovering an obscurus and they really want to lock them up because obscurus are incredibly dangerous beings but thing is, is that the reader is super fucking chill aside from their inferiority complex and near crippling depression and learned how to control their power.
still, they try to hold a trial in the hopes of painting this college-aged kid into some sort of evil mastermind to at least lock them up until Dumbledore unsurprisingly steps in to defend the reader because having an obscurus within the Order of the Phoenix would basically mean it was game over of the Death Eaters that were trying to bring back the Dark Lord and all that by regretfully revealing the reader’s letter to Hogwarts was never delivered and that must’ve been the major factor into becoming an obscurus. but to punish them for something they haven’t done? the big man wouldn’t have it. instead Dumbledore asks to make things right by suggesting (s)he come to Hogwarts and take up a caretaker position or something and receive private lessons during the weekends and summers.
the teachers are hesitant to accept the reader until the yandere mentality sets in. i mean, how can you hate someone that has been caught nearly a dozen times playing go-fish with the house elves? swiftly does Mcgonagall begin to fuss over the reader as if (s)he was their own child. and eases the students anxiety. but the parents aren’t having it. one of them goes as far to start a petition to have the reader removed from the school but Dumbledore is quick to shut it down. still, somehow the reader is able to get ahold of a paper copy of the petition and is devastated when (s)he sees that Molly Weasley signed it because (s)he’s grown fond of the Weasley kids. whatever progress they’ve made in pulling the reader out of their shell is lost and (s)he makes an effort to avoid the kids who share a name with the parents on the list even though is devastates many of them.
the summer between Harry’s first and second year is when Molly approaches the reader in one of the shops, who’s renting a room in Diagon Alley for the break, because the twins just won’t shut up about the entire situation. and Molly instantly regrets ever signing that petition. this isn’t a monster. she realizes. this is a child. and her motherly instincts are put in overdrive after noticing the reader’s sleep deprived state of somewhat dirty jeans.
maybe Narcissa or Bellatrix au where she wasn’t imprisoned is in the same shop. kind of eavesdropping after Draco nervously whispered that, that was the obscurus. and they pass by as they leave the shop but make sure to stop long enough to make a snide comment about ‘making friends with the wrong sort’ or something like that.
the reader spends the next summer being caught in a tug-of-war between the two families.
I can’t tell you how much I absolutely love this idea!!!
But I think Dumbledore would most likely originally involve himself and become invested in Obscurus!Reader because he’d be reminded of his own sister. Given that she was an Obscurial and what all she had to suffer with, as well as her death which was caused by her brothers and Grindelwald. I could see Albus inserting himself and taking in the Reader to redeem himself in his mind with the guilt of his sister. I mean sure it’ll also come in handy having an Obscurial as part of the Order, after some training and care they’ll get to a point where they won’t nearly be as much of an uncontrollable force that needs to be under constant supervision.
I can’t help but imagine that the Reader grew up in some kind of toxic environment, physical or physiological. And that kinda fed into their Obscurus as well as not getting their Hogwarts letter. But the moment the Reader could they got themself out of whatever unhealthy situation and took time for themself to heal and work with what they had become in regards to the Obscurial. They’d do little bouts of magic here and there when they could and no one was around in case something went awry. But eventually they’re able to keep themself under wraps for the most part but that doesn’t mean they have complete control over themself or their Obscurus.
I also really like the idea that the Reader is completely in the dark about about being a witch or wizard. Like, they’re a muggle who has no idea about magic and the first time they did something magical they thought they were a freak or an abomination, telling not a soul about it and repressing themselves. Like, maybe they even grew up in a pretty average family, they were loved and cared for by the people around them but their own self hatred and loathing for being able to do things that others couldn’t and wasn’t the overall norm whatsoever is what the Obscurus forming within them feeds off of. The Reader really is their worst enemy in this situation. They still comes off pretty calm and collected but their inner turmoil is to another level. So after everything with the Ministry and Albus taking them in, the Reader will have to come to terms with who and what they are (both as witch/wizard and an Obscurus) and that being able to do magic is perfectly normal in the new environment they’re fining themself in.
Regarding the teachers, they all are extremely apprehensive about bringing an Obscurial to the school and especially having them be around the students as a whole. Minerva makes it very clear that she isn’t so sure about this situation but she’ll go with it given how invested Albus is and the conviction in his voice when he speaks about the Reader and helping them. The other teachers are still very much on edge, Snape quipping up every so often with his own input and doesn’t help. But it’s Hagrid who is the most optimistic and welcoming of the idea, which has all the other teachers questioning if he actually understands the severity of the situation and the consequences of things if anything bad happens. But nothing any of the other staff have to say changes Hagrid’s attitude about it. If Dumbledore is adamant about this Obscurus coming to Hogwarts and taking part in what goes on then Hagrid will be the first to welcome and accept them.
Before the Reader gets to Hogwarts, I could see Albus giving them their own little place on the grounds to live, similar to Hagrid. And both Albus and Hagrid (maybe some of the other teachers, ie. Minerva, Flitwick, Sprout, Trelawney etc) doing their best to make it look and feel like a home for the Reader so during their stay it won’t feel like just some shed they’re forced to live in. Albus will incorporate things he knows they like or are particularly fond of. If they like plants then he’ll have Sprout and Hagrid help make them their own little garden. If they love to read he’ll use magic to give them their own library. If they love to bake or cook then he’ll magically connect their home to the kitchens where they can use whatever they want or need, not to mention the house elves can help them too.
Once the Reader does get to Hogwarts they’ll be assigned to help out Hagrid for the most part. But Albus wants the teachers to come around to the Reader, to see what he sees in them, to get to know them better, so he’ll have the Reader help the respective teachers with some tasks here and there. Whether it’s cleaning out cauldrons for Severus, helping Sprout tend to her nursery, assessing the quidditch field and all the equipment to peak condition for game play with Hooch, or aiding Madame Pomphrey wherever she needed it. And it doesn’t take too long for most of the teachers to come around to the Reader and grow attached to them and their company.
Minerva was surely the first to come around and it only took a few days before she was already fretting over the Reader like a worried mother hen. She would even go as far as to request that the Reader help out the most in her class, even if all they ended up doing was just sitting and being there that would be more than enough for her. She just wants them close given how much she worries about them and what they’re up to or how the students may be treating them when they’re not in her sight.
Also, I could see the Weasley twins being the very first people to interact with the Reader, much to Percy’s anxiety. And boy, are the twins absolutely taken with the Reader. Fred and George completely disregard the whole Obscurus thing, as far as they’re concerned the Reader is just the Reader. Nothing more, nothing less. And if anyone talks bad about the Reader, or tries to do anything to them, then the twins will have a new target for their pranks. And said pranks may end up becoming less fun and more aggressive. But not only do the twins become attached to the Reader but so do Harry and Hermione. Ron is more cautious when it comes to getting close to the Reader when compared to Harry and Hermione. All Harry needs to know is that Dumbledore and Hagrid talk so highly and affectionately about the Reader for him to be more than willing to protect them with his life. Not to mention if the Reader were to take up an older sibling role for him then Harry would be hooked. It’s safe to say that that’s exactly what the Reader will eventually become to a lot of the other students at Hogwarts.
Regarding the petition, oh Merlin I have so many different ideas about this. I could see Lucius being the one to start up the petition himself or get it started by someone else, either way he has a part in it and his name is the first one signed. The petition was probably started before the school year began, before anyone knew who the Reader was and it most likely stemmed from a rumor that was being spread amongst the Ministry. I could imagine the Ministry would want to keep the news of an Obscurial pretty tight lipped, especially given that they weren’t able to lock up them up, so hence the rumors spreading about. Out of fear and worry for her own children, Molly doesn’t think twice about signing the petition but Arthur isn’t too quick to do so. Hell, he might not have signed it at all thinking that if Albus was so willing to take in and have an Obscurial at the school whatsoever then it mustn’t nearly be as horrendous as people are making it out to be. But Molly doesn’t want to take any chances, not when her babies are involved which is more than understandable.
But I like to think that Molly meets the Reader before they themself ever knew of any petition, let alone saw it with their own eyes. Like, I imagine the twins excited writing to Molly and Arthur that there was an Obscurus at school, how cool and incredible they were, and that the twins made friends with them. Overall just Fred and George happily gushing about their new friend to their parents and even sending pictures of them with the Reader along with the letters. Once Molly receives their letters, reads about how much her children have grown so very fond of this person and then seeing that the person she had feared and worried so much about, that she signed a petition to get rid of them, was just a few years older then her own children making them just a child themself. She would be so overcome with guilt and regret. Even though she knew she was doing the right thing deep in her heart, Molly couldn’t help but feel utterly terrible. So overwhelmed and riddled with guilt for what she’d taken part in against someone who was just a child themself and was merely dealt the cards they were dealt, she couldn’t contain herself anymore and would just sob. She’d never forgive herself for her actions, even if they were out of the goodness of her heart and for her children.
It doesn’t help that when the kids come home for summer break they all talk so fondly of the Reader. Even Percy has taken a liking to them. And when Harry comes around he can’t help but talk about them too, even Hermione mentions them in her letters. It all just further shows how wrong Molly had been and makes her feel all the worse. She would bring up inviting the Reader to spend the next years holiday break with them as a family and the overjoyed reactions her children and Harry give her is just too much. It’s so apparent how much the Reader has come to mean so much to all the kids and Molly can’t help but think she could have ruined it all with signing that godforsaken petition.
I imagine that when the Reader does come across the petition it’s some time after they spend Christmas with the Weasley’s. So, they’ve already met Molly and had been warmly welcomed to the family with open arms. So, seeing Molly Weasley’s name on a petition to get rid of the Reader was heart wrenching to say the least. But it wasn’t just Molly’s name they saw, there were also some of the Hogwarts teacher’s names too, along with the familiar surnames of other students they’ve grown close to. The whole thing is just utterly heart wrenching to the Reader.
Sure, the petition was from the early beginnings of their first year being a part of Hogwarts before they even got there and Albus shut it down real quick. But that doesn’t take anything away from this new revelation. Even if a number of the people who signed the petition had changed their minds after meeting/interacting with the Reader themselves or from hearing how their children talked about the Reader so fondly and adoringly, that didn’t take the hurt away from any of it.
I could even see Draco having been the one to give a copy of the petition to the Reader, especially if his father was the one who started it. Whether it was out of malice and he just wanted to hurt the Reader, or it was because he had seen the Weasley family out and about with the Reader during the holidays and Molly Weasley being especially attentive towards them knowing damn well she signed a petition to get rid of them. Maybe Draco’s own attachment to the Reader was kicking in and he was absolutely appalled at witnessing Molly Weasley pretend to be so motherly with the Reader when she herself had taken action against them. He needed the Reader to know that Molly wasn’t what she seemed to be.
Either way, this new development with the petition would really cause the Reader to close themself off and shut down. They’d start by asking for a few days off before talking to Albus about the whole thing and how they didn’t feel like they should be at Hogwarts at all anymore. No matter how much Albus would try to talk them out of it, he would allow them to take some time off and go back to the Leaky Cauldron where they were staying before, or he’d even go as far as to have another home made for them so they could have their own place that wasn’t on the school grounds where they could think things through and just be.
At first, the kids and other teachers just think that the Reader is taking few days off like they said but then a few days turn into a few weeks and then a month, now everyone is more than concerned. The teachers would be much more in the loop then the students would be but that doesn’t mean that it makes the teachers feel any better with what they’ve been made aware of. Meanwhile, the twins, Harry, Hermione and Ron are on the case. They immediately go to the Reader’s little place on school grounds to see if they’re there and to talk to them but the place is empty. Their stuff is still there but they’re nowhere to be found. They all immediately run to Hagrid after that to ask him about what he knows and he’s a crying, snotty mess that just breaks down and tells them all about the petition and that the Reader left, feeling that Hogwarts wasn’t really their home after all.
I like to imagine that the Hogwarts castle just isn’t the same after the Reader leaves. Even the students who didn’t interact with them would feel the empty and melancholic atmosphere that seemed to fill the castle more than ever before. All the kids who were close to the Reader and some of the staff members would reach out to the Reader through letters but getting nothing in response. Everyone just hopes and waits for the Reader to walk through the doors of the Great Hall again or seeing them passing in the corridors like they were so used to. But that never happens and the year eventually comes to an end. Maybe there will be a new petition in the making though but this times it’s to bring the Reader back to Hogwarts and it gets even more signatures then the last one.
(Also, I really want to write a letter from yan!Molly Weasley to Obscurus!Reader after they left due to the petition and Molly just apologizing to them and trying to get them to go back to the school or at least getting the to answer the letters they’ve gotten from the people desperately worried about them.)

Can we hear more about Cryptid!Four? he's so interesting to me <3 how does he interact with the rest of the chain?
CRYPTID FOUR CRYPTID FOUR!!!
Okay, full disclosure, you’ve asked me about the Link that I know the least about. I’m still figuring out their origin story and even what to call them. BUT. I can tell you about their interactions with the rest of the Chain!
I’ll explain it first by doing what I always do and linking it back to Sky. When I first had the idea of the Cryptid au, I toiled with whether or not Four would have to hide that they could split. After all, everyone is some kind of strange, surely they wouldn’t have any reason to believe that they would be thought less of.
But I mentioned before that Sky has no idea how to talk about himself before he fused. With two separate consciousnesses merged into one, it’s very confusing when he thinks too much about his past. So when he’ll try to tell stories from his adventure, he’ll mess up the pronouns or have to restart a million times. “So then I- well, I mean he- well. Okay. No. We. Wait, but it was just him, but I…”
I thought that maybe the first time he’d slip up like this in front of the rest of the Chain, the others might look at him a little funny. Like. Is this guy okay? What’s going on? But Four… Four sees how Sky talks about himself and recognizes it. They understand feeling so fractured and scattered. And maybe they interpret the others’ concern as judgement. And they decide to hide that part of themself for as long as they possibly can.
(The first person that they split in front of is Sky. And it’s not even intentional, but that’s plot stuff that I’ll get into later haha!)
Because they relate to Sky so much, and because of certain events that will happen in the future (mostly involving Time), they become almost protective over him. They’re always the first to notice when Sky’s acting off and he’s not afraid to tell the others to back off.
Four is FASCINATED by Wars oh my god. Time usually wields the sword and Warriors likes to hang out around Sky, but Four is always welcome company to the sword spirit. If Wars’ sword ever gets damaged, Four is right there to fix it. Four always bombards Wars with questions, and makes sure that his sword is always taken care of. Wars… tolerates Four. Usually he’d like to be left alone, but Four means well and he knows that.
Four respects Time (especially after the God reveal), but is wary. Time makes Sky uncomfortable and even if they don’t understand it, they know that it takes a lot to get Sky to that point. They’re civil with the Old Man, but they never make an effort to initiate an interaction.
Other than that, they’re very reserved. They tend to keep everyone at arm’s length, an enigma, even among the Cryptids. Their company is good enough for themself (haha) so while they’re never mean to the others, they don’t prioritize socializing with them. Except Wars and Sky for the most part haha!
Like I said, Four is every much still a work in progress! I hope this was okay though haha!

So how do you think the companions would react to a Tav with a high sex drive?
thank you for the ask and sorry for the delay 🫡😭 I'm basing this off my current tav Penelope who does have one, especially in act 1 and 2
@spacebarbarianweird + @tragedybunny
gale would think it's amusing at first with little comments about wanting to let loose and be underneath someone. he doesn't offer a 'helping' hand however, wanting to focus on the task at hand with the tadpole and his orb. it isn't until he's confronted with his mortality that he starts consider what it would mean for one night of escape with tav. it's been a little while with him since he's put in the effort for sex, but aiming to please is something gale never put off and would try his best to match his partner's fervor.
wyll wouldn't give in to the temptations as much as he wants to, but he wouldn't be above teasing them endlessly with his words, a gentle hand on their waist, kissing their palms while he looks at them as if they were his sun, moon, and stars, until tav gets too flustered and has to go take care of themself. he does think about them in his own bedroll when he does have his own urges and the dirty fantasies they shared earlier, his hand becoming his best friend in the coming weeks.
lae'zel is up for the challenge, wanting to see how much she can endure and push herself for pleasure. she's a bit embarrassed at first that she doesn't last as long as first when tav asks for another round, wondering where this stamina comes from and also how they can use it on the battlefield.
shadowheart at first judges tav silently from her tent, watching tav hop from companion to companion. while she doesn't join in (shar forbids this), she does like being a listening ear for the gossip, wanting to know who is the best lay in the camp and why is it a tie between lae'zel and astarion. if she doesn't become a dark justiciar, she will want to join tav in their sexcapades, wanting to let go just for a moment and tav being the perfect escape.
karlach would be so jealous of tav at first that they are able to express and act on their inhibitions with whoever they wish. it does surprise her a little bit when tav confesses their attraction to her since she can't do anything without hurting them, but is pleasantly surprised to see tav put in an effort by whispering all the things they want to do to her, writing them down too and slipping them into her tent or in clive's lap for her to find later. when karlach can touch, they spend the first week fucking on every surface they can and anywhere karlach wants since they have ten years to catch up on. it becomes more passionate as she realizes she doesn't have much time left, with longer sessions focusing more on their intimacy.
astarion catches on to tav having a high sex drive pretty quickly and makes his seduction plan super easy. he doesn't expect tav to be so open with their desires and how their foreplay doesn't start before the actual act of sex, complimenting his clothes and armor, the way he fought during a squirmish, and his taste in wine chosen at the end of the day. during sex, he can match their enthusiasm with practiced showmanship. when he reveals his true feelings to tav, it is an adjustment, but they find new ways to be intimate by reading erotic stories and poetry, making out, and attempting tantric sex without penetration or getting naked until he is comfortable. ascended!astarion would use this to his advantage, promising many nights to years of pleasure for his consort. spawn!astarion would appreciate the intimacy they did before, and would want to explore more.
halsin has seen it all and is more than welcome to anything tav can throw at him. he can keep up with tav as well, finally letting his years of guilt fall away as he focuses on them. he lets tav lead most of the time. if tav needs him between their thighs 24/7, he would find a way to make it happen, the kisses while making them wait intoxicating and leaving tav's lips tingling. he may make a comment on their taste being the sweetest nectar he's ever tasted.
minthara would use this to her advantage, especially if she can dom tav, to see how she can use them between the sheets and on the battlefield like lae'zel. she would be into longer sessions of just edging and making tav beg for release, putting their mouth to work between her thighs as she dictates all the things she will do once they take control of the elder brain and bring honor to the world as tav worships her body with everything in them.

Whumptober Day 17 Dehumanization; pet whump. Enjoy.
You're the lump in my throat and the knot in my chest / collar / touch aversion / "Leave me alone"
Whumper lay comfortably on the couch, strolling through their phone with one hand. The other hand held the throat of their pet, not to choke or punish, but to remind.
Whumper wanted to feel every breath Whumpee took, every swallow. They wanted the control to be able to stop everything in an instant.
Whumpee kept their eyes trained straight ahead, not looking at anything in particular. They sat quietly on the floor, feeling the hand move nonchalantly around their throat. This was a normal occurrence, as long as they did nothing but behave, the hand wouldn't hurt them.
Whumpee knew they shouldn't have any thoughts besides obeying their master. But something, a question had been on their mind for a few day now, but did they have the right to ask?
Whumpee cleared their throat, but did they dare ask for something from Whumper.
"Mas-master", they whispered.
Whumper's hand gripped gently.
Whumpee shook nervously.
"You may speak, my hand will remain on your throat", Whumper turned their full attention to Whumpee, "I like the way your voice feels."
Whumpee nodded and took a breath, "I'm sorry master, I apologize for asking, but what does a collar symbolize."
"It normally symbolizes ownership between a master and their pet or slave depending on what subject you are looking into", Whumper trailed their finger up and down Whumpee's throat, "why are you asking?"
"A few days ago when Master Collin was here, I heard you both talking about collars, and how they just gave their pet one finally", Whumpee paused.
"Yes, Collin said they felt their pet had earned it finally", Whumper grinned, "it was a well earned gift."
Whumpee looked down sadly, "oh"
"Is there a reason you are so curious?", Whumper released their grip, "turn to face me."
Whumpee turned to kneel in front of Whumper, they kept their eyes to the floor.
"Well?", Whumper sat up, "is there?"
"I apologize master, but is there a way I can earn a right to wear a collar", Whumpee bowed to kiss Whumper's feet, "may I earn that gift?"
"Do you think you've earned that gift?", Whumper reached for Whumpee's throat again.
"N-no master, I just hoped to be able to earn it", Whumpee whimpered, "I hoped to learn what I could do to please you. So you would allow me to wear one."
"Hmm", Whumper stood, "wait here."
Whumpee waited while Whumper went to a different room. They could hear them rummaging through some bags.
'Now you did it, you've upset them. Now instead of resting, they have to punish you. You couldn't just lose the thought and be obedient', they yelled at themself.
Whumper came back a few minutes later carrying something.
Whumpee bowed. "Master please forgive me, I didn't mean to make you upset. Please forgive me, I will take any punishment happily."
"Shh, you're not in trouble. Actually", Whumper revealed what they were carrying, "I purchased this a few days ago when Collin bought theirs, I was holding onto it for the right time, I guess this works."
Whumpee looked at the item, then realized what it was.
"I-is that a collar Master?", Whumpee smiled excitedly.
Whumper walked back over to the couch and sat down. They smiled at Whumpee, "it is, I think you've put up enough with me lately. I believe you earned this."
"I-I have master, you mean it?", Whumpee looked at it excitedly, "thankyou master, so much."
"You're welcome", Whumper grinned and began to put it around Whumpee's neck.
Whumpee stretched their chin up to help Whumper see. They heard a clinking sound.
When it was in place Whumpee reached up and felt their gift, they noticed something metal hanging from it. They looked up in confusion.
"It's a name tag", Whumper reached for it, "most collars have one, it has your name, my name, and my phone number in case you get lost."
Whumpee listened intently.
"Now remember pet, this gift comes with rules, if those are not followed I may have to take it away until you earn it again", Whumper smiled, "am I clear."
"Yes master very clear", Whumpee grinned as they felt their collar again.
Whumper reached for Whumpee's throat, "and it doesn't take the place of my hand holding your throat, I will do this whenever I want, am I clear?"
"Yes Master, I am your pet, you own my body", Whumpee bowed their eyes.
"Good pet", Whumper patted Whumpee's head, "enjoy your new gift."
Whumper sat back as Whumpee reached up and felt the collar again.
Whumpee bowed to the floor again, and kissed Whumper's feet, "thankyou master."
Taglist. As always please let me know if you want to be added or taken off of the list. It's not a problem at all. @villainsandheroes @the-beasts-have-arrived @sacredwrath @porschethemermaid @monarchthefirst @generic-whumperz @bloodyandfrightened

Brozone & Acquaintances: Fame and Blunders (The Rise And Fall, The Epic Highs And Lows Of Trolltwt) Part Six
split into a new post bc the last one (parts 1-5, crossposted on ao3 (including intermission)) got too long. as always, cowritten by the evil genius @squirrelpatties
cloud guy: infamous leaktwt contributor, with a specific fixation on branch (and to a lesser extent anyone close to branch, but branch is his #1). he got his hands on several embarrassing baby photos of branch, which even jd was concerned about, because "we never published those ones, they were just for grandmas wallet". some of his most well known leaks were "barb was admitted to rehab" "creek got a BBL" and "smidge had a miscarriage" (the latter overshadowing the other two by a significant margin)
sky toronto: egotistical millionaire who bought twitter and changed the logo into a tie. whenever creek posts a new off-the-wall conspiracy theory to his impressionable audience, sky replies that hes "Looking into this..." (theyre oomfs). many of his experimental party supplies have killed a disgusting amount of animal test subjects but that doesnt mean hes not willing to test on trolls. branch almost dies when hes hit by someones neuro-mind-link party popper.
smidge vs barbtwt: several influential barbtwt members with a tie to a certain infamous leaker who shall not be named (they paid him. he didnt need the money he just likes messing with people) get their hands on smidges medical records, initially to prove shes trans (shes not) but they instead learn about her miscarriage. instead of backing off, showing her sympathy and feeling guilty about this disgusting breach of privacy, they coordinate to make this public knowledge the next time smidges name trends. twitter is divided into "smidgetwt supporting her wholeheartedly through this horrible situation" "smidge antis who think 'she had it coming'" and "barbtwt happy that smidge is suffering". this sparks a debate on the ethics of trolls smoking while with eggs, with pro-egg-smokers saying its their body their choice and anti-egg-smokers saying "are you out of your damn mind". this is how smidge reveals she is simultaneously pro-egg-smoking and pro-life. its a bloodbath. she drops off the face of the internet never to be seen again........ unless 🤔
cloud guy (part 2): after years of providing the public service of "making branchs life miserable", cloud guys twitter account (and IP) is sadly permabanned when poppy demands sky toronto take action the third time branch is doxxed. sky toronto originally didnt care but after a solid week of her pestering him, he gave up, but only because he forgot to take "no doxxing" out of troll twitters TOS, and the backlash would be worse than hes willing to deal with right now. sleep well, soldier 🫡.
dante vs poppy: dante is branchs stalker. routinely stakes out by branchs pod to take photos of him for his shrine. its not a sex thing but whatever it is is way weirder than a sex thing. branch has moved pods 3 times but dante always manages to find him. perhaps he has friends in high places? regardless of the "how", the "what" is poppy wants him fucking Gonezo. unfortunately dante, as an ambassador for classical trolls, is not under poppys jurisdiction of pop trolls. she decides the only way to deal with the "rando stalking my partner" situation is to catch him with one of branchs traps. except, dante can fly, so rope traps arent effective and poppy needs to get creative and potentially very violent. she asks branch if he still has those spikes she begged him to take down. he does but he repurposed them as hat racks. now he needs to find somewhere else to put his hats!
gus tumbleweed: lowtiergod-esque fighting game streamer whos known for yelling and screaming at his opponents when he loses. he goes into long, drawn out, nonsensical similes and metaphors to describe how much he wants the player who beat him to kill themself or otherwise die painfully
tiny (in game chat): git rekt f4gg0t gus (on mic): someone outta hog tie ya and hang ya up in the middle o town like a pinata caught sleezin with the mayors daughter tiny (in game chat): bro
is invited to take part in a tournament for charity during pride month. when beaten by a gay guy he regresses to violently homophobic hatespeach. youd think thisd be a career ender but its amazing what "pretending to be attracted to your fellow straight male friends" can fix! he makes a halfhearted comment about thinking one of his streamer friends is handsome and/or has a nice ass and everything is back to normal, and he faces zero consequences for his actions.
holly darlin: fellow twitch streamer, although in different circles to gus tumbleweed. she is undefeated at chess but otherwise unremarkable, yet because shes a woman everyone hates her. after a year or two or constant hate she decides "fuck it" and commits to selling snake oil. the hell are they gonna do? call her a whore? shes already got every variation and misspelling caught in autofilter, buddy. she peddles for the same company that supplies the diet pills satin and chenille hype up on their podcast. its how she and satin meet. theyre lesbians now. it makes the hate holly gets SOOOOOO much worse but satins used to it so shes unaffected. chenille gets no say in the matter
synth: third and final twitch streamer (...so far). the gay guy who beat gus in a tournament for charity and was met with violent hatespeach. beforehand was one of the smaller creators in the tournament but afterward he blew up a lot more. he does a lot of charity streams, mostly for the benefit of disabled children, out of the goodness of his heart and NOT the glory like some OTHER trolls mentioned two paragraphs previous. hes just a good guy! also almost had a thing with branch when they were both confused about each others identities.
synth: today marks a year since i almost kissed a very attractive twunk in pop village and then found out he was a lesbian who thought i was a lesbian minuet: gay culture
broppy: theyre doing great! absolutely NO problems whatsoever! im sure it will last forever!

This might sound odd but while Jodio get's a lot of deserved flak why do a lot of Jojo fans seem to overlook Dragonna's sketchy deeds, such as helping his brother commit crimes?
jodio and dragona have a very understandable dynamic from what we’ve been shown so far. they’re both relatively chill people in a normal day-to-day-listening-to-dua-lipa situation and siblings, with dragona as the older sibling taking on a more responsible leadership position while jodio as the younger brother being more impulsive and somewhat… well, naive would be a harsh word, but he has a lot of trouble with the consequences of his actions and he actually fell for the “cops have to tell you if they’re working undercover” trick. it’s a classic dynamic that works well in a lot of stories because the characters balance each other out this way.
but dragona does do a lot of crime shit. arguably, as the older sibling, they’re even more guilty than jodio since eldest children are expected to know what they’re doing and set a good example for the rest of their family, and in the most recent chapter, we see them completely misread a situation in a way that causes them to fall victim to the enemy stand user’s trap. they’re not as different as some people might think.
imho, there’s two main culprits at play here:
number one is the fact that we haven’t gotten a lot of dragona themself’s perspective on their motivations. we’ve seen them in business mode, working through problems and trying to corral paco and usagi, but it hasn’t been revealed to us why exactly they got into organized crime and how they feel about this lifestyle. the first thing that jodio does is let us know that he’s in it for the money and has very few problems with any of this as long as he doesn’t get caught and nobody he cares about gets hurt. additionally, we’ve been shown parts of his day where he sells drugs to his classmates and has to dodge the police. none of what dragona usually does when they’re not on diamond heists has really been shown, so when they’re not really seen committing crimes outside of a group, i think it can be easy for people to forget that they do that by themself as well as when others are watching.
number two is fandom. jodio and dragona have a relationship where you can draw a lot of parallels between giorno and bruno, and the fandom seems to have gone in a similar direction with them. there’s a lot of archetypes that fans tend to pigeonhole characters into even when it does a disservice to the many complexities they may have in their writing (not saying that all fans do this, but it is a pattern that repeats itself enough to be worth examining) such as the disaster gremlin, the team mom, the uwu soft baby, etc. bruno’s fan characterization ended up getting shoved into the team mom archetype pretty hard, and i think we’re seeing something similar play out with dragona. they’re both the de facto leaders of their team with somewhat tough but fair attitudes who really care about their team members, so having them take on a somewhat parental role is far from unreasonable, exaggerating that role for comedy is good humor, and running with it until you get a soccer mom who packed snacks for the local organized crime members is pretty much an unavoidable side effect at this point.

Dick Jokes
Gn reader
Dabi's curiosity outweighed his pride, thus he knocked impatiently on the door to y/n's room. 'It's open!' Dabi taking that as his invitation to enter. A smug grin on their face, having taunted him that the sex jokes would go over his head. And now here he was. They didn't expect him to cower, tail between his legs. Soaking in the rare vulnerability, as it was the ghost of Touya that plopped down on their bed, not the headstrong Dabi.
The man shoving the book into their hands, having dog-eared the pages that confused him the most. Y/n had to hide their slight shock at the annotations that illustrated his attempts to piece together the context. 'Didn't think you'd take it that seriously.'
'Well, I did. Now, can you pretty please, with a cherry on top explain it to me.' The statement drier than over-baked cornbread, but that was the closest Dabi would get to begging, outside of the bedroom. Y/n took the book from Dabi’s hands, flicking through it. His writing in the margins akin to graffiti font. 'Do you know what iambic pentameter is?' Hoping Dabi didn't take it as an insult to his intelligence. 'Iambic what?' His eyes crossing in confusion.
'Did you try and read it out loud?' Y/n racking their brain as to how to explain the concept. 'Yea, but it just sounded like a heart-oh.' Giving him the technical definition of the terms themself. 'Why did Hamlet have to clarify where he's putting his head?' Thinking it was quite obvious, unless Ophelia was the one with her head in the gutter. 'Cause to lie with meant having sex with someone.'
'And then the whole iambic pentameter thing with the word country, cunt-try.' Dabi played with the rips in his jeans to keep from covering his face with his hands. He hadn't blushed in so long, he'd forgotten the feeling. Not that it'd show over the patchwork skin stapled to his face. 'And because the actual words are referring to political matters, he can simply brush it off?'
'Yes and no. Nothing was slang for women's private areas.' Blowing air through his nose at the answer. 'Why does he insist on talking in code?' Running into a similar frustration that high schoolers do when reading the bard's words. 'Mean people do it all the time with innuendos and euphemisms.' Dabi replied with a simple 'huh,' not wanting to reveal that he couldn't recognize when people used them and would most times respond literally.
'Yea. But if you run into any more stuff, feel free to stop on by.' The book had no annotations past a certain point. Dabi knocked on the door as he left, silently saying he would. Appreciating that they unlike the rest of the league didn't take the opportunity to make fun of him.

hello i am here to remind you that lan wangji did not wait for wei wuxian for 13/16 years because wei wuxian died. (now with edits!)
people don't come back from death! what happened to wei wuxian was the first time it had ever happened and probably the only time i would happen (at least in a long time) because the riutal can only be done under certain conditions, i.e. someone has to be willing to sacrifice themself, you have to call a spirit that is vicious enough etc. and most importantly, lan wangji had no idea about any of it being a possibility! [edit: only four people had used to ritual before mo xuanyu - so my point still stands i just forgot that detail - source: "only three or four examples [of using the sacrificial ritual] have been proven to be true" novel chapter 2]
lan wangji did not wait because waiting implies that he knew wei wuxian would come back, which he didn't because he died. he spent those 13/16 years mouring and taking care of lan sizhui, the only connection he still has with wei wuxian. he spent those years preparing to spend the rest of his life in mourning and wearing white mourning robes!
he played inquiry [edit: lan wangji does this in the donghua, consider that canon or fanon] to try to talk to wei wuxian but lan wangji's cultivation and skill with the qin language is so powerful that spirits he calls must answer him truthfully! so when he'd call for wei wuxian and get no answer: that was his proof that he had died. then he would ask other spirits if they knew what happened to wei wuxian, where he was, how he was etc. none of them knew anything about wei wuxian. [edit: spirits cannot lie to lwj when he uses inquiry (as seen in chapter 22: "Under his [lwj's] control, the spirit who came was unable to lie, and had definitely been answering the truth.") and lsz reveals that some people have the power to ensure spirits must answer in chapter 37: "the spirit that i summon will be able to avoid answering, but will not be able to lie. so, if it is willing to answer, then it will definitely speak the truth." this doesn't exactly mean that lwj has this skill but when speaking with jin ling, it says that lwj has mastered qin language in chapter 22: "As he mastered the language, without any hesitation, Lan WangJi confidently played a few limpid notes."]
because wei wuxian hasn't born to a sect, he didn't go through the rituals to make sure his spirit would reincarnate so when he died he turned into a spirit but because even his spirit was torn apart by ghosts and demons he was unable to do anything. [edit: i worded this weirdly - i was trying to say that the ritual prevented people from becoming ghosts and that wwx didn't have this ritual because he was the son of a servant and wasn't raised in a sect. this is mentioned in chapter 60: "disciples of famous clans, like Jiang FengMian and Yu ZiYuan, had been affected by their clan and their clan’s treasures since they were young. When they grew up, they’d receive countless soul-calming ceremonies so that there was only a miniscule chance of them becoming ferocious ghosts. But Wei WuXian was different. He was the son of a servant. He didn’t grow up in the Jiang Sect since birth, either. He didn’t have the chance to go through so many ceremonies. If after he really died with too much resentful energy and became a ferocious ghost to haunt them, it’d be quite a pain."] he spent those 13/16 years being fully unconscious and aware of what was happening but not having the power to do anything about it. he was in literal hell for 13/16 years! [edit: this you'll have to bare with me because i read it in a tweet and can no longer find it ;-; basically it stated what i said] so no spirits knew what happened to him and he couldn't answer to lan wangji's inquiry!
in conclusion, lan wangji did not wait!! [edit: it's still wrong to say that lwj waited for wwx even if i got stuff wrong lmao]

"As I told you so long ago my Perfect Soul, whatever path you take, whatever you turn into. I will always be by your side, human, beast, angel or even a demon like myself. In the end we are bound by our entwined souls, even as time coorode our souls and death feasts upon our flesh. We will always be toghether and that's a promise my Perfect Soul."
[Anyone want some Non-Human Milo's? Then I have just the thing for you, we have a Hellhound, a DemonPrince and an 'Angel' to choose from! More Information about them like always down below and also some more comments from Makura]
Tumblr media
Hellhound!Milo
- He has two hounds that are almost always bound to his own collar, their names are Clock & Burger (they are highly protective of Milo and his Partner)
- Leads a large pack of Hellhound who obey his every word, they sometimes act a lot like a Hivemind
- Milo can connect himself to a chosen hellhound and see through their eyes and hear what they hear. He uses this to be by his Partner when he has to (reluctantly) do his job
- If he likes a person enough he might allow them to name a hound (he named most of them though)
- Can Spit molten lava out of his mouth, thanks to this his mouth & teeth are immune to hot tempratures
- His general sense of smell & hearing has imrpoved immensily (also his puppy eye game just leveld to the max)
- Loves to get ear scritches, his tail will wag like crazy
- His job is to hunt down Souls who are trying to escape from the 4th layer of hell (Gluttony's Domain) If he deems the Soul an easy catch he unclips Clock's or Burger's leash and lets them hunt it down
["A hound trained to guard, realized soon that one head wasn't enough anymore. So he stitched two more heads onto his own. A false Cerberus with an army that obeys his commands and share his thirst for blood. That's my Perfect Beastly Soul."]
Tumblr media
Demon Prince!Milo
- His transformation was the most painfull out of the three paths, after his body finished his transformation he passed out for a week. He also gained a very hight pain tolerance thanks to it
- His Demonic Beast form is in the same family as the Tatzelwurm & Seropard (Snake, Cat hybrid creatures)
- Will gladly fly around with his partner and even do small flying tricks to impress them since he's super agile in the air (he also does mating dances to impress his partner, like some of the tropical birds)
- Thanks to his feet being replaced with cat paws it's impossible to hear him walk unless he wants to be heard
- Is still learning how to controll his magical powers
- Milo can freely change his size when in his Demonic Beast form, so it's not uncommon to see a smaller Beast!Milo resting in his Partners lap
- He can also shapeshift into the animal that represents him, in this case it would be a Cat
- He has a strong Venom that paralyzes whoever he bites (if enough venom is injected it causes permanent paralyzation)
[A cat with the snakes tongue, oh how fitting it is for you to be consumed by it at last. Only for you to turn the table once again and be reborn as something better. A beast hidden in a Princes body, you truely are my Perfect Deceptive Soul]
Tumblr media
'Angel'!Milo
- He has a highly intelgent bunny named "Tazer who turns into his Electric Spear weapon (Tazer is also acts as his emotinal support animal, after a few demons tried to eat him alive)
- He can change the Brightness and color of his halo, he can even set it up so it shows his emotions but he prefers to keep it it's regular mode
- When he's upset, angry or frustrated he does the lil' bunny thump
- Like owls, Milo dosent make any sound while flying
- His secret weapon are his ears which can rip apart to reveal something akin to a mouth or pincers. The spikes like teeth are strong enough to tear through bones like a hot knife through butter (when they are no longer needed they retract into the ears and seal themself up again)
- He has two small fangs which are freed during life threatining situation, these fangs contain high dosages of Black Mamba Venom
- The inside of his mouth is also fully black
- He has dug a few burrows out of instinct and gets embarassed when someone mentiones them (he has a main one where he stores important items & naps in even though he has his own privat room)
[A soul so pure yet tainted, strangely enough it isn't by our hands or that of those who had caused you pain. It simply is the dark corruption of love, the need for it so desprate that you would've done anything to just get a sliver of it. And after such a long time, you can finally can let go of it for you have found your way back home. To the place where you truely belong to, where the most powerfull creatures roaming around love you, my Perfect Pure Soul]

when all was said and done, Coronation ended up leaving kind of a bad taste in my mouth, so I didn't really plan to make anything further for blball and especially not for Coronation. that being said, I did have some stuff I kind of liked from before it broke bad, so on request here's a kind-of wip amnesty for one of them.
hands, 1.4k. gen. blaseball does not leave much time for leisure, especially for its captains. elip dean of the hades tigers makes do with what they can get.
“have you thought about picking up a hobby?”
elip’s attention is slow to leave their notebook, still scribbling postgame notes at one of the empty clubhouse tables. their head lifts, eventually, then tilts, one brow arching.
“something small,” mehdi elaborates. “to keep your hands busy.”
they maintain the look, brows furrowing in a challenge.
“you fidget, eli. a lot.” a pause, and mehdi lifts a palm defensively. “don’t look at me like that. i just think it would be good for you. you don’t need to be in captain mode all the time.”
elip ducks their ears as if admonished, but their eyes are smiling as they tip their head in another unspoken question.
“you’ve got options. just something to keep your hands busy - i wouldn’t be surprised if we’ve got needles and yarn stashed away around here somewhere, or beads. paper’s not hard to come by either.”
something clicks, then, and elip’s eyes go wide as they nod excitedly.
----
it starts like this: little paper animals, folded and strewn about the clubhouse. they are imperfect; the white underside of the bright squares peeks out around uneven folds on cranes with wings that won’t sit right, crabs with lopsided pincers, frogs with short bodies and too-long legs.
there have been a few casualties, too, accidentally swept to the floor and caught by wayward heels. elip trashes the crushed ones as readily as anyone else.
“oh– shit.” vela says, prying a bright yellow crane from her cleat one day. “cap, you gotta be more careful with these little guys.”
elip looks across the dugout, shrugs once. later, though, they see vela tuck the crane under a magnet in her locker, its crumpled wing carefully smoothed out. it fills them with a warmth they can’t name long after they’ve left the stadium.
----
they don’t limit themself to paper. as the season goes on, elip swaps craft paper for colored twine, carrying beads in a hidden pocket of their skirt. despite mehdi’s protests, they unwind the first three lumpy, uneven bracelets they make to save material - no use being wasteful.
the fourth, elip presents to stevie with little fanfare. they press it into his hand - a simple thing, pale blue twine, small green beads strung into the weave - as he comes in from striking out in the top of the ninth.
“for me?” he asks, even as elip is beginning to step away. they nod, only half-looking at him, but pause as the crow’s feet around his eyes crinkle with a smile.
“captain dean, you’re too kind.”
they notice it after that sometimes, the twine fastened snugly beneath his glove. it makes them smile no matter how far they’re down on the scoreboard.
----
in the off-season, they throw themself even further into mehdi’s suggestion, whenever training and their duties as captain allow for it. one day in late summer, amaya arrives at the clubhouse to elip, awaiting them expectantly, hands behind their back and eyes bright.
“morning to you too, elle.”
when elip finally reveals their gift on outstretched palms, amaya pauses, surprised, her eyes flickering from elip’s face to the painted clay pieces cradled in their hands.
“you made these?” elip answers their question with a firm nod and lifts the little clay armaments further, gesturing to amaya with both palms.
“seriously–? they’re so cute, are you sure?”
elip rolls their eyes exaggeratedly, and amaya finally acquiesces, taking the miniature silver-and-rose painted sword and shield from their palms with a kind of fond reverence that elip won’t soon forget.
----
by the beginning of season 2, more gifts have found their way into the hands of their team, each stripe carrying a token from their captain’s creative spree. elip abandons their more complex endeavors as the season begins and they turn their focus to the game.
they wonder, perhaps too much at first, about wandering zephyr - cursed and, they hope, making the best of it. he seems happy, no matter what color jersey he wears when they see clips of him online, and that’s what matters.
but pragmatism is the name of the game, especially as players start going up in flames: they stop letting themself worry if he misses Hades, unsure if a yes or a no would bring them more peace.
when they catch one of his interviews, scrounging for news on the rest of the league as much as they dare, they linger on it just enough to notice the beaded corner of an ash-gray keychain hanging out of his pocket. a lump rises in their throat, bittersweet.
----
you only keep what you had on you when you died, say the long-dead as they fill the hall of flame with space and color and depth.
there are ways of contacting the living, but not reliably.
we’re here for you, they offer, but you’ll have to get used to this. chances are you’ll be here a very long time.
leandra doesn’t mind. she’d heard the stories of the hall and still chosen it willingly the day she’d taken the field after mondegreen’s incineration. that does not make the physical adjustment any easier - the dampness, the way her fur clings to her flanks, the way her chest aches for breath that won’t come - but she’s made her peace with that, too.
what does ease her mind is the scrap of maroon cloth she discovers in her breast pocket, surfacing a memory - elip, closing it into her hands the morning of day 79. sewn into it is a sun, pale yellow and filled in with hasty stitches. the captain had not been clear what it was for, only that she was meant to have it. they’d been quite insistent.
leandra finds herself glad for it now, running her thumb gently over the stitchwork. it is, if nothing else, an affirmation of her decision. she cannot imagine elip in the dark of the trench.
----
they don’t talk, much. derrick is fine with that. the silence is comfortingly familiar, and elip seems equally unbothered by it. they commiserate over bad games, elip might ask a question or two about the hall or about derrick himself, but mostly they seem happy to simply have him around as quiet company while they read or study games or make things, sequestered for a handful of hours in elip’s hades flat or derrick’s tiny new apartment.
on one occasion - post-finals, when elip’s in charleston for vela’s memorial - they bring a bright sheaf of paper and seat themself on the floor with it, one cowled ear tipped toward where he sits on the couch. it’s a kind of quiet intensity he hasn’t seen from them much.
aren’t those good luck? he asks in sign, the quiet too comfortable to break with his voice - it's easier, sometimes, and elip's fluency in the common languages of the league makes up for his spotty hall-earned education. elip looks up between cranes, a brightly-colored row of them lined up in a semicircle on the rug. elip's ears tip back in confusion, and derrick repeats himself.
their expression doesn’t change; if anything, they grow more confused.
“those’re good luck, right?” he says, out loud this time, and the understanding that dawns over their face is quickly replaced by amusement, their shoulders shaking with quiet laughter.
lucky, they sign with a smile, middle finger lifting off their chin, and derrick realizes his mistake before their hand can even make it back to their face to demonstrate what he’d said instead.
“y’know– fuck it. maybe i do want to know if they taste good.” he grouses with a lopsided smile, leaning back to stare up at the ceiling. once elip’s laughter subsides, they nod, signing lucky again as they set the newest crane with its fellows.
“gonna need a lot more cranes than that to help either of us, i think.”
elip’s ear flicks dismissively beneath their tichel, and they pull another piece of paper from the sheaf to their careful creases anew.
derrick doesn’t remember falling asleep, but he wakes later to find his apartment empty. the only evidence of elip’s departure is a text comprised entirely of emojis - happy face, shushing face, waving hand, sleeping face - and a small navy blue crane they’ve left in his upturned palms. he smiles faintly, leans to set it on the side table and only jumps a little bit when something crunches softly behind him.
he starts upright, turning halfway, but there’s nothing behind him except the back of the couch and another crane. a third falls into his lap with his movement, and he connects the dots at last, pulls the collar of his sweater around to find that elip has in fact filled his hood with yet more palm-sized paper birds.
derrick doesn’t believe in luck, really – but he gathers the little pile of birds onto the old side table and carefully slides the blue one into his phone case for good measure.

youve gotten a few asks about billford before, and your plans for ford's relationship with bill in your fic, but im curious if you personally ship it yourself/*like* it. and, just for the hell of it, if you have any opinion on billdip too, since that one's even more controversial.
I'm gonna put most of this under a cut since it's not only long, but also long about two different topics, but the tl;dr is:
Yeah, I'm a fan of billford. I don't think it's canon, inevitable, or necessary to their dynamic, and I'm still on the fence about whether things will tilt toward the romantic in my fic or if it'll stay platonic, but I do enjoy the ship a lot because it has a lot of (obsessive, weird, unhealthy, angsty) elements that interest me to explore in ships. Billdip, on the other hand, does nothing for me. I don't care about how people ship imaginary characters in their fictional fandoms and I'm not gonna block anybody for liking it, so this isn't a moral stance, here—I just don't like it personally.
One of the things that intrigues me most about a ship is the idea of love that's gone so far it isn't even love anymore but punched out the other side into unhealthy obsession, and "I'll spend the next thirty years of my life hunting you to death" versus "What if I turn you into a gold statue and carry you around to stare at you a lot" sure fit right into "unhealthy obsession." On top of that, some of my favorite ship dynamics are:
the worshiper and the person they've picked to revere as their god, either metaphorically or literally—with bonus points if the person they've devoted themself to doesn't deserve that worship and maybe isn't even all that special, and the worship actually reveals more about the mind of the lover than it does about the (un)divine nature of the beloved
the mad scientist and the muse who gives them ideas and inspires their work (one of my all-time OTPs has a line where the mad scientist says to his ex "we were each the muse to the other"), with bonus points if they both get so caught up in "what can we do together? What dreams can we make reality—" that they plunge into full "so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should" territory—and bonus bonus points if they eventually come out of the haze of SCIENCE and one of them is horrified by what they've done... but maybe the other one isn't.
two people who are wildly compatible with each other (similar hobbies, tastes, worldviews! they fill in the gaps in each other's personalities! they each happen to be the other's type! they understand each other like no one else can! whatever, fill in the blank!), but for some reason one betrayed the other, they've tried to kill each other, and now things are vicious and bloody and painful and raw between them; but if they talk to each other and accidentally let their guards down for even a split second, all that history is still there, they still like the same stupid movies and share the same stupid inside jokes no one else will ever understand and have the same stupid complementary life dreams, they could have been good for each other, but there's no road back to where they were before the betrayal. Their chemistry is like two huge magnets strapped to land mines: the attraction is as powerful as ever but heaven help them both if they ever touch.
or, alternatively, two people that have all that chemistry, but are just really toxic and do bad things when they're together and enable all each other's worst tendencies, even if they don't necessarily do bad things to each other; and they've got to navigate the fact that they might adore each other so much but they are objectively worse people when they're together.
I like ships with inhuman things. As a writer I like waxing romantic about the inhuman things and trying to convince the reader that yes, this too is beautiful and lovable when seen through the eyes of a lover. I will make you take the stupidest love interest seriously for five minutes. I've romanticized a sticky pile of goo, I've romanticized a robot spider, I've romanticized the concept of being a disembodied voice, I've romanticized a pteranodon made out of lava, and I'll romanticize a cyclopic gold-plated corn chip too, don't test me. Who better to adore a sentient triangle than a scientist-artist who sees the beauty in precise angles?
Depending on the headcanons and/or AUs you're working with, you can get all of these pretty darn easily out of Billford.
I like writing Ford as the awed naive intellectual, hungry for knowledge, for the secrets of the universe, for more, who was utterly dazzled and starstruck by this divinity who tantalized him with esoteric secrets—and who's been furious at Bill for thirty years for betraying him, hurting him, threatening his home and everyone he loves, but underneath all that also furious at him for not being what he advertised when he could have been that; and Bill, meanwhile, playing it cool, far too comfortable playing the role of faux god, but privately, secretly distraught that his favorite "student"—the one who takes Bill's "teachings" and gets creative and inventive with them, the one who always wanted to know more, not just about the universe but about Bill personally—his favorite student no longer worships him, doesn't even respect him, doesn't even see him as an equal, but looks at him like he's the scum of the universe, and Bill won't even admit that it bothers him but it's killing him that nothing he does can get his favorite to so much as smile at him again.
That's the dynamic in my head when I write them. You could play it as purely professional, a god disappointed to lose a worshiper like a boss disappointed to lose his best employee or a celebrity disappointed to lose the president of his fan club; or you could play it like platonic friendship, maybe a QPR; or you could play it like a romance. I like the zest added when you toss romance into this already nasty mess of emotions. I like capping off all that heartache with, "—and if things had turned out differently, maybe I would have taken your hand and traveled with you to the ends of eternity, if only you weren't [such a brutal heartless backstabbing piece of shit]/[unable to forgive a few white lies and some light torture]."
Billdip, on the other hand, does absolutely nothing for me. Not even just for the age reason—that does squick me out, but even if I try to look at it like "okay pretend he's aged up" or "stick it in an AU where they're both dumb kids having dumb kid crushes" I just, see nothing there. I don't even see anything there platonically. Like, legitimately—for the fic I'm working on, I've been trying to figure out what kind of dynamic/interactions they'd have beyond just "Dipper scowls at Bill a lot" and even on that level I've been struggling to think of something compelling between them. I look back on the fact that for a good few years billdip was the ship in the fandom and I go, "why? where's the meat? what do they do for each other?"
I'm forced to imagine that the ship must have been based on some combination of "fandoms naturally want to ship the everyman main character with the charismatic fun villain," "a bunch of teens with crushes on Bill were using Dipper as their self-insert stand-in," and "people assumed Bill wasn't lying when he said Dipper impressed him and didn't start revising that opinion until we got to see firsthand that he uses lines like that on everybody." It feels really uncharitable of me to the shippers to assume that their OTP is founded entirely on statistically average fandom trends and character misinterpretations rather than, like, y'know, traits actually present in the characters, so I'm taking it on faith that there's probably more to it than that and I just don't see it because it just ain't my jam.
When I do try to speculate harder on "how would I get them to interact with each other in a compelling way, like, just in a platonic sense?" my brain starts going "well, dipper's a nerd who's into the paranormal, he wants to know about mysterious things? maybe he's fascinated with bill as a mysterious thing? and maybe... idk, why would bill give a hoot about dipper—maybe bill takes advantage of that fascination, tempts him with more information, maybe he's amused by Dipper's curiosity about weird things—?" and that's usually about the point where I go "this is just, the way Bill and Ford met. This is the watered-down junior version of Bill and Ford's first few weeks." In trying to figure out what the heck Bill and Dipper would even talk about I keep accidentally recreating a less interesting version of Bill and Ford's dynamic.
I want and need Bill and Dipper to have an interesting character dynamic in this fic so being unable to come up with something that personally compels me has been actively frustrating me lmfao, but it does serve to illustrate my main point here: man, billdip does nothing for me so hard that I can't even see them platonically interacting.
