Whumper turned caretaker when they meet a whumpee that they just can't bring themself to torment. One who would let the whole world burn to protect them. Who dotes on them when sick. Making sure they get their fluids, forcing them to take a shower when their fever won't break. Who acts as a shoulder to cry on, pinky promising they won't murder the bastard who dared to break their baby's heart. Watching shitty romcoms on a rainy day.

Or caretaker turned whumper. Burnt out from their job, feeling absolutely cynical towards the world. It being so easy to turn off their emotions. To not feel anything but numbness as whumper screams. They simply don’t care that whumper was someone they used to deeply care for. Easily washing the blood off their hands before leaving for the night.

The black and orange are supposed to be stars but look more like potion bubbles. Then the flowers are based off the bouquet she had on the dinner table. And the waves cause she likes the beach. The top is supposed to be a rainbow but I fucked it up. Eh, rainbow’s still a rainbow.

Caretaker dealing with a more angry, combative whumpee. One that has destructive outbursts full of screaming and hyperventilating. All they can see is red. Angry at what whumper did to them. To the point Caretaker has to learn how to physically restrain them from further hurting themselves. Especially when whumpee turn their rage towards caretaker. They let a few swings hit but ultimately have to stop them. Holding their arms away from their body. Repeatedly apologizing as they do so.

Later cradling whumpee in their lap when they've finally exhausted themselves. Head tucked in caretaker's shoulder, hands clutching at their shirt. Begging caretaker to not leave them. 'I'll never leave you, just don't want you hurting yourself or me,' holding them just as tightly. 'You have every right to be angry at them. Whumper should've never laid a hand on you. You didn't deserve any of it.' Their voice was barely higher than a whisper.

Like Mother, Like Son

Bakugou who's a full on mess when he realizes he likes Izuku. Turns out, he's exactly like his mom when it comes to romantic relationships. And poor Deku, he's confused because it seems as though a switch has been flipped. It's still the same insults but they seem more like backhanded compliments. He doesn't know if he can call what Bakugou yells at him insults anymore. Very mixed signals.

'Hey dipshit, I know you have two beautifully capable eye sockets! Now use them! I said 6'o clock, not 3!!'

'How many times have I told you to be more careful?! One of these days, you'll end up dead!'

'Oh c'mon, I know you're not that fucking weak!'

They all have an underlying tone of concern or care for him. An element that wasn't present even when they were kids. Before Kacchan gave Izuku that annoying nickname that only made him further want to prove himself. Izuku fully aware that Bakugou wouldn't give him an honest answer, instead went to Kirishima. If anyone knew why Kacchan was acting so weird, it'd be him.

‘Oh! You mean Katsuki’s big crush?’ Kirishima blurts out after letting Izuku ramble about his observations. ‘Yeah, he threatened to blow up my room if I ever said anything about it.’ Kirishima continued. Deku thought to himself, ‘that does sound like Kacchan.’ Quickly realizing that Bakugou admitted his crush to Kirishima by not refuting it. That his threat simply confirmed it.

'Why are you so out of it?' Bakugou barked after dealing with a week of Izuku stuck in limbo. 'What?'

'You've been sloppy. You don't even bother trying to dodge. You haven't been rambling about whoever it is' stupid quirk you're currently obsessed with. It's pissing me off, so what gives?'

'Do you like me? Like more than friends?'

'Shitty hair told you?! I swear when I get my hands on him--'

'Well...yes, but I like you too.' Izuku's eyes widened as Katsuki let out a tch sound. 'Ugh, I guess...would you like to go on a date then?'

'Uh, sure.'

Some whump/whump-adjacent stuff I liked before knowing what whump is.

Most of Criminal Minds, specifically Spencer’s character. The Tobias Hankel storyline + the ep. where he gets anthrax. That and some of the unsubs. Then the one marionette episode that was of course directed by MGG. But also Penelope shooting the one guy to protect Spencer.

There was this one Dan & Phil fic on Wattpad where one of them gets the other flowers & places them as a table centerpiece; sweet peas. And the other has a panic attack, not cause of the flowers themselves but b/c a toxic ex used to call him sweet pea as a pet name. Think the fic was even called sweet pea.

There was also this one book I read eons ago w/ an unreliable narrator where you're following her along, thinking she eats, sleeps, and breathes being a participant in experimental studies. But towards the end, it's revealed that she's in a psych ward as a mentally ill patient. All the studies you've been tagging along with as the reader was simply a form of psychosis for this character. I unfortunately don't remember the name of it.

I think the movie is Disturbia (2007) but basically the main guy’s on house arrest & is a peeping tom towards his neighbor. And through this, he also finds out that another neighbor is a murderer. But there’s this one chase scene towards the end that’s just ingrained in my memory.

The episode of Outlander where Roger is reliving the hanging as a form of ptsd and it's just a black and white silent film. And later on, Roger stops Ian from killing himself. Also that show is just chalk full of whump.

The tragedy that is Jinx & Viktor characters in arcane. When Jinx ties Silco and Vi up at the dinner table and is monologuing about how Silco wasn't the one to create Jinx—Vi was. + Jinx using the punching game that she used to watch Vi do all the time. When Viktor gets desperate and ends up injecting himself with shimmer.

Whumpee who hasn't seen whumper in eons yet can't stand the sound of whistling. The hair on their arms and neck standing up on edge. Feeling the need to run away whenever they hear that awful sound. Always high pitched and taunting. A sarcastic modality. Sent back to a time where it meant the onslaught of pain. Caretaker picks up on it when they feel whumpee's breath hitch in the middle of grocery shopping. Immediately taking their hand...a tether they can hold onto. Whumpee grabs on, wrapping like a boa constrictor around their arm. Caretaker attempts to hurry their way through.

(Very loosely inspired by the events of the socializing club)

Fundy shrieks in terror as he's suddenly suspended 10ft in the air by the ankle. He had been mindlessly foraging for berries, low on supplies with how often Yogurt snacked on them. He had forgotten how much his land overlapped with hunters. Now here he was, lungs gasping for air as he sat trapped in a net. All he could was wait until someone decided to take refuge on him. A slight terror at the thought that someone wanted to declaw him or remove his tail as a pelt. His extremities aching as an hour turned into two with no support.

'Oh shit! So sorry!' Fundy's turned to the sound of the person's voice. They had quickly realized that it wasn't an animal in the net but a person. Unable to see that he was a fox hybrid just yet. 'Please, get me down,' Fundy whimpered. His wish granted as he heard the snap of a rope. Heart jumping into his throat as he plummeted straight down towards the forest floor. A harsh 'zip' sound ripped through the air. Y/n hadn't thought about what they could use to cushion their fall. Running to catch him, semi-successfully.

'Are you alright?' Y/n asks, completely winded. Rather than catching him, the two instead collided. 'I should be asking you that.' Fundy offers a hand, helping them up. 'Can I at least treat you to a drink or dinner? Not as a date, but make up the trouble. Mean it can be if you'd like but--.' Fundy cuts them off, 'That'd be nice, as long as I can bring my kid.'

'Okay, dinner's on me then.'
