my speak now tv vault track/overall impressions are under the cut if anyone wants to read! wrote these right after listening for the first time :) they got long (a girl has a lot of feelings about speak now! who would've thought)

• electric touch!!!!!!! this is such a cute song omfg. i love the way she writes about love as fire so much (and i think it's interesting considering another common motif she uses is love as a religion...hm. anyway.) if i had to guess when this was written it would've been closer to the beginning of the process bc fearless taylor's sensibilities come through a lot. i can see why they cut it bc it's so similar to sparks fly in concept. i LOVE THE FOB FEATURE.

• when emma falls in love: "little miss sunshine always thinks it's gonna rain" & other incredible one liners!!!!!! OH MY GOD THE BRIDGE. I KNEW I WAS GOING TO LOVE THIS ONE. i understand why they cut this one bc it's not explicitly personal until the bridge and it is speak now after all. even though i think "when emma falls in love i'm learning" (or whatever it is) is a bit of a clumsy lyric, the sentiment is soooooooo dhsksjshdhjdbd. like of course she was looking to her friends and being envious of their relationships going well based on what she was experiencing. it's a beautiful companion piece to btr and little speak now honestly, and i think the themes of comparing yourself to other women on this album are super interesting and relatable.

• i can see you: OMFG DHSGSJDGSJHDKSHSKVDJD UP AGAINST A WALL WITH ME?????? I LOVE HER THIS IS SO FUNNY AND SO FUCKING GOOD WTF. obviously we all know why they cut this. the professional business vibe is so funny like girl why do u want a business man. unfortunately my brain went straight to emily poe bc the gaylor pathways run deep. where was this song 4 months ago. ANYWAY. i'm so glad she let this one bejeweled bc horny teenager music is kind of unmatched. i love her for this.

• castles crumbling: okay nothing new precursor!!! i have a feeling this will be a grower for me. the arrangement/production reminds me of an overly cheesy song that would play during the credits/climactic moment montage during a movie? idk. idk how i feel about it but it certainly is in line with the sound of the rest of the album (haunted, long live). i can't quite tell if she's writing about hypotheticals or if this is stuff she already experienced. the "power went to my head" is so interesting because like. bbygirl u were a kid of course it was going to do that. idk. i thought the second verse was stronger. i think the castles crumbling imagery as an explicit ending to the fairytale themes coming from fearless is a little too on the nose. least fave so far but could def grow on me.

• foolish one: this is SO CUTE. i love this one so much. i'm convinced that the last chorus at the end (her lower register sounds soooooo good there but we all knew that) was something she added retroactively. it feels like present her talking to younger her which is so sweet (but also 😵‍💫). an excellent more realistic thematic companion to little speak now i think. she's so good at these sweet upbeat countryish songs and i will happily take them every time. (edit: "you are not the exception" is a "the only exception" reference, no?)

• timeless: IT'S NOT A TAYLOR ALBUM WITHOUT AN OUR LOVE IS FATE SONG!!!!!! the historical fiction nerd in me is obsessed with this one. THE ROMEO AND JULIET/LOVE STORY CALLBACK IN THE SECOND VERSE??????? OKAY LITERARY GENIUS. the instrumentation is so lush and perfect and the subtle horns are soooooooo nice. it might be recency bias but i think this is my favorite one.

overall I thought it was really interesting to see which songs she cut and how two of them were seemingly because they were too "explicit" in some ways. let baby taylor be horny on main!!!!!!!!! it's really interesting to compare castles crumbling to long live and see how those fears about fame turning sour for her were already very present. it gives more context to the long live bridge imo. overall none of these have like recontextualized the album for me in the way the red vault did (or feel like they were touching on missing pieces of the story ig) but they definitely added some more color to certain themes. i am trying to not think about how i can see you could easily be about jm. overall i'm happy with the speak now album we got but i'm obvs also very glad to have these songs <3

#i think the actual rerecordings on this one are the best across the board #oh ig i forgot to talk about btr. i can see both sides and honestly don't have strong feelings either way but she clearly does and i think #that's fine #the thing about rerecords is that they're supposed to be a replacement but human beings making art about human emotions can't create #a carbon copy. and as it's a lyric that goes with a sentiment she no longer agrees with and is actively harmful that we can all agree is ba #alongside the precedents for doing so both in the current pop music landscape but also in her discography since her first album #i can understand why she would change it even if i might not make the same decision. and the original remains as well (it's not like she's #re-writing history in the same way)#anyway i love it and i love her <3 #and i think i'm going to continue to do my first listens kind of isolated for a bit after this. it was so nice to not be on the #Having Strong Opinions website and getting to just enjoy in my own time. would recommend.#OH and to my btr point i think the new lyric is better which is probably why i am not as phased as i thought i'd be #moth girlies unite #vi is typing...

04: do you believe the theory that dreams are parallel worlds we visit while we sleep?

Yes and no. The idea we’re all touching on a potential something from an alternate universe is fascinating, and I’ve cetainly had intense dreams that felt so incredibly Other and realistic, and desperate that it was like I was somewhere Real.

But on the other hand, some of them are utterly nonsensical, like the time I fought a giant lion that came out of the ocean while my warrior group/family were on vacation at the beach, or the time I went on a murer mystery tour with the fucking muppets and was emotionally devastated when a pterodactyl died. Etc.

11: what scared you most when you were a kid? what scares you most now?

The dark, but only because we were in a rural region and I knew what was actually out there In It. Also a certain person used to lock me outside at night for punishment, esp. when there was a wild boar on the loose.

Plus... there was a fan in the shared bedroom, and somehow it always looked like a demonic giant clapping monkey thing... also apparently I thought there was something under the bed? Parental Unit loves reminding of how I used to run full tilt and LEAP to make it onto the bed without getting too close lmao.

Now? The future. Being trapped in the same cycle of nightmare forever, of my current now. Being this ugly and awful and etc forever. And yet equally terrifying, the thought of anything changing. Uncertainty, perhaps. Some people have dreams and goals to work towards, and I have nothing but a blank gaping wormhole with question marks.

Me? No.

However the family has this little elderly chair (now destroyed bc cats) that came with someone, and no one realised it until later. She was a little victorian lady, apparently she was dressed in green; she was very polite and seemed to just like resting in the chair most of the time.

I never saw her, but she would frighten my sibling because we were all little; Parental Unit politely asked if she could not show herself to the children, because she was frightening them. And we didn’t see her after. I do hope she went on, or is at least content where she is.

(There was also a little puppy dog that used to run around the garden, but I hope they have gone on too).

18: have you had any reoccurring dreams? what about nightmares?

No, but I do have vivid dreams frequently.

Although in the past I had a lot of dreams that would involve a sexier version of myself fighting monsters to protect a random assortment of people, or going on quests. Also random ones where wolves or snakes would show up.

And that Jurassic Park one, lmao.

But mostly random.

Before I ever saw nightmare on elm street, I had a nightmare about a demon that was killing people in their sleep (kids in my grade), it was bizarre. I fought him in a tent in a cornfield, he had the limbs of people I went to school with all over the place, like a merchant’s wares. I beat the Shit out of him like the time with the Pterodactyl.

All of them. It happened frequently until a few years back, and then the other day I was in the middle of something so specific and time/date oriented that I was super confused as to why I felt deja vu???

Because it involved reading something that was released that month, watchng something with a time stamp on it, and talking to someone about a seasonal thing. It was bizarre.

long and personal post/rant

In January 2018 I decided to quit my well-paying job bc it was making me miserable. I was depressed, super anxious, hated going to work everyday, crying constantly, distracted, etc. I got a new job at my same org that paid half as much for half the time, and my mental health issues pretty much cleared up overnight. I had no idea how much my emotionally abusive boss had been weighing on me. It felt like a literal 180. I planned on using my extra time for volunteer work/antiracist organizing work, and going to astrology school. The pay cut was substantial and hard, but I moved out of my own place and into a house with other folks to try to help with that. My rent went down by about half, to $490.

In April, the couple I was living with moved out. Myself and my other housemate were unable to find another couple to take the big room, or a single person willing to pay $700-$800 for it, so I moved into the big room, continued to pay $490, and my partner stayed with me half time and contributed $200, so together we paid $690.

In July, my car insurance went up $200 per month bc back when I was in job hell and crying all the time and working 50+ hours per week, I got into an accident that was my fault.

In August I realized I was struggling to make ends meet, had been spending more than I was making each month, and had pretty much eaten up my checking account, and maxed out a credit card. And this extra $200 per month was going to exacerbate that, so I got a couple side hustles to try to make up for it. These have been inconsistent, although helpful. I now usually work between 30-40 hours per week, in addition to my astrology school and the work I’m doing to get my own astrology business set up.

In September my partner of 4 years unexpectedly broke up with me. It has been a really, really hard time. I talked to my therapist and she agreed to see me for half her usual rate so I could start seeing her every week instead of twice a month. My partner had set up an automatic payment through the end of the year to keep paying me the $200 that he was contributing in rent, so I had that for a few months, but that ended in December.

Last month my roommates agreed to split the cost of the house 3 ways, so that my rent didn’t go up $200 a month—but that just means that they’re paying $30 a month more each, so now I’m paying $633 instead of the $490 I was paying.

So, to recap: I wasn’t making ends meet for the first 9 months of 2018 but I had a buffer. That buffer is now gone, my expenses have gone up about $400/month, and the extra money I’m bringing in is inconsistent and doesn’t cover my additional new costs.

On Tuesday my therapist said she can’t continue to subsidize me and that I need to re-evaluate what I’m paying her. She suggested that I skip lattes sometimes or buy cheaper groceries. My food budget is $100 per month.

Which brings me to today. Today, one of my roommates (a white cis straight dude) told me he couldn’t afford to continue “doing me a favor” and pay the extra $30 a month because he has to pay $25 a month for his band’s practice space, and he can’t afford to pay more than the rent he originally agreed to. This man has not had a job since he moved in last June. He has turned down jobs because they interfere with his band practices. He has been living off unemployment and food stamps, which he knew would run out this month. He told me I’m an asshole for bringing this up and that it has nothing to do with him paying rent, and that we are paying rent based on sizes of rooms and it’s not fair for him to pay the same as me when his room is smaller. I don’t give a shit about which room I’m in, I’ve repeatedly offered to switch with him but he doesn’t want to. I told him I might have to move out because I can’t afford extra rent and he said basically “oh well.”

So anyway, now I’m in tears because it looks like I should probably move out and/or get a new job, and the idea of either of those things is so incredibly stressful that I like actually can’t comprehend it. I’m leaving for a (grant-funded, not something I paid for) ten day wilderness trip on February 9th and have a million things to do to prepare, so it’s not realistic for me to move before then. I have so much extra shit that I would need to get rid of to make moving feasible. The last 2 moves I had, I relied on my partner to help me so much, and the idea of trying to do this without him sounds so overwhelming. And overall I’m just so fucking sad because none of this would be happening if the person I’m in love with hadn’t left me alone, and I miss him so much. He made my life feel so easy and bright even when it was hard and scary. He was a lighthouse to turn to when I was going through the storms of a life with mental illness. I just feel like i don’t know how to get by without him anymore. I’ve lost my way and don’t know how to find a path forward.

Ummmm anyway if you read this could you just say one nice thing? I mostly wrote this out for myself but I don’t want to feel like I’m just screaming into the void.

So I'm writing a VLD fic

@comfortably-chaotic-mind I'm tagging you bc you know this fic and I'm sure you'll want to hear this lol plus this is kind of a funny story...sorry for the long post though

Everybody else, I'm very very very sorry you have to put up with this but I'm really upset about this right now so I gotta get this out

Basically, Keith's dad was super close with the latest Admiral of the Galaxy Garrison. Like I'm not sure what happened with them (maybe graduated together?? or the admiral taught him some life lesson??? idk) but Kogane trusts Dos Santos with his LIFE okay

And he basically says that Dos Santos is Keith's godfather in his will

So when Kogane dies...Dos Santos shows up and is like bitch u ain't takin this boi to the home

So Keith becomes like the housecat-ghostboy-orphan of the Galaxy Garrison. He likes sitting with the old people, climbing in the rafters, and sneaking around to scare the shot out of the cadets.

He's also an avid reader. (A personal headcanon of mine but blown up to a massive proportion.)

Like I mean this boy eats books for breakfast lunch and dinner. If he's awake, he's reading. He listens to audio books to fall asleep half the time (the other half of the time he's blasting Disturbed or FOB or something edgy like that).

This boy has read every book that could even VAGUELY be considered interesting.

Okay, let me just tell you:

The average school library has a ratio of between 10 and 20 books per student.

Let's say the Garrison has 5000 students (just larger than West Points cadet count) and their ratio is small at 10. That's 50000 books in the library.

Probably 10000 are extra copies or second/third/twelfth editions of the same books (going by the ratio of 1/5 that my school had). That's still 40000.

I'm gonna be nice and say that 500 are reference books, another 500 are random (small, informational or entertaining, don't fit a special category), 25000 are nonfiction, and 14000 are nonfiction.

Keith is almost 13 at this point in the story.

As an avid reader myself, I started reading at four. Keith started at five in the story.

I was six when I read my first 200pager. So was Keith.

So let's say he started on the smallest books in the Garrison at age 5. That's 500 in a year. About a book and a half a day.

Boom. Down to 35500 books in the library.

(As we all know, I hope, the library will rotate books, causing the number to fluctuate a bit. But let's say for the sake of math that it stays this way)

His dad already gets supplies from the Garrison (because he lives on Garrison property shhh it makes sense) so he starts asking for more books because Keith is just eating them up.

So the countdown to 15000 starts.

This is where I should explain that I literally lived down the road from a small town library until I was ten years old. I know what it's like to have access to books. I went to the library with my uncle every saturday afternoon. The librarian knew my name and used to come to my soccer games when he could. He was my best friend.

I remember when I was about seven I started getting frustrated because I would go through all my books in the first few days of the week and then be out until Saturday. I started taking my bookbag with me. I made my uncle (in his teens) take one, too. We crammed anywhere from thirty to sixty books into those bags and carried more with us.

The only reason we got away with it (because there was a 20 book limit) was because we had six library cards between the three of us--i had mine and my mom's, my uncle had his, his best friends, and my grandma's, and the library dude was nice enough to lend us his if we needed it.

So yeah. On a good week, I got about seventy books. That's ten books a day.

(I should explain that I still went to school. I went to public school with plenty of kids who hated reading enough for all of us. I had teachers who either insisted I was some kind of genius--i wasnt--or banished me to the hallway for reading Jane Austen during reading time when they specifically said to pick something at the class reading level. I know this life. It's kinda sucky.)

So yeah. Ten books a day, seven days a week, for fifty-two weeks. I got through the entire small-town library (4000 books) in just over a year.

Yes, I even read the reference books. Yes, I had to ask for help with some of the more sophisticated books in the library. (Yes, I skipped a few of the research books. I was eight. Sue me.)

What I'm saying is that it is realistic for me to have Keith reading 5 or 6 thousand books a year for eight years, because in this story he has LITERALLY NOTHING ELSE TO DO.

His dad homeschools him without schooling him at all (unschooling, look it up on wikipedia--yes I know it probably doesn't work like that, but it's my AU and I do what I want). Then his dad dies when he's just over eight and he's alone in the house for a year. Just books to keep him company.

Then (after meeting Sam Holt) he starts trekking out to the Garrison, creeping around the halls and camping out in the library when he feels like it.

He makes friends with the campus librarian. Professors give him books for his birthday. At twelve, he got Sam and Dos Santos to help him build a room onto the old shack so his books weren't just lying wherever in the house. The room has twelve bookcases (three on each wall) each with five shelves (60 shelves total) and full of books (about 2000 books total, give or take).

He doesn't socialize a lot (he's still Keith) but it's not that he doesn't want to. It's just that he's awkward (he's still KEITH). If people would stick around for a while (more than ten minutes), he's actually really cool and funny, even if he's a little defensive/shorttempered/oblivious/clueless.

(Just because you're smart and read a lot doesn't mean you understand everything. Just because you know how to make jokes doesn't mean you always catch them or that you understand idioms or innuendos or anything that isn't straight talk.)

His jokes are literature based. He uses sarcasm a lot even though half the time it comes out wrong. He identifies with both Darcy and Elizabeth on a spiritual level.

He has a room at Dos Santos' that has a bookcase full of composition notebooks, themselves full of notes on all the books he's read, little doodles of scenes he really likes, and jokey little summaries of long reference passages.

He's a nerd who never had to learn how to socialize with real people. He LIKES people. He's not a robot, and he doesn't automatically hate you on sight.

He's just been through a lot in his life, and he's still just a lonely little kid.

Anyway. Keith reads about twenty fiction/short books some days, four longer reference/textbook books other days. It varies. It took him six hours to get through Under the Dome, and there was one time he read eleven aeronautics manuals in eight hours and then passed out for fourteen, but mostly he takes longer for reference books/textbooks than fiction books/memoirs.

Also he's read the dictionary/thesaurus like forty times by the time he's thirteen and he shows ZERO sign of stopping. It's basically a religion at this point.

So let me break this down again:

Garrison library has 50,000 books. Minus 10,000 because they're copies/lame editions. That's 40,000 books.

1000 are reference books or random (small, informational or entertaining, don't fit a special category) books, 25000 are nonfiction/memoir/diagram based/school or lesson based, and 14000 are nonfiction.

Keith starts reading at five. His first five hundred are done when he's six--he starts on the next five hundred and finishes within months. His dad starts asking for larger shipments.

By the time Keith is seven, he's read 2000 books.

We're down to 38,000 books in the Garrison library.

Between seven and eight, he reads another 3000. Down to 35,000 books in the Garrison library.

A couple months later (500 books down, 34,500 to go) his dad dies. He's alone in the house for 10 months, only books to keep him company.

He reads another 4,000 books in this time. By the time he turns nine, he's reading at a high school level. 30,500 to go.

Sam visit on his ninth birthday. He brings more books, invites him to visit the Garrison sometime. The librarian could use some company.

Keith does.

By the time he's ten, he's read another 6,500 books. It's a really good year. 24,000 to go.

Age 10-11: 6,000 books. 18,000 to go.

Age 11-12: 5,750 books.12,250 to go

He's turning 13 in a few weeks. This year he has so far read 5,375 books. He wants to hit 5500 again. For the five year anniversary.

It's not a good year. He's not feeling great. He starts talking to Matt more than he used to. Matt pushes him a little. He says he can do it. Keith believes him. He's never lied to him before.

(That Keith knows of. What goes to his benefit is unnecessary knowledge for him.)

He hits 5,500. 6,750 to go.

This is where I am now.

Now by all accounts, there are a few notes I should make.

There is a portion of books at Keith's home that he has not read. They are books the librarian gave him because she knew he hadn't read them before they were getting rotated out for a new shipment. This is probably 500 books.

That makes the total 7,250.

Less than ten thousand.

He has read 33,250 books in eight years (ages 5 to 13). Average: 4156.25 books per year, 11.3 books per day.

I'm almost twenty and I read 55,383 books between the ages of 4 and 18 (between the first book I read at home and the last book I read before my graduation ceremony). Average: 3955.93~ books per year, 10.8 books per day.

I didn't have a lot of friends. I was bffs with every librarian I met/had. In 10th grade world history we had to give one cool/weird fact in an introductory assignment and I told them I had read every book in the school library. No one believed me. I told them I could prove it. She said go ahead.

"I have read every book in the school library. The librarian can vouch for me. They have not rotated their books since I was in eighth grade. My grandmother works here, so I know. There are exactly 17,488 books in the library, not including extra copies or "editions" like all they did was change two sentences in the intro that's hardly new information. But whatever. I started reading that year. I made a list of every book i read that year. There were 3272. That's 14216 to go--all of which were in the fiction and nonfiction sections. My grandmother checked them out. If you go into her records from that year and take that list and add it to my list from last year in 9th grade, you'll see that I read every single book. I started with the reference section that year and then went to the manga, then the nonfiction, then the historical fiction, then the fantasy fiction. I had already read most of the books in the fiction section. 6,791 out of 7,918 to be exact. That's 7425 to go. I'd also read 3577 if the 6298 nonfiction books. That's 3848 to go. Over the course of the last school year, which lasted exactly 42 weeks, I checked out 30 books every Monday and 50 books every Thursday. That's eighty books every week. Times 42, that's 3360. 488 left. I hung out with my grandmother while she worked over the summer. I kept my reading up, only for the first half. By the end of July--the 29th--I had read the rest. That's nine books a day every day. Don't believe me? Ask the librarian."

So the teacher did.

She put the librarian on speakerphone.

The librarian went on a full ten minute rant about how ridiculously difficult it was checking out fifty books at a time.

My history teacher wouldn't come within 2ft of my desk until after holiday break, and she didn't go into the library at all that year.

Moral of the story: IT IS TOTALLY LOGICAL/ACCEPTABLE THAT I HAVE KEITH READING OVER 30,000 BOOKS IN EIGHT YEARS IN THIS FIC OKAY PLEASE DON'T COME AT ME OVER THIS

alright i was tagged by @actualprincejun (sorry this is so late! you’re the real mvp always tagging me in stuff ilu) to do the 5 things.... tag meme! this is gonna end up being long bc i tend to babble so i’ll put it under a readmore

5 things you’ll find in my bag:

it depends on if you mean backpack or purse. i’ll go with backpack bc that’s more interesting lol i’ll always have

1) professional stuff like my wallet, school ID, textbooks, etc. along with a million pencils. seriously. idk why i have so many of them?? also my glasses

2) headphones, for obvious reasons lol i dont go anywhere w/o them.

3) a pack of gum bc god knows i cant go through life without gum lol also for that reason where you can offer gum to people you dont know to socialize with them, PRO TIP FOR ALL YOU ENTERING COLLEGE bring gum so you can give some to your neighbors in class/partners, they’ll like you much better i promise. dont wait for them to ask, offer!!!

4) i usually have a stash of extra tampons and pads on the off chance i get my period or someone needs one lol

5) a miscellaneous item. it changes by the day. sometimes itll be a bunch of plastic bags, or (most likely) food of some sort lol but ive also found a twenty dollar bill at the bottom of my backpack so its rly just... random. one time i found a gift card to borders, which is funny bc they had been out of business for years when i found that lmao

im a huge fan of collecting random shitty trinkets that are no use to me whatsoever, so i’ll pick my 5 favorites i guess lol which will likely be incredibly hard... im a hoarder

1) ive got a cute little plant that im convinced is dying, im sorry! the leaves are still green so... i guess its still alive at least a little bit

2) ive got a relatively big replica of the boats from like the 1400s, you know the ones with all those sails and you think of pirates when you see it? yeah thats it

3) on my wall there’s a bunch of masquerade masks pinned up there, one of them is really nice, im surprised ive not broken it yet. along with the masks are some beautiful folding fans, the ones you always see in historical movies. they’re really breathtaking

4) OH I CANT FORGET ve got my day6 daydream album poster on my wall i love it to bits it just... fits my room so well. i didnt put my mamamoo or seventeen poster up bc day6 feels better in my room

5) ive also got a bunch of these weird... hand things. like ive got two porcelain sculptures of hands put together, holding palms up, like when youre trying to hold water in your hands. i use one of them to put my keys everyday so i know where they are. ones a coin holder. and ive also got a mini statue of just a regular hand and i put my necklaces/jewlery on the fingers to hold. its pretty cool

5 things I’ve always wanted to do in life:

1) SKY DIVING!!!!! i am determined to go sky diving before i die. coincidentally, when i get in a... bad .. mood i always remind myself of that pact and im like Alright....... and i feel less bad in that sense i guess. ive seriously wanted to do it for so long but never had the chance/money

2) become fluent in another language will always be one of my lifelong goals. once i learn one, i want to learn another. my problem is i just cant stick with one

3) live in a house with a secret room like with those bookshelves. man that would be cool

4) have all the weird pets. i want a pet rat, a pet iguana, a pet ferret, a parrot, lol that rhymed, you know all the good ones

5) travel, obviously

5 things on my to-do list:

1) shower lmao i hate when i dont have stuff to do during the day bc i dont shower i just.... sit. and be on the computer. which is seriously not healthy for me ive found, its a big cause of mental health(TM)

2) get rid of this fucking acne holy shit its so stubborn i may cry ive been trying for months now with a couple different things and Nothing Is Working

3) start actually eating healthy and working out yikes i keep telling myself i will but its just so hard to get started. once im in a routine its fine but the starting.....

4) try to write something even if its just a sentence

5) idk, do my homework maybe and not screw myself over by waiting till the last minute. also i want to get out of the house. this ice storm & 4 day weekend is giving me cabin fever

5 things people may not know about me:

1) what am i supposed to write here no ones gonna care enough to know these facts lol i guess for this 1st one ill write that im way less optimistic than people usually think i am im just good at faking it

2) i like to think im good with reading people and knowing them, even if they dont know themselves.

3) all my job aspirations are too much for me to handle. being a teacher actually wasnt my first choice, its just the one that hurts the least. i wanted to be a therapist, but knew i couldnt talk to a depressed patient without bursting into tears myself. i wanted to be a vet/doctor but i could never handle death. especially being a vet. i wanted to be a forensic analyist or fbi agent or something but that also deals with death and i just... cant. a teacher is realistic. it may not be what i want, but its what im going to be. wow i went on a long tangent there y i k e s

4) i am one of the few people that actually like their parents. they may not be perfect but i have so much to thank them for. also, my mom always told me that if i befriended someone who didnt like their mom/dad/parents that shes your mom now. lol i used to compare her to mrs clause bc thats the type of person she is shes chubby and constantly smells like cookies and smiles all the time and is just... happiness

5) my favorite thing in the world is buying/making presents!!!! bc its one of the only things im good at lol i love giving people presents because theyre always perfectly chosen, a story behind each thing. its the only time my hyperawareness of people and sentimental-ness comes in handy

FIRST BLOG

I am new to this, but I need an outlet. I need to express my emotions. I need to get this out.

I had my first child when I was 17 years old. I did everything correctly and grew up when I found out I was pregnant my boyfriend and I were in this together. I graduated on time with my baby girl front and center watching me. Once we got our own apartment and we’re comfortable our child was about 3 years old, I wanted another baby. SO BAD. So a few months later I was pregnant. I instantly had “pregnancy anxiety” I just knew something wasn’t right but I also had a calming feeling I could handle whatever it was. Everyone thought I was nuts, my doctors, my Mom who is a nurse so is very realistic when it comes to healthcare but I think also very modest bc she didn’t want her only daughter to hurt or be scared and my boyfriend who just thought I needed to take a chill pill. My entire pregnancy I cried all the time I panicked what if the baby died in my womb? What if she comes out dead? What if she has Down syndrome? What if? What if? What if? I drove myself crazy.. I had never experienced this with my first pregnancy so I just chalked it up to.. now I’m older and I’m more aware of things.. blahblahblah

So at 37 weeks my water broke.. I was in labor for 4 hours and Natalie literally came right out I literally didn’t have to push at all it was all suction and she just pushed her way out, so quickly in fact my doctor was just entering the room.. Natalie almost fell on the floor but my Mother in law stopped the fall and grabbed her. Natalie was screaming her head off.I guess from all the commotion. She was born at 5:47am 7.4 lbs

I spent a lot of alone time with Natalie in our hospital room. I felt instantly bonded to her. I had never experienced this before.

We left the hospital the next morning and Natalie projectile vomited all over all of the outfits I brought her to wear and all over everything actually and failed her hearing test twice. My pure joy turned into anxiety once again I felt like something was wrong, but my boyfriend told me I was nuts

So Natalie kept loosing weight we couldn’t figure out why, she kept throwing up all over anything and everything for months.. she constantly screamed.. she sat up and crawled at age appropriate times, but one mile stone she didn’t hit was being able to eat she couldn’t even eat stage 1 baby food without choking and vomiting.. after months of pleading with our pediatrician about her vomiting and screaming and loosing weight.. here I was right back there trying to figure out how to get her to eat baby food.. once again no help all the doctors at the practice basically told to go fuck myself nobody would help us.. my boyfriend agreed with them.. I began to wonder am I crazy? Or is something not right? My gut feeling was something is not right and I kept fighting for Natalie.. alone. With lots of trial and error and months of trying I got Natalie to eat real food! I had done it! Me! Well once she started eating regularly.. she started getting constipated so here I am back at the pediatrician.. once again no help. The pediatricians would basically laugh at me. Anytime I came in with a real issue they would just tell me to go home. I had enough I actually got into a heated argument with a doctor that day. So that Feb we went in for a normal checkup and shots visit and the doctor says “what’s up with this heart murmur?” I instantly starting crying looking at my boyfriend in disbelief.. he said oh yeah she has a heart murmur I’m going to have to send you to a cardiologist immediently.. so a few days later there we were.. sitting in a cardiologist office.. I was terrified.. after an ekg and echo they told us Natalie had pulmonary stenosis and it could fix itself or it could get worse and they would have to operate. I was terrified. I am happy to report Natalie never got surgery for her heart and also grew out of her pulmonary stenosis and now only has mild aortic stenosis which was actually just rediagnosed a few months ago. Natalie turned 1 in July 2014 and there was no sign that she would be walking anytime soon. So at her 1 month checkup here I am waiting to be seen I expressed my worries and they told me every child does things on their own terms.. blah blah blah I said I know but I think something is wrong I’ve been doing research online can we do DNA analysis? No.. summer came and went and Natalie still didn’t walk.

Since the doctors refused to give me a referral. I referred myself to Early Intervention and got Natalie into physical and occupational therapy.

So in the fall when she still wasn’t walking I made an appointment with the pediatrician.. begging for genetic testing. They said no. I came back a few times and had to basically cry and scream and cuss at this woman her and my now at this time boyfriend became my husband the pediatrician told me I was crazy and there was no need to test and my husband agreed.. he said it was all in my head. The two of them against me. I had decided I’m not leaving here today without testing done.. so with my baby in my arms I pleaded with her please help me. She agreed. On the way home my husband yelled at me for my bahavior and told me I was crazy.. Weeks later I got a phone call that changed my life. On New Years Eve day 2014 that same doctor called me while I was at work.. I had been waiting for this call for weeks. I will never forget what she said “yeah.. I got the test results back. She has Williams Syndrome.” I started crying panicking what does that mean? Can she die? What can I do? CAN SHE DIE? “I don’t know much about it. Best case scenario she will be a greeter at Walmart. I have to go have a good day.” I couldn’t stop crying my heart so confused. I didn’t know what to do. I called my husband and my parents. All of them wondering the same question.. what does that’s mean? I myself wasn’t entirely sure..

Dear Old Me(continued),

I didn’t think that I would be writing this to you. The tone of the last letter was happy, because I feel like I needed to document how far I had came positively so you had something to look forward to. But I guess this is the more realistic letter that I was scared to write you.

After that letter, I couldn’t afford university and so we had to come home. Back to not having our own space, our own freedom. We enrolled in community college and got our old job back. But something I was scared to realize is that, since the last letter you’ve felt defeated. Like you had worked so hard to prove everybody wrong only to have that feeling of success be shot down.

I told you that you would get your heartbroken. And you did. You cut off one of your best friends. And as much as you made it seem to other people like you didn’t care, you cried the night you did it. Bc even though you knew she was bad for you, you wanted her to do better. And I think we miss her now. We miss her bc times were simplistic enough to where we could just be, and it wouldn’t bring consequence.

In college you just felt lost. We would get on the bus everyday and go to school just to check out mentally. Like we were there physically but in every other aspect we just stopped. School wasn’t and still isn’t important. You silently drop out and don’t tell ur mother how you feel and claim ur making payments. And you tell everyone that you are taking the summer off to just work.

But in actuality, we don’t know what the fuck we’re doing. I don’t know what I’m gonna do with my life, or even the type of person I wanna be. And now we are sitting in our own room thinking about life because I’ve watched too much Bojack Horseman and smoked a little too much weed to not think about my own flaws. You should start watching it. It’ll help you accept the fact that everyone is a little shitty in their own ways. People can be shitty to themselves, shitty to others, or shitty to their future.

We are not an exception. We just haven’t figured out what type of shitty we are. You finally get a girlfriend, and she actually makes you feel like someone understands. Like being with her is the equivalent to being barricaded in a dark, quiet room with ur most prized possession. Like when I focus on her, the sandstorm in my head finally stops. And I can just be here in the moment instead of reeling about how I could’ve made my life better.

In the last letter, I referred to you as a different person. Like I had changed so drastically that I had completely remade myself. But now I’ve realized that in a lot of ways we stayed the same. Your fear of people leaving you never stops. You have commitment issues because of it. Your scared of everyone going on and living their lives without you. And you just be left behind. That anxiety never ends. You don’t cry yourself to sleep anymore, because our mind races a mile a minute to try and figure out where it all went wrong.

You wrote a suicide note about 4 months after that letter too. And for a moment you felt at peace with that decision. But I’m telling you all of this shitty news for a reason. I’m telling you this because I need to give you a more realistic message about us and our life.

You’re an adult now. And when you wrote that letter you still had the last few fuzzies of being a kid stuck to your vision of the word. But now ur an 18 almost 19 year old who still lives with her mom with no college degree and ur dating a 20 year old who is talking about marriage, and babies. And a bunch of other adult shit you thought about but never really had to think about. You have no motivation for life and like I said before we have no fucking clue wtf we are gonna do with this life.

But I came to tell you that this is what progress looks like. I’m so uncomfortable with where I am in life rn. And that’s a good thing. Shit is gonna get uncomfortable in order to push us to adapt. It hasn’t been sunshine and rainbows after that letter, and I’m documenting this because you needs to know that life isn’t like a cut-scene or coming of age movie when you are experiencing it. Is long, it’s hard, and you don’t want to struggle. But it’s necessary.

I love you so much Aria. I can’t stress it enough. I love you so much it hurts. I’m proud we are trying. And I’m proud we just haven’t flat out given up. And I wish we could give each other a hug, because I know we both need it. Talk to your girlfriend. She literally is a saint and you need to tell her your fears. You can’t carry everyone else’s burdens on top of ur own shit. Everybody has baggage. She’s there so that both of you can carry it through our airport of life.

The final thing I have to say is, we have to let dad go. Your wrote him a letter on his birthday and the most heartbreaking thing is when you put that so much of yourself is bc of him. We loved Dad when he was here ,Aria. And now comes a time where we need to stop getting stuck in the past trying to make him the present. He died and I’m sorry. It’s was too soon I understand. But it’s a weight that’s gonna hold you down until you figure out that just because ur letting go doesn’t mean he’s gone. We have growing up to do, and we can’t do that if you can’t let him rest.

Keep ur head up. And respond to this letter after you turn 20. I wanna see the change. Don’t be scared, just live in the moment.

My grandfather, who is 72 years old, needs round-the-clock care that has now exceeded our capabilities. He suffers from pre-existing bad to severe dementia. He's suspicious, falls frequently, very forgetful, suffers from sundowning. He just doesn't know what to do and he even struggles with basic life functions. He also suffers from lymphatic cancer that metastasized to his lung and chest cavity, as well as squamous cell carcinoma that is very resistant to all his previous treatment and has spread to open wounds on his arm. Because all of his lymph nodes were removed, his lymphatic fluid constantly pools in that arm and swells to hugely abnormal size. Therefore he has to wear a sleeve to keep it in place, which is painful for him to put on and is time-consuming for his caregiver. He also is supposed to keep his arm elevated, but refuses because of his dementia. He is mean and hateful at times and insists that we are trying to kill him and is always demanding that his caregiver (my aging and stressed grandmother) remain at his side at all times, or he grows suspicious about her fidelity. He has hallucinations. We moved in with them to help her take care of him, but my school work (homeschooled, mainly to take care of them) and my mother's commute to work have also taken a toll on us. We hated to think about it, but we finally resolved that he belongs as a permanent resident in a home. The biggest problem is the astronomical cost which we can't just chip together , as it was never there in the first place. We did research on nursing home coverage and found out about long term care coverage. We found out some basic things like it is best to purchase at a young age. Unfortunately, my grandmother was never educated on insurance and doesn't possess significant life insurance nor anything like long-term care, and he doesn't qualify for the little help Medicaid offers. Although he suffers from cancer, he has reached the end of his treatment. His cancer was too resistant to all prospective radiation and chemotherapy, and the anti-body treatment that he tried, he had a massive allergic reaction to. He has awful pain all the time and is on a rotated regimen of extra strength ibeproufen and high dosage morphine, with a high grade fentanyl pain patch. So, although cancer plays a part in his insurance qualification in name, apart from being administered his medication and sleeve, his cancer is not the main concern as far as his care/treatment goes. We have had to accept that he is going to die sooner or later and are trying to find the best final preparations. Bentonite clay seems to be drawing out some of the side effects of his radiation (after which his cancer got worse), and so may prolong his life. The short prognosis was 2-9 months. His dementia have become exhausting and endless. There's simply nothing we can do anymore. He's on prescription for Aricept for the dementia and we give him melatonin for the sundowning, which seems to have a calming effect. Sorry for the long piece, but we're all very distressed about this and I felt that I had to give a thorough explanation of his ailments and treatment. Our needs are a long-term stay in a nursing home facility covering skilled care for his dementia, activities of daily living, ect. We also hope that he can be treated with respect and dignity. We need affordable prices like anyone else in the middle class, not astronomical rates. We also need a policy that would either cover pre-existing without penalizing for it or not asking health questions, ect., as my grandfather is obviously in need of care we can't offer him. The only policy we have even brushed upon is Physicians Mutual. We don't know anything about it really, and we don't know where to look for anything else. Everything seems to lead to a dead end online when we need a solution. Any help is greatly appreciated.""

I want to know your advice and recommendation on which company to receive my auto insurance/road service from, and what sort of coverage is recommended. I have been with AAA my whole life because my father advocates highly for them so I have trusted his judgment and experience. But I think they may be ripping me off.
