First off, just from an outsider-looking-in perspective, and just reading this with the information you gave me, this sounds VERY MUCH like someone suddenly realizing they fall on the a-spectrum and are just feeling super overwhelmed with this realization. This was me a few years ago, but with relation to sexual feelings.

Secondly, there is NOTHING wrong with you, and it's COMPLETELY normal to feel the desire to question yourself and make the decision to start your journey of self-discovery. It's a "quest" many a-spec people go on in order to try to figure ourselves out, because of how nuanced our personal attractions actually are. It often starts with a sudden realization of "wait.... not EVERYBODY feels this way???" It can be quite scary, especially if you’re older like myself and was raised one way only to suddenly have your world turned upside down when you accept that you are actually the minority, not the majority regarding sexual or romantic attraction.

One thing many of us a-spec people don't realize at first when we're trying to understand ourselves is just how NUANCED the a-spectrum really is, and just how important the split-attraction model is for us. Honestly, once I first discovered this term, things started to click into place for me, and it REALLY helped me understand myself a lot better. I REALLY suggest you look into that term first because it will help you understand yourself a bit better.

That said, your "kind" of aromaticism on the spectrum may be similar to my "kind" of asexuality, which is aegosexual... You may be aegoromantic. I'm not AS familiar with the aromantic orientations ONLY because I already knew I wanted romance as soon as I was learning about myself, so it was just a matter of finding the right "main" label for myself. BUT I do believe that for every asexual microlabel there is, there's also the aromantic equivalent, hence how I found aegoromantic so quickly, LOL.

And allosexuals will often harp on us for them, but for us a-specs, microlabels are SO important to us, to help us just... be at peace with ourselves. A lot of us NEED that affirmation that, yeah, you may love reading smut and it's completely okay, but don't ever want to engage in the smut yourself, but "asexual" is too broad a term for it, so you initially don't think you're asexual. But then having that tiny little part called "aegosexual" just... makes you assured that "yes, I am ace", you know?

SO all this leads to me saying this: start your journey at LGBTA+ Wiki; it was the place that had a bit more on aromanticism of the resource links I have readily available. From there, you can then google some terms and learn a bit more, just so you have a better definition of yourself, FOR yourself. And read about queerplatonic and platonic life partners, both of which will probably have some testimonies and stories from other aromantic people! You ARE able to love, Nonny, just your love is different than alloromantic people's, is all! And it's NOTHING to be ashamed of.

And I'm certain by the end of your journey, you will have a better understanding of who you are and YOUR type of love! <3
