Call of Duty Warzone: Best Season 4 Meta Weapons and Loadouts

Call of Duty: Warzone‘s Season 4 update heavily nerfed some of the guns that dominated Season 3 and introduced a surprising number of viable new options, which means that the battle royale’s meta has once again been thrown into chaos as players scramble to find the best weapons and loadouts.

Having said that, it’s already clear which guns are the absolute best (at least in the early stages of the Season 4 update). Yes, it wouldn’t be a Warzone meta if there wasn’t at least a couple of guns that are clearly better than the rest, and sure enough, Season 4 brings us two new weapons that appear to be a little overpowered at the moment.

So, from two legitimately broken guns to a handful of reliable standbys that you’ll want to turn to when those options are inevitably nerfed, these are the best weapons for the wild Warzone Season 4 meta:

Call of Duty Warzone Season 4: Best Guns

MG 82

It’s honestly hard to recommend any other gun ahead of the MG 82 in Warzone at the moment as this LMG appears to be legitimately broken.

This LMG’s high rate of fire is supposed to be compensated by its lower overall damage, but it turns out that this gun fires so fast that its reduced bullet damage tends not to matter all that much. This gun has about a 99% chance to get nerfed in the near future, so use it while you can.

PKM

If you have to go with another LMG (or just want a backup ready to go for when the MG 82 is nerfed), then you could certainly do worse than the PKM.

This gun gives you all the things that you’d expect from a Warzone LMG (large magazines and high rates of fire), but what’s great (and a little surprising) about this one is how the right stability attachments can reduce the impact of its unwieldy nature. The result is a truly great gun capable of quick kills.

XM4

This assault rifle has always been viable, but it has quickly impressed some Season 4 players who are already calling it one of the best mid-range options in the game.

While this gun definitely works best when paired with a sniper rifle (which helps compensate for its long-range weakness), its amazing stability overrides its damage deficiencies and makes it one of the “easiest” guns to effectively utilize in all of Warzone. That doesn’t mean it’s the kind of gun that will do your job for you, but it may still be the best overall option in its class at this moment.

C58

Here we have another new Season 4 Warzone weapon that already seems ready to dominate the battle royale’s meta.

This is just a straight-up great gun that can laser opponents even if you don’t crazy with attachments. However, it’s when you optimize this gun with the right accessories that you really start to appreciate how it’s capable of dominating pretty much any game of Warzone. This is another gun that will almost certainly be nerfed in the future.

DMR-14

Looking for a great Warzone weapon that isn’t really getting a lot of love at the moment? What you want is the DMR-14.

This tactical rifle briefly dominated the Warzone meta when it was introduced, but a series of nerfs put a quick end to its time at the top. However, the DMR recently got a seemingly minor buff that helps make this gun a very appealing long-range option for those who don’t want to fully commit to that sniper rifle lifestyle.

MAC-10

It’s actually kind of amazing that the MAC-10 has remained this powerful for this long without enduring significant nerfs, but the fact is that this SMG is still the king of its class.

This is just one of the best TTK options in Warzone. It challenges shotguns as a close-range option, and with the right attachments, it even does quite well at medium ranges. You won’t be able to rely on this gun in every scenario, but if you pick your battles carefully, it will take you far.

HDR

It’s still pretty easy to name the HDR the best sniper rifle in Warzone, even if the AX-50 is obviously gaining some ground in that department.

The thing that separates the HDR from its suddenly closest competitor is its bullet speed. It’s impressive enough that this sniper can down even the toughest opponents in just a single (well-placed) shot, but it’s the HDR’s speed and accuracy that makes it truly frightening.

Groza

Yes, we have yet another assault rifle on this list. That’s just the Warzone experience at the moment, with a couple of notable exceptions.

Anyway, a recent buff to the Groza means that it now competes with the FFAR as one of the best TTK assault rifle options in Warzone. This thing absolutely shreds enemies at close range, and it’s honestly much better at longer ranges than it ever used to be.

Gallo SA12

Shotguns really aren’t the best overall option in Warzone at the moment, but if you’re going to pick a shotgun, you’ve pretty much got to go with the Gallo SA12.

This gun has finally usurped the Streetsweeper as the best shotgun in Warzone. Its absurd rate of fire means that it can down a nearby enemy in seconds, which is certainly nice and really helps cover up for the fact that this gun is not viable at anything but point-blank range.

Kar98k

Even though the Kar98K has remained one of the most viable Warzone guns for a few seasons now, this is actually one of the more weirdly “balanced” weapons in the game.

The thing about this gun is that you need to be very accurate with your shots to really make it work. Furthermore, this is a “sniper” is really only viable at medium distances. If you can learn to consistently score headshots with this gun at the proper distances, though, then you’ll find it’s one of the most reliable and effective weapons in Warzone.

Welcome to this week’s Threat Source newsletter — the perfect place to get caught up on all things Talos from the past week.

Generally, when we write about a threat group or attack, that threat will calm down for a while. After all, it’s much for difficult for these threats to survive once awareness spreads about them. However, in the case of Sea Turtle, they’ve actually doubled down on their DNS hijacking techniques. Our new research indicates this group has developed a new way to secretly redirect DNSs, and they’re unlikely to slow down any time soon.

Ransomware has been making headlines over the past 12 months. Between Atlanta, Baltimore and, most recently, two cities in Florida, governments have been taken down by attackers looking for extortion payments. In the case of the two Florida cities, they chose to pay the extortion payment to the attackers, while Atlanta and Baltimore chose to go the more expensive route and manually recover their data. Which route is best? Which makes the most fiscal sense? We tried to find out in a roundtable featuring experts from Cisco Talos and Cisco Incident Response.

We also have our weekly Threat Roundup, which you can find on the blog every Friday afternoon. There, we go over the most prominent threats we’ve seen (and blocked) over the past week. Due to the Fourth of July holiday in the U.S., expect our blog and social media to be fairly quiet over the next few days.

Event: “DNS on Fire” at Black Hat USA Location: Mandalay Bay, Las Vegs, Nevada Date: Aug. 7 Speaker: Warren Mercer Synopsis: In this talk, Warren will go over two recent malicious threat actors targeting DNS protocol along with the methodology used to target victims, timeline, and technical details. The first is a piece of malware, “DNSpionage,” targeting government agencies in the Middle East and an airline. The second actor, more advanced and aggressive than the previous one, is behind the campaign we named “Sea Turtle.” Event: “It’s never DNS…It was DNS: How adversaries are abusing network blind spots” at SecTor Location: Metro Toronto Convention Center, Toronto, Canada Date: Oct. 7 – 10 Speaker: Edmund Brumaghin and Earl Carter Synopsis: While DNS is one of the most commonly used network protocols in most corporate networks, many organizations don’t give it the same level of scrutiny as other network protocols present in their environments. DNS has become increasingly attractive to both red teams and malicious attackers alike to easily subvert otherwise solid security architectures. This presentation will provide several technical breakdowns of real-world attacks that have been seen leveraging DNS for a variety of purposes such as DNSMessenger, DNSpionage, and more.

Cyber Security Week in Review

A new version of the surveillance tool FinSpy has been spotted in the wild stealing information from government and law enforcement agencies. Security researchers say the actors behind the attack appear to monitor mobile device updates closely and constantly tailor FinSpy to avoid detection.

GitHub is cracking down on open-source versions of a deepfake software that can make some people appear naked in videos. The creator of “DeepNude” destroyed the original app, but other creators had tried uploading clones to the code repository.

A vulnerability in the Zoom video conference app could allow an attacker to unknowingly turn on some Mac users’ cameras. The best current workaround is to update the Zoom Mac app and disable the feature that allows Zoom to turn on the camera when joining a meeting.

Adobe’s monthly security update included fixes for vulnerabilities in DreamWeaver, Experience Manager and Bridge CC. None of the bugs are considered critical.

A malicious app on Android known as “Agent Smith” was downloaded more than 25 million times before being removed. The malware disguised itself as a Google updater but instead made modifications to legitimate apps such as WhatsApp.

The U.K.’s privacy watchdog is preparing to fine Marriott the equivalent of more than $11 million for a data breach last year. More than 339 million guests across the globe had their information accessed in an attack that dates back to 2014 but was only disclosed in 2018.

Microsoft security researchers discovered a new fileless campaign that uses living-off-the-land techniques. Known as “Astaroth,” the attack only runs system tools throughout its attack chain.

The Buhtrap APT exploited a Windows zero-day to spy on government institutions in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. The targeted campaigns abused a NULL pointer dereference in the Windows win32k.sys component, which has since been patched.

Apple patched a bug in iMessage that could allow an attacker to completely brick a device. If a user opened a message containing a specific string of characters, they would have to perform a factor reset to regain access to their device.

Title: Microsoft Patch Tuesday Description: Microsoft released its monthly security update this week, disclosing a variety of vulnerabilities in several of its products. The latest Patch Tuesday covers 77 vulnerabilities, 16 of which are rated “critical,” 60 that are considered “important” and one “moderate.” This month’s security update covers security issues in a variety of Microsoft’s products, including the Chakra scripting engine, Internet Explorer and the Windows Server DHCP service. Title: Cisco warns of three critical vulnerabilities in DNA Center Description: Cisco released fixes for three critical bugs in its DNA Center last week. Two of the vulnerabilities — which both have a CVSS score of 9.8 out of 10 — involve Cisco Data Center Network manager. The flaws could allow an attacker to gain a valid session cookie or create arbitrary files on the victim machine’s underlying Cisco Data Center Network Manager (DCNM). Best Guns and Weapons List - Far Cry 5

What would a first-person shooter game be without a wide variety of different guns and weapons? Much more peaceful, probably, but the path of peace is but one of countless other choices available to Far Cry 5 players with a knack for firepower. Of course, not all of the weapons in Ubisoft's latest open world are up to the same standards, so we've got the skinny on which guns and weapons should be considered best as well as a comprehensive list of all the rest.

The Best Guns in Far Cry 5

What exactly constitutes the best gun in Far Cry 5? Such answers are not exactly straightforward. Fortunately, the quivering hivemind of reddit was able to pool its resources to come up with a Far Cry 5 weapons spreadsheet that details some of the top choices when it comes to factors like accuracy, damage, rate of fire, range, and handling. It's not hard to make money in Far Cry 5, so these choices represent some of the obvious standouts with regard to damage, range, and accuracy.

Most of the sidearms in Far Cry 5 have fairly low damage and accuracy ratings, but combined with overall handling, the .44 Magnum L is the pistol of choice. There's a slight tradeoff for overall rate-of-fire, however, so many users may prefer to stick with the standard 1911 for similar accuracy and near-similar damage with an increased rate-of-fire.

All of the shotguns in Far Cry 5 offer identical damage ratings, making accuracy and rate of fire the primary concerns. Toward that front, the SBS wins the contest by combining the highest accuracy with the longest range.

As with shotguns, submachine guns all offer the same base damage rating and range. Determining a winner involves looking at the highest rate of fire and accuracy statistics, which paint the Vector .45 ACP as the clear winner.

There are a lot of different rifle choices in Far Cry 5, and among all the different choices available are several options with somewhat-varied stats. Purely from a numbers standpoint, the 45/70 seems the preferred option for its best-in-class accuracy and damage. Expanding the list to include sniper rifles, the MBP .50 offers unparallel accuracy and the highest single-hit damage stat for any firearm in the game.

Finally, there are but two different machine guns in the game, both of which offer near-identical stats. Both the M60 and M249 offer similar accuracy, but M60's higher damage rating basically cancels out the M249's advantage in rate of fire.

World of Guns: Gun Disassembly is your GO-TO game if you love guns and all the technical aspects of guns. This game allows you to disassemble the guns, shoot them in a range, and understand the deeper mechanics of each gun.

While the game is pretty straightforward, there are a TON of unlocking to do. So if you’re looking for a game that will allow you to try many different types of guns… you’re out of luck. You gotta unlock those yo!!!
