HAPPY MERUEM MONDAY LMAO #this was initially supposed to be based on holst's jupiter (bringer of jollity) but i ended up reworking a lot of the ideas i had #did a little poking around and found jupiter (the god) has some connotations with light and then the whole #''name with directly biblical connotations'' thing happened; ive been wanting to draw him with a halo for so long now #also gave him eyeshine bc i think it's fun + makes him look a little more menacing; especially when the rest of him is cast in shadow #heavy light connotations yet i put him in the shadows.. #anyways I'm really happy with this one 💖 i dont really draw him a lot but I'm trying to make it count every time i do #''oh i dont like drawing meruem he's too detailed and complex'' and then i turn around and do this #i don't really play around with lighting a whole lot so a lot of this was new territory for me; glad the lineless look worked! #still had to um. manually draw to highlight his chest and abs for the EnjoyersTM out there lmao but other than that #not upset with this one and that's nice! it was meant to be monochromatic green as well. it got away from me lmao #hoatm draws

#yesterday i went on a sticker buying spree #i got the star phone case bracelet monday #i added the stickers to the phone yesterday and the flowers on the laptop this morning #both were dirt cheap meaning i had to add a layer of protective varnish on the foam stickers and manually glue on the flowers #with stick glue cuz the adhesion wthout sucked ass #still super cute i dare say! im felling prtty happy with the results! #new laptop was corrupted upon arrival and i had to reset it manually after hours of troubleshooting #and i had a minor procedure last monday #the recovery has been significantly more difficult than the literal major surgeries i’ve had #i’m still not even fully out of the woods yet but at least the related anxiety is more manageable now #i need one of those Nervous vests like little dogs wear #that’s just been me this whole week during recovery #it’s been. a lot #i need to draw aruna five thousand more times to relax #i'll get to those asks soon-ish #sea talks

Manuals Monday is back! On Mondays we feature an excerpt from a graphics standards manual from the archives.

Today’s manual is The Knoll Group Identity Guidelines and was designed by Chermayeff & Geismar in 1993 and features the original identity designed by Vignelli for Knoll Inc. in the 1960s.

This manual was donated to us by designer Bill Bonnell, who generously donated his own work to the archives along with a collection of graphic standards manuals.

obviously no need to specify what company u work for or anything but why do u need to travel so often for work! i hope ur getting compensated for this aaaaa

i’m a field merchandiser for a retail company, so I work at my home location day to day, but I travel to help other stores in my district with special projects on an as-needed basis for a few days at a time. other stores can weasel out of sending their field merch on a project on account of their store sucking so bad at the moment they absolutely need that extra body, but in general my store is the best in our district, so I’m almost always on the list lol.

I also travel to help with new store openings in my region, which is usually a hateful month long process. store planners tend to lack souls due to being on the road mon-fri every week of the year; there’s a sort of glazed look in their eyes that gets stronger every project. this makes it easy to commit wage theft on driving days <3 and yes I do get compensated for all travel work, they cover my mileage and hotel on top of of my regular wages, plus a food budget. it’s designed so that I do make a little extra when I travel to incentivize me to not quit on the spot when I start losing it in the hotel on week 3.

#I am NOT built for the long term travel #bc shifts are 8-4 and store opening special projects are heavy manual labor #so you basically wake up go to work go back to hotel go to bed for a month it’s horrific #cant even use the hotel pool bc the store planners are down there drinking their sorrows #drive in on Monday go insane for a week drive out on Friday dump my suitcase directly into the laundry and repeat

The unions in my town put on annual Labor Day picnic, and when I went there I grabbed a brochure for a sheet metal apprenticeship. Not sure how much it pays and it’d be a five-year commitment, but if my office job keeps killing me like this I might give them a call and ask some questions.

20. When did you first join Tumblr? How long was it between that and finding the Les Mis fandom?

I first joined in 2010 or so?  But like, I enjoyed AtLA a normal amount and watched Sherlock with my dad, and when I checked out those tags (Zutara vs Kataang flame wars and SuperWhoLock culture respectively), I was like, "Hmmm.  Let's not."  So I followed, like, HumansOfNewYork and fitblrs and social justice blogs until 2018 when ... inktaire, I think it was?  Kept posting about all of these characters in a musical I had been in the pit for but didn't recognize At All, and by the time I decided I was in the market for a hyperfixation, they had posted a link for WAR, and that was it.

23. Has your favourite character/ship changed over time?

Oh, for sure.  Entering the Les Mis fandom from the fanon end of things after only ever having been exposed to the musical definitely gave me a different understanding of the characters and their relationships than I have now that I've read the book/researched the era and figures/know more about the historical context/have seen a bunch more adaptations.  LM was also my first real experience with fanfic in general, so once the novelty of those tropes and styles wore off, I started actually exploring the story and characters more earnestly, rather than using the fandom to channel my interest in this new and unfamiliar genre, which meant that who and what I was interested in changed as well.
