The reason why you and i even speak anymore, old man, is 'cause we're drift compatible. We're good at smashing things up, you and I. You know what? We don't even need to speak at all. I'll catch you in the drift, Dad. (x)

All the little flowers gave me something to believe in
Tumblr media
References to what you told Arlo in Beachside
Tumblr media
Every year on your birthday Arlo buys you flowers. That didn’t stop when he was away in Mexico. Once a year he would drive to a payphone in the middle of Buttfuck nowhere with a prepaid credit card and order a bouquet of wildflowers. When they turned up at your home you would know that he was alive, that he was still out there thinking about you.
That changes when you hit year four, your birthday comes and goes and no flowers appear. Something inside of you just dies because Arlo, he never forgets. It takes you a couple of months to come to terms with it, the fact that Arlo’s not coming back. It’s been four years since you’ve laid eyes on him but there’s always been this hope…
Dating Michael Plank is easy, so is accepting his proposal.
You’ve craved stability since Arlo’s death, something to anchor you and that’s Michael through and through. It’s what he’s drafted his campaign slogan on.
It’s the morning of your wedding that the bouquet arrives at your apartment. It’s not the one you’re expecting, with red roses and baby’s breath. It’s a handtied bloom of wildflowers, the cornflowers the exact same shade of blue as Arlo’s eyes.
You know in that moment you realise you can’t marry Michael.
Your heart still belongs to a redhaired wild man in Mexico.

PLOT (May contain spoilers)
Kate has been working a job she doesn't like and saving up to go to medical school. She discovers she's pregnant. Her boyfriend is of good conduct, but she and her boyfriend Paul disagree with her decision not to settle down. She drives all day to David's place, her best friend since childhood.[3] She learns the next day that Paul has died in a factory fire. She reaches the factory. It appears as though Paul ought not have been at the factory and that his death appears to be suicide. Years later Kate has moved on with her life and her new boyfriend is David. She has chosen to raise the child who has grown to be a four-year-old whom she has named Meghan after her mother. David talks about conversations he's had with her that Kate doesn't remember. Kate gets admission to an accounting school. David asks her why she's settled for accounting when she wanted to go to medical school. They have a minor argument in which she accuses David of not doing much with his life either. Meghan plays too close to the river and is swept away by the river current. David jumps into the gushing current to save her. Kate follows and jumps in too. Kate gets separated.
Kate is then swept ashore and saved by the river patrol police. She awakens to discover that she has gone back in time to before Paul's accident. She slowly gets used to the time when David is still her friend and Paul is her boyfriend. She extracts a promise from Paul to never go near the factory and to marry her soon. Paul leaves early the next morning in his river boat to go to his retreat to have time to himself to think it over. David and Kate get worried and go off in search of him. They do not find him, but during the excursion she learns that David wanted to make it big by selling art in the big city. She discovers David has feelings for her when he says he's not going to miss anything if he dies, but he's terrified of what he misses if he lives. On the way she asks to be dropped at the factory. David returns home, and tells a frantic Paul she's at the factory. Paul goes to get her. At the factory Kate discovers the fire was started by an acquaintance who works for security at the factory on account of negligence by lighting a cigarette on premises. She gets hurt as the fire intensifies with explosions. Paul arrives, however he gets fatally hurt by shrapnel as more blasts occur. Kate tries to drag Paul, but eventually has to save her own life. She sees her other self arrive from the factory windows. Her memory fades and the next thing she knows is that she's in the water.
Kate is again swept ashore. The river patrol police find her. She awakens and knows that she is back in her own time and understands all. David confirms that Meghan is safe. She confronts the acquaintance, and he asks her why she didn't tell anyone. Kate has now learned that one cannot change the past but one can decide how to live for the future and moves on to living happy with David and Meghan.
Cast
Shannen Doherty as Kate
Julian McMahon as David
Max Martini as Paul
Courtney Kidd as Meghan
**
Shannen and Julian McMahon had previously worked together in "Charmed".
Shannen and Julian had a romantic relationship around May/September 2001, when this film was provably being filmed. You can see their chemistry on the screen (the way she smiles at him).

A Lie to Me* challenge fic! Thanks to @ofcourseiloveher (CommonFlower) for setting it up and FightingMomentum for the prompt!
There is a sweetness to transitory things, but she's never been good at letting go gracefully. It's one reason why Autumn has always been her favourite. She is tenacious by nature, and Autumn is a time to gather things close, people and memories.
An elegy in the key of Dave.

Beachside: Arlo Turk x Reader (NCIS:LA)
Tumblr media
Tagging: @kmc1989 @alexlynn16 @mini-bee-bee @scorpio-1357
I just love him so much, your honor!
Tumblr media
The water has always been a soothing place for Arlo, it’s one of the reasons he lives in a rundown yellow mobile home just a few footsteps from the beach. He doesn’t need much for him and Deogey, just a place to lay his head and chill his beers. They’d lived in much worse places back in Mexico, his last place of residence had been a camp bed in the corner of the garage he’d ‘owned’.
The first thing he does every morning is surf. It helps to clear his head of the nightmares that plague his sleep. He takes Deogey with him, the German Shephard likes to sniff out the driftwood along the shore while Arlo’s on the water.
Things are a little different today because you slept over last night. The two of you had laid outside on a blanket looking up at the stars until the early hours of the morning, holding hands, sipping beer. He’d spent the night telling you about all the shit he’d gotten up to in Mexico, the good, the bad and the down right ugly. You had told him about the man after him, the one you’d left at the alter because you just couldn’t bring yourself to close the door on Arlo.
They still call you Runaway Bride back at the office.
He leaves you to sleep in, his fingertips brushing the hair away from your peaceful features as his lips brush over your forehead. He still can’t believe what a lucky son of a bitch he is. Most women would have run a mile after laying eyes on this place, not you though, never you. You get why he needs to be this close to the ocean, how it helps to quiet his mind.
He spends a couple of hours out on the water, catching waves, letting his mind process the details of what you’d told him last night. He can’t stop thinking about what your life would have looked like if you’d gone through with the wedding, if you’d married Michael Plank, the man whose making a run for governor.
You would have been bored to death, he knows it.
The reason the two of you work so well is because you’re wired the same way he is. The difference is  you just hide it better.
The best sex he's ever had was in the cab of his truck after you’d been caught in the crossfire between a couple of warring cartel factions. All that adrenaline spiking through your system, it was like putting a spark to a keg of gunpowder when the two of you were together.
Raw. Passionate. Explosive.
He’d worn your brand all over his skin for weeks after that. Love bites, scratch marks, fingertip bruising, each and every single one a reminder of just how good you fucked him.
A man like Michael Plank couldn’t keep up with that. He couldn’t understand the thrill, the excitement, not the way Arlo does. He would have tried to temper that fire, douse it. Arlo, he just wants to let it burn, he wants it to shine so fucking bright it dazzles anyone who looks at it.
His gaze flickers up to the beach and he sees you sitting there on the shore, wearing one of his t-shirts and the pair of denim shorts he’d tugged down your thighs last night when he was going down on you. You have a cup of coffee in one hand and Deogey’s rope toy in the other. The German Shephard shakes his head as he tries to yank it from your hand but you hold firm, making him work for it.
Arlo can’t help but smile as he sits on the surfboard and watches the two of you. He never thought he’d have this again, that he’d feel happiness in his heart. Being back here in LA, it’s good for him, you’re good for him, and when you look up and give him that smile, he thinks he may be good for you too.

Hee! Just spotted this tiny moment at the end of Delinquent. Two people who have just realized that they no longer have anything to argue about or impress each other about, and they're going to have to Actually Deal with being mutually smitten.
I liked Dave. He was a good guy at heart, but he forgot Rule One: No, you can't keep cover and have normal human relationships. And Rule Two: Holy Shit You Never Break Cover To An Outsider And Expect Them To Help You Carry That And That Includes Ex-Pentagon Staff Shrinks Who Probably Had A Higher Security Rating Than You.
Lying to Gillian may have been more of a symptom of his trying to play both sides of his story than being an evil so-and-so, but it was never going to go away. Really, he needed to back off right when things got serious, or decide, "Yep, she's the one," and resign as a UC agent. A shame, though. Gillian deserved being romanced and respected and treated like the amazing person she is. And not to have to hide it.
But anyway. You just know they went out for some serious drinks after this scene, and fell hard over unpacking each other's hurts, between being invaded and tied up, and totally missing that your own Deputy Warden was running a bling ring, culminating in a dead inmate.

Sabotage (2014)
Tumblr media
Arnold Schwarzenegger (a personal favorite of mine) hasn’t lost it. Too nasty to be fun, Sabotage is not a good film, but it’s not because of him. The problem is that none of the characters contain even a shred of likability.
John “Breacher” Wharton (Schwarzenegger) leads a DEA team that's gotten greedy. While raiding a cartel warehouse, they steal $10 million and hide it in the sewers below, masking their crime with an explosion that destroys the vault. When the money disappears, Breacher, James “Monster” Murray (Sam Worthington), his wife Lizzy (Mireille Enos), Joe “Grinder” Philips (Joe Manganiello), Julius “Sugar” Edmonds (Terrence Howard), Eddie “Neck” Jordan (Josh Holloway), Tom “Pyro” Roberts (Max Martini), and Bryce “Tripod” McNeely (Kevin Vance) no longer know who they can trust.
You could cheer for a group of corrupt officers if they were enjoyable to watch, but these people aren’t. They joke around and throw some good-natured insults at each other, but they don’t seem like friends. When a traitor shows up in their midst, it doesn’t feel like a betrayal because you never feel that this unit was a well-oiled machine. With each passing scene, they differentiate themselves less and less from the bad guys they stole from and you stop caring. Arnold’s Breacher isn’t quite as detestable as the rest. Instead, he’s given a lame backstory about his wife and son being violently tortured to death. GrEaT. Even this I could’ve looked past, but the film is needlessly bloody, and not in a good way. When you consider the ending (which to give credit where credit is due I didn’t see coming), I doubt some of this would make sense on a re-watch. I don’t want to give it away, but there are some Saw level kills here that no one in real life could’ve done. I know there’s a reason for the deaths to be as bloody as they are, but the red herring is so ineffectual I can’t imagine anyone being fooled by it.
Aside from Breacher - whom you begin to dislike more and more as the film progresses for ineffectually leading a team of no-good thugs - the one character you might sort of like is Olivia Williams as Caroline Brentwood, a police detective investigating the murders. I guess she’s ok, but the writing just makes this movie as appealing as the sludge at the bottom of a garbage can. Combine that with an unconvincing romantic subplot and there’s just nothing to like. The action scenes aren’t impressive and the last one we get feels completely unnecessary. There’s just something about Sabotage (what does that title have to do with anything?) that leaves you feeling gross.
Even for Schwarzenegger fans, Sabotage is a hard sell. Its lead never gets to show off his charisma, the plot isn’t particularly memorable, and none of the characters are enjoyable on any level. There’s hardly anything to like but at least it moves quickly. Since it doesn’t actually generate any rage, I’ll just label it as bad and forgettable. (On DVD, August 2, 2017)
