Obsessed with this cat gif

Insufficient of you were impressed with it when I added it to a random post, but I can't stop looking at it. So I went searching for its origin story.

Apparently, the cat's name is Maxwell, and he used to look like this:

Which is pretty damn cute, and not nearly so pissed off looking, so we can only assume that he did not appreciate his spinning 3Dification.

Apparently, since becoming 3D and spinning, he has become An Meme. Originally he was added to a video game, but has since had many videos made in which he spins to music.

I'm proud of him and all who spin with him.

[Edit:] some people are being a dick in the notes about how apparently the cat's name is actually Jess and they just called it Maxwell in the game. Sometimes you gotta be aware that OP might just be a very ill person trying to have a little joy about a fucking spinning cat and sometimes when you're very ill you don't check everything as carefully as you should. This was not a misinformation campaign, guys, it was just me finding a little joy about a fucking spinning cat. Be kinder.

I'm so tired. TMA Owl House au.

Okay. Instead of covers there's gods, so everyone's more like warlocks. Head of the Isles, Jonah Magnus, unified all witches centuries ago by placing a system so that everyone can only make a deal with one god, having a ceremony on their 16th birthday and training for all their childhood to be suitable for said god.

Since then the Isles have been ruled by a Head, all of whom are to make pacts with the Eye. Eyepocolapse rules as well, so all the warlocks are under the authority of the Eye. Every other God also has a representative acolyte, like a coven head.

Jon the human getting transported to the demon realm as a child, chasing a weird spider. So he's almost like Anne from Amphibia, he's just hiding out in the woods for a few years until local magicless witch finds him.

Said magicless witch is Georgie, cursed as a child to be barred away from ever making a pact by her inability to feel fear. Her and the Admiral, her weirdly powerful cat, take Jon in and they all immediately become friends.

The Institute is where most warlocks train to take in their god. And within the institute is the Archives, a program supervised by Elias (current Head of the Isles) himself, where Avatar Representatives take on an apprentice.

There's Tim who learns under Nikola Orsinov. His brother used to be her apprentice as well, but died soon after making his pact with the Stranger. Tim plans to make his pact with the same god, seeing if he can bargain for his brother back and maybe learn to harness Stranger magic (one of the most difficult pacts). And maybe kill Nikola, who is rumored to be the one to take Danny's life.

There's Sasha under Micheal Distortion, who has had a knack for the Spiral since she was a baby. But she hates it, the attention from teachers and from her god hates the illogicalness she causes and the need to tear her friends (even if Micheal says they are all to be fake) from the in side out with lies. She's here to tear the Spiral apart from the seams, mapping it out and finding patterns.

And then Martin of the Lonely under Peter Lukas. He was taken in as a boy to be part of the Lonely, and has gotten quite good at banishing people to his domain, summoning and disappearing into the fog, and finding lonely people to leech on, even without a pact yet. The latter ability is the reason he's friends with Tim and Sasha, the only two apprentices in the whole place that don't want anything to do with their god.

Let's get into the Avatar Representatives!

Enrique MacMillan of the Buried, obsessed with finding the supposed "hidden treasure" on the Isles. He takes no apprentices.

John Amherst of the Corruption, able to make a person fatally ill with a touch (though they don't die unless he says so) or with any object he inscribes his magic into. His apprentice is Jane Prentiss, who let's bugs live under her skin and seems... borderline enamored with her god.

Maxwell Rayner of the Dark and his assistant/field agent/dragon Manuela Domiguez. The Dark has the youngest apprentice, Callum Brodie, of the whole Archive, a prodigy with the ability to spin tales of monsters and make them true, as long as a person is thinking of them in the dark. Rayner is pretty aloof, so Manuela usually attends to meetings and Callum's studies.

Agnes Montague of the Desolation, one of the newest Avatars, yet to take an apprentice. Not much is seen of her, but other people with the same god tend to not like her much, calling her a spoiled brat or a child protégé. Rumor is she burnt her mentor to a crisp while she was an apprentice, earning her the Representative position.

Oliver Banks of the End, taking over after Nathaniel Thorp went missing. He is generally outlasted by the other Representatives, not exactly well liked for his tendency to give prophesies about their deaths at the staff parties.

Jared Hopworth of the Flesh, earning the Representative position after Angela had been fully consumed by her god. He's rather experimental in his practices, and will try magic out on himself.

Trevor Herbert of the Hunt, never really seen at the Archive. Or at announcements or really by the Head at all, actually. Elias probably prefers that, as Trevor does not act like he's of as much importance as he is. Him and his apprentice, Julia Montauk, are usually on excursions to kill monsters or discovering new Hunt magic practices.

Peter Lukas of the Lonely, coming from a long line of Lonely Reps. He never planned to take an apprentice, but Elias forced him to make use of Martin, the boy he took in years ago, and mold him into a Rep so he doesn't become too powerful without someone to control him.

Newest Rep, Melanie King of the Slaughter, gaining her position after Alfred Grifter had quit. Certainly angry enough to be a Slaughter Avatar, she is reluctant to take the job after she said the Slaughter "betrayed her" by mutilating her leg and leaving her blind. But Elias let's her keep the magic and gives her the position, mostly if not to keep an eye on her.

Micheal Distortion of the Spiral, formerly Micheal Shelley before a higher up tasked him with studying the god. His apprentice, Sasha James, enacts as his assistant, telling her to make friends to lie to and to study her innate Spiral magic.

Nikola Orsinov of the Stranger, not much is known about her, funny enough. Her apprentice is Tim Stoker, motivated by his brother and his brother's death to be part of this god.

Simon Fairchild of the Vast has taken many apprentices over the years, claiming them to be part of his family. His most recent apprentice is Mike Crew.

The Web of course has a Rep, even an apprentice of Annabelle Cane, but no one knows who they are. The only thing Annabelle ever publicly refers to him as is Mr. Spider. Even Elias doesn't elaborate on the mystery to the public.

And of course Getrude Robinson of the Eye, having not taken an apprentice since her last one, Gerard Keay, was taken by Elias to be his personal guard. But after Jon the human is caught sneaking into the Archive in his own burning curiosity, Elias forces her to take him as her apprentice, much to her dismay.

But a human? Oh ho HO. Those guys are terrified of everything, and soon all the gods want the human to be theirs, even if he's under Elias's and Gertrude's direct protection.

And even when Georgie offers him to stay with her, a safe haven where Elias won't find him, Jon refuses. There's just... so many new things to discover. He wants to figure out who Elias is, why Gerard works with him, who the Web rep is, what Gertrude's deal is... he can't just leave when there's so much to uncover.

Plus, Tim and Sasha are right. The best way to take down the operation is from the inside. He keeps in contact with Georgie, consigning to study in the Archive, where everyone is trying to kidnap/convince/possess/kill onto their side, to help them take it down.

The phone screen whirs to life to reveal… quite a peculiar place. Darkness creeps at the corners of your vision, and everything in the room is tinted slightly green with the night vision feature of the camera. One by one, some notable features become clear as the camera slowly adjusts to the dim light.

One- a stack of takeout boxes and bags that teeters ever so slightly to the side, but balanced with enough precision to remain standing for… who knows how long.

Two- a cat tree with various tattered felt rats and strings with bells on the end hanging from the ballasts of the fortress, obviously well used.

Three- an electric keyboard in the corner of the room, dusty with manila folders propped up where sheet music should be.

Four- a desk with two monitors and a high-backed swivel chair (what’s on the monitors is unclear, as they’re too blindingly bright to be picked up by the camera.) It’s facing away from the computer. It’s also occupied! She has picked up on the camera recording her a while ago, curiously following the lens with a catlike quirk to her lips.

this is more than a few days late ik but i'm currently at a summer camp job where i am very busy!!! Hope this lil ramble is worth the wait! So, where to start 🤔 My Kepler Lives AU is something I’m currently tending on the back burner of my mind, but the seed was planted during my finale liveblog in June 2021 when I finished Wolf 359 all the way through for the first time! I did not see Kepler’s mini redemption arc reveal coming AT ALL and it FLIPPED A SWITCH in my brain. I already thought he was fun and an interesting character, but this long con was like catnip to me. Insert all the things Tumblr folks tend to say about their blorbos here. I needed him to have to live with the consequences of his actions. I needed him to have to define himself without Goddard. To define himself and his relationship with Jacobi without Goddard (and reconciling everything with Maxwell).  And with this, I can’t recall now exactly which came next, but I know the first major step was conceptualizing how Kepler could still be alive. Thankfully, the handwavey sci-fi of the Dear Listeners provided an answer. I know I’m not the first to invent the wheel that is alien clone Kepler, but I was hit with writing inspiration for a spin on Lovelace’s Change of Mind episode, but make it post-canon Kepler coming back. This idea became Special Episode: Performance of a Lifetime. Idk if you’ve read it since Kepler enjoyer already, but I used the fic to really find my interpretation of Kepler’s flavor of repression and play around with some cute SI-5 interactions while also laying a foundation for what Kepler Lives AU could be. If/when I get to writing this, I see this as being its prequel.  Beyond that, I have a massive outline document of my various SI-5/Kepcobi story ideas and lots of snippets and scenes jotted down as I had inspiration. I have a few broad start to finish outlines, but I’ve never done longfic before, so my thought process is that if I’m going to do this, I’m going to write a full first draft and then begin posting as I revise it. I have a Pinterest board, a Spotify playlist, plenty of memes, and lots of conversations with @wurmzirkus behind this idea. I imagine I’d write it as alternating Jacobi and Kepler perspectives and might have some alternate character POVs (such as Lovelace or Hera) as extra content.  Additionally, I see the fic including a brief time skip but being almost immediately post-canon. Shady Goddard subplot. Jacobi and Lovelace friendship and Lovelace and Kepler unlikely friendship that pokes at some interesting reflection on what the SI-5 dynamic was with Maxwell and where they all are now. Maxwell haunts the narrative. Jacobi takes Kepler in. Kepler adopts a street-cat, teaches a local kid chess (understatement of the year, believe me when I say little Miss Lydia is one of my FAVORITE OCs I have ever created), and is beloved by all the farmer’s market ladies and a local knitting circle. Hera has freedom via the internet, but still connects with all crew via an Amazon Alexa type set-up.  Additional fun to set the vibe: Stream the song Magnolia - Gang of Youths for Jacobi mindset upon returning to Earth imo and unironically Love Lockdown - Kanye West for part of my Kepcobi POV.  Gotta go! Rabbits in Autumn

Looks really nice that Maxwell, May and Sam are enjoying some Autumn time together playing in the pile of leaves. It does look Autumn to me. But however they can always explore the Autumn Forest since that what Shadow normally does when he wears his Autumn. But I sure hope I might add one for Tory and Caleb soon if they want to explore the Autumn side with their brother.

Shadow R 😺🗡️: Mmhmm. The masks are alright since they wear them anytime one of them gets sick. But that's something to talk about another time. But I'm sure I can always have the three tag along with me and Spot into Autumn Forest since it does look nice inside the forest. But we have to be careful cause there might be a chance there are some Animal Crossers and Yokais about.

Looks really cool he got a Motorcycle even in his color. Even Vanilla and Rita will love that. I bet it can be really cool if that happened with Shadow, Spot and May got on that Motorcycle like a Teen Titans reference where instead of encountering the Source, they had to encounter Lisa's Yokai OCs like Venoct Jr. And the Kyubi Twins.

Pomeranian dogs. They're not actually my number 1 favorite dog breed (though they are up in that ranking) but, for Reasons That Escalated, I have now put into my own head the belief that spotting one even from afar is a sign of good luck for the remainder of the day. Don't doubt, it is.

Maxwell the cat memes. The music is wholesome, the cat is so cute and looks like mine, and it spins.

Pollen. I know a lot of people are allergic and struggle because of it, and I am very very sorry, but I happen to not be allergic, and I find it pretty pretty pretty!!

What I call the "dead hearts" in my mind (it's actually the very first time I mention this to anyone). A dead heart is when you find something, whatever wherever, that just so happens to be shaped like a heart <3. It can be one unexpectedly heart-shaped object, it can be an accumulation of several objects forming a heart together, it can be a half of a torn appart thing that got ripped into a heart by chance. It can be a sticker that's fallen to the ground, it can be a tag on a wall. It can be bird poop or a flower petal. I take it as a sign to remember that the world "has heart" or something. Or I don't, I just find it cute. I try to take a picture when I spot one. To be honest, it all comes from the clip for the song "Dead hearts" by Stars (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GuaWQIbCLJE) which is one of my favorite songs. It made me notice heart-shaped things more.

The 1st of April. I find the concept of sneaking paper fishes onto people very funny and entertaining. And, not to brag, but I have managed to stick some to people who remained unaware for quite a long time... 🐱‍👤🐳
