(Venting below. Beware. In fact...Turn back now. "Abandon hope, all ye who enter here" )
Tumblr media
This reminds me of the time fans of The Maxx comic book tried to gatekeep fans who got into the series through the cartoon first and then only afterwards started collecting the books.
Good thing I didn't mention i also like the Sengoku Basara stage plays. Hate to get dinged for liking Sengoku Basara in "the wrong way". ~_~;;; What does it matter how I got into Basara or which medium of Basara I like the most? We're both Basara fans! I even went out and bought the game! But nooo~ Gamers are like "if you don't like the games the most, if you gush over any other type of Basara, if you don't like the same thing I like in the exact same way I like them, then you're not a real fan" ("and that means I get to lord my superiority over you plebes!"). JFC I'm sure Capcom is happy to get money through any format. That must be why every year they're announcing new Basara merch and cafe collaborations.

Capcom's Basara Twitter started posting pics of their Sanada Yukimura rice cookers this month, and I'm super excited about them! (https://twitter.com/BASARA_CAPCOM/status/1413415182013923329)

This is why Twitter is a hellsite, and I still love Tumblr.
Post to Twitter and some rando will cherry pick your phrases to make the worst extrapolations and try to make you feel bad about yourself. But I can literally post the most vulnerable stuff on Tumblr and no one will say anything. Even less chances for something negative. The most that'll happen are reblogs without comments---that's at the MOST. I can literally post my own picking apart of someone else's sentiments for the worst interpretations and rant about it (like this post right now), and no one will say a goddamed thing. I can vent for my mental health, say someone tried to make me feel bad, then get on with my life.
I know 1 thing for sure: I'm never posting reaction thoughts to Twitter ever again.
I was literally only posting positivity and someone tried to imply I'm not a real fan of 1 of my favorite series. They tried to make me feel invalid, for saying I like a thing that they likely also like. What the hell is the matter with Twitter? I'm sticking to Tumblr instead.
BTW when The Maxx gatekeepers tried to gatekeep other Maxxheads, the rest of the community immediately called out the gatekeepers, and the comic book author defended the fans of The Maxx cartoon. But something tells me when it comes to the gamer community on twitter, I shouldn't hold my breath.
I'm sticking to Tumblr.
(Can you tell I have depression and social anxiety? Ugh. x_x;;;;;; )

Sam Kieth’s The Maxx thirty years later....
Tumblr media
In a world somewhere between Mike Leigh’s Naked and Dr Seuss, moving at the speed of a gag manga with the intensity of the writing of James O’ Barr, comes Sam Kieth’s masterpiece The Maxx! Join us in celebrating thirty years of this incredible story that has touched the lives of so many, exploring the darkest recesses of the human experience, illustrating the wildest dreams of the unconscious mind to meditate on what it truly means to carry on. Cartoons and publications come and go but....The Maxx is forever. Above is art from Wizard issue 20 by Sam Kieth himself

Long ago, The Maxx was spoofed as The Taxx, followed by The Taxx 1/2, written by Bill Maus and Don Chin. (With both titles illustrated by the former) Copies of these rare parodies have gone for hundreds of dollars on Ebay. They say next to death, taxes are the one thing you can count on, unless their out of print we guess.
