get to know: puffin

Puffin, future hunter, trained by Tanicus.

Not much is known about Puffin’s origins. He was discovered by Tanicus and Comet in a bundle of sticks and dead undergrowth, though they would’ve missed him entirely if it hadn’t been for the pitiful whines he’d made.

Immediately brought back to the camp, the older wolves worried about what to do with him. Neither of them had the parental instincts, and Meira had been out at the time. It had been a bit of a scramble, but after making him a soft nest and warming him up, a decision was made to look for another wolf that would be able to help look after him and any other pups that may find their way into the pack. 

As he grew, Puffin and Tanicus were more or less attached at the hip, and Puffin views Tanicus as his adoptive father, who has always been patient and kind with him. A young wolf full of ideas, Puffin hopes to form his own hunting party one day, and he can usually be found practicing his stalking, which coincidentally is Tanicus’s role in his own hunting party. He gets along well with the other pups, except for Figaro, who shadows him constantly, and Moth, who he seems to have some sort of rivalry with.

I feel like talking about my ocs

I'll just stick with the main ones for now

Warning: very long post beneath the cut, I tend to rant when talking about my ocs

The first is Zazita, A Khajiit thief and one of the Dragonborns (more in that later). She has pale silver fur, A white belly, blue eyes, black hair tied in A braid, and black v-shaped markings down her forehead and back (because I have no pictures of her and don't feel like drawing). She's the Guildmaster of the Thieves Guild and a Nightingale. Her favored weapon is the bow. She is something of a chaotic force, short tempered, and protective of her friends. I'm bad at writing personalities ok? I like to imagine Mercer Frey never especially liked her as she reminded him of Karliah with the archery and everything.

Next is Leana, an Altmer vampire mage. She has a very proud, superiority demeanor, and has no qualms about killing people- She's the Listener of the Dark Brotherhood. She has pale golden skin, glowing orange/yellow eyes, and dark reddish hair that she leaves down to the small of her back. Also, her ears naturally point down instead of up like most elves. Fun fact: She's seven and a half feet tall! (Roughly 229 centimeters) Her favored weapon is her array of spells, specifically lightning spells. Pretty cold and standoffish, but much warmer and friendlier around her friends.

Thirdly, Natnela, a Dunmer werewolf. She has blue-gray skin, shoulder length, curly black hair, and heavily lidded dark red eyes. Please understand that she is nineteen (in my universe, elves age just about like humans for the first twenty to thirty years) and is almost just a child. She does what she thinks is good and tries to be good to others, even at the expense of her own feelings. She's kind, but also timid and if you ask her to do something, she'll likely feel pressured to do it. For reasons unexplained, she draws Daedric activity like moths to a flame and the Vigilants of Stendaar have an "attack on sight" rule. Her favored weapon is her two swords, and I forgot to mention that she is Harbinger of the Conpanions.

Next, Meira, a Bosmer and the second ever Dragonborn, now a ghost who vibes with the others. I completely twisted canon to make it so that Miraak still existed but she did help defeat Alduin with the Elder Scroll. She has dark tan skin, White blonde hair in a pixie cut, one brown eye, and one green eye. She's also pretty small and slim. Her favored weapon is her warhammer. She's about a blend of all the other's personalities, because I get influenced by myself and cannot stick to a personality. I don't know if they existed at this time, but she was a Nightingale and that's why she gets to be a ghost, Nocturnal lets her out because Nocturnal is a cool mom.

--Important detail-- I broke the universe a lot with this one, but basically I let Meira's spirit stay in the Twilight Sepulcher, while her soul reincarnated into three babies being born across Tamriel whenever a worthy baby was born, because the Dragonborn is just too powerful to reincarnate into just one person. These babies were fated to meet, because, you know, they have the same soul, pretty much. Zazita, Leana, and Natnela are this part of the cycle's main characters, which is why they're friends.

Now we have Meira again, but this time it's the other Meira's descendant (every female in her family has been named Meira, as a way of honoring the original). I broke the universe some more by making the Thu'um genetical. This Meira happened to travel to Skyrim, and got tangled up in all the Dragonborn stuff. She embraced it, though, and even helped defeat Alduin. She has light brown skin, solid black eyes, and stark white hair in a top bun. She's actually the only one who wears war paint, hers being dark purple in three blobs that look like grass blowing in the wind (use your imagination ). She also has pale purple lipstick! Fun fact: she's five feet two inches (157 centimeters) as a fully grown adult, and skinny! Making her very very small. Her favored weapon is also a warhammer, and her favored friend is Marcurio! They are best friends. They are not dating. They will never date. Okay? Okay. Her personality is sarcastic and snarky, but very curious about everything she doesn't know. She'll tease and squabble with you but would literally die for you in a heartbeat.

I really like Katsumi the fox! Do you have a backstory for him?

ive got bits of it here n there,,

katsumi previously worked as a hitman and would take out whoever was put on their hitlist - their last request being overseas, requested by the leader of the VVISP squad - verdigris v. 

after being caught off-guard by having their sender appear at the scene, verdigris requested that, with katsumis agile and stealthy work, they take out sonic, deeming them capable of doing so

on their way to sunset city, katsumi rescues meira, who had been under attack by badniks. as they introduce themselves to one another, katsumi learns of the war going on and of the resistance, to which meira was shocked that they hadnt known about it, let alone come to the warzone of their own accord. when asked why, katsumi says that a friend called them over. assuming that meant a call for help, meira asks katsumi to join the resistance, seeing as they were able to handle a group of badniks without the need of a weapon. katsumi accepts, figuring that they would be able to find sonic through them - cue present katsumi, who finds themself helping out the resistance and begins to forget about their target the longer they stay with them.

🌻 who’s your wolf’s best friend?

Moth’s best friend would have to be… Opal. Though he tries to ban her from his den, often times whisking her to a different area when she comes to see him, they get along well despite their differences. Where Moth is tidy and by the book, Opal is all over the place, and has destroyed his careful organizing one too many times when trying to initiate a play fight. She will listen to him prattling on about herbs even though it makes no sense to her, and she’ll always bring him something to eat when he seems too busy to get something himself. He actually didn’t like Opal at first because she was so carefree and wild, but now he couldn’t imagine a life without her around.

🍋what’s your wolf’s least favourite thing about themself? their favourite?

Moth’s favourite thing about himself is his mind. He knows his mind is built for his role as the pack’s herbalist, and he thinks he’s brilliant at it. He knows that he’s smart, and though he is young, he’s been approached more than once by the other wolves with queries about their health, and moreover, he isn’t afraid to march right up to any of them and tell them to get their butts into his den for treatment. He finds it easy to match the right medicines to the right illnesses and while he thanks Comet for that in part, he believes that he was put in the world to heal. He enjoys his role and his organized and precise way of doing things is a big part of that for him. 

🌰 what does your wolf do for fun? 

Moth’s favourite pastime is something he wouldn’t be caught dead doing in front of another wolf, and that’s chatting with the birds. There is one particular crow that he meets frequently while foraging for herbs, and though their conversations can be a bit of a struggle, it’s really a highlight of his day. He values his time with the birds, and if he knows where they can find a spot of prey, they will give him spare feathers of unique herbs they’ve found in their travels. He finds it a bit embarrassing, because probably the only other wolf that would give the birds the time of day is Meira, who he thinks has a bit of a screw loose sometimes, but he could truly leave the camp feeling frustrated and return later completely at ease after one afternoon with the birds.

🌱is your wolf where they want to be in life? if not, what would they be willing to do in order to accomplish their goals?

For the most part, Comet is satisfied with his life. He has faith in his packmates and no true worries, though he is nervous about the pending winter and how they’ll fare. Sometimes, he wonders about what it would have been like if Meira had been the one to find him instead. Would he still be the leader? He doesn’t think so, and he would gladly let her take the reins if that was the case. He is a good leader but it still feels unnatural to him. He’s the type to step up if there’s no one else around to do the job, but he wouldn’t be one to challenge someone else. A long term goal he has in mind has to do with who will succeed him. He’s still young, but he doesn’t know if he wants his pack to be ruled by his bloodline or who is the most worthy. He feels weird about the prospect of choosing an heir with the limitations of his own pups. 

🥀 what’s the worst thing your wolf has ever done? what’s their biggest regret?

This is a deep regret for Comet. Figaro, a newer addition to the pack, had three brothers. Comet’s original intention was to take the four of them in, as they were all pups at the time, but tragedy struck in that moment. He was patrolling with Kid, who he sent back to the camp earlier than expected - he was going to go foraging for herbs and figured it would be boring to anyone else but Moth - and he discovered the pups close by to a cougar’s hunting ground. He was only one wolf, so he grabbed Figaro and began to head back to the camp when he came face to face with the cougar. He escaped, though just barely, with Figaro in tow, but by the time he was able to round up some of the other wolves to head back for the other pups, there was no sign of them. Really, there was nothing he could have done in the moment - he was lucky to get out of there alive with Figaro at all - but he can’t help but wonder, if he’d kept Kid around, or gone in a different direction out of the cougar’s territory, would he have been able to save them all? Somewhere in the back of his mind, he hopes that the pups made it out of there, but the reality of the situation suggests the opposite. His guilt makes him avoid Figaro most of the time, because he just can’t face the only one he saved.

🌾how does your wolf feel about their pack? about their pack leader?

Winnie doesn’t have much of an opinion about Comet, per say, but she, like some others, usually turns to Meira first in a time of crisis. That’s not to say Comet’s a bad leader, but Meira’s wisdom and approachable demeanor make it easier for Winnie in particular to discuss any worries she may have. About their pack in general, Winnie is very proud of her position as a scout, and though she’s still learning the ropes, she really doesn’t think any of the other wolves would do any better in her place. She kind of thinks she’s the bee’s knees, in that aspect. Something she’s pretty sour about though, is that she thinks Condor has special treatment as a lone hunter. Everyone else has to travel together - Meira still joins her when they’re entering new places - but Condor gets to do his own thing and it really rubs her the wrong way. She also doesn’t really like how willing the older wolves are to invite newcomers into their pack. She feels that no one gets vetted thoroughly enough, even though she herself was taken in without any show of worthiness. Winnie likes to keep her circle small, and the growing pack can make her a bit uncomfortable, at times.

🍂 tell me something about one of the wolves who’s less prominent in your lore!

I’m gonna talk a little bit about Slate here, because a) he hasn’t been introduced yet and b) he doesn’t have any backstory as of now. Slate is a pupsitter alongside Fern and Bronze. He’s a very shy and sweet wolf, and he’s good at his role. He isn’t close to anyone in the pack, but currently he is taking care of Winnie’s daughter, Poppy (SPOILER :D). He’s in truth a bit lonely, and while he loves raising the pups and the comfort of the pup den, he has a deep longing for something greater. When he’s not taking care of Poppy, he sneaks off to the furthest mountain, and climbs up high so that he can clear his head. He imagines his future a lot of the time. Will he have a mate someday? Will he have pups of his own? Would he ever be asked to change roles? If he was more open with his pakmates, he’d probably find that he has a lot in common with Tanicus, and I could definitely see him becoming close friends with Figaro once he’s older. In all honesty, if it wasn’t for his apparent wolfishness, he’d probably make a good pet. He isn’t a fighter by any means. Even though he knows basic defense moves, the younger wolves absolutely destroy him in practice fights. :P
