thank you all so much for sending well wishes and good juju. as le Turtle mentioned previously on her update....i and my family unit arrived at the inlaws at about 230-300 am tuesday. we are safe and just waiting things out for the time being. Hoping we will have a home to go back to once Ian gets his slow moving 450 mile wide ass out the way and power has been restored. Because that this point power is a given thing we will lose and for a substantial amount of time given last time (with Irma) it took week. tho admittedly our governor did decide to get properly prepped this time around and Line trucks have already been called in to safe areas to be dispatched to where they are needed as soon as the storm is cleared. 

(and if anyone that is reading this is or has family or friends in that line of work that volunteered or were assigned to this emergency call for help--thank you so much. you guys make all the difference in disasters like this we appreciate you/them SO much.)

but yes a bird and family are in a completely different state so we’re very much okay and out of Ian’s way. :) just please continue to keep our house and home in your thoughts. It and everyone still down there that chose to or couldn’t leave is going to need it.

Advent Calendar: Day 21 @multi-mused​

Even after nearly seven years, it still feels weird to her to see his cabin ~and it’s always been his, even when he deigned to share it with her~ decorated for Christmas. One demigod celebrating the birth of another, elevated above and beyond him and his kin in martyrdom, the Living Word gone from the world. He does it for her, knowing how deeply Catholic her roots are and how even knowing her and how she is, he chooses to honour that slim belief she’s never divested herself of. Now he does it for their son, too. Styxx, tucked into his bed and dreaming. She’s tried to leave him free to choose his own path but in a lot of ways he will always have a foot in two worlds. Divine like his father, earthly like his mother. Greek and Hawai’ian. Though he was born semi-awakened, he’ll never be a sleeper and for that she is glad. She stands in the living room, staring at the flickering fire with her hand wrapped around a coffee mug. She doesn’t see anything in the flames that tell her what the next year has in mind for any of them; whatever fates there are have been notably silent in that regard. Though as they’re in the middle of the Makahiki, she sees no reason to disturb the peace by being demanding. She feels him long before he settles in behind her, looming over her like a monolith as he always has. An ache of longing comes over her. He wraps his arm around her, his hand spanning from just below her lungs to somewhere just south of her belly button. It’s another olive branch, offering her an embrace rather than pulling her close without question. She leans into him. Covers his hand with her free one. Without speaking a word, she tells him how beautiful everything looks. How amazed she is that he’s put it all together, that Styxx will be absolutely enthralled with the gleaming little bike that looks like a replica of Zarek’s own motorcycle. That she looks forward to reading and listening to him read the books. She knows there’s also dinosaurs, legos, and a host of other things beneath the tree. There’s also several boxes festively wrapped with his name on them, though she made absolutely certain that she didn’t even think of them so as not to ruin the surprise. It’s the same reason why she does not go traipsing through his thoughts to catch a glimpse of what he might have considered for her. She takes a sip of her coffee then carefully sets it down on the nearby end table. The dip and turn doesn’t remove his touch and when she’s done, she turns and leans in again, this time pressing her cheek to his chest, just below his heart. It still echoes inside her own, that phantom pair of beats just a tick off from her own pulse. Once distractingly unusual, it’s become a comfort to her, a living symbol of how connected they are, and will always be. She finally answers the unspoken question that lingers between them, the softest of her whispers, and tinged with everything she feels. “I am happy to be here, Kealoha, as is our son. More than that, I would hope you are too. And that you’ll still feel that way in the morning when we have to clean up.” While she is teasing him, of course, every word is laced with love. “Do you want more coffee, or should we go upstairs?” They do not require sleep, it’s simply a luxury. And while the bayou sees no snow, it is wickedly cold beyond the walls, the wind shrieking through the cypress trees.

Advent Calendar: Day 9 @multi-mused​

Riley steals a kiss at the crack of dawn from Seren, an angel in the flesh for pushing two thermoses into his hand, one life-giving coffee and the other equally full of cocoa. Noah, ten years old and somewhat enthusiastic, is already sitting in the truck while it idles in the driveway. Likely wrapped in thermals, heavy jeans, boots, and flannels just like Riley. There’s a heavy sleeping bag in the cab of the truck, snacks before they hit town proper, and eye toward breakfast and buying extra for lunch. The axe and hatchet are sharp, the tarps and ropes ready for Noah and him to bring their chosen tree home. He’s happy to know the day is going to be quiet and warm for Seren and Dalisay. Bread and cookies being baked, surreptitiously wrapping Noah’s gifts while he’s out of the house with no chance of getting busted… It’s less about the whole Santa situation ~his sister’s over thirty and still implicitly believes in Ol’ Saint Nick~ but wanting to maintain the mystery and wonder and seeing his truest surprise. He’ll do the opposite for Dal when Sere takes her out shopping for last minute little things, and he’ll be the one wrapping her gifts, too. Certain paper for Santa, certain paper from Mom and Dad and Big Brother. Christmas is what Riley considers to be their anniversary. At least of their first date, which had been the three of them at the zoo, taking in the light displays. Only a few days after literally running into Sere at the store. Best mishap of his life, really. Their family had grown, as had their love for each other, and not a day goes by he doesn’t understand he’s a lucky man. And one that really needs to knock this year out of the park, because she deserves better than to feel like it’s all and only about the kids. “Mmm,” he breathes as he breaks the kiss and pulls back. “Boy’s gonna freeze to death in the truck if you keep spoiling’ me. But while we’re out tree-hunting, I want you to think of how you wanna be spoiled. And I don’t mean the whole ‘whatever happens, I don’t mind.’ thing you do because you don’t want to make waves and because you’re sweet.” She does that so often, putting herself last even when he asks her point blank, and this time he isn’t about to let her. Worst case, he can call up his sister and see what her advice is but things between them haven’t been that great and he’d rather not look like an idiot. “So just…think about it and let me know. If you have a great idea, text me. I do mean anything. Say you wanna go to Tahiti tomorrow, done. If you want me to go and get a new house? Done. Literally what ever you want.” Riley winks and smiles. “Because I love you.”

Thank you so very much to everyone who has decided to follow me. I appreciate your enjoyment of my work, especially since I have no set schedule and a dozen open WIPs. Here's to another year:

Rules for submitting a request for this event!

Anon is allowed! Character ages are irrelevant.

Reader vibes are appreciated: afab or amab + pronouns is enough.

Choose a One Piece Character OR a Crew. A singular Character may result in a more intimate piece, choosing a crew may result in a more platonic vibe.

Finally, include ONE of the following phrases:

~ Sweet ~ Semi-Sweet ~ Bitter-Sweet ~ Bitter

And that's it - that's all you need. Below is an example =D

Bonus: Select an AU \o/ If you want, and you do not have to, you can select the Universe for the backdrop of the piece. You can specify Canon, but also any of the AUs I've currently written. If you're not sure what the AU would be technically, just reference the story title.

Please just things *I* have written. I won't use someone else's AU unless I've talked to them about it before hand, and I haven't done that for this event ^_^

Final note, and while final, kind of important - if it hasn't been obvious from the start, the baseline for all these requests are going to be that SOMEONE has amnesia. Be it the reader or a character.

99% it'll be the reader, but if inspiration strikes different, I'll write different.

If inspiration takes a Dark Turn, it'll be tagged accordingly.

Starting off the year with some abrasive angst is a good way to scrub things clean and enjoy the rest of it. Or something. (I've been wanting to write an amnesia-themed series of one-shots for AGES and this is really just an excuse to help facilitate that 😇💖)

May 2024 bring you joy in such abundance as to diminish the pains of years past. And if such is not your fate, then may you have the capacity to be kind to at least one other person, and in so doing, make the world's pain a little less.
