Haircut Vinicius Jr 
I was only stepping one foot inside the house when I heard loud music. Nothing strange living with a Brazilian, but laughter was being heard in the living room, followed by the sound of a clipper. 
We weren't supposed to invite someone today, as he wanted the day off for us to two. I sighed anticipating people in our living room.
" Amor!" he called
" I'm coming" 
I dropped the grocery items on the kitchen counter and made my way to the living room. 
Vinicius had the gentful thought of lowering the music as I came in. 
I didn't know, even to this day, how he could put a smile on my face the second I saw him. After all this time together, I had the same feeling, all lovey dovey whenever he was there. 
" A haircut? Again?”
" An impulse”
" Please don't die his hair blond" i said to the barber before my hand was caught in Vini's as he wanted me closer
" how was it?” 
“Good but it's already hot outside” 
“Not only outside princesa” 
His flirty comment earned him a tap on the shoulder before he took the opportunity to plant a kiss on my lips 
" Vini, I didn't know you were whipped 
Oh irmão, you have no idea " he laughed 
I sat on the couch watching him, being treated like a princess. He loved these moments, and getting his hair all fresh, everything precise.  I moved into the kitchen to eat something but, when I came back a special song came into play. 
He was intentionally provoking me.

The idiot. 
He did it on purpose. 
Only to bother my heart blaugrana. 
He was looking straight at me when I appeared in the room and laughed at my disgusted face. 
" Am I missing something? 
“She hates the song”
“Not the song the lyrics”, I said, pouting 
“Why? “
“She is a barça fan”
“Oh" the look on his face was enough for Vini to explode in laughter. 
“Do you see who I deal with on a daily basis?” 
“Since it's so insufferable, why don't you go date a Madrid fan while I text Pedri? " 
I said joking before leaving with Vini singing awfully loud. 
“Where are you going, amor ?”
“You’ll see”, I said with a wink.
I shouted goodbye to the barber and went upstairs. 
 I had to concede that I started to follow his team, even if the catalan club would always have a special place in my heart. It was hard during the Clasicos, and I used to tease him wearing a Gavi or Pedri shirt instead of his own. Which  led to a jealous Vinicius chasing after me around the house. I smiled at the memory and decided to play with him even more than my original plan. 
Oh boy, he would be disappointed when he will see me come back. I know his mind would think of lingerie or something along those lines for after the barber”s departure but it will be different. 
I took off his hoodie for the home barça shirt that he somehow got me at a game. It was an original and I knew it took him some self control to ask for it, but he did it anyway, knowing how important it was for me. 
I quietly made my way downstairs, my phone grabbing his reaction. I passed my head to see him impatiently waiting, shirtless. He didn’t want to waste time. I smiled looking at him and almost stopped my prank but then he called me
“Princesa !”
I made myself shown and I laughed intently at his smile quickly dropping, soon replaced by a frown and an opened mouth ! 
I somehow managed to stop laughing and pressed the play button to let the hymn of FC Barcelona ring out in the living room. 
He got up, covering his ears, and said
“Oh my God”
He managed to take my phone in his hands, stopped the music and then the recording with a devilish smile on his face. 
“Diabinho”
I ran but it didn't take him long to capture me in his arms, making an escape impossible. 
“In no way I would have imagined this. You need to take it off “
I squirmed to not let him do it, but as soon as his warm hands came in contact with my skin I stopped. He knew he won at this everytime. One look, one touch and I’m a goner. 
“Alright, but it suits me doesn’t it ?” 
“No, you know what suits you ?” 
“ No “
“White, or..nothing” which earned him a shot in the shoulder before he tossed the shirt God knows where in the house, leaving me in a black bralette. 
He licked his lips at the view, clearly enjoying it more than the blaugrana kit. 
“Admit it was funny “
“Barça’ s a joke, i’ll tell you that” another shot 
“Just kidding amor
but i’m the jokester in this relationship 
“Seems like you have competition 
“We’ll see about that ….”
And with that, he carried me on his shoulder, my face kissing his bare back as he slapped my butt 
“ My revenge will be terrible…
“Like what ?”
“Like this” another slap and he dropped me on the bed before kissing every part of my body, taking his damn time to arrive on my lips. 
“Bebê”
“What ?”
“Kiss me” 
“That’s not what I'm doing ? “
“You know what I mean”, I said pouting
He laughed before ghosting his lips upon mine 
“ Eu te amo, even if you support the enemy”
“ Eu te amo ,even if you play for the enemy”

It was that time again, the one day a week that Melinoe absolutely dreaded. Well, one day a week if she was lucky and didn't get covered in blood, sinew, and muck from the top of her head down. Yes, it was hair washing day.
She grimaced to herself as she stared down her reflection in the mirror, a rather pretty ornate one that was large enough she could see her entire body in it and that she'd convinced Astarion to part with. He probably just took pity on the fact that her tent was still rather plain and uninteresting. He definitely took pity on her for that, if she was honest, because she'd laid thick on that point as her way to convince him.
Her two braids looked an absolute mess, stray hairs sticking out every which way and a few pebbles lodged into twists. It wasn't cute. Not even a little bit. She always complain every wash day, and yet she had no intentions to ever cut it shorter. Wyll, bless his heart, had made that very suggestion once in such a kind way. Lae'zel suggested it the second time she had to wash, though the githyanki wasn't so... warm about the suggestion.
Luckily, the entire camp was on one of their travelling days on the road. There wasn't any real civilization in sight, so far as she knew, so they got a few blissful days without any having to save the day. Of course, she could always just decline going out and about with Rein when he asked if she wanted to tag along, but she rather enjoyed the excitement they always fell into.
Washing her exceedingly long hair was an all day thing, and usually she just went down to the closest river alone and sang to herself to pass the time. But today, she actually wanted some companionship. With a few sponges, soap, and oils tucked into her designated wash day bucket, she did a little stroll around camp to decide who might be so lucky as to get asked to spend this time with her.
The camp was surprisingly quiet, likely just because everyone was enjoying the brief moment they could just lounge. She could have asked Rein to tag along, but she figured he could use the rest more than anyone. The tiefling hummed to herself, a hand on her hip as she debated before Aljari's familiar figure caught her attention.
She certainly enjoyed his company, not to mention he was rather pleasant on the eyes and she had no complaints about the idea of getting to stare at his pretty self all day.
Filled with purpose, Melinoe sauntered her way forward, slowing down when she neared him and bending forward at the waist to playfully greet him in a sing-song tune. ❝ Good morning, my sweet scholar. Would you care to do me the absolute honor of keeping me company while I go down to the river for the day? ❞
—— ❝ Unless you're too busy. Then I suppose I'll just have to go lonely all day by myself. ❞ she allowed her voice to take on a little whine with her addition, not serious of course, but still playful.

AU AU AUs of choice, how would Sun and Moon react respectively to hearing Robin hum/sing on the job or from the other half of the house?
Answering for pre-reveal/ before the dynamics kinda blur together uwu
Main: Dusk takes a moment - he's used to banter, and an always vigilant Robin. So this is new, and before he can think better of it, he'll tease them with the newly acquired pet name "songbird." Will immediately regret it when Robin huffs and stops, whining and pestering them to continue for perhaps the entire mission. Later in the dynamic he may start humming/ singing to get them to join in again, and later in the dynamic, they might <3
Sun is busy pining, so mostly he does just that - depending on how close it is and how far they are in the friendship he goes from a happy little acknowledgement to himself to theatrically sighing with a hand pressed against the wall, wishing it gone, to maybe even just humming along loud enough for them to hear, inviting them to take it to the balconies or the backyard where they can share a space <3
Reverse: Dawn will do his damndest to pretend he's not hearing anything. He knows if they notice he's actually listening really, really intently, near reverently, they'll stop immediately and take offense somehow. It's rare enough they let their guard down like that, and he won't risk breaking that moment. Might find himself humming the songs to himself when he's alone later <3
God, man, Moon's just straight up pining. Sorry, but at this stage he has No Game, and apart from getting distracted and listening in for as long as he can he just. does nothing. If he likes the melody himself and not just because he heard Y/N hum/ sing it he'll look it up himself, maybe listen every now and then, and give himself away when he starts humming it where Y/N might overhear <3
Hatchling & Reverse Hatchling: For the neighbors very little changes, except that even Sun is more hesitant to reach out, and probably just sticks to mere pining. Both of them do it a lot though, lots of pining and lots of lamenting the fact that they cannot get closer to this symbol of an unbothered civilian life (oh, sweet summer children), that they have to stay away - they're so bad sorry not sorry
The agents have a bit more wiggle room - putting this after the fuck up and consequent apology in those timelines, neither will want to give Robin any indication that they don't enjoy their playful side, so any criticism or shushing will happen at worst in a tense situation, though Robin would be quiet in those. (Well, except maybe humming the Jaws theme when a group of hostiles is looking for them, and laughing at whatever hissed reprimand they get back - but that's on purpose annoying, not enjoying music for itself)
Dusk is more reserved than as a junior agent - he enjoys it, but feels like he's intruding when they let their guard down like that. He tends to not acknowledge it, doesn't look more than he has to, but stays quiet. It's like if he talks to them they will notice he's still there, intruding, and the moment will shatter, rather than realizing that they never even forgot that he's there, and let their guard down because of him, not despite <3
Dawn allows himself much more than as the junior agent - he looks, and he listens, and he smiles very obviously, may even throw in an affectionate tease or two if Robin doesn't seem too taken aback once they notice his attention. If he feels like they're shy now that he noticed, he'll hum a few tones, just to get them to start up again, and might hum along in the future, too <3
Dynamic Swap & Reverse: The neighbors are. Not even really pining, but a bad cocktail of emotions. Some pining, sure - but mixed with "Oh they can be happy, they can sound like this, it's just never in my presence" and the regret of how wrong they took things. Sun is huffier about it, more in denial, might walk away when he hears only to find himself trailing back trying to catch a few more notes. Moon wants to leave, feeling like he's overstepping, but keeps finding excuses to stay and listen just for a bit longer, just because it's one of the few times he heard them with their guard down
The agents on the other hand? The agents continue creating a cringe blast radius for everyone around Robin and them and neither of them are sorry
Dusk will annoyingly ask for an Encore whenever the opportunity arises, bribing Robin with food and sometimes even mission details to "come on, can you do the ABCs?" (or any other ridiculous children's song). He's a little shit and absolutely aware of it, one step away from playing announcer for their little impromptu performances. But he stays quiet for the singing itself, only perhaps humming along if the moment is quiet enough <3
Dawn I have to tell you might just propose a duet because how could he not? There's his equal at work, the senior agent who has acknowledged him and respects him, with the most beautiful singing voice, and he's supposed to not join in? No, he has no brakes (whether he should need some I'll leave to you) and he's having way too much fun indulging that he'd ever think about how he's laying it on really thick <3

Hazbin Episode 1 Liveblog
In order to avoid this post getting Way Too Long, I'm going to make one post for episode one, and one for episode two!
I will say, I'm kinda sad we don't have a 'proper' theme song/intro, just the little jingle :( I do get it, but ah well.
Oh my god the commercial is even better in full.
How the fuck did he get Charlie to keep the name if it was still him???
Al's so fucking offended they're making him use a camera he made it one giant middle finger. I love it.
The voices are definitely going to take a bit of adjustment. It's probably because I've rewatched the pilot a zillion times, though.
I like how Alastor didn't even look at Angel. "Never going to happen!"
Awww, Charlie's ringtone for her dad is cute.
I DO really love Keith David as Husk right away, he suits the role perfectly.
"I like being forced!" and I love you, you weird little gremlin. Hoping for some good CNC stuff with her now, tbh. She'd be fun for it.
The flat delivery of 'crack is expensive' made me wheeze out loud.

Something about the fact that the 'touch my parts!' guy is a completely shapeless slug-creature instead of just keeping the dick offscreen makes it funnier.
Oh, I love Adam. The fun kind of punchable prick.
The animation seems a bit... overacted? I've noticed it all along but with Vaggie in the scene where she talks about making a new commercial especially. It sort of felt like they wanted to match the pilot's very snappy energy but weren't quite sure how, so everybody makes kind of... aimless motioning instead of moving with purpose, if it makes sense? It feels more like 'moving body parts for the sake of moving things' over 'moving with intent'. It's sort of awkward and distracting. The shifting proportions don't really help, but I just know people are going to be Fucking Annoying about that when it's unfortunately part of the package of making a whole season at once by a regular animation studio.
Oh yeah, Blake's perfect for Angel, lmao. It was more of a change than I expected from the few lines we'd gotten since they sounded more like the original, but he's got the energy.
Charlie didn't know Adam ran the angel army? That seems like the kind of thing she should have known. I wonder if she was relatively sheltered growing up.
'Call me dickmaster' why do I get the feeling the Chaz fans will like him, lmfao.
Since I'm on Adam though, another little groan to myself about the lack of fat characters in the hellaverse that aren't either gross stereotypes or background characters. Adam falls into the misogynist type, (like, the 'redditor', you know the one, just sort of mixed with a sleazy rockstar) Mammon's literally Greed and a talentless abuser, the lady at the pound was gross/uncaring and ugly, and I still think the Nurse was the only one that really broke the pattern and I've seen approximately one piece of fanart or mention of her ever (despite her clearly-developed positive relationship with Barbie!) and it was porn. I'm allowed to bitch on this after people were so fucking annoying about how wanting Bee to be fat was wanting her to be a 'gross ugly blob' and then saying other people were being fatphobic for pointing out everybody's skinny. Somehow. Anyway.
Well, at least they got the vagina joke out of the way early.
I love how his deal isn't for anything that would genuinely screw Vaggie over, he's just pissed they want him to deal with TV.
The fact that the pilot's still 'soft canon' makes sense with how Angel just immediately starts admiring his new clothes without any surprise, since it's happened before. Also, Niffty with the Marilyn pose is cute.
Oh, I'm definitely going to like Lute. I still like my idea she used to be close to Vaggie but when Vaggie was cast down, she stuck tighter to the rules.
Adam's song is fun!
So season 1 takes place over the course of six months? Huh. I'm guessing we'll have some time skips if we only have eight episodes.
I wonder what the Heaven Embassy is for? I can't imagine it's only for meetings like that considering there's couches in the lobby and stuff. Can sinners communicate with loved ones in heaven or vice versa, maybe, just using the holograms?
Oh my god the Katie voice IS basically just Brandon's Bryce voice. Amazing.
Ohoooo? VERY curious who managed to pull off killing an exterminator, and 'can't let them catch on'... hmm.

I think she can reconcile those two ideas you mentioned, because she seems to lean into the parasocial relationship side of it all when she's not doing as well and needs the fans to fill that void and give extra support if you know what I mean. The I need you guys for my well being, to me it's not a very healthy thing to say or just the mentality of it all is not very healthy imo (just like when she said the I have been happier we were like hmm sure ok ig) and she has said it on this tour along with other similar stuff to the fans, who for all intents and purposes are people that she doesn't really know. So, it's kind of obvious (to me atleast) she's doing it because this tour and focusing on doing what she loves is giving her a sense of purpose and helping her not to think about the hard stuff going on. Who knows if outside the stage, it has been that easy. When she wrote the lakes, atleast part of her was more aware and conscious that some stuff is too invasive and crazy and she could live without it (atleast for the time being)
Okay, so, I totally get your perspective, but I don’t personally think that was she said is necessarily not healthy? I think she blurted it out in that moment because she was just at the bottom of a pit and she needed us (fans) more than ever. But I also think that she’s always needed us, because she’s:
1. an artist
2. who loves performing and
3. who loves external validation.
Does she occasionally rely on fans’s love a bit too much? Maybe, sure. But I really feel like Taylor has spent her entire life putting fans front and center, catering to them and making sure their experience is perfect. Remember when she was just starting out and she was a nobody and yet Scott was talking to the organizers of the concert/owners of the venues and saying stuff like “the bathroom is not okay, the line is too long, fix that”, because they wanted everything to be perfect for the fans?
I feel like most artists recognize the role that fans play in their success, but very few spend that much time and money end energy (just look at how many personal resources were put into the making of the tour movie) making sure that fans have an excellent experience. Especially at her level, most artists just don’t have the kind of personal and close relationship that she has with us.
And from that derives a lot of nastiness (like fans thinking they know everything about her and feeling a kind of ownership over ever), but also a lot of great things, like the fact that she genuinely cares for the fans.
So, yeah, I don’t think it’s unhealthy that she relies on fans, BUT there’s obviously a limit to that, and when in the same week you sing your songs in front of thousands of adoring fans AND you get harassed and photographed and followed at you best friend’s wedding, the line between what’s healthy and what’s not may sometimes become very slim.

Nature's Symphony (week 7)
Hey everyone, I took a little hiatus from posting for a week to recharge. I was able to go on a brief hike but forgot to take any pictures for you guys : (   I did see a thunderstorm this week, which was super cool but highly unsettling given that it is FEBRUARY IN CANADA, but I digress.
This week I’d like to address a fun question: Where is music in nature? Where is nature in music? I guess the first thing to do is to define music. Music is loosely defined as patterns of sound varying in pitch and time produced for emotional, social, cultural, and cognitive purposes (Gray et al., 2001). So, basically it is intentionally made sounds that vary in pitch. 
So, where is music in nature? Well to me it can be found in a variety of things. Something as simple as the wind blowing through the leaves of some trees can be a form of musical ambience, although by itself it isn’t really music because it isn’t done for any particular cognitive purpose. Instead, intentional sounds like crickets chirping and bullfrogs croaking form a musical symphony. 
Personally, I find pretty much all of nature's music peaceful and calming. Even cicadas, which I know many people find annoying, remind me of summer. So, I find them peaceful even when others do not.
Perhaps the most interesting music in nature is formed by more intelligent creatures such as whales. According to research, humpback whales use phrases similar in length to ours, and create themes out of several phrases before singing the next part (Gray et al., 2001). And, even though they can sing over a wide range of seven octaves, humpbacks still use musical intervals that are similar to the intervals in our scales (Gray et al., 2001). Their songs even contain repeating sounds that form rhymes! I knew whales’ had complex communication, but I didn't know it often took the form of a song. That's pretty cute honestly. The whales are actually singing to each other.
The second question is ‘where is nature in music’? In my opinion, there are two ways to look at this. The first way is that humans are ‘natural’ in the sense that we are evolved animals like whales and frogs, and so the songs and music we produce are inherently part of nature’s music. I think this view, while technically true, is less useful because usually we use ‘nature’ to mean non-human. 
The other way to look at it is how the natural world inspires human artists in their creation of music. There are tons of examples of this. There are songs that are more abstract in their use of nature, such as “Flight of the Bumblebee” that has no lyrics, but is meant to evoke the seemingly chaotic and rapidly changing flying pattern of a bumblebee. And, there are songs in which people directly talk about their experiences in nature. One of my personal favorites is Green River by Creedence Clearwater revival. It more directly reminds me of my experiences along ponds and rivers talking about the bullfrogs and dragonflies.

Shadow is born at eight years old. He's never been sure why, though later on he's told they need his prototype to emulate a proper life cycle. But when Shadow the ultimate lifeform awakens for the first time, it's at the age of eight.
He later finds out that he had been in creation for about one year. And that when the project began, Maria Robotnik was eight years old.
When Shadow meets Maria Robotnik, she's nine, and he is eight. Maria's blonde hair is cut short, barely reaching down past her jaw. Blue barrettes pin her hair out of her round face. She is wearing a turquoise shirt and blue leggings. It's pretty. Maria Robotnik is pretty.
When she is ten and he is nine, they're practically inseparable. Maria Robotnik is a year older than Shadow, but she says she finds him easy to talk to, even though Shadow often worries that year of difference must feel like ages to her. She tells him, even so, that even if he was less easy to talk to than she promises he is, she'd still love talking to and being around him. He makes life on the ARK so much more interesting, she tells him.
The ARK is the space station Shadow has spent his short life confined to. A small, modest life with Maria- a life full of tests and examinations and experiments. A life full of this ache in his body that swells up deep in his bones, and bubbles under his skin, bursting out like the erupting volcanoes he and Maria have read about in books every time his golden blood is drawn from his veins. As they watch the results intently. Maria makes life on the ARK feel more like living. Down time in her bedroom with the same few songs looping on their shellac phonograph records makes it feel like a real everyday life. Maria's music all sounds the same to Shadow, but it's a pleasant sound. Slightly crackly recordings, slow, melodic violin and swelling piano, old-sounding men with low, slightly slurred voices and women with voices that sound like honey singing slowly, and Shadow can't tell them apart, but Maria Robotnik- who knows the songs by heart- sings along and the words she sings are different, and that's how Shadow tells one familiar, lovestruck melody from another. And it feels like everyday life. It feels like living.
Shadow wonders sometimes if that's the feeling Maria is describing when she says "interesting". If she feels just as confined as he does, like an experiment in a test tube. She knows all the songs on the ARK by heart. She can recite every book in her room front to back and she claims she can recite them backwards, but the one time she'd tried to prove it, she got caught up in a laughing fit at it. Maria acts optimistic, easy to please, but Shadow wonders if she's really just deeply bored, feeling trapped, and seeking some sort of enrichment that Shadow brings her the way she does to him. A sense of normalcy. And that's what she calls "interesting."
She is eleven and he is ten when his suspicions are confirmed. Maria desperately wishes to go down to Earth, but she's confined to the ARK due to her illness. If she could have one wish, well...
I actually don't know if I would use it on that, Maria admits. There are a lot of things I could wish for. Grandfather says he'll find a treatment for my condition as well, so it'd be silly to waste it on that.
This is a hypothetical, Maria, Shadow reminds her. The idea of having one wish to do anything you want is silly in itself.
Maria shrugs, then nods. What do you think you'd wish for, Shadow?
Shadow thinks. There are a lot of things he could wish for, too. To understand his purpose and why he was created. To see Earth as well. For the researchers to find whatever result it is they want from him- the testing hurts, almost constantly, even when it's been a long time since the tests were actually performed. His bones ache, and his body always feels drained of blood. Like if he were to look at his arm right now, despite knowing it has never looked like that, it would be utterly emaciated, tight around frail bones and empty veins.
But one stands above the others in Shadow's head. One thing that has lived between him and Maria their whole lives.
I would wish for the treatment to come right away, Shadow says. So you and I could go down and live on Earth together.
Maria stops. She looks touched, and she gives Shadow a smile, her blue eyes sparkling. Then she giggles.
Then I could use my wish for something else, She says. In that case, I would wish that Earth could be a peaceful place, and come into a good future. Then you and I could go live there together, and experience it to the fullest.
She looks dejected, aware somewhere deep in her chest it won't happen like that. Or, at least, it will be years before it ever does. So Shadow gives her the best smile he can, and says, Maybe that will happen soon.
Maria Robotnik is twelve, and Shadow the Hedgehog is eleven, when Maria is taken away from him.
The ARK is going to be destroyed. Gerald Robotnik has been captured, and they're after Maria and Shadow. Alarms are blaring in Shadow's ears as they run, Maria's hand clasped around his.
Shadow is sealed into an escape pod. He's struggling, pounding on the glass, but it's strong. Despite Shadow's power, he can't get out. They must have made it that way to survive entering the atmosphere.
He pounds and fights to get out, struggling as Maria attempts to work the escape hatch, and then...
Then there's a moment where everything is quiet. Time seems to stand still. A loud bang, and then silence. He sees Maria's eyes widen as the bullet breaks through the skin on her chest, but he doesn't hear her scream. He sees her face twist, and her blue eyes fill with tears, but he doesn't hear a cry of pain.
She begs him, quietly, to fulfill her last wish. For her, and everyone on that planet...
But he has to go alone.
Twelve year old Maria Robotnik collapses into an empty, silent death as she pulls the lever to send Shadow down. And he sees her for one last time.
Her blonde hair, long and reaching past her shoulders, seems to float underneath her blue headband that keeps it out of her gently rounded face. She hits her knees, and her blue dress bounces down to adhere, as does her jacket, a lighter blue like the sky of the Earth he's seen in her books, but now colored a deep crimson around her heart. Her sapphire eyes glimmer for one last second. It's beautiful. Maria is beautiful.
And now she is gone.
Shadow is taken to Earth by armed soldiers in black. Their gear is adorned with the letter G. It makes Shadow think of the professor. He doesn't know where he is. He's surrounded by unfamiliar faces. He wishes the professor, or anyone from the ARK, were here with him.
He wishes Maria were here with him. But Maria is dead. And she will never get to see the Earth.
It's so unfair it makes the young hedgehog physically sick with despair. He spends days crying until he throws up, scratching his skin until it bleeds, all in a useless, desperate expression of grief. His fur is matted in gold stains, and he begins to fear he'll bleed himself to death.
They hold onto him for five years. Five years, he and the professor are imprisoned. Every single one of those almost two thousand days, he feels himself slip further into something dark that eats at his muscles with its sharp teeth, twists his face and his body, pulls the strings in his body to move it for him, and pulls at his brain, pulling, pulling until Shadow begins to lose the mind he once had. Every single one of those two thousand days, he thinks about Maria, and what they did to her.
During those two thousand days, he sees Professor Gerald twice. Once at the beginning, and once at the end.
At the beginning, the professor gives Shadow what he assumes is the equivalent of a blood transfusion, restoring what Shadow had ripped out of his veins. It's like the tests he performed on him on the ARK, tests he'd performed to use Shadow to find a cure for Maria. It was all for Maria, and the thought makes Shadow ill all over again.
At the end, Shadow is five years older, and Professor Gerald is as well. Five years older, and numb with shaking anger at everything around him. He's missing patches of fur where he's torn it out in angry fits. They've kept Shadow captive as a prisoner for so long, and every day he comes closer to maiming these soldiers. tearing their faces off their heads. Shoving his hands through their chest right where they shot Maria. The thoughts are driving him mad, and Shadow, still not old enough to comprehend his own brain, doesn't understand how mourning can do this to a person, and the monster it's turned him into. He's scared. He's scared of it. Scared of the idea of what he wants to do. Scared of the idea of hurting them, and scared of how much he seems to want it.
Until he sees the professor again. It's on a TV screen this time. Gerald is bound to a chair in a prison cell. He tells them how he's turned the ARK into a deadly weapon, something that will destroy the entire Earth, to make everyone feel the pain they put him through when they killed his granddaughter. None of them will be able to stop it, he says. This is what they deserve for taking Maria away.
The video ends with a gunshot, and Shadow screams at the noise as he sees that glimpse of the one other person he knew die right before him at these soldiers' hands once again.
Shadow is locked away. In another glass pod. He doesn't want this, not again. He thrashes, hisses, shouts at them to LET HIM OUT. They don't. He's a weapon to them. A threat. Something that needs to be contained.
The last thought that passes through his head as the frozen pod lulls him into a hypothermic sleep-
They think I'm a dangerous weapon? I'll show them dangerous.
Shadow was born at eight years old. He was never sure why, though many years ago he was told they needed his prototype to emulate a proper life cycle. But when Shadow the ultimate lifeform awoke for the first time, it was at the age of eight.
Fifty years ago, Shadow was put to sleep, in hopes he would be sealed away for good.
When Shadow reawakens for the first time, it's half a century later. He is still sixteen years old. And he's made up his mind.
He's going to make this awful place and everyone on it pay for taking Maria Robotnik away from him.

Daily reminder that while Hwayoung is in no way innocent and was actively an asshole to Core Contents Media staff members and playing coy about whether she was actually bullied or not, she is absolutely not the sole reason for T-ara's downfall and should not be painted as such.
I want to clarify some misconceptions people seem to have about the situation. At points I will be using other groups as reference points (NOT to pit them against T-ara) and also using my own opinions and speculation at certain points, which I will make clear to point out from the actual facts of the story.
For all intents and purposes, yes, Hwayoung is a nepo baby. Her father is rich and he was also friends with Kim Kwang-soo, the CEO of Core Contents Media, T-ara's old company (now known as MBK)
Hwayoung wanted to be an actress but Kim Kwang-soo thought it would be better to be part of an idol group to gain popularity first and then launch her own acting career easier. It is not unusual to use idol groups as a launching point for later solo music projects or acting so all makes sense up to here.
It should also be noted that T-ara had already worked hard to make a name for themselves. They released Bo Peep Bo Peep and Crazy Because of You, two massive hits that both sold over 3M digital copies and were on the rise to become one of the most popular groups of their generation. They faced fierce competition, having debuted alongside the likes of 2NE1, f(x), 4Minute and After School (2009 was such a strong year) and initially faced severe backlash for their debut performance of Lie. They even had to literally perform in the streets outside of malls during Bo Peep Bo Peep promotions to get people to listen to their song. The internet wasn't what it is now back days so they also couldn't rely on their fans spamming everyone online to listen to their songs or artificially increase views by watching the MV again and again.
So the original six girls had built a strong bond by training together (Jiyeon, Hyomin and Eunjung at least, Qri, Soyeon and Boram were kind of last-minute additions after Jiwon and Jiae quit) debuting and promoting together for a year and facing backlash and severe working conditions together. I imagine Hwayoung being added after they worked to make themselves known might have been a "yeah ok I guess" moment for OG T-ara. K-pop fans seen to be easily annoyed by constant lineup changes too so adding or losing a member after the group has already become famous is never a good thing.
Like I said, Hwayoung wanted to be an actress, but for the most part she played along with the idol part. That being said, I fee like CCM never made an effort to present her as an actual member of T-ara in their songs, the title tracks at least. She always felt like a featured act to me or a backup vocalist, not an actual member. You could argue Qri and Boram also got very few lines, but it's not just that, Hwayoung was supposed to be the new rapper or whatever so that Hyomin and Eunjung could start getting more singing lines now that they had someone else to do the raps but... In the first two singles Hwayoung participated in, What's Wrong and yayaya, Hyomin and Eunjung are still mostly doing the raps and Hwayoung gets a few adlibs, basically... So what was the point of making her the "rapper" then 😬 And then after that Hyomin and Eunjung stopped doing the raps completely but Hwayoung was still only doing adlibs and 2sec raps in the bridge. In Roly-Poly all the girls have mostly equal parts. Even Qri, Boram and Hwayoung, who usually got very few lines have the same amount of lines. But while Qri's and Boram's parts are actually memorable (Qri has the intro and the start of the second verse and Boram sings in both verses) while Hwayoung, who actually sings in both verses and the bridge, is still only doing adlibs and 2sec raps. In contrast, let's take 2NE1's I Am the Best, that released around the same time. CL actually sings more than an entire minute of the song, but because the parts of the other three are still memorable, it doesn't feel like she's hogging the entire song. Each of them has their moments.
But like I said it's not just about the amount of time you sing, Bora was consistently the most popular member of SISTAR and she, basically, got the same type of lines as Hwayoung after 2011. Hwayoung's styling and stage presence also fell off. She's taller than the entire group (I don't remember if Eunjung is taller than her but I think she's not) and she wasn't a very skilled dancer so it showed on stage. On top of that, her outfits, hair and makeup always looked like shit to me. But then again, the stylists and staff members said she was a nightmare to them so maybe it was intentional after all lol. But my point is, if you have a member that's not good at singing, dancing, is the rapper but doesn't actually rap and is dressed and styled worse than the rest of the group, when in theory she's the daughter of your friend, you're essentially making her yourself to look like the outcast.
What's ironic is that by 2012 things seemed to have been slowly changing? Her styling looks considerably better, she actually got sizeable parts in Day by Day and she was even picked to be a part of the We Were in Love collab with Davichi, where she also got lines and it became a hit so maybe if she hadn't started slacking things would have improved for her?
Then again, as I said Hwayoung had zero interest in being an idol, she wanted to be an actress, an she was literally the only one that CCM never booked an acting gig for. All the others (sans Areum) were acting. Even predebut Dani, who was supposed to become T-ara's ninth member, got to act in Day by Day's MV, so I'm not sure how important to her the fact that she got decent raps that lasted for more than 2secs in two songs would be. Not to mention, that she actually got back to sharing the raps as, in the unreleased version of Sexy Love, she's only doing the rap in the bridge and has to share it with Areum. Maybe Shinsadebt Tiger just hated her 🤣 I'm betting that if she was still in the group by Number Nine she would only get the "I'm addict I'm addict parts" 🤣😭
Now, it's also worth mentioning that T-ara were BIG in 2012. It was the peak of their popularity. They were the third most popular girl group in Korea, behind only Girls' Generation and 2NE1, and the third most popular K-pop girl group in Japan, after Girls' Generation and KARA. Jiyeon was winning popularity polls against Yoona. Yoon. A. They were still going strong and might have even overtaken 2NE1 too, especially considering how YG stopped promoting them properly around that time and with CCM wanting to turn them into a nine-membered group they were, essentially, declaring open war against S.M.. They had five different singles sell over 3M digital copies (Bo Peep Bo Peep, Crazy Because of You, Roly-Poly, Cry Cry & Lovey-Dovey, I actually think maybe We Were In Love did too?) which, before 2012's SK Music market inflation prices, was considered an astonishing feat. For reference, the only other girl group to have ever had five singles sell over 3M digital copies is 2NE1.
Take all this into account along with the fact that they were constantly flying back and forth from Korea to Japan to keep up with their extremely demanding schedule and, honestly, I can't really blaming Hwayoung for finding an excuse to weasel out of a few performances, we all would, be honest.
The thing is, that the Budokan performance wasn't just any performance. It's a very prestigious Japanese venue and even it it wasn't it's still a concert that people paid money to see. Idols may occasionally half-ass or lipsync performances on music and other TV shows but concerts are where they give it their all (or at least second gen idols did 👀) and all the other girls actually wanted to be idols so, maybe it wasn't a big deal to Hwayoung, but the rest of the girls had every right to be pissed about it.
Shading her on Twitter, while hilarious, was probably not a smart idea, because it was essentially the beginning of the end. Before that no one was really paying attention to Hwayoung's relationship with the rest of the group, and if she was actually being such a menace to the stuff, sooner or later someone would speak, and even if there were doubts about whether OG T-ara and Hwa were friends or whatever, no one would really question a possible expulsion from the group and company if it was a known fact that she was being rude to the staff.
And that was actually the official line by CCM. Hwayoung has been fired because she can't work well with the staff. But because of the Twitter thing and Hyoyoung, Hwa's twin, also (kind of) directly antagonizing T-ara online and Hwayoung agreeing with her, people started speculating and finding previous "evidence" of bullying.
CCM's silent approach didn't work. I get that maybe KKS didn't want to publicly announce that his friend's daughter was as asshole and a liar and the rest of the group was kind of done with it but why on earth would you literally throw your main (and let's be honest here, only) moneymaker under the bus like that? Why shoot yourself in the foot? I don't get it.
To Hwayoung's defense, she literally said "they didn't bully me, stop harassing them" at first... Before settling for a conveniently vague "I was going through hard times" line every time she gave an interview afterwards, but the first time she actually outright said she wasn't a victim of bullying.
But people didn't really care about that. T-ara's fall from grace was never in defense of Hwayoung. Hwayoung was not a very popular member to begin with so it's not like her individual fans were actively campaigning against T-ara, this is in no way a Jessica's individual fans vs. OT8 SONEs type of situation. They definitely lost a lot of the more "casual fans" and lost a lost the general public, but Sexy Love and Number Nine still charted within the top 10, so their core audience was still there.
My personal opinion, which is half fact and half speculation that is still based on facts, is that while they probably did not create a rumour, companies like S.M. and YG whose profits were being reduced by competition from CCM could have easily influenced it's spread. We all know how S.M. treats their former artists and YG also tried to block coverage of 2NE1's Coachella performance to reduce its impact and didn't they literally force Naeun out of Apink? Is it a stretch to assume they might have been a little too eager to help remove competition? But maybe they didn't even have to involve themselves personally.
Misogyny in the K-pop community was at its PEAK in that era. SONEs and 2NE1's fanwars with constant slut and body-shaming of the rival group's members, S.M. associate producer, Teddy Riley, LITERALLY calling the Wonder Girls flops and saying SNSD are better, Krystal and Sulli's and Amber's individual fans CONSTANTLY at war with each other, HyunA and Suzy's fans trashing the rest of 4Minute and miss A.... Need I go on?
Like I said, T-ara were on the top with GG and 2NE1, and their respective fans did not miss the chance to throw them right off when the opportunity presented itself in the form of a fabricated rumour. What's worse is that this is not even the... Worse fabricated rumour. SONEs started a rumour that HyunA left the Wonder Girls because of a PREGNANCY... She was FIFTEEN... Luckily this did not affect her career in any way.
So, next time you want to talk about T-ara's "bullying scandal", do remember that it was a combined effort of misogyny in K-pop, enforced by entertainment companies and fans alike, Korea's obsession with idols having squeaky clean images and never doing wrong (the women at least, a boy group would have EASILY gotten away with all of that), gross mismanagement by Core Contents Media and Kim Kwang-soo, nepotism, Hwayoung taking advantage of a tricky situation, and Hyomin, Jiyeon, Eunjung, Soyeon and Boram (because remember, like Switzerland, Qri was neutral during the War) deciding it was a good idea to ratio Hwayoung on Twitter after not wanting to sing "I likey likey this, I likey likey that" for the nth time.

The Locked Tomb + mewithoutYou pt. 6/17

This is the chillest song on the album (until it explodes, that is) and one of the most ambient. We have this slow groove, and in the background are distant vocals that are hard to discern while listening. This is an intentional effect, though, and there's a lot we can glean from hearing a voice buried beneath other sound and only barely being able to distinguish what's said. For TLT purposes, this lines up with the Lyctor experience (I feel I'm repeating myself so much by drawing comparisons between these songs and lyctors, but that's what happens when you have two pieces of art that portray a blending of spiritual experiences with relationships).
To briefly address the song title, yes, it's the Kurt Vonnegut reference that eventually became a meme here on Tumblr dot com. I've read Slaughterhouse Five once and so I recognize this and other Vonnegut references in mwY songs. However, other who are much more into his work than I am have done a better job analyzing these references. My understanding is that this saying, "Everything was beautiful and nothing hurt" is a sort of sarcastic mockery of those who believe that there was, is, or ever could be a time when death and suffering don't exist. I don't think we need to reach too far to see how this same idea is present in The Locked Tomb. The closest anyone comes to unironically embodying this phrase is Nona, until she remembers who she is, so the real meaning is proven true.
Going back to the song, I'm not even sure that the liner notes capture what this voice in the beginning actually says, but it does sound something like this:
Heard you call for me Saw you die for me Only you'd burn for me If only you'd come for me
Griddlehark. Campal. The third line is especially Campal.
These lines repeat and then the music starts to shift into a more sinister sound. We at last get the softly spoken phrase:
Everything was beautiful, and nothing hurt
Immediately, there's a raw scream and the rest of the song is directly quoting a John Dunne poem called "A Valediction: Forbidding Mourning" in this desperate, screaming vocal style.
"As we melt let's make no noise Oh the profanation of our love To tell the world our passing joys! And we, besides, care less to miss Our eyes and lips and hands." (but honey, I'm not who you think I am!) (I'm not who you think I am! I'm not who you think I am!)
The portions in quotes are from Dunne. I also haven't read or thought about Dunne enough to make my own interpretive conclusions, but using Dunne as applied to this song and then again applied to The Locked Tomb, we get some interesting images. This idea of two lovers or souls melting together to become one substance at the expense of any tangible form they once inhabited is...literally Lyctorhood.
The last two lines in parentheses could have a lot of applications. Jod. Nona. Harrow. Lots of characters have something in their arcs or something in their sense of self that would lead them to acknowledge a difference between the self they know and the self everyone else knows. And they may go beyond acknowledging this into hating it, so the vocalization of these lines in this song would fit that emotion.
"And so you'll be to me Who must obliquely run Thy firmness makes my circle just And makes me end where I begun" There's nothing wrong As I'll be somewhere singing all along No! Tell me, where have you gone, my love Where have you gone my love
Again, the quoted portions are from Dunne. I would go feral for the 7,584th time if circle imagery imagery became significant in The Locked Tomb in the same way that it is in mewithoutYou songs, but I don't see much there at the moment.
So, what's most interesting right now is the last two lines, "Where have you gone, my love?" This is repeated over and over, and is washed out by the music as the song reaches its end.
At the end of Gideon the Ninth, it's clear that Gideon dies, but there's also this transcendence and mystery about where her body actually goes. And we don't find out until the end of Nona the Ninth. So to me, this increasingly desperate and drowned out question matches this quest that some of the characters have of preserving their dead necromancer or cavalier across/through/somewhere to the left of life, death, and the River.
Musically, the end of the song sounds like drowning, perhaps in a River, and cuts off with this sound that's maybe like time traveling? What I'm saying is that if you were to sonically represent what being in the River is like, it'd probably be this song.

As a backpacker, one didn’t stay in a location for very long-- the definition was to literally travel and explore the world for the soul purpose of freedom and freedom was what Tokyo’s soul craved. Once they graduated from University, they felt the need to flee and their mind conjured up a long-term plan, which they knew would not sacrifice their happiness in comparison to a dead-end job. This would be an adventure. Along the way, they knew the opportunity would arise to meet some amazing people, eat nontraditional and exotic foods and travel to the world's finest places. Their map was practically covering ALL the 'seven wonders of the world and then some' locations and Tokyo didn't regret it one bit. Whether the places they traveled to like--- the Stone Hedge in England or the Taj Mahal in India-- were bombarded by tourists, they still found wonder and awe in their surroundings. So far, it's been worth it. At the end of the day, they had their Aunt Mae and her wife's unconditional love (and funding) to thank for such a broad dream.
Among the many faces they met and acquaintances they made, Tokyo recently fell quite fond of someone in particular--- which reigned of having every intention of knowing Iris. Part of them wanted to slow down just to take in the atmosphere and their new company, even though their physical itinerary called for moving on soon. Venturing out was better than not, even if sleep was eventually needed (however lucky for them, Tokyo never slept long). It would also be comforting to have someone more familiar of the area than themselves, so there was unsaid trust as Tokyo tagged along-- alike two young kids, excitedly holding and tugging one another's hands towards the direction of their destination. This was most definitely a date! Their metaphorical door for dating was always partially open, actually, not something they found themselves thinking alot about. So, it must've been a change in character around the brunette.
Stumbling upon the Karaoke bar, the biggest grin and matching dimples crept upon Tokyo's features. It was like words didn't even need to be exchanged, somehow the vibe was correct. "No, no, I'm not much of a singer, but--- oh nevermind semantics, karaoke is 'bout 'aving fun! I'm all for it." Truthful to their word, their hiking boots followed foot of Iris, through the lack of people and settled upon a nearby stool. Iris didn't just impress with the fact that out of all randomized music, British-Pop was given to her AND that she was incredibly talented in holding a note. The tidbits here and there gave it away to be Elton John and a new singer, Tokyo was caught mouthing along and bopping their mullet head. Iris definitely did serenade, included in just the airkiss.
By the time she arrived back, blush was upon pale cheeks. "Pish-posh! You were incredible," They took a sip of their mocktail through their swirly straw awhile their grin never left. "And very cute, cannot forget that." Subconsciously, Tokyo reached out to pat the side of her hip and stand a little closer. Were they nervous? Always. But that was because it was their turn to make fun of themselves, and make a god-awful impression, with all this direct attention on them. However, this wasn't their first rodeo. They just silently prayed that more GOOD music was in the queue. "I don't have the guts like ya to go random, so now it's my turn to serenade you with a favourite, how's that, love?" With a cocky wink, Tokyo placed their glass down and hopped up and onto the stage.
Exhaling sharply, their fingers flipped through the screen to find The Smith's song "There is a Light that Never Goes Out". The lyrics popped up and it made them feel extremely better, because it was one of their favourite songs and bands, even if the lyrics weren't exactly Karaoke worthy. Before their soft, crackling singing (partially due to nerves and just not being as talented as Iris), a mirrored air kiss was also thrown her way.
"To die by your side, well, the pleasure, the privilege is mine.... there is a light that never goes out..." As the song drifted off, Tokyo definitely felt more at ease, having known every word even with a not being totally on beat. There were claps just like every other turn, but they definitely felt like they needed an actual alcoholic drink after that self-deprecated disaster. But they continued to stand proudly and slid their way back and towards their date. "Well, that was something. But excuse me looking like a hot mess, I probably looked like a nutter up there," Tokyo brushed the sweaty locks away from their forehead before retrieving glass. Iris quickly made them feel comfortable, just like hanging with old friends back home, and that earned them bonus points. "Karaoke is fun, innit? What else do ya have up your sleeve?"

Woke up suicidal today, first time in a long time. I hurt myself, just a little, burned my hand to see how it felt. Dull and pointless. A beautiful day but I’ll spend it alone, no where to go, nothing to hold on to. I think I’ll drift along today, see how it goes. Maybe I’ll be ok today, who ever really knows. Loved by many but seen by few, always holding back because when I don’t I hurt myself with how much I love, I preach connection only to get attached, not fair to the ones I love to have them hurt me so, they should never have to know, how broken it all is inside. The basin resplendent, awaits my soul, the deep inside dark, the nothing at the base of everything, drink deep my cup and let knowing fade to nothing. Be at peace bleeding heart, may your broken pieces find purchase or purpose in the here after. Let the ones who loved me know, they did everything they could for me. I did everything I could for me and for you, I’m sorry I couldn’t see it through. CANNING Is there a story behind your stage name? RC) Well, one day Tom simply said let’s just call the band Canning. It was RCB at the time…definitely an improvement in terms of everything…haha… Where do you find inspiration? RC) Within moods and traveling…traveling creates an energy. FA) Different sounds and sonic textures; from random melodies and lines in my head. TM) Whatever catches my attention and sparks creativity What was the role of music in the early years of your life? RC) Absolutely loved music as a kid, so I’d put together little concerts with pots and pans for the fam. Must’ve been tough sitting through all that clatter but smiles were found. FA) Music has always been for inspiration, pleasure, and unexpected gifts. TM) Fun and purpose Are you from a musical or artistic family? RC) My sister Sally was a skilled pianist…then there’s a bit of history dating back to the early 1910s/20s. An act that went by ‘Canning Family Orchestra’, my Grandfather Claude being the drummer, toured around the country with between seven to ten musicians per tour during those times. FA) Yes, musical. TM) Yes, there are artists and musicians throughout my family. My mom played cello. Who inspired you to be a part of the music industry? RC) Jimmy Page inspired the want to be a guitarist. Peter Grant inspired the dive in and just do. FA) My father, I suppose. I was in studios often with him. I saw and heard some epic stuff earlyon. He did a ton of jingle and voiceover work in the late 70s & 80s among other things; many times, there were groups in studio A when he was working in studio B or C at in a facility… TM) Prince How did you learn to sing/write/to play? RC) I started to play guitar in fifth grade then picked it back up with serious intent while being a sophomore in high school. Since then it’s been a loving passion of continual learning and experiences. Writing was always present since the beginning. There’s always something floating around within the skull mater. As a child sitting at a piano banging out notes, ideas presented themselves. As for singing, which has been a by for more difficult path, there was a want to express more than just melody in a context of sonic notes…the need to vocalize ideas, emotions and connections was evident. FA) I learned to sing in Children’s Choir. My writing is still a process of improvising and then deciding what works best for the song; if I don’t get another shot at it- I just go for it. I’m kind of limited to that since I don’t read music. However, I’ve developed a pretty good ear for pitches and intervals… I can read some charts well enough… I’m still learning to play every day.
TM) I taught myself until I took lessons from Dwayne Thamm. He developed a sticking style and was The Bozo Show drummer years ago. RC) That was the Peter Gabriel ‘So’ Tour… FA) First rock show was Huey Lewis and the News in probably 1984. TM) Def Leppard How could you describe your music? RC) Our music is definitely not for the timid or the easy listener. It’ll get under your skin at times then gently caress your hair all within a few moments. All the emotions portrayed within the songs are representations of our lives which, as with many, is a dynamic rollercoaster. All we can say is… ‘Hold on…we goin’ for a ride!’ FA) Still working on that… Maybe prog guitar-rock with some twists? TM) Our brand of modern 90’s psychedelic rock Describe your creative process. RC) Not really much of a creative process but a life process. In life, it’s being a songwriter for me. The ideas can start anywhere but primarily the elements are discovered when lounging around with the acoustic in hand and playing with no direction…just playing music and allowing the fingers to roam free. FA) Listen to the song or idea. Try to fill out the idea/song with a part. Do not meddle too much. Do not overplay. Think of how my part best serves the music. Do my best to accomplish the goal. Revisit/assess the part if need be and change it. Stick with those changes if they work better. TM) Refer to Fritz’ response, but I hear busy sometimes and it might only make sense to me what I play. What is your main inspiration? RC) Waking up every day, experiencing what will become of the now. Always the hardest being in the present sometimes… FA) To live another day of possibilities and keep making music! RC) Definitely admire many musicians across the vast musical landscape of time…here are two: Franz Liszt – While studying music, I truly admired Liszt breaking and pushing the boundaries of what was considered acceptable music at the time…especially during intense periods of secular and non-secular music. Bjork – She is simply soooo amazing. Existing in her own realm, dimension and thought creating the new. There is no other. Hardest thing to acquire in this world of music is to find your own voice, sound and style that doesn’t pile upon others. We all have influences, including osmosis since birth but to be a completely unique individual sonically takes a level of self-realization, self-dislike and self-love that are a continual journey for all. Thinking she’s the furthest along in regards to musical individuality. FA) Herbie Hancock. Just a colossal talent from the get-go and so smart, musically, and otherwise. He is one of the greatest American composer/performers of all-time. TM) Jerry Garcia because he loved playing music more than being an icon. Did your style evolve since the beginning of your career? RC) Style has evolved parallel to the path of life. Might take a bit to realize sometimes but always continually moving forward. FA) Yes, I hope it evolves incrementally every day. Who do you see as your main competitor? RC) We do we so I guess that would be us. FA) A bassist with more/better skills than I, if they also have great feel, sense of time, and a better understanding of music within the context. TM) I don’t look at music in terms of competition. What are your interests outside of music? RC) Hanging with Escher (Pointer mix…he’s a sweetheart), having two slim boards attached to the feet pointed in a downhill direction…hopefully there’s no grass spots ahead. Making loud. If it wasn't a music career, what would you be doing? RC) Being somewhere on a mountain…instructor/patrol/technician…something related, but then playing après ski…music would always somehow be involved someway. FA) Probably fixing or selling old cars & hot rods or working in the recording industry in some capacity. TM) Putzing around. What is the biggest problem you have encountered in the journey of music? RC) Academia…it’s amazing to see today’s youth having a universal acceptance for the want to create and learn music. Years back the only acceptable path was classical studies by many. Today a child can join the School of Rock then be playing as an opening act, outside on a stage at their local festival with friends and piers all while it being okay. Reverse that and it becomes being an outlaw if ya just wanted to create, explore and groove on some beats/chords with friends. Being outlaws didn’t matter to us…we thrived on it. That was definitely the biggest hurdle, being accepted as an equal in terms of academia. FA) Finding the niche or the niche finding you – just doing your own thing. TM) Sheisters If you could change one thing in the music industry, what would it be? RC) Artists as a whole, would benefit from access to better support systems and career compensation for what they’re providing the world with. Government needs to realize this and equal out the playing field so all career minded artists can survive. Will this ever happen, probably not anytime soon. There are pockets that need to be continually overfed. This world would be a rather dull place if everything was gray in color and all we heard was monotone. FA) The industry valuing artists more appropriately in compensation for both live performance and recordings. TM) Centralized power Why did you choose this as the title of this project? RC) We write the emotional story, especially when it comes to lyrics. We like there to be a connection that the listener can find within their lives. Their own emotional story that relates to what we’re portraying in the song from ours. In the case of ‘Collide’, dreams can be a happiness in reality if pursued diligently. Within the daily monotony, that dream can be opposed, hence wondering if happiness is attainable. Passion & Action
This started as me trying to justify why I feel very little interest in reality but quickly spiraled so here we go:
Throughout my life there has always been something nagging at me a single question “why do you not pursue passion”, I for all intents and purposes have most often been a normalized gifted kid I did what I was asked to do and sat around looking pretty and reading for the rest of my time.
And yet throughout my life it has always been odd to me that I never truly developed any true passion for anything, yes I had my enjoyment of fandoms but that was more me trying to feed my knowledge hunger as such it always seemed to pass me by that... I never once acted outside of what i had been told i would like be it in media or among family.

These have always been some of the core moments of my life as beyond them i  had no true breaks from a consistent monotony throughout my early childhood but yet there lies an undercurrent here that i think needs to be talked on.
When interest or passion is expressed amongst young children especially those who are considered gifted the automatic response amongst many family’s is to make that child do them in a professional manner and not simply express passion to the child. And while for vast majority of my life I have known that the reason there is no passion is that my assortment of caregivers at that point in time were far too busy with work to have the energy for that sort of thing, it still leaves a bitter taste doesn’t it that we are not allowed to run and dance for those around us can barely muster the strength to breath?
When we are young we are taught to only act when told to never break away because it harms our caretakers when we do and so we follow along with whatever string of possibilities we are given. This however deprives us of action and this is starting to show amongst many youths today. I recognize it so intently among my fellows that it is horrifying in such a way that we have had this idea forced into our minds so hard we have no true capacity for action beyond it, The idea that we must simply follow what we are told because it is told and while many may find that it is simply meaning respect for our elders it is harder to defend that concept when you yourself are forced to remember the hours you have done the equivalent of staring at a wall due to the fear of punishment for even singing song.
in essence we are being deprived of passion in youth and subsequently the action behind it; and so i ask what is next for society to lose, voice or movement?
(time for obligatory note on how this is mostly a byproduct of a working environment designed on extracting your very soul for cents more in profit at the expense of everything in your life)
