maggie! my sister and I are planning a road trip to canada this summer so as a canadian, anything you recommend doing, any absolute must sees?
!!! Oooh, have fun!
I can only really give concrete recommendations for Quebec and southern Ontario, and the later with less than a year of experience - so if you're headed to the prairies or BC I'm not much help.
For Québec:
If you stick to Montreal and the touristy areas, you lively won't need all that much French! Usually people clock that you're a tourist and will switch to English if they can. Less likely the farther you get from Montreal and the Townships.
Goes without saying, try a good poutine (There’s an invisible S in there, we pronounce it more like.. poutsine lmao)! Don't get it from a big chain except maybe Belle Province or Poutineville, the very best I've had have usually been from lil cantines. If they’re not using fresh cheese curds don't trust em.
Also Beaver Tails (a fried pastry brand). Usually have lil kiosks near events and sinfully good. My brother and I go bonkers for them.
In Montreal proper, I'd recommend a walk on Mt.Royal! I forget if the inside skating rink at Atwater is still available this time of year, but might be worth looking into. Vieux Montréal is a nice place to romp around, especially around the canals and the Atwater market. Avoid driving in and around MTL it's a living hell, move around by bus or metro(subway) if you can, you can get day passes easy enough. St.Catherine and Mt.Royal streets usually have fun stores and restaurants to poke around in, and the gay village is great! I'm pretty sure most amusement parks in the USA are bigger than La Ronde, so don't waste your time with it.
Zoo de Granby is one I went to a lot as a child and they do great conservation work and have beautiful exhibits + a fun water park! Bromont is great for winter fun, but wrong time of year, and their water park can be hit or miss.
Both Bromont and Sutton are great for hiking (I have good memories of getting up to a lake on Mt.Sutton just as the mist revealed it, so cool). Apparently so is Owl's Head, but I've only skii'd there. Bromont is expensive and the cops are real sticklers, Sutton is a lot smaller and personally I think more cute and chill.
Lac Brome/Lake Brome is just about the most anglophone place in the province outside of Montreal! You can do a lot of kayaking, boating and even just driving around the lake is nice. It is a tourist town with its businesses catered towards Montrealers weekending there, so everything is closed Mon/Tues but open over weekends. Just a very cute and anglophone town.
Memphremagog / Magog is both an okay town and a really great lake, bigger than Lac Brome if you'd rather get on the water there. Also fun local myths of a lake monster >:3c
If you like murder mysteries, Louise Penny based many locations in her series off of areas in the Townships - such as Brome Lake Books('s old location) and Abbey St.Benoit (which has great cheese). There are maps to help her fans run around and see the locations irl!
Due to the dairy industry there's a lot of great cheese and icecream in general. Coaticook has great icecream and a cool gorge (my ex lived there), but it’s very French so you might have trouble.
A personal highlight: drive up the St.Lawrence. it's gorgeous, sometimes there are whales, and just. Amazingly beautiful. Fuckoff cold water tho.
There are a ton if beautiful national parks in Quebec; Bic is a highlight personally.
For southern Ontario:
Niagara Falls is a mixed bag: the falls themselves are incredible, absolutely awe inspiring (I remember getting to my hotel room after and writing in a frenzy - the MIST from them hits you SEVERAL HUNDRED METERS AWAY). BUT the area around them are a tourist trap, overpriced and iffy.
I haven't run around Toronto much beyond getting lost going to n from the airport, but I've heard decent enough things?
Iirc there might be more Freedom Convoy bullshit going on in Ottawa, so keep an eye on the news if it's on your bucket list.
Also have heard p good things about the national parks, almost went camping with the other grads before schedule conflicts popped up.
Haven't done much due to gradschool unfortunately :c
I also know that Alberta has an incredible dinosaur museum with some amazing specimens, and Dinosaur Provincial Park is teaming with big fossils (almost went on a dig there but Covid happened).
Hope some of this helped!

Happy new year 2023 from Tonari!
Tumblr media
Year of the Rabbit is upon us in 2023 and I'm just gonna drop some fun meta in accordance to this image.
Because I can.
Can't forget that Saitama did some bugs bunny stuff before.
Tumblr media
What he did on Moon of I.O is basically bending reality like he's a cartoon character. So it kinda fits with the rabbit and the moon mythos lol.
But I'm also interested about all the symbolism of the rabbit and the moon and the chinese zodiac.
In the Buddhist Jataka tales,[4] Tale 316 relates that a monkey, an otter, a jackal, and a rabbit resolved to practice charity on the day of the full moon (Uposatha), believing a demonstration of great virtue would earn a great reward. When an old man begged for food from them, the monkey gathered fruits from the trees and the otter collected fish, while the jackal found a lizard and a pot of milk-curd. Knowing only how to gather grass, the rabbit instead offered its own body by throwing itself into a fire the man had prepared. However, the rabbit was not burnt and the old man revealed that he was Śakra. Touched by the rabbit's virtue, he drew the likeness of the rabbit on the Moon for all to see. It is said the lunar image is still draped in the smoke that rose when the rabbit cast itself into the fire. The rabbit is believed to be a Bodhisattva. Han Dynasty poets call the hare on the Moon the "Jade Hare" (玉兔) or the "Gold Hare" (金兔), and these phrases were used often, in place of the word for the Moon. A famous poet of Tang China, Li Bai, relates how "The rabbit in the moon pounds the medicine in vain" in his poem, "The Old Dust".
When Westerners gaze at the 月亮 (yuèliang; moon), they may jokingly say that the moon is made out of cheese or that they see the Man in the Moon. When a Chinese person looks at the moon, however, they most certainly will see the Jade Rabbit (玉兔 Yùtù) standing under a cassia tree holding a precious elixir. Like the Chinese zodiac itself, the legend of the Jade Rabbit has many different origin stories. One of the most common stories in China begins with the Jade Emperor disguising himself as a beggar. Once disguised, he embarks on a journey to find a worthy animal to help him prepare the elixir of life. In this tale, the Rabbit willingly attempts to sacrifice himself as food for the beggar by jumping into a fire. However, the Rabbit is saved by the Jade Emperor, who then carries the Rabbit to the moon where he helps create the elixir of life. Those looking for the Jade Rabbit will find his outline on the moon with his pestle and mortar, mixing the divine elixir to this day. The concept of the Chinese zodiac has spread to other Asian countries, but other cultures have slightly different interpretations regarding the Jade Rabbit. In Japan, the Old Man of the Moon brings the Rabbit back to the moon to live with him because of the Rabbit’s great kindness. According to this myth, the image seen on the surface of the moon is of a rabbit pounding out mochi rice cakes, not the elixir of life.
About this elixir of life...I've thought about references to elixir of immortality before.
The elixir of life, also known as elixir of immortality, is a potion that supposedly grants the drinker eternal life and/or eternal youth. This elixir was also said to cure all diseases. Alchemists in various ages and cultures sought the means of formulating the elixir. In the 8th century AD Man'yōshū, 'waters of rejuvenation' (変若水, ochimizu) are said to be in the possession of the moon god Tsukuyomi. Similarities have been noted with a folktale from the Ryukyu Islands, in which the moon god decides to give man the water of life (Miyako: sïlimizï), and serpents the water of death (sïnimizï). However, the person entrusted with carrying the pails down to Earth gets tired and takes a break, and a serpent bathes in the water of life, rendering it unusable. This is said to be why serpents can rejuvenate themselves each year by shedding their skin while men are doomed to die.
I am distinctly reminded of the part where Sage centipede's carcass drops down on top of heroes while it bathes in ocean water. Heroes were definitely kind of doomed to just perish here, but Saitama parking a large ship avoided the disaster. Then pig god casually eating all the heroes allowed them to ultimately survive. Sage centipede and Elder centipede were notorious for being practically immortal because they just regenerated and shed their skin, so Garou had to destroy it's heart.
Ergo, removing the heart removes the source of lifeblood, so might be one to keep in mind.
Tumblr media
I can't forget how Pig god ate Evil Natural Water and how human body consists of mostly water and what it might entail cuz he ate evil natural water remnants.
Can't forget how Psykos also made Evil Natural Water and she has serpent motifs.
So if divine power is "elixir of immortality" and evil natural water is a construct of what may be just divine power, water and evil intent...checks out.
Oh and OPM God being in possession of elixir of life? Lifeblood? Yeah. Also checks out because the one below is depicted with little more than blood circulatory system.
Tumblr media
Makes you wonder why a samurai dude, I forget the name, who got cleaved in half somehow didn't die. And tank top master got brutally mangled and somehow...survived and is not worse for the wear. And Air got his neck pierced and his spine and idk, he's gonna be ok too right?
Divine power = elixir of life sounds appropriate.
Rabbit personality traits Let’s start with the impact of being born in the Year of the Rabbit on personality. Rabbit people are said to live life free from constraints and are in constant pursuit of their ideas. Because of their weak wills, however, they have difficulty achieving great things.  In addition, Rabbits are sometimes too guarded and delicate when managing human affairs and personal matters. While they tend to be tenacious and ambitious, these characteristics may also lead to jealousy when they don’t get their way. Those born under the sign of the rabbit do not like to argue, preferring peace and quiet. They are good listeners, excellent negotiators and tend to work well on a team. They can be artistic and creative but also have a strong desire to avoid stressful and risky situations. They can also be pessimistic and insecure and therefore are hesitant to make quick changes.
Sounds like an interesting year might be ahead of Saitama.
And finally, an aztec mythos reference, because OPM God's temple is basically an aztec temple.
According to an Aztec legend, the god Quetzalcoatl, then living on Earth as a human, started on a journey and, after walking for a long time, became hungry and tired. With no food or water around, he thought he would die. Then a rabbit grazing nearby offered herself as food to save his life. Quetzalcoatl, moved by the rabbit's noble offering, elevated her to the Moon, then lowered her back to Earth and told her, "You may be just a rabbit, but everyone will remember you; there is your image in light, for all people and for all times."
"Quetzalcoatl, in its literal sense, means 'serpent of precious feathers', but in the allegorical sense, 'wisest of men'."[6] Among the Aztecs, whose beliefs are the best-documented in the historical sources, Quetzalcoatl was related to gods of the wind, of the planet Venus, of the dawn, of merchants and of arts, crafts and knowledge. He was also the patron god of the Aztec priesthood, of learning and knowledge. Quetzalcoatl, the Aztec god of the sun and wind, air, and learning, wears around his neck the "wind breastplate" ehēcacōzcatl, "the spirally voluted wind jewel" made of a conch shell. This talisman was a conch shell cut at the cross-section and was likely worn as a necklace by religious rulers, as such objects have been discovered in burials in archaeological sites throughout Mesoamerica,[8] and potentially symbolized patterns witnessed in hurricanes, dust devils, seashells, and whirlpools, which were elemental forces that had significance in Aztec mythology.
Tumblr media
I mean yea, Feathered Serpent basically. Quetzalcoatl reference. And Psykos learned more than she wished for and according to her, became the ultimate being of intelligence.
A very interesting year ahead.
Unlike Tigers though, like last year, Rabbits are prey animals. And many myths talk about Rabbits making some kind of sacrifice and how appropriately we're also dealing with a dude from Tsukuyomi at the same time. Like oh em gee rabbit and the moon mythos oh em gee.

Happy WBW! I hope your week is going well so far! What are some superstitions / common beliefs in your world?
Hi Kraken! Thank you for the question💜
There are very few superstitions that I've included. When all myths eventually become true, simple misconceptions have terrifying butterfly effects. For example, ages ago, people tried to explain heat stroke with made-up noonwraiths, so now if the workers in the fields don't stop for dinner at noon, a noonwraith will appear to ask them riddles, and then torment them if their answers weren't satisfying. Demons (derogatory) like this are considered non-sentient pests. Does that count as a superstition?😉
Most of the common beliefs revolve around household spirits. We're talking about mostly harmless little demons (affectionate) that make your life more interesting, if nothing else.
A lot of it is either borrowed or adapted from folklore, but here's a selection:
Placing non-salted food behind the stove can lure in a friendly household spirit. They're particularly fond of curd dumplings.
They will multiply the household's fortune (probably by stealing from the neighbours).
They will be offended by damaging or otherwise disturbing stork nests. Which is a bit of a pain, when storks like to build nests on top of chimneys, blocking the air flow.
There are also other animal-related beliefs:
Destroying a swallow's nest will bring disease to the cattle.
Howling wolves foretell a famine.
Seeing a stork in flight for the first time in spring is a smile of Fate. It doesn't have any tangible effects, it just cheers people up.
PS. 'demons' refers to all supernatural beings that reside on the earthly plane or in the Underworld, so excluding dragons and Fate(s). They don't need to be outright evil. Most of them are morally neutral or amoral, although usually chaotic.

Cheddar has a long history dating back to the 12th century, in a community in Somerset, England. Its namesake, Cheddar Village, is a small town with gorges and caves that farmers used to keep milk cool on hot days. The myth behind the birth of cheddar is that a milkmaid forgot about a pail of milk in one of the caves. When she returned, she discovered the milk had hardened into the perfect golden goodness that we know and love today.
Soon enough, English monarchs developed a taste for it. There are records of King Henry II purchasing 10,240 pounds of cheddar in 1170; he declared it the best cheese in England. His son, King John, carried out a tradition of buying cheddar for royal banquets. King Charles I—who reigned in the early 17th century—apparently pre-ordered his wheels (a necessary measure at the time, given the high demand for cheddar), while Queen Victoria received a colossal wheel of the aged stuff—weighing more than half a ton—as a wedding gift.
While cheddar may have descended from the English countryside, it is hardly exclusive to the British, having migrated all over the world throughout the 19th century. British colonists who moved to America brought their cheesemaking techniques with them, and by 1790, they were exporting cheddar to their home country.
The mid-19th century was a time of modernization in both the US and the UK. In England, Joseph Harding—dubbed by many as the “father of cheddar cheese”—cleverly applied science to come up with reliable techniques for crafting this beloved wheel. According to The Oxford Companion to Cheese, he used a curd scalding method to obtain the desired fine texture for cheddar. He’s also believed to have improved the cheese mill, which breaks up curds into tiny pieces (a key step in making cheddar).
Meanwhile, in 1851, the world’s first cheese factory opened in upstate New York, and it specialized in none other than cheddar. More factories followed, and this large-scale production of cheddar proved to be extremely successful, efficient, and profitable. In fact, much of its output was exported to Britain, which was late to the factory game.
Given the fact that cheddar was the first mass-produced cheese, it’s not too surprising that it’s an ingredient in processed Kraft singles, or what everyone else in the world calls “American cheese.” In 1903, Canadian James L. Kraft moved to Chicago to sell cheese wholesale. He wanted to purposefully “recycle” discarded chunks of cheddar and in 1916, he came up with the recipe for the Kraft Single: repasteurized shredded cheddar and sodium phosphate. The product ultimately became a favorite in American households (and for many kids, their first taste of cheese) and was a staple food for US troops in both World Wars.
In the 21st century, cheddar is a ubiquitous cheese, especially in English-speaking nations. Whether clothbound or waxed, dyed or natural, or aged for a few months or a few years, it’s safe to say that cheddar will remain a classic favorite for many turophiles.

Calcium Chloride in Food: Is It Safe?
Tumblr media
Have you ever wondered how those store-bought pickles stay so perfectly crisp? Or why the cheese curds in your favorite cheese shop squeak so satisfyingly? The secret might just be calcium chloride. This mysterious-sounding ingredient pops up in all sorts of foods, but what actually is it? More importantly, is calcium chloride in food even safe? What Exactly Is Calcium Chloride? Here's the thing: Calcium chloride isn't some weird, chemical concoction designed to make our food fake. It's actually a salt, made from calcium and chlorine. Think of it like table salt's slightly less popular cousin. What makes it special is that food-grade calcium chloride is super purified, safe to eat, and has some unique properties that make it a rock star in the food world. Why Do We Put Calcium Chloride in Food? Here's why calcium chloride gets a thumbs-up for use in food: - The Crunch Master: It's the reason canned veggies and pickles stay firm, even after sitting on shelves for ages. - Cheese Whiz: Lots of cheeses, especially ones with firm curds, rely on calcium chloride for the perfect texture. - A Touch of Saltiness: Calcium chloride gives food a salty boost without tons of actual sodium. Bonus points for folks watching their salt intake! Is Calcium Chloride in Food Safe? Okay, let's cut to the chase. Yes, the official verdict from trusted sources like the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) is that calcium chloride is safe when used as directed. They label it as "Generally Recognized as Safe" (GRAS), meaning the amount in our food is nothing to worry about. Important Note: That doesn't mean you should sprinkle it on your popcorn! Too much calcium chloride can upset your tummy. But the tiny bit in food is perfectly fine. Fun Fact: Did you know that calcium chloride loves water? It can grab moisture right out of the air! That's why it's so amazing at preventing sogginess in foods. How Calcium Chloride Helps Your Homemade Food Projects Ready to unleash the power of calcium chloride in your own kitchen? Here's where it shines: - Pickling Perfection: If you're into making your own pickles, calcium chloride keeps them from turning into a mushy mess. - Cheese-Making Magic: Some cheeses need a little help from calcium chloride to get that signature texture. - Fermented Veggie Hero: A tiny bit of calcium chloride in your sauerkraut or kimchi makes for extra-crisp, flavorful results! (Trust me; I've tried it!) Where Can You Buy Calcium Chloride? You won't find it at your regular grocery store. Look for calcium chloride in stores specializing in canning supplies. It might go by names like "Pickle Crisp" or "Xtra Crunch," besides just plain "calcium chloride." Tip: Remember, a little goes a long way! Follow the directions on your recipe, but usually, about ¼ teaspoon per kilogram of vegetables is the standard. Calcium Chloride: Health Considerations While calcium chloride in our food is considered safe, there's always more we can learn about how it interacts with our bodies. Here's what you should know: - Calcium Supplements vs. Food: Some recent research suggests a potential link between taking high-dose calcium supplements (totally different from calcium chloride in food) and health risks for some older adults. The studies are ongoing, but it's worth being mindful of. - Negligible Calcium in Food: The amount of calcium you get from foods containing calcium chloride is tiny compared to what's in a supplement. Still, if you have any health concerns, it's always a smart move to talk to your doctor. Myth: Calcium chloride is a fancy way of saying salt. Truth: While they're both salts, the elements are different (calcium vs. sodium). That means they do different jobs in food. Calcium chloride is more about boosting texture and preservation, not just saltiness. Pros and Cons of Calcium Chloride ProsConsKeeps food crisp and fresh for longerLarge amounts can cause an upset stomach (though unlikely from normal food consumption)Contributes to the texture of certain cheesesSome research suggests a link between high calcium supplement intake and health risks in some older adults. The calcium from food is negligible.Provides a salty boost without excessive sodiumNot ideal for those who prefer to avoid all food additives or focus on whole, unprocessed foods Wait, It Has Other Uses, Too? You bet! Calcium chloride is a multitasker with a surprising number of uses outside the kitchen: - Melting Ice the Right Way: It tackles icy roads and sidewalks better than regular salt and is even safer for your furry friends' paws. - Construction Helper: Calcium chloride speeds up how fast concrete sets, especially in colder weather. That means buildings get finished faster! - Moisture Zapper: Ever seen those little "Do Not Eat" packets in shoe boxes or new bags? That's often calcium chloride working hard to keep things dry. FAQs About Calcium Chloride - Is calcium chloride safe in food? Yes, health authorities like the FDA and EFSA deem it safe when used in the amounts typically found in food. - Is calcium chloride vegan-friendly? Yes, it's made from minerals, making it suitable for vegans. - Is calcium chloride gluten-free? Absolutely! People with gluten sensitivities can safely consume it. - How is calcium chloride made? The Solvay process, which combines limestone and hydrochloric acid, is the most common method of production. - What can calcium chloride do to your body? In the small amounts found in food, calcium chloride is safe. However, consuming large quantities can cause stomach upset. - Does calcium chloride make food ultra-processed? Whether a food is considered ultra-processed depends on many factors. While calcium chloride is an additive, its presence alone doesn't automatically make a food ultra-processed. - Is calcium chloride a natural preservative? It depends on how it's made. Some calcium chloride is synthetic, while other forms are derived from naturally-occurring brine. - Why is calcium chloride in everything? It's not in everything, but its versatility (texture, preservation, etc.) makes it a useful ingredient in many food products. - What is the main disadvantage of using calcium chloride? Some people prefer to avoid food additives. Also, research on the potential risks of high-dose calcium supplements is ongoing. - When not to use calcium chloride? Don't consume pure calcium chloride! Always follow recipe or product instructions when using it in cooking. - Do humans need calcium chloride? We need calcium as a nutrient, but food-grade calcium chloride provides a negligible amount compared to dietary sources like dairy or leafy greens. - Is calcium chloride better than salt? "Better" is subjective. It offers a salty flavor with less sodium but has different uses than table salt. - Is calcium chloride safer than salt? That depends on your health needs. For ice-melting, it's safer for pets. In food, both are safe in moderation. - Is calcium chloride actually calcium? It contains calcium, but it's a salt compound made of both calcium and chloride. - What does calcium chloride taste like in food? It can have a slightly bitter, salty flavor, but the amounts used in food are usually too small to be noticeable. - Is calcium chloride natural or synthetic? Both! It can be made synthetically or derived from naturally occurring sources. - Is calcium chloride the same as citric acid?Nope! Citric acid has different properties and is often used for its sour flavor. - Is calcium chloride the same as baking soda? Definitely not! Calcium chloride and baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) are completely different compounds with distinct uses. Key Takeaways Let's recap the important points about calcium chloride in food: - It's not cause for alarm! Calcium chloride is there to help our food stay fresh and delicious. - It's responsible for the satisfying crunch of pickles and the texture of some cheeses. - Health organizations have cleared it for use in our food in the amounts we normally consume. - It has some pretty awesome uses outside of the food world, too! Conclusion So, what's the verdict on calcium chloride in food? Turns out, this unassuming ingredient is a pretty handy helper. It boosts the quality and shelf life of our food while being generally recognized as safe when used properly. If you're curious about the latest research on calcium in your diet, especially if you take supplements, it's always worth checking in with your doctor. How Ayurveda Can Help Treat Dengue: Everything You Need to Know!
Tumblr media
Dengue is a potentially fatal disease that, unfortunately, is highly prevalent. Especially during certain seasons, there’s a considerable risk of encountering dengue-causing mosquitoes. Hence, it puts individuals and their families at risk of contracting the disease. This article aims to raise awareness about what to do if you contract dengue. Here, you can dispel myths and get guidance on the right action. Moreover, Arham Living, an Ayurvedic clinic in Navi Mumbai, tries to shed light on Ayurveda’s role in treating dengue.
What is Dengue?
Dengue is a viral illness transmitted primarily by the Aedes mosquito. It presents many symptoms, including high fever, nausea, and vomiting. It also includes headaches, hair loss, skin rashes, bleeding, weakness, and body pain. When someone develops a fever during dengue season, it is crucial to undergo a complete “fever profile” blood test to identify the cause. The fever may be because of dengue, malaria, typhoid, or another viral infection.
Symptoms of Dengue
Dengue typically manifests with high fever, nausea, vomiting, acidity, headaches, hair loss, skin rashes, bleeding (especially in severe cases), weakness, and body pain. Recognizing these signs, especially during dengue season, is essential for early diagnosis and prompt treatment.
Causes of Dengue
Dengue is caused by the dengue virus, primarily transmitted through the bite of Aedes mosquitoes. When these infected mosquitoes bite a person, they transmit the virus into the bloodstream, leading to dengue infection. The virus has different serotypes, increasing the risk of multiple dengue infections in a person’s lifetime. Preventive measures like mosquito control and bite prevention are essential to reduce the spread of the disease.
What are the limitations of conventional medicine in treating dengue?
In allopathy, there is no specific treatment available for dengue. When patients seek medical attention, allopathic doctors can only offer supportive care, often resulting in hospitalization.
What is the Role of Ayurveda in Dengue Treatment?
Contrary to misconceptions involving remedies like papaya leaf, Ayurveda offers effective treatments for dengue. Genuine Ayurvedic doctors with expertise can cure dengue within six days or less. Ayurvedic dengue treatment does not rely on unconventional methods but follows principles rooted in ancient wisdom.
Ayurvedic Diet for Dengue Patients
Diet plays a critical role in dengue recovery, but misinformation often leads patients wrong. Dengue patients should avoid sour, spicy, and fermented foods. Foods like citrus fruits, Amchur powder, Imli powder, Lemon, Pineapple, Kiwi, Dragon fruit, berries, papayas, and tomatoes are strictly prohibited. Additionally, foods like Idli, Dosa, Dhokla, alcohol, bread, curd, and curd-based items should be avoided.
A dengue patient’s diet should primarily consist of rice, dal, soupy khichadi, boiled vegetables (excluding tomatoes), and vegetable or clear soup without black pepper. The approved fruits include watermelon, pomegranate, grapes, apples (without the outer layer), and pears. Ayurvedic medication is complemented by substantial use of cow’s ghee and overnight soaked fennel seeds for optimal results.
Conclusion
Dengue is a severe illness, but Ayurveda offers a promising solution for its treatment. If you or a loved one contracts dengue, it’s crucial to consult a knowledgeable Ayurvedic practitioner. At Arham Living, you can get remarkableAyurveda Treatment For Dengue. This clinic provides hope and healing to patients during these challenging times. Remember, early detection and the proper treatment can make all the difference in your journey to recovery.

47 vegan events Worldwide in 2023. Don’t miss out!
Tumblr media
World Vegan Day is celebrated on November 1st and it amazes us how far the movement has come!
World Vegan Day reminds us of when veganism started as a diet and then eventually became a lifestyle choice. The joy and benefits of veganism are affirmed on this dedicated day, showing how easy it is to live a cruelty-free lifestyle as well as raising awareness about the rights of our furry friends. Even though vegetarianism calls for the rejection of all animal products, a plant-based diet is the best way to encourage this change. Posted online with thousands of delicious vegan recipes or modified versions of meat and dairy dishes.
To say that the discourse surrounding veganism is often laced with misinformation or even preconceived notions would be an understatement. For many, much of the resulting information, either completely inaccurate or partially presented, is considered a major barrier to adopting or even attempting to adopt a vegan diet. Therefore, World Vegan Day, which takes place every year on November 1, is perhaps the most appropriate day to highlight some common concepts about diet, as well as paint a clearer picture of what veganism actually entails.
World Vegan Day facts
1: Vegan and vegetarian are "basically" the same.
Perhaps one of the common misunderstandings about vegetarianism is because it is related to vegetarianism. The only commonality between the two is the common avoidance of meat products. Vegans and vegetarians strictly do not consume. However, this similarity ends here. To be vegan is to avoid all animal products (meat is only one animal product), including dairy products (milk, cheese, curds, butter) and products such as honey. This is not the case for vegetarians as many vegetarians in India have a heavy dairy diet. Precisely for this reason, these people are often called vegetarians.
2: Vegetarians eat only organic products
While vegetarian is a lifestyle/diet, organic is a farming/production method. These are not related in any way. Eating only organic is certainly not vegan. Eating organic fruits and vegetables is absolutely a priority. Many vegetarians also use traditionally grown fruits and vegetables. And the science about which is "better" is still evolving and mixed in terms of consensus.
3: Vegetarianism can lead to poorer nutrition
A common misconception about the diet is that following it leads to overall poorer nutrition. This is only true if one does not do preliminary research before making a dietary change. Whether vegan or not. Changing your diet is usually a big decision that requires at least some research into the diet in question.
In the case of a vegan diet, when all animal products are excluded, there is a possibility of reduced intake of protein, iodine, calcium, vitamin B12, vitamin D, and omega-3 fatty acids. Each of these nutrients has a suitable alternative (especially protein) based on either food substitutes or simple supplements.
4: Vegan food options are hard and expensive to find
In fact, vegetarian options are quite easy to find and get and are becoming more affordable due to the growing vegan community in India. There are many options – for protein, soy products are often widely consumed. With lentils and beans is another good source. There are actually a lot of plant-based dairy products to choose from – even a basic ingredient like milk can be replaced with soy milk, almond milk, peanut milk, etc. Hemp milk can also serve as a great source of omega-3s. A healthy portion of leafy greens provides vitamins, and the same goes for vitamin D – which can be counteracted by (now socially) exposure to sunlight.
5: Vegetarianism is a mere trend that will eventually fade
But perhaps the most enduring myth of all is the claim that people who follow a vegan diet do so as part of a social trend in order to gain influence in society. Although this claim is abstract, it is also difficult to "disprove" - how can one prove the true goals of any vegan on earth? There are few who consider it fashionable! But for the vast majority of vegetarians, it's a diet that aligns with their value in stopping their contribution to the cruel animals that go into producing food for consumption. It's also objectively less damaging to the environment, an outcome that's (or at least should be) good for all of us.
So, the longest-running misconception about veganism is one that criticizes its longevity, something that only grows as the years go by and more affordable options become popular. Perhaps, on World Vegan Day, it's best not to think about how long veganism will last. But how long can we last it, until the day it looks like the new normal.

Fresh Ghee In Madurai For Weight Loss: Myth Or Fact?

Have you ever thought that consuming fresh ghee can help you lose weight? Hello everyone, welcome to an article discussing an intriguing topic to separate myth from reality. Let’s explore the topic to learn the facts about whether fresh ghee in madurai can really be a valuable ingredient in your weight loss journey.
Confusion surrounding fat and weight loss:
Ghee, a form of clarified butter, has been a staple of Indian cuisine for centuries. However, as the quest for weight loss continues to gain momentum, the question arises: Can ghee, often considered fat and calorie dense, actually help shed those extra pounds?
Understanding the Blast- Adiposity and Metabolism:
Contrary to popular belief, ghee does play a role in boosting metabolism. Ghee’s ability to provide an explosive, quick energy boost can be attributed to its unique composition. Ghee contains short-chain fatty acids that are easily absorbed and utilized by the body, providing instant energy. This burst of energy increases your overall metabolic rate and aids in weight loss efforts.
Benefits of Ghee:
Reduces cholesterol- When it comes to weight loss, targeting fat loss is key. Ghee, when consumed in moderation, can be a useful tool in this regard. Conjugated linoleic acid in ghee has been linked to reducing body fat and increasing lean muscle mass. Adding fresh ghee to your diet can promote fat-burning while preserving muscle tissue.
Fresh ghee in a balanced diet- Although fresh ghee can offer potential benefits for weight loss, it’s important to remember that it should be consumed as part of a balanced diet. Since ghee is high in calories, portion control is essential. Adding ghee to nutrient-dense foods like fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains is important for overall health and sustainable weight loss.
Maximizing the benefits of fresh ghee:
To make the most of fresh ghee for weight loss, consider these practical tips:
Choose high-quality, organic ghee to ensure purity and avoid unwanted additives.
Limit your intake reasonably, as overconsumption can hinder your weight loss goals.
For optimal results, combine ghee with a balanced diet and regular exercise.
In conclusion, using fresh ghee for weight loss may seem counterintuitive, but it is true. Ghee’s unique composition, its burstiness, and its ability to target fat loss make it a potential ally in your weight loss journey. However, as with any dietary approach, moderation and balance are key. By adding fresh ghee in madurai to a well-rounded diet and active lifestyle, you can harness its benefits and try to reach your weight loss goals.

Goats Cheese Day
To celebrate the wonders and benefits of this distinctively acidic, tangy cheese, Goats Cheese Day is celebrated every June 25 as a way to appreciate and bask in its wonders. From the humble crumbly feta to the thick, viscous halloumi, goat’s cheese is a popular type of cheese consumed across the world.
History of Goats Cheese Day
Goats Cheese Day was initiated in 1998 by the American Cheese Society and French goat cheese producer Bongrain — now named Savencia Fromage & Dairy. It was created to help raise awareness about the advantages of consuming goats’ cheese such as its health benefits and its distinctive flavor.
It is thought to have originated as far as 5000 B.C. in ancient Greece, where the goat is first domesticated. In its simplest form, the cheese is made by allowing raw goat’s milk to naturally curdle, thus resulting in its distinctively sour, tangy flavor. Because of this, the goat’s milk is responsible for shaping the taste of the cheese.
Its flavor is due to the presence of more medium-chain fatty acids in goat’s milk, which are less likely to be stored as fat in the body than regular cheese. Vitamins A, E, K, B3, and B6 are also abundant in goat cheese. Goat’s cheese does not melt in the same manner that cow’s milk cheese does when heated. The Alpine goat and the LaMancha goat are the most common cheese goat breeds today.
Chevre, or goat’s cheese, is a beloved delicacy throughout the world. Many countries have developed their own goat cheese varieties, with some becoming staple foods and national delicacies. Feta, halloumi, garrotxa, labneh, and bucheron are some of the most well-known goat cheeses. It is also sold and eaten in a variety of forms and textures such as dry, hard, crumbly, and oozy. Thus, it is a versatile cheese to be consumed, as it fits well as part of spreads, dips, salads, sandwiches, and many others. Thus, Goats Cheese Day is a way to express our love for the delicacy that has colored millions of tongues with its unique flavor.
Goats Cheese Day timeline

1998 Goats Cheese Day is Established

Does goat’s cheese go well on pizza?
Goat’s cheese is a great topping for pizza. However, due to its strong, tart taste, one must be aware of what it pairs well with.
Goats Cheese Day Activities
Immerse yourself in its distinguishing flavors
Visit a goat cheese farm
Make your own goat’s cheese
There isn't a better way to celebrate Goats Cheese Day than by having some yourself! Goats cheese is a perfect garnish for salads, sandwiches, and spreads, and can add more kick to the flavor of whatever you're eating. Don't forget to share some with your loved ones as well.
Take a tour of a goat’s cheese production mill or farm to learn how it is made. Aside from learning how it is made, these tours would usually allow you to sample a taste of their cheese. Nothing beats fresh cheese, after all.
Why not try creating your own goat’s cheese at home if you're feeling adventurous? Getting some raw goat milk and allowing it to curdle spontaneously is all it takes. The curds should next be drained and pressed into shape. Making some yourself can help you appreciate the cheese even more, as well as the people who make it.
5 Delectable Facts About Goat’s Cheese
It has a relatively short production time
Goats lactate productively at two years old
The average amount of milk needed
Milk production duration

Goats normally produce milk for about four to five years, although some can be more productive longer.
Fresh goat’s cheese has only 60% of the fat and cholesterol found in cow-milk cheddar.
Why We Love Goats Cheese Day
It celebrates goat’s cheese
It’s a staple of global cuisine
It appreciates goats
Goat’s cheese can be considered to be one of the most innovative, versatile foods out there due to its various forms and uses. You can consume it with both savory and sweet foods and it will still complement the dish well. The fact that a cheese — which is known to be one of the most strongly flavorful foods — can be so versatile shows how much of a culinary wonder it is.
Not only is it versatile in use, but many countries around the world have adopted some form of it into their national dishes. For example, halloumi is a staple of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern dishes while a Greek salad is never the same without chunks of feta. This shows how much goat’s cheese is embraced across different cultures and how it has helped shape the culinary identities of many.
In the world of cheese, the humble goat tends to be looked over in favor of the cow. Nothing against cows, though, but it shows that they are not the only players in the cheese game. Besides, goat’s milk is consumed more than cow's milk in various countries outside of the Western world. Surely the goat should receive as much appreciation for their contribution to global diets as well?

Homoeopathy Ki Baat, Dr. Bakshi Ke Saath | Episode 13
The talk show, “Homoeopathy Ki Baat, Dr. Bakshi Ke Saath”, is a joint venture between TV9 Bharatvarsh and Dr. S.P.S. Bakshi, CMD of Bakson's Group. Dr. Bakshi is giving in-depth and unknown knowledge on Homoeopathy through this program. Dr. Satinder Pal Singh Bakshi is a well-known homoeopathic practitioner. His experience spans four decades, and millions of names attest to his treatment.
In the last 12 episodes, Dr. Bakshi has taught us a lot about homoeopathy. He talked about the discovery of this alternative branch of treatment and the origin of the law, “likes cure likes”. In the later episodes, he also discussed common misconceptions and beliefs among people regarding homoeopathy. The chronological sequence of the episodes is
Origin of Homoeopathy
Establishment of law: Like Cures Like
Level of Health by Dr. Dhinshaw Mehta
Importance of discipline in life
What is an Allergy?
External and Internal Factors of Allergy
Role of our immune system
Correlation between all 4 types of allergies: Respiratory, Skin, Digestive, Musculoskeletal
Skin Allergies
When, what and how to eat
Role of Pathological Testing in Homoeopathy
Breaking the Myth: Homoeopathy is slow acting and long-term treatment
About Arthritis and its treatment in homoeopathy
Previously on Homoeopathy Ki Baat Dr. Bakshi Ke Saath
In the last episode, Dr. Satander Pal Singh Bakshi discussed how arthritis impacts a person's life and how it can be controlled. Arthritis is referred to be a white-collar disease since it affects those who do not exercise. He also suggested that practicing yoga increases physical flexibility and reduces stiffness, keeping arthritis at bay.
Moving on to the latest episode, at the beginning of the show the host enquired if arthritis can lead to pain in the other parts of the body? In response, Dr. Bakshi explained that arthritis can affect the patient's entire body.
To explain this, he shared a surprising fact, that he uncovered over the course of his career and was also discovered in a recent study, that migraine is nothing but arthritis of the skull. It is the swelling in the joints of the skull which is also known as Sutures.
He added that at first, some Arthritis patients do not experience any muscle or joint pain, instead, they experience the symptoms of Migraine like nausea or headache. These symptoms subsidies with age but swelling and pain increases in other parts of the body like finger joints, knuckles, legs, knees etc.
Later Dr. Bakshi also talks about the relationship between arthritis and gastric problems. He says, just as skin & respiratory problems are linked, so are gastric problems and arthritis. According to him, if a patient is suffering from acidity or flatulence, he will also experience pain in the body, thereby implying that gastric reaction and pain go hand in hand.
Curd, buttermilk (lassi), refined wheat flour (Maida), black gramme (urad dal), watermelon, muskmelon, and rajma are among foods that an arthritis patient must avoid. These food items may appeal to some patients, but not to the majority. Furthermore, he also stated that many people report tingling or numbness in their joints after eating muskmelon or watermelon.
Towards the end of the episode, he described how his cook who suffered from arthritis was cured with homoeopathic medicines prescribed by him and his father.
So, to conclude, regular exercise, dietary control and homoeopathic treatment, can not only prevent but also cure arthritis.
Stay tuned for more fascinating information about homoeopathy.

Book Club Meeting: Reigning in Hel
Tumblr media
Host: @caffiend-queen
Happy Monday! Welcome to this week’s meeting of the Marvel Book Club for Adults. (I recognize that I use the word “adult” loosely, particularly in my case.) There can be nothing better in this dreary “pandemic, we can’t go anywhere and I’m needing something to stimulate my mind (and other places) summer,” than a delightful weekly feast of tasty dishes, luscious drinks and cocktails, and a big, juicy story that we can really sink our teeth into.
Because most of the world is a scorching wasteland of burning heat and sweat, I’m offering something cool and delightful to refresh our palates before diving in….
Tumblr media
The Shrimp and Asparagus Stir Fry is wonderfully tasty, super quick, and has only seven ingredients. I’m an ADHD-type cook and don’t remember little things like, oh, checking the food until I see the smoke. So I’ve picked something delicious that requires minimal effort.
Tumblr media
For something sweet while you’re reading this juicy tale, the hardcore dessert favorite in my family is Scotch Shortbread Lemon Bars. They have that buttery base that only Scotch Shortbread can provide, with a tangy lemon curd and a dusting of powdered sugar.
Tumblr media
Now that we have our nibbles ready to go, may I suggest a Strawberry-Lemon Mojito? These will be will a cooling accompaniment to our story, which is going to heat you right back up. Also, these mojitos are just as delicious without the rum, if you prefer alcohol free.
Now, let’s take everything out on the front porch and catch a breeze as the sun sets. Don’t forget the bug spray…
There is no writer that can incite such blistering envy in me as @nildespirandum. You might know her as misreall on AO3, and her Loki and Nora series in all its glorious incarnations - incubus Loki, God of Sex Loki, Loki in the body of a pudgy middle-aged human, Gladiator Loki - they’re all gorgeous. But her Blue Loki … sigh. He’s responsible for many things, including my insatiable Horn Kink.
Tumblr media
So as the sun is blazing, allow me to draw you into Jotunn-occupied Midgard and the icy castle of King Loki in Reigning in Hel: “When the Jotunns defeated Asgard they took Midgard as a prize. Nearly a thousand years later Emperor Laufey's least favored child, Loki sits on Midgard's throne, having turned a backwater planet into one of the brightest and most valuable jewels in his father's crown. To help keep the peace with the indigenous people, he has chosen a human woman at random to serve as his queen. Now on his sixth queen, Loki finds himself with a very different kind of consort.”
Nil’s true gift is creating a fully-formed, vivid universe out of a handful of quick Marvel images or snatches of Norse myths. We enter a Midgard buried under centuries of Jotunn oppression and a universe - including Asgard - conquered by King Laufey. Nora is us: unwilling to back down and be sequestered off somewhere by her indifferent new spouse. Loki’s instant attraction to his new bride is almost appalling to him. The sex here is lush, alternately romantic and playful, but wildly arousing. As the story - and their connection - grows, there’s twists and turns and plot twists that made me screech “I did not see that coming!” about three hundred times. There’s witches and dragons and rebellions and everything that makes up a story you’ll never forget. The finish is everything you can wish for and oh, so deeply satisfying.
There’s gorgeous and very intense, detailed smut, violence, cruelty to humans and one heartbreaking (brief) scene of torture.
Even having read this half a dozen times, I downloaded it to read on a stressful flight (the jet was pitching violently up and down in a storm) and didn’t look up from my phone once in two hours … let yourself get away from wherever you are and into the dark, dreamy world of Nil’s beautiful Jotunn Midgard. I’m extremely excited to hear your responses to one of the most powerful stories I’ve ever read.
