Matt is Nando's first dude crush and he has to hide in Matt's bathroom because he thought Matt telling him he liked dudes aswell as girls was him asking him on a date. The problem is that Nando's pretty sure he would have said yes. It take awhile of Nando's one sided pinning before Matt also catches feelings and immediately falls hard.

Bob Zanotto/Helmut Fullbear:

So in-game they're already married and love eachother very much, but I would say it's pretty obvious that Bob fell in love first from his memory vault and wedding vows you hear in-game. Though we don't get to hear Helmut's vows (sad), I wholeheartedly believe that he fell for Bob later and totally fell harder. Also they know eachother so well that when an imaginary Helmut says he doesn't love Bob, Bob instantly knows that's something he wouldn't say. Before I get too rambling here, to sum up my thoughts: I think they are just the sweetest part of the game and more people should know about them.

Vettonso x Similar Helmets

SV Germany 2012 x FA Monaco 2013: Gold & Dark Red

I think a lot about Vettonso and their mutual relationship witn gold. They're both golden boys, they're both seen lit gold by the sunshine on many podiums throughout the years, both have worn golden boots, and as you can see here: both have worn golden helmets. The parallels in these particular helmets makes me feel insane. Both are: gold with dark red accents, both have their birthplace's coat of arms(Bergstraße and Asturias), both have team animal motifs, and both have symbols to represent their two championships(You by now know the signifigance of the ones on Fernando's helmet, but I think the ones on Seb's are actually a callback to his Formula BMW days when he used to put the smiley stickers on his car for every win.)

And did you know both of these helmets were designed by the same helmet design company? Yep, both of these are JMD helmets. I know JMD helmets are/were pretty popular, but still, there's something to me about Fernando commissioning the same designer that Seb has been using since he was a literal child. Parallels, am I right?

SV Japan 2010 x FA Japan 2023: White with Black & Red

Haha I remember @protocolseben and I discussing this a bit back in September when Fernando's helmet dropped. I honestly think Seb is such an innovator and trailblazer in terms of helmet design, and you can see his influence in helmet design as recently as this past season. I'm not sure if he was the first ever driver to don a matte white helmet with red accents as a representation of the Japanese flag, but it certainly envoked him in my mind when I saw Fernando's!!

I think Fernando's is pretty similar to all of Seb's 2010-2012 Japan helmets but I like this one the most so! I think if Seb wasn't restrained by the Red Bull logo, he def wouldv'e put the red circle where Nando put his so I think Fernando did a really good job, even if unintentionally, at emulating Seb's sense of design.

SV Singapore 2012 x FA Singapore 2012: Sparkly!

Like I said in the one above, it's crazy how much Seb influenced helmet design. He was pretty much the pioneer of sparkly helmets for Singapore, right? It drives me absolutely insane that there's actually pictures of them together in such similar designed helmets. It's kinda funny actually that even though they're pretty deep in the championship fight at this point, and Seb just got one up on Fernando; Fernando is wearing a helmet that is a direct influence from Seb!!! Is that not insane???

Also, Fernando trying to be camp with trying the now in vogue sparkly Singapore helmet, and Seb accidentally completely blew him out of the water with his outrageous light up LED constellation helmet. But god yeah....to have pics of them in matching helmets from this era particuarly makes me emotional ;;;

SV Hungary 2021 x FA 2022: Pink with Dark Blue

I really could've picked any of Seb's 2021 helmets, but I thought this one matched the best with Fernando's main 2021 helmet(with the color pallet.) Also one thing, it's crazy how much control BWT has as a sponsor, I don't think I've ever seen another sponsor go so hard at having a chokehold on individuality. I like that we got pink liveries and pink helmets, but I don't think they should have that much control.

I'm almost kinda sad there wasn't any Miami GP in 2021, because I think that was the only unique helmet Fernando had in 2022. But these match pretty well! Pretty in pink!! It's crazy that their parallels in the 2020s are ongoing even before Fernando actually takes over Seb's seat. Thanks BWT I guess?

SV Abu Dhabi 2022 x FA Abu Dhabi 2022: Fernando's Seb Tribute Helmet

AND HERE WE HAVE THE PIÈCE DE RÉSISTANCE!!! The ultimate conclusion, it literally couldn't get better than this!! This is still unbelievable, like how is this an actual thing that happened!? Fernando intentionally branding his helmet, the only symbol of individuality in F1, with his rival's flag colors, HIS FLAG!!!!! Not to mention the literal "Vettono Best Moments" collage he posted alongside it....and the hand-holding....and everything that happened with them at Abu Dhabi 2022....

But god, after years of incidentally making parallel helmet designs, Fernando decided to officially tie the knot of the red string of fate, and make a helmet directly referencing Seb's. I think it's funny because as I said with two of the previously mentioned ones, those Fernando designs are pretty much inspired by Seb's, and here he is openly making one directly inspired by Seb. I don't really have words for how this actually makes me feel because it's just. Yeah. The most open and clear declaration of love and respect and admiration one could ever make. TO ME.

oh girl.........where do i even start

okay first of all my IDEAL x-men production would be a live action tv show, rather than a movie. it would be a real proper actual x-men first class thing, but as the seasons progressed, it would expand and branch out to accommodate all the other stories

i actually wrote a draft of the pilot a few years back lmfao it started with uatu viewing different screens with different realities (like fox x-men, the mcu, etc), and then it focused on one and zoomed into the grey family house, where jean was having a nightmare. and then she opened her eyes and the phoenix symbol flashed in the reflection before the credits started. and then we'd have her taking a cab to the xavier institute, and on the way, she looks out of the window and sees a young woman about her age (emma) staring at a lingerie display and through the reflection they would briefly make eye contact, and jean would 'feel' her, even though her telepathy would still be blocked. the cab driver would almost drive into a truck but she would use her powers to stop the accident, before they get to the mansion, she'd meet the other x-men, magneto would attack cape canaveral, etc etc etc. and then the episode would end with the start of sentinel project. first season would end with them going to krakoa. season 2 would start with the introduction of the new x-men, and end with the start of the phoenix saga. eventually the new mutants and x-factor and x-force would be introduced and spun-off to different shows, building an x-men TV universe.

but if it HAD to be a movie, it would depend entirely on how far along the x-universe is... is it an introductory movie? i'd adapt manifest destiny. e is for extinction would also work perfectly, but it would need to be very expository, and i'd probably have to write out cassandra nova. operation: zero tolerance could work well as a movie, too.

now, if i were to do something like a completely original storyline, i would definitely draw from the religious prejudice that i don't think the movies ever dealt with. you know, like when they crucify Skin in the lawn of the Xavier Institute, or chopped off Jay Guthrie's wings, or bombed a bus full of kids. i would really bring that to the forefront

as for fancast, it depends a lot on the ages, but if the x-men were more "mature", I'd go with Matt Bomer for Scott, Natalie Dormer for Emma, Santiago Cabrera for Bobby, the fat ass indiana cop for Hank, Alexandra Breckenridge for Jean, Wentworth Miller for Warren, Gemma Chan for Psylocke, Billy Magnussen as Alex, Emmy Rossum as Lorna. An extremely underrated show:

It has recently come to my attention this show is definitely not talked about enough! The Netflix series itself is very well thought out and has gotten quite a few good laughs out of me, which does leave me to question why not many people talk about it. But forget all that for one moment, and let me get to the point:

Why should this show be more loved?:

First of all; It’s Matt-freaking-Groening making this! Hello? Futurama and The Simpsons are both very well made and well respected shows that most of us watched in our earlier years, and Disenchantment is a show that needs to be shown to kids now (I mean 12-13 year olds mostly)! because not only are the characters familiar but new, but they also have a very complex and creative world! It’s set way back around the 13 hundreds (someone correct me if I’m wrong here please!) and brings mystical creatures and magic into the mix!

The series does have a Simpsons-vibe to it, mainly with the ‘explicit’ content- mostly just alcohol, drug use, blood and s*x scenes (legit only, like, two- and you don’t SEE anything!). Unlike more explicit shows, this one, much like Final Space, involves accurate depictions of how people most likely acted at the time! With mentions of the plague, racism and sexism, it brings a real-life aspect to the show!

WARNINGS:

To parents, I recommend that if your child/children have seen The Simpsons or shows that do show mildly (and I mean like Nando’s lemon and herb chicken mild) explicit content, you should be completely fine with showing them this show! Also, if you are religious and do not like any show showing hell/demons or god/heaven portrayed in shows I wouldn’t recommend this to you! It has exorcism scenes, portrayals of Satan and god that you may not agree with, and lastly a main character who is in fact a demon himself! If you’re all good with this, then give this show a shot!

To everyday Netflix watchers who have avoided or have gone on without knowing of this show, I definitely recommend this! As long as you’re alright with some mild gore and a pretty wide variety of characters, you should be absolutely fine with this show!

In conclusion, I would recommend this show to many teens and adults alike and hope you reading this give the Netflix original a shot! It’s definitely worth the wait to see some character development and plot development, and I really mean it when I say: you should watch the first ep!

#13 and #14 London

Yesterday we woke up after Michelle had left for work and we went down to our luxurious buffet breakfast. We then continued on, catching the tube to Oxford street to go to the doc marten store, which was a let down. We went to the shops we passed on the way back, like Urban Outfitters, and both of us got some stuff. We then made our way to Big Ben, which is still covered in scaffolding, to meet Matthew for the day (he’d travelled from Bristol).

We travelled to find a Nando’s for lunch (successfully), and then headed half an hour north on the tube to where he was staying so he could pick up a key. After that, we came back near our hotel and went to the M&M store and Lego store, both very large, and yes we/I got something from each store. We each made a Lego character for five pounds each, and I got a bag of M&Ms.

After that, we went to the grocery store and got some drinks and snacks, then came back here and played cards and drank for the rest of the night. Michelle was out having dinner with a work friend, and said she’d be back by 10pm (she got back after 2am). She went out with the Polish man, apparently drank a lot, stopped at a casino and went to a fancy restaurant. Note, he invited us three to join them, but we politely declined. By 10:30, Matt realised that there were practically no trains running anymore, so he stayed over. Lucky we have a massive bed.

I woke up this morning after an awful sleep at 10:30am (we’d missed breakfast). Michelle had left for work already (again). It took us all a while to actually wake up, so Matthew left around 12:30 to meet his friend. Jasper and I, in need of a hangover remedy, trekked to a KFC for lunch. We then went to a few shops and came to the hotel at around 3 for a well-needed rest.

Matthew came back over and we hung out and watched some British Pointless. Michelle got back, and we all left- Matthew for his train home to Bristol, and the rest of us for China town. We stopped for a quick dinner before Les Mis, but the food was taking a while so Michelle pulled a Karen.

We made it to the show, and wow it was amazing (yes, I cried). Favourite song was either Master of the House, Lovely Ladies or One Day More.

Very tired now, also have a sore throat so that's not ideal. Flying back to Toronto tomorrow midday and packing in the morning.

I want to quit. I am angry with myself for wanting to quit - Cardiff Half Marathon

Charlie Spedding, age 28, is a good runner, but not a great one. He sits down in a pub one day, drinks his ale, and reads a story in the paper. A job had been advertised with a salary of £60k – no one applied. The employers re-ran the ad, but took down the salary to £25k – they received dozens of applications. Charlie sips his beer and realises that, up to this point, he was the guy who didn’t think he was worth the higher paid salary. His subconscious is the thing holding him back in races, not injuries, nor lack of training. He writes down some ridiculously lofty goals, leaves the pub, and goes on to achieve them. He becomes GB champ at 10,000m, wins the London Marathon, and gets a bronze at the Olympics in 1984 (incidentally, the last medal that Great Britain have won in the Olympic marathon).

Charlie came to grips with the importance of the mental aspect. He attributed it fully to his success, but also, to his downfall. Age 36, in the Olympic marathon again, Charlie is in 6th place, with 5 miles still to go. He is feeling terrible, and he is being caught up. He wants badly to quit, or at least slow down. In that deep dark point of suffering, on the verge of breaking down, he made a deal with himself. Just finish, and hold onto 6th place, and you will never have to run a marathon again. Charlie kept to his promise. He did finish 6th in the Seoul Olympics. But then, after that, he was still a top pro runner. Having finished 3rd and 6th in Olympic games, and with the running scene booming, he was hot property, and was being offered very lucrative fees to race marathons all over the world. Due to injury, illness, or (as he himself suspects) in honour of that promise, he never did managed to finish one again. 3 months ago, I promised myself I would quit running if I could just finish the Snowdonia Trail Marathon. I did finish. I reneged on that promise a week later, and have, to date, raced five times since. But, as soon as the race starts to hurt, I find myself whisked back on the dark, moody slopes of Snowdon, and I remember the deal I made with myself. I promised myself I wouldn’t have to go through this again. In each race, I start with all the optimism of the ‘old me’. This time I will be back to my old self, I have switched my brain back on now and everything is ok again. But, each race…hurts, want to quit.

Cardiff Half, the weather, the atmosphere, the organisation, it is all incredible. I have been put up by a lovely couple (Gwenno and Dylan), have had a great night sleep, training has gone well, and in the warm up I am feeling light and ready. On the start line, with 27,500 runners behind me, I feel great. 4 miles into the race, we go up a hill. It hurts. I want to quit. I want to quit. I am angry with myself for wanting to quit. I am 4 miles away, if I quit, I will just have to walk 4 miles back. Screw it! I will walk 4 miles if I want to, you think I won’t walk 4 miles? What the hell do I care?! I am a mountain runner, I LIVE in the mountains, why am I the one struggling up this piddly little hill?! I should be devouring this fucker. There are girls infront of me. There should not be girls infront of me. There are guys infront of me who shouldn’t be infront of me. Everyone around me is wearing 4%s. My mum and dad have come to watch, I don’t want them to see me quit again. I miss my little girl. I have to find a way to finish this race, and I have to find a way to enjoy it. The look my little girl gave me when I told her I was going away for the weekend, she might as well have ripped my heart from my chest and stamped on it. I have to find a way to make this all worth it. I will drop back, relax, enough until the pain subsides. I will convince myself I am running a marathon, and then I can drop out at halfway. The above line of thought, all takes place within about 1 mile. As we drop down off the hill and across the Cardiff Barage, a dam type pedestrian walkway over the sea, I am already starting to feel better. 5.20 miling is feeling easy, and I have got my breathing and my rythym back quickly. I let the group of leading ladies go, let any chance of a PB go, and let my ego go too. The mile markers seem to come quicker, I notice the crowds, hear the bands, and I am enjoying myself. I know I can run faster than this, at some points, I am almost overwhelmed with a desire to kick on. I want to catch the women back up, they are just up the road. No Russell, hold! I feel lazy, cruising around at 5.20 pace, I want to shout to the crowds, “I could go faster than this you know!”. I have to remind myself that, mile 4, I had nearly dropped out, so this is a million times good enough.

Somewhere around mile 10, I really start to tune into the simple feeling of my trainers gripping the tarmac, freshly dried by the morning sun. Man I am loving this. We get to mile 13, I am almost in a daze, I am only halfway through, my mum pops out of nowhere and screams at me “Russell you have to go now”. So I might as well, I kick as hard as I can for the last hundred meters and fly past the guy I had been running with, the lactic stings, but it feels good, I relish the pain this time. 68.53. This could be seen as a disaster, considering I was initially targeting somewhere around 2 minutes quicker. But, then, it’s a wonderful success compared to dropping out at mile 4. Maybe my body could have produced better, but my mind couldn’t. So if 68 is where my mind is at, then I’m happy enough with that.

After a wonderful Nandos with my folks, I set off on the stunning drive over and around the Brecon Beacons and Snowdonia. I have time to think things through. I realise that, my mental state is fragile. It’s not a word I like to use, ‘fragile’, but none the less, I have to admit it is true. It needs time to heal, and a bit of self-compassion. I can’t expect to just flick a switch and be back to the old me, bulldozing through races and smashing through the pain barrier. I’ve tried that. It’s not working. There is some damage done, I need to realise that first, and then give it the space to heal. I feel like this was the first race that really started that process for me. There are still 3 months of the year left. Plenty of time to build on a 68 half. Thing I’m Digging This Week: Alberto Salazar, ex-marathon runner, now infamous coach, has finally been busted for drugs. I was walking from my car to the Cardiff Half start line, and heard lots of runners in the crowds talking about it. It’s a big thing. I am happy he has finally been caught, but a lot of heros were coached by him; Mo Farah, Galen Rupp, Alan Webb, Matt Centrowitz, the list goes on and on. It doesn’t look good for any of those guys. Great article on the subject here Best Thing On The Internet This Week: The World Athletics Championships in Doha. Stupid place to host the World Champs, the desert. The outdoor stadium had to be constantly air-conditioned to make it habitable to the athletes (how about that for a carbon footprint?). The women’s marathon had a third of the field drop out due to the heat. There were nights with less than 1000 spectators. I sat down with my little girl, El, and watched the women’s pole vault. At 3yrs old, she fricking loved it. She is still talking about how she is going to be a pole vaulter when she grows big. The IAAF is so corrupt, bloated and arrogant, that there may not be any pole vault by the time El grows big. But still, the athletes brought it. Dina Asher Smith, KJT, and Callum Hawkins, immense performances for which the GB team can be proud. Been trying to write this blog post all week, but as per usual my life had other ideas and I was crazy busy!  Anyway here is the rest of the post about our trip to London, for the London Marathon 2018.

Friday 20th April 2018

So after getting the train into London St Pancras, we headed straight to Leicester Square to get tickets to a show.  We had already decided on either The Book of Mormon or Aladdin.  Unfortunately, we couldn’t get tickets to The Book of Mormon, so Aladdin it was!

After getting the tickets, we went to check into our home for the next few days – The Premier Inn at Blackfriars.  We stayed in the same hotel last time so we knew it was ok and in a good location.  We managed to check in a little earlier than the usual check-in time which was handy.  Next stop the expo.

The Expo – Excel London

The expo was full of the usual stalls.  Ones giving away flapjacks etc to try for race fuel, energy gels an even beer!  Eddie managed to get his name on his running vest, which was one of the main things we wanted to do on Friday.  He obviously picked up his number and timing chip too!  He also managed to get his legs all taped up. Some for injury prevention and some to try and help fix niggles!

Aladdin

A quick trip back to the hotel and then we were out to Leicester Square again.  We decided to have dinner in Leicester Square at Bella Italia – cheap and actually really good portions and taste, followed by a walk around China Town.

Aladdin was better than we could have even hoped it would be.  The genie has played the same character on Broadway – he was larger than life and really added to the experience.  The visual effects were amazing as we the sets and costumes – all so colourful and vibrant.  The music was the same as in the Disney film (which I love).  Neither of us pretends to be huge fans of musical theatre.  We have seen West Side story and Chitty Chitty bang bang (which was amazing btw) but this was our first West End show, in a West End Theatre.

Saturday 21st April

Last year when Eddie ran the marathon we seriously overdid the walking on Saturday. This time I vowed that as he was already partially injured, it wasn’t happening this time around.

Camden

We had a lazy start but headed into Camden as I have read on other blogs and websites about the food and market.  After getting off the tube we walked through the high street, where there is some brilliant artwork on the front of the shops.

Cool shop fronts upstairs, not so good graffiti downstairs!

We got there with still time for breakfast and just went to the local Wetherspoons, which was nice.  The Wetherspoons overlooks the lock end of Camden – that’s my favourite bit.  Pretty lock that leads on to some lovely street food stalls. Then there is a maze of markets which includes a mix of food, vintage and new clothing.  I got the kids a Tshirt and myself a new bag, with a promise to go back down with my daughter who I know would love it.

Natural History Museum and Harrods

From there we headed up to Kensington, where we paid a visit to the National History Museum and Harrods.

We have often spoken about going to the Natural History Museum when the boys were smaller – I wish I had. It was good, but definitely would be better if visited with children.  There are some good exhibitions, but I was just too hot!

Next, we wandered down to Harrods.  I had never been, and I must admit it was a grand building inside and out, but I am not sure that I would buy half of the stuff even if I did have the money!  The food court was amazing, but a lot of the other stuff wasn’t really to my taste.

We headed back to the hotel and had a rest whilst watching the FA Cup semi-final.  We decided to head out to Nando’s for tea. It was the One New Change branch and I must admit it wasn’t the best I have been too, but I have given feedback via email so as far as I am concerned I do not need to say any more on the matter.

Sunday 22nd April – London Marathon 2018 Day

Last year I went straight to St James Park to wait for Eddie to run in and finish.  It was an agonising wait. So this year I decided to get the tube over to Tower Hill and try and get a spot around the corner from Tower Bridge.  I managed to see Mo Farah running, plus my brother in law, a few members of our running club and Eddie running about halfway.  It broke records as being the hottest London Marathon on records, 23 degrees – in April!! and it felt a lot hotter as there was no wind!  My sister and my other brother in law (Teresa and Kevin) were also at the same spot which was nice.

After seeing him run past we got the tube over to St James Park, where we had a bit of a wait to see Eddie finish.  Despite all his injuries he managed to finish and in that heat!!  in a respectable 5 hours 18 mins – not his quickest marathon, but he did it and raised a lot of money for charity too 🙂

We later found out that a runner sadly died after collapsing at mile 22.7 It just goes to show you how hard it is to run a marathon.  I am not sure what the cause of his death was, but he was also raising money for

charity and as I write this post his giving page is at over £300k which is an amazing tribute.  RIP Matt Campbell

After going back to the hotel, Eddie had a bath and a bit of a sleep.  We went to Jamies Italian at Covent Garden with Kath and Michael (my other sister and brother in law) for dinner.  It was delicious.  Even better, Jamie Oliver offered all marathon runners a free main course – such good value for money too.

I am so glad that we booked another night in the hotel and planned to come back on Monday.  It was such a tiring day and it meant we had a nice meal and nice end to it.

The ballot opens again tomorrow (30 April); and despite saying he will not run it again, I am sure Eddie will enter the ballot!  Who knows even I might enter it!
