I started a new mindless crochet project to work on when my knitting group gets together: a simple granny stitch shawl in Noro Ito yarn. My first fancy yarn buy way back when I started knitting was a Noro, and I still love all their gorgeous colorways. 😍 This shawl will probably live in my office at work, for the extra chilly air conditioning days.

Scarf I finished last week - I knitted Noro "Kureyon" in color 209 on size 8 needles in garter stitch. I used three different mohairs for the fringe, including Valley Yarns "Southampton" in Plum Wine (color 025) and KFI Luxury "Luxury Mohair" in color 6.

Just a few random projects from throughout the years. The NORO shawl was one of the first pieces I made up without a pattern. I want to recreate it some time but I can't figure out what yarns I want to use. Pink bolero is Freia Valentine and some super nice baby alpaca for the collar. I like cropped sweaters. Ribbon yarn piece is simple but it took two years to untangle the skein after my cat got into it.

Working on the "Dust Devil Shawl" by Rebecca Woelber!! I'm really loving that it's turning out exactly how I wanted it to!! Post-apocalyptic vibes up in this house!!!! 🙏😍🪡🪡 The yarn I'm using is Noro Sonata in the colour "Mushroom" and it's absolutely perfect for this project. The pattern said I could use either a fingering-weight yarn held-double, or a DK-weight yarn held single (this yarn). And there were no pics of the project in single-held, so I had to restart a couple times, because I wasn't sure why mine looked so different while I was trying to learn how to "left twist" stitch in the way I knit backwards (there are next to no guides on how to do certain knit stitches in backwards/mirrored knitting, which has made my most recent pattern-following projects difficult.) Turns out that once I did a few more rows, I could see that I was doing it right, it was just lacey and staggered shaped because I was using the yarn held-single, lol. But! This actually makes it look a lot more like the vibe I was hoping to achieve. So I'm just soooo happy with the progress I have so far!! The yarn also gives it a really beautiful drape, and I can already tell that it's going to be really comfortable to wear. It's also hard to tell in the photo, but this yarn has both warm and cool tones of greige and I love that. I also love that there are a couple variations in texture (slubs, kind of), which makes this a completely unique version of the pattern. I LOVE when yarn has uneven and unique qualities like that. 🪡🪡 This is also my first time using interchangeable and circular needles, and I really love it so far. A bit of a learning curve because these ChiaoGoo needles have a longer point than I'm used to, but I think I actually like that more than a shorter point. 😎🪡🪡🙏 #knit #knitting #noro #noroyarn #norosonata #chiaogoo #chiaogootwist #yarnaddicts #yarn #fiberart #dustdevilshawl #postapocalyptic #handmade #wip https://www.instagram.com/p/CoLU7z-Pt3e/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Spent the morning "yarn flirting" on etsy before making a commitment.
There is a shop that is a small brick-and-mortar shop getting rid of some stock, generally at a heavily discounted price. I've bought a discontinued Noro from them in the past and love the yarn. They had a number of skeins of the same yarn in a different color. Noro is expensive. I really don't need this yarn.
Over a number of months, I've added this listing to my favorites. Taken it out of my favorites, re-added it. Looked at it. Researched the yarn on Ravelry. Considered projects I could make with the yarn.
This weekend, the shop sent a 20% coupon. I added the yarn to my cart and paused to look at other yarn and think about it while having another cup of tea.
They immediately sent a coupon for a 25% coupon. I can see them having tea and going "look, we know you liked the purple version. We know you want the pink. Just go for it."
I bought the yarn.

Just finished this seamless top-down pullover. I used a Noro yarn made with humanely raised wool from New Zealand and raw silk, all dye-free.
