#I DID IT !!!!!!!! I BEAT THE BASE GAME #i died over 2800 times but idc !!!!! #something is very obviously different about these two compared to my normal images on this blog. i acknowledge this #also the sv model is Really good. and since they always stare straight at the camera anyway… and no one pays attention to the background… #and the only high-quality phantump model i could find was so horribly shiny that its eyes were just white voids #in my defense‚ phantump always just stare straight at you in game #the lighting is different‚ yeah. that's probably the dead giveaway. beyond the background. but like. i'm the only being on the planet who #really likes phantump anyway. i feel like it's a generally forgettable pokémon to most folks #phantump #HELLO this one is a weird one. i have some explaining to do. so when i did this one i didn't know how to edit models really at all #and when i got the models for these‚ the xy models were super shiny. shiny to the point that it made their eyes fuckin invisible #and i decided that since you could barely tell it was phantump‚ i needed a different way to get these images #i remembered that in the SV dlc‚ every time you find a wild phantump‚ it just fucking. stares. at you. and i was like. aha #i kinda remembered because of the test stream that i did. tumblr user alligayytorr (am i getting the right amount of Ys) said #“haha i am getting a sneak peek” when i zoomed the camera in on a phantump. and i remembered that. and i was like. i can utilize this #and ended up using just an in-game screenshot of SV in replacement of the regular content. later on‚ after that #once we got into gen 7 and it became less and less reliable to find models‚ i had to learn how to edit them manually to remove the shine #i am a software dev. not a 3d modeler. this ended up coming down to editing the code of the models directly (which i ended up writing a #script to automate). now‚ today‚ january 22nd (the day of me writing these tags and updating this post)‚ i remembered this post was in the #queue and was not normal. so i went back‚ ran the script on the phantump and trevenant models‚ and unshinified them #then edited these two posts to be normal. i have left the original pictures i took under the cut for reference and as bonuses #because i really enjoy phantump. so that's why those images are there‚ and that's why these tags are here #just for posterity's sake‚ the folks who come here mostly for my commentary‚ i've left the ORIGINAL tags of the post when i initially #made it with the SV pictures up at the top (i wanted to rearrange them‚ but tumblr makes that Very difficult‚ so i left them as-is) #so if these tags are confusing to read i Apologize. but i hope now that you're at the bottom you understand what happened #i'm gonna go edit the trevenant post now

another thing I'm kind of sad about re: totk is that I feel like the release completely de-energized the community? I don't know if that's just me, like for sure any game has a shelf life and things get quieter over time, that's normal, but I don't know. We're slightly over 9 months since release and honestly? even the blogs that were hellbent on defending totk as a genuinely great game that would leave a wonderful impact on the gaming community are radio silent right now.

It's not that there isn't any new conversations or cool/creative content or anything, but I actually do believe the Zelda Youtube community when they say that TotK kinda killed the groove a little bit. :/

I love the ambiguous ending of Alan Wake 2. This might be because I interpreted it optimistically, but the reveal that Alice is still around and has been the one helping Alan and Saga in the dark place was incredible after the despair of seeing her last video messages. and for that to lead to Alan (and the player) realizing it’s not a loop, but a spiral—that he’s not doomed to forever be trapped, but that he can rise out of this. This acknowledgment by Alan was the first step towards that ascension, rather than spiraling into further self-destruction. It might not have been a definite answer, but it was hopeful.

The Logan phone call cliffhanger was painful to end at, but for the same hopeful reasons and Saga having battled the dark place amplifying her existing doubts and anxieties, I’m choosing to believe Logan is safe! I still want more answers in the future, since multiple people are now in the dark place and characters like Mr. Door and Zane remain mysterious, but I like that this game wasn’t as clear as ’Alan escapes the dark place.’ It was an exploration of what the dark place is (to different people), being an artist, self-destruction and doubt, and so much more. Despite the first and second game both ending in the dark place, the journey and development the characters went through made a world of difference for what could possibly come next.

#lou plays #Horizon Forbidden West #few things give me as much joy as going places I'm not supposed to be. not my fault having a flying mount and glider made it easier #I swear it's the biggest thing I miss now whenever I play HZD. being able to just jump off high places and know Aloy will be fine #anyway. it's ya girl dropping in on the Arena fight bc I wanted to know if it was possible. and getting in is a little harder here #but overall difficulty level 4 maybe out of 10 #the dam is at like 2. oh god. drreamed about a new fixed camera silent hill game and got, so scared. so fucking scared. there weren't even any monsters the vibes were just THAT off

#it featured 3 main characters exploring this quote unquote abandoned building. 2 men and a woman. one of the men was a doctor searching for #his dead wife. he found her eventually and uh. well she was dead. it turns out she was his Second wife um she was also blind. #don't remember much else except that after finding her they took her body into like the main hub area of the game #(a big room in the abandoned building) and just covered her body with a sheet and left her there #weird #well I was gonna play a DLC focusing on this doctor character #and it started with something nobody should ever do in a horror game : the characters splitting up #and letting the doctor go into this part of the abandoned building all on his own #IT WAS SO SCARY I KNOW IT SOUNDS FUNNY NOW THAT I'M DESCRIBING IT BUT LIKE #THE GAME WAS SPLIT INTO SEVERAL AREAS usually a hallway and a few of the rooms connected to it #if you entered a hallway and then tried to go back and the game didn't want you to; walking into the door to the previous area would turn #would turn your screen into this black screen with just dark red/magenta-ish fuzzy light and an ominous ambient song playing #I remember going into one of those hallways and wanting to go back into the previous realizing I wasn't ready #and when I tried to go back and my screen turned black and the fucked up light and the fucked up music played I got so unnerved
